My wife and I are new to the area. We thought to check this local seafood spot out and ended up getting two pounds of shrimp. They rang us up and asked if I wanted them to steam the shrimp we purchased for $3 a lb. In my head, I figured it was convenient and they probably could do a better job than I could but that was an awfully wrong assumption. We got to our house which was about an 8 minute drive and opened it up to extremely overcooked shrimp. It was probably my fault for not checking before we left the store and maybe the steam from when they steamed the shrimp kept cooking them. Overall the seafood in the market looked good, I would suggest if you don’t want overcooked seafood to cook it yourself.

Google
Crab Cakes (broiled AND fried were absolutely delicious (just watch for the few small shell pieces 😉)!!! The She Crab soup and scallops were amazing as well! McKenzie provided excellent service!!!! Overall, worth it!

We came near closing time and was accomodated and quickly given our take out order by the gracious cashier.. Thanks.. Fresh seafood are available also.. Maybe next time.

Google
First time here, got a fried softshell crab sandwhich with mac n cheese and some hush puppies. Crab was great, mac n cheese was basic but solid, and them hushpuppies were CERTIFIED bomb. Also the fries are FIRE, perfectly crispy and seasoned well. Will be coming back to try more!!

We drove from Connecticut to visit this fish market. This place is off the hook. This place is special, one of the staff workers named "Jac" she was super awesome and very friendly. Make this a stop on your list when you visit Virginia. My personal vote for the best seafood restaurant/shop in Hampton. Also purchase a T-shirt to take back to your town or state. The prices are the best and being from New England we only buy the freshest seafood. The staff is super friendly and very knowledgeable about their products. Also note if you buy, they will fry!

Google
This place has been here for years. it's not quite like it used to be, but what is. the food for the dine-in is cooked to order so it's hot and serve relatively quickly. the seafood market has a large variety of local and other Seafood available. of course blue crabs are available by The Bushel as well.

Google
I'm not sure about the seafood because I was a little late to get things steamed but their staff was amazing. I have three kids and we are from Georgia. We are here visiting family. One of the employee's let my 5 year old touch the crabs and had conversation with all 3 of my kids. Hospitality goes a long way! Great employee's. I plan to go back for some steamed shrimp 🍤 😋

Yelp
"Old town favorite" if you grew up in Hampton you know about this place aka Phillips for the not so young!

Yelp
Well we came back with family twice and they both liked it here! You can't beat the prices and quality of food on the restaurant side. The soft shell crab and fried shrimp are big hits. It's slightly muggy inside but the giant fans help keep it cool. But I wish they would fix their soda and tea machines. There's always a problem with them (no carbonation, weird taste, out of order, etc). The seafood side always has plenty of options for fresh catch.

Yelp
Always first class, fresh seafood. Got steamed crabs for the hubby's birthday and they were outstanding!

Yelp
Freshest seafood in town. Anything you want they have and always enough staff to handle the crowd

Yelp
The best thing about the shrimp po-boy is the young lady who I spoke with on the phone when I called to find out why I was served 6 shrimp with brown lettuce on a dry bun. The presentation was terrible. I didn't even want to eat it after opening the container So disappointed as my co-worker said the food here is awesome.

Yelp
Horrible 12/24/2020 LAST TIME COMING HERE! They are extremely expensive. Some of the frozen food is not properly wrapped which causes freezer burn. The owner says hard shell seafood does not get freezer burn...lol With the exception of a few employees, customer service is basic at best. The owner comes off as rude and arrogant when you call to say something was wrong. Selling the same live lobster that you can get at Food Lion for $14.99. They are selling for $18.99. Sitting out on a table, not in a lobster tank! Then they had the same lobster tails that they had in the freezer for years thawing out in the lobby area on a table on sale for $18. 6 HEALTH VIOLATIONS IN LESS THEN 10 MIN. The seafood in the center leaks on the floor. Don't wear sandals. Pretty sure that's a health violation. Along with the OWNER NOT WEARING A MASK! Merry Xmas!

