Where to Eat By the Wharf on D.C.’s Southwest Waterfront | Eater DC

"Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant modeled after hit Fox cooking competition opened its doors along the Wharf’s Phase 2 last year. Signature dishes featured on the show like beef Wellington and lobster risotto adorn the menu, but there are alternatives like braised short rib and crispy skin salmon to choose from. Just a few steps from Hell’s Kitchen is his fast-casual ode to fish and chips. Combo plates of the English staple include cod, chicken, and surf-and-turf sandwiches wrapped in naan." - Vinciane Ngomsi

Atmosphere was the best here especially the gaze outside the window. For some reason, I didn't like their beef wellington. I tried the truffle oyster as well but didn't click with my liking. My mother and father liked the 5 taste course meal. There was nothing that really piqued my interest with any of the food but my mom and dad liked the food so that's all good. I appreciate the server. He was nice and knowledgeable about the food. They were pretty neat and the server pays close attention on what our table needs. I guess the waiting time on the food kind is a little bit slow but considering how a lot of people were there so I understand as to why. The only thing that I really like the most though is the Toffee Pudding. It was so soft and right sweetness. One thing that I really like as well is how their menu looks like. It is very vegetarian/vegan friendly. It will show if dairy is used, vegetarian friendly etc

We really enjoyed our Hell’s Kitchen experience at the wharf. We came here for birthday dinner and it did not disappoint. We started with the meatballs and flat bread. The two were very good together, tasted like a really great pizza. For our main dish we got the steak, creamy potatoes and Brussels sprouts… chefs kiss. We didn’t have room for dessert but our waitress brought a scoop of birthday ice cream. Overall I’d recommend trying this place, just be prepared to spend a few hundred 😉

We had a beautiful dinner here a few days ago. The view is gorgeous capturing the water, the boats, and the bridge is lit up at night. The restaurant is clean and spacious. Love being able to enjoy the classic beef Wellington and the sticky toffee pudding! The cocktails are also fresh and flavorful. The ambiance was romantic, dim lighting and a breathtaking view. The noise level is perfect, so I can talk to my fiancé calmly. The service was good, I just felt like we had to search for our waitress a couple of times but other than that they were great. I highly recommend this restaurant, especially at sunset!

Food: Agree with other reviewers: the Beef Wellington was delicious. Enjoyed the accompanying sauce and mashed potatoes, too. Caesar salad was great. Scallops were great but the corn pairing (grilled kernels and sauce) did not work. The toffee desert was amazing. Service was fine, although a little off in that our server never introduced himself, although by meal's end, he became quite the conversationalist. Water was promptly filled, and we got complementary Prosecco. That said, we reserved our table using a gift card. It took about 15 minutes for the server and manager to confirm what the gift card covered. We tried checking ourselves, but the Gordon Ramsey website did not work. All that time we just sat at the table: no drinks, no food, no ordering. Atmosphere: We sat next to the kitchen. It was great fun at first, albeit a little warmer there than elsewhere in the restaurant. After 90 minutes, the shouting of orders amongst the chefs became tiresome. The big question is, "Was it worth it?" Given the cost, maybe. We'll return, which is a good sign, but it wasn't a superlative dining experience.

Had a fantastic experience at Hell’s Kitchen on Wharf Street in Washington. We ordered the Beef Wellington perfectly cooked and the sauce was absolutely exquisite. The lobster risotto was delicious and came in a very generous portion, even though it’s listed as a starter. I had it as my main dish and it was more than enough. We finished with the Caramel Sticky Toffee Cake, which was incredibly good. Truly a memorable meal from start to finish.

Google
The atmosphere - it is really well organized. They have first floor for waiting and the bar and upstairs for the restaurant itself. It was raining when we visited so unfortunately there’s no sunset dinner. Parking - they have nearby wharf paid parking around. Service - Isaiah did a good job in making sure we are taking care of. Also the front desk who welcomes you, she’s also awesome. Greeted with smile and helped us to take photos with the HK background (I know it’s small kindness but it’s a big thing) The food - to all of the food we ordered, I like most the Risotto Lobster. The 20oz rib eye steak is well cooked so that is so good too. With the Beef Wellington- I was just expecting for more play with the flavor. It is still good, I don’t have standard as this is my first Beef Wellington but just expecting for more. The strawberry shortcake was also good. Price - I do agree that it is overpriced based on the food taste - it was all good, indeed. For experience of the restaurant it was good but for the food I think there’s much better.

We recently dined at Hell's Kitchen in DC to celebrate my wife's birthday, and the experience exceeded expectations. While the meal was definitely on the pricier side, the service and attention to detail made it well worth it. The staff went out of their way to make the evening special-from a warm birthday welcome to thoughtful touches throughout the meal. The atmosphere was vibrant, the food was excellent, and we truly felt like valued guests. It was a memorable night and a fantastic way to celebrate a special occasion. Highly recommended for anyone looking to mark something meaningful in style

An amazing dinner with absolutely beautiful views! 18 stars cocktail is so good. The meatball appetizer was great. The Cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding was delicious. She had the lamb chops and I had the Short Rib with a side of street corn, it was all amazing

Yelp
What an amazing experience for my wife's birthday with friends. Food was said to be amazing and it was. Much attention to details and each plate was artfully completed. Chef Christ gave us two table touches and assured all guests needs were met. Sara tended to our every need and even made an exception for us as some guests had made changes to their original chef's experience plan. Very professional and delightful. Finally, we were guided across the restaurant to see that every table had a view of a beautifully designed establishment with an open kitchen concept. Every guest can appreciate the work put into the plate in front of them and be heard for any questions and comments kn their experience. This place is a well-oiled machine for a great experience from sights, sounds, and of course tastes.

