"This is perhaps one of the most epic ways to experience the eclipse: from a hot air balloon. The winery’s VIP access to the event comes with the hot air balloon rides (including one timed to the eclipse), a dinner, wine tasting, and live music. General admission tickets offer entry to the grounds for eclipse viewing and/or the balloon ride. People can also book campsites." - Nadia Chaudhury

I want to say this was my first time doing a wine tour and they did not disappoint. All the staff was awesome and super friendly. The safari and wine tasting is definitely worth the price of admission. Very family oriented. $75 gets you an animal tour which you get to feed the animals, a tracker ride, and 4 different wines to taste. Definitely put it on your to do list.

Google
Highly recommend this place! It’s beautiful and the safari tour is so awesome! Renee and George were great and so detailed answered all our questions and we didn’t felt rushed at all when we did the petting and feeding. Definitely will come back!

Google
Beautiful and loved seeing all the animals! The safari tour was really fun. I only wish we were given more time to come in contact with the animals and feed them. But it was a great experience.

Google
I had an unforgettable experience at this vineyard and safari tour! Their peach wine is absolutely exceptional—perfectly balanced, flavorful, and refreshing. It’s a must-try if you visit! The staffs are incredibly friendly and fantastic. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel welcome and took the time to explain everything about the tour and the wines. The ambience is equally amazing—cool, relaxing, and surrounded by stunning views. It’s the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy the beauty of nature. One of the highlights is the wide variety of animals on-site, most of which have been rescued. It’s heartwarming to see how well they’re cared for, and it adds a special touch to the entire experience. If you’re looking for a unique adventure that combines great wine, friendly service, and an up-close experience with rescued animals, this is the place to be!

Google
Great place to spend the afternoon. Great wines, the grounds are beautiful and it is also very kid friendly with lots of animals to see and a playground in the back. The staff was also great, both Stephanie and Rick were super friendly and offered different options for everyone in the group. Will definitely come back!

Google
Had a wonderful experience doing the Grapetown Vineyard Safari tour followed by a charcuterie board and a wine tasting! The entire staff are super accommodating and hospitable. Overall highly recommended!

Danielle Janice de Asis-Pinon

Google
Phenomenal venue and staff!!!!! You would think a safari would be gross and smelly -- not this one! The place didn't smell of farm animals, that's how clean it was! Our tour guides, Roger and Wesley, were really great! They were very knowledgeable, passionate about their job, and good conversationalists! We enjoyed their stories and humor. Rose and everyone else was really great and hospitable. Will definitely be back!

Google
The atmosphere was delightful! It is a must stop in to experience. From the owners to the staff who'll pour a refreshing afternoon cocktail or taste of one of their award winning wines. They're genuine and sincerely appreciate the company. Be prepared to step out of Texas and be amazed!

Shawn D.

Yelp
Had an amazing time at this winery. Great wine selection and light appetizers. Customer service was next level.

Sadiya A.

Yelp
The property was cool because it's an animal sanctuary where you can go on "safari tours". This visit was particularly for wine tasting but I was disappointed because they didn't have any tastings of their own wines but rather other vendor wines not local to the area or Texas. The day we attended, we had to park on a hill because they had a pop up shop of local vendors set up by the main parking area closest to the tasting room/hall. Which also, was $20 parking due to an event of sorts. To get a tasting wristband, we didn't know you had to purchase it outside where the vendor stalls were and it took them forever to get us checked out and paid. It seemed as if their handheld POS system wasn't functioning well. I would however come back to experience the safari tours and animal interactions.

Nicole B.

Yelp
Grape stomp, animals aplenty & great drinks. Helpful & friendly staff! Atompshere is so relaxing & compfortable & gives a Texas feel to wine counrty!

Karen D.

Yelp
We visited for the NYE oyster festival. Super enjoyed the wines, activities, and service here. Would highly recommend for any of their festivals or events.

Anisha G.

Yelp
A stunning winery featuring a variety of animals, including kangaroos, ostriches, camels, and zebras. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. During our visit, there was a polo match, hot air balloons, and a variety of stalls to explore. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming! I would 100% recommend this spot to anyone visiting Fredericksburg!

Ashley P.

