Grand Palace Hotel

I stayed at this hotel for one night in September for my bridal preparations. The hotel positions itself as a five-star hotel, but unfortunately, it does not fully meet that standard. What really surprised me was that I received an automatic birthday greeting from the hotel on my birthday recently, which was nice. However, on my wedding day, there were no congratulations at all — not a word, not a small gesture, nothing. Honestly, this felt very poor for a hotel that claims to be five-star. I understand that the hotel may not have a formal practice of congratulating guests on special occasions, but this is something that should be improved. When guests stay with you for an important life event, a small acknowledgment really matters. We recently stayed at another hotel in Austria, where the staff gave us a handwritten card and a small bottle of wine so we could enjoy a glass together on that special day. These things do not cost much, but they make a huge difference in how you remember a hotel. The hotel itself feels a bit tired and not very new. Breakfast was good, and communication with the staff was pleasant. Overall, the stay was acceptable, but the experience does not fully correspond to a five-star level.

I can honestly say from start to finish this was outstanding! The moment the hotel welcomed us with a glass of homemade mulled wine and ginger cookies, we knew we were in for a treat. This hotel is beautiful and well appointed. The rooms are stylish with great modern finishes, yet holding onto old fashion charm. The breakfast provided was superb, and provided everything you would expect from a 5 star hotel and more. If you are considering a visit to Riga, then book this hotel. A perfect location & great Latvian hospitality.

Beautiful historical hotel in a perfect location. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Bathrooms in the guest rooms could use updating. The tub/shower combination was a very high step and had a tiny area to take a shower. Heated floors were a nice touch though! The bar made amazing drinks but unfortunately smoking is allowed so we quickly finished the drinks and left since the smoke was overwhelming.

When my son got married in Riga, our extended family stayed here. I cannot praise the staff enough! They are kind and professional. We filled the restaurant the night before where we had an excellent meal together and then all enjoyed breakfast in the stunning Orangery. The hotel even organised hairdressers for us. The rooms are spotless and luxurious and the hotel is situated in the heart of Riga. Whilst everyone is wonderful, I need to give a special shoutout to Marcis who took care of every detail.

Fabulous hotel and perfect location. The staff were ultra friendly, wonderful ambiance in the bar and the food was really tasty and well presented. The breakfasts were superb and Misha, the parrot, was a real bonus! We had the deluxe room and it was very spacious and comfortable. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Perfectly located, just a minute from the main square, where Christmas market is held. Very nice staff, good rooms and sauna area. Breakfast was good, with omelette station. The bar was nice, but beware, smoking is allowed, so your clothes will smell like they did when you came home from partying in the 1900’s

My father and I stayed for two nights as we explored Riga. ||First of all, the hotel is gorgeously appointed. The design, as you would expect, is immaculate. It is a small hotel, which I like. You see the same staff throughout your stay. This was a very good thing as we were helped by, and became friends with, the brilliant Gints. He told us where to visit in Riga, tailored to our interests, and his recommendations were spot-on. We will stay in touch with Gints as he we got on so well. ||The breakfast was great, too. Good omelettes made to order and Prosecco! ||The hotel graciously gave us late check out for free as I had some work calls. They were very nice about this. ||My apologies to the woman at the front desk on the day we checked out (2nd Nov), as I have forgotten her name. She was lovely and helpful, too.

We are here for three nights and have been very impressed with this beautiful hotel.||Location is spot on, right in the heart of old Riga and everything is in walking distance. It's grand, clean and the staff are very professional and helpful. ||Our room is a standard one on the fifth floor but we have plenty of space and everything we need. Bed is comfy and a good rainfall shower.||The breakfast is magnificent, a good spread with hot food made to order. The breakfast room is beautiful and there is also a friendly parrot called Misha. ||We had a couple of drinks in the bar last night including a lovely cocktail Amaretto Sour.||I would highly recommend this hotel if you are coming to Riga. It really is a touch of class
