Great Service and incredible ice cream! In the middle of heaven....I mean 4 corners Tiverton.

Stephanie Gifford

Google
Grays Ice cream has been a staple for us since we were kids. I stopped in the other day and grabbed quarts of ice cream to take home. Black raspberry is exactly as I remember it as a kid still amazing!!!! Staff is great.

Kristin Brown

Google
This was my first time at Gray's, and we had a great time. The staff was friendly and helpful. I ordered a butterscotch milkshake, and it was delicious. My daughter's enjoyed some chocolate chip and blackberry ice cream. We will definitely visit again.

Connie Janggen

Google
Have been going to Grey’s for 20 years. I ordered my regular size small today and was literally served half a cup of what it used to be for $6. Disappointing!

Josh Flores

Google
Very holsome spot it little compton next to woods an few streets away from fog land beach , lines worth it when the locals are all so nice

Google
I grew up going to Grays but haven’t been in almost a decade. I was shocked at the prices considering I’ve been to other places recently with homemade ice cream that are not nearly as expensive. The kids loved their ice cream. My husband had the butter crunch but said there wasn’t much crunch in it. I had the orange pineapple which was always my staple there. It was good but not as good as I remember it to be. The main issue is that at the bottom of the cup there was maple walnut mixed in. Luckily I don’t have an allergy but this could have been very dangerous for someone that does. Overall, I’m disappointed and won’t be making the hour drive again for awhile.

Stephen St.Pierre

Google
Gray's remains one of my favorite ice cream joints. They make all their own ice cream - it's always so thick, creamy, and delicious, not filled with air like some other places and most store-bought. Black raspberry is my favorite!

dave perez

Google
Portions are small but the chocolate brownie ice cream was really good.

L F.

Yelp
Four generations of my family have enjoyed Gray's in Tiverton. Coffee Oreo is a great choice, but you can't really go wrong with any of their flavors. The kids working the windows are good kids. Really kind and attentive.

Yelp
WHY DON'T THEY TAKE CARE OF THE SPIDERS? we make a trip annually to Little Compton. We hit aa beach and then Gray's. Its a part of my mother's childhood. SPIDERS just chillin on the ceiling abover ordering. I am not just talking Daddy long legs. I am talking large, with white bellies, SPIDERS! Fearfully they will fall on me as some are just dropping down. Basic flavors except... I have never seen butterscotch on a menu before so I did it! It was delicious. I just love butterscotch! 2 stars due to the overflowing garbage, SPIDERS, mosquitos and lack of seating (they have 2 tables in the dark)

Yelp
Orange Pineapple and Peach Brandy Ice Cream at longstanding local favorite, Gray's Ice Cream, in Tiverton, Rhode Island, required some effort to eat because it wasn't fresh, not rich, grainy texture, and unfathomably AWFUL! I had to throw out a lot of Gray's Ice Cream - bought a medium, more like large. Hate wasting food and money! When Halo Top is better, you yelp and say to skip!

Caz F.

Yelp
Let's be honest.... You're at a local tourist spot. The ice cream is always delicious, the servers are awesome, the line is long, and it is pricey. Find a treat that isn't.

Yelp
Hadn't been here in several years so we decided to go for a drive then stop in for some ice cream. My husband loves butter crunch but he said it had zero crunch. I had chocolate chip cookie dough. It was ok but I have to say what I disliked was the consistency of the actual ice cream base. It tasted too pasty. Sorry, I always enjoy leaving good reviews but this was our take on Grey's this season.

Mrs S.

Yelp
My husband and my stepdaughter wanted to try this place, so I decided to joined them . Very friendly staff offered us samples which was always gpod I had a kid size yogurt coffee which was great, not overly sweet and hints of coffee. my husband had a small size black raspberry which was enormous! my stepdaughter had peach. surprised to see bad reviews, they were awesome.

Jon P.

Yelp
went in for a coffee frappe with extra ice cream and extra syrup. the girl put CHOCOLATE syrup instead of coffee syrup disgusting !

Tymika B.

Yelp
Ice cream is tacky and chewy, I put a piece in the sink I dropped and it melted down to a clue like substance. Establishment isn't very clean nor are they friendly by any means. A lot of handling money while still wearing the same gloves to hand you your ice cream. Only busy due to the location, I don't recommend. Take a drive to Helgers or scenic route to Woods Ice Cream.