Yelp
Fried snapper dinner was the worse ever. Thank goodness I broke it open to look inside instead of biting it because The rank smell stopped me from eating it. Old, brown and very fishy smelling. Probably a parasite. This place should not be open for business. The community deserves better. Collards still had hard stock stems attached. Simply disgusting.

Yelp
This is a review update, going from a 1 star to a 4! I haven't been here in about two years and was pleasantly surprised! We purchased: 1. Whole Red Snapper; ok. 2. Whole Rockfish; very good! 3. Fresh Red Crabs; yum, and only $5.99ib.!!! 4. Frozen Crab Cakes; hands down, THEE best crab cake I've ever had! Guess it depends on what you order. ;^) Oh yeah, and staff is super friendly.

Yelp
Visiting the area, I stumbled upon this gem. I'm a lover of all things seafood and it was so close to my hotel I thought I would give it a try. Don't be fooled by the outside appearance, the food here is good. You can enter the restaurant side or the side to order fresh seafood therefore the seafood/fishy smell hit you as you opened the door. I ordered for a group so we shared the Cajun catfish fillets, scallops, oysters, shrimp, and broiled lump crab meat. We definitely were not disappointed. The seafood was fresh and fried perfectly. The service was good and pretty quick for the amount of food ordered. Prices were very reasonable. The only flaw were the sides. We ordered collard greens, slaw, potato salad, fries, and Mac and cheese. All were pretty bland. But hands down the seafood is worth the trip!! Don't forget to try their house special boom boom sauce.

Yelp
Came here for the first time today, It was somewhat busy but not as bad as I'd expected for a holiday weekend, they had fresh selections of EVERYTHING, like really everything you could be looking for they had here fresh, frozen, fried, etc etc. It wasn't too clear on the order/shopping procedures so I went over to bag up my own crabs after seeing other patrons walk around with paper bags (the big brown kind for crabs) a guy ran over to help me and let me know that they do that for you lol, they were kind of busy so its not a big deal, apparently you're supposed to stand by the crabs and they'll come over...I found this out much later. My whole experience took about 30 minutes from the time I drove up till the time I drove off. The crabs I ordered were mostly on par with the size I requested, they have titan crabs which is supposedly a size up from jumbo, they were sold out when I got here but ive never seen/heard of anything beyond jumbo locally so I'll definitely have to come back to check them out. While waiting I noticed that they had plenty of fry batters, condiments and seafood utensils also which its great for saving an extra trip to the grocery store on the way home. Other customers who hadn't been here before and I chatted back and forth, it was pretty refreshing how kind and open patrons and the staffers were, normally people are to themselves and workers seem to not want to be there (not at this place but just in general) The only con I had during this visit was I was charged for something extra and I nor the cashier caught it, I ordered crabs and 4 condiments but I was charged for 5, the cashier was being very friendly and chatting with a coworker ( who helped me earlier) so I feel that it was just an oversight and won't take it in a bad way, I like that this place is close to a friends place that I visit somewhat often, I'll be back soon...and much earlier to get a look at those titan crabs!

Yelp
The steamed crabs are amazing!! My family has been getting them from here for years. The one place in the area where they are consistently good. Today I ate on the restaurant side. I chose the pick 3 option: popcorn shrimp (get more than jumbo shrimp), catfish (one piece is two apparently), and 2 soft shell crabs. It comes with two sides: I chose mac (not the best) and collards (from the can). The meats were good but the popcorn shrimp tasted like what you'd find in the freezer aisle in the grocery store. Soft shells and catfish were good. 23.83 was total. If there was more of the sides it could feed a house of 3. I'll prob stick to the market side. The restuarant was ok. 3 stars because of the organization with being rang up (woman walked away 3 times before taking my money) and was quoted a different amount in person than on the phone when I placed the order. It's a busy spot but still all over the place

Yelp
This place is tucked away in Hampton. It's on a busy street and can easily be passed by if you don't know exactly where it is. There isn't much parking. It's divided into a market and the other side is a restaurant. Once I walked inside the market I was greeted and assisted right away. There were several customers inside. I ordered a dozen steamed blue crabs from the market. Their large crabs are overpriced in my opinion. But still worth it. I had to wait about 30 minutes. There's no seating on the market side so I sat in the restaurant. It's like a mom and pop restaurant. It's small but has a TV inside. I got my crabs to go. I must say these are the best steamed crabs I've ever had in Hampton Roads. They tasted very fresh. I'll definitely come here again.

