Gourmandize Review - Galleria - Houston - The Infatuation

"The Galleria Food Truck Park off Chimney Rock hums with pure spectral chaos. And the bright lights and billow of charcoal smoke from Gourmandize hold court right up front. This Tunisian spot is one of the best food trucks in Houston. Almost everyone is either parked sub legally grabbing a takeout order or hawking goods like an impromptu swap meet. And at least half of those are lined up at Gourmandize. The truck’s blazing hot open grill churns out hundreds of chimichurri-rubbed lamb chops, crispy chicken wings sprinkled with sumac, and spicy Merguez lamb-stuffed pitas every night until 3:30am. Forget settling for a late-night drive-thru and join the crowd. photo credit: Quit Nguyen photo credit: Quit Nguyen photo credit: Quit Nguyen photo credit: Quit Nguyen Food Rundown photo credit: Quit Nguyen Loaded Hummus There’s so much spiced, crispy beef here you can barely see the silky hummus beneath. We like to dredge pretty much everything we order through this dish, from the lamb chops to the chicken wings. photo credit: Quit Nguyen Merguez Wrap Gourmandize smothers its lamb and beef merguez sausage with harissa then stuffs it into pita with fries and so much garlic aioli you’ll need to engage a hover-over-the-plate stance to avoid getting splashed. photo credit: Quit Nguyen Beef Kefta Taco This minced beef kefta is slid straight from a fiery hot kebab into a soft, handmade tortilla. Stuffed with avocado and served with a bright green chimichurri-turned-salsa, these tacos will make any early dinner or late-night meal extra spicy. photo credit: Quit Nguyen Chicken Wings Over Rice These may be the most beautiful chicken wings we’ve ever seen. The texture of the char, the deep golden skin, and the amount of herb flecks are equivalent to a Dutch masterwork of art. And they taste just as incredible, with a hint of sweetness and a hint of smoke. photo credit: Quit Nguyen Lamb Chops Over Rice We will dream of these lamb chops forever. Each is moist and tender, with just a hint of charcoal-grill char and chimmichurri. And while the chops are the star, the fluffy rice and crisp salad are just as delicious. No square millimeter of this dish should be left unconsumed." - Chelsea Thomas

To the owner and the cook, don’t tell my husband but we go together 🤣🤣. I got Lamb Chops over rice and Beef Kabobs for my daughter. I found this gem on Door Dash but I decided to go in person (so happy I did. This food truck is a whole vibe and the fact that it was my first time trying Mediterranean food, chef’s kiss 😘

Google
The worst shawarma I've ever eaten in my life. It didn't even have any meat and it looked like they'd put jalapeño in it. I haven't even eaten anything like that in Lebanon. It's not authentic Arabic food, a total rip-off. No wonder it was empty.

THIS PLACE IS WHACK ! DONT COME UNLESS YOU GOT 30-45 MINUTES TO WASTE. I’m from California and was in town so I heard about this place and stopped by. I waited over 30 minutes for my food. At first they said it would be 10-15 minutes and then I waited over 20 minutes. Then the guy told me my food would be ready in 2-3 minutes and still ended up waiting like another 10-15 minutes. Everyone that was standing there was upset waiting on their orders. They give priority to the online orders and the phone call orders and don’t care about the people that walk up. People kept coming to pick up orders and leaving while like 5-6 of us were waiting and waiting outside the truck forever trying to get our food. They got their priorities wrong.

Google
Ordered the beef over rice and charcoal grilled wings which were very much worth the wait. I ate a few wings and some of the fries before I took the photo. Will definitely be back to try other items. This place is located in a food truck lot with multiple food trucks. Parking can sometimes take a minute.

Google
This food truck is FIRE! 🔥 So so SO SO good! Loved everything we ordered. Their wings and lamb chops were absolutely delicious and most memorable for me—just all around tastiness. I probably would eat this everyday if I could. Love the rice as well. Food takes a while to come out especially if your order is large, so don't expect to be served at a speed of a drive thru, but I can guarantee it's worth the wait. There aren't any tables or seating available so be warned, you'll have to find a spot somewhere or be like us: we couldn't resist and had to eat it while it was hot and fresh in our car. Too bad my stomach space is limited otherwise I'd definitely order every single item on their menu. Highly, highly recommend them!

