NYC’s New Restaurant Openings - New York - The Infatuation

"Are chef's counter tasting menus inside Korean steakhouses the next big thing? According to the folks at Gori (located inside the Upper East Side’s Anto), the answer is yes. For $165, you’ll get 10 courses, like hamachi mulhwe, and aged, roasted duck served over pine cones." - Will Hartman, Willa Moore

This restaurant truly exceeded my expectations in every aspect. From the moment I stepped in, the inviting atmosphere set the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. The food was absolutely delicious, bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The service was impeccable, with attentive staff who went above and beyond to ensure our satisfaction. Despite the high quality, the prices were surprisingly reasonable. I highly recommend this gem to anyone looking for a top-notch dining experience.

There is no doubt in my mind that this is a 5 star restaurant. But already being a michelin starred chef from Korea, chef Kim is not just looking for 5 star reviews but a m-star. Well, I thought the plan of the course was well thought out and each course brings out different taste than merely good ingredient foods with same sugary taste like Oxxx Mx or Jxxxsxx. However couple of things to remind the chef is that because the omakase accommodated different people according to their arrivals, it seems as too much thing is going on at once wo being orderly. Dishes being served left and right was very distracting. Other than that flow was good, duck was best but should be cut that, the tendon of the duck should not be in the cut. And personally, I am not a fan of bloody duck. One of the disappointing course was the wagyu cut. Very dry and cold. Uni sot bap was one of the best I ever had. So kudos to the chef for awesome meal and for the price, it was one of the best. Good luck to you and will put more specific review in my X - twitter!

If you visit in the evening, you'll be treated to fine dining in a private setting. It's a great place to entertain guests visiting New York. My personal favorites were the pork noodle soup, CORNISH HEN NOODLE SOUP, and UNI BAPSANG.

Every little detail contributed to a great experience. Food was so creative and delicious, staff was very friendly and attentive and the layout just tops it off. Would come back here again, perfect for intimate conversation or just appreciate carefully made food.

Great meal here! Food was unique and presented beautifully. Service was impeccable. Perfect 10 seat omakase. Hits were the Duck, Hamachi, Lobster and Wagyu. Only miss was the lettuce wrapped pork belly. They change the menu seasonally so definitely will go back (and need to try Alto as well)

If you're in the mood for a trendy Korean dinner, this is the place to go. It's a bit different from traditional Korean food, but it's fun to eat. The rice with uni and grilled duck are especially delicious. Wine and other alcoholic beverages go well with it.

Yelp
TLDR: I think the service kinks mentioned below were ironed out because we had a fantastic meal here. 10 course tasting menu for $165! Amazing food, service, ambiance, with a couple little misses but overall so good. SETTING: we had a reservation for 8:00pm on a Wednesday night. The restaurant is on top of a Korean steakhouse. If you're worried about the smell, don't, because I think this is the first Korean steakhouse I've ever been in that did not smell at all. This is a roomy 10 seat counter with three chefs cooking right in front of you. Perfect for a special occasion, date night, dinner with a friend or parent, etc. FOOD: the meal was so. Damn. Good. I loved their inventive take on Korean food. My favorite dishes were the freshwater eel served with this foam made from bonito flakes (maybe the best eel I've ever had...) and the DUCK. The duck was 10 day aged and covered with a honey glaze which made the skin so crispy, and served with a duck pate. Duck on duck! I know this is the best duck I've ever had. All the other dishes came in CLOSE, but the Dungeness crab was a tiny bit too crabby which kind of masked the flavor of the uni and salmon roe, and the hamachi was insane but the coldness of the kimchi emulsion on top kind of took away from the flavor of the fresh fish. Otherwise, NO NOTES. SERVICE: service was smooth, friendly, and excellent. They didn't pull out our big booth seats for us when we arrived and didn't take away the hand towels for a bit into the meal but those are really tiny nits. I think this place will get a Michelin star if it works out those tiny little attention to detail type things. VERDICT: we kept saying throughout the meal what an amazing experience this was and I know at least 3 people I want to bring here for the food. I will definitely be back. You should too before it becomes impossible to get a reservation!!

Yelp
The food here is amazing, but the service was unsettling. The tasting menu itself is amazing, but the service has a lot of kinks to iron out.