Yelp
Safari tour was top-notch. Gorge was very knowledgeable and let us see all the animals!

Henry B.

Yelp
Came here for a visit on the weekend for the hot air balloon festival and had a blast with the VIP deal Everyone was super friendly and they had a variety of wines and a cheeseboard for us to try saw well as a cool safari tour. Definitely a great place to stop by if you're in Fredericksburg. Fairly rustic ambiance but with a fancy flair.

Pooja R.

Yelp
I loved the visit to the winery. Larissa made sure we were taken care of during our wine tasting. Super friendly and extremely knowledgeable and answered all our questions. Also, signed up and I am coming in again to Fredericksburg.

Danielle A.

Yelp
I had the opportunity to attend the Safari Tour at Grapetown Vineyard. It was such a great experience! The tour guides were not only knowledgeable but also made the tour so enjoyable. The relaxing scenery and serene atmosphere made it the perfect weekend activity to unwind. I would absolutely love to attend again in the future. Thank you for making this wonderful experience possible!

Peter L.

Yelp
Came here for the tram ride offered by the Rockin Rib Festival nearby. The tram rides start every hour on the 45th minute so we enjoyed their wine tasting while waiting for that. It's $30 for 4 tastings. Rick took care of us and walked us through each wine. We typically enjoy dry reds but they have white and sweet wine varieties as well. Ambiance was really cute. It's an open barn style kind of winery. Had a string duo playing when we entered. Had some Bridgerton vibes going with the modern songs they were playing. Def recommend stopping by if you're in the area.

Greg T.

Yelp
Fun place. Stayed in the yurts and it was a fun experience. It was windy and the only con was we were the furthest away from the restrooms.

Kimberly F.

Yelp
This winery is the cutest drive in. You see all the animals including zebras, camels and kangaroos. You can do a tour to see them. It has an open airy vibe that is perfect for summer. They can accommodate huge parties, which I appreciate because we came for a bachelorette party and had a 11 girls with us. Pricing is good too, we went to some other wineries in the area and they were priced much higher.

Bethany R.

Yelp
This is how my review started...So many options for wines and a great atmosphere! After being here DON'T waste your time coming here. We just drove an hour to be absolutely frustrated with many others around us. We expected some information once we got here but there is none. Your ticket only pays to get you here. That's it. Everything costs, not your typical festival experience at all! We stood in line for a free glass of wine for a five star review only to be charged $14 and $15. I questioned our lady twice only to be told she didn't charge us...yes she did! The charcuterie board is lack luster and the wine is so overpriced. You are better off staying at home!

Cristen S.

Yelp
Grapetown is so cute!! You get to see all kinds of animals right as you drive in the park! The setup itself is also adorable and great vibes for any type of event. We came for a bachelorette party and had enough seating for all of us! They had a great selection of affordable wines and were also super kind in making sure we liked what we had. I also appreciated how they had fans since Texas can be hot in the summer! They also had some snacks for purchase. Overall, would recommend and would come back!!

Wilnesa C.

Yelp
This place was nice! I came here for their safari wine tour and I really enjoyed it. The tour started a little late, but it was worth the wait. Feeding the animals and walking the grounds while sipping on some wine, was really nice. The staff were extremely knowledgeable about the animals and the different wines. Make sure you give this place a visit!

Calista M.

Yelp
amazing wine!!! super nice staff!! we loved the wine tasting!!! they have crackers as well!!

Ashley Y.

Yelp
We came to this place after the Taco and tequila festival. It's a beautiful winery and the offer the mobile safari tour. I had a glass of Romance rose and it was great! I would love to come back here again if i am around here.

Melissa D.

Yelp
I don't have the words to describe everything I experienced in a day. The staff, the owners, Mr. Rick and Ms. Rose, the customers... Everything was amazing. This place feels like a home and the more you talk with everyone, the more you don't want to leave. The wine tasting was fun. The charcuterie board recommendations were perfect. The service and wine were on point. I loved everything about this hidden gem. I hope to be back again soon and to take the kiddos as they have animals and livestock roaming the grounds. They have an outdoor safari tour. They have live music as well as a speaker system when the band takes a break. They have outdoor seating that has a view of trees and grass and peacefulness. It was the perfect way to spend our Saturday.

