Grandpa's Brick Oven Pizza

Came here with my husband on a weekday and we ordered a whole pie of white pizza for $31.99 and ate some slices, each had a drink and took our leftover slices to go. It was a decent white pizza, but not the yummiest white pizza I’ve ever had to be honest. Service was great, employees were very kind and we received our order very fast! I gave 4 stars instead of 5, because compared to Inwood Pizza, Grandpa’s prices are a tad bit on the expensive side.

1 cheese is 4,60 and its not even big its thin and small and the taste wasn't really much. It would be alright if it was 2 dollers but 4,60 is crazy. If u want good pizza for 2,50 go to 204 W 231st St, Bronx, NY 10463 joes brick oven. It's way more better and will satisfied you more. The people there are amazing and are very welcoming. Go to joes instead of this place . Worth the money.

I love Grandpas pizza, but come on!! Every time I come their slices look smaller. If I am paying $6.26 for a slice a pepperoni I would assume I would get a big slice of pizza , right? Next time, I would just point to the slice I want 🤣

Pleasant atmosphere and attentive service but the vegan prima vera is NOT worth the $40 that my wife and I paid. Online the price is "$27.57", they don't mention that there are three sizes, all of which are more than that price and you only learn this upon entering the establishnent and reading the in-hand menu. We ordered the 16" version. Toppings like arugula and vegan chorizo are good but they didn't give us nearly enough vegan chorizo and the substitute vegan cheese had this weird texture that kind of ruined the experience. Also why corn kernels?! Was not satisfying and I was still feeling hungry even after eating three slices, I hope it isn't because of some reaction I had to the "cheez" Not worth the money, cannot recommend for ethical eaters until they upgrade the ingredients to justify the boutique prices

I have ordered a lot of pizza from here online. Pizza comes on time. Pizza taste fairly good. But When the delivery person comes you give them $20.00 bill they never have change and the delivery person tips himself and does not give you the correct change back. No more ordering from this pizza place anymore. 😳

Great place to grab a slice of amazing pizza from the flavor to the freshness you can’t go wrong!! We eat here once a week!! The owner is kind and friendly thanks for being awesome. Love coming and enjoying time with the family in a quiet place

Person who took my order very polite. Sauce on pizza needs to change. I've bought sauce at supermarket much better. This is why I stop ordering. Not good. Person who delivered polite but no change at all. I literally could not eat my 2 slices there was a taste that scared me if I ingested I could be sick. .

Some of the best pizza around, and also great pepperoni rolls. We have eaten there and ordered delivery via the Slice app and have always had great meals. They have nice outdoor seating when the weather is good, but when we got delivery recently the order came so quickly the pizza was piping hot and didn't even need reheating!

Friday evening after a long week of hard work summons Happy Hour for red Sangria. Happy Hour for Sangria at $5.00 is surely alluring to be a resolute joy. The outdoor A-frame Happy Hour signage between 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm captured my attention. It was not served chilled cold, but disappointedly room temperature with chopped fruit red apples, and oranges in a wine glass. There was no lemon embedded in the drink either. Customer service is adequate for seating, serving and payment collection. I requested a glass of cold water, but received a plastic cup of tap room temperature water. I prefer in-door seating to absorb an cool air conditioning atmosphere on a very hot and humid NYC summer day. Grandpa's Brick's air conditioning is working. I profoundly miss my paternal Grandfather. I will never see him in corporeal form again. No comment on food as I did not intake any here at Grandpa's Brick Oven Pizza. Nota bene: Grandpa's Brick Oven Pizza is easily accessible by MTA's buses BX7; BX20 and A train at 207th Street in Inwood, Manhattan, NYC.

We ordered a pizza for delivery on a Sunday night and it took an hour longer to get delivered. When we called the restaurant they put me on hold and refused to own up to their mistake. What a waste of time and money!

If you want the sh**ttiest pizza, go to Grandpa's Brick Oven. It's awful. Trash. They are a disgrace to Inwood. Ordered online, so can't comment on service, although the pizza was delivered on time. I have been there and seen the ambiance, then walked straight out.

WILDLY OVERPRICED. 1 beef patty, 1 buffalo pizza slice & 2 soda = $20 There's no way this order can even make sense to charge $20 Looks pretty on the outside, but robbing the customers blind!! NEVER AGAIN!

I ordered a Grandma's small pizza pie. I picked it up and it was equivalent to 2 slices of pizza. I have always known Grandma slices to Be like a thinner Sicilian slice. This was like a small personal pie and the cost was $23. What a waste of money. It wasn't even good. The photo say it all. Like a cracker with sauce and little cheese. Never again!!!

