Grand Avenue Pizza on 30th Ave in Astoria is a true neighborhood gem, I lived here for years and I just found out about this place. I can’t believe I missed it this whole time .serving up some of the best pizza in Queens since 1965. This family-run spot is known for its fast, friendly service and consistently delicious food. Whether you’re grabbing a quick slice or ordering a full pie, you can always count on quality ingredients and great flavors. The pizza here is classic New York style—thin, crispy, and perfectly balanced with just the right amount of cheese and sauce. Their buffalo chicken and spinach artichoke slices are standout favorites, and the garlic knots are a must-try. Portions are generous, prices are fair, and everything is made fresh. Beyond the pizza, Grand Avenue also offers fantastic sandwiches, pastas, and even calamari, making it more than just your average slice shop. The staff is welcoming, and the atmosphere feels like home—perfect for a casual meal with friends or a late-night bite. With its long-standing reputation and loyal customer base, it’s easy to see why Grand Avenue Pizza remains a go-to spot in Astoria. Whether you’re a longtime local or just visiting, this place delivers a true New York pizza experience that never disappoints.

Don't eat here late once the sun goes down, they spray into the windows to clean and the chemical gets into left over pizza. Also, 5 bucks for a pizza slice been there since the morning.

Google
Ordered just two regular slices and mozarrella sticks. Excellent mozarella sticks. Very cheesey. Evident in the video. Marinara sauce compliments eat bite well. Pizza was tastey. Foldability and crust were excellent. Crust had a decent amount of crunchiness, fluffiness and chewiness. Shout out to the sweet sauce. Other specialty slices looked really good. We shall try again.

Google
Grand Avenue Pizza serves a great NYC slice! The crust strikes the perfect balance between chew and crisp, giving it a satisfying bite every time. The sauce and cheese are spot-on, making each slice delicious. Prices are very reasonable for New York, with a traditional slice at just $3.25. If you’re looking for an authentic New York pizza experience without breaking the bank, this place is a must-visit. Highly recommend!

Google
Best pizza in the area, fast service, large slices, affordable and very helpful staff! We have pizza here all the time! The quality is great, the prices reasonable, service is fast and the staff is friendly. Slices are large and I am usually full with only 2 of them. The garlic knots are delicious, definitely try! We always drop our little plastic container with Marinara sauce (for the garlic knots) and the staff is never annoyed when we go back for a substitute

Just wanted to give a quick heads up that your insane increase on prices on Slice has made me stop ordering from you guys completely. You went from the great underrated pizza spot in the neighborhood to the usual greedy business that couldn't resist a few extra bucks and is now losing out probably more than you think due to your dumb greedy decisions.

Google
Though this isn’t my favorite pizza on 30th Ave the price and toppings are great. I love the meatball and jalapeño (I order double jalapeños) slices. The only do take out and delivery but it is a cool no frills old school kind of space.

Google
I had a pepperoni pizza was not expecting much, but was pleasantly surprise that the dough was thin and the crust was great. Sauce was on point. Usually its too sweet but this one was right.

Yelp
Ate here today for lunch as a substitute paraprofessional at P.S. 234 Q. I had brought and slice of margarita pizza with a can of soda and tiramisu that it had tasted really good and delicious. The service there was also attentive and quick. Finally, I would definitely eat and come back again next time.

Yelp
We still love everything about this pizza but place! We have been ordering from here since moving into our old apartment. Their pizza, garlic knots, fettuccine Alfredo and chicken Caesar salad always hit the spot! My favorite place to order from on a Friday night! The guys working here are always so nice and when we order either pickup or delivery, it is always super quick. Definitely in my top 3 pizza spots in Astoria! Hands down.

