Grand Hyatt Washington

Wonderful stay and fabulous location close to all of the sights easily within walking distance. The hotel was nice and updated. We are Globalists, so they gave us breakfast and dinner certificates since the club renovation had started 2/1. Hands down this was one of the top 3 free hotel breakfast we have ever had. It was super delicious. Highly suggest this hotel for proximity to the DC must-see sights!

Great convenient location. We stay at the Grand Hyatt in San Fran regularly and this one is better. Rooms are bigger, bathroom is equipped better, the rooms have good sound insulation, and the valet system here is also way better! Feels like I'm in a better hotel all around. Enjoying it here so far.

Every employee we encountered was lovely. Loudy at the front desk was so helpful. The head of security was always checking on us. The bell guys were quick with our luggage and needs. Great hotel, clean, perfect location!

Very nice option in central D.C. with a Metro station just a three minute underground walk directly from the hotel lobby. Very convenient. Easy walk to many theaters, restaurants, and Capital One Arena just about three blocks away. The front desk staff, concierge, and the staff in the Cure Bar & Bistro were all 100% top-notch. The price versus the amenities and service definitely made it feel like one great bargain. Will stay there again for our next trip to D.C.

My teenage daughter and I stayed here for 3 nights just before Christmas on a 2 month long holiday travelling around 3 continents from Australia. This was our favourite hotel so far. Beautiful surroundings, easy checkin, clean and modern rooms in a great location. Beds were soft (we had experienced quite a few not so good ones). Staff were focussed on customer service, and communicative. The hotel is right above the metro but unfortunately we didnt use it as two of the main lines were under repair.

My fiance and I stayed 4 nights in a premium room while in DC for a conference. The 'premium' room had large (> 2 inch) gaps between the top and bottom of the front door and its frame, allowing the immediate and significant transfer of both sound and light. Further, the deadbolt on the door to the adjoining room was broken. They addressed this security concern not by fixing the lock or temporarily removing the room from booking, but by pulling the bedend bench in front of the broken door. I suppose it would have blocked an intruder long enough for us to wake up? Housekeeping was pleasant, but did not empty the trash and left used gum on the floor. The bar downstairs had slow and inattentive service. The bartender poured our three sake flight to three different levels, and did the same for the two beers ordered by the man next to us. Finally, and most egregiously, I called ahead to pay for a late checkout my final day due to an afternoon work meeting. When we checked in, I confirmed the late checkout. The day before, I confirmed the time of checkout again to ensure I was not interrupted during my meeting. The day of the meeting, I was interrupted by housekeeping and someone who appeared to be a manager THREE times. I finally had to beg the manager not to interrupt anymore because I was about to enter my meeting. Honestly, what was the point of upgrading to a premium room with broken locks and flimsy doors? What was the point of opting into housekeeping, if the trash was overflowing when we left, and I had to pick up gum off the floor? What was the point of requesting and paying for a late checkout, and confirming it the night before, only to have my workday interrupted over and over? This is a hotel that caters almost exclusively to professionals visiting DC. I was not impressed with their professionalism.

Our recent stay at Grand Hyatt (1/5/25) was perfect! Service was exceptional, room spotless & very comfortable. Everyone was so welcoming & friendly. Special recognition for your lobby attendant Angel. She took the time to give us really helpful information & restaurant recommendations as well as directions for safe walking routes to take. |You have a gem in Angel, she was a bright spot in our visit to DC, & we look forward to returning to Grand Hyatt!

We were in the suite and the room was great. Ample floor space and a lot of table space. However, it would have been nice if the bathroom wasn't in the master bedroom as we were a family of four with 2 teens. Also, the sink was located outside the bathroom. These weren't too troublesome though. Otherwise, the hotel is beautiful. Our room was overlooking the atrium + lobby area. It was a nice view. There was a nespresso in the room but with espresso pods. Bring your own nespresso vertuo pods if you want.

Absolutely stunning ! Beautiful inside and out specially during the winter season! It has a Starbucks inside as well as other cute stores to buy souvenirs. Our views were amazing! I had such a great experience here. It wasn't packed, we were in town for a company gathering at a nearby museum, and this place is walking distance from almost everything! We walked to the White House , Abraham Lincoln's memorial, the monument, the pentagon, the us treasury, so many amazing stops and the squirrels at the park are so used to people lol , they literally come to you and take the food and they are so chunky.. lol enough about the squirrels. This hotel is the place to stay to visit and enjoy what Washington DC has to offer, but don't walk alone at night. It's not the safest. It's well lit but still. They have a bar inside , room service , I will definitely be back.. and tour the rest I still didn't get to see of Washington DC .. that's all for now , buh bye

My first time visiting the Washington Grand Hyatt for a Summit. The conference space was beautiful, staff were helpful, and had a Starbucks on the first floor where you can order from the app and pick it up. 10/10 recommend

I'm here for an annual conference every year. I love the accommodations, staff and making my stay easy. This was my fourth time and I needed a crib/pack in play. It came set up and included bottles of baby soap and lotion? That was awesome! Also I appreciate having the option of checking in early after a red eye. The convenience to the metro station and the location in general is awesome. Also the conference food gets better each year. This year they were remodeling so I can't wait to see what it looks like next year.

