Dining at Grampa's Pizzeria in Madison is an absolute treat! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a casual meal with family or friends. The pizzas are a standout, with a perfectly crispy crust, rich and flavorful sauce, and generous toppings that make every bite a delight. And don't miss out on their chocolate mousse – it's the best in town! Creamy, decadent, and the perfect way to end your meal. The friendly staff add to the overall wonderful dining experience, always welcoming you with a smile and providing top-notch service. Highly recommend Grampa's Pizzeria for a fantastic dining.

Solid pizza and other Italian dishes. My favorite was the beef carpaccio appetizer. The date night deal is such a steal and the pizzas are very fresh.

Google
Our new favorite spot in Madison for a good kick of spice from the octopus and Calabrian chiles on the arugula ricotta pizza. The pizza is light and thin. We also enjoyed the beef carpaccio. But for me, the highlight was the ginger cake. Freshly baked (warm on the inside) with whipped cream and pistachios. Flavors are spot on, not too sweet, not too spicy, just right. We also had the risotto which was delicious and comforting - also perfectly cooked al dente.

I loved the atmosphere ,food and the servers and waiters were all very nice this was a very relaxing vibe and the pizza was so good and light. I love a pizza that doesn’t leave me feeling bloated and this was perfect. The dessert was so rich and yummy we definitely will be back.

Last week I had friends from out of town visiting Madison and I suggested we go to my favorite local pizza place : Grampa’s . Cannot believe I had not left a review as I have been coming here for years and they have been my go to take out pizza place . I have brought friends , family and business colleagues here . This is not your traditional pizza place . It is not thick crust , it’s not deep dish and it’s not Neapolitan . All of which I enjoy , but this place is unique . Not only is the crust thin but the toppings are specially crafted to create a memorable combination of flavors . From their menu I have had every pizza flavor . Each topping has been selected and all go so well together . Seasonally (depending on what’s in season) they offer a unique flavor , like summer corn or fall turnip . Tonight we chose Jambroni which I always add their chicken sausage and the Barbarini with extra watercress on top . Best part about the offering here is the availability of gluten free crust on the menu . When dining in the staff is exceptionally friendly and know all about the flavor combinations. When doing take out the service is fast and I have never experienced any delay . On occasion they have a shortbread rosemary butter cookie which is given at the end of the meal and it’s so tasty . Five stars to this institution of specialty non traditional pizza in Madison .

We went to Grampa's pizza and sat outside. The staff were very nice, helpful and attentive. Unfortunately the pizza was below average. It was exceptionally greasy and the thin crust, which I would have expected to be a bit crispy, was rather soggy. The flavor, once you got past the layer of oil on the surface, was pretty good. The shortbread cookies that come with the bill were a nice touch, though. If the pizza had not been saturated with grease it would have easily been a 4 star experience. Maybe other pizzas there are less greasy.

Google
All food was very good. Atmosphere was cozy. Only issue was our waitress brought out the wrong appetizer and when we brought it up to her she asked if that appetizer was something we were really excited to try and if we’d like her to bring it out for us. It made us feel like it was our fault, I feel as though she should have just apologized and been like “I’ll get that out for you right away.” She also charged us for the appetizer that she mistakenly gave to us (it was $18) and seemed upset when we asked for it to be taken off the bill. I would return though the food was really good!

Google
This is a very cute, little restaurant which was perfect for date night. The interior isn’t very large, but they also had outdoor seating. I ordered the Goomba pizza and it was so delicious. It was a perfect combination of garlic, mushrooms, and white sauce. They cooked it perfectly where it had crust but was still soft. I will mention they overcooked my boyfriend’s pizza, but my pizza was amazing. I would come back again and I recommend making a reservation since there isn’t a ton of seating.

