Gorges Beer Co. - SE Portland

My husband and I were recently at Gorges Beer Co. for a wedding. We enjoyed the food, drink, and scenery. The staff at this establishment were very kind and welcoming as well. We had a lovely evening and appreciated the hospitality.

My husband and I wandered in here on a whim on a Friday night and ended up being pleasantly surprised by the food! We both had Gorges burgers and I had a Mt. Defiance imperial IPA. The burger was cooked to perfection and the beer was delicious. Service was great, too. We’ll be back!

Really great, new brewery with delicious brews and tasty food. The fried chicken sandwich was so tender, crispy and juicy. The burger was medium well, full of flavor and very juicy. The avocado salad was a good choice too. We ordered a flight flight (choose 4) and ended up buying cans of the Multnomah falls hazy IPA and the triple falls smoothie. We also enjoyed the berry slushy cocktail made with tequila. The staff was helpful in answering questions, proactive in offering a taste of beer on tap and overall friendly all together. We'll definitely be back! Also, don't forget to order a side of fries because the burgers and sandwiches don't come with fries.

Really nice team, met the owner Travis who was super accommodating to our group of 6 including an energetic toddler. Sarah helped us out all evening and was really friendly and sweet. We will visit again next time we’re down from Seattle!

Making our way to Thunder Island for a sunny stroll, we stopped here for a bite - and wow, were we impressed! Staff were super friendly, food was spot on (we had mahi mahi fish tacos and pulled pork sandwich with rosemary garlic fries), beers were delicious, and the building and grounds have such a welcoming, peaceful vibe with incredible views all around (not shown are the river and Bridge of the Gods views). Dogs welcome too! We can't wait to return and definitely recommend a visit to Gorges!

Amazing views and food. Would be homier with table service but all the staff were incredibly friendly and the food came out quickly. No wait at noon on a Saturday. Lots of space for big groups!

A beautiful new brewery/restaurant in Cascade Locks that is definitely worth a visit, either as a stop off en route up the valley or as a destination in and of itself. The building is thoughtfully designed, with decor that pays homage to the local surroundings. There are three levels, each with well appointed furniture and a different ambiance for diners and drinkers. The third floor bar and patio is an obvious highlight, but I also enjoyed the mezzanine nook with comfy sofas and side tables for drinks. I had the Eggs Benedict and a side of glazed bacon as a brunch item, both were delicious and paired very well with the Bloody Mary that hit the mark after a prior night on the town. The beer menu spans a good range of taste profiles, ABV and hoppyness; and the service was friendly and prompt. The bar does not take cash but I was happy to note that they didn’t request a minimum charge on the card for my cup of coffee. All in all it is eminently worth a visit and I shall return, next time with the family in tow!

Excellent space. Really good server with good recommendations. Beer was awesome and the food was shockingly good for a brewery. Both burgers were cooked perfectly and candied pecans on a burger totally works! 🍔

I love coming to this spot on Wednesdays for BikePortland's bike happy hour The beers are all great, and the staff is delightful. The ambiance on the patio on a sunny afternoon is summer in Portland in a glass! If you enjoy riding bikes and drinking beer, please consider this an invitation to come to Bike Happy Hour sometime!

The beer is good, service is good. They have a good location. My one con is they serve hands down the worst salsa I've ever cursed my tastebuds with. It's straight up marinara sauce with some extra spices thrown in. You could go to a grocery store and buy the cheapest salsa there and would be leagues better than this. Obviously I'm being dramatic but please take this off the menu, your other food is probably great!

Good outdoor spot for a nice day to grab a beer. Nice patio. You can get food from Ankeny Tap & Table but not sure I'd recommend (was pretty average)

My wife and I finally stopped by and it was 10/10 experience! The servers were awesome, super simple to be able to order (right from your table QR code) and someone quickly brings you your food. Worked really efficiently and staff was super nice! The beer was reaaaaaallllyy great, and the food was fantastic! May be the best nachos I've had in Portland, and the Lamb burger was On a side note they have these really cute and fun Jell-O shots Definitely come here!

The whole vibe of this area is exactly what I wanted for the day. You can sit at any table on the street and order the beer or beers lol and get delivered to you! Easy Peasy!! There is also seating closer to the brewery with patio umbrellas and inside seating but we just needed to sit on this street :)

My wife and I stopped to get a cold beer while out on a bike ride. It was about 90 degrees and pretty much any beer would have sufficed but I was seriously impressed with George's. I had the juicy IPA and my wife had the Hefeweizen. The juicy was solid. Well balanced with big fruit notes, super cold, and just what I wanted. I had a sip of the hefe and it was also on point. I decided to get a few tall cans to go and the server was super helpful and friendly. I'll be back!

