On the Grid : Downtown Market

"The Downtown Market is newer to Grand Rapids but has a really great mix of local vendors that are all worth a try. They have a beautiful LEED-certified building with a green roof and offer a variety of classes as well as an outdoor farmers market in the summer." - Carnevale

On the Grid : Grand Central Market

"Pin Grand Central Market on your map if you're in Grand Rapids for an extended stay. It's the only spot in the heart of downtown to pick up basic groceries and personal care items. They also have a nice wine and beer selection if you want to bring something back to your hotel room. The deli is open for breakfast and lunch and offers a variety of fresh options, but most importantly, always has delicious baked goods." - Fairly Painless

A community-minded market hall and greenhouse filled with independent vendors—think artisan cheese, fresh bread, and small food counters. Frequently highlighted by national outlets for culinary browsing, it also incubates local food businesses and hosts pop-up events.

Assorted food vendors. Prices are pretty inflated at most places we visited. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the walleye fish and chips meal and the smoked salmon from Fishlads. I enjoyed the boneless wings from the Juju Bird and Brian was friendly. I would definitely skip tacos from Tacos El Cunado. No one was present and I ordered myself on a kiosk. The girl came back after and I asked to add lettuce and tomatoes to the tacos and she said okay. Luckily I looked before leaving and it was only beef in a tortilla. I ordered 2 tacos at 4.00 each and chips and salsa and guacamole for an additional 3.75 and somehow my order was over 17.00 . Food below subpar. I would also skip the lemonade at the Chewie Bitez as it tasted of fake powder lemonade definitely not fresh and ran over $17 for 2 without having any Boba in them, the huge brownie was also days old( dated) and extremely dry. The chocolates from Loves ran $3 per tiny piece but my kids really wanted to try them. Although they were beautiful they were extremely over priced for the quality and size. The kettle corn from Dorothy and Tony's was very good.

The Grand Rapids Downtown Market is a lively food hall with a mix of local vendors and more commercial offerings. It features a cheese bar with a good variety of cheeses and a large selection of wines, making it a great stop for cheese and wine lovers. The market also includes a bakery, various food vendors, a spice shop, and a place for handmade soap, offering a nice mix of specialty items. However, some visitors might find that the market leans a bit more toward commercial products than expected, rather than purely artisanal or locally crafted goods. Still, it’s a fun place to explore, grab a bite, and shop for unique ingredients or gifts.

Market is always a treat. Great environment, interesting food selection, international variety from entrees to desserts. Vintage Market was fun to shop too!

Google
What an outstanding market! A culinary dream come true. I’m not sure I could keep this review to less than 6 paragraphs if I got going, so I’m going to post some photos of my weekend instead. I hope everyone has a chance to experience how wonderful this market is in person. Great Job, Keep up the outstanding work.

We visited during the Christkindl Winter Market. Very nice market and a nice reminder of winter markets in Germany for my exchange student. She loved buying a beverage and sweets that she normally buys at the winter markets at home. We also went inside and had Greek food and sushi for dinner. Even though it was very crowded, we were able to find plenty of seating upstairs to eat our dinner.

Google
One of my favorite GR stops! A great example of a thriving community. Enough of a variety of shops to keep you satisfied, great place to purchase quality made treats and sit with friends to enjoy with. I love the greenhouse at the top floor seating and the fact that rainwater is collected and used to nurture the plants. Almost feels like a slice of paradise.

Google
Field & Fire love their fresh fire baked goods: bread, croissants, cookies, and danishes. Fun place to buy unique things for gifts/gift baskets. There is also ice cream, fresh meat, and seafood. Holiday market in the winter time. Free parking if you’re done in 30 min on the lot that surrounds the place.

Yelp
Visiting Grand Rapids for a long weekend, this was a place we were very excited to try! There is a good variety of places and the place overall is comfortable, clean, and a great space to spend an afternoon! We were able to visit during "Flight Fridays" - where several of the vendors have specials to try varieties. That was a great offering, as we knew we wanted to sample as much as we could in our limited time at the market. We arrived for lunch on Friday and decided we wanted more than we could eat at that time... so we left and came back a few hours later for dinner! The upstairs seating (elevator and stairs are options) has a great living green wall, comfy chairs, and a water bottle filling station. The upstairs also has a greenhouse and an event space with a test kitchen that I'm sure would be awesome to visit!