Yelp
You can always count on Grampa's Pizza for amazing food, cozy space, and an enjoyable night out. We went out for dinner with friends and started with a bottle of wine (excellent wine list) and then had pizzas for dinner. They have both white and red sauce pizza. My favorite is peperoni and Brassacre. The bassacre is a white sauce pizza with brussel sprouts and bacon and it's SO GOOD! The staff is very friendly and helpful. We decided on 3 pizzas for 4 people and took some home. They have a cozy space and a cute outdoor area. Unfortunately it was raining so we couldn't sit outside. We were towards the back by their big windows that have a view of their garden. Lovely view! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Amazing thin crust pizza, fresh ingredients and great flavor combinations. Staff were very friendly & attentive. Loved the decor with old time pics of the restaurant. Cute outdoor seating too! Definitely will return again soon!

Yelp
This was the perfect spot to come for an anniversary dinner. We can a little before 5 on a Saturday and were lucky to be able to sit at the bar. I highly suggest making a reservation on the weekend, especially if the weather isn't great and outdoor seating isn't an option. I always like sitting at the bar, so this was a great option for us. Our waitress was quick to come over and get our order and explain some of the menu items that we didn't know. We ended up ordering a couple small plates, pork confit and shishito peppers, the brassacre pizza, and the sticky ginger cake for the dessert. The pork confit was a favorite. The chimichurri was a perfect complement to the pork and the giardinara was also quite tasty. The shishitos were nicely charred and about every 4th one had a good kick of spice to it. The brassacre pizza is always a favorite with the brussels sprouts and pork. I ended up using some of the stone ground mustard from the pork confit to top off the pizza and it made it even better. The only difficulty with the pizza is that the center pieces can be tricky to pick up. Definitely need a fork. The sticky ginger cake was the perfect way to finish a meal. Very good value for the portion size and definitely enough to feed 2 or 3 people. There was plenty of cream on top and the pistachio provided a nice crunch to go along with the cake. Shockingly not super sticky, but very flavorful.

Yelp
Went for dinner last night. It was a Monday evening and crowded was thin. Nevertheless I called ahead to book a table and was seated by the window. Small cute place. My dining mate had an amber ale and I had the sweet red wine to kick off our dinner. The wine was good. It tasted more like sprite mixed with red wine - sweet and sparkling. We ordered the pork confit for appetizer. Served in a small iron skillet, the pork was very in tender and delicious. It is not unlike pulled pork except you do the pulling apart. Served with slices of bread, brown mustard sauce and pickles peppers. Watch out for the peppers. They are spicy! We also shared a beet salad which was also wonderful. It is probably one of the better beet salad I've had. A mixed of red and orange beets with some greens. Lovely to look at and tasty. For the main dish we shared a Jabroni pizza with Italian sausage. I love the thin crust since I'm on a low carb diet. The cut up basil leaves were fresh and not baked or burnt. The chili flakes weren't distributed evenly so some parts were spicy and some weren't. It was delicious still. I would love this more if the pesto wasn't baked because it appears more brown/black instead of fresh green. I would still recommend this place for dinner.

Yelp
If you're a thin crust, pizza person, this is the spot for you! They have a gorgeous outdoor seating area, but also a good number of tables inside. They have quite a few options on the menu for pizzas that they make, but you can also customize them to be what you want. I found white sauce, red sauce, and a pesto pizza. The food was delicious, as with thin crust, there can definitely be times or something gets a little bit overdone, but it was yummy nonetheless. We tried the risotto as an appetizer, it's some of the best risotto I've ever had. The staff was friendly, I went with one friend and between the two of us we got two pizzas and one risotto. both of us had leftover pizza to bring home.
google avatar

Sho R.

Yelp
I took out dinner from here on a week day. Jabroni pizza was my item. The pizza had good flavor. It was a thin crust pizza. I tried to reheat in the oven at 450 for 3 minutes and burnt a little bit. May be I should have done it at 350. Sticky ginger cake was a good dessert.

Yelp
Crazy I didn't get pictures of the pizza! Had the brassacre (Brussel sprouts pie, really really good) the barberini (didnt love as much as brassacre, but added sausage and it was good). Pizza is light, crispy, really tasty. Market salad was excellent, and cheese board was pretty good. So pretty inside, really small and intimate. Had really mixed service experiences. Kind of inattentive staff both times I've gone, not always able to answer food questions, and seemed a little stretched thin sometimes and less than friendly. As a former sous, I get things get dicey sometimes, so it goes. Great food though.

