Took an introductory class with Martin and he was amazing! He was super engaging and was great at explaining everything. He gave us fun games to play and I would definitely make it back whenever I’m in NY again!

Google
I had the honor to take an introductory class with Martin, and what a pleasure it was. His jovial but professional attitude, enlightening tips, and kind demeanor made the class such a joy. I'm not sure what I was expecting out of the class, but I got so much more than I though possible. Who knew that archery would seamlessly join my list of hobbies, and rise high just because of this one class. Thank you so much for the experience!

Dina Lyon

Google
We live nearby and never knew about this very cool spot. Went with my husband on a date and had a great time doing the intro lesson with Robbie. There’s no bar as you are holding an actual weapon and the training is serious and a bit intense but you do feel like Katniss Everdeen at the end! Once you do the intro you can come back and rent a lane for a reasonable $18/hr which I’d love to do. Seems fun for an event too - there’s no food or drinks for sale inside.

Quinn Rose

Google
Excellent! Would highly recommend. Took the intro class for my friends birthday, Robi managed a class of twelve newbies beautifully, given he was about to hand us all lethal weapons. A good mix of entertaining/engaging while stressing safety protocol. Had a great time, loads of fun!

Google
My partner and I recently took an intro class at Gotham Archery, and we were blown away. Even though we’ve trained at other ranges before, we found out that Gotham Archery's intro class was mandatory—and honestly, we’re glad it was! Huge props to Martin and Jackie who led our session. They clearly know their stuff and made the class warm, fun, and exciting, even for novice archers like us. Having gone through similar safety and intro training at other ranges, we can confidently say this was hands down the friendliest, tightest, and most entertaining introduction to archery we’ve ever experienced. Gotham has struck a perfect balance between catering to archery enthusiasts and making the experience unintimidating and joyful for complete beginners. I think my partner and I were discussing that they covered more fundamentals in one hour than some other places do in four hours. It’s clear Gotham is doing something right. The vibes around the range were joyful, and even on a school night the range was packed (but not crowded!) with activity. Beyond Martin and Jackie, we met Kelsey after our shoot, and the same great vibes were unmistakable. The entire team made us feel welcome and inspired to keep coming back. We loved our experience so much we even extended our time by an hour to shoot at the lanes! As new residents in the neighborhood, we were looking for a range to call home—and we’ve found it. Gotham Archery, we’ll see you again soon!

Google
5 stars to our class instructor, Martin. He knows what he's doing, is thorough and humorous at the same time, and make sure to share extra safety tips. He made the 1 hour quite fun and entertaining. Will be coming back in the future.

Samantha “Sam” Santiago-Gionet

Google
Attended an introductory archery class with Martin as the instructor. I could not speak any more highly of how this class was structured and taught! Martin explained everything so clearly and made it engaging with different exercises. Will be back again and recommend this to everyone!

Cesar Munoz

Google
I was lucky enough to be the only attendee at a beginner class and was fortunate to have Martin as my instructor , so I essentially received a private lesson. He gave excellent instruction, specific adjustments with great context and knowledge. He was also generally a positive and warm personality who hyped me up with some Lord of the Rings soundtrack to my shooting . Excellent experience !

Yelp
It was my first time doing archery and this class was so much fun! Russell was a great instructor, he was funny and informative. I'll definitely be back

Yelp
Did a surprise date here for an introductory class and it was one of the most fun things I've done this year! You'd think an hour wouldn't be enough to get some shooting done, but our instructor, Russell, was stellar. He hit home all of the important safety bits with lots of well timed humor, a great playlist, and great tips! We all left better archers than when we arrived! It was also nice to see how much the employees enjoyed being around each other. We had a few drop ins and everyone was so helpful and funny, it was a really fun evening. The rental prices for the lanes and the equipment are super reasonable as well and Russell informed us that they are a pro shop, so don't buy anything off of Amazon. Great place for a first timer, someone dusting off the old quiver, or professional archers with great facilities and a wonderful staff.

Yelp
Clean. Employees are kind. Extremely fun activity. Took my boyfriend here and he now wants to pick it up as a hobby.

Yelp
I had an incredible experience! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and everyone was exceptionally kind. Jackie was an outstanding instructor. I can't wait to return!

Yelp
Really fun date night activity. The intro class is 1 hour long and is organized very well. They take safety very seriously without compromising on the fun parts of archery. Special shout-out to our entertaining and energy-filled instructor Wave (she also started playing Telugu music on her playlist which was a neat surprise - IYKYK).