Yelp
Went here as part of my son's field trip experience after studying about food and nutrition. Our teacher made a fun scavenger hunt that was educational regarding urban gardening ideas, learning about new foods, and understanding sustainability while they searched for foods made in Michigan. So much fun and what a great and yummy experience. Now my son is asking when we can go back so he can try some food he's never had before. He even tried one of my sushi rolls today. I was so impressed. We will be back again, soon!

Yelp
Several years later, the DTM is still an incredible option for a good time in Grand Rapids. My family picked up some ice cream from Love's as an appetizer, I grabbed a coffee from Squibb's, and everybody got to pick something they liked for lunch. There are so many options, and the layout allows plenty of space so you don't feel cramped. Prices have gone up, but they have everywhere. Each person that served us was pleasant, especially at the cheese shop. Keep it up DTM!

Yelp
One of my favorite things I did recently on my trip to Grand Rapids, MI. What a beautiful marketplace that oozes Christmas. It truly felt like a Christmas holiday, while walking through the courtyard, indoor shops, outdoor vendors, etc. It was snowing lightly while strolling through the market which made it magical. Great variety of shops with awesome selection perfect for the holidays. Enjoyed my visit.
google avatar

Stacy K.

Yelp
We first came here several years ago during the summer to check out all of the great foods and crafts. This time we were here for the Christmas market which was fantastic. We also took advantage of eating around the market, getting some food from Carver, a burger and fries, and a mango lasi from the Indian food stand. We tried Love's ice cream, which is a favorite in GR, and so good. I love the concept of this place. It is like a Michigan version of Eataly. There are so many places I want to try, so I know we plan on coming back soon. They have plenty of seating upstairs and downstairs. This time, they had a Champagne and egg nog bar upstairs and places to sit, plus delicate little plants for sale. Downstairs they have crafts, foods to purchase to take home, quick take away and sit down restaurants. So many, how does one even decide. There is very convenient parking next to the market and across the road. I parked across the road this time. If you are in the GR area, and you love food, honestly, this is a must-do place to visit. If you live hear, you are lucky! I would eat here all of the time if I were closer.

Yelp
We went downtown to enjoy the 2nd annual Chriskindle Market. We were able to park near the market so the walk was not that long. The layout was very easy to navigate. I purchased a beautiful pair of gloves, some Greek and polish food that we took up into the atrium on the top floor of the market to eat. We enjoyed watching a game of curling. We spent around 2-3 hours walking the grounds and shopping. The restrooms are inside the market on the 2nd floor in the back and very well kept. I enjoyed the decorations and the Holland shoe cup we were able to purchase with our drink in the beer garden. Everyone who we ran into staff wise was very kind and friendly helped us navigate our way.

Yelp
Have a crowd with picky eaters? Come here to satisfy everybody's craving. Located downtown, is basically a building full of restaurants, desserts and drinks to choose from. They had tacos, burritos, seafood, Thai food, sushi, bbq, etc. not to mention the desserts! We tried a little of everything. I got the salmon bites which came with fries-delicious. The salmon could've used a bit more seasoning but overall cooked perfectly. I got a pistachio dessert; it was good and full of creme inside. My husband's chicken pad Thai was delicious! Recommend! For dessert we got a caramel latte but it was ok. Didn't care too much for the acidity of the coffee. The Michigan shaped chocolate ice cream made up for it though! I had to get it for the gram! Not only are there food stands, there are other cute stores for spices, wine, soda, and olive oils. Plenty of parking but you do have to pay when exiting. Cool experience. Wish we got to see the plant section upstairs but a wedding reception was in that space area.

Yelp
This is the place to go if you want a quick bite, you're indecisive on what you want to eat or you're with a group of friends! I love the variety of options you have in here. My personal favorites are Rak Thai, Cafe de Miro, Rad Bagels and Tacos el Cuñado. I'm still mourning the loss of Alt City which was my favorite coffee spot. This time I ordered basil fried rice with chicken from Rak Thai and my friend got a chicken wrap from Juju Bird. I will say that one time I ordered curry fried rice from Rak Thai and I was disappointed because there appeared to be no curry seasoning. I did call them about it and they were nice enough to let me order something else, but I've never ordered curry from there again. Overall the market is a great place but I wish the greenhouse was open more often. They are never open when I go in the summer.