Yelp
The ambiance is great. I have been to this restaurant a couple of times. One of the downsides to the restaurant is, despite having an actual reservation for a scheduled time, was still an actual wait time of approximately half an hour. I'm not sure if it is their strategy like other restaurants, to have you wait a while, despite having a reservation, to elicit the purchase of drinks at the bar in the lobby area. I'm sure it is a successful strategy as a business, however, not one I'm very fond of. After the wait, we were finally seated to a small table for four, when there were numerous people with booths that just had two people, but may have just been what's available. But you know when you go to a restaurant and it's self seating in the early morning for breakfast and you see those one or two people occupy a table for 6 and you're like WTF?! when you have an actual family having to wait until one of those tables become available. The food was great, as you'd expect. It would be awesome to go to one of Gordon Ramsey's restaurants and he actually be there. I'm sure that's extremely rare with his shows and other business ventures, but would be cool and am sure it'd be impossible to get a table then. However, as a business owner, I'd have a night at the Chef's Table special for select clients in the region that would pay a significant premium that would be worth having that could greatly increase their revenue in a single night. The harissa flatbread was a pleasant surprise and almost like a naan. Although, I didn't want to get too full on the bread. That's one of the reasons why I hate eating at the Olive Garden, the food is good, but the unlimited breadsticks , then by the team your entree arrives you take two to three bites and need to box it up to go. I'm always keen on Beef Wellington, a house favorite and one of mine, especially knowing how difficult it is to make to get it to be a perfect medium rare. This time I decided to splurge for the occasion and did it Oscar style. There was a decent amount of crab meat with hollandaise sauce. The Braised Short-rib was amazing and hearty. Surprisingly no leftovers there either. And the Lobster Risotto was also great, which is an expensive appetizer item, however, our party ordered it as an entree and even one of them had leftovers I gladly enjoyed. And then there were three finishers, three desserts that were very difficult to finish because they were good but a bit rich. We got the Sticky Toffee Pudding, Chocolate Orange Trifle and the Lemon Blueberry Cheesecake. Surprisingly of the three, the Lemon Blueberry Cheesecake was my favorite of the three, even though I know I'm supposed to say the Sticky Toffee Pudding, which was also great, but for my taste it's different and can't compare the two. You should definitely visit the restaurant and hope to have a great window view facing the water depending on when you set a reservation. Just anticipate some additional wait time even though you have a reservation.

Yelp
Such an amazing place! I mean the ambience goes without question. I took my Girlfriend there for her Birthday dinner, and she had a great time. However, I would've enjoyed it, if our server Isaiah payed more attention to us. Throughout the night he checked on us about three times, out of one; I asked him if he could talk to the chef and make a request for me. He first gave me some BS excuse about the food being prepped 40hrs ago, before following my order. We were waiting for him to return with an answer... When he finally arrived (after I asked another server to find him, because he was talking in the corner doing nothing, ignoring the hands of his customers requesting for him in a polite manner.) I asked any update about my request? He proceeded to lie and say no they can't do that. I ordered the 8 ounce filet mignon well done, which came back dry and undercooked, pink in the middle. I will recommend my friends to come to this place, but as they're heading there ...to pray that Isaiah is not their server. What happened to those days when servers used to go find something to do or walk around and asking every table are you alright? Do you need any assistance? How's the food going? Nowadays they only care about their tips. By the way I didn't leave a tip because ISAIAH didn't deserve one.

Yelp
This is a great place to experience especially if you like Gordon Ramsay! The food was good and cooked very well. There was no surprises on the menu. Got the beef Wellington and short ribs! Side of Mac and cheese and mushrooms I will say, I was not a fan of the cocktails. They definitely were lacking some body to it. Tasted a bit watered down. The restaurant is right next to the water and the view was so nice! Service was great, no issues!

Yelp
It might be that I had high expectation for this place with Gordon Ramsay's name on it but I was quite disappointed with the food. It was definitely a show to see the cooks yelling the order in a synchronized way, but food was really mediocre. We tried the infamous Wellington beef, lobster risotto and au gratin potatoes. The Wellington beef had a soggy exterior with a tasteless center, sauce was quite boring. Lobster risotto was slightly better, but nothing to our surprise with the rice slighly al dente (I think that's normal). Potatoes were very cheesy and oily. Everything was not good nor bad. It's worth a try if you haven't tried before, but really overpriced for average food. You're paying for the name more than for the food. Service was alright as the server noticed tables not finishing their Wellington Beef. We heard other customers complain about the sogginess of it as well. She quickly avoided any more eye contact to ask whether everything was good LOL. This is a nice location with a view, but the same plaza have plenty of options.

Yelp
Hell's Kitchen was at the top of the list to celebrate my sister's birthday. She's a huge fan of the show. The restaurant is located waterfront at The Wharf. After a short wait in the bar area, we were escorted upstairs to a table for two right in front of the Potomac. It was really cold outside so it was a little chilly by the window. The service was very good and our server assisted us with selecting our drinks. Now, to the food! Scallops: 9/10 the scallops were cooked perfected and very flavorful! Lobster risotto: 10/10 the flavor! Omg! The best risotto I've ever had. The lobster was cooked perfectly as well. Beef Wellington: 10/10 I've only had beef Wellington one other time, and it didn't compare to this one. The flaky crust was so flavorful and the steak was cooked perfectly! The portion size of the dish was well worth the $74. Mac and Cheese: 7/10 very cheesy and enjoyed the pancetta. It needed a bit more seasoning to make the dish full bodied. Toffee Pudding: 10/10 I'm not a dessert person, but I ate this entire thing! It was delicious. I love toffee flavored anything so this was a nice treat for the end of the meal. I'd go back just to eat this! Overall, this experience was a 9/10! I dropped one star because they add a 20% service charge that is not gratuity. On the bill it says to cover employee wages and one other item.....I'm no stranger to up scale restaurants and I see service charges anywhere from 3-6% all the time. Never 20%! My hope is that the staff receives higher than normal wages due to this high charge.

