The 16 Best Restaurants In North Hollywood

"There are two reasons to come to Gorilla Pies in North Hollywood: wings and pizza. The former are excellent across the board, with crisp, potato-chip-like skin, and the pizzas are solid too, especially if you like busy pizza with personality. There’s a good chance the owner will greet you from behind the counter while spreading pickled fennel, smoked sauerkraut-kimchi, char siu, or tater tots over fresh dough (the simpler options here are our favorites, though). This counter-service spot is in a strip mall—parking is abundant, and seating is limited, especially on weekends. With leather booths and a by-the-slice case, Gorilla Pies has the charm of sitcom pizza parlors where teens hang out after school." - brant cox, sylvio martins, nikko duren, garrett snyder

The 14 Best Chicken Wings In LA

"Gorilla Pies in North Hollywood is best known as a pizza shop that serves wings, but we think it should be the other way around. Their three wings flavors—smoky buffalo, lemon pepper, and dry & spicy—are excellent across the board, with crisp, potato-chip-like skin that unlocks a vault of juicy meat. The housemade ranch is a nice touch, too. The counter-service shop is in a strip mall right next door to a kosher supermarket, which means parking is abundant and seating is limited, especially on weekends." - nikko duren, garrett snyder, brant cox

Gorilla Pies - Review - North Hollywood - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"There are two reasons to come to Gorilla Pies in North Hollywood: wings and pizza. The former are excellent across the board, with crisp, potato-chip-like skin that unlocks a vault of juicy meat. The latter is also great, especially if you like busy pizza with lots of personality. There’s a good chance the owner will greet you from behind the counter while spreading pickled fennel, smoked sauerkraut-kimchi, char siu, or tater tots over fresh dough. These fun toppings are par for the course at Gorilla, but we usually prefer the simpler options with two toppings or less. This counter-service shop is in a strip mall right next door to a kosher supermarket—parking is abundant and seating is limited, especially on weekends. Get a seat if you can though: With leather booths and by-the-slice display case, Gorilla Pies has the charm of those pizza parlors in sitcoms where teens hang out after school." - Nikko Duren

23 Essential Restaurants in the Sprawling San Fernando Valley

"Heavily charred, seriously cheesy, and impossibly crispy — that’s the way the pies are done at Gorilla, the Valley Village pizzeria that’s trying to give the Valley a taste of Pittsburgh, one pizza at a time." - Virali_Dave, Jessie Evans

Google
This pizza is nothing short of phenomenal. We've only been twice (so far!) and both times it's just been 🤌. The pizza slice itself is thin with incredible flavors from the sauces & toppings. Then the crust is super thick and chewy, which is totally my style. We've had both the Abloh and the Great White Buffalo. Dipping sauce is also so good. Only thing better than all of that is the incredibly friendly & helpful owner. There was a miscommunication on our order tonight and he readily agreed not to charge me for the difference, which was so kind and very appreciated. Excellent customer service all around. We will continue to drive across the Valley for this special treat!

Google
Ok so must say the pie tasted GREAT! What I didn’t like was the 2 plus inches of crust. The crust has good taste but I would rather have an 1 inch crust and more if the yummy pizza. The dogs enjoyed some of the crust rest got trashed. If the pie is 16 inches and 4 inches is crust you now have a 12 pie. I would go back because it tasted good and there are very few pizza places that has a soft dough crust, most are hard crust dough which I like too. Please try a smaller crust I would change from 4 to 5 stars in a second. You have a great pizza just my opinion on the crust maybe because I stretched many pizza pies same type of dough.

My son really loves this pizza place, so he wanted us to try it. We all love pizza, be it thin, or thick, or deep dish. He ordered Rabbi pizza and Buffalo chicken wings. Pizza was delicious! It was a thin crust, but the outside was raised and fluffy. It's tasty and attractive with its red cabbage topping. The chicken wings were yummy, too.