Google
The food was great. Very delicious and tender. I would have loved some more chimichurri sauce and some pita bread to go with the Lamb over Rice plate. I believe you have to order that separately. But overall it is a good place to eat.

Google
Everything was seasoned so good. Very good waited 20 mins

Google
I called in my order and was told it would be ready in an 15 minutes. I showed up on time, only to find out the food still wasn’t ready. When I asked about it, the guy working there had an attitude and told me to “please have some patience,” as if I hadn’t already waited long enough. Then he claimed the system was down and told me to wait. Still—no food. The staff was extremely rude and unprofessional. Totally disappointed with the service. Avoid this place unless you enjoy wasting your time and being treated poorly.

Yelp
The lamp kabob is really great and the house drink is good too. Some of the best food I ever had. I forgot to take a picture of the food before I ate it.

Yelp
Finally visited the famous galleria food truck park that I've been seeing on Instagram. Parking was a bit tough as there are not many spots and cars are going in every direction. Be prepared to eat in your car or on your trunk because there is no where to sit. Gourmandize had a bit of a line compared to the other food trucks, but we surprisingly only waited 10-15 minutes for our food to be ready! I ordered the merguez taco, shish lamb taco, and a rice bowl. Can I just say that the merguez taco was absolutely amazing. The charcoal grilled spicy lamb and beef sausage with salsas, jalapeño, cilantro, and avocado were the perfect mix of Mediterranean and Mexican. PS I would bring extra napkins and utensils as they had a limited supply.

Yelp
Wow I couldn't have been more disappointed. I was so stoked to try this place after seeing the social media photos. After waiting 25 minutes for my order, the food was very underwhelming. I ordered the Marquez and the lamb taco. Both lacked flavor. There needed to be a sauce or something. It just tasted like grilled meat inside a tortilla poorly seasoned. You can try it for yourself, but I've had way better even from gyro hut or franchises like that. I'm got cat phished lol

Yelp
My most two liked dishes. The Merguez Wrap and the chicken wings over rice! You will not regret it. I keep forgetting to take a photo because I finish either one of the dishes too quickly because they are sooooo good!

Yelp
Gourmandize is freaking amazing! 5 out of 5! I don't know the words to speak more highly of this food truck. Every thing on the menu is amazing! My favorite thing here are their charcoal wings. OMG these wings are so damn good! I can not speak more highly of their wing. I have to say they have to be my most favorite wings. For the most part I usually only order from them off of DoorDash but the times I have been there to order in person the staff has always been nice. The chicken shawarma taco is another stand out to me. However the kabobs, wraps, and humus are all so good. Everything here is made to order so expect a little bit of a wait on orders, so I recommend calling an order in, in advance but it's worth the wait. So again, this is one of the best food trucks in Houston. I can't recommend more highly.
google avatar

Omar S.

Yelp
The smell of this place floods chimney rock so I had to give this spot a try! Flavor was amazing and did not disappoint. The only flaw was that I found a small hair in my food
google avatar

Goldie O.

