"Korean barbecue chain Gopchang Story has a bustling Allston location where diners can gather around heated tabletops and watch as piles of assorted intestines (Gopchang’s specialty) fry up in the pan. End the meal with the fried rice service, in which servers toss together any meat leftovers on the barbecue plate with egg, rice, cheese, and roe." - Erika Adams

If I could give zero stars, I would—but I’ll give them one because the pork belly was okay I went to Gopchang Story Boston last night, and the service was awful. The waiter dropped off poorly cooked large intestines **super chewy and hard to eat on the edge of our table instead of in the middle, said “enjoy,” and walked off. He didn’t set up the grill or check in with us, and the restaurant wasn’t even busy! At the end, another waiter came over, handed us the toast, and stared us down while we were signing! Like he was pressuring us. The check had a 20% tip already checked off, with no breakdown or itemized bill I’ve been here before and it was never this bad. Definitely not coming back!

Gopchang Story Boston is the ultimate spot for Korean grilled intestines. The gopchang is fresh, chewy, and full of flavor, especially when paired with their spicy dipping sauce. The staff grills everything to perfection. A must-visit for anyone who loves authentic Korean BBQ with bold flavors!

Food was great. The staff cooked the intestines for you, and made sure that it was cooked to your liking. The intestines had a great flavor to it, almost buttery tasting after cooked. The kimchi stew was a bit sour, but still tasted great. Atmosphere was a bit dark because of the lighting, but overall was a nice environment.

Overall: I had mixed feelings for the food but maybe it was just because I didn’t know how to appreciate them. However, the service need to improve more and the whole experience was awful. Won’t visit here again. ————————— Spicy crabs: this dish tasted ok. It was probably too spicy for a person who can only tolerate mild spicy. Personally I think it was a bit inconvenient to give only one glove per person to eat the crabs. Assorted intestines: first of all, I usually love intestines especially the braised ones. So maybe I just can’t appreciate the intestines here, the taste was too strong, and the large intestines were just too fat for me. To be honest, me and my friends can hardly finish the whole thing. Bulgogi hotpot: this one tasted ok, my honest feeling was that this tasted like a regular sukiyaki, nothing special. Yet it cost $38.95, it’s a bit pricy for me, but the meat quality was not bad so maybe the price had its own reason. Kimchi cold noodles: I really like this dish, I think it might be one of the best cold noodles I have in Boston, but this is just my personal opinion. It was not spicy at all and I really like the hint of umami from the seaweed. Service: The first waiter was impatient and kind of rude. The second waiter was better, we really appreciated that he was more polite and had more patience to take our orders. However, it felt ridiculous that we had been waiting for our cold noodles for almost two hours!! We had asked 3-4 different waiters and they keep saying they were still making it. I understand maybe they were short staffed, but two hours for a cold noodles??? I can’t believe it. Also, I overheard the table next to us got free drinks because their drinks were taking too long…I was speechless at the moment Parking: good, free street parking

Parking was easy as there were a plenty of available spots next to the restaurant. Food was amazing. Not too sweet and salty as I’ve found it from other Korean cuisine restaurants. Hotness level was perfect but I would recommend very hot if you got used to spicy Korean foos like Buldak ramen. Service by staff was excellent as they accommodated our special requests for a special event. What I liked the most about this restaurant was the portion of the food and price. If you ordered a dish for 2 people, you will actually save money because it’ll be more than enough for two. (I hope they don’t change the portion after my review… 😬)

Google
We visited Gochang just a few minutes before it opened. The kimchi pork belly was flavorful, but it became overly salty as the pot continued to boil. The seafood pancake, on the other hand, was excellent, packed with a generous variety of ingredients, making it thick and hearty, rather than just flour-based. The fried rice is not recommended, it was extremely salty. I could only take one bite. Overall, not bad. But If there’s a wait of over 30 minutes, I wouldn’t consider it worth it. My suggestion is to arrive early, just before the restaurant opens, to avoid the wait.

Google
We tried the assorted intestines BBQ, small size—more than enough. The large intestine dominated, overly oily and hard to enjoy. The stewed intestine dish was even more disappointing. Despite the menu promising small intestines, it was half-filled with large ones, poorly cooked and tough to finish. Overall, the dishes felt heavy and unbalanced. Proceed with caution if you're not a fan of large intestines.

Came here for late late dinner with my coworker. Even though they were getting ready for closing, (we got here a little before 10 but Google Maps told me they were open til midnight. I think they were trying to close a bit early) they were nice enough to sit us down and provide us with really good service. We got assorted meat combo and fried rice after. I honestly didn't expect much because the night was getting late and had to find a restaurant that was still open. Plus, we were starving. but man, the quality of the meats here and the service was great. All the staff were nice and willing to help us even though it was getting close to their closing time. Planning to come back.

Yelp
Man if you like intestines (large, small and entrails ) this is the spot. The spicy marinated version had good flavor. Note you do have to order at least 2 portions of intestines, one i believe they prep on kitchen for you the other you grill yourself but i could be wrong i was a bit confused as to what was going on haha. The raw spicy crab was good imo, squeeze and go to town. Unless you can put down a lot of food for 2 ppl, i recommend bringing couple extra friends and grab some soju and eat. We were overwhelmed with just two of us. Heating up next day it was too oily and chewy to enjoy so ended up tossing the leftovers.