Yelp
The quality of this pizzeria has gone downhill. Pizza is very bland. They sent me a wet diaper and call it a chicken roll? The chicken was some of the lowest quality I have ever tasted & the roll itself felt like it was microwaved after sitting for 2-3 days. Rice ball was mediocre. I've had better, but, I have also had worse. The delivery guy was very sweet & polite. He is the sole reason this place is getting 2 stars. What happened to the pizza here? It used to be the best pizzeria in town.
google avatar

Yelp
My absolute favorite pizza I've ever eaten. The penne vodka slice is hands down the best thing at Grand Ave Pizza. While you can't go wrong with any other slice of theirs or the garlic knots, this takes the cake. It's seriously the best pizza and if you get a chance to stop by, you better not leave without a slice!

Iris K.

Yelp
I literally order this pizza almost every day because it's the only thing my son wants to eat. between the outrageous fees and rude delivery men I can't tell you which is worse . I've had this issue more than once where I pay for beverages, they don't deliver them and then they lie and say they did. the amount of money I spend I literally keep their lights on and they think they can lie and say something was delivered when it wasn't . truly disgusting customer service and I will never patronize with them again!
google avatar

Jeff B.

Yelp
Looking for a good pizza in Astoria but this isn't it. Very disappointed. I got a large 1/2 cheese, 1/2 sausage and olive. Way too doughy and just overall mediocre. Also ordered a chicken roll that was slightly better than the pizza but not worth ordering from here again.
google avatar

Aikeem V.

Yelp
I ordered a white slice and grandma slice. The white slice was great. The grandma slice was okay. I've had better. They did have a Nutella slice which I've never seen before. It looked good but too much for me!
google avatar

Kai J.

Yelp
What is there to complain about. Some good pizza with good service. Took it home and had a Harry Potter marathon. Nothing better than that.
google avatar

Chuck K.

Yelp
I've passed by Grand Avenue Pizza so many times over the years, but I stopped in for the first time last week. I opted for the penne vodka slide which was very good. The bottom crust was a bit too crunchy for my liking but the flavor was great. I will definitely try it again.

Yelp
Honestly not impressed but not gonna judge so bad and will check them out in person one of these days. I just got home from being in the emergency for 5 hours and wanted something quick and close. So I live a literal 2 minute walk away and ordered from here for the first time cause you never know how your delivery will be. So I figured it would be all less shook around. And fortunately, it was fine and on time, early tbh. I got a five dollar discount for using the slice app for the first time, so that was cool. But the food.... most burnt garlic knots I've ever seen with barely any sauce. The buffalo and penne slices both pretty well done. I'm a buffalo slice girl and always judge a pizza spot on that slice... not impressed. They actually gave me my blue cheese sauce so thumbs up. The cheese cake is decent. BUT THIS IS THE FIRST CANNOLI I EVER ORDERED THAT DIDNT COME WITH CHOCOLATE CHIPS! Disappointed lol. But hey, it's an hour before they close so we all know you're not gonna get the freshest food. Not impressed but will give them a chance again when I can go in person during the day.
google avatar

Yato F.

Yelp
Ohhh Yato hurts to grade this place so low now too! Yato loves you. Your penne slices fed my soul for many nights of Xbox binges and late night fun with dates. Yato always bragged about the pizza to all his dates to stayed the night. It was to die for. And now? Yato might die eating it. Why did you let quality fall? The BBQ chicken tasted so bad, Yato was afraid the chicken went bad. Yato stayed with you even when you were shut down after the rat in a calzone incident; the talk of Astoria for a long time. Now? Yato lost hope. Yato misses your golden days.
google avatar

Yelp
This is the most unique and delicious slice I've had. Legit one weekend, my boyfriend and I had this slice for every meal. (don't tell my parents lolol) The sauce is fire. So creamy and delicious. Sprinkle parmesan cheese on top and you've got the best slice in the game. I am so happy I found this hidden gem in Astoria. I recently traveled 45 min to get here because true love know no distance right!?? If you come here, GET THIS SLICE.
google avatar

Stavros K.

Yelp
Undercooked... Came all messed... And really fast....which explain the above. They used to be great but lately ..very disappointing

Rizvan K.

Yelp
Amazing good food every time. Very consistent! Been going here since child hood. Still great tasting food!