Yelp
Stumbled across this spot at the galleria food truck park and it did not disappoint! I looked at the reviews and tried the merguez wrap and it was really good! It was like a lamb/beef sausage in a wrap! They said it was spicy but I didn't personally find too spicy. It's very well seasoned and you bc a tell it's grilled which left a good smoky flavor to me. Only critique was that I wish it was a bit warmer (because I ate it in the parking lot) but popping in the air fryer or microwave would've set it off! I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Located in the Galleria Food Truck Park, there isn't very much parking if it's remotely busy. We got lucky with a parking spot, but most people had to park on the street and walk a bit. We came at 10pm on a Friday and the wait was 25 minutes for food to come out, even though there was no line when we got there. I think it might be the standard wait time no matter what you get or how busy it is. We walked around while waiting and must have missed them call our name because when we came back to wait, they didn't give us our order even though it was ready. They were calling other people and handing them their food, but never us. We waited an extra 15 minutes, thinking it just wasn't ready, because we thought the guy at the window would give it to us when he saw we came back. Even when there was no line. He didn't. We had to get in line, because a line eventually formed, and go up to the window to ask for our order that had been sitting out for 15-20 minutes by that point. It was honestly really annoying. Because of this, we ended up waiting 40 minutes when it was probably ready in 15-20...most people don't stand around waiting for 25 minutes. They usually walk around or go to their car. I don't think it's too much to expect them to notice us come back and give us our order when there's not even a line. That's just like basic service...But I guess they want people to constantly come up to the window and bother them asking about their order. So be warned (this might vary depending on the guy working the window too). Despite this, the food was really good! We drove home instead of eating outside or in our car, so by the time we actually ate the food, it had been over an hour since we placed our order *eyeroll*. We had to microwave it because it was cold by that point, but it held up and tasted fresh. LAMB KABOB: This was actually soooooo good. Almost made the bad service worth it. There was a lot of lamb, so they didn't skimp out. You could really taste the natural, gamey lamb flavor, and I really liked that, but my bf didn't and thought it needed more seasoning. It just depends on what you like. But there was a lot of delicious sauce, so it wasn't dry, and the onions, tomatoes, and cilantro worked really well to make it feel lighter. I didn't know how I'd feel about the fries inside, but I didn't really notice them. I don't even know if they were seasoned. They kinda felt like filler, but not in a bad way. Also, this was 10 inches long, wrapped in a thin pita bread. I was shocked at how big it was. I'd definitely get this again. I'll just wait at the window next time lol (fyi: a lot of oil drained from this, so be careful of it dripping) MERGUEZ WRAP: Very flavorful. My bf liked this one way more than the lamb kabob because he liked the seasoning and spice, but I still liked the lamb better. It says it's a sausage on the menu, but there's no casing, so the meat ended up crumbing and resembling ground meat as opposed to a sausage. It has the same toppings as the lamb, so it was delicious as well. Also wrapped in a 10 inch, thin pita bread. I'd recommend it if you want something with a little kick to it.

Yelp
Pricey for a food truck, but expected when you are near the galleria area. Gourmandize brings gourmet Mediterranean food to you, straight out of a truck. Located within the Galleria Food Truck Park, Gourmandize has many perks since its open late and has tons of options to chose from. We came here on a Friday night, and the place was definitely popular and very busy. This whole area is pretty much a vibe during the weekend. The customer service was descent, but it did take quite a while for our food to be ready. At least 20 minutes for an order of hummus with lamb. The Loaded Hummus Combo came with only one piece of pita bread, and the portion sized seemed a bit small, so we were very hesitant when we got back home to eat it. The minute that lamb and hummus hit my taste buds it was absolutely delicious. Amazing, fantastic, just delicious. It was all worth it, and this is certainly one of the best food trucks parked in the area, and one I'd consider returning to.

Yelp
For a late night food order through door dash I wasn't expecting much considering it was almost 2 AM at my hotel . This place was absolutely delicious. The wings with rice and one of the tacos with a side of garlic sauce really hit the spot ! Super delicious
google avatar

Amanda S.

Yelp
My husband and I tried the Merguez wrap, lamb wrap, chicken wrap and smoked chicken over rice. Also the Gourmandize refresh drink. All three wraps tasted great! A 9/10 only because I like more salt. My husband loved the Merguez and chicken wrap. The refresh drink was wonderful. The smoked chicken over rice was just ok. We will be back for the wrap and tacos again and again. Oh, I forgot about the garlic sauce. It was great to. I loved my meal. The smoked chicken needs some more flavor. Again, that dish was just ok not bad but not great.

Fazley R.

Yelp
So impressed by Gourmandize and their Tunisian way of doing wraps and over rice entrees. We stopped by on a Sunday and got the Merguez wrap which consists of a lamb and beef mixture accompanied with a house sauce, veggies and French fries. Simply one of the greatest food items I have eaten in a long time. We also got a combo over rice which consisted of beef and chicken. Both proteins flavored just right, the star was the rice. Perfectly seasoned and I love how they include a salad with the rice. Also one of the better over rice entrees I have had in a very long time. Gyro King has competition now. Also they grill their chicken wings over charcoal and it's just immaculate. Amazing job. We will certainly be back.

