"Bruno Loubet’s now-closed King’s Cross restaurant, notable here as the venue where chef Neil Campbell previously worked as head chef." - Adam Coghlan

Amazing is all I can say! The loaded fries were phenomenal, and I’m not a beer drinker but the cider was great. You can also play their provided games while at the table. What’s more to love? I would move in if possible, great place

We always make a point of visiting Grainstore every time we’re in Newcastle, and this was our fifth visit — it truly never disappoints. We dined here with family on New Year’s Day and booked ahead, which was a good idea as many tables were also reserved. We always order the steak, and it’s consistently excellent — generous portion sizes, cooked well and absolutely delicious. Service is friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is lively without feeling overwhelming. One of the standout features, especially when dining with family, is the games available on the tables. Having options like checkers, chess, Scrabble and snakes and ladders is such a great touch for entertaining kids or passing the time while waiting for food. If there was one small suggestion, it would be the option to order via a QR code from the table, as many pubs around Newcastle now offer this. That said, the line at the bar is never too long, so it’s really a minor point. Grainstore has become a staple for us — we genuinely don’t go to Newcastle without eating here. Highly recommended.

A great spot this end of Newcastle for friends or family. Food was reasonably varied and all high quality, and whilst not cheap it felt like decent value for money. Drinks were varied with a bunch of options on tap, and staff were super knowledgable on what was on offer. There was a decent kids menu, as well as highchairs and loads of games. It can get pretty busy, so I’d recommend booking a table.

Popped in for lunch on a busy Sunday and still scored a table (even got one on the stage which was a bit of fun). The drinks menu is huge, and the food menu had so many good options it was hard to choose. I went straight for the chicken wings - they’re famous for a reason - and got the trio of flavours. Generous portion, packed with flavour and absolutely hit the spot. Staff were friendly and welcoming despite the Sunday rush. Would happily go back and highly recommend Grain Store

Went twice we enjoyed it so much! We enjoy darker, richer beers and were happy to see the Mid Dark on tap. Delicious. Roasted veg salad was FABULOUS. Chicken Caesar also very good. French fries also stood out. Be aware that booths seem to be reserved! Call ahead. Seems like a very popular locals spot with pull tabs and games.

May have been a strategical decision to stay a 100m away from Grain Store or just pure luck 🤷🏻‍♂️ either way this would be home for me for the two nights I was staying in Newcastle 🥳 Awesome selection of independent breweries on over 20 taps with a great selection of beer styles. Managed to work my way through nearly each tap over my two nights in town, was impressed with my effort. Food was good too, fried chicken burger hit the spot on night one and then went for the trio of wings on night two. If you’re a lover of independently brewed beers then this is a must stop on your Newcastle itinerary!!

We had such a great experience at this pub. It reminded us of English pubs and it has great selections of beers as well of cocktails. The staff here is really FRIENDLY & HELPFUL! There are lots of board games to play as well. The food menu is quite impressive for a pub. Love everything about this pub and one of the best thing is it's super close to the Newcastle Light Rail line as well. We booked an Uber and it was only 2 minute wait. I saw young kids were at the pub so it's definitely a great place for people of all ages. Thank Grain Store team! It was a fabulous night for us.

Wow what a lovely place! Came for dinner and it was a really great meal. Serving sizes are very generous so make sure you’re hungry when you go. The wagyu steak was cooked to perfection and my son absolutely demolished his cheeseburger. I recommend the beer tasting paddle $17 for 5 beers tasters and you get to choose which beer you’d like. Definitely will be back. Make sure you make a booking if you go during peak times!