Carrie G.

Yelp
I love it when cities have a market like this. You get to experience lots of regional specialties in one setting. They also have a Christmas market which is amazing. On this trip, we stopped in for lunch and landed at Carver's for some sandwiches and burgers. Their Cubano is pretty good but the show stopper (somehow) was their cheeseburger. Field and Fire had some goodies to offer as well so we had to try a flight of pastries. So good AND they supply pastries to MadCap Coffee! Bonus! There are many food vendors to choose from and we love trying new things every time we're there.

Yelp
Decent place to go with a group that has divergent tastes, but not a lot of seating. A tour bus pulled in, I expect that is a frequent occurrence. Went for the Boho market, which was cool.
google avatar

Abigaile W.

Yelp
This place was cool. We were in Grand Rapids for a hockey weekend and wanted to do some touristy things to end our trip. The market has a lot of good food options and groceries. We had bulgogi beef, spring rolls, and potstickers from Rak thai. Everything was delicious. We also had boneless garlic parm wings from Juju Bird chicken and sides. They were delicious and very saucy, which is how I like them. The service was good at all the stalls I visited.

Rachel F.

Yelp
Awesome variety of little shops. Great way to spend an afternoon getting lunch, buying gifts, picking up some specialty items. Lots of seating upstairs next to the greenhouse. Will be coming back later in the month for the vintage/hand-made market.
google avatar

Lindsey K.

Yelp
I will always find an excuse to go to the market when I am in GR. Whether you want coffee, sweet treats, sushi, wine, or fresh fish or meats, they have what you are looking for. Great for a girls afternoon, lunch date, or wondering solo.
google avatar

Yelp
The farmers market was so cute for Christmas! I absolutely loved the options we had available for snacks and drinks. Definitely a fun place to hang out and have a good time.

Yelp
I've been wanting to go to the Downtown Market for so long and it did not disappoint! This is officially one of my favorite spots in Grand Rapids - hands down! I absolutely love markets and food halls where there are just so many unique shops and stalls open and available for you to peruse in one space and that is exactly what Downtown Market is! I wish I lived closer so I could come here all the time to explore every little corner of this market! They have so many different options here: coffee, oils & vinegars, spices, meats & cheeses, bread, poke, soda shop, ice cream - the list goes on and on for all the vendors and stalls here! There's also a second floor with a greenhouse that was closed to the public for a wedding ceremony and additional seating up there for whatever you buy and want to eat here and people watch! It's just truly beautiful and I love it so much! Wish there was something like this in the SE Michigan area as well, but I'm hard pressed to find it! Love you, GR Downtown Market!

Yelp
Great place to stop to get a flavor of Grand Rapids. We enjoyed Italian beef sandwich and fries, specialty soda pops, loves ice cream, and sampled some specialty desserts. Basically we spent our money at almost every stall! Find the elevator stairs for additional seating upstairs inside and out. One restroom located on the second level, wish there was one on the main floor.
google avatar

Yelp
The GR downtown market is an all time favorite, the location is perfect and they have parking. First half hour is free so if you are doing takeout it's perfect. If you stay longer it's only a couple extra dollars so not bad. If you have visitors it's a great place to come so everyone can get what they are craving. It's one of my favorite places to stop by for a quick lunch in between work :)
google avatar

Yelp
If you've been to other cities' markets, this one may be a little unexpected. Instead of being in some repurposed warehouse, Grand Rapids's market looks almost intentionally made for such an establishment. The interior is very corporate, very clean and tidy. That being said, those can be pluses too. Lots of parking available nearby, though it's quite expensive. It's not that big inside so you can very feasibly be in and out within the 30 minutes free parking if you wanted. Not too many shops inside to browse. Would probably skip this place as a tourist.

Justice N.

Yelp
I highly recommend the Christkindl Markt. This was my second visit and I tried the stinky cheese sandwich. It was actually fantastic even though it has such a pungent smell. The shops are cute and fun. As for the actual downtown market, there selections are huge. This is the place to shop for any exotic spices and foods. Crazy stuff I have never seen or tried. I highly recommend checking them out.
google avatar

Yelp
An awesome place with tons of places to eat! You'll find somewhere for everyone in your party to enjoy. If you are coming with a large group, there are not a ton of seating options.

Beth Allyn C.