Yelp
Decent Pizza spot in Queens. The service is fast and the workers are sufficient. The two pizza's I got (Chicken Bacon Ranch & Buffalo) did the job. Is it one of the best in New York? No. But great quality none the less. If I am ever in the area and craving pizza, will for sure come again.

Yelp
Grand Avenue used to be a great place to get a slice of pizza , the lines to eat where down the block. Now it's just a generic place for a regular slice. The original owners took extra care in cooking the original pizza sauce and provided the best mozzarella. Now it's just a place to fill your stomach. Respect for providing a safe place to eat, yet nothing fanciful.
google avatar

B M.

Yelp
Been going here for 35 years . The best pizza on 30 ave . I'll recommend this place .

Yelp
Food: 1.5/5 Service:1.5/5 I recently moved to Astoria and have been excited to order from all of the pizzerias around my area. There was lots of buzz about this spot so I decided to give it a go during a quiet weeknight. To be frank, the service was quite terrible. Perhaps the staff was having a bad day but the countertop guy was incedibly rude and seemed like he could not be bothered when taking my order. As for the food, it was incredibly underwhelming. :( The garlic knots were burnt and the plain slice lacked any kind of flavor. In addition, the sauce and cheese of the slice were almost tasteless which was so disappointing! It was an incredibly odd experience considering all of the great reviews and comments that I received prior to stopping in. I hope that the staff was just experiencing a bad day but this place left such a bad tatse and I'd rather check out any other pizzeria in the area before coming back here.

Yelp
This was the worst meatlovers pizza that I've ever had! I've had meatlovers pizza from numerous places in NYC and other places across the US. Every pizzeria has their own way of doing pizza. Though never really stepping to far away from how the flavor of pizza is traditionally flavored. I mean the pizza didn't even look appetizing at all to begin with. Pretty much on par with frozen pizza, and there are actually frozen pizza brands that are really good. Though none that I would ever choose over going to get a fresh pizza made from a pizzeria. Though after tasting this pizza I would definitely take a frozen pizza brand over this meatlovers pizza we received tonight. The sauce was orange as smelled like spaghetti sauce, but tasted absolutely nothing like spaghetti sauce, tomato sauce, or marinara...weird. The meat on the pizza was minced, the crust was very doughy and it tasted like it was baked, then frozen, had toppings placed on it and baked again. I almost never give reviews but I couldn't let this go without saying something.
google avatar

Yelp
Solid NYC style thin-crust pizza. Delicious crust and flavorful marinara. Cheese slice was absolutely perfect. I wasn't overly impressed with the buffalo chicken or the spinach artichoke slices. Not sure if they had been sitting out a while since I went late at night during the pandemic. Will probably be back to quickly grab a cheese slice to go if I'm on 30th ave.

Yelp
Covid-19 Review: So glad this place is open. I've gotten takeout from here and everything came out great and pretty quick. I'm a firm believer in ordering direct - so give them a call when you need your pizza fix. They also have slices on deck. Pre Covid-19 Review: I can't believe I haven't written a review for this place. I've had this be one of my go to pizza places especially before COVID. I'd grab a slice on the go once a week. Overall if I were to give my own Barstool Pizza rating I'd say this place is a solid 7.1 - which is very good. It's a standard NYC slice that tastes like home. You know what you're getting into when you get a cheese slice from this place. I've had other items items as well such as the buffalo chicken slice which I'm a fan because it's mozzarella and hot sauce based versus blue cheese. I'd say they garlic knots are better than average. If you live in the area and need a reliable slice - definitely stop by.

Yelp
We had the lasagna, stuffed shells, and eggplant Parmesan with spaghetti and it was DELICIOUS! Seriously some of the best Italian food we've tried in Astoria. I haven't tried the pizza, but I highly recommend the other hot entrees! 10/10 would order again!