The brussels sprouts upset my stomach for days, and they signed me up for a mailing list without asking my permission. The beer was good enough.

The beer is mediocre af. this is like a tourist trap or something. also blocking one of the city's bike paths with the type of idiots who show up to places like this is not a great look. if you want a great experience with PNW beers look elsewhere.

I came with a friend a few weeks ago for their opening. It seemed like a pretty chill spot with a cozy crowd and vibe. I liked their beer which had a nice clean finish. I'd come back again some time to hang out!

We visit this place often for it's great atmosphere and large number of outdoor tables. The city has shut down the street for an entire block, which is covered with picnic tables! If we're going out as a family, my young kids pick the Rainbow Road. I like the convenience of ordering from my phone via QR code, with the added benefit of the full menu of a nearby restaurant. It's great if you want to visit a brewery but your companion would prefer liquor or something. As for the beer, there has always been a great selection with something for everyone. My favorite is Angel's Rest IPA, while my wife loves the wine barrel aged cherry Saison. The heated, covered patio in front of the brewery is perfect for Portland winter weather, with a Porter of course.

Gorges Brewing is one of my favorite places to hangout in Portland. A block off the Burnside, it is easily reachable by bike and bus. There is really nice covered seating close to the brewery and on Rainbow road. Scanning the QR code at the table opens up several dining and drink options at nearby establishments including Ankeny Tap. Beer and food brought right to your table from several locations! So easy and convienient. Or grab a cheese plate and ice cream from Cheese and Crack a block over. Back to Gorges ... All of their beers are solid and their match style well. I usually grab one of several IPAs on tap or if I can't decide I get a taster tray. Each beer is named for an area in the Gorge and makes me long to get back out there ASAP.

Kinda average. Really seem to be going after the session beer market with most beers in 5-6% range. Lots of good beers exist in these styles but I found theirs pretty average. Best example/to style was Cashmere Activewear pils- the Cashmere hops add a nice fruity touch to the straw flavor from the pilsner malt and the beer was clean. Could have finished a little drier, though. Their other beers weren't great versions of the respective styles or very unique. Kind of a "house flavor" thing going on. Props, though, for the strong cucumber flavor in the Cucumbia River saison. The Raspberry Trail Bar stout hit me with just a ton of heat after a smidge of raspberry aroma. Maybe too many things going on here. You'll either like their beer or not- if session beers are your focus you might find a pale, pils, or "session IPA" that works. Gorges is proud of their beers... $27 for two flights of 4 tasters of their beers. A little steep unless the beers are more unusual, special, expensive to make IMO. Still need to get out to the Cascade Locks location, and Gorges is worth supporting. I'd just like to see some higher level beers. Food available through Ankeny Tap and Table, lots of seating in heated tent out front in bad weather or outdoor tables in better weather. Location is very basic- cashier stand at front with brewery off limits to customers behind. Order from QR code at table is available.

I happened to come across Gorges while on a walk and saw their sign for online orders, since due to COVID we can't go inside. I ordered a four-pack of the golden ale for my husband ($12.50) and one single can of the porter ($3.50) for me. The cans are 16oz. There were six options online and a couple other in person but we're mostly IPA, which isn't my thing. But the porter is really delicious -- not too bitey and alcoholic (6.2%) and fresh tasting. Definitely a malty coffee taste. The golden ale is crisp and refreshing at 4.0%. I'm a fan of citrus in my ales and had I bought more, I'd cut a fresh lime to line a frosted glass and have this ale! I really look forward to the quarantine being over so we can visit the tasting room, as it looks like there's plenty of space, indoors and out.

Embarrassing to say the least. Sliders 18 dollars for non appetizing appeal. Fries 8 dollars for what seemed microwaved. Hopefully they will get it together before tourist season. Last year they had a good start with the best peel and eat shrimp. View is great. Beer and drinks great. You do have to order from an app. No cash transactions. Hoping to write a better review next time.

Loved the vibe on rainbow road outside the tap room. Ordered the Multnomah falls IPA and the Day Hike Pale ale and finished with a cucumber saison. Great spot in town!

I live right down the street from Gorges, so I'm sure I will be back this summer. The patio/ extended patio into the street allows for social distancing and you order everything from your phone. The beer was great and the staff was quick with the delivery of beer once I had placed my order.