Yelp
Service - 9/10 I came in around peak dinner time on the weekend and was told it would be a 30-45 minute wait. I was craving gopchang so I said, sure why not I'll wait it out. To my surprise, at least 3 tables all got up around the same time and we were seated within 10 minutes of arriving. The service was good and they took the order quite quickly. They cook the intestines for you, and the person asked us how we wanted it cooked (we wanted it well done) and did a great job serving it. Food - 9/10 We ordered 1 portion of the small intestines, the Pork Belly Kimchi Stew, and the Seafood Pancakes. Seafood Pancakes: They weren't that cut up, so I thought I'd have a hard time tearing them apart, but they were easy to separate and distribute amongst our table. They were decently sized, and quite light and not oily. Pork Belly Kimchi Stew: Unlike other kimchi stews, this one leaned more on the sour side of kimchi. I could taste the sourness of the kimchi in the stew from the small portion I had. It was still pretty good, but I didn't expect it to be that sour. Small Intestines: What I ordered and was craving. We had 1 portion, but it was just enough to fill me and the table up. It was buttery and had good flavor, and the crispiness was perfect. Not that oily and tasted great. Ambiance - 8/10 May just be me but the tables are a bit low to the ground, so if you have problems with your knees it may be uncomfortable at first. The place is also very dim, but still bright enough to see people.

Yelp
Great atmosphere to go with friends Quite authentic korean style restaurant -Food: Assorted gui was great. Staffs cooked for us while we were waiting. They were friendly and nice. The intestines were thoroughly cooked- very crunchy Stir fried rice: Also cooked by the staff. They put way too much nori but other than that, it was nicely cooked. Great flavor with kimchi and oil from served beef/intestines Banchan: great options and varieties. Wish the kimchi to be less dry but it wasn't bad to have with juicy intestines

Yelp
Gopchang Story has so much potential to be an amazing restaurant since it is a popular Korean chain and serves great food and is relatively new. The one frustrating part about this place is the service. Since it says they close at 12 I called around 9:30 PM to ask when the kitchen closes to make sure I am not coming right before they close. They said last call is at 11:05 so I came as early as I could which was a little bit before 10:30 and the female employee at the front said their kitchen was closing in two minutes. I said I had just called and they said 11:05 and the way she reacted was my first sign that she was not telling the truth. The next thing that I noticed was that we sat down and immediately decided what we wanted. It was several minutes after 10:30 when she said the "kitchen closed" and no one came to get our order. On top of that another employee came around 11 PM to do last call for food and other people were ordering after us, which leads me to assume the female employee was lying. I understand if restaurants close early but to have one employee lie about the kitchen closing so she can go home leaves a bad taste in my mouth. The food here was really good but we felt rushed and the only employee that was friendly was the male employee who told me the correct kitchen closing time over the phone. The other female employees clearly did not want to be working. The pork belly with kimchi was great but I wish the pork was cooked slightly more crispy. The banchan was good but we felt too uncomfortable to ask for more. Egg fried rice was okay but the bulgogi hotpot was really good. The broth was so savory with so much meat and glass noodles. The food here I would give a solid 4.3/5 but the service was honestly so bad that I don't think it's worth it to eat here unless you don't care. I hate to knock down many points for bad service and I try not to unless it's bad, but this took it from what could've been a 5 star on yelp to a 3.

Yelp
I've never been to an intestine-specialty place before! Was super excited to go to Gopchang with the hype surrounding it. Marinated large intestine (10/10): got the portion for 3 to split with 2 friends. They do not skimp, we had a third for leftovers. It was very well marinated, and it coming out on the grill for it to continually cook with the onions, cabbage, scallions, and rice cakes was the best part, because as the night continues, these veggies get soft, smokey, and saucy with the fatty marinated intestines. Note that this was very heavy on the stomach, so it's a bit hard to eat one type. I do not regret my order though. Raw spicy marinated crab (7/10): overall, it was decent. I feel like it's very similar, maybe slightly sweeter, than the raw marinated crab that can be bought at H-Mart. They bring you gloves so you can eat cleanly in the restaurant, which I appreciate. The crab is meaty, tender, and soft. I do think it's a bit pricier when comparing it to market prices. Overall, Gopchang was good. There's a bit of a wait if you're going on the kickoff of the weekend, especially during prime dinner hours since they're located between BC and BU. It is a cute little KBBQ place with neat chairs that open to store your belongings so they don't get that KBBQ smokey smell. They have sectioned off rooms to hold parties of 5+ which is great if you wanted to go with lots of friends. They play a lot of K-pop on the TV from different generations which was nostalgic! I got there around 6 and waited about 30 minutes to get sat. The waitstaff was really kind. I did place my order about 5 minutes after we were sat, and I was a bit disappointed when it took 45 minutes for our intestines to be served. I had only said something about my order after I saw a table sat after my have their food come out first. Waiting while it is slammed is understandable, so I'm not complaining on the wait. I am disappointed in that it took took 3 different servers asking me "what was your order?" until I got my food, which leads me to believe my order wasn't really put in the system in the first place. I know it was very busy, so don't let this deter you from coming. I hope there is a bit more attention across the tables the next time I come!

Yelp
We ordered the assorted gui for 2 people and a super cripsy and enjoyable seafood pajeon appetizer the assorted gui includes an assortment of grilled beef tongue, large, small, and entrails beef intestines, as well as veggies. The whole dish can be ordered spicy or mild, and it's served with a variety of banchan. I ate almost two servings of kimchi on my own because the sweet/spiciness of the kimchi was able to help cut through the fattiness and compliment the overall flavor of each bite Overall a very enjoyable meal with staff that helps you to cook!

Yelp
We came here when they opened, not busy but service is really slow and feel being ignore. My favorite is the seafood pancake, they doesn't have much flour, more like tempura. We ordered the 1 serving of assorted gui and 1 serving of marinated gui, still big portion that we still left over. The yookhwe bibimbap portion was small and too much sesame oil, they did not have the pepper paste to go with it. The steamed egg, lack of seasoning. I rather ordering take than dining in person.