Yelp
This place, oh my Lort! Driving by it looks like you are a very unsafe place but believe me you want to take your chances, lol! When you open the door you are greet by the freshest smell of seafood! They offer the best broiled oysters and Cajun catfish. Mixed with alittle cocktail and horseradish sauce..yummy! We have visited twice in 24 hrs, the kept secret!

Yelp
Been coming here for years with my family for fresh seafood! Excellent customer service and helpful staff!!

Yelp
Great family, good prices, and wonderful seafood. The Grahams know seafood, especially crabmeat. There are very few seafood markets that sell local seafood, especially crabmeat with blue crabs from Virginia. I made the trip from Richmond this weekend for their sale. I bought jumbo lump, blended backfin, and NC shrimp. My husband made crab cakes tonight that were delish thanks to Graham & Rollin's fresh picked crabmeat. Tomorrow night shrimp!
google avatar

Charlene R.

Yelp
The food was freshly cooked and it was fresh seafood one problem that I did see when you go in make sure you ask a lot of questions, there was one section fresh seafood the other section was there a restaurant if you pick the type of seafood you want and then have them cook it there an additional price. 4 Scallops one small piece of conch three pieces of small fish $21 price is too high next time I know go to the restaurant unless I'm going to cook my seafood in my home. After sitting down eating the the fish and the scallops it looks really good but there was no seasoning whatsoever one and a half star and this is only what they cook for me the fish and the scallops but other than that the place is clean the fish or seafood was fresh
google avatar

Richard G.

Yelp
Came here for the first and last time let's start with the plus it was clean and organized and the prices are fair with the market the fried shrimp and hush puppy's are out of this world but the white fish was Soggy and fried with the skin on and the major let down the crab cake it was a under cooked greasy mess but let's face it every thing can't be a winner when you fry it all
google avatar

Yelp
Yes, it is a hole in the wall, or on the side of the road, but what a find. From the first time I ever went until now. I'm still ready to go again and have an oyster po' boy, or soft-shell crab, of fish platter. OK I'm hungry now so hope to find my way back soon. Sadly, I'm just now away from Tidewater, Va around the world in Bangkok. But, when I get back to Sweet Virginia Breeze, I will be at the Hampton Seafood Market again.

Yelp
I visited Hampton and luckily my friend found this place. I tasted the Cajun catfish and fell in love! One of the best dishes there!! This place had a real quaint vibe. The place you can definitely load up the fam bs visit!

Yelp
Went here for a friends military farewell. One of my close friend, sorority sisters and college roommate is moving for military relocation and she wanted seafood before she left. This was my first time here and it was a great experience. Customer service was good and the food was even better. Told my sister about it and she's going to come into town and check it out!

Yelp
This is as good as it gets here in Hampton Virginia. AWESOME, AWESOME FRESH SEAFOOD! They have every thing from Grouper, to Whiting, to crocker, North Carolina Shrimp you name it they have it and it as FRESH as the day is long! The prices are AMAZING, the staff is friendly and ready to help. If you don't want to take it home and cook yourself you can sit in their dinning room and they will cook it up for you. Out of 5 stars I give them 10 if I could. Got a buschel of mid-size female craps for $55 dollars for a party and there were still plenty left. Everyone just loved it and took some home. I won't buy seafood any other place in the city. If you are ever in Hampton you MUST stop by and get some of this fresh seafood.

Yelp
My go to spot for a Cajun catfish sandwich . Trying something different this time (croaker dinner with macaroni and cheese and collards) but I'm sure I won't be disappointed. The food is normally really good. Service is .... blah. I believe a girl named Tyler took my order .... well she stared at me until I asked her if I could place an order ... weird interaction ...
google avatar

Valerie W.