Yelp
Ordered takeout and had the beet salad, Brassacre pizza, and the chocolate mousse dessert. For $27 for a personal pizza, I just expected more. I wasn't a fan of the crust, and I like thin crust but this one missed the mark for me. The taste for everything was just okay. I wouldn't order from here again or recommend it.

Yelp
Some of the best pizza I've had in my life, hands down. Chefs in the kitchen on 11/09/2024 were on fire! Give them a raise. Our waiter, Monney, kept the delicious food coming. Give him a raise too. We ordered the roasted veggies, market salad, and Brassacre, Goomba, and Peperoni pies. Topped it off with sticky ginger cake. Bravo! I will recommend to all the pizza lovers I know.

Yelp
Overall this is exactly what i needed. Great pizza and wine spot that makes for a great date spot. Servers were very friendly, food did take some extra time but was well worth it. They served a very cracker like crust which I liked.

Yelp
This one is for the ladies! I know you love stuffing your face as much as I do Grandpas pizza is the best place to do it. As soon as you walk in the dank cheesy goodness smacks you in the face like your ex boyfriends bad cologne. But in a good way...This place has all the comfort with none of the drama The pies are loaded, the crust is crisp to perfection the staff is amazing and never forgets to add some extra napkins. I highly I highly recommend it The vibe is nice. It's quaint very family friendly and you don't have to worry about people trying to ruin your night.

Yelp
super cute pizza restaurant in a literal home! it's a small cozy place with a unique menu. the server was soo with me tonight, she recommended the pork confit AND the goomba with bacon (unfortunately no ranch dipping but she also got me there). i loved that the pizza was thin crust but i do wish there was a dipping sauce bc the crust was a bit dry. the bacon was center cut and thick so it was heavy but tasty on the pizza. the app, pork confit, was sooo tender and juicy, very happy we went with this choice! we got a bottle of moscato to pair and that was also delicious. overall recommend this restaurant but would make a reservation bc it's a really small place
google avatar

Ron S.

Yelp
I really really wanted to give this place a better score. The ambiance and service were just fantastic. The pizza was just so-so. It wasn't even worth taking the leftovers. It was a combination of flavor imbalance as the bold flavors kicked the weak crust's ass. The prices were inflated for the value. Not bad, but not worth returning.
google avatar

Ellena K.

Yelp
Tuesday date night so fun! Also a really great deal. Of course the pizza is amazing. Cheeseboard was unique. Service was really fast and servers are so helpful and sweet. Will definitely back.

Yelp
Holy Balls! Thie best and I don't say that lightly. Like the holy grail of pizza and I can't believe it's been in my own backyard for 10 years and I never knew. Great job guys, thin crispy crust great service too. Thank you for putting out the best pizza ever

Shahid A.

Yelp
Excellent pies, our group loved this spot and the simplicity of the menu while delivering great taste. We wish there were cocktails but that's ok because you can go to gibs after or order your pizza from there. Service was great. I also appreciate that I can sub sausage for chicken sausage.
google avatar

Yelp
Love Grampa's and still one of my favorite thin crust/specialty pizzas anywhere. The thick cut bacon always hits the spot and cannot recommend adding the drizzle of honey enough. It's an absolute must and takes the pizza to a whole new level. Great creative pizza options here and also a cool place to sit down. If looking for a good specialty pizza, hit up Grampa's!

Yelp
Stopped in w/o reservations was seated outside , table's are very close together. Was given water & waited well over 20 minutes. for "any" service, end result we left. Dropped into Ian's pizza for a very tasty thin crust, i don't think we'll return to Grampa's in the near future. The vibe we got from there, Grampa's not for us.

Joshua D.

Yelp
Pizza is good. A little on the higher end of the price scale. Can get pretty busy if you go during peak hours. I prefer to take it and leave.