Yelp
We ordered the mala big intestines medium spice and was not disappointed. It was quite delicious and flavorful. Plentiful for a table of 4. Love the interior design - little small stools around the bbq table that opens for storage. I have this place 3 stars because: 1. Side dishes could definitely use some beefing up. There were like 4 pieces of kimchi - however you can ask for more. 2. Service could definitely improve. Will definitely come back though for some intestines again!

Yelp
Intestines for dinner? I guess this place is known for offal. Try something new, but settled for Korean beef Tartar, and bulgogi hot pot. I also had the seafood pancake. I really like the beef tartare and seafood pancake. The bulgogi Had a great presentation. I felt the beef was a bit bland itself, even though the broth was incredibly delicious with the mushrooms and vegetables. Place was open super late and we had to wait for about 20 minutes to be seated but we were really seated in 10 minutes. Service was ok. I don't know if this would be a place I would come over and over again, but it seem to be popular with the students and residents of the area.

Yelp
We finally tried this place! We went on a friday night just past 5pm and the place was pretty empty. We were promptly seated and pretty much left alone to figure out what to do. There were no menus handed out but the wife noticed a QR code at the table so we scanned it to see the offerings. It would've been nice had the hostest or waiters asked if it was our first time and explained things. They didn't tell us the seats open to store our belongings either, I figured that out later. The seats are not that comfortable, IMHO. We didn't know if we were supposed to figure out a way to order from the QR code menu or what, but eventually a waitress walked by and was like "oh, are you ready to order?". Makes me wonder if I had done something wrong?? The waitress did grill one of our gui orders at the table. No one ever checked up on us after the food was done. Service is only a 3 stars out of 5. We were really excited to try this type of food. For any parties of 2+, you're mandated to order at least 2 servings of the gui for some reason. Whatever, I was fine with that as I was excited to eat this type of stuff. They have one grill at each table and because we had to order 2, one had to be prepared in the kitchen while the other is prepared tableside. This creates a problem where one comes out already done and the other is still cooking. Any other dishes are also already out on the table. We waited till the waitress finished cooking the one serving of gui at the table before really digging in. Gui: The marinated gui had good flavor. Suprisingly the regular assorted gui tasted even better. They put some powerdery type of seasoning on it prior to cooking. Because this one was cooked at the table, it was hot and remained hot throughout the meal. These were both good but I was disappointed that the shell or outer ring of the gui tasted kind of rubbery or plasticky. It was just hard to chew. 3/5 stars. Side Dishes: The side dishes served to us were obviously not freshly picked and plated for us...it was pre-plated and sitting around. It was just ok. 2/5 stars. Spicy marinated crab: You get 2.5 whole crabs marinated in very spicy seasoning/paste. The meat was soft and tasted kind of sweet. We wished they offered other options, like just marinated crab (without the spicy), as the spiciness level was pretty high. We had to order some rice to really enjoy this one. They give you thin gloves to eat this with your hands. 4/5 stars. Intestine tteokbokki: This is basically some rice noodles with fish cakes and intestines. Some of the rice noodles were still stuck together...i noticed this several times as I went in. The fish cakes were a lot better than the ones served as side dishes. The intestines were the same as the ones in the assorted gui. The sauce is very good and I found myself dunking the grilled gui pieces in this a lot. I'd give this dish a 3.5/5 stars. The decor inside is very modern and nice. There are TV's on the walls showing artists singing korean songs. The tables had induction style grill tops so wirings was minimal. The seats were uncomfortable but they do swing open to store your stuff so they don't absorb the bbq smell. Value wise, I think is okay. These are specialty types of foods here and I understand the prices will add up. I'm not sure why they force 2 servings of gui for 2+ parties though, but whatever. Upon checkout, they bring a device over and have you pay at the table. The default tip amount on the machine was 20% upon check out but you could make it awkward and try to choose something else while the waitress is staring you down. Overall, it was a unique experience, one that I'd been looking forward to since they opened. I'm just not sure if I'd come back...maybe I will, just to see if the hard to chew gui was a common occurrence or just a bad night. I think an overall score of 3.5/5 is accurate, as Yelp has it. Unfortunately I can only choose 3 or 4. I erred on 4 for now.

Yelp
The place to go to satisfy a craving for intestines. Note, finding parking can sometimes be challenging. The good - My fave is the fried rice cooked in the pan with all the gui drippings. - The seafood pancake is really good, not like other Korean restaurants. The bad - The seasoned tripe was more scallions than tripe. - The portions appear to be smaller nowadays. Recommended dishes - Seafood pancake - Fried rice add on

Yelp
The food was great and we enjoyed the ambience. Glad to see this place open in Boston after 10 PM. One of our Korean friends said that this is as Korean as it can get we also liked the person from the restaurant, cooking the intestines on our table and the experience of it.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a great place to go to if you love intestines! The spicy raw crab was delicious and had lots of meat inside to devour. My personal favorite from this visit was the small intestines! We got the small intestines without marinade, however, next time will definitely get it marinated though it was still delicious plain. The large intestines were yummy, as well. Overall, I would come back again... just be aware that you have to order 2 orders of intestines minimum and it is a lot to eat. I recommend coming with a couple people since these are large portions. The vibe inside was nice and chill, it is a plus that they are opened pretty late.

