The Grafton Irish Pub & Grill Review - Lincoln Square - Chicago - The Infatuation

"This Irish pub in Lincoln Square is dark and cozy, has a long beer list, and perfectly fine bar food. In other words, there isn't much setting it apart from the hundreds of other spots in the area that are just like it - except for the Grafton's fantastic fireplace. It's made of stone, burns real wood, and makes this place one of our favorite winter destinations." - Adrian Kane

The Grafton Irish Pub & Grill Review - Lincoln Square - Chicago - The Infatuation

"The Grafton is a cozy spot in Lincoln Square with lots of planters out front, a fireplace in the back, and a dark wood bar and dining room in between. You can order typical pub food like chicken wraps, onion rings, and some pretty thick burgers, and you won’t be wowed by any of it, but it will get the job done when you want to pair a couple beers with a casual and satisfying meal. There’s live Irish folk music here every Sunday and some other things like trivia happening throughout the week." - Marnie Shure

Where to Drink in Boston While Watching March Madness | Eater Boston

Google
This was the best Bloody Mary we’ve had on our trip to Boston - Pablo is an excellent bartender and has a secret recipe scratch mix - yum!!! Delicious burger and Cesar salad too. Great music and friendly atmosphere. Five stars - definitely stop here when in Cambridge.

Google
Love the beer and steak here. But the mussels' sauce is too salty.

Steven Dalton

Google
Really enjoyable experience. The bar steak was perfect. And the drinks were on point. Props to the bartenders!

Google
We made reservations for 6 people. The staff were friendly and food was very good. I had a burger with salad and fries.

Google
Paul made this first time visit a top tier experience. Right away, he gave us excellent service and attention. We are from out of town and gave us tons of other recommendations to check out in the area. The drinks were elite. Lastly, we ordered the Grilled Lobster Tail and it was accompanied by a corn pudding 🤩 This visit alone makes it worth coming back for when the Cubs and Red Sox play again. ⚾️

Google
Food quality was slightly under seasoned but otherwise ok, possibly due to ordering the Thanksgiving special instead of a regular menu item. Portions were slightly below what I was expecting for the price, especially the vegetables and sweet potato mash. Biggest crime, in my opinion, is an Irish restaurant/bar serving $10 draft beers with zero or hardly any head (English style) - feels almost comical. Service was outstanding and prompt, though that's a low bar to clear for dinner at 1 pm. Atmosphere was outstanding - a testiment to the effort and quality established in the venue's past life as Park Street Restaurant. I still wish Grafton Street incorporated more options from Park Street's menu given the operator is the same.

Google
What a fantastic place in the heart of the city!! Paul is a master craftsman behind the bar. The decor and ambience harkens back to Ireland! I finally got the very rare Blanton bourbon here. Thanks Paul. Cheers!

Google
Brunch here at the new location was excellent. Paul provided great service behind the bar (his jokes were the only thing that surpassed his service). Definitely coming back

Yelp
Great service at the bar and wonderful ambiance, excellent oysters paired with a pint

Yelp
I often come to Grafton Street for brunch and I feel like home. As soon as we walk in, Pablo the bartender already knows our favorite drinks and always makes us feel welcome. I absolutely love their blueberry pancakes and the chill vibe of the pub!

Megan R.

Yelp
Paul, a veteran bartender and excellent storyteller, puts his Irish accent aside to provide one of the most Boston experiences you can get in the heart of Cambridge. Nerds from Harvard that surround the pub be damned, Paul provides a light-hearted experience that any lad or lady would enjoy.

Yelp
This spot has a great location right next to a parking garage and they Validate! The Staff is very accommodating and friendly and it has a warm and comfy atmosphere! Recently they had a private function and had an area that was only for that event and served tasty small bites and open bar with featured beverages! Wasn't too crowded and was just right amount of invited guests!

Yelp
Got an Irish breakfast. Food was nice but portion was small for the price. Always get excited when these places say "traditional Irish" on the item but it never is made with actual ingredients from Ireland. The service was great and the atmosphere is very nice but a bit overpriced!