Julie V.

Yelp
Amazing safari wine vineyard! We did a safari tour and got to check out tons of animals! Highly recommend for animal lovers!!

April T.

Yelp
What a disappointment! We are locals and love to try new venues and leave great reviews for them, but no can do. This place is either ran with incompetence or just a scam, but from the other bad reviews I've read, must be a scam. From unclear directions and information, to rude workers at the ticket entrance, and high prices for each individual thing, it doesn't make one feel good. I can say that the grounds are lovely, but it feels like a cattle car as far as people in people out for the next dollar. I would not recommend this to anyone.

Michaela P.

Yelp
Really nice people but...ummm...what exactly is going on here? Is this an animal rescue/sanctuary or a tasting room? Petting zoo or wedding venue? Working(ish) farm or primitive camp site? I'll tell you what it's not...it's not a vineyard. Nice venue. Eclectic. But definitely not a vineyard. Overpriced tour. Overpriced wine (none from TX) although the pours are generous. They do have a full bar and fresh eggs @ $4/dzn. They'll also give you a free glass of wine for a 5 star review...

Janel F.

Yelp
Came here with some friends and it is such a cute place. Great selection of wines. Great customer service. They have snacks and a build your own charcuterie board. You get to see all the animals around the vineyard.

Kary S.

Yelp
Very cute place. Great family activities. Must visit. Great fall pumpkin patch. Clean and friendly environment. Tours are a blast.

Mandelyn R.

Yelp
Wow what a cool beautiful venue! I came for the Chocolate & Wine festival and stopped in a day early for my VIP Safari Tour. Well-kept property, great lounge/bar event area. Friendly service. Highly recommended!

Katherine G.

Yelp
Bought VIP tickets for the Cheese and Wine Festival on October 12, 2024 and it was the worst experience. The parking was disorganized. The line to get in was long and for those that spent the money on VIP tickets or tickets in general had to stand in the long line. An employee came through the line, having one member of our party sign the disclaimer - um they need to chat with legal counsel to understand that is not a smart way to get a disclaimer from each individual that could be hurt while there. Once at the front of the line, our friend shows her ticket, and the man asks her what she is showing. She politely responded with, my ticket, to which he grumpily replies, "I have five events going on, I do not know what your ticket means." That was our second encounter with staff. Once in, we make our way to complimentary cheese plate, well, that fell short. Tried to get wine, that was a joke. The line was long and the staff was disorganized. We did not get wine, we did not enjoy the "cheese plate," and we did not enjoy a single thing at this "Cheese and Wine Festival." Went into Fredericksburg, had a great lunch, and enjoyed some great wine. Tips for establishment: 1. if you are offering VIP tickets, then there need to be perks for those that paid. Such as, their own line to enter, their own wine bar section. 2.You need a bigger area to accommodate the amount of people that come out. 3. Take a tour of the vineyards around you to see a) how they host a cheese and wine tasting, b) what constitutes as a cheese plate. I can assure you; it is not what you handed out. (Yes, my strawberry was molding.) We were very disappointed and do not recommend this place for any of their festivals.

Person C.

Yelp
it was a good time but this last event. balloon festival isn't want i expected. I got couple VIP. The polo tournament was awesome loved it and the safari tour was very fun and cool. You get to do a quick pet of a kangaroo and camel and get to love show some more love to a lama, kunne kunnes pig, deer, fluffy cow and goats. The wine was amazing! But be careful of the vip price. They gave me 2 sample size cups and charged me 36 dollars And a bottle is like 40 something bucks for the apple pie wine. Don't buy the glasses of wine downstairs it was plastic and very little. buy the ones up stairs they give you wine glasses and more wine. The timing was very disorganized. You have to watch the timing yourself! No one is guiding you. We missed the grape stomping. (The man said its over whenever he feels like it). The safari tour had set times but apparently you have to set it up online. (but we got no email) I couldn't finish the polo match because We had to catch the last safari tour. (timing and communication is terrible) everytime you ask for a time everyone was clueless. The Hot air balloon ride was awesome but you only go up a couple of meters and you are tide to a truck with a rope. There we're only 2 hot air balloons. The amount of money I payed wasn't worth it it seemed they signed up too many people and couldn't give up a full experience. The wine taster poor guy wanted to give everyone a good and thoughtful time but he had to focus on mass production not quality. Overall had fun just feel like there was too many people and very disorganized. Possible maybe if you go when there is not a festival it might be better. It was just too mass produced to have a full experience

Carol M.