Yelp
Chefs table experience was NEXT LEVEL! Chef Christ made me feel so special on my birthday! The food was all so delicious. Lobster risotto was the runaway favorite. We got my bestie to try octopus and she liked it! Brought 2 of my sons who watch Gordon's shows and cook with me. It is really nice inside and they gave us a private area. Next time I want to sit by open kitchen to watch Christ and the other chefs cook!

Yelp
Solid 4.5 stars. 1. Reservation: required if you want to sit upstairs. Bar area is open, you don't need reservation and it serves the entire menu. 2. Food: tastes good Octopus: excellent Scallops: very delicious Lobster risotto: good, don't get the entree size unless you are very hungry Short ribs: well executed, order a side, cause you only get the meat 3. Dessert: 3 stars They actually have rather disappointing tasting dessert for their caliber 4. Drinks: 4.5 stars Menu changes but many remain the same. I like their passion fruit cocktail and their bourbon is good and wine selection is great. 5. Service: is polite, professional 6. Interior: very loud, occasionally you need to shout. View is great if you sit by the window. 7. Service charge: they automatically charge 20% no matter the size of your party. even if you ate alone and they ask you to tip on that amount that includes the 20% charge. This is ridiculous.

Yelp
We had a large party celebrating a birthday and went Gordon Ramsay Hell's Kitchen for lunch. It was pretty empty, but the interior of the restaurant was gorgeous. It's also located on the Wharf so beautiful water views. The service was great as we had two waiters who were attentive. For appetizers, we ordered the steak tartare, lobster risotto, and wagyu meatballs. These were amazing! However, for entree I ordered the filet mignon in medium rare and unfortunately it was overcooked. This was the case for everyone who ordered filet mignon at the table. I was quite disappointed as you'd think this would be a great place to get a perfectly cooked steak. Appetizers were great but entree could be a whole lot better!

Yelp
It was my first time here, my boyfriend had brought me here for my birthday. The place was nice, and the hostesses were nice as well and accommodated us even though we were a couple minutes past our reservation due to the difficulty of finding parking. I ordered the crispy skin salmon, and my boyfriend ordered the filet mignon which was not cooked to his liking. He requested well cooked but what was brought to the table was likely a medium rare steak. I truly believe our waitress Isaiah did not inform the kitchen of how he wanted his steak done. However, I enjoyed my crispy skin salmon, I wish there was a bit more of the sticky rice to have an equivalent rice to fish ratio. Overall the salmon was good with the green curry.

Yelp
Visiting DC to celebrate my bros birthday and came here for dinner. I mean, if you're a fan of the show and it's a must see. We were told that it's the only Hell's Kitchen Gordon Ramsey owns, but it's definitely a pricy experience. We had the wagyu meatballs and lobster risotto for our appetizer and the Mac and cheese, brussel sprouts and elote for our sides. I got the braised short rib as my entree which we were told by the waiter that it was a small portion, and well, although I finished it, it wasn't small. Definitely something that can be shared. The brussel sprouts were pretty good, the Mac and cheese had a good flavor, and the elote were just ok. The appetizers we had though were yummy. The wagyu meatballs were my favorite and the lobster risotto was pretty good. Overall it was a good experience. Something to try once.

Yelp
Being able to dine at Gordon Ramsay's house kitchen was a dream come true for me. It was one in one of the restaurants I've been dying to. His Beef Wellington exceeded all my expectations and was probably the best beef Wellington I've ever had in my life. The service was outstanding. I've never expected it to be so fast. Even though it's busy, our whole dining experience was very exceptional. Food ordered: * Wagyu Meatballs - very tasty. The tomato sauce complimented the meatballs. * Baked Macaroni & Cheese * Beef Wellington - A Must Have. I recommend this restaurant for Gordon Ramsay's & the TV show's, Hell's Kitchen, fans or if you love upscale dining experience.

Yelp
I was excited to visit this restaurant when it first opened but decided to wait a couple of months, giving them time to iron out any initial kinks. When I finally made a reservation for dinner, I was pleasantly greeted upon arrival. The restaurant has a nice sleek, modern décor, and I'd recommend dressing business casual to match the vibe. I was seated by a window with a stunning view of the river and sunsett's. Its definitely worth trying to book a window seat if you can. We sampled a variety of dishes, from the famous Beef Wellington to mac and cheese, and everything was delicious. The food was great, and the service was prompt and attentive. The staff made sure we had everything we needed throughout the evening. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a dinner date, a dressy friends gathering, or even business meeting.

Yelp
An Unforgettable Culinary Experience! From the moment we walked in, the experience was pure magic. The gentleman who greeted and seated us set the tone for what was to come--an evening of perfection. My wife and I opted for the pre-fix (3-course) menu, and every bite was a revelation. We kicked things off with the pan-seared scallops and a harvest salad that was a symphony of fresh, crisp flavors. But the real star? The Beef Wellington. I've had my fair share of steaks--filets, sirloins, ribeyes--you name it, but nothing compares to this. It was so tender, so juicy, it practically melted in my mouth. It was like slicing through butter. Absolute heaven on a plate! Paired with the garlic mashed potatoes and perfectly seasoned vegetables, it was a meal for the books. And then came dessert. The sticky toffee "cake" with ice cream was hands-down the best sweet indulgence I've ever tasted. Rich, warm, and utterly decadent. The ambiance was the cherry on top. Perfect lighting, a beautifully designed layout, and a view that just tied everything together. Our waitress, Melinda? A total pro--polished, friendly, and attentive in every way. Honestly, this wasn't just a meal--it was an experience worthy of 10 stars. We'll be back, no doubt!