Yelp
Let me begin by saying I am retired Chef and restaurant owner, my grandson and I went downtown to have an early lunch, we got there at 10:50am, mkt wasn't even open yet despite the fact that some of its venues inside offer breakfast items for consumption there(they don't open earlier any day) so we walk around to see what maybe we would like to eat and we proceeded to check 3 places and NOT ONE of them were ready to serve anyone, the earliest we could get anything was maybe in 10 minutes, and that was from a booth that had ABSOLUTELY no one working that could speak English I KNOW MAX and I will NEVER go back, oh the bakeries were ready and even my 14 yr old grandson was SHOCKED when I paid $10 for one piece of cake, he did the math and said he was going to start baking cakes and selling
google avatar

Yelp
Really loved the concept of this and couldn't wait to go. Parking was available across the street, but took forever waiting in line to get into the lot due to it being so busy(it was Saturday). There were cute vendors and some interesting food stalls, including potato pancakes, crepes, and of course the raclette cheese stall, but the lines were so long we decided to go eat elsewhere and didn't get to try anything. Recommend trying to go when it's not so busy, the lines were out of control and unless you have hours to blow standing in the cold (and it was drizzly out when we went), it wasn't worth it.
google avatar

Daniel E.

Yelp
A bachelor party of 7 men needed options for a place to eat. *Enter Downtown Grand Rapids Market* Great options all on the first floor. Yah like sushi? Maybe a hot chicken sandwich? A burrito? Aged burger? All options here. A ton of local food both produce and packaged. The second floor was really neat as it had a green house, seating to eat, and large event space with teaching kitchens. Maybe you could reserve this space for your event? You would probably be pretty cool if you did.
google avatar

Yelp
Can all markets be like this please? I thought we were spoiled in Indianapolis with ours but..... this just raised the bar quite a bit. First off, free parking (up to 30 minutes) in a lot directly by the market. Nothing is worse than when you're visiting from out of town and have to pay for parking (well, it's always the worst, lol). Secondly, there are lots of great options to choose from: fancy chocolates, baked goods, sodas and odd drinkables, pizzas, and more. One thing I would have liked to see more is more diversity in the cuisines. That felt like it was lacking, at least for me, as a visitor from out of town. My favorite part: the upstairs greenery and greenhouse area. It was gorgeous and so unexpected. There was a special event going the first time we visited and it was sadly closed the 2nd time (not sure why). It should tell you we made a pit stop in GR on our way home solely to visit this place. Special shout out to Gaby's new bakery inside the shop for making those delicious cookies! COVID update: on our 2nd visit (middle of May 2021), they allowed fully vaccinated guests to not wear masks inside!

Yelp
We were in Grand Rapids and saw this place on Yelp. While walking around we found many stores that interested us. We had lunch, bought popcorn and found spices. We were. very happy we stopped by for a visit. Give this place a try!

Yelp
This spot is great for those who are undecided about what they want. There is a selection of restaurants, bakeries, beverages, cheese, and shops. I like Field and Fire bakery, Pho 616, and the Madcap cafe. Upstairs has a beautiful greenhouse for private events. It also has additional seating and restrooms. There are also cooking classes you can sign up for. I like the multi-purpose dimension of this space. It is located at the edge of Downtown and near some awesome breweries.
google avatar

Yelp
The Downtown Market is a really cool venue that has food vendors, market stalls, special events, cooking classes, greenhouses, and private parking. It's a good place to go with out-of-towners or a group as there is something for everyone. You can get sushi, Thai food, seafood, burgers and sandwiches, Vietnamese food, bubble tea, BBQ, tacos, cupcakes and cookies, fancy chocolates, new American, ice cream, cheese and charcuterie, fresh pressed juice, cocktails, beer, and fried chicken--just to name a few of the food options! There are also vendors selling olive oils, Michigan made products, local meat, seafood, tea, spices, and to-go food. You really have to check it out--it's a one of kind place in Grand Rapids, with similar markets in other larger cities. My favorite things in the Downtown Market are Carvers for the $5 burger special, fried chicken at Juju Bird, and sugar cookies at Sweetielicious. I'm still mourning the loss of Rocket Pies, one of my favorite pizza places that has since closed. I follow the Market on Facebook and get their email newsletter to learn about the great events they host all throughout the year, including special themed food days, a vintage market during the summer, ice bar in the winter, car shows, animal days, etc. They even host private events like wedding receptions in the greenhouses upstairs! The cooking classes are really popular and I'm looking forward to taking my first one later this month. My only complaints are the limited seating options if you're eating at the Market--only about five of the food vendors have their own designated seating. There are tables scattered around the Market and some upstairs, but it can get crowded during peak times. Another thing I miss is extended free parking, but you still get the first 1/2 hour free and the lot is large. Plus there is metered street parking available. And finally, I think they could use more restrooms on the main level.
google avatar

Allison R.