This is a beautiful hotel in the heart of downtown. Metro accessible and walking distance to White House, National Mall and Capital One Arena. Rooms are a good size and comfortable beds. It's a little pricey but Enjoyed my stay.

I recently enjoyed a 4 night stay here for a conference. Although, I had completed my check-in on the app and asked for a digital key, I still needed to go to the front desk to complete my check-in and get physical key. My interaction with the Front Desk Staff was friendly and courteous. I was even offered ear plugs for my stay. This stay was during the construction period, for which there was a lot of noise between 9am and 5pm. The hotel did have a notice for the construction a registration and I received a number of notices and reminders. I didn't expect to be in the room so I didn't think it would be an issue. The first day wasn't bad and I almost didn't recall that it was construction noise but by my last day, I was very happy that it was my last night as the noise was very loud. Overall, I thought the ambiance of the hotel was nice and was surprised by how much conference space they have. There were multiple conferences happening simultaneously. I didn't get a chance to check out the amenities or the onsite restaurant, nor did I use the convenient Metro access. The location is convenient, I hadn't been in the area in a long time and had forgotten how much was nearby and within walking distance. I enjoyed my stay and would consider staying here again.

Clean and modern conference venue. This review is exclusively for the Grand Hyatt's conference rooms and floors as well as facilities, not for the sleeping rooms. Very nice hotel, conveniently located in Penn Quarter and close to a lot of attractions and the Congressional offices. I stayed here for three nights, mostly for business but also to see friends and enjoy the city. Walking into the atrium, it's hard not to be impressed by the grand scale of this place. Checking in was a straightforward, and as a World of Hyatt member I was able to bypass a longer line of people waiting. I was given a high floor room away from the elevator, as I requested. I would have preferred a single king bed since I was traveling on my own, but they only had a two queen bed option available. The room was clean and spacious, and with the drapes open it had plenty of natural light. There was an armchair with a small table in the corner that was good for evening reading and watching TV. The small work station was sufficient for my needs during the stay. The bathroom was fairly simple in design and the bath soaps and shampoos were nice. I didn't eat at any of the restaurants, but the conference that I attended had food prepared by the hotel and overall it was very good for a buffet-type meal. The conference rooms were quite good in terms of lighting, temperature, and acoustics. The gym facilities are excellent. It's clean and bright with well-maintained equipment. I particularly liked the water machine, which offers both still and sparkling water with different flavors. A basket of Nutri-Grain bars was also a nice touch. My only quibble about the gym is that you have to walk across the main lobby to get to the stairs or elevators to the gym. When you're hot and sweaty after a workout and having to snake your way through a crowd in the lobby, it's a just a little awkward. The hotel location is really convenient to a lot of things. There are two Metro stations within a short walk. The Smithsonian Museums are short walk away (don't miss the National Portrait Gallery nearby) and there are a ton of restaurants around, including a fairly respectable Chinatown. The White House isn't that far, and even if you wanted to walk to Capitol Hill, it's quite manageable. The stay was only slightly affected by construction which others have complained about. Thankfully, there were no disruptions to the conference or any inconvenience in my room. So, this was a very good experience. The price was somewhat more than what I typically prefer to pay (it came to about $400/night), but for the location it was a good deal. I actually tried to book it again for a second trip a couple months later but they had no availability. I travel to DC at least once a year and will look to stay here again.

It's a nice hotel? I'll never truly understand or take advantage of all a luxury hotel like this has to offer, but the room was decent, the service was amazing, and the catered food for the conference I attended was some of the best I've had in a long time. But also, the room lock was kinda broken and the tub faucet was loose, and my window faced the giant recycling dumpster on the road. So, you know, not the most luxury experience, but I wouldn't complain if another conference was hosted here. Shoutout to Sherome at the front desk for an excellent checkout experience despite the fact that I asked a million random questions

ALL AREAS ARE REVIEWED 1-5, 1 being the worst and 5 being the best. Reservations-5- Easy on Concur, young lady behind the desk was able to help me get a nicer room even though the folks on the phone said that none was available Parking-n/a. I didn't drive. Ease of check-in-3-Easy to use app, in-hotel check in was a little confusing as there are several lines that folks seem to choose arbitrarily. Counter folks were initially helpful until,I asked about an airport shuttle and was told I could take a taxi. Another counter person later gave me the number of a local shuttle service. Room-3-They are in process of renovating the rooms and I believe that I was the first person in this particular room since the remodel. Positives include: USB outlets on side of bed work, Refrigerator gets very cold, Everything looks/is new. Negatives included: the room didn't feel "finished", there were screws in the bathroom door half screwed in and spots on the ceiling that had not been painted. Additional negatives include: There was no desk in the room, only a small round table that didn't allow me to work as I usually do. There were only 6 hangers in the closet. There was no handle on inside door of shower door, and the design soaked the bathroom wall when using the shower. There was no hot water three of my four nights, I was initially told there would be no hot water for one hour sometime during my stay. It was very loud in my room for several hours a day due to construction, while I spent most of my time at a conference I did need to take calls in my room and that was impossible. There was no microwave. Mattress/pillows-1- Bed was very uncomfortable, leaving my back sore every morning. Elevator speed/availability-4-There is a large bank of elevators that moved at a decent pace. The elevator from the lobby to the gym (hidden by Starbucks) was very slow and seemed to stick at each floor. Gym/pool-5- The gym was this hotels saving grace in my opinion, it had several working treadmills, a rower, and an elliptical for cardio. There was a good selection of dumbbells as well as a great cable machine with a pull-up bar (extra points in my book). There was also a small room to the side with mats, boss ball, etc. The gym also has water, snack bars, and a flavored water station. Restaurant-5-there are two places to eat here, I ate several times at the one upstairs. They have good choices for lunch and dinner with several very healthy options. The staff was very nice and accommodating and I would definitely recommend it. Staff-4-With the exception of the one check-in person everyone was very nice and hospitable. Price-5- seemed fairly priced for the amenities and the area. Overall-3-I can't give this hotel anything higher than a 3 due to all of the room issues I had, to include the loud construction. That being said I may give them another chance when I am back in DC to be fair.