Yelp
A home run again and a new menu. Since my first visit, I've had the privilege of coming to HK multiple times over the past year. Each time builds on the first with an improved experience, delicious food, crafted cocktails, and decadent desserts. Today was no exception. Despite my short notice, the four top tables Ashley was more than able to accommodate. Atmosphere: The buzz and excitement in the restaurant were palpable from the moment I entered. We were seated promptly, and the host was engaging. She asked questions of me and my guest to gauge our knowledge of the show. We were seated promptly, and our server, Jordan, quickly joined the table to ensure everything was to our liking. Food: The food was as expected--phenomenal! I loved the new menu, which had plenty of pleasant surprises. The revamped scallop dish was fantastic. The three larger scallops made up for the five split scallops. The Caesar salad was a hit, and the mocktail for my son was spot on. Our server assistant, Lorenzo, was a perfect accompaniment to the service team. The food and drinks: The lobster risotto was excellent, and it was even better that they could make a tasty vegan version for my son. The Brussels sprouts were revamped and fantastic--they had the perfect bite and balance of sweetness and heat. The star of the night for my cousin was the Branzino fish. It was a delicate fish topped with a fragrant tapenade over perfectly cooked Swiss chard. The dessert is always a hit, and I'd rate it up with another steak place's butter cake dessert--certainly Top Tier. While the food was great, the service and care the entire kitchen team took to ensure my son's allergy needs were met without compromising flavor were truly impressive.

Yelp
We come here for our anniversary before Lindsey Stirling concert and so glad we did. We ordered lobster risotto and pan sear scallop for appetizer. The Lobster Risotto is amazing. JUST WOW. Flavorful, creamy and the lobster tail is not chewy at all. They didn't cook the lobster together with the risotto and not making the risotto has fishy taste. The Scallop was just alright. Nothing special or stand out. Main course we orderd Idiot Sandwich and Beef Wellington. The sandwich was ehhh kind bland nothing special for a pull pork sandwich. The beef Wellington was great! Tender, flavorful. Definitely recommended. Now the dessert, the DESSERT IS A MUST ORDER. Especially, the Toffee Pudding and coconut three way together. I would come back just for the dessert alone. Restaurant is very classy and simple decorated. The server was great, very attentive but not overbearing. We spend $350 included 2 cocktails also with tips. On the expensive side but definitely worth trying

Yelp
This place was horrible. Only rated two stars because the saving grace was our Server and the food. There wasn't any hosts in the restaurant to greet us, said our friend's name wrong - "Nigga Yen" and took awhile to get us sat when there's clearly tables available outside and inside on the second floor. We were told that the server(s) were overwhelmed yet I saw two come downstairs complaining about why they aren't being sat so.... What's the actual issue? It's also crazy because I think I saw employees hiding in some secret closet constantly to avoid people, dude where's Gordon when you need him? The menu(s) were sticky, and had sauce on them, the scallops were great, Wellington missing the prosciutto for some reason and the desserts were actually really good. I personally found the Wagyu Meatballs extremely underwhelming as well as the Cocktails. Note from Gordon was funny, but man the experience sucked. My Pops said let it go but man fuck this place. I feel like that segregation scandal last year was real and it's crazy how so many employees are still here despite it all going down. Vegas and Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut was better than this.

Yelp
Had been dying to try this restaurant. Came here mid week. We sat near the kitchen which added an interesting twist. We ordered our apps: Caesar salad, steak tartare, scallops and our main: Mac and cheese , Branzino, short ribs, bulgar lentils. We enjoyed the apps. Everything was delicious! I loved the salad and scallops. I don't eat steak tartare but my friend loved it. Portions were a good size. At this point I wasn't feeling great. So when the mains arrived, we packed them all to go. I ate them over the next few days. Wow. I really want to replicate the bulgar lentil dish. It was outstanding reheated and even cold. The fish was great. Mac and cheese always reheats well! I would definitely return!

Yelp
Make reservations! Service here was amazing. Our server was very detailed in explaining the menu and providing recommendations :) We tried the scallops, beef wellington, lobster tail add on, baked gouda mac and cheese, sticky toffee pudding, and coconut three ways! For drinks, we ordered the lychee coolers (highly recommend!). EVERYTHING was delicious. I especially loved the baked gouda mac and cheese. Of course the beef wellington lived up to its hype as the star dish. Ambiance was great as well. The only critique is that food came out slower than anticipated, but our server apologized for that and checked up on us despite the kitchen taking longer than usual. Overall, 10/10 and can't wait to be back :)

Yelp
This is our second go around with the Hell's Kitchen restaurant and food quality, customer service, and taste is top-notch! I tried the Wellington this time, and I'll be going back to my crunchy skin salmon - not that the Wellington isn't delicious but it's just my preference. The mac n cheese is cheesy, and we loved the pasta they used since it sopped up all the "cheez!" The Brussel Sprouts had some teriyaki flavored sauce to it with red chilies and it all just worked together. The drinks were fabulous and the desserts were delectable. Would certainly be back in this joint but will be asking for the window table on the blue side for the water views.

Yelp
Very fancy and the food shows for it! The lobster risotto is absolutely incredible. The salads are well dressed and sides are flavorful as well. Delicious!