Google
This place is it! Owner was super personable and easy going and the rest of the staff were very polite and attentive. Everything from the thin crust, to the chewy and perfectly charred crust, down to the tomato sauce — 100% nailed it! He also does “Pizza by the Slice” which was a really cool concept. Some of your not-so-typical-pizzas will be show cased here. The wilder and interesting they sound the better they taste. Who would have though mash potatoes on a pizza would be good— Pierogi Pizza👌🏼 The merch and ambiance is pretty rad too (We already started eating the appetizer but there was definitely more)

Google
I am so rarely in North Hollywood, so I Yelp pizza and see this place, along with links to eater la. So heart set on something exciting and unique, I walk in, tell the chef I want a simple slice for my son and I want something fun. He pulls out a Sicilian pie he calls the clamblorghini. I sort of zone out after he describes clam chowder and the potatoes, I've already decided I am feasting on this slice. $4 for a slice of traditional "pepperoni" (Soppresata on their mozzarella and provolone mix, I stole a bite from my son and I need to come back just to enjoy that mix) and $7 for the Sicilian specialty slice, I felt like it was 2019 again. The clamblorghini was incredible. How they made it so gooey but not wet confounds me. it's likely a limited time special, but just from this Sicilian slice, this place far exceeds prime pizza and triple beam. I just need to find another excuse to hit the valley so I can try the wings and anything else.

As I continue to try pizza places throughout Orange and Los Angeles Counties, I decided to go try Gorilla Pies next. I first heard about them from an article in Eater LA recently. I tried two different slices. The first slice I tried was The Basic Benny with sopressata, parmesan, marinara, and basil. No one ingredient overpowered the other, and the crust especially had really great flavor. The second slice I tried was The Rabbi (Reuben Pie) with pastrami, onion, Swiss, smoked kraut-chi, red cabbage, reuben sauce, and a caraway seed crust. I was surprised that I chose this slice because although I like a Reuben sandwich, I was not sure it would succeed in pizza form. It was delicious. The crust was cooked a little more, and that made a difference. The caraway seed crust was a winner. It is a place worth driving to if you come from an area outside of the San Fernando Valley. Ben Osher, the owner, and his staff were very friendly and really wanted you to enjoy the food and experience. Take a chance and go there for a slice. You will want more than one.

Google
My order was a pepperoni pizza and a meatball sandwich. The pizza was delicious and the meatball sandwich was top notch. Fresh baked bread and tons of flavor. I can't wait to come back and try the other pizzas.

Google
Update 09/22/23 "And Another One" Incredible they have individual pies now! 🏆 Added a New Picture Off the Chain "Argula Prosciutto" Amazing Super Dope!! I live close by they sell slices. I tried two different ones both amazing. Be mindful and respectful this a not a fast food pizza place. This is artisan super incredible pizza. It's not staffed with 10 people and giant commercial ovens. If you go at busy you might have to wait. The Pizza, crust, the flavor, the taste is awesome. Relax and enjoy!

Yelp
All I can say is every single time my wife and I went to Gorilla Pies we were impressed. The owner and staff remembered us and our menu tastes, we were treated with respect like VIPs and the pizza and salad was absolutely tremendous. Every single time. Maybe the best pizza we have ever eaten. We have called in orders the day before and the pizza was ready when we arrived. I know nothing of some of the bad reviews on this site about Gorilla Pies but from our families experience they are not consistent with the quality and service we received and I can't believe them. I have eaten pizza coast to coast for 61 years and the Gorilla Pie is amongst the best anywhere in the USA. Come back soon Ben & company. Our taste buds are reeling from your absence! ...Drew & Gisela missing our friends at Gorilla Pies...

Yelp
Hahahaha. The owner is an asshole. Glad to see this close. Owner canceled my order in the store before and then called me poor. Guess owner is poor since this is closing. Boo fucking hoo.

Yelp
Sheeeeesh! Fire pizza and their cowboy salad is soooo good. Gained aura points at this place, it's so lowkey and cozy.

Yelp
Shame they had to close.. We dined here shortly before they closed as a friend of ours are big fans of Gorilla Pies. I liked them a lot and loved their unique pies, especially the use of fermentation in their sauces and condiments.