I hated my stay here. The water in the shower was barely hot. The WiFi was trash. Their tvs supposedly have chrome cast, but that barely worked. This put a bad taste in my mouth about the Hyatt brand for sure.

From beginning to end, this Hyatt location lives up to their name. Mr. Shaheen was fantastic. Very respectful and super friendly. He took my friend, Lisa's bag and walked from the lobby entrance to the check-in counter. Cristina Uquillas (ECU) also provided excellent service and information on the renovations and disruptions of service. However, she was great in making sure I was well informed and gave me the option of a lower room, if I wanted. I arrived at the room and loved the appearance. The room (868) had a king sized bed, plenty of closet and drawer space, a well large bed and clean bathroom. It had a fridge and a coffee maker, that I didn't use but was available had I needed it. The fitness center on floor 4B, had plenty of treadmills, few recumbent bikes, and a couple of weighted cable machines and plenty of space. One of the cooler things in the fitness room was the sodastream water cooler... I just used it for water, but it served water, and then some. Plenty of space meant that you were not stretching or lifting on top of each other. I did hang out with some friends at Cure, one of their in house restaurants. My friends were stoked by the food. I arrived at just the right time, dessert! I was able to bum some of their fruit and cake fondue. Not too shabby. Every morning before our event, I was able to visit the in house Starbucks for my wake up needs. The folks in their were great. Finally, the conference space for the event was nice and spacious. Located on 3B, the Constitution A conference space was great, and Ms. Chelsea Mackey get's shout outs for taking care of our needy, and unruly bunch. She did a fantastic job of making sure our combo event went smoothly. Her events team. On checkout, Jonathan Wheatley, took down my comments about the water and apologized for the Hyatt being less than it's best Hyatt self This place is well placed amongst public transportation, restaurants, and tourist sites. Literally, the front entrance is steps from the nearest Metro station. If you wanted to see the Caps/Wizard or a show, you are within a block of Fords Theater, Capital One Arena, and countless bars and restaurants. You are not even far away from the National Mall and Smithsonian museums. Note: We were directed to the FedEx on 2B for printing event materials. It's all automated, but it will cost you a pretty penny. The days of 10cents per copy are done ;)

I had a great stay here. The best part was its direct connection to the underground Metro Center station, making it easy to get around without stepping outside--especially reassuring given that my DC friends have told me the area can be dangerous at night, but it does close early at 10pm. The White House is a 13 min walk away & there are many coffee shops nearby to check out in the morning and afternoons! The hotel room was clean, and I loved being able to request anything I needed sttaight from the Hyatt app. Will be back to stay here again next time I'm back in DC/Rosslyn!

This location was located at the heart of everything in Washington DC. I really liked the hotel, there was a lot of things in walking distance and a ride share away. The room was clean and bed was great. The staff at reception was very helpful and also was able to keep our bags before our flight back in the evening as in any other Hyatt.

Our stay here was great as far as the convenience of the location and overall comfort of the room, those were easily five star qualities. The beds were extremely comfortable and I loved the large TV that was in the room. It was very easy to access the hotel from the Metro, the stop is right underneath the hotel. That was a huge plus. Check-in was a breeze but they did little to discuss the amenities of the hotel or services offered, which was a little annoying because apparently a preloaded metro card was included in our resort fee as well as a restaurant credit. I didn't find out about this until the day we left when I was online trying to find the check-out time. When I requested the metro card, I was met with a bit of push back as I was checking out. What's the point of offering things as a perk or a resort amenity when you don't actually provide it willingly? We also didn't receive the daily bottles of water included in the fee. Petty complaints, maybe... But these were such simple things to provide and the attitude of the desk staff wasn't exactly warm or helpful. We had an atrium view room, which was fine and still provided light if the blinds were opened. What I didn't anticipate was the level of noise from the atrium. They use the area below for receptions and it can get quite loud since it's a huge echoey space. If you're sensitive to sounds, these atrium rooms are not a good choice. I did have an issue with the room itself, and that was the bathroom lights being on a timer. I was taking a long hot shower, the bathroom was extremely steamy, and the lights turned off while I was mid shower. I had to get out of the shower, while completely wet and make my way to the light switch. There was a dim nightlight that automatically turned on, but since I was showering I wasn't wearing my glasses, so it really didn't help me in terms of being able to see what I was doing. Fortunately I did not fall while making my way to the light switch, but I did slip, regain my balance and slightly tweak my back in the process. I'm just grateful it wasn't worse. But this light timer is something guests should be warned about and I hope it doesn't result in a worse situation for future guests, so minus one star for that and the less than friendly service by the front desk. The concierge and people that helped check my luggage were kind and helpful. Overall the room and location were great, I loved the Starbucks in the lobby and the print shop downstairs. I would stay here again, but would avoid long showers for any future stays.