Yelp
So freaking good, a meal unlike any other in Boston. We ordered a bit too much for a table for 4 but everything was pretty yummy! I really loved the regular assorted gui since you could really get a taste for all the different cuts of intestines they include with their special seasoning they add. And the way they cook it on the grill makes it all fatty and smelling really good you can't resist. They also grill these pieces of rice cakes on the grill where the intestines are and something about the flavoring they dust on there is so addicting! The portion for 2 servings was pretty good too. We wish we didn't order the marinated assorted gui since it was a bit too much gui to have all in one sitting but this was pretty good too. Just a bit salty for my liking. The seafood pancake was the BEST I've ever had. So crispy and loaded up on the seafood. I'm not sure how they made it so crispy but it was super crispy and fluffy at the same time! The atmosphere reminds you of a Korean bbq spot since they have the chairs where you can lift them open to put your jacket inside and they play kpop on the speakers. Definitely looking to come back soon since they have been adding new items to their menu! What we ordered: - Assorted Gui - Marinated Assorted Gui (w/rice, egg, and roe add-on at the end) - Seafood Pancake

Yelp
3.5/5 We came here at around 9pm on a Wednesday, and since it was quite empty, the mediocre service was more noticeable. We were seated right away and pulled up the menu on our phones (we weren't handed menus and didn't notice the small QR code on the table until after we finished our meal ) We ordered the spicy raw marinated crab, the large mala assorted gui with kimchi fried rice, the tteokbokki, and the steamed egg. Definitely enough for our party of 6! Overall the food was alright - the flavors were good but it was definitely more on the adventurous side for me. We did have to ask for water refills and follow up on our order a few times.
google avatar

Meiyi Y.

Yelp
The seafood pancake was a bit too crispy for my liking. It doesn't have as much batter as the other seafood pancakes that I've had. The egg fried rice was pretty standard. We had to order a minimum of 2 servings of the assorted gui, and the portion was large for 3 people. My friends and I came here on a Tuesday night and there was no wait for a party of three. The restaurant is decently sized with plenty of seating. There are some booth seatings.

Yelp
Gopchang story is the perfect place to go out with friends on a friday night - it's a lively ambiance with kpop playing in the background and a pocha feel. We had to wait a bit as it was absolutely packed, but I liked that we could use the wireless phone chargers near the waiting area. Once we got seated, we were able to tuck our coats into a compartment in our seats (an absolute must, because all of your clothes smell like smoky gopchang afterwards!) We ordered daechang (large intestines), raw marinated crab, and pork belly & fried kimchi. I was pleasantly surprised by the marinated crab - this is a dish I generally only get in Korea and I wasn't sure how fresh it would be. The crab was well seasoned and didn't taste fishy. Next up was the daechang, which was just as overly indulgent and greasy as expected. My only complaint is that the daechang doesn't come with enough carbs and greens to offset the grease - We ended up ordering rice separately to eat with the crab, and it wasn't enough! We also LOVED the rice cakes with special seasoning that comes with the daechang, but wanted more. The pork belly and kimchi was delicious, but we noticed the kimchi had a lot of sweetness to it - maybe a little too much sugar. Overall, we had a great time at Gopchang Story. The whiskey highballs were a delicious and refreshing pairing to the gopchang as well. Will be back!

Yelp
I got to know Gopchang story in Boston, I must try because it's my favorite restaurant in Korea so I gave a shot. I really was happy to Gopchang story is in Boston. My friend wanted eat Korean food while we traveled at Boston and we disappointed other Korean restaurant. You must try this place!! We called this place before we go for make sure there's waiting. We just waited 10mins for got a table. They served really quick and help you perfectly cooked gopchang. We ordered Daechang instead of Gopchang. Highly recommended Daechang if you can't eat Gopchang like me. Daechang (5/5)Chewy and delicious gravy. Steamed egg(4/5)was delicious too. Fried rice(4/5). Amazing staffs. They are accommodating. Served food very quickly and they make sure everything ok while you eat. Interior was very casual and clean place but very loud. I was so happy to back to hotel after eat dinner here. Definitely I will go back this place if I travel to Boston again.

Yelp
Very spacious and a great place to catch up with friends. Usually there's a bit of wait, but I've gotten lucky a few times. If you call ahead, you can ask if there's a wait. Your waiter/waitress also cooks the food at the table which is a huge plus. I get the egg fried rice, the seafood pancake, and the assorted gui every time. Egg fried rice: Taste wise, its a simple egg fried rice, no complaints. Personally, I think it's fun to mix the egg in with the rice at the table, and I like that it being on cast iron gives some of the rice a different texture. Seafood Pancake: This is my favourite seafood pancake. There is plenty of shrimp, green onions, and octopus. It's very crispy and doesn't have much batter. If you like the batter and prefer more batter this might not be for you. Assorted Gui: Beef large intestine, small intestine, entrails, rice cakes, and heart. They sprinkle a seasoning on top before cooking the meat and it's really good. I recommend drinking something acidic (Milkis or an acidic soda) with this meal as it's very greasy/fatty. If you're thinking about trying it, you should definitely go.

Yelp
Walking in we were greeted by nobody, we sat by the front seating for at least 20 minutes where we were then allowed to sit down. Food was good, but service takes way too long. We arrived since 7pm and I am currently writing this at 9:16pm and still haven't received the dessert I put an order in for twice. Also had to cancel some a couple items because it was just getting so late. It may be Valentine's Day but it's not even that busy, won't be coming back here for a long time

Yelp
We visited on a weekday evening, and it was relatively empty. There were may staff members around, though, and were attentive enough to check on the heat, etc. The interior brought me back to a classic Korean after-work restaurant, with circular backless stool-chairs and wood-patterned tables. We ordered the small intestine stew, but it had large intestines in it too. Unlike grilled, stewed intestines should have more of its fat cut off, but it wasn't, which made it a bit greasy for the palate. The seasoning was ok, slightly on the sweet side but still with a refreshing kick and deep flavor. We found the beef tartare (yukhoe) to be a bit over-seasoned, but it was still good quality. You can't really get this kind of food in many places in Boston, and the flavors and preparation is definitely authentic. Will come again to try the grilled stuff.