Too expensive for what you get! A small pizza with pepperoni for $20, and a few soaky wings for $16???? Pizza is below ordinary. These two items were $50 with delivery! Never again.

Been ordering regular here for a few years. Prices have gone up, service down. Ordered a pie tonight. Over 1 hour later, $30 cold pizza delivered. Called up and was told "you know it's cold outside". Won't be ordering from here again. Disappointing.

You can definitely tell the team here has quit trying. Between the lackluster flavor to their food and the all-out price gouging, they should rethink their business model. I understand as well as anyone the plight of small businesses since and actually before covid but here's an example of how NOT to treat your customer base. Sadly, the Grandpa's is taking clear advantage in the incredibly tough to swallow raised prices with no maintaining or improving their quality standards. The fact that their closest competition geographically is even Worse (Pizza Haven) is the only reason they're getting any traction and the better pizza places don't cover this area any longer which is unfortunately sad. If you want suffer highway robbery and have a less than stellar pizza experience, you can just order once (so you can say you gave them a fair shot) and you'll agree it's not worth the return experience. Definitely added to my 'will not go back ever again list)

We ordered a small pizza to be delivered last night. It was 1/2 sausage. 1/2 mushroom. I appreciate that they called back to clarify if I wanted the toppings mixed or mushrooms on one side and sausage separately, good service! The sauce and toppings were scant. I ordered fettuccine alfredo with shrimp. They literally only gave me 3 shrimp. I paid an extra $7 for 3 little shrimp. Not even decent size shrimp. This was basically a $30 meal. Absolutely unacceptable. Any business that is WILDY overpricing the value of their food is stealing from their community. Food was good but I don't support bad business practices like this. Never again.

Might just be the most expensive slice in the 'hood? $6 for a specialty slice (essentially any slice with a topping) is steep for mediocre pizza. My chicken/veggie slice was super basic and greasy.com. The beef patty was too spicy for me and the beef was kind of bitter. My friend's slices were mehhhh as well. Perhaps they were having an off day? Closer to 2.5 stars but giving them the benefit of the doubt because I've heard good things in the past.

Well I've learned my lesson. Ordered a large pie with three toppings and a medium with pepperoni. My partner picked up and paid with a card, not checking the price. $78.12 for two pizzas. Two pizzas with bad sauce, cheap cheese, and bland crust. Please note, somehow it's cheaper if you buy through GrubHub? Their prices seem to shoot up if you buy straight from Grandpas themselves, which is weird when you want to support a local business. Learn from us. Don't buy from here.

Pizza was not great and it was $4 for a plain slice?!? And the seltzer was $3...this is inwood, get a grip! Pizza midtown is $1 a slice and much better than I thin crap they heated up for me. I won't be back

Order the vegan pizza again, but with gluten free dough and it was amazing. The salmon salad was delicious.

This was the worst food ever it was cold and who forgets the cheese on a meatball parm hero? the service sucks it's overpriced and the food sucks. Not happy that they get away with stuff like this on take out orders.

I been visiting this location since I was a child today I was there with my friend and my friend went to the bathroom and I stopped out the car to get something I want I went back they rejected my entry in the business because of my skin color... not cool

I wanted something quick to tie me over until I reached Manhattan so I stopped in for a cheese slice. Service was quick and friendly. The pizza was very standard and a bit on the greasy side. The seating area tables were clean. I paid with credit card and it was $4.36 a slice. A bit on the steep side for the Bronx as I had Joe's Pizza in Times Square just last week and that was $4 a slice. But this is convenient for when you just want something quick and warm before hopping on the subway.

I've been here twice -- both takeout orders. Staff = friendly, attentive, chill. Pizza = very good. I've never had anything but regular slices, but they get pretty creative here. Vibe = cool. They've got some tables low key on the other side of restaurant. I must return for something more creative, but it's a good spot!

Came from getting my nails did and had to pick up some dinner for the family. The pizza shop was nice and clean. The staff was very friendly and they had plenty of options to purchase. I went with a large pie with half pepperoni and cheese. They had plenty to drink as far as juice and sodas. They also had my favorite root bear, which was from Stewart's. The only problem issue I had was with the pizza. It was just ok. The sauce they use was very blah. Kids were happy though, so was the hubby. We defently had better. Would I buy again, yes if I'm in the area and needed to get one quickly for my family, but I would pass on any regular day.

I needed a quick meal for some incoming guests and living in Sugar Hill, had never heard of Grandpa's. The meal was delivered quickly by a nice and friendly man. Everything ordered was delicious - margarita pizza, sausage and pepper roll, stromboli, chicken pesto hero. So pleasantly surprised! Everyone was raving; the food was quickly gone.