Stayed here at lead 3-4 times before reno. They pump some kind of flowery scent through the vents that I'm allergic to now, post reno. What happened to HYPOALLERGENIC in hotels? Beware if you have allergies. Also, now they require key cards to get to every floor, not just top. So annoying. The front desk staff has no personality. Manager basically told me tough sh** on the allergy. Final straw: $31 dirty martini. Wow. I used to drink here for $50 a night! Sad. Also, they lost their star bartender during reno and now it's a no personality guy charging $31 for a martini. Get out of here! There is no empathy from the staff and they tried to charge me an "early departure fee" when I checked out because their hotel isn't hypoallergenic. Hyatt needs to retrain people the way Starbucks does.

Excellent location to all the sites and some great restaurants. (Closest site is Ford's Theater....reserve tix there BTW). We stayed here years ago and are glad we returned. Big open lobby and friendly staff provide a comforting home away from home feel all while being a hub to all your site-seeing plans. The on-site restaurant, the Cure Bar and Grill is comforting and convenient with a "bar and grill" menu and a sushi bar. We actually did three meals here. It made things easy. The Cabinet is a breakfast restaurant featuring a full buffet. The Metro Center subways stop is close by the hotel to take you to all the site-seeing fun downtown. Tourism has fully rebounded here so map out your days for what you want to do. Hyatt has a helpful concierge that can book some great tours for you.

Was under construction, noisy from 8 am-6 pm. Air conditioning is terrible. Looks nice and is very clean and tidy. Only gave water one day, not both like stated on the website. Conference area was also nice, staff was friendly. Food was pretty good for the conference.

This hotel is very conveniently located within walking distance of restaurants and some museums. Parking is very expensive and there is no in/out. Glad we didn't drive Bryan at the desk was beyond amazing. Thank you for your kind service The bellhop staff were all helpful, friendly and were nice to chat with. The service here is outstanding I didn't like there wasn't a microwave in our room and no blanket. After adjusting the temperature, you were either too hot or cold. Also, not one premium movie channel, no HBO or Showtime. It would be nice to offer one

I had a great four-night stay here. I was in DC for a convention, and the hotel is within walking distance of everything. It is in the "heart" of DC. You have the majority of the tourist sites one way and cool neighborhoods the other direction. As for the hotel, the room was very nice. It wasn't anything spectacular, but it was highly spacious, including a spacious bathroom. The king-size bed was average on the comfort scale. I had decent views from the 8th floor. I highly recommend the breakfast buffet. I think it was around $30, and the food was terrific. The pastries were the star of the buffet. I also recommend going to the other restaurant/bar, Cure. They have delicious food and superb cocktails. The hotel doesn't have any standout amenities. Otherwise, I would have given it five stars. If you drive - be ready to pay a ton for parking overnight. I Ubered everywhere. Highly recommend this hotel, and I will stay there again.

AC UNIT EXPLODED AND HOTEL DID NOTHING Spent two nights at the Grand Hyatt Washington in December. The AC unit in my room did not seem to be working. No matter how high I turned up the heat, it kept spitting out cold air. Room temperature was about 62F and there are no extra blankets in the room, much less a bathrobe. I called the front desk to ask if there's anyway to crank up the heat. They say the only solution is to send an engineer to the room to see if "something is blocked." This doesn't sound like an ideal solution to me since it's 8.30pm, I'm tired, I want to go to bed, and it seems very unlikely that an engineer is going to fix an in-wall unit in good time. Front desk is insistent this is the only way. Engineer arrives around 8.40pm. He promptly drills the panels under the AC from off the wall and starts his work. I'm sitting on the bed watching and wondering how long it'll take. About 15 minutes later, there's a big EXPLOSION, with sparks and flames now shooting out of the hole in the wall. The engineer is thrown back, clutching is hand, which is burnt. He seems in shock and doesn't know what to do. He says he has to go back down the office. I tell him he needs to at least cool down his hand before he goes, and get him a wet washcloth from the bathroom. I'm left sat on the bed in a room that smells of electrical smoke and burned flesh, watching the unit in case it starts sparking again. Eventually the engineer comes back. He says he doesn't want to fix the panel given that there's obviously something wrong with it (I seriously don't blame him!) and that he told the front desk that this had happened and they should contact me. But I still haven't heard anything, so I call them. No answer. The engineer and I leave the room and I say I'll go down to the front desk to talk to them. When I get to the front desk I tell the receptionist "Excuse me, my room just exploded in flames." She keeps typing on the computer. I repeat myself, she finally looks up and says "What did you say?" I repeat the story, at which point she goes to get a manager. The manager says she was the one I spoke to earlier about the heating and she hadn't heard anything about what had happened. I tell her the story and that I need a new room since the first one now smells of electrical smoke, is still cold and also now feels unsafe. The receptionist gets me a new room, identical to the current one, says something about how the hotel has recently been renovated and has some kinks to work out. And that's it. After repacking and moving and unpacking my stuff, it's now around 9.30pm and a security guard knocks on the door of my new room to take an incident report. I tell her what happened. She leaves. After an hour+ of drama, I finally get to go to bed - though it's hard, because adrenaline is still rushing. In the morning, at checkout, I give back the two keys to a different receptionist. He asks if I had two rooms. I said "No, my first room exploded and I had to move to a different room ." Receptionist doesn't react to this at all and just says "Here's your receipt, see you again next time." To which I reply "Thanks, but probably not?" It's been almost a week since this happened and I haven't heard a word from the hotel. As above, there was no real apology the night of. No offer of an upgrade or even a free breakfast or help moving bags or anything. I hope the engineer is at least ok (he seemed to be when I saw him last). The reactions of the front desk staff would be funny except for the fact that it shows just how shockingly (haha) checked out they all seem to be. And I'm appalled that Hyatt seems to be fine with this state of affairs and the idea that AC units either won't work or may occasionally burst into flames if someone tries to fix them, leaving guests to triage their employees. I really don't expect a lot from hotels nowadays but there are three things I can't do without: 1) Heating 2) Appliances that don't burst into flames 3) Front desk staff that react with some degree of urgency and/or empathy when you use words like "fire" and "exploded."