Yelp
My fiancé and I stopped by the downtown market to grab lunch and check out their banquet/wedding/reception area. The market was crowded both up and down stairs, and they had quite a few options for food and drinks. We settled on Cafe de Miro and enjoyed it (see my separate review on their business page!). We also tried Alt City smoothies (separate review on their business page as well!) and grabbed some small Peruvian red peppers to try from Apertivo. We enjoyed our short visit and look forward to trying other restaurants in the market next time we venture to the area.
google avatar

Yelp
Second time grabbing lunch (first time was about a year ago.). Excellent selection and awesome food. I had the Mexican and it was great. Sally had a Thai rice bowl she loved. One of our favorite places to go for a great counter service meal.
google avatar

Jill S.

Yelp
Mediocre at best. We ate at a place similar to one in Toronto and was hoping this would be just as good. My son ordered from Carvers: tasty but super small portion size. My daughter and I both ordered from the seafood place Lad's?): My fish tacos were tasteless. I'm spoiled with Happy's Taco Truck (Petoskey/TC) so I was hoping they would be amazing. They weren't. My daughter ordered the crab cake. It was better than the tacos. I'll give it that. My husband and youngest ordered from the chicken place. It was ok but my husband didn't get what he ordered and didn't realize it until after we left. I'd probably try it again but eat other places.
google avatar

Ashley J.

Yelp
Best place to settle the where do you want to go to eat question. There is something for everyone. Burgers, seafood, Thai, tacos, BBQ, and other treats. It would be five stars, but it grinds my gears it closes at 7 p.m. It makes sense in the winter, but summertime would benefit from a 8 p.m. closing time. Ice cream shop is open later in the summer. Smart move by them. Seating upstairs, outside, and dedicated nooks for certain stalls. May be a little loud for those sensitive to noise at peak times. I would not recommend for really large groups to try and find seating. Parking is free in the lot for the first half hour. Metered parking at a nearby lot and on the street. Walkable from the Canopy, but may encounter some homeless people.

Yelp
Decent atmosphere...a lot of OVERPRICED food...also bathroom is sketchy on the 2nd floor NOT very kid or handicap friendly!

Yelp
Downtown Market! ⁣ ⁣ Where do we even begin?! The Market is all about local food, goods, and experiences dedicated to building a healthier community. ⁣ ⁣ Inside you'll find a grand 20+ vendor hall, 2 restaurants, a beautiful greenhouse, special event spaces, an incubator kitchen, and spaces to catch up with friends and collaborate with coworkers. ⁣ ⁣ Outside you'll see a live wall, a rain garden, and other sustainable features. ⁣ ⁣ Downtown Market serves as a focal point in the city and is revitalizing a previously neglected area & we love it! ⁣

Yelp
If you're from a major city and visiting Grand Rapids, the Downtown Market will make you feel most at home in this mid-sized Midwest city and proof that Grand Rapids is changing and worthy of national attention. Here's why: 1) The location: It's in downtown Grand Rapids where you can see the few tall buildings nearby and walk to some other fun shops and restaurants. Don't worry about parking. They have a few lots and parking is really cheap- $2 for a few hours. 2) The space- It's an indoor market two story market with stores and restaurants on the first level. They have a Thai food stall, a bakery, a BBQ joint, a small grocery store and even a coffee shop (Madcap). They also have a few other stores selling Grand Rapids made products (I recommend visiting the Michigan Awesome store, where you can get cherry anything including cherry maple syrup). The second level has plenty of seats (as does the first level), a ballroom, and a green house (which comes in handy when it's sooooooooooooooooo freaking cold). 3) The price- For Grand Rapids, of course the price is a little steep, but if you come from a bigger city, you'll find it cheaper than a NYC, DC, SF, or LA. Grand Rapids should be proud of the Downtown Market and if you need a fun afternoon, go there for lunch and walk around.

