So the front desk told my Mom, as she was checking us in, that my service dog would have to be checked in by the security guy at the bell desk.
Now, the security guy at the bell desk was friendly about it, asked me the questions he is allowed to ask, and then told me that the front desk should have taken care of it, as he's no longer necessary to this particular process. So he asked me to wait, told me I could have a seat, and then as near as I can tell, called over to the front desk and talked to them about the fact they should have handled it rather than send me to him.
Which, yah, valid phone call to make (and I cannot stress enough that he was at least very jovial and pleasant with me, I have no complaint about his demeanor or professionalism) BUT... this seems like a phone call that could have happened after I left. There did not seem to be a point in making me wait for this phone call at all.
I will stress that this interaction is their single star, even though it seemed weird to make me wait for nothing. Because he was nice about it.
Here are the things that were bad about this Hotel/Casino
Accessibility:
- the disabled parking is ridiculously far from the entrance, There are (that we could find) two areas of disabled parking one in the front by the valet and one round the back. the one in the front is way far from the actual doors, and very difficult to get to.
- once you are inside, hotel check in is an amazingly long hike to the far corner on the right, so imagine two old ladies with canes and luggage and a service dog, at an altitude our lungs were no longer used to, trying to get to the check in desk.
- Once you are done checking in, there is another freakishly long hike to the elevators.
-The disabled parking round the back is a straight up nightmare to find from the outside, AND the inside, and a very long walkway to get to the hotel, and once inside again you are nowhere near the front desk or the elevators.
Room specific stuff:
-the room itself was okay, except the adjoining room, the door between us and the guests on the other side of it was PAPER-F'ing-thin. We could literally hear everything they were saying. And nice as they were, (BTW, I hope your dad has an awesome time on his fishing trip, and your kids sound like a riot), I'm sure they did not enjoy listening to us kibbutz over plans for the day at 6 in the morning.
-The power went out for 4 hours. This happened at the exact moment my Mom returned to the room, so luckily her key card had unlocked the door just in time for her to get in. I called down to ask if they had an ETA on when the power would come back on, and was told, "Something got wet and probably shorted out, and they did not know when it would be fixed"
No other explanation was ever given. no apology, and no attempt at making up for it with a discount or anything was offered.
Just from 830-ish pm to 1230-ish am, no power. (this was a sunny mid september day with no inclement weather at all, so what got wet and where and how? ALTHOUGH, I should say, it did rain a little the next day, but that night and the day preceding it were clear as a bell)
Casino specific stuff:
-the casino was just sort of "meh" we couldn't find our favorite slots, and the few we did play were quick to suck down the money. I don't play expecting to win a lot or even anything, really, I consider it paying for some entertainment. But I do expect about an hour's worth of play on a penny slot for 20$, and at most casinos I am not disappointed. Here the slots were super tight for a weekday. it was maybe five minutes of play, so not a lot of fun, and I gave up after the first 20$ got swallowed.
