"Coffee: $3.00 The awning of Grand Canyon reads “home of the 8oz burger,” but we come to this vaguely Southwestern diner in Park Slope for the menu’s Mexican breakfast section. You’ll find a particularly stacked breakfast torta, and chilaquiles smothered with green salsa, then topped with egg and avocado—which will take you about six coffee refills to finish. On Saturday mornings you may also find millennial members of the Park Slope Food Coop pairing huevos rancheros with screwdrivers from the full bar, and someone watching iPad videos in the company of two grilled cheeses." - willa moore, molly fitzpatrick, will hartman, bryan kim, neha talreja, sonal shah

"Though its awning reads “home of the 8oz burger,” we come to this vaguely Southwestern diner in Park Slope for saucy chicken caesar wraps, and for the Mexican breakfast section of the menu. You’ll find a towering breakfast torta, and chilaquiles smothered in red or green salsa, topped with egg and avocado. Round out your order with a stack of chocolate chip pancakes for a serious Saturday spread. People tend to linger here—you might see a group of millennials drinking mimosas and eating eggs, or someone watching videos on their iPad with two grilled cheeses and a chocolate milkshake as company. photo credit: Willa Moore Food Rundown Chilaquiles Two eggs any style is never a bad choice, but two eggs any style on top of a mountain of crispy-gone-soggy chips in green salsa is better. We hope that makes sense. Chicken Caesar Wrap Sometimes, diner chicken caesar wraps are grilled chicken and lettuce and not a speck of sauce. Not this one. This one is so saucy it drips. In a good way. With crispy fries to balance all the drip. Chocolate Chip Pancakes Crispy, frilly edges and a soft middle, loaded with molten lava chocolate chips. These should be ordered to share every single time." - Willa Moore

Google
It’s a Mexican/American diner breakfast experience, with too many options on the menu. It was good food, but a little too over priced for their food and drinks, like the freshly squeezed orange juice. The home potatoes were very good. The decoration and the atmosphere was not the best, no natural lighting.

Casual dining. Service was prompt and professional. The staff were always on the move, making sure things were well run. The jalapeño burger was made exactly as requested, and had excellent flavor balanced with a mild heat. Fries remained crispy and warm throughout the meal. Dining buddy had a ham and cheese omelette + refried beans. 2 thumbs up for that order too.

Took two toddlers there for late breakfast with four adults. Service was fast and food is decent. It's not quite a kid friendly atmosphere but good enough... We had a nice time.

Google
Great experience. A nice getaway from over priced diner food in NYC. This place is as simple as it gets with a very large menu and fair prices. Outdoor seating is available with a TV. My girlfriend had a problem with her food (nothing was done incorrectly by the staff, she thought there were too many pineapples in her al pastor) the staff got her a new dish and did not charge us for it. Staff was very friendly and the facilities were clean. Would recommend for a casual day out.

Google
It took 3 mins for food, we loved it . You should eat here. The empty plate is the huevos rancheros. Absolutely delicious.

Google
Nice quiet diner, good food, dven a vegan menu. Parking is hard to find.

Google
Service was very fast but unfortunately the food was less than great. Home fries were bland and the broccoli and cheese omelet was overcooked and under seasoned. All of this would have been easily overlooked if the prices online were actually accurate. Everything was 50%-100% more than what is stated on Google Maps menu, which was disappointing considering the quality of the food. Overall for a coffee, omlete and eggs Benedict = $35 with tip... I'd recommend another place

Wife got tired of overpaying for underwhelming experiences at fancy restaurants, so after wondering in Prospect Park for hours, she wanted to go home and see what our fridge holds. I offered to find a reasonably priced place and found this little diner. Southwestern theme, lots of mexican dishes plus regular diner fare. Wife had nachos with chicken and I ordered some kind of burger with Russian dressing and selected to go with waffle fries (2.50$ extra) instead of regular fries. Portions were huge, we shared dishes and loved the food. No room for dessert, barely got up from the table as is. Friendly staff, waiter spoke english so he could explain the mexican menu to us. This is a small diner, with usual diner atmosphere, nothing special, nothing negative. All as expected. I appreciated no loud music blasting overhead, so we could relax and eat and talk. Definitely will come back again to try other tasty things.