Yelp
To be honest it hurts to even post this but what happened on Sunday (07/26) evening was not OK and unacceptable. My rating is for the staff NOT the business overall because this is my favorite pizza place since I was a child and I am an Astorian and refuse to be banned from this place because of a delivery guy issue. To the point, I ordered 2 large pies and one of them obviously looked like it was shaken up badly and the other came in mint condition. Called the pizza place and the guy over the phone did apologize and offered to send me a new pie but at the same time he questioned the delivery guy I guess he was walking in at the time and I could hear the delivery curse up a storm denying my statements so I offered the guy over the phone proof being that the delivery was being so rude to the point that I could hear him (I speak fluent spanish so I understood everything) the guy over the phone said yes please at which point i proceded to txt him the image .. In the messages I replied and said "One pie came good and the other not good" He replied "Ok I will send another one im sorry" However over the phone he said if I wanted to I can return the other pie , which I intended to but when you have kids because we had company unfortunately they are not patient. So i let them eat pieces of what they could due to the fact that it was not in full slices . Fast forward to when the delivery guy arrives ( another 30 mins later) he claimed that he couldnt leave without taking the old pizza back !!!! And I was stunned but I politley said unfortunately its not complete because the kids were hungry and he clearly saw kids in the house , and he went on and said he doesnt know anything but he cant leave without the old pie and for me to call the store which I did and the guy over the phone also started being rude and said they had to take back the new pizza if I could not return the damaged one so I said ok take the new one back and pls refund me for the damaged one which they only ate partial being that I had kids at home and were hungry. At which point I was so furious because never have I seen a business ask back for their mistake which I clearly sent them a picture for proof if needed for the owner and I said whats the point of me sending the a half eating pie when you will only throw it out , and same thing with the new pie it was already at my house and they TOOK IT BACK ! The guy over the phone then said to me "its not your problem what happens with the new pie whether the staff eats it or they throw it out you were told to return the damaged one in exchange for the new one." The guy over the phone said I would no longer be able to order from this place and hung up on me. Furthermore , the situation did not end here. Even though it was late my husband and I stopped by the shop in an effort to clear up the situation because like I said this is our favorite pizza shop, and he walks in person frequently and boy are we glad we did !!! So the countertop guy did apologize to him and said "I didn't know it was you (which doesn't justify anything because it doesn't matter who it is) but we did notice the staff guy was very upset at the same time, turns out the delivery guy not only changed up the story he deliberately SHOOK up the pizza and told the guys at the shop that I threw it at him !!!! The freaking audacity !!!!! The guys behind the countertop show my husband how they received it in front of the delivery guy who brought it back AND at the same time this guy is laughing at my husband while leaning on the refrigerator in the lobby grin on his face and all not a care in the world at which point my husband was irritated but no altercations happened. My husband walked out when more clients started to arrive because of the fact that he did not want it to escalate so much but again to reiterate our issue was with staff not the business but clearly no owner was present because they took matters into their own hands and kept saying they needed the damaged pie to show their boss and mind you this all happened after 9pm so I doubt that they would save a damaged pie for the next day just to show when they also have image proof as well as Im pretty sure an owner leaves them to use their best judgement when it comes to customer complaints. I don't think it's fair that I be banned from ordering as they are not owners. But their behavior was not acceptable at all.

Matt J.

Yelp
Great service and great Garlic Knots. I brought a big group and they were prompt in getting us food and making sure we were taken care of. The atmosphere is authentic NYC.

Alyssa Q.

Yelp
I usually have really good luck with this place and the pizza is decent. I ordered a pie and the delivery driver delivered my order to the building next door. I called the restaurant and they said it was delivered and the woman who answered verified the name- it wasn't me. Grand wouldn't do anything to correct the order and now I am sad, hungry, and pizza less.
google avatar

Sadri B.

Yelp
a decent pizza shop on busy 30th ave in astoria on the corner . i can only give my take on the cheese slices and sicilians but the menu is extensive with different topping pizza, pasta and entree dishes , calzones, rolls. garlic knots. jamaican patties , salads, soups. canolis, and more . front counter area can be a bit crowded as its a narrow space but the back area has spacious room with a bunch of tables to sit and enjoy . mr miguel please a cheese slice and silician with a bottle of diet pepsi , ok amigo 9.75 please. overall i like the pizza and i should give something else on the menu a try but i like to keep it simple and thats good enough for me .
google avatar

Eddie L.