Yelp
We cheated on our regular pizza place tonight, it's ok, they will never know. The crust at this place is 10/10 would do it again! It was just so chewy! I rarely eat all my crust from regular crust pizza, but Gorilla likes knows what they are doing for the base. I liked the toppings... but didn't love them and it could be the sauce. The Pickles, overall good bit, the cheeses were delicious, not pickle-ly as anticipated. Heavy on basil Meat Lovers- meaty, good coverage of pepperoni, barely any bacon discernible Abloh- good, heavy on basil. I'll be back to try the Rabbi. Is it naughty to wish my current pizza place and this place got together and had a baby?? Meat Lovers- solid ok

Yelp
Damn good pie. We went for a casual midweek lunch because PIZZA, duh. The reviews and pictures were promising and the name intriguing. It should actually be called Guerilla Pizza because the location/venue is unassuming without a lot of fanfare but boom! the food comes and hits you over the head and your taste buds take on a massive attack. First the pie is crisp and chewy, with a perfect balance of flavors and textures. Delish! We also had the bufffalo wings which were crispy and just the right amount of kick. We also had the Caesar salad but couldn't enjoy it because we were stuffed. Chef and owner Ben walked around the tables checking in, introducing himself and ensuring everyone was happy, which we were. Cute, clean space; fun staff; legit food. Check out their combo meals. We had the "Date Night" which is how we were able to try all of the above.
google avatar

Brittany V.

Yelp
Pretty solid pizza, even better better wings. Very excited to have a spot like this in the valley. Super small space with a lot of charm. It's somewhat of a cross between table service and order at the counter so you have to prepare to be pretty persistent with asking for things, but friendly staff. A bit pricey, but good food.

Yelp
My partner and I are SUPER sad to see this place go. We've had a five-star experience with food, service and ambiance each time. We've been here a handful of times and we LOVE to eat our pizza gorilla-style. We did the date night combo once that I think included a pizza, salad and dessert. Everything is delish!

Yelp
It's a YES. Absolutely yes. Get your order in now! I've been wanting to try Gorilla Pies for a while now, and when it first opened the wait times for pick up were pretty gnarly so I decided to hold off. I recently ordered for pick up on a weeknight and was told our order would be ready in 20 mins! The shop is located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. You can't miss the sign out front so it's easy to find! We ordered The Basic Benny and The Green Monster. I don't even know which one I liked more because they were both so amazing. Honestly all of their pies sounded so unique and looked delicious it was hard to pick. But it all comes down to the crust. The crust under the cheese and sauce is thin, but holds up when you pick it up. I think it's even better if you fold it in half and eat it pizza/taco style. The crust at the end, is puffy and bready, but has a nice crisp to the edges. You get the best of both worlds (thick and thin crust fans). I don't discriminate when it comes to pizza crust (hello, it's bread and bread is delicious), but Gorilla Pies has got it down to an art! The Basic Benny blew me away. We added the spicy sauce to it and it was perfection. I love the fresh basil and the salty sopressata. The spicy level was on point. It hits your mouth and gives you a little zing, but doesn't leave your mouth on fire. The Green Monster was delicious. The pesto, the mushrooms...*chefs kiss*. It's a veg pizza, but it tastes so rich and is full of umami. I actually thought there was meat on it until I looked at the ingredients! Never underestimate a shiitake mushroom. The next time I am looking to order some Za for a party (or heck, even a night on the couch), I will definitely be calling Gorilla Pies. This is pizza that will surely impress!

Yelp
Gorilla Pies is my go-to neighborhood Pizzeria. Since they opened in Valley Village, they have found me as a repeat, loyal customer. They tend to get really busy so I order ahead for pick-up. There are times when I pick-up my order, Chef Ben Osher is taking the calls and ringing up customers. He's very personable and even when he's busy making pies, he still says hello and greets each person when they come in and when they leave. Every chance I get, I recommend Gorilla Pies to anyone asking where is a good pizza spot here in the valley. Oh, definitely recommend to get your pizza "gorilla style", you'll thank me later.

Yelp
First off, WOW. One of the better pizzas I've had in LA. Super flavourful, exactly what your looking for when craving pizza. The service is great as well. So happy this is 3 minutes from my house lol!
google avatar

Christine L.