Yelp
I LOVE the downtown market! There is a good variety of food to eat and a perfect place to go with a friend, a date, or even by yourself for lunch. There are public bathrooms upstairs and parking is free for the first 30 minutes, $2 for the next 30 mins, then $1 per half hour after that.

Yelp
Slice of heaven in Grand Rapids #prayerheard My favorite place in GR, West Side, and all of Michigan (that's food-related) Downtown Market is a successful open-space market that houses many different types of food, drink, retail businesses while offering a gorgeous space for special events, date night, family outings, etc. The upstairs 2nd floor has a greenhouse and I wish Downtown Market wasn't so greedy in hosting events all the time and opened the greenhouse to the public :) It's pretty to admire from a distance nonetheless. Plenty of chairs and tables to sit and enjoy your pad thai and boba milk tea from Rak Thai or delicious carnitas taco from Tacos el Cunado or Michigan-shaped chocolate bar from Love's Ice Cream. Whatever you get, you're going to enjoy it! The vibe here is definitely more hipster upscale yet casual which really hits home for me, reminding me of California. I go here weekly as my rewarding escape and pay my homage to the local businesses there. Not only are there shops, there are cooking classes and opportunities to host a special event there (weddings are super popular wow!). It can get crowded on Friday and weekends but I've never felt overwhelmed. It's wonderful to study, eat, break, etc. here. The staff from all businesses are welcoming and the quality of the products are top notch. I'll keep coming back every week!

Yelp
Wow, what a beautiful market. A lot of great vendors and the market is green. It's too bad I just ate a huge breakfast elsewhere because I could definitely eat may way through the market. Good place to find some unique food gifts from Michigan.

Yelp
Love this place! So many options to eat. Thai food there is great. Love's ice cream is the best!

Yelp
We stopped by this market twice on different occasions and for sushi lovers, let me tell you, you must try their sushi. I purchased two roll combo for $15 and boy oh boy were they delicious! Still thinking about how good, fresh, and tasty they were. I keep raving about them and the second time I went there, got the same thing, same quality of goodness. Good sushi for a good price is a rare find. Other than that, we got some delicious bread there to take home. We also tried their ice cream on the way out which was really creamy and good. I would say on the same level as moomers but I'm not an ice cream expert. We received exceptional service both times we were there and you can eat what you purchased there. There's a lot of tables there, clean environment. Really happy to find this place. Warning: you can leave quite a bit of money there because everything is so delicious. Plus: the market is inside which makes this a good trip on a rainy day.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is pretty cool. You can get everything from Slows BBQ (on the West side of the state, what?! I know!) to ice cream to fresh meats, cheeses, and desserts. We purchased tacos from the taco place and also ice cream from Love's, both were delicious. There are some small sitting areas downstairs (Love's, Social Kitchen, and Slows has larger areas) but I'd recommend going upstairs to sit in the greenhouse area - it's a large, open space full of windows and plants. Interesting and very pretty. Next time I'd stop by Slows or Social Kitchen, the Bham SK location is right by me but I've never been, and the Detroit Slows location is delicious.

What a beautiful venue! My friend brought me here for a late lunch while I was visiting from Indianapolis and I was impressed by the hustle and bustle of this cafeteria-style city market. You will definitely find something for nearly any palate within these walls. What I also loved about this place was all of the greenery on the second floor of the building. It's a little over-priced with what it is, but definitely worth it if everyone is wanting a different thing to eat.

Yelp
Phenomenal atmosphere with amazing culinary options for every palette made to perfection! Excellent pantry items too. Every hot sauce or spice rub you could ever imagine. Unique cocktail garnishes and charcuterie ingredients for the perfect party or night in. Teas, sodas, confections, pastries, so much to remember. Love this place!

Yelp
Upon entering I was overwhelmed with the options. Go online and look at the options so that you're not wandering around when you're hungry. The food and experience was great. Food is fresh and real. You have to pay for parking if you want to park at the market but it's not expensive. Lots of cooking classes available and they even have live music which is probably one my favorite things about restaurants. My on criticism is that if you want alcohol you must sit at that restaurant because the liquor license is only good in that small space so there is no mix and match. I ate at juju chicken and the spicy chicken sandwich was amazing. Very juicy and of course spicy.