Yelp
Beautiful area. Can tell it's new site. Very expensive for kids stuff. Safari kids hat and binoculars $7.00. Would sell more if was 5.00 not more. Also lotions. 10.00 max. Animals for the most part were very entertaining. 1:00 tour very Hot out. Safari tour need a water cooler on ride! It was too hot and after walking part straight into ride. No chance to purchase any.

Calynne C.

Yelp
Great tour and delicious wine!!!! Went on a girls trip with 5 of us and we had the best time ever! Rick was the best

Kittie P.

Yelp
Very beautiful setting ! Drank a glass of Luke Syrah and was very impressed with all the flavors Great safari tour I can now say I fed a zebra , petted a 5 day old alpaca, a kangaroo named Bobby and a camel named Brandy ! Who knew a camel would come when she was called !

Mary B.

Yelp
The safari tour and animal interactions were amazing! The staff is friendly and extremely helpful. You can tell they really love their jobs and the animals. I highly recommend this tour. The wine tasting was yummy - The Apple Pie wine was sooooo good! I can't say enough great things!

Ashley A.

Yelp
Such a wonderful winery! The people are so friendly and it's so clean and pretty. We took our children on the safari tour and they loved feeding the animals! We got great photos and videos. Wine was delicious as well! Definitely recommend to everyone!

Erin B.

Yelp
Pretty place but terrible service and they serve other wine brands that you can get at the grocery store. They can't tell you much about the wine. Not worth the admission price to enter. You can tell that a manager does not get the workers all together so they know what's going on in the other wine areas either... for instance, a guy next to me asked to buy a bottle of the dessert wine that was being served in the tasting flight. The person behind the counter gave him a blank stare and had no idea which wine he was talking about -- keep in mind that they were only serving 4 different wines. It wouldn't have been that hard to know and remember the 4 that were being served that day. I could list 3 other issues that occurred but I'll just sum it all up to say overhyped and nit worth it.

Alberto D.

Yelp
Wife had a great time here. They have a Safari Tour, petting zoo, liquor and of course WINE. You must try Porch Swing it is sweet deliciousness.. they do sell a variety of other items. Veterans get your tickets at vettix.org tell Bobby, Roger, Rick and Rose I said HI. https://www.vettix.org/ref/3140787

My Brown S.

Yelp
I had the opportunity to do a safari wine tour and glamping experience at Grapetown Vineyard. I'm a huge animal lover and was so excited to feed the animals. Bobby was a great tour guide. They have a beautiful farm filled with your typical farm staples like goats and chickens and few more exotic rescues like kangaroos, camels, and buffalo. The yurt glamping tent was a lot nicer than I expected. I did not feel like I was camping at all. It was fully furnished with compy beds, sofa chairs and an AC/Heating system. The kitchenette and full bathrooms also made the experience really nice. Perfect for those who don't like roughing it in a traditional tent. I would definitely stay here again!.

Shelly W.

Yelp
Appearances can be deceiving. The owner parks along the road and stops every vehicle to make sure you have "paid" for everything if not he reminds you to tell registration you owe more money. Then registration can hardly be found. The parking is terrible. There is a lot of parking but no designation for VIP or regular parking. We didn't have VIP and parked right at the entrance. We came just for the grape stomping and what was shown on the website WAS NOT what we experienced. Stood outside in the heat for over an hour. When we go to the "grape stomping" barrel it wasn't even full of grapes. Two smaller plastic barrels inside the big one, your feet can barely fit in, barely full of grapes hundred of people have already stepped in. Just to take a picture. This is more of a photo op than it is a grape stomp. There was no organization of each event. No regulation of packages purchased. No monitoring of what the patrons were doing. Lady at registration barely checked our purchased tickets and just gave us the number of wrist band we needed. Go visit other wineries not this one. There's no vineyards on the property, not winery in site just animals that are tired from the heat; uneven, hilly, rocky parking and sad slow polo matches.