Yelp
My wife and kids come here all the time. They love it. It's friendly, affordable and great for kids. I was dubious, but when I went last night I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and taste of the food. The burger was simple but fantastic. And much better than other options in the area. The staff were attentive and kind. And everyone left happy. Well worth the visit.

Yelp
Groovy day Yelpers! So it's the Saturday before the New Year's and my sister and I decide we will go for the last brunch of the year at this groovy spot. When we arrived I noted that the Mexican brunch menu was cool but ultimately after I had my hot peppermint tea with honey, I went for a turkey burger deluxe with Monterey Jack cheese and turkey bacon. My sister ordered a Cuban. The turkey burger was standard but the coleslaw was the truth!!! The pineapple mojito was nice. My sister enjoyed the Cuban but really enjoyed the Cuba libre even more, maybe because it was so strong. What makes this place groovy is the ambience and friendly service. If you are looking for a cool brunch spot to sit and talk this is your spot! Cheers!

Yelp
I had a very bad experience at this Diner. I was very surprised about the treatment that was given. I ordered an omelette with tomatoes, spinach and chicken. Once the food came out, it looked really good. I began eating it and noticed there was a white paper wrapper that must have came from the cheese that was cooked inside of the food. I immediately brought it to the attention of the cook and called for the manager. The young man can to my table to investigate it and thought it was funny. He asked me was that paper in my food as I picked the paper out of the food with my fork. He removed the plate and took it back to the kitchen. I sat at the table for at least 15 minutes before anyone came back to say anything. Once the female manager came, she didn't have the best attitude. She said she was busy and walked away to attend other customers. I waiter another 15 minutes and she came back to say, she will remove it from the bill with an attitude.

Yelp
Such a good diner! Some of the pricing seems off, some things affordable where you'd expect them to be expensive, but then some cheap things are overly priced. The service was great, everyone was super attentive, and they were decorated for Halloween which was super cute! The portions were great, and the all the food was so good.

Anthony A.

Yelp
I love this place food is good. Service is great and food comes out fast a true hidden gem

Yelp
Vast menu but this is a Jack of all master of none situation - except the milkshakes, those were fire. Food and service were subpar tho.

Yelp
Had breakfast at Grand Canyon Diner on Saturday morning. Standard diner fare, less homemade than other spots, and a bit expensive. Quality: Grand Canyon Diner is an old-school diner with a bit of a Tex-Mex preference. We started with a Large Iced Coffee, which was served in a huge goblet. The Mozzarella Sticks were okay, a bit too much breading, and the French Fries were fine. The Giant Breakfast comes with eggs, meats, and a choice of French Toast, waffles, or pancakes. I selected French Toast, which I was not thrilled with, but the meats and eggs were good. Quantity: Huge portion sizes for everything. Value: $4 for a Large Iced Coffee. $9 for Mozzarella Sticks. $6 for French Fries. $17 for a Giant Breakfast. Ambiance: Grand Canyon Diner is located in Park Slope. It is an older diner and is definitely in need of some updates inside. Outside they have a fairly large covered structure as well as some tables along the sidewalk. Inside they have a waiting area, then booths in the raised area behind it. The narrow and dark inside area feels very cramped. Crowd: Almost every table filled up on Saturday morning. Service: Not enough emphasis on the outdoor diners. Parking: A few spots out front.

Lynne T.

Yelp
We ate here for a late breakfast and it was okay, but that's all. I had French toast and my husband had an omelet with the usual trimmings. Both were acceptable but not special. Likewise for the service and ambiance.

Elizabeth K.

Yelp
I'm from jersey so I know diners. This one is average and over priced. Busy though! The sandwiches don't come with fries which is highway robbery at a diner.

William G.

Yelp
I like the restaurant but people need to leave their dogs home when eating outside. I love dogs but we don't need to hear your mutt barking. From now on if I see a dog in the outside seating area I'm not going there. I'll go to another diner

Turandot Y.

Yelp
One of the best diners in the area. I like that they have a Mexican menu and a TV playing the news in their outdoor seating. Burrito and chicken parm sandwich very very good. Prompt and friendly service. Only flaw is there are flies outside which is annoying, but to no fault of the restaurant's.

