"Grassona's Italian, replacing Fairsted Kitchen, offers a tribute to the red-sauce cooking of Italian grandmothers with dishes like slow-braised meatballs made from a unique blend of meats and a veal chop saltimbocca. The restaurant maintains the warmth and comfort of its predecessor while introducing a lighter color palette and a new bar. The beverage program includes 10 cocktails and a notable wine list, managed by Emma Connolly. Grassona's Italian opens with a limited menu on January 18, with a grand opening on January 24." - Terrence Doyle

The drinks at this place just blew my mind!!! I knew I was in for a treat. Ordered the grilled sardines, heirloom tomatoes, and cauliflower for appetizers, and let me just say that I'm still licking my fingers from the sardines. The sauce under the cauliflower was mouth watering. Hats off to the chef double time!!! My main course was the chicken with sweet potatoes and I believe kale. My husband had the veal pasta which was also mouth watering. When I say that I can't wait to vacate in Boston again, this place is definitely one of my top reasons why!!! Excellent food! Excellent drinks!! Excellent service!!!

Very unmotivated kitchen. For what is served, the price is high. The quality is not there. The food is blend. Portions are small. Dinner salad is the size of a side salad. Also salad leaves might not have been the freshest. The bread was low quality what makes one think how the rest of the ingredients for the other dishes are chosen....

Just came back from dinner. Very disappointed. I ordered the lamb stew pasta. The pasta wasn’t cooked well and was actually hard to my taste. The dish itself wasn’t presented in an appealing way and looked like leftovers, plus the portion was surprising small (and I ordered the large size.) My wife ordered the escarole salad which had about 3 hazelnuts, one teaspoon of Gorgonzola, and hard grilled pear slices. The server was nice, but my daughter noticed a different server picking his nose. Definitely won’t be returning and will not recommend. Judging by the previous negative comments listed here, nothing has changed.

The service was amazing staff was so friendly and sincere. It was a great experience however, I did not care for the food. It was very unique and did not suit my palette. It is definitely a different take on Italian and not what I was expecting or hoping for. The staff was so wonderful and friendly some of the best service I have had in a long time. I just wish I could say the same about the food. The flavors were just too herbaceous for me. I prefer a simpler Italian I suppose. So, if you’re planning on visiting please don’t expect a traditional Italian.

Brookline really needs a quality Italian restaurant. The food and portions are excellent! Each dish has a nice blend of seasoning that enhances every item. The servers are knowledgeable about the menu. And the bar offers a fantastic array for wine and cocktails with this menu. As importantly, the guests are having a great time, talking with each other and strangers alike so one feels they are part of a special neighborhood.

Had a delicious meal at Grassona's last week. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. Service was attentive and on point. My husband raved about the house red wine. He said it was the perfect complement to the fantastic pan-fried buffalo mozzarella. Grassona's is sure to be a neighborhood hit, meant to be savored again and again.

We went here for my friend's birthday dinner. At the recommendation of the waiter, I tried the $29.95 Lobster pasta special. When the meals finally arrived, the portion was small and full of claw meat - and a chunk of lobster shell. I advised the waiter to make sure no one else would experience the same. No response at all from management or the waiter. Overall - drinks were good. Service was slow, food was bland with very small portions. We definitely won't be going back.

The ragu was quite tasty. The roast sausage dish was solid but not spectacular. The starter meats and cheeses were less interesting than the selection at trader Joe's. The service was great, employees were knowledgeable and friendly. And the portions were very, very small. The two of us spent $70 (no drinks) and left still kind of hungry. Doesn't stack up that well against the portions and flavors available in, say, the North End.