I thought the Grand Hyatt Washington was somewhat of a luxury hotel, but it was just okay. Our experience wasn't as nice as we expected. Overall, it felt like a whatever stay that I could have gotten at a cheap hotel. They said they were doing renovations, so I hope they fix the issues below for future guests. Tips: They had water fountains near the restrooms below the lobby floor where you can fill out your bottles. They also provided 2 free water bottles each day, though you may have to call to request them (more details below). I think there was a microwave on each floor. Ask the front desk which room the microwave is in. They had a Starbucks near the entrance where you can get quick food and drinks. There was a Tatte Cafe nearby for good breakfast/brunch. Check-in issue: Our flight was delayed for hours, so we got there past midnight. In the past, I was able to check in to other hotels with no problem. However, when we got there, the receptionist was telling us that they cancelled our room because they did their audit at midnight and thought we weren't going to show up. We explained that our flight got delayed, and they didn't seem to care even though all flights to DC got delayed due to weather conditions that afternoon and we couldn't do anything about it. They said we should have called, but we didn't know that we needed to. For hotels with specific policies, they put the latest check-in time into the confirmation email or list it somewhere on their website. Grand Hyatt had no policies on late check-in on their website or in email communications they sent us. We waited 40-50 minutes until they were able to reinstate us and get us our rooms. Room issue: Maybe no one was using our room previously. The bed was a bit dusty. Same with the hair dryer. Hot water was not running until after we used the water for 30 minutes. Hotels usually have localized hot water for each room, so this problem doesn't happen. After the first night, hot water flowed fine on subsequent nights. My bed also felt dated and it was sinking like there's a dip in the bed. Housekeeping issue: No daily housekeeping. To get housekeeping, you have to request it 24 hours in advance. Not the day before, but 24 hours before. It would not be a big deal if not for the fact that the bathroom didn't have built-in dispensers for shower products like shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. It only came with a small tube of each product, so you'll run out after a day or so and have to ask the front desk for more. Amenities and fees: You're charged a $20 resort fee each day of your stay. They said it's for things like the gym, 2 bottles of water daily, etc. However, since there was no daily housekeeping, you have to call front desk if you want water. When we called, they said they only one runner to deliver stuffs to guests, so we have to wait 40 minutes until they can get to us. One runner for the entire hotel? It just sounded so silly to me that this was the kind of service they delivered.

We had a lovely stay at the Grand Hyatt on our trip to DC. We are World of Hyatt members and love staying at Hyatt in different cities. This is by far my favorite one! You cannot beat the convenience of this location. This has direct access to the Metro Center station, and we took both the metro rail and bus everywhere we went. The staff at this location are absolutely wonderful and SO helpful. When we first arrived from the airport at Metro Center station, we could not figure out which exit would take us to the hotel. I called and a staff member helped me out immediately. I also forgot my shower cap and my portable steamer, and they provided me both as soon as I asked. The bath products are from Balmain Paris which we thoroughly enjoyed using. We also used the gym. I am following a workout program and the gym had everything needed for me to complete it. I thought the high tech water machine and provided snack bars were a very thoughtful touch. They also have water stations to refill your water bottles with ice cold water which was also pretty convenient, as well as a microwave in the hallway! The decor is beautiful, and I appreciated the room layout as well. This hotel seems pretty geared toward people here for work, conferences, etc. There was a formal desk setup in our room, which I imagine would be helpful if you were here for work and wanted to set up your laptop. There is a Starbucks connected to the hotel lobby and we were there EVERY day. We also tried the breakfast buffet on our last morning here. The food was good, but I would not say it is worth $29/person to be honest. My ONE complaint is that I could not tell if the tiled shower floor was just discolored or dirty. I'm just very paranoid and germaphobic about shower floors. My fiancé said it was fine, but I was still paranoid whenever I showered. Overall, we will definitely be back the next time we are in town. Maybe we will upgrade to a suite as well!