Yelp
The service and the food was amazing! I had a complicated order but the owner or manager understood what I wanted and placed the order himself. I totally forgot to order my water bottle and the owner gave it to me without a charge. Thank you He also brought my food to my car. That's what I call great service!!! Food: The lamb was tender and well cooked, for me It just needed a little salt but over all it was great The chicken wrap was amazing flavor was great and very juicy I will definitely be coming back! You can place orders on phone which I recommend because they do make your food fresh and it may take a while. I don't thing I waited more than 20 min but it was worth it Something to note is they are among other food trucks and parking is very tricky.
google avatar

Matt S.

Yelp
Amazing lamb beef kabob, I needed that. Great customer service, happy and fun staff. Would come back here again. Great vibes

Mer'cari M.

Yelp
I'm not sure what the hype is about because my food was mediocre. I don't know what type of bread they gave me but it wasn't the bread advertised on the front of the truck. Fries were super thick and tasteless.
google avatar

Maria C.

Yelp
Few things are better than the merguez wrap! So delicious and I often crave it. Service is fast. I usually place an order on the phone and it is ready in about ten minutes. Highly recommend if you are in a hurry but need good food!
google avatar

Sonia K.

Yelp
A little bit of a sketch neighborhood and parking may be tricky, but the food here is kinda worth it. I was lucky to find street parking close by, but while I was on the premises experienced some folks and a neighboring food's truck staff who were being very unruly and loud. So just come aware. Coming to the matter at hand, the food was phenomenal! Their lamb sheesh kabob wrap was my favorite! I got the merguez wrap and chicken shawarma on the recommendation of other reviewers, but th lamb was my personal favorite. I'll be coming back with friends for sure!
google avatar

Alexis T.

Yelp
Good! Not to die for but I'm sure at the end of the night I'd give this 5 stars. I got the lamb shish taco and it was very flavorful! My boyfriend got the lamb gyro. It isn't huge so if you're starving or sharing then get two with a side of fries or something a lil extra. Service is good but slow. Your options to pay are cashapp or zelle. Zelle took awhile to go through so we were standing in the beating sun for awhile waiting for them to receive it. There's not a order/wait mechanism like buzzers or texts so you kinda just have to wait in the sun so that takes away a bit from the experience. Overall, I'll probably try again but I'll also probably try the trucks further down on Westheimer first.
google avatar

Micaela M.

Yelp
One of a kind meal. Taste is very new and different in a great way! Service was pleasant and helpful. Ambiance is calm . Workers took the time to explain to me the menu and told me some of their best sellers. Which I can say is extremely good! Try their famous Gourmandize wrap and make it spicy . Their wings make you feel like you are in the middle of July at the park !
google avatar

Virginia M.

Yelp
A friend recommended this place as he saw it on insta and I was voted Guinea pig !! And wow what a treat this place is (so far). I ordered three lamb tacos and TBH was shocked at the price of each taco BUT when I got to work and saw they used huge chunks of lamb I understood. The lamb was so juicy and tasty that it started making my tortillas tear :) another HUGE bonus is that they actually cook the flour tortillas (they had the brown spots!!!) a lot of Tex mex places seem not to understand you have to put the tortilla (flour and corn) on a comal and cook them bad boys!!! They were very generous with the avocado and the tacos were huge!!!!! The green sauce it came with could use a bit more spice but overall the food was delicious !!! I will be going back to try other items. The only other complaint is the wait. But over all amazing place
google avatar

Dee D.

Yelp
I saw this on IG and was so tempted to get to it. I finally made my way here and I am torn between if I want to go back or not. The loaded hummus was really good. I've always had hummus. But never loaded. This was a nice concept. I also ordered the grilled wings. Which actually did look exactly like they did on IG. But when I say they had absolutely no seasoning on them. I mean it. Not one spec. Sigh. That made me sad. The place was pretty busy. I may go back to try a wrap. But there are way too many really good food places in Houston to go to medicore. I'm hoping it was a one off.
google avatar

Akhilesh B.

