I loved this place, and definitely want to go back to eat more of their gorditas (and other things on their menu, honestly). When deciding where to meet for lunch, I floated a couple of places I'd had bookmarked to my friend, but I'm really happy she chose this place. It's small and intimate, and I love how the waitstaff switches between Spanish and English. The waitress took my drink order in Spanish and then switched to English to accommodate my non-Spanish speaking friend, and she did it seamlessly. The people working there were friendly, especially since my friend was 20-30 minutes late, and I took up a 4-person table waiting for her. I didn't feel particularly rushed, and that was really nice.
Even without the stellar service and the cutest water jugs, the food was delicious. I got a guava atole to drink, which was so yummy. It had sweet, guava flavors without being too sweet. It's a hot drink, so perfect for if you want to warm yourself up. I also was excited because I hadn't had atole since I was in Mexico, and even though they have horchata and I love it, I wanted to have some atole.
On to the gorditas - so many options, and I wish I had come hungrier so I could try more gorditas. I ended up getting the chile pasado con carne as well as the chorizo con papas (chorizo/sausage with potatoes). Both were great - chorizo was probably a little more my favorite but I am a sucker for chorizo. I forgot what my friend got but she really liked hers as well. I'll definitely be back here, especially since this isn't too far from me.