Yelp
Took my dad here for father's day. We did an intro class and had such a good time! A tucked away, hidden gem with friendly and informative staff who really know how to engage people.

Will B.

Yelp
I went here for the beginner class with my father in law. It was so much fun, Robi was our instructor and he was very informative and fun. Couldn't recommend more for anyone interested!

Jia-Lian L.

Yelp
This was my first time trying archery and I took the class with my friend. I was really nervous and I messed up a bunch of times. The instructor was very patient and kept instructing and helping me along the way. In the best I was the most improved and I won the last challenge! I was ready to quit but thanks to his and the others motivation, I am now excited to try archery again.
google avatar

Tim L.

Yelp
Chelsea, Kelsey, Romie, Curt and staff provide a clean, well lit, safe place for indoor archery which draws archers from every discipline. Trad, Olympic, Compound, Asian thumb-draw and even a Japanese traditional Yumi archer all present. Hunters and novice archers all welcome. Wheelchair access no problemo and this venue hosts disabled Vets regularly. In your own headspace or sharing archery adventures behind the shooting line all happen here. Dont understand something? Just ask. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Came for the intro class. Really had such a great time. There were only three of us total in the intro class with Devin. He was such an amazing teacher with also the technical aspects but also personable character that made the experience one to recommend. I felt like I really learned a lot about archery and even won one of the games we played to prove it. They prepare you well and you can opt for two different type of bows, which was also a plus. Would absolutely come back for a more advanced class or even recommend for a corporate/office event. I also want to point out once again that I won one of the games!

Yelp
Took my BF here as a surprise Birthday Date and it was soooo much fun! The staff is super friendly and MARTIN was phenomenal!!!!! He made learning sooo fun. I highly recommend adding this to your list and request Martin if you can he gave so many helpful tips and was creative. Thank You for making this experience so fun.

Yelp
Took an intro class on Valentine's day and had a great time! Our instructor was Ace and he gave us the perfect amount of instruction - enough to keep us safe and set up for success with plenty of time for us to fine tune our technique. It was fun to see how minor changes in grip, posture, and release affected the flight of the arrows and that "thwip!" when it hits the target is incredibly satisfying. I would highly recommend Ace and Gotham Archery for your next outing!

Yelp
I was looking for a fun date activity while out on the town in Brooklyn this past weekend and Gotham Archery immediately came back to mind. Our instructor was Ryan, who was super funny, witty and very detail oriented. His instructions were clear, concise and easy to follow. I didn't quite catch the name of the gentleman who was assisting the class, but he was equally amazing and quite friendly. My girlfriend and I had such a blast learning the basic techniques of both the recurve bow and the compound bow. We had so much fun that we both are feeling inspired to learn more and keep practicing.
google avatar

Sandy D.

Yelp
Unfortunately, I didn't do enough arm workouts prior to class in preparation for holding the bow. But the class was so fun! As a new archer, the 1 hour intro class was $40. You can sign the online wavier before coming in. The entrance door can be hard to find, as we almost missed it. The place is split into a free range area on the right for the regulars and the more experienced, and then the intro class area on the left. There are also lockers available to rent. Our instructor was so chill, throwing in jokes here and there. There are also assistant trainers walking around to help us throughout the class. Everyone was really patient with us and super encouraging! The class had around 12 people. We started off sitting down and learning about setting up the arrow, the bow, and how to position ourselves. Then, we got right to practicing with 4 arrows each session. You go through several rounds of hitting the bullseye. The faster your group finishes each round, the more rounds you would have. At the end, there was a speed accuracy game where the first person to pop 4 balloons the fastest wins a water bottle. The dramatic battle music made the game more fun, but of course got me pressured! I learned I was no hidden Hawkeye, or hunter in my past life, but with such a fun experience that was over before I knew it, I would totally do archery at Gotham again!
google avatar

Jessica C.

Yelp
Recently Completed the intro to archery class last weekend and have to say I had such a great time! I have never done archery before so I wasn't feeling so confident. Luckily our instructor Ryan was so thorough with the instructions and funny at the same time. There was also another staff member helping us one on one who was super helpful! I had no idea I would end up liking it so much that I know I will definitely be returning back.
google avatar

Bret I.