Yelp
Really good food and it's Halal. I visited this food truck one late night when I was out with a friend who had a dietary restriction to eat Halal. This place did not disappoint. We got their Lamb Shawarma Sandwich. It was juicy and seasoned quite well. It did take a little bit for our food to be prepared, but it might be because they prepare lamb on order only after a certain time in the evening. There are a few other food trucks around here, making it a good location for eating out with friends that want to eat different cuisines.
google avatar

Natasha L.

Yelp
Damn it was good. Really really really good. I had their beef wrap and it was perfect. Spicy and saucy. Oh so saucy. You would think that it being so saucy, it would be messy to eat, but it wasn't. The guys wrapped the wrap perfectly. No spills or drips. Everything was in tact. The area is shady so please be alert.
google avatar

Ray R.

Yelp
Never had this place until Uber delivered it to me by mistake. I ordered something else at the food park. To the customer who ordered the plate and probably never received any food (not even my cheesesteak), I'm sorry boo! Sad face!! I hope u got your refund from Uber plus a credit. But u definitely have good taste because that orange spicy sauce was delicious! I mean I couldn't let the food go to waste and I was starving. But I'd be willing to try this place again. The meat was a little dry but it was plenty of food and the sauce saved the plate. Too much food for me to eat in one sitting especially when my 2nd cheesesteak was on the way and that's what i really wanted. Glad I got a chance to try something new bc i normally don't.
google avatar

Taylor E.

Yelp
Food is good although serving sizes are very small. Prices are WAY higher if you order online and pick up (not even adding delivery fee) then if you were to order at the window. My meal without tip was $72 when ordered online but if I had ordered at the window it would've been $58. Update your prices otherwise you are cheating people. It's unethical, makes people not trust you, and it's just bad for business.
google avatar

Julie S.

Yelp
Saw this truck reviewed on "Eat like a Local" and I knew I had to try it! The food did not disappoint! We ordered 2 lamb tacos, 1 chicken shwarma and wings. All were fresh and tasted great!! My husband (never finishes an entire meal) ate the entire Shwarma wrap!! The lamb tacos are amazing! A real mashup of middle-eastern tex-mex. A tribute to Houston The wings. Marinated and charcoal grilled.. oh yes! If you've never visited the Food truck corner you really need to try it!!
google avatar

Ashley H.

Yelp
I really love the lamb kababo and Mohammed is super nice and helpful with me and ordering (:

Shad M.

Yelp
Extremely slow. long wait. Pretty decent food but just know you will be waiting forever. When I finskly did get my food it wasn't even fresh.

Tree P.

Yelp
Decent spot. This food truck are is chaos and that is a pretty significant impediment to frequent visits. The food is made with care and is decent. The Marguez is more ground meat like versus sausage like, which I'm less a fan of, but it is very good. The chicken wings were the best thing we tried, charcoal made and really really good. The lamb chops were meh, I would skip them given the price. Fries are also very good. Definitely a few levels above the average middle eastern fare. If you're in the area, I'd strongly recommend.

Alanna V.

Yelp
the food was really good! great filling late night place. great customer service! wait time was 10 mins
google avatar

Moneyumyum K.

Yelp
The foods usually really good. This is supposed to be on the healthier side of resturaunt's... I think... but my last couple visits the food was draped in oil. If anything changes I'll change my review.

Wyman W.

Yelp
After watching an episode of eat local, I gave the chicken wings and rice a try. It was outstanding!!!
google avatar

Bea C.

Yelp
Best food !!!! Charcoal chicken wings and rice is the best you have to try and lamb taco

Danny J.

Yelp
The chicken Shawarma here is pretty good. I wish they had a lamb Shawarma. Also, it would be nice if there was some way for them to contact you when your food is ready instead of just waiting outside the truck for the for them to call your name.
google avatar

Mohamed Sofien Z.

Yelp
I got the chicken wings combo today, they are fire. Ask for the garlic sauce it's an amazing combo. Best in Houston.
google avatar

Gary R.