Yelp
This place offers a very cozy, warm, and low light atmosphere that is perfect for small groups of friends/families to gather. We happened to be in the area looking for a meal at the last minute, and got a table at 5:30pm for 4 (myself, husband, and our two young teenager boys). There was already a good crowd inside, especially around the bar area. It was also very cold and snowy outside, which made the atmosphere feel even more inviting on a winter evening. Our waitress was great; friendly, helpful, and quick. The prices were reasonable too. I got the Grafton burger, as is, and it was delicious! We ordered the smoked wings for appetizers and they were amazing! This turned out to be a great spot for us and I would go back again. In the warmer weather, you can eat in a few outside tables they have, and they even have a tv outside for broadcasting whatever sports game of the season. Glad we found the place in our last minute need to warm up and find food!

Yelp
What a spot. Great vibes! Dark, with warm wood accents. Regular dining tables as well as a speak easy style drinking lounge. The bartender Natalia and Samatha did an excellent job, friendly and welcoming. The bar manager has an excellent selection of beer, wine and spirits. I come for the drinks but was super satisfied with the cheeseboard with 5 different local selections! Yum!

Yelp
Senior paradise. Who knew that a pub could have a parlor area! We love gastro pubs but don't like the noise. When I went to the hostess I ask if there was a quiet area. What a surprise when she brought us to our secluded parlor. I was thrilled to see full Irish breakfast on the menu. It was as good as the many Irish breakfasts I've had in UK. My glass of Prosecco was filled to the top! I loved the friendly service here.

Wendy B.

Yelp
Our last night in Boston my Niece took us there for dinner and drinks. Place wasn't crowded, it was midweek. We asked for the back room next to fire place they were more than happy to let us choose a table. It was wonderful as if we had the place to ourselves. Our servers name Natalia. She was wonderful. I asked for a light beer but didn't know which to have she offered to taste before ordering which was kind of her. My sister wanted apple martini which wasn't on the menu she said no problem. The food was delicious we had two rounds of oysters they were so fresh and then we had fish and chips it was delicious too. Every one of us was happy with their meal. Great atmosphere very cozy. I would definitely go back when visiting Boston again.

Yelp
This restaurant is a part of the group that brought you Russell House Tavern and Hourly Oyster. I think it may be the best of the three! We had the chicken wings, beet salad, and slow-roasted half chicken and it was mind blowing. The service was excellent and attentive even on a very busy Saturday night. The beet salad was a standout and the flavor of the slow-roasted chicken was insane. A strong recommend!

Yelp
We just came in from New York and were blessed to meet Paul! He was the warmest and most inviting man we've ever met! The atmosphere was amazing as well as the drinks. Paul went above and beyond in every aspect. We will 1000% be back and will be telling every person about Grafton Street Pub. Soooo lucky to have stumbled upon this place. Paul, your three New York girlies love ya!

Yelp
Good crème brûlée. Ambience is alright. Nothing special. Might try their savory dishes like their Fried chicken sandwich and their Mexican chocolate tart. Loved the peach mango downeast.

Yelp
Elevated and creative cuisine and cocktails! My partner and I came here on Valentine's Day and were very pleased. They also had a unique menu and drinks for the day. Food- absolutely phenomenal and truly unique. I got a farro bowl as I believe it was the only vegetarian entree option that night and I was so incredibly impressed. This bowl was bursting with so much flavor- perfectly crunchy chickpeas, notes of fennel and other seasonings layered through every bite. Drinks- also really unique! We got a Valentine's Day themed drink which was really fun as well as a couple others and they were all quite different from the typical cocktails you'd get elsewhere. I love the creativity this place has, you can tell the chefs and bartenders are given the freedom to experiment and remain inspired. Service- fast and friendly even though we were here on a holiday ~vibes~ really dimly lit in here which doesn't make for the best food pictures but certainly creates a cozy and intimate experience