Yelp
All the pizzas I've had here through the years have been been imaginative and amazing. Fun pairings of toppings. Had the Big Papa recently and that was one cool potato pizza. The interior is fun, bright, and amusing. It's a really great addition to the neighborhood.
google avatar

Yelp
Had to try this place out after seeing all of the high reviews. I've been on a hunt for mind blowing wings in the area and thought I'd give this place a shot. Although $16 for 6 wings is absolutely unacceptable, I was hopeful that they'd be the best wings I've had in my life. Unfortunately they weren't. I wasn't a huge fan of the ranch either although I appreciate the portion size. Thankfully I decided to try a slice of their pepperoni and that was amazing. The customer service was pretty average. It was very small inside and looked like a typical take out pizza joint. I'd return for the pizza alone but the price of wings should definitely be reconsidered.

Yelp
We came here on a quiet Sunday night because of the high recommendation of Marc S. It was a bit of a drive from Glendale, but worth it. We ate in and the owner, Ben, came to our table, explained some of the pizza flavors and took our order. He was very nice and we talked about the fun image of him in the logo. This was my first time eating Pittsburg-style pizza and it was great. We got the Basic Benny with the Gorilla style finish and the Smoky Buffalo wings. Everything was great and the crust was the best. It was very thin in the center with a thick, blistered edge. Kind of the best of both worlds. last night I reheated the last four slices in a pan on the stove and they were great. Highly recommended, even if you have to drive a little bit extra. PS They also sell slices.

Yelp
I won't be back. 1. Bad ju ju in here between the owner and his staff. You could cut the tension with a pizza paddle. 2. Horrendous parking. Like a warzone, unpaved, pot holes, bare dirt everywhere, people honking. 3. They don't make change for cash payment. You have to have the Exact amount to pay for your order. Staff: I saw and heard the way the owner treated you all; and how embarrassing and belittling he made you all feel. Gloria Allred, hello? There was one girl working there who tried to stand up for herself, but then got shot down in the most passive aggressive way possible by the owner on the spot. WTF?! You don't treat your employees like that, and call them out, especially in front of your customers. Pizza: take it or leave it. I'm leaving it. Really hit or miss depending on what is available. For instance, They make a "Thick Crust," in the morning, then have to reset the oven to higher temperatures for the rest of the day for the classic and signature pizza. And the guy/owner didn't want to switch the temperature back. So if you want a thicker crust, you have to come before 12:00 noon? What kind of b******* is that? Either offer it all day and night, or don't. And don't dare call it "Deep Dish," because it's not. The dough: Flavorless. I'm sorry, it's very "rapid rise" o.g. Fleischmann's yeasty, and it doesn't have any taste. There's not enough salt, and you can totally tell that there's some kind of artificial additives to make the dough more stretchy. It was rubbery, almost too chewy to be real. I'm not saying this is some pre-made dough mix that you buy at a restaurant supply store, but if it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, it's probably a chicken? Toppings: Not Enough Meats. All I got was a bag of dough, with crushed tomatoes on top. For being a "Classic Pizza," you would expect to see the proteins/meats evenly distributed. And yet the meats were few and far between. Parking: it literally is like a war zone in the parking lot. There's bare dirt all over, with patches of broken asphalt. Potholes, ruts, and barely enough room to fit one car down a long one way stretch. Atmosphere: Tense. The way the owner treats his staff is enough for me never to come back here again. It's a small place, you don't feel comfortable at all, like the walls are just closing in on you. Very claustrophobic. Summary, this is a lawsuit waiting to happen. The owner is a disrespectful, passive aggressive A-hole, who really needs to learn how to treat his staff better. To those reading this, the high prices you're paying do not justify the garbage food you're getting in return. And having to get to the front door even for pickup is a battle, literally. I won't be back.

