"The inside of Grange Hall Burger Bar is like a farmhouse (with long wooden tables and gingham decor), so it doesn’t have the same kind of trendy feel as some of the other spots in the West Loop - but the grass-fed burgers definitely hold their own. There’s even a vegan patty (with spinach and chickpeas) that’s actually good." - Adrian Kane

Every town has the "best burger on the planet" or the "best burger in town." For my vote its Grange Hall in west loop.We were greeted and seated quickly on a busy St Patrick's day.. The place is cosy & rustic but has a great vibe. Everyone really seemed to be happy to be here. Our server Sarah was prompt, friendly and observent. The burgers were as advertised. You can get them dressed a variety of ways and with several choices of sides. From drinks to the selection of great beers the prices were reasonable, the food is outstanding and the service is friendly as well as efficient. To top it off after the dinner we walked at the back of the restaurant to The Backdoor Saloon.

The Short Of It: This place was aggressively mediocre… which might be worst than being bad. The Long Of It: I visited Grange Hall, with my wife, about two weeks ago. I had heard some awesome things about this place, so I was excited to try them out. The restaurant’s exterior was underwhelming (it looked like a country outhouse). We were seated fairly quickly by a cheery hostess. To start, we ordered the Roasted Jalapeño Cheddar Waffle Fries as an appetizer. For our main course, we both ordered the Ultimate. She had it with onion rings. I asked the waitress what she would recommend as a side. She asked me if I liked Cheese (kinda like asking if water was wet), if I did the Macaroni and Cheese would be a good choice. I went with her recommendation and got the M&C. The Roasted Jalapeño Cheddar Waffle Fries come out and they don’t look great. The colors on the plate seem a bit muted and the sour cream seems to be hard and haphazardly slapped on the tray. Our eyes didn’t lie because they were terrible. Even though the restaurant had just opened, the fries were lukewarm. The cheese didn’t have much flavor and I couldn’t put my finger on what they reminded me of. My wife then said what I was thinking… “these remind me of Jimmy Dean’s sausages…” She didn’t mean that in a good way. We muddled through and picked around the fries until the main event made its way to the table. The burgers and sides are served. The macaroni that was recommended by my server did not live up to the hype. The macaroni was bathed in a sauce that was not cheesy or delicious. It was just blah. It was soaked in a sauce that was just milk with a slight hint of cheese. The onion rings that my wife ordered were bland and she mentioned that the barbecue sauce with the onion rings was equally forgettable. But, we were there for the burgers… I mean, burgers are in the restaurant’s name. I shouldn’t have expected much from a place that has a berries and brie burger, but this very forgettable. The Ultimates that we ordered were anything but. You would think that the ingredients in the Ultimate would have some personality and make for and interesting experience… you would be wrong. Somehow these ingredients just muted one another. I took bite after bite that meant nothing. “How do you like your burger” “I have no idea.” This experience left no impact on me. It was not an experience that was so great that I need to return as quickly as possible. It was also not so bad that I need to yell to tell everyone to avoid this spot. It was just sustenance until my next meal. Maybe that’s why it took me a couple of weeks to write this. I believe that if anyone asked me about this place a month from now, I wouldn’t remember that I had been here. They should do better.

Overall: Grange Hall stands up there with the best burgers in Chicago! The good: The burger was cooked perfectly. They have a lot of unique options that aren't too gimmicky, and all of the sides were great (mac, buffalo chips, parm fries). The banana cream pie was also great (had real bananas like it should). The burgers aren't overwhelmingly huge. Some places you need to be rolled out after you're done, but here I left full but happy. The service was extremely fast and attentive. All our food came out quickly. Easy-going atmosphere. The not-so-good: No sides come with the burgers, and the apps and sides could've been bigger portion-wise. Atmosphere: 9/10 Service: 10/10 Food: 9/10

The Bullseye was Delicious! Perfectly cooked eggs nestled inside of a perfectly cooked piece of bread. Crispy potatoes, yummy sausage & delicious gravy. Definitely recommended! Love the farmhouse decor!

This place is small and charming. The beer selection is great and the burger was succulent. Severs were also very good.

Great burger joint in the West Loop. Typically no wait or a short wait, great alternative to Au Cheval.

Great burger, friendly staff, and no wait! Good drinks, although I wasn't a huge fan of their sangria

This place has amazing burgers. We came here on a whim after learning that Au Chaval had a 6 hour wait (yes, you read that right). We were seated immediately here and the service was great the entire time. It has a great rustic aesthetic to it, reminiscent of an actual grange. They had a fun list of cocktails, beers, and whiskeys. I have to say though, the burger was really my favorite part. You cannot go wrong with their ultimate burger.