Yelp
Wasn't planning on going to Grafton Street but they had no wait had brunch and drinks so we had to give it a try. This place is very nice on the inside and for sure has English vides. We quickly looked over the menu and there was a lot that sounded good but first good get drinks before going to Harvard. A pitcher of mimosas was $48 which as a Floridan who has bottomless around for $15 to $25 per person it does sounds like a lot but let's be honest your not gonna beat Florida. Our pitcher came out and I will say it's a lot of OJ, fresh squeezed OJ but still a lot and as fresh OJ has... a lot of pulp. price just seemed high for what you get. Now there was a lot of options that sounded good for brunch. They do have an English Breakfast but I'm going to London soon so I'll wait. I went with the Chicken and Waffles. I love Chicken and Waffles please this came with Sausage Gravy which is also one of my loves. Their Chicken and Waffles comes with bacon & scallion waffles, sweet potato purée, swiss chard, bourbon-pecan syrup, sausage gravy. You had me at Bacon Waffle but I didn't notice any. I also did must the Swiss Chard which is basically spinach.. Just why not need for that at all but they seem to put it in most of their dishes. All 3 of the entrees was got had it. It's Chicken and Waffles, with gravy just through health out the window, but for Harvard reason I guess gotta have your greens. The gravy was not like any I have had either. More runny then thick but again I'm from the south. Everything else I mention would have been fine but the Chicken had so seasoning. It was so bland. As I'm typing this I'm thinking could this be 2 stars worthy... I think no, plus you really have to let me down to be 2 stars. Our food did come out very fast which is something I'm not gonna complain about either and serve was good. Just a little bit of a heads up if your going. I will say I did try their Sweet Potato Home Fries which I did like and I'm not a sweet potato fan. Again trying to give you come more health because once again Harvard.

Yelp
Came here with a party of 2 on a Friday evening and was seated relatively quickly despite it being the H v Y weekend. It is quite a loud and packed place - I would not recommend it for those with children. We started off with some drinks which were good. For food we got the Grafton burger and the chickpea fritters. The burger was good - nothing to write home about. The chickpeas however were SO salty. So much so that we did not finish the dish. I'm not sure if it was a one-off accident but I would not order that dish again. I would recommend this place for a fun dinner with friends

Yelp
We called ahead to see what time the kitchen closed, and the man who answered the phone said 1 am. We arrived at 11:20 pm and was told the kitchen closed at 11:30 pm and we had to order right away. Sure, no problem. We got the curry shrimp and the spicy meatballs. The tomatillo sauce that the meatballs came in were inedible. Sour, runny, and a way too excessive amount. The meatballs were drowning in it. Our server dropped off our plates without silverware, so we had to ask for it ourselves from the host. We then could not flag down our server later when we needed the bill. Maybe the brunch or the full menu is better, but the limited pub menu they had really left us hungry and not all that satisfied.

Kayla S.

Yelp
One of the best brunches I've had! I ordered the eggs Benedict and it was amazing. From the bread it was on, perfectly cooked eggs and fabulous hollandaise it is a must try. The sweet potatoes that came with it were also to die for! Everything else my family ordered was also fantastic, so definitely can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The ambience is very calming and quiet which made for a great meal to start the day. We ordered a pitcher of mimosas as well which were delicious. Would absolutely return!

Yelp
Came to Harvard Square for the first time in YEARS (despite being a Boston local all my life!) and decided to grab a bite to eat with a friend. We stopped at Grafton and were both eager to try the Grafton burgers. I got all toppings and sauces included cooked well done, and my friend got it plain cooked medium. At first, there was a mix-up and our patties got swapped (I got the medium and she got the well done), but the waiters kindly replaced it and were so sweet! The staff at Grafton are wonderful, and checked in numerous times to ensure we were satisfied. When the burgers came, they were great! Not the best burger I've ever had, but I left satisfied. The service was what made the experience 4 stars.

Yelp
I liked it a lot. Great beer selection. Food was really good. Service was great. Nice upscale pub vibe.