Grandpa's Brick Oven Pizza you are absolutely terrific, I had a spectacular experience here yesterday. Worth every penny. Every single thing that I have actually tried has been quite delicious. The crew was really welcoming and service is extremely good. Certainly recommended.

WTF!!?!?! I live in Riverdale and order a calzone waiting to bite into it. I open the packaging to find this! I paid for this! Traveled miles for this! THANK YOU GRANDPA'S! Life never fails!

Quality of the 2nd time I ordered the pie. The taste took a dive. Sauce wasn't sweet. Pizza lacked flavor and cheese taste was overpowering. Disappointed. I won't order again.

Went here for a quick slice during work hours and I was delighted with the customer service. Out curiosity I asked for the price of two thin crust slices to go. The lady told me, the total would be $7.71! What a great way to scare your customers away. The slice was very thin and the cheese was not so fresh. Sorry to say I will not be coming here for a pizza any time time soon.

What a true gem! This place is everything you would want from your neighborhood pizzeria! Friendliest staff ever and you will always see the owner smiling and working alongside his team! There is a seating area adjacent to the walk in area with some great seating great for a family night out! The pizza is to die for, great ingredients fresh, perfectly melted cheese and crispy crust! A must try in this neighborhood!!

I know it's unfair for a Brooklyn-native like myself to review pizza outside of Brooklyn (let's face it- Brooklyn, undeniably, has the best pizza around), but I kept an open mind to this local spot. Not many pizza options around here in Inwood so I was looking forward to sinking my teeth into some gourmet perfectly made pizza on my walk home from the A train. Ordered the specialty slice (The Grandpa slice I believe), with a mixture of chicken, red and green peppers etc made as a thin slice. Problem: the pizza could've spent more time in the "brick oven" which as not a brick oven, as the peppers didn't cook or melt on top of the pizza. 2nd problem: speaking of melt..where was the cheese? It was only sauce on luke-warm, thin pizza dough with uncooked peppers -Also ordered the stromboli: Problem: NONE it was actually perfectly made, warmed better than my slice, flavorful, filling, enjoyed the salsa sauce with it. Biggest problem?? the total price for the specialty pizza slice and the stromboli was $12!! If the pizza slice blew me away, it would've justified the high-end price but it didn't so I won't be back.

Grandpa's Brick Oven Pizza was very good and very affordable. Overall, I think this is a great, fun spot. The menu was certainly interesting, but Greek Salad was especially outstanding. Team is very pleasant and will certainly help you with anything. Grandpa's Brick Oven Pizza...What more could you ask for?

Good thin crust plain slice with slightly tart sauce. The price on their fancy slices is a bit steep... $5...but a plain slice meets the subway fare metric at $2.75

I prefer smaller thin crust pizza however the pizza is always fresh and the staff is friendly. The pizza is usually cold if you have it delivered, so better off picking it up. They off indoor seating and many options to choose from.

Giving 3 STARS as an upgrade. Kitchen very clean ,..... This place could be great. I am an expert in this business. They do so many things wrong ... I am not sure I can save them. We too back their calamari to our lab. It registered disgusting but the sauce was great. Pizza did not have enough sauce. OK with crust as it was good. We all know that a large cheese pizza cost less than 2 dollars. you must be stupid to charge $3.5 FOR VEGGIE TOPPINGS. Should be $1.50 dummy. What we do is find these dumb businesses and open next door to them and they close fast because they are stupid.

One of the Inwood neighborhood staples. Great thin crust pizza with fresh topping choices. Great for dropping in for slice but even better for a calzone. Though it's changed ownership has changed the quality hasn't. Worth a trip or take out. Gotta get the huge basil leaves on your pizza. So good.

Excellent brick oven pizza! Angelo who works there was very accommodating and gave us great service. Delicious. The price was great too. Must try if you're ever in the Inwood area.

Oh my god this place is by far the best pizza in Dyckman definitely better than Johnny's it's nice then crispy not Dowie and the pizza always taste fresh! Definitely recommend getting a slice or two if you're in the area you won't be disappointed

Wow!! I just order myself and my sister a Penne Al Vodka with Grill chicken and A Lasagna it was out of this world. Definitely the price was worth it for that delicious meal my sister and I ate. Sorry I meant to put pictures but it was too good. I highly recommend for those that work and are too tired to cook. Amazing oh you have to try the agua Jamaica and Horchata

A semi-old-fashioned brick oven pizzeria. But it isn't amazing enough to want to shout it out. Pros: it's real, homemade, not pre-made factory or frozen. Tastes pretty good. They have calzones and Stromboli. That's not that common. And it's delicious. Good for pizza. Best in the neighborhood. Cons: pretty limited menu. There's more that they lack than what they have -- except for pizza -- in terms of trying to order dinner for a whole family. So it limits how often one wants to or is able to go there.