Yelp
Man the chicken wings were amazing along with rice and hummus. The Merguez wrap is another winner. I also got the beef hummus that had a nice smokey flavor. Worth the terrible location(parking) to go.

Rose F.

Yelp
So delicious! I ordered late night delivery on Uber eats. Got the Lamb Kabob over rice. Lamb and rice both have tons of flavor. Lamb is tender. The garlic sauce is amazing. Salad is fresh, a little light on dressing but nice seasoning on the tomatoes and onion. Would definitely order again!
google avatar

Hello C.

Yelp
We ordered late around 9pm. Food has good heat not the lingering kind. Good flavor and portion size. Ordered the wing platter and beef/lamb kabob wrap. The only thing in the wrap that I may suggest is more veggies. The sliced tomatoes were so thin that you would never even know they were there. Which threw the balance off. That can even hold back on the meat and still add the veggies and it'd still be an amazing wrap. So more veggies please or cut them bigger for that added crunch and freshness. My husband enjoyed the wing platter. Flavor was on point but the wings were a little too dry. Maybe cause it was towards the end of the night but can't say it didn't taste good. Overall we'd give it a 7/10. If the above was fixed we'd say 10/10.

John A.

Yelp
I really love this food truck, the lamp chops are really good, and the loaded hummus is great. So tasty

Hashim z.

Yelp
One of the best lamb kabob I've ever tasted, and the people were so friendly and welcoming even though it was so busy with them, I love gourmandize.

Andrew D.

Yelp
Good food. Sometimes easier to pick up in person then order online. Parking can get hectic.

Souhaiel L.

Yelp
Best Mediterranean food in Houston so yammy the service is really good and the owner is so friendly
google avatar

Anastasia E.

Yelp
I never get home from Gourmandize without devouring the food in my car hence the lack of photos. I always get the beef tacos with a few garlic sauce for the extra flavor, the chimichurri goes so well with the amount of avocados it has. The meat/protein to taco/carb to veggie ration is good. I have tried the chicken wings over rice, the lamb over rice. The Tunisian guy at the counter is very animated and funny, I actually missed his "it will be ready in 25 minutes" the other evening when he wasn't there. The ambience is a food truck park, so the patrons are for the most part willing to wait for the food. At one time, there was a customer who voiced out feeling empathy toward a lady that had a DoorDash order since she has to wait a longer time. It speaks volume of the customer service of this place since the order or priority is that the orders placed in person comes before the DoorDash. I like that a lot and I hope that this business flourishes to where the owner can actually open up a restaurant in the future. I will be a loyal customer and will bring my big family with me, they will surely be repeat customers as well. In the meantime, I will be coming back for more Tunisian food in the future and will be getting more of that lamb over rice. It is that good y'all! 5 out of 5 stars for service, food and wishing for all the good luck for the future of this food truck. Hope that it flourishes not only in the New Year ahead as well as in the coming years.

Marimar E.

Yelp
Loved their Shawrma! Great combo with their sauce and potato's. And the wings with the charcoal flavor were the top! Looking forward to trying the rest of the menu!

Oluchi F.

Yelp
Good God it was delicious. I've been lying awake at night thinking about it no joke. I had the Lamb wrap. Holy cow!! The lamb was smoky and the sauce was delicious. Go try it!!!

Luis G.

Yelp
Tried the beef kabob today and it was delicious. The best Mediterranean food I've had.
google avatar

Greg A.

Yelp
I love halal food, especially lamb. This lamb dish was absolutely amazing! I may return and order the same entree with the spicy sauce tomorrow. Great service and delectable food at a fair price.
google avatar

Jeannine D.

Yelp
This was, hands down, not only the best food truck I have ever eaten at (and I live in NYC) but the best Tunisian food you'll find in the US!! The brik was better than I ate in Tunisia and everything else is fresh and cooked to order!! Go, you won't be disappointed!!

Harees S.

Yelp
The food is great but the service is terrible. I placed an order over the phone and they ignored it. I tried giving them a second chance and they did the same thing the following week.