Yelp
My gf & I heard all the great reviews from this place so we had to go big for the superbowl! I was excited to try the pizza and the gorilla wings and I was not let down. We got the Basic Benny Pie and the dough was incredible! It was a little thin in the middle then thick around the edges but the dough was definitely the star of the pie. The strawberry lemonade was incredible, best I've ever had. And the wings we ordered were pretty good. We ordered the sweet sixteen which was 4 of every flavor they offered. I liked the amount of meat on each wing but there were definitely some that were smaller than others. The drumsticks were a lot bigger than the flats. My only complaint about the wings were that we couldn't tell the difference between the 3 dry rubs and wish they had more flavor options. The chili agave was one of the best wing flavors I've tried though!!! The service was really good considering how busy they were on Sunday. They added us in when I called an hour ahead and I was pleased with how fast they got everything done. The indoor seating seemed closed that day but seemed cute which is fine because of how busy they probably were in the kitchen for pick-ups. I would definitely come back and focus on getting a more unique pizza flavor!

Yelp
Amazing pizza. Ordered here on a Saturday night for takeout. Pizza was ready in about 20 minutes. In strip mall, pretty basic interior and unassuming, but a hidden gem. Staff was friendly. Got the basic Benny which was delicious with the soppressata super salty and crispy meat. Loved it and the marinara sauce was chefs kiss. The angry gorilla sauce was a must get as well basically a spicy marinara on the pizza. Thin crust but the top of the crust was thick and made a delicious bread stick. 16 inches was big and perfect for two hungry people.
google avatar

Christine S.

Yelp
Ordered the 16" Basic Benny which consists of soppressata, marinara, and basil with angry sauce. It was so delicious! Thin crust but crispy, the soppressata with the angry sauce was salty and spicy, didn't need any additional toppings, and the pizza was perfect for two people. Will definitely be ordering from here again to try more of their pizzas!

Yelp
Great pizza to have here in the valley. Disappointed it has had to close. Unlike chain pizza business, gorilla pies mass quality pizza with fresh ingredients.

Yelp
Supper friendly and helpful. They seem passionate about finding you something you will love. Excellent food.

Yelp
Love this place ( when they are open- can be unpredictable). Green Monster & Basic Benny are our favorites! Arugula Salad is bountiful and delish! We've always taken out but would like to eat there sometime.

Yelp
Excellent Service and DELICIOUS food. Thank you Chef Ben. We were so hungry and the food looked so appetizing we forgot to take pictures of all of the food.. We WIL be back for another Date Night.

Yelp
TL;DR: Highly recommend for the pizza and mozzarella sticks! And if you like sweets, order the S'Mookie if you can (it isn't listed on their website). Starting with the end - the S'Mookie - maybe it's from my days as a Girl Scout, but I love anything s'mores-related. The s'mookie is like two big flat chocolate chip cookies with globs of melted marshmallow in/on it. It's a beautiful mess. I could do without the salt on top though - I truly despise the trend of putting salt on baked goods like they were not already perfect to begin with. But that's my cross to bear... Even still - get the s'mookie. This place is really known for the pizzas and boy do they deliver on that. I got the Kitten signature pie, which is pretty plain and basic how I like it, but with really high-quality ingredients like it's supposed to be - great fresh marinara, fresh mozzarella, and basil - some basil leaves baked into the pie and some fresh basil leaves on top - just perfect all-around. Also ordered their classic pepperoni pie, the pepperoni being great soppressata, and I had them add spicy sausage to it. Their sausage is the best sausage for a pizza I've ever had. It was crumbled into pretty small crumbles that were all cooked through, slightly crisp, just perfect. A lot of pizzas end up with big hunks of sausage that fall off the pizza and seem like boiled hunks of sausage. Not Gorilla Pies! Their sausage is so so so good, the way it should be. Next time I might just order a pizza with just one topping, the spicy sausage, so I can really luxuriate in how awesome it is. I cannot overstate enough how much I usually hate sausage pizzas and how much I absolutely adore theirs. If I could award them an Oscar for their sausage I would. I was concerned about the sausage only being offered as "spicy sausage" because I can't handle spicy stuff the way I used to, but their sausage had just the right hint of chili, it really was so well done. Bravo. The mozzarella sticks were also surprisingly good. I've found a lot of places make them soggy or they overcook them and some of the cheese comes out so you end up with partially empty sticks. In stark contrast, Gorilla Pies has figured these out - all the cheese is there and it's melty and cooked all the way through, and the batter/crust around the cheese is sturdy, crisp, and deliciously flavorful. As a bonus you get their fresh marinara to dip them in. This is what mozzarella sticks are supposed to be! A couple things were fine, but didn't "wow" me the way the pizza and mozzarella sticks did. The wings were well-made/cooked, and the smoky buffalo sauce was fine though not what I'm used to for hot wings. I might just need to try a different sauce. The wings themselves were really good. I also got an order of their Monkey Bars which are cheesy garlic breadsticks that come with marinara to dip them in, and I thought these were lacking personally - they didn't seem cheesy (unless that referred to the parmesan dusted all over them - I prefer melty cheese) and I didn't taste any garlic. I don't order breadsticks like this from most pizza spots because they always seem to be a little dry and lacking somehow - maybe this is just not for me. But if you like these kind of breadsticks, you may like them! Note that their site directs you to order through ChowNow which is my least favorite ordering service - ChowNow will send you an email confirming your order, but that doesn't mean it's going to happen the way you want. You have to wait for a second email confirming your pickup time, which can take - literally - hours. I learned this the hard way years ago. It's annoying and cumbersome, but now whenever I learn something goes through ChowNow, I just pay a lot closer attention to my order and the communications around it. Bottom line is I will definitely be ordering pizzas and mozzarella sticks from here again! I want to try more of their signature pies, and of course get a sausage pie to delight in how great their sausage is!