Yelp
It's been a while so we thought we would revisit this location. TBH if it weren't for our server Jordan, I would probably score this place wayyyy lower for customer service. We were "walk-in" on a Saturday afternoon. We asked if there was availability, one hostess was helpful til her coworker chimed in and said we're booked and we can't accommodate you. So we left, looked on Open Table and got an immediate reservation 10 minutes later!!!? When we came in... that same Hostess, would not establish eye contact and just told us to wait to be seated. Funny, she can say this looking down... clearly knowing she was rude. Food wise Market salad-tasty and shareable Wagyu beef meatballs- delicious and not salt or with fillers Idiot Sandwich- tasty, kinda heavy and the tomato chutney had a nice kick. Food is solid, service is good, except for our initial encounter... Do Better!

Yelp
Made reservations for a Friday night. Not a long wait. We enjoyed the bar area while waiting and service was great. Layout of the restaurant is somewhat spacious and elegant. Customer service was great. We enjoyed the beef Wellington along with other menu items that were very tasty and enjoyable for celebrating a special occasion in July. The only thing we found interesting was that the restrooms both male and female were awful. Not maintained and smelled like a public bathroom in the city where homeless people go. And then where the elevator is and where you enter and exit from the first floor, the floors there had a horrid odor and was not kept clean. Other than that, everything else was lovely.

Yelp
Omg ! I finally found some great tasting food in DC. My favorite dish that I highly recommended is the Lobster Risotto . It was flavorful, moist and to die for. The portion size is not large however I felt that it is just enough that will fill you up. The pizza was very good as well. The slices had flavor and the mushrooms on the pizza were good . Lastly I ordered for desert the sticky toffee puffing. It was just ok. It was very sweet but not worth the price . Overall I had a great experience & I definitely plan on returning again to try the rest of the menu.

Yelp
Wow. Let me start by saying I have seen every episode of Hell's Kitchen and I am a huge fan of Gordon Ramsay so I was pumped to be able to dine here. This restaurant was located in a beautiful area with walking distance to so many other establishments and right on the water. There is a lounge and seating area downstairs with the main seating upstairs. Our server was so nice and attentive to everything we needed. They even had the red side and blue side for cooking and searing. The servers wore red or blue socks depending on the side they were serving. It was super cool. This 100% lived up to the hype. The lobster risotto was velvety, creamy, and delicious. It was hands down the best thing I have ever eaten. The scallops were cooked to perfection. The beef Wellington was great but in my opinion not worth the cost ($74). Our drinks were delicious. Overall, it was totally worth it. The food was awesome and the experience was even better. Although I had been in town for a wedding, I would come back just to have that risotto again. This is definitely some place you want to experience!

Yelp
An incredible dining experience from start to finish! There was a little bit of a wait to get seated despite having a reservation, but it was understandable since they were extremely busy the night we went. The interior is beautifully decorated and I love how there's an open kitchen so you can watch the magic happen. My party wanted to try a little bit of everything so to start we got the Lobster Rissoto and you know it's good when my non-seafood eating friend was pleasantly surprised with how good it is! For entrees we split the Short Rib, Beef Wellington (of course), and the Salmon (which is very underrated and super delicious). We also got the Cheesecake and Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert and out of the two I preferred the Cheesecake because the pudding was a little too sweet for my liking. A special experience and a must-try!

Yelp
The decor is really clean and modern. It makes you feel classy just walking in. The napkins and silverware are a great detail. The service was weird and the server had stained clothing, was slow (not crowded at all) and continued to call me "fam" what???? The oysters Rockefeller were too mushy. The burger lacked flavor and although served with fries only came with a different kind of dipping sauce. When asked for a to go box, the server brought my food back to kitchen (even though I said I wanted to box) and then didn't give me any dipping sauce for the fries. The margarita pizza was a great deal. I'd never overpay again oh and beware they add 20% gratuity to your bill no matter the party size... I was with one person.

Yelp
What can I say? Nothing short of amazing, from the service to the food, to the whole feel of the restaurant. I decided on the roasted chicken with mash. I've never had chicken that melted in. Your mouth smh. This will be a restaurant experience to remember for years to come.

Yelp
It's was beyond anything I can describe. I went there to celebrate my 31st birthday and it was amazing. Our server Jennifer was amazing and very knowledgeable of the menu. I had got the wagu meatballs as my appetizer. It was nice and moist and delicious. My entree was the famous beef Wellington and it blew my expectations. Finally my dessert was sticky toffee pudding which was delicious. I would definitely go back to that location. Plus we were sitting in the chef table area.

Yelp
This restaurant is mediocre on a good day. Most of the time, the food tastes like it comes from a fancy cafeteria. You can tell the place has low expectations when its appeal is centered around a TV show. Additionally, for a restaurant that charges $100 per person, they should be able to turn on the heating. We had to keep our jacket on the whole time. Counting down the days until this place is out of business.