Yelp
We love fresh fish! Hard to find you can find fresh seafood but a good variety of fish is hard to find. This place has it and the specials are really fabulous a sandwich Generous and a drink depending on the fish starts at $4.99 hard to be a $5 meal and it is hot and good! Another go to restaurant that doesn't disappoint,

Yelp
This is an excellent place to find seafood! Either to cook at home or have it cooked there. Excellent service and scrumptiously delicious food. We are from Ohio on vacation in Hampton, VA and stopped in to get something to eat. When we come for future vacations they will always have our business.

Yelp
Best fresh seafood in the area I haven't tried the restaurant yet but plan on doing it soon Very friendly staff . prices are pretty much what i expect to see Fresh seafood is not cheap One of the few places i can get fresh mussels in Hampton Every thing i have bought there is top quality .
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent fresh seafood! When we are in town, its the first place we stop for dinner!

Yelp
This is the retail seafood market for the Hampton crab wholesaler Graham and Rollins. Hampton Seafood always has a complete selection of fresh crab and processed crab products like crab cakes and balls, and usually a pretty good supply of locally-caught fresh fish, and North Carolina-sourced shrimp. Prices are a little high when compared to Virginia Beach markets, but Hampton Seafood is the only fresh fish market in this part of the Peninsula. The small restaurant in the market serves basic seafood selections found everywhere in Tidewater, and doesn't seem to take advantage of its seafood being fresher than other restaurants by preparing their offerings un-fried, or with a little imagination. Sides are all vendor-sourced, but the rolls seem to be fresh-baked on site. So maybe 4 stars for the market, slightly less than 3 stars for the restaurant. With a little work and attention, I think Graham and Rollins could have a really great little restaurant in this spot.
google avatar

Cee C.

Yelp
This used to be one of my favorite seafood spots. It has changed owners a few times and kept the taste consistency by keeping the original cooks, two old ladies that never left you disappointed. Now that the cooks have changed, the croakers are bland and the hushpuppies were hard and inedible.
google avatar

Curtis W.

Yelp
Seafood was very fresh. Cant wait to try the Alligator Sausage. 14.99 for a platter and 6 bucks for the sausage. That what I called great meal.
google avatar

Yelp
To be continued.....Lobster & crab cakes make U slap Ur Nana.....Will always return...Best lobster crab cakes ever...

Yelp
Walked in the restaurant a few minutes before closing but you would never know the staff was very friendly and helpful and they were even went in the back and found fried clams for me. Liz was a sweetheart service with a smile locked all the doors and told us to stay as long as we want it. Will return again and again
google avatar

Yelp
Great food! It's like a hidden gem right outside of Langley AFB. The atmosphere isn't the best(duh is a seafood market) but the food was good and reasonably priced. I would prefer a little more juice but would definitely eat here again.
google avatar

Tiffany P.

Yelp
I'm submitting this on behalf of my friend, we are both foodies, and he told me to NEVER come here, 1 piece of catfish and 4 shrimp was $17, for lunch!!! Where's the rest of the food??? Ruined his day...a scam is what they did with food portion!
google avatar

Terry B.

Yelp
Don't let appearance fool you! We were looking for one of those local favorite places that serves great seafood, a mom and pop kinda place. This was perfect! People were coming and going like crazy on the "market" side, which explains the nearly empty parking lot; virtually no waiting! The food was prepared to perfection; and without frills! Kinda like the barbecue places that serve food on butcher paper in Texas. This place was clean and the staff were friendly!! Highly recommended!!
google avatar

Freddy M.

Yelp
You get what you pay for here and then some top-notch quality seafood I always stop by when I'm rolling through Hampton even if I'm on the interstate I get off to hit this place. Always good great value they must go to place for seafood.
google avatar

Yelp
Good evening folks of hamptonRoads so I'm just leaving Hampton seafood I got there at 6:42pm and online says they don't close till 8pm when I got there Manager stated that they were close in in 20 minutes tonight was a big inconvenience for me and my family they need update their hours of operation
google avatar

Sally T.