Yelp
Maybe Hawkeye is the best Avenger....? I took my nephew to the Manhattan location, and we had an incredibly fun experience. The instructors have their personable spiel down to a science, and are so clear and direct that you feel safe in their hands--even though you're technically holding a weapon. They have an almost mystical ability to correct your form as you prepare to shoot and help you to yield bullseyes. Better still, between rounds, they share those form corrections with the whole group so everyone benefits. It's a great activity for friends and family that I highly recommend. A big shout out to Nas (the one that hits bullseyes like the other one spits bars).
google avatar

A'Yanna E.

Yelp
What a fun date! The staff here are super nice, helpful, and serious about archery. This was my first time but I definitely felt successful. I was stoked as I LOVE the Hunger Games trilogy and honestly felt like Katness. Go solo, go for a date, go with family/friends. It's a fun activity either way. I see they've now opened one in Manhattan... Go, enjoyyyy!
google avatar

Maggie B.

Yelp
I booked the introductory class for my partner's birthday and we had a blast. The class is an hour. You have to sign a waiver in advance and they are very adamant about starting on time. They provide a thorough safety and instructional demonstration for about ten minutes and then you spend the balance of the time practicing. You can choose between two different bow types to use during the class, but you can't switch to the other one after you've made your choice. You will get about four or five rounds of practice which is sufficient to get a hang of the basics. They also suggest fun challenges with prizes like shooting for a letter on the target instead of the bull's eye and shooting at balloons. They take safety very seriously, which is great. An assistant instructor was on hand to provide personalized tips and corrections. Great activity for dates or groups. I'm looking forward to taking the intermediate class next!

Yelp
We decided to celebrate my wife's birthday with a 1h intro class at Gotham Archery. It was a complete success! We were mostly clueless about Archery and Dove, the instructor, made it a very fun and enjoyable experience, guiding us through the basics of how to shoot (and stay safe while doing so), adjusting the bows as needed, and providing advice about learning proper form. Being an intro class it was reasonable easy (the lanes were short, compared to the lanes for more experienced shooters) but towards the end Dove added some interesting challenges (e.g., hitting specific points in the target, other than the center). For the class we had a choice of traditional and compound bows (my son, who had already been to an intro class with a traditional bow and wasn't as clueless, he chose a compound one this time)
google avatar

Joey S.

Yelp
What a awesome place. I got there late and they were completely understanding and set me up with a later class. Kelsey,I believe that was his name, was fantastic and very patient. He was very knowledgeable and also a cool guy. The gentleman at the shooting line and behind the counter was very nice also. I will definitely be back to hone my shooting skills!
google avatar

Ashleigh A.

Yelp
We loved Gotham Archery! It was a last minute date night idea and we had such a great time! We had such a great instructor and the time flew by we were having so much fun! 10/10 recommend! Wish the intro class was longer than an hour!
google avatar

Shamario P.

Yelp
If your thinking about it, just go. It's fun and different. The instructor, Jim, also made the instructional class fun as well as informative. My first time with archery and my aim was pretty decent at 5 yards. Will definitely come back again.

Dmitry K.

Yelp
They don't follow USA Archery guidelines and don't seem to care or know what they are. If you want a kids bday party or something like that then it probably doesnt matter, if you want to actually learn archery I would go elsewhere (like Queens Archery or places that aren't just trying to take hipsters' dollars.
google avatar

James M.

Yelp
Went to Allen street location today. Fun place. Took off one star cause of the requirement to take the intro course. I had already taken this a few years ago so I was good but it's essentially a $45 fee for first time visitors. $45 is a lot to pay for one archery session shooting 5 yards. Everyone I interacted with was very helpful and nice, and overall it's a great spot. Wish it was a little cheaper for first time visits so I could bring friends. But I will probably go back at some point when I don't feel like trekking out to Proline. Note: there is no shop at the Manhattan location.
google avatar

Allen L.

Yelp
Been here several times for classes and each visit has been great. This is a way bigger and nicer facility than the one in Manhattan. You need to do the introduction class before doing any lane rentals or the intermediate courses. The classes, in my experience, have generally been on the smaller side with 3-5 attendees. The instructors will coach and adjust you on your form and how you shoot, during the class. I've become a better archer thanks to Gotham Archery. I want to sign up for their archery league, so I'll be looking forward to that.

Robert J.

Yelp
Fun! A great crew! No need to think you will feel out of place. everyone is welcomed. intro class is great fun -Do it in a group if you can. highly recommend

Darween E.