Yelp
Sunday, August 2q, 2022, around noonish, party of 2. We had a nice table in the back out of the way and not on top of other tables. 2 piping fresh cups of coffee came quickly with 2 cups of iced water as well as a bottle of cold water for refills. The lady order spinach, onion, and green pepper egg white omelets with home fries and a side of bacon. She enjoyed every bite as well as her toast. I had a garden omelet with home fries and a side of chorizo which went well on top of the omelet and homefries. Awesome and attentive staff and coffee refills were quick. A great spot to grab a nice breakfast.

Yelp
Placed a very simple order and called the restaurant when it hadn't arrived at its scheduled time. Was told that it was two minutes away. 15 minutes later called back and was told the restaurant didn't have the order that would make it and I would have it in another 10 minutes. 20 minutes later I called the restaurant and they hung up on me repeatedly.an hour and a half after I ordered, my food arrived, and the order was incorrect. Will never ever ever order from them again.

Yelp
Let's start by saying the bathroom was clean lol we really had to pee and since we had to get lunch we figured let's check this place out. I ordered the corn beef hash and babe had a burger delux with waffle Fries. The waitress was friendly and there was no wait to get seated which was great. You MUST be vaccinated and present proof. So far so good! I can't wait to actually taste the food.

Lovelie F.

Yelp
Just cause you have to use the restroom doesn't mean you should settle for a Starbucks and this is exactly how we ran into this diner. The bathroom was clean. Overall the diner was clean and they won me over once I noticed all their condiments were full. Oh yeah food was delicious.

Yelp
Great diner in Brooklyn ! We ate outside in the back patio. I had the veggie burger with salad which was delicious! My dining partners also had a veggie burger and other burgers which they thoroughly enjoyed' Dining felt clean, safe and food was tasty. A great place to stop on 7th Ave and 2nd St.

Yelp
$6:68 Waay..too overpriced!! Everything on the menu is waaay over priced Great service!! But horrible prices

Jayme S.

Yelp
Let me start, I was their with my teenage daughter. A. This was a Sunday night and I been their before everything perfect before. Until I notice the older chef with a mustache talking in Spanish. He looked super drunk and was just talking nasty to everyone behind the register. But then he starts talking how my 15 year old daughter looks so " desirable " he was so loud and nasty. He thinks we don't understand Spanish. Every single word he said out loud was nasty. How can a place like this let their chef drink and get so drunk. What upset me was how he can be talking so nasty about a teenager. Honestly that chef should get fired. The chef at night has to be fired he looks like a pervert and drunk. I live in the neighborhood and would not let my kids go to that place if they allow this anymore.

Yelp
What happened to New York dinners? I've been here twice and been let down each time. This place always seems busy and seems to almost be more a Mexican restaurant than a diner. Today We ordered a patty melt, Mac and cheese, and French onion soup. Let me just say staff is friendly enough and place is adequate but food is sorely lacking. The soup was overwhelming flavored with oregano. It's French onion soup...um what? Also it was sour like someone poured vinegar in it. Inedible! The Mac and cheese. Just weird and old tasting. The patty melt...meh. But no Russian dressing or any moisture. Also fires were soogy. I don't get it. Not for me.

Kurt D.

Yelp
We love this place! Prices are a little steep, but not out of line for the area. High quality food, varied menu, and the biggest plus - they have a truly wonderful staff. Everyone is so friendly and they're always so kind to and accommodating of our toddler aged kiddo.

Christina S.

Yelp
Visited here and absolutely loved it. The atmosphere was so vibey as the music is very upbeat 90s. We all ordered drinks & food. I 10/10 recommend the nachos. Sooo flavorful and I like how guac is included (most places it's extra). Drinks were also super cheap- only $5 a person. Definitely recommend this spot for a quick bite / chill meal as their menu has a lot to offer.

Sue B.

Yelp
Gross- terrible food, overpriced and that shed outside is nasty! I ordered a burger and my son had scrambled eggs- it was lousy. Place needs a renovation. Staff was fine.

Michael P.

Yelp
Surprise of Park Slope! New and improved. Order off the Mexican menu. Authentic! Or breakfast anytime. On a cool day, sit out back in the surprise garden area. It's a treat. Added drinks and a good beer selection.

Shelby V.