Nice hotel near by everything you want in Washington DC. I feel like hotel have some remodeling but it quite, that is good. This hotel is big and very nice, because location is good, that near by coffee shop, shopping street, restaurants, grocery stores and capital area.

Stayed in a Grand Suite for NYE and we had an awesome stay! Our room was impeccably clean, our tub was amazing, and the Grand Lounge experience was quite pleasant. What we loved: -Grand Lounge had some yummy snacks/dinner items (pasta, meatballs, charcuterie, various dips and spreads, sandwiches, veggies, salad, sliders). The dessert bar was a bit underwhelming but still nice. -our room, overall, was incredible with a dope view. It was clean, massive (1.5 baths, king bed, dressing area/powder bar, shower and two-person tub, four-person dining table, living room, and more). What our hopes are for next time: -a slightly more comfy bed (one side was uncomfortable) -later breakfast hours in the club lounge (especially after a NYE stay) -additional breakfast buffet offerings (we got there like 10 minutes before they closed, tho) In all, we really enjoyed our stay and would gladly return. I liked my room here better than the Park Hyatt but the Park Hyatt's food is wayyyy better.

BEWARE: THE HOTEL IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION. I'M TALKING JACK HAMMERS, DRILLS, DEMOLITION SOUNDS OF ALL SORTS AND IT STARTS JUST AFTER 8AM EVERY DAY EXCEPT SUNDAY. THERE IS NOWHERE IN THE HOTEL WHERE YOU CAN NOT HEAR THIS! WE SPOKE TO EVERYONE WE RODE WITH IN THE ELEVATORS AND AT LEAST HALF COMPLAINED OF DUST COMING IN THEIR ROOMS. ONE GUY EVEN SAID HE WAS WAKING UP EVERY DAY WITH SINUS PROBLEMS. ITS TWELVE FLOORS AND THEY ARE GOING FLOOR BY FLOOR AND THEY ARE ON ELEVEN. There were no rooms ready when we got to the hotel. We were told to check our bags and come back in a couple of hours. No problem, we were a little early for check-in. We came back at 4:30. No rooms. There were about twenty or so people waiting. Around 6:30 we got our room. My wife had the audacity to ask for a room as far away from the so-called "renovations" as possible, their reason for the delay. Just after eight the next morning I thought the construction crew was coming through our ceiling. Unbelievable racket of chipping hammers and all sorts of stuff reverberating throughout the entire building. Called the front desk got transferred, put on hold, and then just hung up on. When I finally got through I was livid. The assistant manger was very argumentative and dismissive of the noise, sticking firmly to "well its on our website". One entire side of the building on the street and inside is lined with new materials and bins full of construction debris. We changed rooms, it wasn't any better. Do not stay here, there are plenty of other great hotels in DC. Not to mention all the other great ways to stay in a city. Now a short review of the hotel minus the construction. CHEAP! Dead pillows, single ply industrial toilet paper. Old step-in tub/shower combo's. No exhaust fans anywhere. A/C system was terrible. Did not cool well at all. We set it to 65 (lowest it goes) and were sweating all nite. The bed was made with the sheet on top? No microwave. More like a highway Motel than a GH in DC. Had a great time at the restaurant downstairs because of a waitress named Lilly. She was a 10 out of 10, and probably should be running the hotel. She knows more about customer service than every one of the other people we spoke to combined. Sorry for the rant, but I was just so disappointed. We have been to DC so many times, before we had kids, after we had kids, and now the kids go without us. But never had this happen.

What a beautiful hotel! I've been to this hotel in the past for day conferences, but I've never been here to stay and I'd never been to an event here that wasn't a conference. My company holiday party was held here and they utilized the foyer area for a cocktail hour outside of the ballroom which was used for the remainder of the party, dancing, dinner and dessert. But the hotel itself is beautiful. The layout of it, the pictures in this review from the 11th floor where our room was which show the architecture and the view down to the lobby. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room itself was nice and had all of the touches you would expect at a hotel of this caliber in downtown Washington, DC. From the extremely comfortable king size bed to the desk and work area to the nice size bathroom, it was everything we needed for an overnight stay in downtown Washington. If you were coming as a tourist, I think you would find it the same way as well as the restaurants in the hotel and around the nearby area. I would certainly stay here again and if you're looking for a hotel that is centrally located, I would highly recommend making a reservation and staying here. The only negative that I found was parking. $63 to park overnight is ridiculous. I found a parking garage less than 200 ft from the hotel and parked there overnight for $26, and that was super easy.

Basic hotel with lobby renovations, but the room is desperate need of an update. Upon entering the room I noticed the outdated bathroom with rust on the toilet and the wood shelves scratched. Then the room is simple and old. The bed is firm and the linen and towels are hard. Only stayed for one night, but probably would not return.

This place is massive and is super cool. Very safe, the restaurant next to it was great. It connected to the metro which was very nice. Room was clean, no noisy neighbors, all of the TV show were nice. The one bad thing was that one morning a lady, opened my door and said it was time to get up. Even though it was 9 in the morning. And if you want to watch and movie it is 21 dollars which is outrageous. So I didn't watch any. This place is super nice and if I went to d.c again I would stay at this place.