Yelp
I came here after having it recommended by a friend! I heard that Tuesdays have a great date night special and came here for a date with my fiance on a Tuesday. We got to the restaurant pretty early, around 4 pm and we were the first ones there (we had stupidly skipped lunch that day and were starving at 3 pm). We were seated pretty quickly and learned that the date night special included a salad or small plate, a pizza, dessert and bottle of either red or white wine of your choosing, for $55. We ordered the pork small plate that came with Giardiniera, toasted and sliced sourdough bread, and mustard seeds. This was filling and tasty! We then ordered the pepperoni pizza. Their pizza is pretty unique--more of a dense but thin pizza that I like a lot! We got the date cake for dessert and it was an interesting concept--I imagine date cakes a little more wet and moist (it's usually covered in some sort of syrup). This one is more dry and has a lot of whipped cream on top instead. I think I'll try the chocolate mousse next time to compare. I'd gladly come here for date nights on Tuesday whenever I'm feeling like going out for a nice dinner. P.S. They give complimentary shortbread cookies with the check that are DELICIOUS. It was a nice additional touch to the evening.

Yelp
I don't know who Grampa is, but he needs to learn how run a pizza place. Outdoor tables were comically small, price was high and my pizza tasted like a wet dog smells. Save yourself and don't eat the complimentary house cookies they tasted like I should have been paid to eat them. Service was good.
google avatar

Yelp
Grampa's is the perfect place for a date night! Other than the occasionally difficult parking situation, everything else is **chef's kiss**. To start, the staff are always very welcoming and engaging throughout the night. The ambiance for both indoor and outdoor seating are also fantastic -- intimate and slightly romantic. But the highlight is definitely the food! I love starting out my meals with their pork confit. The meat is so tender and pairs nicely with the mustard. It's somehow the perfect appetizer to their pizzas too. And after many visits, I can confidently declare Brassacre! and Goomba are my favorites - it's the perfect combination of a crunchy crust with wildly flavorful toppings. Just thinking about these pizzas is making me hungry and feel the need to place another order. I can't wait for my next trip to Grampa's, and hopefully, I'll finally leave enough room in my stomach to try one of their desserts... specifically the sticky ginger cake.

Yelp
My first time going through this cute neighborhood, Grampa's atmosphere was so cool, basically in a refurbished house like many of the restaurants and shops in this area. On a Wednesday night, we made reservations for three but this wasn't necessary for our day, both for indoor and outdoor seating. They have a 3 for $30 special, including an app, pizza, and dessert. We decided to supplement with an additional pizza for the three of us. The cheese board had a nice variety of items, including nuts and honey, and had excellent bread from Madison Sourdough. The main attraction is the pizza however. The Goomba was wildly delicious, with hearty, meaty cuts of mushrooms that provided an umami flavor that counterbalances the saltiness of the sauce. We also got the Barberini, which was unfortunately a little bland with none of the ingredients truly shining. The sticky ginger cake was a good size for three of us to share. It has a great exterior crust with a pleasing density and crumb.
google avatar

Yelp
You've gotta check out this lil spot on Willy Street!! The risotto was soooooo so tasty and the hint of vanilla bean is unique. The pizza pies are fantastic with a great crunchy thin crust. We opted to try both the desserts as well and the whipped cream on the sticky ginger cake was divine. Head next door to Gib's if you're in the mood for a refreshing drink.
google avatar

Yelp
Great food. We will stop again during our next trip to Madison. To be honest, I was a little tuned up and can't even remember what w e ordered, but I know it was great!
google avatar

Yelp
Had a knack for some pizza and Grandpa's was excellent! We were sat promptly and our waiter was there to welcome us. Very polite and informative. The paper menu didn't say anything about gluten free, unless I missed it. Our waiter did say anything pizza style can be put on the GF crust. There was very little in terms of leftovers. This was everyone's first time in and 3 of our 5 in the party live really close!! But we all said we would definitely return and definitely recommend to others!! Well to the establishment. Excellent food. Excellent service. Fun atmosphere. One of my favorites I have been to in a while!
google avatar

Caleb S.

