"Rick Gencarelli’s pasta palace recently opened on the Vancouver Waterfront, serving fresh pasta in shapes like bucatini and rigatoni in sauces ranging from meaty Sunday pork ragu to a light drizzle of garlic, chili flakes, olive oil, and Grana Padano. Wine by the glass or bottle, as well as craft beer and cocktails, are available to sip while gazing out the floor-to-ceiling windows at the Columbia River. The house red, a blend made by Coopers Hall winery in Portland, pairs well with the red sauce pastas." - Rachel Pinsky

"This Portland favorite for fresh pasta doused in punchy sauces recently opened a large, bright space on the Vancouver Waterfront. The menu includes pastas like wild mushroom alfredo and cacio e pepe, as well as kid-sized portions of the spaghetti and meatballs and mac and cheese. On sunny days, the family can hit up the waterfront’s interactive water play feature after an early dinner, or take an easy stroll along the Columbia River Renaissance Trail." - Rachel Pinsky

"Grassa on the Vancouver waterfront. Their pastas are all great, but I have a special fondness for the Italian chopped salad with a glass of the house red. I like how the salt and vinegar mixes with the brightness of the wine." - Eater Staff

Amazing fresh pasta! Blown away by the creativity and execution of the spring pea tortellini dish with lamb larb, so flavorful! The pork belly mac and cheese was also phenomenal with the jalapeno bits and beautifully caramelized pork belly. Ample seating in a bright space and fantastic service.

Had a short dinner break before and event and was staying at a hotel on the waterfront, and was glad to be able to order at the counter before sitting down. The pasta was good. I didn't know what I wanted and the cashier helped me decide. I will say having images for those of us not highly familiar with different types of pastas or sauces, would be helpful. Loved what I got! The serving size was also just right. And timing was good. Totally would go back.

We took carbonara pasta and srimp scampi. Pasta was tasty but a bit undercooked and was even harder than Al dante. It cause later stomach ache.. Sauce and salad were amazingly tasty.

Came here for lunch with my Mom, she got the fried shrimp pasta, strozzapreti. And I got Carbonara with a fried egg (not pictured). She really enjoyed her dish and I enjoyed mine! Kinda strange to order at the bar, but everything else was fine. Dishes arrived hot . When I come back to town to visit Mom, we will come again

Not at all what we were expecting. We were definitely thrown off by the order at counter, food prepped in back and you serve your self as far as water, utensils, and bus your own table. Like cafeteria style. Not to mention one of the women working behind the counter was overly rude and snooty. Food was pretty good, well some of the items I'd recommend but others I'd never order again. Highlight would absolutely be the cauliflower and radicchio salad and the pork belly Mac and cheese. Both were absolutely excellent. The seasonal egg nog was absolutely over priced considering it was nearly $9 a glass for maybe 6 ounces.

I live nearby and got a chance to try most menu items. It's nice to have a casual, dining place on waterfront! Fusilli alla vodka - Excellent! There is discrepancy with spicyness level and it's been great across the entire spectrum Cacio e pepe - delicious despite vegetarian. Buttery without too much of the guilt and tastes of truffle Big rig - the only recipe that seems to incorporate mushrooms. Delicious, solid choice for anyone that appreciates a creamy pasta with crumbles of pork Butternut Squash Caramelle - May just be a limited time, fall dish. I thought it was nice especially if you like a sweeter plate. Not the most filling compared to others but id consider this an excellent appetizer since I wouldn't want to eat the entire thing but I did enjoy each bite Carbonara - a bit too heavy but at least very filling. This reheats fine but is best enjoyed when you're dining there Cherry tomato pomodoro - very filling and feels healthy without compromising flavor. Had leftovers that reheated wonderfully Pork belly Mac & cheese - good but not personally a fan of BBQ style pork belly Pork ragu - safe choice Corn agnolotti - on the colder side because of the ingedients despite ordering for dine-in. Not filling whatsoever. Left hungry and disappointed the time I came and ordered this Shrimp Strozzapeti - Lemony and a nice change from what you might get typically. The diverse array of ingredients used will keep you interested Pizza hot pocket - best enjoyed when dining in so that it doesn't get soggy during transit Garlic bread - an excellent addition to dip in your pasta sauce

Grassa stands out from the other restaurants on the waterfront with a casual atmosphere and reasonable prices. It's an 'order and sit' type establishment. Seating can be an issue at times. The food is fantastic and reasonably priced. The menu isn't large, but the options are great - including the wine and beer. The atmosphere is casual with communal tables. Service is what you would expect for an 'order and find your own table' restaurant.
