The 15 Best Restaurants In Nassau, Bahamas 2024

"Built in the 1700s, the building where the Graycliff is located is one of the oldest in Nassau. It was originally a pirate’s mansion (yes, Nassau was ruled by informal pirate code for a bit), but nowadays, it’s all lobster bisque and bread pudding here. This fine dining spot has some of the freshest ingredients on the island, and old-world colonial decor to match. What makes this place so special, though, is the excellent service, how perfectly the rooms have been preserved, and the fact that you’ll probably eat tuna tartare and center-cut beef tenderloin next to the who’s who of Nassau. After your meal, you’ll get the option to enjoy a cigar that’s hand-rolled on the property and some chocolate from the on-site factory you definitely won’t want to share. " - ashleigh sean rolle

"Graycliff Hotel & Restaurant, Nassau The Graycliff Restaurant atthe historic Graycliff Hotel was one of the first five-star restaurants in the Caribbean, and it’s the perfect place to go for an exceptional fine-dining experience, with a menu that combines Bahamian specialties with European cuisine. The restaurant has five dining areas, including a garden gazebo, plusprivate diningin the wine cellar and at the chef's table. The chef's secret recipes are masterfully prepared and take advantage of fresh local ingredients like conch and lobster. After the meal, you can take a cognac or a handmade cigar from the in-house cigar makers. Dinners at Graycliff have a dress code of no shorts or sandals, and jackets recommended for men."

"Though this restored 1740 mansion and historic landmark’s top billing is 20 guest rooms awash in tropical chintz and colonial-style furnishings,Graycliff is much more than a hotel. The restaurant has the feel of a residential dining room, albeit one that oozes traditional elegance and serves elevated takes on Bahamian specialties. You can pair dinner with a tasting in the property’s wine cellar, where the 250,000-bottle collection includes a rare (and expensive) 1865Château Lafite and a 1727 Rüdesheimer Apostelwein, the world’s oldest. Prefer something stiffer? The cognateque offers tastings of its 9,000 varieties. The staff can arrange rolling lessons at the on-site cigar company, but if the way to your heart is through your stomach there’s also a culinary academy and a chocolatier. And while the hotel is located in the heart of Nassau, just across from the pink-and-white residence of the Bahamian Governor General, guests enjoy complimentary beach access at private Blue Lagoon Island."

My wife and I went there for the tasting lunch and we're thoroughly impressed by the unbelievably professional wait staff that appear to have been there for decades. Be prepared for a 5-course tasting menu paired with five different wines. Be sure to tour the grounds and the largest Wine Cellar in the world. An absolutely unbelievable experience underground seeing bottles from the 1800s and even one from the 1700s

First and foremost, I want to commend the hotel for its exceptional customer service. I had the pleasure of speaking with a young lady at the front desk regarding plans for my business partner and me to bring our families to this wonderful historic hotel and restaurant. She had a pleasant and patient demeanor, answering all of my many questions with professionalism and kindness. Her helpfulness truly made a lasting impression.

Restaurant-Be careful. We visited here for lunch on Wednesday. For a cup of soup, steak frites, a bottle of water and a Diet Coke they charged $115.20. I didn’t anticipate a place like this taking advantage of visitors, but they did. The atmosphere is historic, unique, and worth the visit, but be careful as they will overcharge you substantially from the menu price.

While I did not stay here, I still got to enjoy the hospitality and amazing lunch service. Best food we had in the island. We were lucky that the sommelier was in and we got to tour the wine cellar - WOW!

Historic Hotel from the 1800's with an impressive wine cellar. We had an English Tea at the restaurant which was very good. The wait staff was excellent. Definitely recommended! Across the street we booked a wine tasting event and were well impressed. We walked back to our cruise ship and enjoyed the short downhill stroll (the walk on the docks to our ship was further than the walk back to the docks from the restaurant.)

I used to love going to Graycliff until I had an experience that reminded of a time I thought had passed. I frequent Graycliff for pleasure and business. Notwithstanding when I tried to take my father who is a black man for drinks and cigar early on Friday when the lounge was completely empty he was denied service for wearing short pants. There are no signs to this effect and I myself have been there in shorts along with others. No warning, no compromise just a refusal to serve. I can say with certainty it is not the fault of the owners but rather the fault of over zealous and quite frankly racist host. I would not suggest going here as a black man and certainly not as a black Bahamian until the host is removed or retired. I will be making a formal complaint as well for this embarrassing experience. A Bahamian man who is dressed nicely should not be refused service in his own country. This is shameful.

This is a quirky hotel; rooms are more tired boudoir than shabby chic. We were in the pool cottage set in the lush gardens and as the name suggests right by the pool. The pool is gorgeous but attracts large numbers of tourists, and the guides often stopped outside the cottage to explain loudly the pool's history. ||The restaurant is overpriced and not as good as it seems to think it is. My husband had to send his steak back as it was overdone. To be fair, the service was attentive and when the second steak arrived, my husband said it was as good a steak as he's had anywhere. ||Graycliff makes a thing of its extensive wine list but to present diners with a wine list that is over 150 pages long is ridiculous. We felt we were pushed into spending more than the wine warranted.||The 'complimentary' continental breakfast was farcical. Tax and service is not included and for a bit of toast, croissant and muffin is not good value. That said the service was friendly and attentive.||Graycliff have been totally unresponsive to my follow-up emails to chase a refund. $250 was taken to cover incidental expenses but we ended up settling the account on an another card and the $250 has not been refunded. I have tried to email directly (multiple times), used their website form and through booking.com but I haven't even received an acknowledgement.