Yelp
The food here is always amazing but the service is pretty varying. Regardless I will still be coming back periodically to satisfy that Gochang craving!

Yelp
It worths the hype to come to this restaurant. They are know for the intestine, and I like the original small intestine the most. I tried the hot pot as well and not too impressed! The drink menu is pretty limited. There are not too many options. The staff are very friendly and nice. The restaurant is also nice. Their chairs have bucket that you can put your jacket inside, which is neat.
google avatar

Yelp
Gopchang story was totally unique! Their main dish, the gui, which was an assortment of intestine wasn't quite for our crew, but the flavor was great. The server even offered to cook us a new one after the first one burned. The bulgogi hot pot and fried rice were both practically licked clean. The broth in the hot pot was especially good with a rich umami flavor. Can't forget the K-pop on the screens which was impossible to ignore. Appetizers: 1. Fried Rice - 4/5 Main: 1. Assorted Gui - N/A because we weren't a fan of intestine 2. Bulgogi Hot Pot - 5/5

Yelp
If you haven't tried gopchang in KBBQ, this is the place to try it. Gopchang is a Korean dish that literally translates to grilled beef intestines. I was skeptical at first, but after I tried it here, I was blown away by how good it was and I wished we had gotten more! We got two servings of Marinated Assorted Gui ($58.90) and added on Fried Rice ($8) and Rice Cake ($6). The gopchang was cooked in front of us in a stone grill and soaked up all the spicy broth. Each bite had an incredible bouncy texture and was bursting with buttery and beefy flavor! After finishing most of the gopchang, a server came to cook the fried rice in the sauce. The fried rice was good, but I felt that it wasn't anything special. I would probably skip this add on next time and just get something else. Overall, I loved the gopchang here and I would come back for more! They don't take reservations so be prepared to wait at least an hour on weekends.

Yelp
This place is right around BU and is fairly new. They dont take reservations and are walk in only. I came in a Sunday night around 6pm and with a party of 4 we waited roughly 20 minutes. We got the assorted meat and chicken dishes and also did the fried rice add-on. I'm not the biggest fan of intestine, but I'd say the quality of the meat here js pretty good because I usually can't eat it lol. The large intestine has texture similar to pork belly and the small intestines feels like salmon roe and is chewy. Overall, the food was fairly good and service was very friendly. It was a little on the pricier side though.

Yelp
Food is really good! It's a ton of fat and fried stuff, so just prepare your body honestly The ambiance is very chill and a nice place to just talk and drink/ listen to music. The service is also very good. We always get the same waiter, this young Korean guy but he's totally chill and very amicable. Price is the only con, but there's nothing else like it in the city or maybe even state.

Yelp
I love their food but their times are absolutely wrong. I'm coming from Worcester and I called ahead to make sure I could still sit down because I'll be coming out of work. (I was told last seating is at 11, they close at 12). They told me they'll let the other staff know I'll be arriving then. We arrive at 10:30 and they already have the doors locked and turned off the lights in front of us. I drove 45 minutes, double checked to make sure I can still make it, just for them to close. As I type this, the foh staff left in their car (10:37) Definitely don't trust the end of night times. Call first.

Yelp
I'm not the biggest fan of intestines but it's my wife's favorite thing. Thus, I'll be reviewing this based on her feedback. It's really amazing to have a Gopchang Story in Boston, after our experience in New York it was a must visit. This restaurant has a much cleaner vibe and great ambience. The wait was not too long and the owners/managers seem very driven to customer service. Not surprising, given they just opened a few months ago. We got one order or large and one order of small intestines plus the beef soybean stew. The large intestines were really great, I definitely preferred these over the small intestines. Though a bit more chewy compared to the small intestines, the taste was cleaner and juicier. My wife agreed that the large intestines were better than the small intestines, even though small intestines are usually her favorite. The soybean stew was flavorful as well, but the tofu was sour. This tells me that maybe it was slightly spoiled ... Nonetheless, it was good to have some contrast to the heavy, oiled grill. All in all, preferred the New York location but this was still a good experience. 3 dishes totalled ~$80 plus tip.

Yelp
Setting aside that Boston KBBQ scene has been lacking. This place is excellent option for KBBQ. They specialize in other parts of the cow that might not be for everyone. But if you want an unique KBBQ experience this is the place to go. Combo platters are the way to go and don't forget to add on the fried rice. I love scallian seafood pancakes and theirs is the best I've had around the greater Boston area. Minimal on the batter, fried to a nice crispiness with a few bits of seafood and generous amounts of scallians. Their tables use induction cooking for minimal smoke and also the most environmentally friendly way to do it.

Yelp
After hearing the rave about this place, I had to go and try it myself. First initial instinct is super cute and chic place. After being seated, we looked at the menu. Not much on the menu but our server helped us order. We ordered a single assorted, and double marinated assorted for three ish people (we had a party of 5 but they only wanted to try the intestines). We also ordered three servings of fried rice add on after. We got the single assorted gui first, then the double serving of the marinate, and then the fried rice with the marinate. I preferred the regular over the marinate as the marinate was kind of too salty for me, and they added too much of the marinate. Nonetheless it was still good. The beef tartare was also good but it was served kinda half frozen half thawed so it was really cold and kind of crunchy when eating it, which idk if that is how it was supposed to be. I definitely will come here again to try more items, however, a few key take away is that this place definitely is expensive for the portion. I truly believe the portions are under portioned, but the service was great as they cooked it for you!