Yelp
Got the Irish Breakfast and it was delicious! Paul was an amazing host and the service was top notch! Definitely coming back again! (Especially for the Mimosas)

Yelp
We had originally planned to get some bagels and exploring before going on a tour of Harvard however, it was pouring down rain so we decided to stop and have a proper breakfast/brunch. Being that we had not planned to stop in to Grafton Street I had no idea what I wanted to eat so I was pleasantly surprised there was plenty of things on the menu that look delicious! Our server was super friendly and helpful in guiding us with what to order. We started our brunch with the Japanese Soufflé Pancakes and a craft of Mimosas. The pancakes were strange, good but strange. The texture was fluffy and soft and the taste was not as sweet as I was expecting but the maple syrup definitely sweetened them up. The mimosas were delicious and I think we got about 6-8 out of the craft. They used fresh squeezed Orange Juice! For my meal I ordered the spinach and feta omelette which was good but should have been done with egg whites maybe, I'm not sure but something was missing. The sweet potato fries were delicious and perfectly cooked! This was a great place to stop in on a Saturday morning.

Yelp
My husband and I came here on a Saturday night before a show in the area. There was some sort of event going on (saw people with nametags) so it was super crowded and loud, but we had a reservation and were seated right away. I was pleased to see they had a couple of mocktail selections on the menu (just two, but I never expect much). I chose one made with hibiscus tea with jalapeno listed as one of the ingredients, but it just kind of ended up tasting like a weaker iced tea without much flavor. I asked for a couple of slices of fresh jalapeno to spice it up, which did help. We ordered the mezze platter for an app - the tzatziki was incredible and we loved the pita. For mains we got the burger and the spicy chicken sandwich. Chicken sandwich was good but burger was amazing. My husband said it's the best he's had since we moved to Boston. Despite how busy they were, the service was fantastic and we were in and out in less than an hour. I really liked the vibe of the den and would love to return on a day when they're less busy and it's a little quieter so we can linger more. All in all, highly recommend!

Yelp
Dining method: Dine-in Item(s) ordered: French toast sticks, Japanese pancake, Cold brew, Mimosa Speed: Came out about 10-15 minutes after ordering. Ambiance: Dark, moody, speakeasy vibes. The review: Grafton Street is a fabulous option for brunch, and their $5 mimosa can't be beat. We sat in the parlor, which had comfy lounge seating and was perfect for intimate conversation with a friend or someone more than friends (hehe)! We ordered their small plates (see pics for size). I'd say that if you're very hungry, go for the large plate or two small ones! The French toast sticks were consisted of thin-sliced and rolled bread, perfectly seasoned and deep-fried, with a dusting of powdered sugar. The Japanese pancake was a singular, very thick, fluffy matcha pancake. Both were delicious, especially if you want to satisfy a sweet tooth. Their cold brew was also quite good. Will absolutely be returning for more Grafton goodness.

Yelp
A decent place to meet up with friends though it gets way too loud inside. The bar appetizers were decent. The artichoke spinach dip was nice, flavorful, rich. Unfortunately the accompanying pita chips were kind of burnt! There was a dish with olive appetizer as well with cheese. The olives were not particularly flavorful; the peanut brittle was fairly nice. The fried chicken wings were decent.

Yelp
DON'T MISS GRAFTON STREET IN CAMBRIDGE. Dipped into the egg yolk before the photo because I couldn't let the camera eat first. Paul & team have made our dining experience wonderful. Very clean. Excellent food. Excellent service. The right amount of conversation & interaction. Warm cozy fireplace and couches if. Looking for the positive New England/Harvard vibe, look no further than here.

Yelp
Food was just ok. Felt the burger was kind of bland with no distinct flavor. Fries were well done.

Yelp
Easy reservation on a Friday night was the primary reason to pick this place but I'm glad we did. Great mussels to start, and then delish burger properly cooked for both the MW and MR ordered. Nice to offer half fries/half greens for those of us who can't figure out whether it's a salad or fries that's gonna work with that burger tonight. The chicken Cesar salad was basic but fine. The highlight for me was the Mexican Chocolate Torte for dessert - a dense not too sweet crust with a rich, thick chocolate center and some fresh whipped cream on top. Mmm hmm, yes please. We also had good service and a lovely little booth, very nice overall.
google avatar

Yelp
Great dinner! Love the Dine Out Boston concept to try a few things off the menu. I sat at a half outside, half inside high top which I really enjoyed. The steak was paired with a whole pile of fresh garnishes - love dishes like that so that I can pair different combos together
google avatar

Bailee P.

