As Gordon Ramsay would say: "You used so much oil, the U.S. wants to invade the f--ing plate."
To be frank, I was excited by the hype but was really let down.
This place is on a crowded little walkway but it's easy to spot by the bright British flag outside the place. Inside you can find some of the same garish lighting, along with Gordon Ramsay's likeness and name all over the place.
I've watched quite a few of Gordon Ramsay's shows, and he frequently mentions fish and chips as one of his favorite, classic recipes. If I recall correctly, a contestant chef on one of his shows added an ingredient to it and got thoroughly reamed. Honestly, I wish Gordon would have listened.
I opted for the lobster and shrimp with an extra piece of fish, and got the fries "Dirty #1" which meant jalapeno, pork chorizo, cojita cheese, red onion and parsley.
Now the place was packed, but it took nearly an hour to get our food. People were circling what few tables, chairs and barstools there were, both to wait and to eat. It was chaotic. Oh, and when my food was finally was ready, they forgot to give me the fish so I had to go back and ask for it.
As far as I could tell, my lobster, shrimp and fish were mostly comprised of thick, oily breading with a little bit of overcooked, chewy meat underneath. It was so greasy it literally turned my stomach, which is a great feat.
The fries were decent but the extra "dirty" toppings didn't go very far.
As far as I can tell, this place preys on tourists drawn in by the name "Gordon Ramsay" but doesn't deliver on anything he claims to pride himself on. The wait was horrendous, the food was terrible, and service fell short. I was going to check out Hell's Kitchen while I was out there, but after this hellish dining experience I made other plans.