Yelp
Great service unfortunately the air upon entering was not operable. We sat on the Hell side/RED, no pun intended, right about the downstairs bar. So it was very hot and humid on the second floor. The dinning area upstairs is much like what you see on the television show there's a red side and a blue side. My party of two enjoyed The 18 Stars and A Note from Gordon for our beverages. A Note from Gordon taste a watered down Arnold Palmer with Sprite. While the 18 Stars was surprisingly Spicy. For starters we enjoyed the Wagyu Meatballs, seared Scallops and Sweet Corn Soup. I think the scallops could have been bigger followed by the Crispy Skin Salmon served over sticky rice and slaw with a green coconut curry cream puree. and the dinner Prix Fixe with Seared thank scallops, beef, Wellington, and dessert was the sticky Toffee Pudding and Coconut 3way

Yelp
WHERE DO I BEGIN. Gordon Ramsey... the MAN you are in the kitchen! When I say that we ate well, we ate WELL. The ambience, the view, the service... I went in expected it to be overhyped (if I'm being honest) and Hell's Kitchen exceeded my expectations! Now, let's get into the food: The Caesar Salad at Hell's Kitchen is nothing short of perfection. The romaine lettuce was crisp and fresh, coated with a dressing that had just the right balance of creaminess and tang. The dressing wasn't overly heavy, allowing the flavors of the anchovies, garlic, and Parmesan to shine through beautifully. The croutons were crunchy and flavorful, adding the perfect texture contrast. It's a classic done right, elevating simplicity to something truly memorable. The Lobster Risotto at Hell's Kitchen is pure decadence. The risotto was cooked to that perfect al dente texture, creamy without being mushy. The rich, buttery flavor of the lobster was beautifully infused throughout the dish, with generous chunks of tender lobster meat providing a luxurious bite. The seasoning was spot on, with a hint of lemon zest that added a lovely brightness, cutting through the richness. It's the kind of dish that makes you savor every mouthful, and leaves you dreaming about it long after your plate is empty. Overall, both dishes exemplify the high standards Hell's Kitchen is known for. The attention to detail and the quality of ingredients shine through, making this a dining experience one to remember.

Yelp
I had the opportunity to finally visit Hell's Kitchen recently, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. From the atmosphere to the great customer service, everything was top notch. I highly recommend! The Braised Short Rib was so tender and succulent. It definitely stole the show! The Sticky Toffee Pudding was warm and gooey and absolutely divine. And a special shoutout to Taanya, our server. She was awesome and got some good taste! I'll be back one day.

Yelp
Today I had the pleasure of visiting Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen Washington DC location. I looked at the menu before going so I could have an idea as to what I wanted however, once i got in and saw all the dishes wizzing by I quickly forgot what it was that I wanted! From the moment you get in, all of your senses are bombarded (with amazing smells and the sounds from the kitchen - staff banter and an occasional "YES CHEF")! OK, so let's get into the food. Of course I had to have Gordon Ramsay's famous beef Wellington! I thought it was just gonna be a whole bunch of; you know everybody liked it because of the hype and because of the GR name attached to it, nonsense but no...absolutely not! This was the absolute best beef Wellington I've ever had and I've had a few. It was TENDER. The pastry was FLAKY. The mashed. potatoes were delicious and creamy. Everything was just perfect. The salmon with the crispy skin was another dish that was ordered . So fresh and flaky. I didn't really care for the apple slaw, but all in all it was tasty. The other dish was the tofu fried rice and the sauce for it was some of the best I've ever had. The star of dessert was the sticky toffee pudding! OMG! It was to die for ! It was everything that we heard it to be and more. We also ordered the lemon blueberry cheesecake. The lemon custard or curd or whatever it was, that was on the plate was something I can't even describe. It was so good. It was creamy. It was lemony and the cheesecake was the perfect consistency nice sweet blueberries!!! DECADENT! If I could've gotten away with licking the plate, well... Aaaaah, my cocktail of choice was the Notes From Gordon (signature cocktail at all Gordon Ramsay Hell's Kitchen restaurants): Plymouth gin, green tea, lemongrass, peach, and lemon - SO YUMMY and the special feature: Includes a message from Gordon Ramsay! Super cute! Overall, I thought it was gonna be one of those restaurants that everyone hyped up just because it was a GR establishment! Thought it wasn't gonna be as good as everybody said, but I was pleasantly surprised, and it was even better. Let me not fail to mention that our wait person (Michelle) was great from start to finish and truly enhanced a pretty perfect dining experience!! *I suggest you do a ride share to the wharf for 2 reasons: 1-the cocktails are pretty potent and 2-parking is a totally avoidable bill!

Yelp
When my date had suggested we have dinner at Hell's Kitchen at the Wharf in DC, I was doubtful of whether we'd be able to secure a reservation, but it must've been our lucky day! We were able to get same-day reservations on a Sunday night at 8:30pm. I was pleasantly surprised and so excited for this first-time experience to a Hell's Kitchen! Parking was as expected for a popular area in the city inside a garage - expensive (although slightly less expensive on the weekend compared to the weekdays). Upon walking into the restaurant, the first floor is the bar area, which had comfortable chairs and small tables. After checking in with the hostess, we waited a few minutes before we were escorted upstairs to the dining room where we passed by the open kitchen (designed to look like the kitchen on the set of the Hell's Kitchen TV series). My date ordered the prix fixe menu, so he got pan-seared scallops for the first course, Beef Wellington as the entree, and sticky toffee pudding as the dessert. As for myself, I had a lychee cooler mocktail, lobster risotto, and braised short rib as my entrée. The mocktail had a slight hint of lychee and grapefruit flavor and only slightly sweet, but missed the mark for me. I expected the drink to be more refreshing and perhaps could've been better with some carbonation and a little more lychee syrup. I'd try another drink if you're looking for something refreshing to pair with your meal. As for the appetizers, the pan-seared scallops came with 3 large scallops served on a small bed of corn purée with some garnish on top of the scallops, and the lobster risotto had a good sized lobster tail on top of a bed of risotto. Although the scallops were really tasty, the lobster risotto was our favorite of the two. The risotto was perfectly cooked, served piping hot, and the lobster tail was exquisite! (Just thinking about the dish is making my mouth water!) Both the Beef Wellington and the braised short rib were very good. The pastry portion of the beef Wellington was flaky on the outside, and the filet mignon was cooked perfectly medium, as ordered. The braised short rib was extremely tender, and practically melts in your mouth, so be sure to take your time to enjoy the dish for all its glory. Oh, not to mention the presentation of this dish was almost too pretty to eat! (Check out the photo below). We both shared the sticky toffee pudding, which we thoroughly enjoyed - so delicious! Our server was friendly and very service oriented, which is expected for a Gordon Ramsay establishment. Overall, I would highly recommend dining here if you get the chance to enjoy a slightly splurge meal!