Yelp
I was so excited to come here and try it and it was very disappointing in the food area. I think brunch is hard to do and if you can't do it sometimes it's better to leave it off the menu! My eggs Benny had sausage and it tasted like it had been microwaved for too long and was so dry and void of flavor. I had to take it off to finish my breakfast. My boyfriend had the steak and eggs and the steak just wasn't good at all. The sauce all over it was not the right fit for the dish. The small plates we got were good but everything was cold! The only thing that came out warm was the chicken and waffles. Really unfortunate because I wanted to love this place.
google avatar

Yelp
We randomly walked in while visiting campus and now I want to go back before we leave town. Come and see Paul and Dan. Paul is a hoot and Dan is a fusion master. Bannana Jameson is amazing! Love the atmosphere and staff. Perfect!

Yelp
Service and Ambience was awesome. Best bartender ever. We had a beer and mimosas at the bar.

Dave S.

Yelp
If I could give more stars, I would. Had a group of 20 and called the day of. To say that the host April was helpful, would be an understatement. She set us up in the back room with the fireplace, had the chef shuck some extra oysters for our group, and everyone took great care of us. The food was great as well. Wings, tuna crudo, calamari, meatballs - all fantastic.
google avatar

Marni M.

Yelp
Came here for some drinks on a Thursday night to find them already half full. We ordered some beers, martinis and cosmos all of which did the job. The waitresses were nice but there were gaps in time which they would be able to take another order. Overall we had a good experience and I would come again. It was a chill pub vibe with various music being played. I can see myself easily passing hours in this bar, I recommend!

Madison R.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I go here for drinks and apps all the time. Staff is very friendly and the food is consistently good. I recommend the Grafton burger and spinach dip. To top it off the atmosphere is very cool.

Yelp
Love this place for happy hour oysters, cocktails and brunch - can't really go wrong with what you order

Lauren Q.

Yelp
$78 -Bend and Snap:VERY Weak, mostly ice, and not completely filled. Less than impressed. The apps and drinks were the same quality as a chain restaurant. At one point, staff were clearing a table next to us and gossiping about a fellow employee. The gossiping staff was so loud that we had raise our voices so, the waitress could hear our order. Needless to say, management was nowhere to be found. For an establishment to claim high end Gastropub and the outrageous pricing that it has, I would assume drinks would be strong, and staff would be professional. However, that does not seem to be the case for this restaurant.

Yelp
After a visiting Cambridge Croquet this morning we headed down t he river to watch the annual Regatta races. We stopped by Grafton for brunch and was extremely pleased with our meals. The juice was fresh and service was quick and attentive. We'll be coming back again.

Yelp
Very cute pub we stopped at for a bite and a drink. Great atmosphere. Great music. Funny bartender. Friendly. Good food. I had wings that were supposed to be smoked but didn't taste smoked however they were good. Hubby had the spicy chicken sandwich and it was good and spicy for certain. Had a mimosa and a Bloody Mary because it was brunch apparently until 5 when they switch to the dinner menu. Overall nice place to pop in and take a load off. The bar seats were extremely comfortable too.

Yelp
With limited options on Thanksgiving we chose The Grafton Street Pub. Man, were we pleasantly surprised. Walking in we were greeted immediately with smiles. Everyone was happy, despite being a holiday and having to work. Our server, Bella, was so friendly and helpful. Paul was exceptional, he brought treats for the kids, made us feel so welcome. It was very nice. The food was very good. Wife had the salad with salmon, son had fish and chips and my daughter and myself had the Spicy fried chicken sandwich. All were delicious! I'd highly recommend this family friendly pub. You won't regret it! Thanks again Paul, you're amazing!