Yelp
The PERFECT date spot... or dinner with a couple of friends.... or just come here alone and eat an entire pizza--I won't judge. Seriously though, this is a very charming and intimate space. The Finocchio pizza was sublime and paired well with my glass of red wine. I left full and happy! Check out the picture and trust me, it tastes as good as it looks!

Lacci H.

Yelp
Classic Pepperoni Pizza. $17.93. (Way too much for the quality) Tried this place because a review said it had crispy cheesy pizza. It was not very cheesy and it was definitely not crispy. It was only crispy on the outside, like they rushed making it and didn't cook it all the way through.I asked for a side of ranch to go with it when I ordered it. I was told when I picked it up (35 mins later) they didn't have ranch, no big deal. The pizza was not cut all the way through so I had to finish cutting it when I got home. I tried to eat some on the way home while it was fresh to get the full effect, it was really hard trying to tear it apart. It takes me 14 minutes to get home from there and it was cold by then. The customer service was good but the pizza was definitely disappointing. For that price and quality I wouldn't go back.
google avatar

Rebecca R.

Yelp
Let's get this out of the way; I love this place so much that I hosted out-of-towners here, the night before my wedding. I've never had a bad pizza or salad here. Here's my review. Great restaurants offer food that you crave. Here's what I crave from Grampa's. 1. Gluten free crust. Face it, you'll have a hard time deciding which pizza to order, so rder an extra pizza so you can try the GF crust. 2. The cake. The cake. The cake. Save room. Or take it home. 3. Table for one? Grampa's has a very sweet, cozy bar if you're dining alone, with competent, friendly-enough (not overly friendly) staff. Final fun fact. This place used to be Grampa's Gun Shop. The guy who owned it kept rifles in stock, in an old chest freezer. He was a total character, and I think he'd be proud that his legendary gun shop is now a legendary place to enjoy a night out. And fer cryin' out loud, have a nice before-dinner drink at that bar (house) next door. Same owners. Craft cocktails.

Yelp
This was my first time trying grandpa's pizza. I had gotten a gift card for $25 and was very excited to finally try this place. When you walk up, you can smell the pizza from down the street. I ordered the Brassacre which had brussels sprouts, thick cut bacon, mozzarella, garlic, and olive oil. I really liked this pizza because the crust was really thin and it was also very crispy. I do believe that the pizza is woodfired which is my favorite. I did also opt to add on sausage to my pizza, which was a great idea and flavorful. When I walked in the staff was very friendly and my total came to $25.32 and the manager was kind enough to waive the $.32 so I didn't have to get out my wallet. I'll be back and next I visit I would like to try the Goomba pizza
google avatar

Addison S.

Yelp
By far the best pizza place in Madison. The server was knowledgeable and helpful with picking out appetizers and pizza. The mozzarella is made fresh daily in their kitchen! I definitely will be returning.
google avatar

Mikaela L.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday night and was expecting to wait a long time but a table opened up and we got to sit outside. The pizza was really good. The outdoor seating was a little chilly but it was nice to be outside again after having to sit inside all Winter. The waitstaff was very attentive. They cut the pizza in squares just and FYI. Good pizza, good quality ingredients and a unique dessert.

James E.

Yelp
Amazing pizza and appetizers. Wonderful wait staff. Enjoyed the down to earth atmosphere and back yard garden.
google avatar

Breanna R.

Yelp
I like the selections for toppings - a smidge more upscale than your average pizza place. Tasted great. (Delivery guy delivered it cold, so that was a bit of a bummer - broil for 2 minutes in the oven to make it good as new.)
google avatar

Max M.

Yelp
Grampa's is my favorite pizza spot in Madison, Wisconsin. Their Brussel sprout pizza is to die for. I have gone to Grampa's probably 10 times now just for the Brussel sprout pizza! Their pizza offers the perfect crunch and flavor profile that is satisfying. If Grampa's ever needs an ambassador I will gladly accept!!
google avatar

Allen M.