Yelp
My bestie and I came here for dinner and we had a great time. The service was attentive and the food was delicious. The drink we had (a concoction from the bartender since nothing on the menu caught our eye) was underwhelming. I wanted something with St Jermaine or lychee flavored and what we got was something that I could not discern but we drank it anyways. Little did we know it was charged as a Belvedere martini. We both ordered the prix fixed menu and chose the scallops for our appetizer, beef wellington, and the sticky toffee bread pudding. Again, service was exceptional. Our waitress was great. The food, delicious. We enjoyed the food and experience. Here is the sketchy part. Once the bill arrived my friend noticed tip was included (20%). The bill for the prix fixed dinner ($115 each), 2 drinks came to $353. Yikes. Upon further examination she read that the 20% was NOT tip but a service charge distributed to staff. What? I get a credit card service fee some places charge but this was not. So we are supposed to tip on top of the bill with the service charge, so 40% of the bill?! That was insane and seemed so shady AF when it was not stated anywhere or explain what in the name that is for or about. We will definitely never come back again due to this fact alone. The food was good but not $400 good. Honestly I could've passed all together had I known how steep it would be. So, be prepared if you still want to experience it. I'm good and am left with mixed emotions.

Yelp
Fun experience. If you want to enjoy the amusing (albeit a little gimmicky) vibe of the Hells Kitchen competition and Gordon Ramsay's sense of humor, while eating some tasty (albeit pricey) food and drinks, give this spot a try! It's worth a visit to say you did. The service was decent but fell short of what I would expect from a high end restaurant. Our waiter forgot to put in the order for our side of mac and cheese, so we didn't get it until we finished the rest of our food. My partner also ordered a beer and we had to flag down our waiter to get that as well. The cocktails were well made and the food was great. The standouts were the Beef Wellington and the mac and cheese (not pictured). They were both delicious! The salmon gets an honorable mention. Given the HK prices and the abundance of other excellent food options in the Wharf and in DC in general, I probably won't go back anytime soon unless I'm craving those dishes in particular. That being said, if you haven't been, go for the experience!

Yelp
With all the hype on perfection that anyone would expect from Hell's Kitchen honestly I just wasn't feeling it. The dishes and drinks I received were good not amazing but good. My Steak TarTar was delicious and the best part of my meal. My branzino was good but there were some seriously large bones in it that took away from the flavor. The brussel sprouts good but really too sweet taking that beautiful funk away and the Fresno chilies were completely hidden. The service was almost apologetic since I heard from our server he might get fired if ... look I honestly loved the experience but not something I'm eager to try again. Overall I enjoyed the restaurant and the idea behind it but it also lacked that Gordon Ramsay demand to ensure a great experience.

Yelp
Ambiance: (4/5) I liked how there were some outdoors seats and plenty of indoor seating. They have great decor. It is really on brand. The music was way too loud. I was yelling across the table to talk to people and we only had a party of 6. Price: (3/5) Prices are very high. You do have to consider location and the Gordon Ramsay name attached to the restaurant. Food: This is hard to rank. I would say the scallops were phenomenal. Great start to the fixed dinner. I was disappointed in the beef Wellington. It was hard to cut and was not as tender as I thought it was going to be. I tried the short rib and that meat was really tender. The short rib came with a potato cake type of thing that had great seasoning. The last course was the dessert. And that is why this ranking is confusing. That dessert alone could have pushed my 4 star review to a 5, but I had to consider the other categories as well. I will say that is the best dessert I've ever had. Lastly, the Mac and cheese was amazing. If I were to come back, I would go for the Mac and cheese and dessert. Service: (3/5) I was excepting more from a fine dining experience. Service was a bit slower than I expected.

Yelp
We were walking the wharf in DC getting thirsty so stopped in here for refreshing cocktails. They did not disappoint with their drink menu. We ordered the Pitchfork and Ancho Paloma. Both very tasty. The lounge's is beautifully decorated and has comfortable seating where we were able to relax and catch up with our daily lives.

Yelp
Actual Score 4.5 stars Dinner service for 4 Ordered: Pan Seared Scallops x2, Ceasar Salad, Lobster risotto x3, Grilled Branzino x2, Braised Short Ribs, Mac & Cheese, Brussel Sprouts, Sticky Toffee Pudding x3, Pineapple Carpaccio The star of the show by far was the service. Jordan our server was very attentive & Ashley the manager was diligent in making sure accommodations were made for a severe food allergy. She checked on us throughout the evening and was very hospitable. The risotto was perfectly prepared & the scallops delicious as well. The lemon zest gave the Ceasar salad surprisingly refreshing pop. The Branzino needed a citrus note to take it over the top, but still good. Short Ribs were fork tinder and were served in a flavorful reduction. The Brussel sprouts were the best I've had in a while. The Mac & Cheese was average. The Pineapple Carpaccio was a miss, but the Sticky Toffee Puddling was a great ending to a great dinner.

