Gordon Ramsay Street Burger Restaurant Replaces Byron Charing Cross Road | Eater London

"Scheduled to open next month for outdoor service, this two-floor, 2,000+ sq ft street-burger outlet occupies the former Byron site at 24-28 Charing Cross Road, just east of Chinatown and north of Trafalgar Square. Designed for casual, affordable dining at roughly £15 per head, the menu centers on burgers, fries and soft drinks, with offerings such as a smoked cheeseburger, a bacon-and-egg burger, a jalapeño-and-sriracha burger, and a chicken burger stuffed with a hash brown. The acquisition of the site reflects a celebrity chef-led expansion strategy targeting vacant casual-dining premises created by the market shakeout, positioning the concept as part of a broader 'land grab' for prominent city locations." - Adam Coghlan

The food was excellent. Had the Tandoori and the Truffle burger. Both tasty, juicy and filling, the chips were also very delightful. I had ordered a small serve of the hot wings just to give them a try, the wings felt a bit dry once bitten into, although the sauce was tasty. The reason for not a perfect 5 - the QR code is effective way to order food, however, do not slap on a 15% service fee onto the bill when I did my own ordering, one of my biggest hates. Simple solution though, just inform the friendly staff that you don’t want to pay it and they’ll remove it from the bill for you.

The whole place seemed a bit unclean and you could see the dust on the lights. I know from watching Gordon Ramsey on the TV he wouldn’t have been happy. It was ok, but I was personally a bit disappointed with the burgers considering the name Gordon Ramsey is used to sell the food. I’ve had better Burgers from other places and for much cheaper. It was good to give it a try but I wouldn’t go back. It was also a bit cheeky to try to take a service charge when you had to sort out your own payment using a QR code. Maybe we were unlucky and the standard had slipped this day either way it was a shame. The drinks were lovely though and very fresh. We had a few cocktails.

Burgers were exceptional! And the chicken was so good. Staff were nice and polite. We loved it. Of course when the Gordon Ramsay name is in it the prices are getting a little high, but it was worth the hype.

Good flavour and range. I wouldn't mind at all the "fast food" style service if it were priced accordingly. A mandatory service charge when ordering via QR is inexcusable, particularly when I'm sure the fee doesn't go directly to whomever served us. Food was good for a quick bite, however the menu didn't have the variety of burgers I'd expect from a specialised place.

Tried Next Level Burger and wow—name totally checks out. The burger was phenomenal—juicy, flavorful, and stacked just right. Even the plant-based patty had that perfect char and texture. The toppings were super fresh, the sauce was a flavor bomb, and the bun held it all together like a champ. It’s the kind of burger that makes you forget it’s actually good for you. Will 100% be back.

The burgers were juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection - even the vegan burger! The fries were crispy and well-seasoned and the drinks options were a great variety! The staff was friendly and attentive, and the service was quick even during the rush. The restaurant was clean, vibrant modern decor and had a great atmosphere.

I had such high expectations from Street Burger, and found my way here to satiate a burger craving. I got the Chilli Cheese Smash, with tortilla jalapeños and spicy cheese. The patty wasn’t really “smashed” and was quite thick. It was a decent burger, but I’ve definitely had way better. The vegan bites were quite blah, but the Hotter Than Hell sauce was really good. They forcefully add a 1£ donation and 15% service charge. My 32£ cheque was over 38£ after these “voluntary” charges. Quite appalling.

Stopped by this small burger spot with my son and had a great time. I really liked being able to order right from the table using a QR code. Super convenient, especially when you want to add something mid-meal. The service and staff was friendly and the food came out quickly. While the burgers weren’t the best we’ve ever had, they were definitely tasty and well-prepared, solid quality overall. Our fries were a little on the salty side, but not a dealbreaker. Overall, it was a really enjoyable burger stop. Like others have mentioned, the background music was a bit too loud, turning it down a notch would have made the experience even better.