Yelp
Grampa's is my favorite pizza spot in Madison by far. We ordered 3 different pizzas to share and there was more than enough food to go around for 4 people. The best pizza by far was the bacon and Brussels sprouts. At first thought, I thought that it wouldn't go well together but the flavors complimented each other so well. I will definitely come back here the next time I visit Madison.
google avatar

Erika D.

Yelp
Wow wow wow.... Found this place through yelp while looking for gluten free friendly places for my friends and I while visiting Madison. When I tell you this place was just perfect in every aspect. The inside was so cozy and cute, absolutely perfect for date night. They also have a couple tables outside for nice days. Also a huge, beautiful garden outback that they use for fresh ingredients. Aside from all that the pizza was so delicious!! Three of us killed 2 whole pizzas they were so yummy we couldn't help ourselves! Amazing place can't recommend enough!!!

Wendy J.

Yelp
Overall the food was good! The quality of the ingredients really came through and you could taste the freshness. 1. The roasted vegetables were delicious but I wish the aioli was more flavorful. The mushroom has chimichurri on them and it was the best bite. 2. The mushroom and goat cheese pate was yummy. It was different than meat pate and I liked it! I didn't really taste mushroom, mostly goat cheese but the bread was amazing. It has a nice crust but was still soft. 3. The pizza had a good flavor combo. I loved the thick cut bacon pieces but I wished there was more flavor. The pizza actually didn't have a base sauce so with was not as flavorful as I was hoping, and the toppings slid off. The crust was very thin and crunchy though! The server was so nice and gave some great recommendations. The owner actually held the door open and checked in at our table. The restaurant is super cute. It's dim and cozy. There are candles on every table. It's not too loud so it's perfect for a date night.

Yelp
A1 service and food! Was visiting from out of state and found this place when looking for another, glad we did.
google avatar

Yelp
Best pizza in Madison. Thin crust is perfection. Tuesday night "date night" is a great deal for a night out that includes a bottle of wine, pizza and desert.
google avatar

Steve L.

Yelp
Great, crispy, thin crust pizza. Unique topping and sauce combos. We had three pies at our table. Goomba, Basic, and Pinocchio. My pick was the Pinocchio with red sauce and sausage. Funny thing was I think I preferred the Goomba with white sauce and mushrooms. Dining room is non existent and eating outside in April with no heat lamps cost them a star. Wine selection was deep. Beer selection was ok.
google avatar

Sarah L.

Yelp
Had to check Grampa's off the Madison bucket list! Came for a fun dinner with a friend after a long workday. We each got a glass of wine - Pinot nouveau for me and Pinot Grigio for my friend. Tasty wine to accompany the pizza and good conversation! We split the Barberini and Puerco pizzas. The Barberini was covered in a big layer of arugula. I could have used a little less, but it offered a nice complement to the rich cheese and honey. I think I preferred the puerco - tender pork and really good cheese. The crust is thin and cracker-like. I think I prefer a Neapolitan but it was still very nice. They topped off dinner with a couple complimentary shortbread cookies. Tasty! I'm glad I made it here.

Yelp
Never been disappointed here. Although, it may be slightly overpriced for pizza. Unless they source their ingredients from narnia, which very well could be!

Yelp
Delicious thin crust pizza with unique selection of toppings. This has become one of my top 3 favorite pizza places in Madison! My partner and I shared the 3 courses for $30 takeout special and it was the perfect amount for two (we probably could have stuffed ourselves with more pizza it was so good, but definitely didn't need it!). You get a selection of one of the small plates or salads, a pizza and dessert. We had the beet salad which was a perfect blend of red and golden beets and pea shoots. They ingeniously placed the dressing on the bottom of the to go container to prevent the salad from getting soggy! Pizza as to be expected was the true star. We got the goomba- SO good!! Plenty of mushrooms and that garlic cream sauce really pulled it together. The thin, crunchy crust was perfect. The sticky ginger cake was okay- cake was dry; didn't get the "sticky" part of the name. Whipped cream on top was good but couldn't taste any of the lemon flavor. Overall would skip the dessert but can't wait to try more of their pizzas!