Yelp
Love this place. Customer service was amazing. They packed everything up nicely for my trip back home. Great selection of fresh fish and crabs. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Chris C.

Yelp
Hands down fishes Seafood around. Have there flounder and crab cakes. They also have a market where you can buy fresh fish crabs and most any other Seafood.
google avatar

Nate A.

Yelp
Ok this is a review that is positive and negative. The seafood market is great, the fish and crab prices and quality is pretty good. The restaurant food was mixed. I ordered the 2 piece combo, one whiting and one crab cake. The whiting was excellent, the crab not so much. It consisted of backfin and filler. A no no for crab cakes. If they spent time on this and used jumbo lump crab meat, people would be lined out of the door. They 3 stars for being nice and friendly.

C K.

Yelp
The seafood platters are always hot, fresh and plentiful and the business seems to be booming. However, I cant understand for the life of me why the owners don't invest a few dollars in fixing up the darn place. The dining area is uninviting; it's bare-bone basic with no ambiance whatsoever but the food is great so I keep going back.
google avatar

brad r.

Yelp
the market has a huge variety of fish, shellfish & crabs to choose from. Always fresh with good friendly service. The restaurant is very good for the prices. It's not fancy but a good value for what you get.
google avatar

Ina F.

Yelp
There are two sections to this market/restaurant. We wanted a dozen steamed large crabs to eat in the dining room and when we were ordering, we were told that only crabs that can be eaten in the dining room were "All you can eat" for a much higher price. We were willing to pay for the Large crabs. That wasn't the point. Then we asked if there were benches outside to eat the crabs we wanted and we were told no. So instead of making money on what the customer wanted and a few beers to go with the crabs, they lost money because we walked out. I don't understand the difference of their food when they also sell soft shell crabs in both places and fish filets. I would go back and get steamed crabs but choose what I want, what I want to pay and have to take them somewhere else to eat them.
google avatar

Susan C.

Yelp
BEST in Crabmeat, shrimp and fresh fish by FAR!! This place gets FRESH seafood every day and the customer service is friendly and attentive!! I LOVE the SHE-CRAB soup!! BEST I HAVE EVER HAD!! I always come here to share the delights of the ocean with my friends in the VA mountains in Strasburg. We make our own CRAB CAKES (Maryland style) and boil the shrimp (which are HUGE)! I have NEVER had a bad experience here!! If they had a 7 STAR rating, I would give it to them! ~ US NAVY VETERAN (20 yrs) retired

Yelp
After putting in a to-go order at 1 in the afternoon for myself and a friend from highschool we had nothing but rude treatment and "we're working on it" 50 minutes later our cold lunch comes out. Very disappointed in the service and the quality of food we got here. Will NOT be coming back.
google avatar

Clarence J.

Yelp
G&R sells outstanding fish in a bare bones, well-worn restaurant. (There's no need for it to be anything fancier!) The sides are okay, but the fish -- ohhhh, the fish -- is outstanding. There are a few sauces of varying flavors and spice levels, but the outstanding fish -- light and full of flavor, fried with a light batter that doesn't overpower the fish's flavor or texture -- can be enjoyed without sauce as easily as with it. The small market in the restaurant is also full of excellent, very fresh fish -- as well as shrimp and frozen crab cakes and lobster cakes -- at great prices. The staff is friendly and helpful. And did I mention that the fish is outstanding?!
google avatar

Michelle E.

Yelp
Little difficult to find since I am from out of town. But the service was good and the food was too. The prices were reasonable. Net time I am in Hampton, I will go back.

Judith C.

Yelp
Although the selection is quite extensive, the person behind the counter wasn't too nice. Shame.. because bad service will do it everytime even if the food is amazing. By the way, if anyone on here knows how to get a hold of seafood stuffing, please put it out there. I just moved to this area from New England and I'm patiently waiting to experience great seafood.