Yelp
YUMMMM When you're looking for diner food there is no other place to come in Park Slope for that wholesome feeling of potatoes, eggs, coffee, and a breakfast burrito. I always try to get the waffle fries because.... well when waffle fries are on a menu, you oblige. Park Slope is the kind of place where you know there is something beyond the food that is good and Grand Canyon Diner is into sustainability because they use wind energy. Good stuff all the way around- feel full and feel full of love for the mission of this business!

V B.

Yelp
I came in with my daughter for brunch. The staff is amazing, the food is delicious. It's a really nice family diner, I'll be back with the rest of my little family soon.

Ben F.

Yelp
We went for the first time this weekend our food was super fresh and very well seasoned. My son loved his steak quesadillas and my daughter had perfect over medium eggs and a crispy croissant. We both had tasty salads -- mine had what seemed like a huge amount of smoked salmon and my wife's house special was really tasty; avocado, cranberries and roasted walnuts(?) and not drowned in balsamic vinaigrette. Ask to be seated in the sunny back patio, only three tables!

april h.

Yelp
How can you not like this place. Great atmosphere and solid diner food. The menu is huge with American and Mexican options. I had the Park Slop sandwich (eggs, bacon, onion, jalapeno, refried beans and mayo on a Portuguese bun). My daughter had the Norwegian Benedict. Mine was excellent. The benedict was okay. We both agreed the inviting cool atmosphere made it for us.

Lisa N.

Yelp
The food was good. Came out piping hot. Our server was George. He was attentive, sociable and got our order correct. He frequently checked on us to make sure all was well. I will definitely return. George absolutely deserves a raise!!

Kate B.

Yelp
We went to this diner the morning after my bachelorette and it was perfect. Service was great - very quick and delicious. Great pricing and very good, full plates. Lots of seating in the back for a more spread out experience. The coffee was also good and the vegetables fresh. Seems mostly like locals here - not very flashy or touristy. Good for families and kids. Booths and tables.

Margaret M.

Yelp
Great place to eat..Burgers are tasty, I got the turkey burger deluxe...I assumed " deluxe" meant you get cheese on the burger so was a bit disappointed when the burger came without any cheese. There is plenty of seating, but it can get a bit noisy. Alcohol is served if you choose to imbibe. I would have given 5 stars if the waiter would have come and checked on us, and when I say it took forever for he bill.. I thought the waiters forgot about us..All in all, great place to eat, food is great!

John C.

Yelp
An old-school NYC diner. The food is good and the staff are friendly. They have vegan options, which is a nice touch that you don't often find in a diner. They also have a Tex-Mex menu that's quite good. Definitely worth coming to for breakfast or lunch if you're in the area.

Nora C. E.

Yelp
I ordered delivery from here. I got a very solid turkey burger with sautéed onions and delicious waffle fries. However, I also ordered carrot cake. This slice of carrot cake was $6 and 1. Was made with very sub-par buttercream frosting (carrot cake is supposed to have cream cheese frosting) and 2. Was packaged with my hot food so arrived all melty and gross. I'd order hot food from here again but I'll skip the desserts.

Ray M.

Yelp
Extremely overpriced, low quality diner food just because. Nice staff but it doesn't make up for the outrageous pricing.

jeffrey L.

Yelp
Wanted a good burger while I waited to have my dog groomed. Always liked Grand Canyon diner. The pandemic order was great. Plus they threw in a free homemade lemonade! Great place!!!!

Anonymous X.

Yelp
Came here on a whim during a date. The food was surprisingly good and the outdoor ambiance was very cute. Would return.

Josh R.

Yelp
We had a great breakfast at Grand canyon diner. Portions are big. Can't wait to go back.

Ceasar R.

Yelp
What can I say Grand Canyon Diner is one of the greatest diners I've tried in park slope perhaps. From great service to great food and to amazing staff. Also has great Mexican food my favorite is the pozole. For those who would like to know what pozole is then it's basically hominy corn and shredded chicken in a zesty broth served with oregano and fresh lime. So if anybody was to ask me what restaurant I recommend, I will definitely have to say Grand Canyon Diner.

Britt M.

Yelp
Amazing diner. Felt safe sitting outside. Great breakfast, nice people. Good to be here.

Sam C.