Yelp
Came here on a Wednesday evening at around 5:30 and we were seated quite quickly despite not having our entire party there. We were informed that Wednesdays are pretty solid days to come as it isn't as busy - by the time we left, there was a line for a table pretty much out the door so if that isn't as busy as it can be, I don't want to see what it's like on the weekend! The decor and ambiance seems super modern inside the space. The chairs have storage within the seat which was pretty convenient and the the overall vibe was pleasant. The service was fast to take our orders and to serve us our food as well. We weren't left waiting for too long and overall, the staff was super friendly and receptive to our requests. For four people, we were told to share two doubles or a double and a single. Portion wise, it was a decent amount of food. I wasn't super full by the end, but I was satisfied. We also had a beef tatare to share and the rice at the end ( definitely always get this! ) which helped round out the meal. The food itself was pretty high in quality for the intestines and entrails. Things were cooked and cleaned well I think, but my one complaint would be the lack of drainage in the casket. Towards the end of the meal, it definitely felt a little gross and greasy to eat the last of the meat. The tartare we got was interestingly sweet ( made for an okay taste ) but the meat was frozen. The contrast of taking a bite of the tartare and then some intestine physically hurt my teeth - I'd definitely recommend eating one at a time. I was pretty disappointed in the overall variety of the menu as well as some of the side dishes. Other Gopchangs have things like naengmyeon ( cold noodles ), different types of bbq meat other than intestines, and various other things to help diversify the meal. Naengmyeon would have definitely helped after the meal due to how greasy all of us felt so it was sad to see it wasn't an option. Overall, I found this experience at Gopchang to leave something to be desired. I've been waiting since last July for this restaurant to open due to the positive experiences I've had at other locations and this one unfortunately didn't live up to expectations. The portions also felt a little smaller than other locations which left a pretty bit dent to the wallet for not as great of an experience. Hopefully they expand their menu by the time I come back next!

Yelp
I recommend coming here with at least 3-4 people if you want to order the intestines because you have to get at least 2 of the "single" orders. We got the single assorted gui ($29.95), marinated assorted gui ($30.95), and tripe fried rice ($17.95). They were understaffed on the day we visited so it took a while to get a server's attention and to get the food. The servers grilled our orders for us. The assorted gui had a mix of small intestine, large intestine, heart, and entrails. The heart was probably my favorite because it was meaty and tender. The large intestine was extremely fatty (think pork belly but ONLY the fat). They added a powder on top of the intestines which tasted really good. I do not recommend the tripe fried rice. It was pretty flavorless and the tripe pieces were tiny. Even the egg around the side of the fried rice was pretty underwhelming. Instead, I would recommend asking for fried rice after you finish the intestines, and they'll fry it directly in all of the leftover fat. I wasn't a fan of the marinated assorted gui. I thought that the marinade would add more flavor to the intestines, but it ended up just causing the intestines to boil instead of fry so the texture wasn't as crispy. The dipping sauces and pickled onions that they give on the side were much more flavorful than the marinade anyway. If I were to come again, I'd probably skip the assorted gui and just get the small intestine gui and beef heart gui! I'd also ask for fried rice at the end.

Yelp
I'm not sure if they are opened too early or not prepared but a lot of things missing. We basically got no side dishes besides kimchi green onion, 1 pickled jalapeño, and something else but no where near real side dishes. Meat options like brisket weren't out to order yet. The grills were not mounted into the tables but rather a cast iron placed on top but there was no oil drainage option but by the end of my meal, I felt overly greasy

Yelp
This Boston location isn't nearly as good as their NY one. The Gopchang and sides weren't as flavorful but their cold noodles were good. Don't get the maple soju, it tasted like plain soju which was disappointing. Honestly not worth the 45+ minute wait either but since there's no other gopchang restaurants in Boston, this will make do.

Yelp
Without the price point, I would have given 5 stars. This is very authentic korean intestine dish. None of the food were meh. All of the food we ordered: assorted gui, beef tartar sushi, ddok-bokghi, seafood pancake, fried rice, were amazing. Is the price justified? I am not sure. Will I revisit? Yes, most definitely. This is a place to splurge. More specifically, I would recommend getting more of the daechang pieces (not sure if that's possible)

Yelp
The food tasted super yummy and the service was great. For 4ppl we got a large assorted and a single large intestine. The rice afterwards is always a must (4 portions). We also got the beef tartare. I deducted one star because they are missing a lot of other dishes that you could usually get at other gopchangs ( for example there isn't any tofu stew or cold noodles). No lettuce wraps and I didn't like how they premixed the dipping sauce for you. The beef tartare was a bit frozen too

Yelp
I was so excited when I heard Gopchang opened up in Boston! I love the one in Flushing and Manhattan. I went on a Wednesday night at 530 with 3 others and it was pretty crowded but there was no line. We got seated right away. However, right around 7, I noticed there was a line of roughly 10-15 people. The interior is pretty modern. I really like the clean look of it. There are also private rooms for larger parties. I'm not sure when they will take reservations for that but they are great additions. For side dishes, we got small dipping bowls of vinegar with garlic and jalapeños, and onions. They were pretty small so we asked for refills. There were not many side dishes and I'm hoping it's because the restaurant is new. Side dishes are so essential for Gopchang/daechang. I hope there will be additions of side dishes. We ordered 2 assorted and 1 large intestine. The portions are much smaller than NY. Generally I'd get 1 assortment to share with another person and I would be filled from that in NY. But here, after the 3 orders plus the beef tartar and 4 fried rice, I was not completely full. My fiends shared the same sentiment. The beef tartare was interesting. It's not ideal for my taste but was for my friends. It's on the sweeter side and it is more frozen than usual. The fried rice was decent, nothing special but I liked that they added a lot of seaweed flakes on top. Since the restaurant just opened up, they didn't have a lot dishes like cold noodles or tofu soup. I hope they will add those to the menu soon! The staff members were very nice and cooked the food for us. Although they were busy, they were attentive and got us our order and food quickly. The cost came around $45 per person. I would say it's on the higher side because if I were to be full, I would have needed to order a lot more food. But I would come here every now and then to satisfy my craving.