Yelp
My first time doing archery and I had a great time! My best friend brought me here and I loved the experience. The staff was awesome, I learned some new cool tricks, and I'm no pro, but I hit the bullseye! I would definitely come back and brush up my skills. This could be a great date night, fun with friends, or even team building with co-workers.

Dani C.

Yelp
Always the kindest people who gives great advice, are very timely, and very motivating. This has been a new hobby for my friends and I and I genuinely always have such a good time when I come.

Jeffrey C.

Yelp
This is a good place for both beginners and experienced archers. The staff is attentive, helpful, and polite. They will give you pointers but not be condescending or pushy. A great deal of focus is on safety.
google avatar

Zoe F.

Yelp
Been wanting to get back into archery for a while and I'm so glad I did! My intro class was taught by Ace and he was helpful, professional, and fun! Will definitely be going back soon.

Collin A.

Yelp
I went here with a group of 5 for their hour long archery training. It was an absolute blast and we all had a great time. I'd love to come back and use their lanes sometime.
google avatar

Tony Y.

Yelp
I live only 8 minutes (walking) to the Manhattan location so convincing me to go into Brooklyn isn't easy. That said, I've now been twice. The first time was for an intermediate compound bow class. It was so fun and informative. The second time was today and it was to purchase my own compound bow. Lucky for me, I got my instructor for my bow fitting. Benalene is an amazing instructor. She's informative and friendly. She alone would be reason enough to into Brooklyn. That said the Brooklyn location is naturally much bigger. It can get a bit claustrophobic in the Manhatten location, unfortunately. I'm very happy with my Gotham Archery experience and highly recommend taking a class with Benalene.
google avatar

Stanley C.

Yelp
Big fan of the space and the staff. Archery feels very therapeutic and meditative to me. Love hearing that THWOOP sound when the arrow hits. This place is good for groups and for parties. Came here after a long time for the intro class and it was just as fun. You play a little game at the end. Will def be back to rent a lane and hunt some wabbits. Teeheehee. Cheers Doc
google avatar

Jonah S.

Yelp
Super fun! We did the intro class, and it was a blast. The instructors were great, explained everything well and kept adding layers, which was great.
google avatar

Leona L.

Yelp
Before you can rent lanes to shoot on your own, you need to take their 1 hour beginner class. That's exactly what my boyfriend and I did and it was so much fun!! Our instructor was very helpful and patient. We were in a class of 4 with another couple. In the beginner class, you had two bow option that you can choose from during beginning of class (USA Archery Recurve Bow or Genesis Bow). We decided to go with the Recurve bow so we would love to come back to either this location or the one on Allen St to try the other one! Also at the end, you will have a chance to compete with the rest of the class and you can win a branded bottle!

Christine D.

Yelp
Was gifted an intro class by a friend and came in on a Friday afternoon. Our instructor Travis was great, very friendly and knowledgeable. The lesson was an hour and we learned basic techniques and safety requirements and got to release plenty of arrows. This is good date activity if you want to try something new!

Carlos D.

Yelp
This is my happy place. The space is amazing, Kelsey, Nat, Romel and the crew are more than incredible, always going above an beyond to give you hints, help you, etc. I learned how to shoot here and I wouldnt change it for anything.
google avatar

Jackie S.

Yelp
I came for a birthday party so we had a private room and instructor. It was a blast. The staff is very knowledgeable and attentive. Our session was two hours long and we had a crash course in archery then got to shooting. We did general shooting and played games which was some fun competition. Cool spot. Paid $70pp for the group rate.
google avatar

Omar G.

Yelp
Amazing Birthday Experience! The staff was very welcoming and knowledgeable about archery. Our instructor Mel was encouraging, enthusiastic and energetic with just my girl and I. They even have a glow in the dark option which I'd love to experience the next time. I'll pull up next time with more friends .
google avatar

Morlene C.

Yelp
Finally an opportunity to unleash my inner Robin Hood. I guess Katniss would be a more contemporary example, but I like Robin Hood. I had the joy of celebrating my birthday party here in a private area with ~20 friends, and it really drew a clear line between those with great hand eye coordination and those that don't. I very clearly fall into the latter camp. Despite missing the bullseye by a mile for a majority of the time, I still had a blast! They were very easy to communicate with via email, which put my type A self at ease while organizing the logistics for this party. I put a deposit down to hold the date and space and just showed up for the event. The instructors had a great sense of humor and were very clear and careful communicating how to use the various bows. They made sure there was little risk for injury and had us compete in several mini games, which prevented our two hours from getting too dull. Now that we've all gone through the training prerequisite we can go to Gotham Archery anytime to shoot some arrows. It's kind of like a bowling alley. I'm patting myself on the back for the resilience I'm exhibiting wanting to return after an embarrassing streak of completely missing the target. Maybe with enough practice I'll come back an archery pro.
google avatar

Yan L.