Personally, not my favorite slice of pie. I prefer a crispier crust and Grandpas crust is not that. It's thin alright but on the softer side to make for a foldable slice of pie. Some people love the fold, I don't. I ordered a slice of cheese and a slice of fresh mozzarella. The cheese was by far better than the fresh moz. Everything was on the bland side so I went to town jazzing my slices up. Condiment shakers have never been a slice of pizzas best friend until now. All I have to say is amen for the garlic salt. I was hoping I would really love this place bc they also have a full spread of Italian meals. Service was a little wonky and I wasn't wowed by the pizza so maybe in due time I'll give their eggplant pram or spaghetti and meatballs a try. But not anytime soon.

Grandpa's is a cool name for a pizzeria. Grandma usually gets all of the credit. There, I said it. I've wanted to try this pizzeria for that reason--no matter how stupid--since I heard about it. But drag my ass all the way up to Inwood? You've got to be kidding me. Finally business brought me up there, and I made a point to try this place. Their brick oven is gas fired and pretty small. Service was friendly enough, and the place looked nice enough. I got my slice very quickly and ate it before the end of the block. The crust here made the slice remind me of the wimpy kid that got beaten up all the time in elementary school. It had a bit of flavor, but it was just so damn limp with a tiny end crust. Fresh mozzarella was ok but dried out. Tomato sauce didn't hold any real flavor. Very good basil leaves were used on this slice; its just a shame them didn't cut it up a bit so that it was evenly distributed. When basil is the dominant flavor of a slice, that is not a good sign. This slice wasn't terrible, but it wasn't worth $3.70 either. A cool name only gets you so far.

Expensive but worth it. They recently changed the gluten free pizza dough and it's great!

I have a friend in this neighborhood so I'm there on occasion. My favorite thing about coming to Inwood? Getting to eat Grandpa's pizza. It makes my mouth water just thinking about it. I usually get takeout/delivery and order a 12" or 16" pizza. I end up with leftovers either way because I try not to overeat. For most people, I'd say a 12" is fine if you're having salad or something on the side. Otherwise if you want more pizza (or you're sharing), get a 16" or bigger. I usually order the pizza with the fresh mozzarella on top. It costs a little extra, but it's totally worth it. And their pizza is so delicious that you don't necessarily need to add meat or vegetable toppings, IMO.

I was really hungry and needed a quick bite between my transfer from the bus to the train . I figured pizza would be cheap and easy but I was sort of wrong about the first part. I understand that slices with toppings are more expensive, but $5.70 for a slice of pizza with a little pesto is ridiculous. In hindsight I should of asked the price of the slice before I got it, but as I said, I was hungry. For $5.70 the slice should have been amazing but it was soggy, not very warm even though they reheated it, and the slice could barely hold the few toppings on it.

Had high hopes for Grandpas. A brick oven uptown. Unfortunately after the bill climbed north of $50 for take out for 2 people and the wait was INSANE, we'll avoid Grandpa in the future. We ordered several assorted slices, most of which were dry. Beyond that the order was just wrong. The calzone was the best thing but I suspect that was the item we waited for the longest. Finally - while waiting, I observed someone who was preparing food EATING. It's one thing to eat in your own kitchen while preparing food but I don't want to see a cook slobbering over a bowl of pasta while plopping pepperoni on my pie.

The pizza here is below average and has gotten a lot worse and more expensive. It use to be a decent place but has gone down hill fast. They also charge you to use a credit card which is ridiculous since the pizza is already over priced.

The pizza is good here but extremely overpriced. I ordered a small 12" margarita pie for $21. I usually get a large margarita for this price. I will not be ordering from here again unless they lower their prices.

I went to this establishment to get a pizza during my lunch break which cost $3.50 I handed the cashier/supervisor $4 and I tell him oh wait I have fifty cents. When I hand him the fifty cents he did not return a dollar to me so I asked for it at which point he became very defensive and said he will rewind the cámara footage to show me what I know I gave him. After waiting 10minutes (during my timed lunch break) I said I did not come here to buy a pizza for lunch to be embarrassed like this you can keep the dollar and the pizza at which point he became very apologetic maybe it was the realization that I am a working woman despite how I might've been dressed. I felt profiled and discriminated against in this establishment and I'm not the first one to feel this way therefore I felt compelled to write this review. Beware of this establishment and it's discriminatory practices!