Yelp
Gopchang Story is a Korean BBQ restaurant with a location in New York and franchises in South Korea. Gopchang refer to the intestines of a cattle or a pig. The restaurant specializes in offals meat, a first for Boston. It is located at 973 Commonwealth Ave in Boston, Ma. There is limited street parking on both sides of Commonwealth Ave. Taking public restaurant is an option as the restaurant is accessible by taking the MBTA green line, Boston College or B Train and exiting at the Babcock Street train stop. Currently, there is walk in service only, no reservation. Dinner service run late into the wee hours, midnight closing most days, except 1am on Friday and Saturday nights. I believe the most popular items on the menu will be the various BBQ offerings of large intestines, small intestines, beef entrails, and beef heart. I recommend the assorted gui which lets you sample everything. You have the option of regular or marinated. I have tried both and prefer the non marinated version much better. The restaurants serves a special rice cake with the bbq which is spongy and mochi-like. It's so good! You can order more of it as an add-on. Additional add-ons include $8 fried rice and you can also add extra cheese and/or fish roe for an additional $3 each added on to the fried rice. I would recommend the fried rice add-on. The wait staff handle the grilling of the intestines and meats over a conduction grille on each of the tables as well as cooking the fried rice add ons. There are but a few banchan (side dishes) that come with the bbq, none worth mentioning. You can also try other menu items that allow you to enjoy the intestines in a stewed hot pot, soup, or in a fried rice. My favorite appetizer so far is the beef tartar and pear. This is not for everyone as the beef and egg are both raw. But if you have had this dish before ar another other Korean restaurant, this place is one of the best I have had. The kimchi cold noodle is so cold. After it thawed a bit, it was a bit more enjoyable though it's not something I would order again, and not during winter. Probably best to enjoy this dish during summer instead. The seafood pancake was very crispy, and a tad too oily for my liking. We also tried the Bulgogi hotpot. The broth was very flavorful (a tad bit on the sweet side) and there were a variety of mushrooms and vegetables, and a decent amount of thinly sliced beef. The alcohol menu have some expensive offering. I prefer Makgeolli (raw rice wine). Soju is another good pairing though I was not a fan of the maple soju. Honestly, a nice cold beer is all you need. The restaurant is very lively with ages ranging from college students to adults. There is also K-pop playing on the tv screens. Service was excellent both times I have visited. You can put your coat/jacket/belonging inside of the chairs that you sit on, which is kind of neat. There was no wait time when we came right at opening. However, an hour after opening is when the lines begin to form. The semi-private dining area is for groups of 6 or more. Again, no reservations available even for larger parties. I would call ahead and just ask how long the expected wait time is when you get closer to the restaurant since winter in Boston can be brutally cold. I highly recommend this restaurant to hang out with friends and will definitely be back.

Yelp
I visited Gopchang when they first opened with the expectation that they will have their entire menu that was posted online. When we arrived, the host notified us that they do not have bbq beef, only intestines and the other beef dishes. This was very disappointing for me because I've eaten at the Fort Lee location in New Jersey and the kbbq beef was amazing. However, we still wanted to try the new restaurant, so we waited about an hour for a table for three. My favorite item was the beef tartare, I love Korean beef tartare because of the egg yolk and the Korean pear slices. We ordered the intestines bbq that our server recommended which was a large order of assorted gui, just to try a little bit of everything. The rice cakes are SO good! We also ordered the intestine tteok-bokki, which was good, but we became overwhelmed with how much intestines was on the table. The steamed egg was standard. I would recommend the egg fried rice, which came out in a skillet and they mix everything together in front of you. Lastly, we ordered the fatty brisket spicy stew; definitely spicy if you cannot tolerate spice at all, but it was flavorful and the glass noodles were good. Order the blackberry soju, you just have to, it is so much better than regular soju; I think we went through 3-4 bottles throughout dinner. Our server told us that they will server kbbq beef in the upcoming weeks when they become less overwhelmed with the opening of the restaurant, but I've noticed that they removed the kbbq beef page from their menu online, so I don't think it will be available anytime soon. However, I would go back because overall the food and drinks were good!

Yelp
The prices are not cheap but the service was worth it. High quality Korean BBQ includes not only good meats, but also great side dishes. The fried rice, seafood pancake, and even banchan were noticeably better than most places in Boston. The servers were also very attentive and made sure to ask us to review our bill before he pushed the charge button. Thankfully he did because there was an extra item on there that we didn't order. It saved us time having to go back and redo the check. We showed up about 15-30 min after opening and there was already a wait. Thankfully, a party was already finishing up so it wasn't a long wait, but I don't know if I would come around peak dinner times. If you're looking for a late night meal, they are one of the very very few actual restaurants open past midnight.

Yelp
Ordered two portions of Large intestines and for three guys it was more than enough especially with fried rice at the end. I really liked the flavors as the insides of the large intestines tasted like bone marrow to me. It is a very hardy meal and there is a lot of oil. Very happy with my experience of the food and overall quality. Service was also good as they cook the food in front of you and let you know when you can eat. They also provided bibs and unlimited bon chon.