I was pleasantly surprised by how warm and welcoming all of the staff were at this hotel. It looked as if it were once an Embassy Suites hotel with the layout, but the rooms had been renovated and updated to have a more modern feel. I was pleased by the comfort of the room and the convenience of the location at Metro Center. The complete walkability of the area was refreshing. I was also pleased with the gift shop in the lobby, which had a good assortment of snacks, drinks, and souvenirs. I did not have a rental car and did not eat at the hotel restaurant so I cannot speak to those aspects of the stay, but I was surprised to see the Starbucks tucked into the corner by the exit on my last morning as I was heading to the airport. Next time I will surely make use of the mostly hidden from view Starbucks!

The lobby is stunning at this Grand Hyatt. It makes a good first impression when you arrive. I was able to check in early, and my room was impeccable. This Hyatt is huge, so it was a long walk to my room at the very end of the hall. But i didn't mind once I saw how nice the room was. The bed was comfy, so I slept well. Staff was friendly and helpful. You only get a free breakfast if you have access to the exclusive Club Lounge, which only some Hyatt rewards members can access. Because i was staying on my annual Hyatt rewards free night I could not use the Club Lounge, which sucked, especially since I was on the same floor as the lounge. It was right there teasing me. But why punish me for using the free night I'm entitled to? Access to the lounge would have made this a five star stay.

Zen garden in the middle of downtown DC! The rooms are modern and updated and the hotel is a classic full service hotel which includes amenities like breakfast, coffee, toiletries etc. Their theme reminds me of a zen spa with every detail in the rooms. The showers are massive, all tile and include spa scents which make for an amazing time at the end of a long day. The staff was really kind and I was able to check in early which is always a nice treat. Rooms are super spacious with plenty of room to work in them and enjoy time outside of just sleeping. Rooms include a personal loofah, robe, bath salts and other amenities to make your stay even more elevated. It's a bit pricier than other hotels downtown but totally worth it!

Outstanding hotel. Staff are very friendly. Parking is a little expensive but convenient. I am here for a conference and the hotel has great accommodations.

No hot water and breakfast was $32 for one person. And they don't tell you how much until after you eat. That's f'ing insane, and absolute robbery

I didn't find there to be much Grand about this Hyatt during a recent day stay. We started out nicely with a smooth checkin (good service) and a nice breakfast buffet (fairly rare). From there we just had a disappointing time. The room itself just wasn't very nice. It felt old, dated, and just a good bit beneath the price point and ostensible quality that the hotel wishes to broadcast. The heating and cooling system was particularly bad: we could not reach a comfortable temperature. It would either be too cold or too hot. And it was very loud. The bathroom was fairly meh too. Further, when we returned in the afternoon, our key cards had been deactivated due to an error by staff. I had to go back downstairs, which was an inconvenience considering we were basically as far away from the elevator as possible given the windy hallways. Some other hotels would have sent someone up instead. We have stayed at several places in DC. This was definitely the least impressive and not one to which we would be particularly interested in returning.

Beautiful hotel in a great location! We enjoyed our stay at the Grand Hyatt. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfy. They are under going a renovation but that did not interfere with our stay. We look forward to seeing the new decor on our next trip to DC. Highly recommend! :)

Clean hotel, friendly staff and close to everything. The gym is pretty big and has a water machine that has any water configuration you could want. I would not have any specific complaint except for the construction. I booked this for a conference so unfortunately did not go through their website. Lesson learned on my part. I came in a day early and was hoping to get some work done. When I checked in they told me there was construction and that we might have temporary water outages. Not a big deal because I'll be gone most of the day and will be showered before anything would happen. They told me to call the front desk if I had any issues with the construction. What they did not tell me about was the incredibly loud, what sounds like continuous jackhammering ALL day in the room next door. I asked the front desk if there was maybe a business center where I could work where it was a little less loud. She said the only spot would be the lobby. I'm not sure why they offer you calling for issues if there is nothing to be done. Honestly the wide open loud lobby is quieter than my room. Pretty disappointed in my experience here. I do NOT recommend staying here if you plan to work, sleep, or relax during your time here until after the construction is over.

Loveeeee it here!!! I can't wait to come back. I booked through booking.com. It was really quick and easy to book. Not long after booking a hotel staff messaged me through the app to ask if there was anything I needed and I requested a city view. They did not disappoint on that! Our room was super clean and nice and cold just how I like it. The atrium view from the top floors is also so pretty if you prefer an inside view. The hotel itself is really conveniently located in the city. It was a short walk to the capital one arena. There's lots of shops close by including Louis Vuitton, Gucci & Carolina Herrera. Everything was beautifully decorated for the holidays too! I will definitely stay here again. Highly recommend.

I used to love staying at the Hyatt but I feel they are quickly losing their appeal. This hotel is conveniently located in the heart of DC but the service was not up to par. In addition, they missed some small details that made a big difference. As an example, I wanted to make coffee in the morning but when I opened the coffee maker in the room, it was filled with dust. From my perspective, the rooms could use some renovations to bring it back to the Hyatt status I once knew and loved. This is a beautiful and clean hotel but I expected more.