Yelp
Food was decent most of the time, the owner was a piece of work and treated is staff like crap in front of customers...

Yelp
First off, I did not order an entire pizza. I found this place via the 'Too Good to Go' app. For $4 + tax I got 3 slices of pepperoni pizza. Which were absolutely amazing. I loved the dough, it was very nicely chewy with a great texture. The sauce:cheese:topping ratio was very nice. And the char on the crust was very satisfying. The employees were very accommodating, after finding out I 'reserved' through the app, they started to prep my leftovers to make sure they were nice and hot for my consumption. Kindly reminding me to make sure to swipe and confirm my order was picked up. I only needed to wait a few minutes, and while doing so I got to take in the ambiance. It was very comforting in the sense that this was a no-nonsense pizzeria. I very much look forward to coming back and ordering something new from the menu.

Yelp
Best pizza around. I understand they started out in a hotel kitchen and now have their own stand alone restaurants. Tremendous ingredients and I met the owner and he is a tremendous guy. Worth the trip here for the best pizza.

Chloe S.

Yelp
Words cant describe how incredible this place is. l seriously cannot recommend this place enough. My boyfriend and I were in the area for a work meeting and before heading back on 2+ car ride home, decided we would find some food in the area. It happened to be the closest place to us and dropped by only to be amazed. The owner was there and so kind and welcoming. It's not usual for me to finish more than two slices of pizza, let alone and entire one to myself. The restaurant is small and cozy filled with sports memorabilia. The two hour drive from my house is worth it and I can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Hmmmmm, I have had this place on my calendar for months and finally took the drive to try it out. Got the Kitty-Nice taste cheese was good very flavorful Got the Sopresata-Also very nice taste in the middle Buuuuut-A little too much dough and not enough in the middle if that makes any sense The Crust is tasty but I missed the dipping sauces option should have got some because there was a lot of dough Also got lemon seasoned wings, very original and very tasty, nice and meaty and the dipping ranch sauce was very good When in the area I will give it another shot for sure as I saw some menu items I would like to try