Yelp
A well-rounded go-to spot for one person to large groups. The food court offers variety, including the kind of dining environment one desires. An alternative is to buy food to-go then dine upstairs where the noise level significantly reduces and greater serenity: less people traffic, a greenhouse, warm natural materials, and closest proximity to the public restrooms. They have grocery carts and baskets for those who desire to browse and shop instead of dining. The majority of Downtown Market food vendors/restaurants source their food from local farmers. The building is handicap friendly, offers outdoor dining in warmer months, and off-street parking for a small fee.

Yelp
I stopped by the Downtown Market with my family after it was recommended to us for lunch. There are so many options here! For food, I saw options for seafood, sushi, barbecue, Thai food, smoothies and açaí bowls, a small market, and more! There was bubble tea, a small bakery, olive oil, and cupcakes (heart eyes emoji). The best part of the Market in my opinion is the upstairs seating area. There's a greenhouse. And you can sit in it!! It is beautiful - they have plants for sale, too. I've heard there are weddings in there and everything. I wish I had eaten up here, so I'll just have to next time I'm there :) This is a fun place and I'll definitely be coming back to check out the different food options (I had Fish Lads - see my review on that!). Everyone in your party should be able to find something they like here!

Yelp
We really enjoyed visiting here during our attempt at a pandemic safe getaway. Hand sanitizer at the door, everyone masked, lots of food choices despite several shuttered doors, and the outdoor eating huts. The SO had a poke bowl from Pink (something?) and I had the grilled fish and salad from Fishlads. His was fresh, but would have done better to have warm rice and more seasoning. If we were eating there, we might have been able to adjust that. My salad was so good. The seasonal fish was swordfish, grilled and dressed with butter sauce. Pickled onions, cherry tomatoes, and mixed greens. Nice to have a non-carb option in Grand Rapids. I love food markets like this... Ambience, food choice, Don't quite have this in the Detroit area (maybe the Detroit Shipping Company?), but love these in other countries. Enjoy! =)

Yelp
Grand Rapids, I am jealous. This is one mighty fine market. It was overwhelming in the best way possible. Interested in baked goods? They've got a delightful dessert vendor in Sweetie-Licious Bake Shoppe. Like your baked goods of the bread persuasion? Field and Fire will get you going. Craving sweets? Grocer's Daughter chocolates and Love's ice cream will hook you up. Savory? They've got tacos, Korean, Italian, seafood, and more. Throwing a party? Aperitivo has got meats and cheeses. Thirsty? How about some freshly squeezed juice from Malamiah Juice Bar or coffee from Simpatico? Cooking at home? Cuts of meat from Montello, fish from Fish Lads, veggies from City Produce, and spices from Spice Merchants will round out your meal. Thornburg and Company has got your jam and the most amazing bourbon maple syrup. Grab some popcorn from Dorothy & Tony's Gourmet Popcorn and brighten up your home with some fleurs from Crescent Floral. The facility itself is fantastic. It's new so it's very open, bright and airy. There's a second level upstairs for dining along with kitchens for cooking classes, community gathering areas, and a green house. Tons of light which was perfect on a sunny day. In the summer time you'll find a farmer's market in the outdoor stalls. Right. On. A lot of the reviews complain about the price and while I do understand that to some degree (most of this will be special occasion or splurge foods) a lot of what you're paying for here is quality. Sure, it's easy to buy cheap food but that cheap food usually isn't good food. This? This is good food. Quality ingredients that won't poison you and make those indulgences like ice cream or chocolate feel a little less bad. One walk around as you look at the beautiful meats, healthy looking fresh fish, bright jams, crusty bread, and more will prove it. You are darn lucky, Grand Rapids. Enjoy it!

Yelp
Very cool place to spend too much money. Nice clean and modern. It has wine bar, spices, seafood market, cheeses, produce, meats, brads, olive oil, ice cream, tacos, desserts...and I am probably forgetting some. All different vendors, of course. You can tell they visited and learned from places like Seattle's Pike Market and others. We went late (5 p.m. on a Saturday) it's open until 7:00 p.m. and while not crowed, there were quite a few customers. I love it is open Sundays until 7. We had no problem scoring a parking place in the lot at that time. Indoor market is open every day. Definitely a positive addition for downtown G.R.--which is beginning to feel like a real city :)