Big fan of the Grand Hyatt Washington - so comfortable, stylish, and welcoming! Had an amazing sushi lunch at their Cure Bar & Grill. Breakfast was included w/our room. We picked up Lyft scooters right outside the hotel to get to/from museums. Speaking of museums, just saw the Hirschorn & especially enjoyed exhibits by Yayoi Kusama, Laurie Anderson, and Barbara Kruger. So much to do so close to this nice hotel!

Pictured below is a 'clean fresh towel' delivered to our room- stained and dirty! Upon check in we requested daily room service, which we did not receive. One day we had room service and they removed all towels and did not replace. Unbelievable service. Then, when we did receive service we were receiving dirty towels. Complaining to front desk did not resolve our issue nor did they offer compensation.

It is not just Grand, it is the "Great Hyatt Washington!" Bottom Line Up Front, this hotel knocked it out of the park. It matched or exceeded my expectations for cleanliness, customer service, comfort and value. However, it is pricey, but most things are in DC. The only detractor during our four-day stay was the location of the toilet paper holder in the hotel room, bathroom. It was on the wall, to the left, rear side of the seat making it difficult to reach unless you are a member of Cirque-du-Soleil, The check-in process was very smooth. You can choose to valet park ($63 overnight) or "self-park" your car ($45 per 24-hour) on-site. We chose to self-park and found it to be very convenient as we occasionally used our car. There is a payment station on the first floor of the hotel near the garage elevator so take your parking ticket with you after parking, and then you can pay as you return to the garage and access your car. There is a convenience store and a small souvenir store on the lobby level of the hotel. Additionally there is a Starbucks. There are several dining options including Cure Bar & Bistro, and CABINET of which we did not partake. However, utilize the Grand Club on the 12th floor. It was magnificent and the staff was extremely friendly. We could always find something delicious to eat (even for finicky eaters) at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Our little ones were especially fond of the desert hour (8:30-9:30 pm). Additionally, you could purchase alcohol in the Grand Club. The room was quiet, comfortable and clean! All in our party slept well! The dark out curtains blocked all the city light, and the climate control was easy to control. We used the fan to create white noise and did not hear any other noises. The fitness center on site was well-equipped. It was two floors below the lobby tucked away in a quiet location. It had free-weights, cable systems, several ellipticals, treadmills, bikes and a rowing machine. Additionally, there is an area where you can stretch and perform calisthenics. It is easy to get a well-rounded workout here! Additionally, it was very clean and had access to water and towels. They even have attractions for kids, such as family movies on Friday evenings with free popcorn. They also had face painting the weekend we were there. The hotel is located near several restaurants and is walking distance to many DC attractions and museums. For example, we walked to the Washington Monument; White House; Lincoln Memorial, National Galley of Art; and the National Children's, Natural History, and American History museums (but not all in the same day). We averaged about 6 miles of walking a day. I highly recommend this hotel if you are in the area and are looking for a quiet, comfy, and conveniently located hotel. They do offer special rates and offers, so I recommend planning ahead, check for discounted rates and specials in order to get the best prices. Worst place for sleep. While street noise interrupted my sleep each night the noise that was most difficult to ignore was from the flags above the entrance. The cable hanging from the flags knocked into the flag post swaying in the wind creating a loud echoing bang right outside my window. I asked if the cables could be tightened earlier in the afternoon and was told a message was sent to the engineers to take care of it. Bbut when I called at 4am after being awakened by the noise I was told the flags are managed by another company. I was offered earplugs. 30 minutes later they were still trying to find them. An hour later I called again and was told they didn't have any. So I didn't sleep. Lower level rooms 240-246 beware!!!!

Great hotel within steps from all the Smithsonian museums and high end clothing shops. We are absolutely in awe of the beauty and grandeur of the atrium. The glass roof above the atrium let in a flood of sunlight and it's just jaw dropping. We opted for breakfast and happy hour foods from The Lounge. It's worth it.

Check in process was easy. The toiletries in the rooms are nice. There is also a comfortable chair in the room. Room service comes daily. The lobby is gorgeous, and the location can't be beat. We used them for a professional event, and it was more expensive than I cared for, but the event planner was responsive and easy to work with.

I stayed at the hotel last weekend and I loved the location. It was in the center of town and I was able to walk to every destination that I wanted to see. The lobby is beautiful and the attached Starbucks is a huge plus. I have two gripes, though: 1) Is the Destination Pass a mandatory thing? 2) When did hotels start charging extra for early check-ins?

What an absolutely stunning hotel. When you combine a great location with a beautiful property and a great staff it makes for a great experience as a guest here. I don't think I have ever stayed anywhere in the USA or Europe with such a great staff. Everyone I have encountered treats me as if I am the most important guest there. From the bellman to the front desk and the restaurants the staff has been wonderful. This is clearly a well managed location and one they should be very proud of. The managers of this location must have a tremendous training program to develop this attitude among the whole staff. Bravo!!

This is a five star hotel. It is clean. Cost is on the expensive end. King size bed was comfortable.

The staff is wonderful, the location is great. But whatever they use to clean or if it's air freshener, the smell is so strong! It smells like a very strong perfume and its everywhere! I was able to open my window (only a bit, but it helped a little) so my room was ok, but then I had the street noise to deal with. If you get headaches easily from strong smells, you might want to pick a different hotel.