Yelp
I come here occasionally, its local for me, and they make some good food. I've had their pizzas and wings, and recently their sandwiches. Their pizzas are "Pittsburgh" style, but strike me as Neapolitan-ish. The dough is very flavorful with good ingredients. Its not crispy or firm, so if you are like me that prefers NY, New Haven, or Chicago Thin Crust, it might not be your thing. They do make interesting toppings and their own creations. These are tasty and are better suited to knife and fork than by hand. I'm likely to try more of their pies, especially the more "exotic" creations. Their wings are really nice, and have good seasoning. Good size, and can select dipping sauces. Their ranch is excellent, and maybe the best Ive had. Their sandwiches use their pizza dough, but its thicker for use as a sandwich. They have a variety of ones with combo(salad or chips, and soda ) for 3 dollars. I would take advantage of that. I ordered the "Greenpoint" which is the owner's creation. Its a smoked turkey, with arrugula, brie, apples, and a spicy dijonaise. This was an excellent sandwich with all the flavors and textures complementing each other. Id dare say their sandwiches are better than the pizza for me, and the dough works better for it for my tastes. The caesar salad that came with it was great as well, It was not an afterthought. The interior is simple with Pittsburgh memorabila and photos scattered. Its clean, and they have 2 outside tables as well. Parking is generally decent and better on Friday afternoon/Saturday since the Kosher supermarket is closed then. I think this place is one of the better pizza places in the valley, and if you arent expecting NY-New Haven style you should be fine.

Yelp

Yelp
I liked The Green Monster so much I ordered it again the following weekend and wow. What happened? It was inedible. Super disappointing. It felt...soggy? The whole pie was eerily wet. And the crust was all burnt. I tried toasting it and it couldn't be saved. Sad. Did they hire a new cook? Yikes. I also tried the garlic knots and these were also a miss. Flavor-wise tasty (i mean, garlic) but I tried ripping one apart and a ton of grease just oozed between my fingers. Not the most appetizing. Definitely not as good as a lot of reviewers proclaimed. The dough was also really stiff and felt stale. The star of the heart-attack of an order was the s'more cookie. Kinda hard to mess that up but whatever cookie recipe they're working with it saving their otherwise inconsistent pies and rolls. Not sure if I'll be ordering again after this. $30 on a pizza I had to throw away? Nah. Note: the photo attached to this was my first pizza and leaps and bounds better than whatever I got the second time around.

Yelp
This place is legit. They make a good pie here - I tried the Basic Benny which has soppresatta and basil, it was definitely on point with plenty of flavor and a bit of kick from the soppresatta. The crust was almost like thin ciabatta with a nice bitter edge. The Angry Sauce I ordered on the side was great to dip leftover crust or even to pour on the slice itself - it definitely added spice (heat it up when you get home though). My fingers were black from the char on the crust after a few slices, I loved that. Definitely a bit of a unique flavor and style in this neighborhood. Recommended without hesitation, despite the stiff competition for good pizza in the area.

Yelp
Arguably the top pizza spot in Valley Village flavor wise. Adding innovative twists on cult classics from the pizza community, chef Ben Osher & crew are creating a fusion of the LA "bougie scene" and the classic east coast blue-collar mentality. You already know if there isn't east coast flare and a subtle edge of attitude, the pizza may not hit as we're accustomed to back east. Here they balance all the vibes and create an experience that can't be duplicated with pizza that will leave you in a pleasant food coma. Pull up now, thank me later. stay eatin!

Yelp
Took me 2 years to find this place, which is next door to where I live and was blown away by the quality. Not going anywhere else.. The style of pizza is comparable to Pitfire (after they updated their menu) and Midici, but the crust is better in my opinion.

Yelp
Where do I start here? The first thing I noticed here was how well Ben was running his kitchen. He was not only absolutely brilliant with his service, but an amazing leader in the kitchen. Alright, let's get to the food here. Dude.. that Big Kahuna was NO JOKE!! The bread on that pizza was crazy delicious and the toppings were fresh and delicious! The wings were honestly life changing too. Like damn, Ben really knows what's up when it comes to the wings. The seasonings and flavors were fatly and dankly!! Big love to Ben! Man truly knows how to do it up

Yelp
This may be my favorite pizza ever. We have some really good pizzerias in the Valley, but these pizzas consistently knock me out. Very thin pizza, superb flavors, and dynomite crust. Every bite is a JOY for me. I highly highly highly recommend.