Lilibeth R.

Yelp
Simple process to check in. Variety of experiences available including wine tasting, goat and alpaca cuddling, safari tour. Bartender was friendly and helpful.

Melissa C.

Yelp
The sangria is delicious, excited to try the grape stomp. The views are so gorgeous Definitely make your way out here

Karl L.

Yelp
Another great visit at Bankersmith. We used our Harvest Host membership and came out with our RV for the weekend. Spent Saturday afternoon at Grapetown with a tasting and a purchase of some bottles. Then headed to Bankersmith Saloon for an evening of drinks, dinner (very good), live music and a nice fire at the pit. A relaxing Sunday talking to a few other RVers. We had a great time and Greg, Bob and team were all great!

Ari G.

Yelp
I had a great tour and enjoyed watching, feeding, and petting the animals. My family enjoyed some wine, and the ambiance.

Heidy P.

Yelp
Such a great family friendly vineyard! The views are awesome and the main space is decorated beautifully, they also have some cute photo-ops. The guide for the safari was knowledgeable and allowed enough time for everyone to feed and pet the animals. The server at the bar was sweet and prepared our flight based on what type of wine we have interest in. We also got a little bit of history on each wine! Our favorite was the Peach Pie Highly Recommend!

Renee T.

Yelp
Farm feel with exotic animals. Gr8 for a weekend escape. The owner discussed events on Fridays and Saturdays. Safari, Tours, wine tasting. We parked overnight in their RV parking space. Felt very safe and inviting. Close to Fredrickburg and San Antonio. Worth a visit especially on weekend.

Lisa P.

Yelp
What a gorgeous place and love everything about it! We came here for the eclipse and had the best time! Everyone was so nice and we will be back!

Rachel W.

Yelp
Went for the fall wine festival. Such a beautiful winery!! Great staff! Can't wait to come to more events!

Lori H.

Yelp
This place was a fun get away for the start of our weekend. Beautiful views and air flowing through the open barn where you can sit comfortably. Friendly service! FYI- They will start serving their own vineyard wine at the beginning of next year.

William A.

Yelp
I will, before sharing my other thoughts here, say that the staff is nice and as accommodating as they could be. My 1 star review is for mis-advertisement and what you get for the cost. #1 This is not a vineyard. Nor is the wine selection that is served from the bar local to Tx. This is more of a ranch with some exotic animals. #2 The "Fredericksburg Wine and Cheese Festival" event is misleadingly advertised. This is just a regular day of business operation for this situation. They do this event once a month. No vendors, local wineries featured, etc. It's a bar on a ranch. #3 Prices are high. $42 for a standard bottle that is ~20 at HEB, $6 bottled coke, feels steep. The 62$ VIP ticket included wine tasting that was underwhelming in quality & selection, a small cheese plate hastily prepared and sweaty. It's notable that at the front they're giving a free glass of wine for a 5 star review bc an honest review looks like this. Be wary of the 5 star reviews.

Troy B.

Yelp
Bartenders Myra and Bella are "service with a smile" epitomized! Great location for a Texas Hill country adventure! Great food and wine selection. Highly recommend!

Wendy R.

Yelp
Great atmosphere with very friendly staff! Everything was well organized. We had a great time doing the grape stomping along with the tour

Andrea G.

Yelp
The ambiance is reminiscent of charming and romantic storytelling filling us with the serenity from the scenic views. The ladies providing service are kind and attentive, which makes for a pleasant experience. The cheese plate makes you drool with anticipation. Of course, the unique appeal to this establishment is the beautiful landscapes and wildlife - unparalleled. Do yourself the favor and make a stop at Grapetown Vineyard. Something else that I thought was quite lovely is that their menu is very informative; it gives details about the wines offered (sweet, dry, country of origin) - definitely a nice touch!

Stacie V.

Yelp
Was absolutely beautiful and the farm tour staff were so knowledgeable and friendly and passionate about the animals. The main building with the bar and the tables is absolutely perfectly appointed, and I'm so glad we made it out here.