Yelp
I hate to say it, but as an East Coast transplant, I'm a little bit of a pizza snob. This is the only pizza in Madison I love! Creative combination of toppings, really well executed. Great portions, service, and atmosphere. For anyone craving thin crust, somewhat New York style artisan pizza, this the only place in Madison for you.
google avatar

Ryan W.

Yelp
THIS IS THE BEST PIZZA ON MADISON. Sorry to all the other pizza joints. The crust is crunchy and thin, perfectly cooked every time. I love pizza that isn't super heavy on the cheese and they nailed it! The sauces are delicious. The toppings are incredible. They come served on a wood board which is unique, you will love it. The pork confit is literally one of my favorite appetizers of my lifetime, put some mustard on the bread, then pork and peppers. It's simply amazing. Compliments to the chef! You're awesome! They do a different infused water everyday with lemons, limes, cucumbers, grapefruit and combinations of them. It's so refreshing! I used to come here when it was Grandpas gun shop so it's really cool to me being here and seeing it transformed to one of my favorite places. There even a couple GUNS on the wall! They have outside seating that is very nice and inside is romantic and dim lit with candles on each table. Great places for dates! There is only street parking so expect to have to find a spot, it's well worth it! GO. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED

Yelp
There's good pizza and then there's great pizza. Grampa's crushes great and goes to straight phenomenal! Not only is the place super chill, super comfortable but the food and service are second to none. Came here on a friend's suggestion and was floored. He said this was the second best pizza in Madison. This is a debatable fact because number one is oh so good too but two totally different styles of the good stuff. Either way I was in pizza heaven! We ordered two apps and three pies. The first app blew my mind. We had the dumplings which were in this rich broth with a nice smear of foie gras. The dumplings were a perfect way to start the meal. Four perfectly cooked dumplings that were tender juicy and full of flavor. I started to realize then and there Grampa's was not afraid to build flavor profiles wish the right spices and ingredients. Next up pizza 1, 2 and 3. The first was this week/months special. The sweet corn pizza. This was hands down my favorite despite its lack of protein. I was amazed and when I read it on the menu I knew we had to try it just because. No wrongs here only right! Pizza two and three were the staples of the house which would be the Pinocchio which was nice and spicy, literally some heat! The fennel sausage and chilies made it nom-nom good! Also had a milder but still packed with flavor and big chunks of bacon, Brassacare. This was another solid edition to our stellar line up of pies. Grampa's is a truly killer thin crust. It is crisp and holds up well for the selection of house favorites we had. I would come back again in a heartbeat and Madison overall always gets some love for the amazing food scene they supply. Grampa's thanks for a great evening and a great meal! We left stuffed!

Yelp
This has been my third time to Grampas and my wife's fourth time. My earlier experiences were great so I thought it would be perfect to go on my birthday (Mistake). It was odd that the last time my wife went she came home and said the staff were very rude and she didn't want to go back. I thought it might've been a busy night and we could give them another chance (wrong). We went towards the end of the night so it wasn't very busy. And I've never felt more ignored at a restaurant in my whole life, and we were seated at the bar?!? It took a while to get food, it's ok, it was the end of the dinner rush. But once we finished it took 15 minutes to get a box, but they didn't bring the check. I asked fifteen minutes later for the check. He brought the check. Then I put my card in the holder and pushed our dinnerware to the back to signify we were ready to leave. It took 30 minutes for them to check on us again and run my card. For the thirty minutes we watched two servers go back and forth texting on their phones and drinking wine over and over right in front of us. Take my advice, the food is amazing, but it's not worth it to spend 100 on pizza and terrible service. Try something else like Mickeys Tavern or anything on the square. I will not be returning to Grampas, but if they're interested in more information about the terrible service I'd be happy to discuss it further!