Yelp
I ordered it for pick up and it was absolutely delicious. The wings were the best dry rub wings I have ever had! I can't wait to go again! Highly recommend :)

Yelp
This place is top notch for pizzas. I had tried it once before at a friends house and loved it but this time I had ordered from home. The delivery time they gave was on time and the pizza was so delicious. I ordered the Sierra Bonita which is pickled fennel, caramelized onion, arugula, basil, nasturtium, marinara, and mozzarella-provolone blend Thin crust totally a perfect pie for this Italian girl can't wait to order again

Yelp
I swear I have tried so many pizza spots in the Los Angeles area and have been super disappointed one after another. I randomly met some friends at Gorilla Pies and so glad I did! Their Green Monster pie is sooooooo good, I actually crave it. The service is so awesome. Businesses please take note, the customer service alone is worth going back for. Just wish they were closer.

Yelp
LOVE! Chef Ben Osher knows what he's doing. EVERYTHING is made using fresh, high-quality ingredients. We ordered The Basic Benny with Sopressata, Mozzarella, Parmesan, Marinara, Basil. Made with Bianco di Napoli tomatoes, the sauce is tangy with just enough heat to wake up your taste buds. And the toppings were perfectly balanced. We had ordered to go but Chef suggested we have just one slice hot out of the oven to enjoy his pizza perfection (my words - not his). We stayed and ate the whole pie. DELICIOUS! He brought us over some ranch to taste and it was so fresh and flavorful I could've eaten it with a spoon but instead dipped the chewy crust and savored the flavors. He suggested next time we come (and there will be MANY next times!) we bring our own wine; he'll provide the stemless glasses and we can enjoy a fine dining experience in his humble and fun dining room. We can't WAIT!

Yelp
Ok sound the alarm we have a winner in Gorilla Pies! I've been anticipating going to Gorilla Pies for a few weeks now and finally had the chance to try it out last week. My daughter is Big into wings and after the first bite said "this is IT!" Yes and like just about everything else we ate we raved with every bite. The pizza, dough, toppings spectacular. The wings freaking amazing ! All the sauces and the Gorilla wheels with pesto absolutely tasty. So my wife also was raving and said I need to research this place a bit more and sure enough this ain't your regular pizza parlor this is gourmet pizza carefully crafted by none other than Chef Benjamin Osher who has worked in Michellin kitchens through out the states and literally blessed Valley Glen with this gem. Stop by and make it's a regular go to!

Yelp
Food and service is good, nice ambient. Sucks that they don't have a restroom for dine in customers, neither does some subways. Sucks because I have a 4-year old.

Notrombones ..

Yelp
I had some at a party (they were cold by the time I got to them) and was absolutely amazed. So I ordered a couple delivered to my home and was even more impressed. This cold be the best pizza in LA. Seriously. I kid you not. I grew up in NY state and always enjoyed the best NY pizza when I visited the big city. My standard is pretty high. The crust of Gorilla Pies is as good as it gets. Bam! The winner. Game over. The very good sauce isn't sweet like some of those corporate places. Available toppings are impressive, even including Nasturtium This is supposed to be "Pittsburgh style" pizza, but it is similar to primo-quality NY pie. Super-stretchy crust, with a relatively uniform bubble all around the perimeter, instead of random bubbles like NY style. That is the major difference, IMO. Crust is crispy and super-chewy like the best bakery bread. The owner, Chef Ben Osher, must be some kind of genius. IMO, he has beaten everybody. For NY-style pizza lovers, His pizza reaches the OMG level. Best pizza I have ever had in LA, since I moved here in 1978. And I've had a few.

Yelp
After trying some different pizza places, we found out this one, let me tell you that the most important thing for us is of course the food, but also the way they treat our kids is fundamentally important, so far the customer service is great, everyone is happy there, so you won't receive any bad attitude, always they are smiling, and willing to help you. The place is small and sometimes they don't have enough room to sit all the customers, but if you call them in advance you can reserve a table, the strawberry lemonade is homemade and delicious, my kids loved it, a little pricey but is worth it, the decoration is very classic and warming, I definitely recommend this place, go give it a try you won't be disappointed.