Yelp
Definitely didn't need reservations when we went. Food was good. Lots of variety in places to sit (outside, parlor, den, bar, etc).

Yelp
Nothing about this place was particularly inspiring. I got the French onion soup, which tasted a bit strong for me. It was way too salty. Also shared some appetizers with the group, and I didn't particularly like those either.

Yelp
Underground brunch spot in the square. Variety of options from small to large plates and offers 20$ pitcher of mimosas. Enjoyable

Yelp
I used to eat at Grafton Street all the time when it was located on Bow St. We went for dinner and the maitre d' was rude. Despite there being a lot of empty tables, she first seated us at a high table, and then a corner table with so little space there were no chairs at the table - just the corner booth because the other tables were so close. I finally had to tell her that we wanted a regular table where we could face one another (like the many tables we had walked past). The burger was laughable. It was served on an English toast - not the sandwich size - but the small size, it cost $16, and didn't even come with a side of fries. I really want to post my photo of it on Yelp because the burger looks ridiculously small on the plate it's on. The chicken sandwich was similar. Also, both the burger and chicken sandwich was really, really oversalted. The side of fries that we ordered tasted ok but there was very little. The brussels sprouts side was a decent serving but undercooked and hard, not carmelized at all. This was a major disappointment after the long wait for this restaurant to open up again after the pandemic.

Yelp
The $1 oysters here hit home runs!! So delicious, every oyster we had was so sweet and fresh, such great quality! The only cons was that we didnt get to pick the type of oysters, but whatever, it was DELICIOUS!! I think the deal is everyday except sun/mon, from 5pm-7pm. Don't quote me, but call first and check! Super worth it if in cambridge and craving some high quality oysters with some beer. YUM!

Yelp
Less than impressed with this establishment. I have never set foot in it and now never will. I called ahead of my wife's birthday reservation last night to order and pay for a Bend and Snap for the table as a surprise. The female staff member who took my order was extremely friendly and very helpful. The drink came out as ordered, though the general consensus was it was very weak for $75. Then the waitress came out stating my wife needed to have me call back as they had lost my card info to pay for the drink. This request was made several times throughout the evening, by direction of the manager who never found the time to visit the table and address it in person. Not only was the staff incapable of fulfilling my very pedestrian request, but my card info is floating around somewhere at this establishment, as I had wasted my time and effort relaying it to a staff member earlier in the evening. For a managerial staff to handle a situation like this by proxy with a party spending north of $200 is outrageous and not indicative of a well run restaurant. Expected a better experience from a place that touts itself as a stylish gastropub with upscale food and drink.

Yelp
We decided to go here on a double date. The ambiance was very cozy as they still had their Christmas decor up. We were seated in a room with a fire place right next to us so it was really quaint. We decided to pass on the drinks, although their cocktail selection did look good! We ordered the calamari which was more like a ceviche (aka not fried) and the chickpea fritters. The fritters were a little dry but they still tasted decent. I ordered the half chicken which was good but also pretty dry. It was pretty large too and I could not finish it. My boyfriend ordered the beef pie which he really really enjoyed. The service was good and the waitstaff was very friendly. Also, if you're looking for parking, they validate Tuesday through Thursday on the Harvard Square Parking Garage after 5 pm!

Yelp
So i am in Boston visiting this wonderful city that I love so much. After a long day walking I decided to stop by Harvard Square and found this restaurant. At first glance everything looked fine, until my wife and I went inside to order. Service: the waitress kept us waiting for 10 min before coming to our table. Now mind you I would understand if the restaurant was busy- but it was not. She did not apologize but came to get our order, very nonchalant and indifferent about keeping us waiting. Unacceptable. The food: I ordered fish and Chips. It was a big portion which I couldn't finish but the fish had no taste, no seasoning, it was just meh! Ambiance: it was ok. American pub bar grill atmosphere. Cleanliness: I did not get to really evaluate and check thoroughly. It was ok at first glance. Verdict: I will go somewhere else for Mehhh food next time, I'll probably get better service for my money.