Yelp
Delicious but also disappointing. I started with the lobster risotto. It was served to me in less than 2 minutes. To me, the idea of fine dining includes food made for you. This was faster than a burger at drive thru. Same thing for the beef Wellington. That took 3 minutes. The mashed potatoes were cold and the vegetables still raw. It was a good dinner but I had expected a lot more! Service was fabulous!!! Second review, downgrading them to 2 stars. They automatically charge a 20% fee. Servers only get 10% the restaurant gets 6% like they don't already charge enough and the rest is distributed. Awful way to run a restaurant. Will never support Ramsey again!!!!!!!

Yelp
I have to say that this place lived up to the hype! I intentionally waited a few months to visit to let things settle. My girlfriend and I decided to get a few items to share, along with solo items. All the food was absolutely amazing! My only regret is that I didn't get the Beef Wellington, so that means I have to come back Our server Taanya was perfect. She knew the menu and was able to give us recommendations. The restaurant was busy but it wasn't super loud. We were able to sit right be the "red" side of the kitchen, so we could observe some cooking action. Overall, it was quite the dining experience and I absolutely recommend!

Yelp
When I walked in, the greeter was not friendly. He asked for my name and then told me to wait, that was extremely off putting. Waitress was wonderful, very attentive however my friend was disappointed that her water wasn't topped off. My food was cold, appetizer and main entree. I'm not sure why but everything I received was cold. Some items were very salty. It was a great experience but I wouldn't go back.

Yelp
Took my mom for her birthday, the ambiance is great as was the server. The food was okay. The chef was a little heavy handed on the cream in both the riscotto and Gouda Mac. The spiral pasta noodles in the Gouda Mac are much bigger than the norm making the mac kind of starchy. Not a dealbreaker though, I'll definitely be back. I think because a chefs name is attached to it i was expecting perfection. Every place has its thing though so i plan on trying something different next time. Overall we enjoyed ourselves and can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Anniversary dinner made all the more special thanks to the team at Hells Kitchen. Amazing views and service add to the culinary experience. Unfortunately ran a bit late for my reservation but the team was able to still squeeze me that same evening for dinner. Granted I was on hold for about 45-50mins before reaching someone but once I did they were very quick to help. Once arrived we were seated away from the kitchen which was a bummer however the scenery was still beautiful as the sun began to set along the outer windows. Server came by and quickly ran us through drinks and we were taken by a bit of a shock as there were so many types of water so we panic picked bottled. After going through some recommendations we got the scallop appetizer, Wellington entrees, and sticky toffee pudding dessert. I wish I got our gentlemen servers name as he was very generous and provided a glass of champagne and apple crumble cheesecake complimentary for our special day. The scallops were absolutely to die for as it was personally our favorite dish, risotto and Wellington while both very delicious as well feel mostly overhyped. Dessert, the sticky toffee pudding was amazing as our server also mentioned it's Gordon's moms recipe (much love out to her) Overall it's definitely an opportunity I'd recommend for everyone. Just needs to fix hold times on the phone.

Yelp
I am a big fan of Gordon Ramsay. I visit every restaurant of his no matter which country or city I am. Thus, visiting Hell's Kitchen in DC is a must for me. I made reservation via the website which was super easy. The restaurant is big. It is a two-storey restaurant with a huge indoor seating, and a small outdoor seating. The restaurant faces the water with good amount of sun coming into the restaurant. The bar area is on the first floor while the open kitchen is on the second floor. The vibe of the first floor is more for drinks and finger food while the second floor is more for seat-down proper dining. There is a small private area (accommodates 4 tables of about 8 seaters) on the back of second floor. I love it that customers could view the hardworking chefs from the tables. It is a beautiful restaurant. I had the dinner prix fixe which is a good value set dinner. On top of that, I had the lobster risotto and grilled octopus as appetizers. The crispy skin salmon and baked Mac & cheese were also my food choices. All the appetizers were amazing. The scallops were cooked perfectly and the corn purée was yum. The lobster risotto is cooked perfectly, and the taste was perfect. I highly recommend the grilled octopus. The sauce was perfect, and the grilled octopus was grilled perfectly. The beef wellington was o-m-g awesome. Perfect temperature on the beef, pastry was great, and the mash potato was of perfect texture and taste. The salmon by default was cooked medium. The salmon was so fresh, soft, and melt-in-your-mouth. The baked mac and cheese was cheesily good and rich. Absolutely amazing. No meal is complete without ending it with dessert. The sticky toffee pudding was so soft and of the right sweetness. I finished the whole plate literally in just 2mins. I highly recommend making reservation in advance as the restaurant fills up pretty fast during dinner time. I received A+ service, and don't expect anything less in Gordon Ramsay's restaurant. Gordon Ramsay cookbooks and tees are sold in the restaurant too.

Yelp
Our group went to the DC Wharf and got a chance to experience Gordon Ramsey's "Hell's Kitchen" restaurant. I can honestly say that based on what we ordered the food did not disappoint. We all ordered the 20oz bone-in ribeye steak cooked medium (pink/red in the middle). We split sides of mac & cheese, whipped mashed potatoes and broccolini. I was please that the food came out hot, fresh and picture perfect. The food was tasty and seasoned perfectly. We also split a nicely prepared Caesar salad that was extremely delicious. For appetizers we had lobster risotto and the best scallops I've had to date. The dessert was a lemon blueberry cheesecake that was just perfect. Our server Jennifer was energetic, cheerful, knowledgeable of the menu and extremely helpful. By far this spot is in my top dining experiences. I loved every bite and moment. I highly recommend enjoying the dining experience. You won't be disappointed. I will say that parking at the DC Wharf in general is absolutely horrible so come early as it can take time to find a spot. We loved our drinks, dinner, the atmosphere and service. We rated the experience a 5 out of 5 easily. Loved it and it was all that!