Yelp
This place is absolutely delicious. I've only ever ordered delivery from them...they're on time, the food is still warm, everything is fresh and cooked well. On the few occasions when a little mistake was made, one phone call and they right the wrong immediately. The eggs benedicts are my favorite on the menu, and the Challah French toast is perfect. i'm consistently impressed!!

Caroline D.

Yelp
This is my favorite dinner in the neighborhood. A large variety on its menu. Not diet food but really good. Nice wait staff.

Cam F.

Yelp
I've only ever ordered delivery from this restaurant, but the breakfast is amazing. The delivery service was acceptable. The last time I ordered through Grub hub, but wanted to change something I ordered to a menu item that wasn't included on their Grub hub menu. The restaurant was more than accommodating. So...great experiences so far.

Chris D.

Yelp
Kinda gross. The patty melt was fine but the kid's meatballs were cold and probably a week past due. And the grilled cheese was gluey. Plus $4.25 for a tiny side of coleslaw is a rip off. I would be fine with it if it was homemade but this is probably out of a 5 gal bucket.

Oleg Z.

Yelp
The only reason that i am giving them an extra star is because the food was good...The service on the other hand left much to be desired. I came to the diner at what must have been right before the brunch rush on Saturday - the place was mostly empty and i was seated in a booth even though i was only a party of two (they could have sat me at a table). My friend was running a little late and i was waiting to order. In that time people starting coming in and i started getting hassled by the staff. At that point it was still understandable, i had not ordered yet and they didn't know when my friend would come. We ordered maybe three minutes later and the process felt super rushed, the waitress demanded an order before my friend even took her coat off. We ate at our leisure and still had food on our plates and coffee in our mugs when the staff brought the check without being prompted. Barely 5 min later one of the waiters came back and said they needed the table for new customers and asked if we wanted the rest of the food to go...I wasn't about to start rushing on their behalf but started to wrap up the conversation and get my stuff together. 2min after the waiter came back and AGAIN told us we had to vacate the table. Someone needs to remind the staff that this is a Diner, not a fast food place. Terribly unprofessional from start to finish.

Victoria C.

Yelp
Best burgers in town for the past 10+ years. Waiter and rest of the staff are so polite. Staple of Park Slope.

Calista N.

Yelp
I was recovering from a nasty bug and ordered some soup before my doctor's appointment. It was an order of soup and a side of rice in the middle of a weekday afternoon, but they still said it would take 60-70 minutes (I live .3 miles away). Even after waiting patiently, the food never showed. I called the restaurant and they said it was on the way- 40 minutes later, I had to call back and tell them I had to leave. Given how bad the food seems to be, I'm sort of glad I dodged the bullet. Here's hoping Seamless gives me a refund.

Jon A.

Yelp
Everyone needs to CHILL This place is a reliable, fast, and well priced diner. Take your Michelin star shit elsewhere I get the eggs Benedict mostly, but also tango with the burgers or chicken Caesar wraps . I can't go to bat for cold chicken but I stand by that this place is a solid 4-star.

Alicia S.

Yelp
THEY TRIED TO STEAL MY PHONE. If I could give them less than 1 star I would. I went there for brunch with friends. Upon leaving I soon realized I no longer had my phone. I retraced my steps back to the diner and asked the staff if I happened to leave my phone on the table after I left. All the staff denied having seen my phone so I went outside and used GPS to track my phone. GPS said my phone was at the restaurant so once again I went in to ask if someone had found my phone, again they "looked" and tried to convince me I left it at home. After about 5-10 minutes of denial i proceeded to tell them I had a GPS tracker on it and was going to set off the alarm, then and only then did they go (without hesitation)to the box where they stored the menus and pulled out my phone. Mind you I still.had my phone when they took up the menus. They tried to steal my phone!

Samira G.

Yelp
Terrrrrible, i ordered burgers and meet was definitely smelled rotten!! I call the waiter and he says its fresh with a terrible attitude. I have not complained a single time in my life about a burger but there was no way i would touch this! Dont go here, save ur money and health

Flower S.

Yelp
The worse place ever seen the smell in here smells like old people.the flies are everywhere while you eat which makes me don't want to eat. From what I sample it was nasty. The servers was the only good thing out this place & the bathroom was clean anything else you could forget me coming back this place needs to just start over with the place and cook.