Yelp
I think they read my previous review because the eggplant parmigiana pizza that I had for lunch was baked to perfection. And their garlic knots were and are heavenly. It was great dipping those crunchy garlic knots into excess olive oil and munching on them. Definitely coming back when I get the chance!
google avatar

Moody F.

Yelp
Usually their pizzas are great! But yesterday we got a slice of meat lover and a slice of fresh mozzarella for my wife. My wife started having stomach cramps and nausea after having the fresh mozzarella. They must check the quality of the slices if they are left for long!

JJ H.

Yelp
Pizza by the slice here is terrible, it looks like its been sitting out in the display case for weeks and tastes like it too. Fresh pies might be a different story but i wouldnt try it
google avatar

Linda S.

Yelp
You have got to be kidding me?! I've never experienced such gall and ignorance in my life. I'm not sure where they learned how to make Buffalo chicken wings but this is the worst version you could ever imagine. Visiting with some friends, we decided to order take out pizza and wings. I don't care for hot wings so I ordered "mild" wings. What I got was plain, fried, tasteless chicken wings lacking any type of sauce or dry rub. I thought they had forgotten it. When I called, I was treated to a snotty employee trying to tell me that these are mild wings and had I wanted sauce on them, I had to order "spicy" as they come with sauce. No where on their online menu does it state this. Have you ever had a Buffalo wing with no sauce, dry rub or spices of any type? I have no idea where they got the idea that a mild wing is simply a fried wing but okay. I would have been happy with my money back. Nope, the snotty employee gave me such a hard time, I figured it wasn't worth my time arguing with the truly ignorant. There are too many other restaurants in the area that are skilled in how to make one of the easiest items on their menu. If you enjoy plain, fried, tasteless wings and nasty employees, this is the place for you!
google avatar

Danny Y.

Yelp
When I stayed in Astoria for about a week, I had a slice of pizza (each time a different one) on my way to the subway regardless of where I was going (even if it was for a meal). I was never disappointed. I was even wild enough to try to their penne pizza. It isn't the best ever but always hit the spot. Affordable with a great owner and staff.

Yelp
Just another manic Monday It's a rainy day in Queens. So why not make everything better with a Meatball parm I find it the best time to try out a spot is when everyone else is at work (normal people). I was walking around 30th Ave where restaurants are almost everywhere you look. I stumbled upon this place just by chance and decided to see what they were all about I love italian food and I always try to find new spots. This place was not disappointing. I walked in ordered my food at the counter. And they served my order in under 10 minutes. Thier Meatball parm was excellent. Thier bread is crispy yet soft. I have had some sandwiches where the bread was so hard it feels like you are chewing on 100 razors. The roof of your moth is all cut up. You get what I'm saying. The sauce is perfectly placed where your bread doesn't get soggy. They cut the meat balls in half where it's easy to chew and eat. Over all it was a great sandwich and I was satisfied. Give them a shot u will not be disappointed
google avatar

Alan B.

Yelp
I ordered a plain cheese pizza. The delivery was fairly quick but they forgot any flavor. The pizza was doughy, the sauce had no flavor and they must use the cheap cheese not the good gooey type that I'm used to. NEVER AGAIN would I order from them. Again, absolutely NO flavor almost totally tasteless
google avatar

James J.

Yelp
I've recently moved to Astoria and so I have been trying all the pizza shops in the neighborhood. I have to be honest that the round pie that I ordered was unfortunately nothing special, it could of been frozen. I would try somewhere else. Maybe they had a bad day.
google avatar

Jordenne G.

Yelp
I'm giving this a 3 because I have genuinely enjoyed this pizza in the past and have had no complaints. My boyfriend and I ordered the Grandma pizza and it came to our apartment very quickly. However, after a few bites, we both had a severe allergic reaction due to pesto being on the pizza. The menu says NOTHING about pesto. We are both severely allergic to pine nuts. IF YOU ARE ALLERGIC TO NUTS DO NOT GET THIS PIZZA. We will be in contact with the owner because this could have been much worse if we did not have epipens or benedryl.
google avatar

TopDog B.