Yelp
We just finish our first visit today. Had so much fun. At first we kind worry it'll be too difficult for first time trying. But the employee are very patient and super friendly. Definitely will visit again soon.
google avatar

Erika P.

Yelp
Went to the intro archery class by myself and had a really great time! It's good for people trying to do more solo activities & people on dates/ groups of friends. The instructors are all friendly and very helpful. They encourage you & try to get everyone to have a fun time which makes the experience really nice! I even won a free tote bag from a little shooting game we played. Once you take the intro class you're allowed to come back and rent a lane to practice on your own (I think it's $16 per hour + equipment rental). This is a super fun activity & I'll definitely be back!

Mena S.

Yelp
Had a wonderful time here in the Intro to archery class. Instructors were kind and good humored and the class was very informative. They made sure everyone got attention and helped people find their form. It was a great time, and I've already booked more classes. If you have any interest at all in archery, or just trying something new and fun, I highly recommend Gotham Archery.

Yelp
So fun! And I got pretty good! I came with my 10-year-old kid and we both had so much fun in our intro lesson. Our two instructors were excellent...and irreverent. They taught us so much about how best to hold the bow and position ourselves, but they also made it really fun. We are definitely coming back. In the meantime, we feel well prepared for the zombie apocalypse.
google avatar

Angelina L.

Yelp
Introductory course: The instructor was really sweet and patient. In the introductory course it seems like a lot of info coming your way off the bat, but makes complete sense as you go. Masks are a must. Plastic curtains divide each lane. And everything is wiped down beforehand. I found this very meditative, unless you're super competitive/A type haha. Spoiler alert: I've been to the venue in Manhattan and recently in Brooklyn with wife who hadn't done archery since high school. (Very nice activitiy for a date!) There's a small competition at the end and Manhattan had a more elaborate game. But this was pre-Covid times. Brooklyn only had one, though fun.
google avatar

Victor H.

Yelp
I came here for axe throwing and it was very disappointing. The axes kept falling off from the handlers very frequently, and possibly making the whole throwing inaccurate and unbalanced. Because of this I was not able to get any axe stick to the wall. I would definitely suggest them to improve the quality of their axes. They had put everyone axes back into shape every round, it was very very very disappointing. Not worth your money for this class

Yelp
Came here today with my hubby and friend. Had reservation for 5:30pm and show up by 5pm. It was slow so we got to start earlier. We were done by 6pm and left to grab a quick bite @Checkers then back for more archery. Large building with many lanes. We took the intro class @$35 which includes equipment rental & lesson/practice. We were told we could just pay for lane rentalper person after lesson as the intro class include rental. We decided to cone back after food. Intro class- our instructor was Amazing! Forgive my spelling, Mauritsa or something like that, (she was the only female there) but she was AWESOME! She offered tips and even staying by us observing how we do do she can correct our stand/position and adjust the eye scope. We were in same class with this other couple (so 5 of us) which made it better because more 1on1 attention. There were other instructors there, so one came to help as well. We played 1 game after many rounds of practice, and hubby won! He got to pick a prize-- tore bag. There was 4 balloons (3pink 1 red) and first person to hit all the pink balloons only win. We'll be back ! Had so much fun.

Yelp
Went to Gotham Archery on a Friday night. I made reservations for two (online) since it's about $5 less than if you book over the phone. I arrived on time for our 7:30pm archery class which goes right into your session. It runs for about an hour total so you get 15 mins of instruction before you shoot your life away. The instructors were animated and encouraged participation and engagement. I was cracking up most of the time but paying attention. They guide you and make sure you're holding the bow properly and that you place the arrow correctly. Our group had someone who was there for her birthday so they gave her a really cool goodie bag. You get to keep your target or you can leave it there. You decide. There's also an option to tip and I definitely did because I enjoyed the experience and I'd say our instructors contributed to that. I would definitely go back! They also have black light archery which is pretty cool.