Yelp
It was my first time officially eating gopchang (beef intestines) and I was shocked at how delicious they were! We came on a Wednesday night so it was not so crowded and was seated immediately. We ordered the beef and gopchang, aloe soju, and the seafood pancake. It was all so delish!! I also loved the kpop playing on the tvs haha Our server was also so nice to notice that we were getting full and removed one of the dishes we initially ordered. How thoughtful! One large dish and the seafood pancake was enough to stuff our three bellies. Would def recommend!

Yelp
Food was it is good. I still think the marinated spicy crab is a little overrated for me because I didn't get too much crab meat but too much marinated sauce that I tasted. I love the vibe inside the restaurant, the music is perfect and my friends and I drank alot cause of the music LOL. Service is perfect. No complaints on this one.

Yelp
Food - 4/5 Service - 0/5 We found this place from Instagram, after a food influencer posted about the raw, marinated, soft shell crab, and it's been on our list ever since. We got to the place at 5:15 pm on a weekend night, and the place was full, and had just sat down their first wave of parties: they open at 5pm. We were asked for our name and number and were the first people to put their names down in their wait book; we were told it would be a 30-40 minute wait because everyone had just sat down, which was understandable. We went outside to walk around and wait; they said they would call us when a table was ready. By 6:15 pm, the restaurant still hadn't called us, so we headed over to check what the wait time was. As soon as we entered, we noticed several parties of the same size as us had been swapped out. We asked the host, a different host, for the wait time and they checked the book for our name; we saw at least 10 names crossed out in the book below our name, which we found surprising given that we were the first name in the book. The host then guided us to a table that had just been cleared, although they promptly sat us, they didn't comment on their lack of communication. Given that we had been waiting for a while outside, we had already figured out what we wanted to order and promptly called over a waitress to place our order. After placing the order, we inquired if we could get the table wiped down because we felt the table was sticky and saw some small splotches of food from the previous party. With an attitude and rolled eyes, the waitress said, "it's been wiped down already, you want it wiped down again?" Stunned, i replied, "yes please." They called over a bus boy to then wipe down the table. In no way shape or form were we intending to accuse anyone of not doing their job. As a customer, I felt as if I was shamed for asking for a seemingly simple request; again, there was no ill will against the waitstaff. Our orders/food came in quickly and as they were prepared: the cold noodles, raw crab then intestines. The cold noodles are great on a summer day. The marinated sauce the crab was in was great, but if you haven't tried raw crab before, it might take some getting used to. The intestines were good, a more heartier/meatier sausage if you haven't tried them before. While the food came quickly, the same waitress that gave us the attitude would basically toss the food onto the table; they would drop the food at the very corner of the table and they had their back to us every time, not once did they look at us or acknowledge us. One of our favorite things about Korean restaurants is all of the banchan they tend to have! We noticed that at other tables, there was banchan being served; at the table next to us, a table that was sat after us and the same waitress was serving, they also had banchan. Because of our poor interactions with the server, we didn't bother asking for banchan :( Overall, I would say that the service soured our experience. We felt like we were on edge every time we looked up from our food. I'd recommend you try it out if you wanted to try raw crab or intestines, but be wary of staff.

Yelp
First intestine KBBQ spot in Boston and it didn't disappoint! It is definitely different than your normal KBBQ experience - servers cook the meat for you and they use induction cooking for minimal smoke which was really cool. I'd recommend going with a group (3+) cause the portions are generous and you can try a few dishes. Our server Jay was super nice and helped us order. We got the beef tartar, regular assorted gui, and add on fried rice with cheese and obviously a bottle of soju! Everything was so good. Its pricey for the portions, but I definitely recommend coming here if you've wanted to try intestine BBQ!

Yelp
This spot is worth the hype it's getting. This is on the pricier side but there isn't many spots like this in the area. I would recommend coming here with a group of 3 or more since the type of food here is really heavy and can get tiring to eat with just 2. They are known for their intestine cuts and it's a taste that you have to be expecting. They have other options for food but the intestines are the main dish. Add a a bottle (or two) of soju and the combo is great!

Yelp
This place was so good! They still have the seasonal marinated spicy raw crab along with a bunch of other things on the menu. I like that they have a specialized menu (not too many options cause they make the things they're known for really well). The customer service here is great too. The servers all rotate to help the tables make sure that their food is cooked well, but not too well and this was great if you needed something. They have metal cups and bowls that keep your food and drinks insulated -the cold water was super refreshing with the hot food we had. And there are napkin and utensil carts spaced out if you need those too. :) We took the rest of the hot pot home and added some water with noodles the next day and it was still super flavorful. They have a great elevated casual ambiance so it's great for hangouts and date nights! Definitely a fun and tasty spot to return back to!

Yelp
I went back to try this restaurant one more time because my friends wanted to try the food. This time both food and service was great. I was surprised how well the guy served us. When we finish the gui and wanted fried rice, the server took out the burnt food at the bottom of the pan. Music was also on point. I give 3 stars because it's so unpredictable how well the service is. It really depends on the server and the day if you're lucky. I hope they improve with the service so I don't have to play the guessing game when I want to come here.

Yelp
Very surprised I ended up liking this place since I'm not the biggest fan of beef intestine. We got the marinated assortment and it was delicious. I really enjoyed the sauce and rice cakes. We ordered a side of udon to throw in and it helped balance out the fattiness of the intestines. This double order could easily feed 3-4 people. The intestine is so fatty so you definitely get tired of it fast so order other items to eat with it. There were other parts of the intestine (small, large, entrails) in our order but I think the best is just the regular beef intestines. The place is spacious and there are a lot of round tables. The way it is set up really reminds me of Korea! Servers are very polite and come around often.