Yelp
On most days off I try to cook something new but then there are days I just want to do absolutely nothing but binge watch anything and order yummy food. This is where Grand Avenue Pizza comes in, always delicious, always delivered on time and always with a smile. I'm yet to try another pie but Pepperoni Sausage and half Jalapenos is always a hit, this pie is yet to survive an hour in my apt.....yup that good.
google avatar

Steve L.

Yelp
Very nice owner, soft spoken though which I'd prefer over someone who's loud and an asshole of course. Would have preferred a bit more bbq sauce on the BBQ Chicken Pizza but other than that, the general quality of the pizza was very good. Crispy bottom while maintaining a fluffy crust that won't cut your mouth. Would come again

Robert M.

Yelp
My go to pizza delivery spot in the area. Good pizza at a good price. Ordered plenty of times with no complaints in all that time.
google avatar

Irene L.

Yelp
Great pizza. Very quick almost never a problem with a ny pizza orders as per other things they might come in wrong
google avatar

Paige S.

Yelp
Pizza was okay. Not the best pizza I've had in New York, but not the worst, and the price was pretty good. The garlic knots are fantastic, I do recommend adding them onto your order no matter what.
google avatar

Jenson S.

Yelp
Favorite pizza spot in Astoria. Love the crust. Super fresh toppings. They are friendly and fast. Definitely recommend.

Mike M.

Yelp
The smallest sicilian slice in the world. Not worth it for the price and not that good. This place is going down so many better places in astoria.
google avatar

Raphael L.

Yelp
I can see the charm and the reason why lots of love Grand Avenue Pizza. Excellent service, nice atmosphere. Every thing that I have ordered was really great and I would revisit to have it again! The crew is very pleasant. I really appreciated that. Would certainly recommend Grand Avenue Pizza to everyone.
google avatar

Terri A.

Yelp
Still my favorite go to for pizza delivery in Astoria!!! Love the vegetable Sicilian pizza...yummos!!! I've never been disappointed. And the delivery has been perfect each time!!!
google avatar

Patricia N.

Yelp
Once again, Grand Avenue Pizza pulled through for my take-out delivery. As my mom and I are still recovering from jet lag, I didn't want to go out and brave the heat and go directly here to eat, considering it was over 85 degrees F today. . . in early May, no doubt! Anyway, I ordered the eggplant rollatini with spaghetti. What can I say?! Another homerun. Way to go, Grand Ave. Pizza for coming through. You'll always have a place in my heart for good ol' New York/Astoria hometown Italian pizzeria food.
google avatar

Lauren J.

Yelp
I really wanted to like the pizza. We have ordered from here in the past and the food came so fast! But look how the salad pizza came, literally all over everything but the pizza, very disappointing. Also had no dressing...
google avatar

Kimberly M.

Yelp
The pizza was superb It arrived quickly too. Amazing service and the pizza was delicious and super fresh. I'd definitely order from them again and again. Love living in Astoria
google avatar

Christina C.

Yelp
You need a translator to interpret their menu. Mild buffalo wings = unsauced, unspiced, plain fried chicken wings. If you want "buffalo wings with sauce" you need to order the spicy buffalo wings. Buffalo wings, of course, are wings with butter and hot sauce, otherwise they're just plain fried wings. They spent 15 minutes arguing with both me and delivery.com that they sent buffalo wings before I finally just asked for a refund. Also grandma pizza = tasteless, gross Margherita pizza on a regular round crust. Beware the bait and switch. The rest of the food I've tried (garlic knots, plain cheese pizza) is average, not great, and certainly not "best of" material.
google avatar

Anthony D.

Yelp
Ordered a pizza at 6pm, Showed up 8:30. Driver said sorry we don't have enough drivers. Called for a refund of HALF the order as the pizza was cold and they hung up on me. Would never go back. Will dispute charge with credit card company.