Yelp
When we first moved to Rhode Island, we took a trip to Tiverton to get a lay of the land. We passed Gray's on a late fall day and remembered a recommendation from a local friend about them, and stopped in for some seasonal scoops. Our first trip, I had the rum raisin ice cream and was delighted with the strong flavor. Hubby had the pumpkin, which was perfect for the fall season, and was also very unapologetic in it's pumpkin spice-ness. We also tried some samples, I sampled the pudding ice cream which was eclectic, and hubby sampled the pistachio, which was pretty good. Once summer returned, so did we to Grey's. We went Memorial day weekend and the place was slammed. I opted for a chocolate malt, which was thick, smooth and perfectly malty, whereas hubby went for a fruit double scoop of blueberry and raspberry. I had never had a blueberry ice cream before, and I was hesitant, but it was truly the best fruit ice cream I've ever had. Prices are good for the quality of the product, and parking is plentiful and easy to access at Tiverton four corners. The stand is staffed by mostly high school students, which I love because it encourages entrepreneurial experience and work ethic training. Grey's is a must-see stop in Tiverton...you won't regret it!

Lauri C.

Yelp
A long established ice cream stand in Tiverton. They make the ice cream and the servings are large. They make every kind of ice cream beverage

Yelp
Wonderful Ice Cream - Every time we go! The prices seem a little steep, that us until you see the size of the portions! They are very generous and worth every penny. I definitely recommend the flavors in the coffee genre, New England knows how to do coffee flavored things, and Gray's is New England through and through. We love to enjoy our ice cream at the covered picnic tables to the right of the entrance. We did use the port-a-potty during our last visit. It was shockingly clean. They've covered all the bases.
google avatar

Alfred A.

Yelp
Delicious homemade ice cream, lots of flavors from the standard flavors to ginger, frozen pudding, grape nut, etc. They make shakes, malts, sundaes and banana splits too. I got a small pistachio and that was more like 3 normal sized scoops. You get big portions here, but the prices are a little high. I think 4.75 is a bit much for a small, but it was delicious!
google avatar

Fion L.

Yelp
Great local spot! There was always a line here after coming home from dinner but the line moves quickly and plenty of room to space out. The ice cream I had here was delicious and you get so much! My small looked like a large and for the price it was such a good deal.

Yelp
I'm sure that many local ice cream shops are the "best" in the area. We have been lucky enough to try several. There are many factors that go into this. Great fresh ice cream, rich and creamy with excellent quality addictions like chocolate chunks or chips, nuts, or fruits. Gray's is the best east bay ice cream spot we have found and we are lucky to spend time nearby every year. I am actually surprised that it only has a 3.5 rating here in yelp. We love Gray's and look forward to our regular summertime visits. In 2020 they have implemented all the proper COVID controls. The staff are all very good for ice cream servers. They get the order done right and quickly and can make the proper change. I don't expect a lot more from them. Gray's is worth a visit. It is a great place to take the kids.

FearHD T.

Yelp
absolutely the worst ice cream place to exist they don't have soft serve and on top of that they DO NOT KNOW HOW TO LOAD A CONE they over loaded my cone to the point it just collapsed after on tiny lick and my hands were drenched simply the fact the workers have no clue what they are doing what a waste of a over priced ice cream then i get a "well that's ur problem" nice never going there again nor do i recommend people to go there

Yelp
Gray's Ice Cream is a long-time establishment located here in my hometown. I have been coming here since I was a little girl. I can remember back to when I was getting over a cold, or a stomach bug and my parent's asking me if there was anything that I wanted or craved, and I would always look at them and say "Gray's chocolate frappe", so Dad would get me in the car and take me for that shake!! lol (funny how you can remember all the little things in life). Coming here gives people an excuse to drive through our beautiful town, as it's located right in the heart of historic Tiverton Four Corners. Not only will you get some of the most creamy, flavorful homemade ice cream, you will also get to take in all the beautiful sites along the way! They have a pretty big list of homemade flavors including some of my favorites... Peppermint, Coconut, Peanut Butter, Mint Chip, Cookie Dough, Oreo, Blueberry, Butter Krunch, Cherry Vanilla, Maple Walnut, Ginger, Lemon, Strawberry Cheesecake and so many more!!! Be sure to try their Pumpkin & Eggnog Seasonal flavors when they are available too!! Fantastic Frappes, Waffle Cones and Sundaes too!!

Deb G.

Yelp
Grays was a childhood favorite so we thought we would revisit on a Friday night. It was during Covid conditions so you have to call ahead with your order. So I ordered a small blueberry with hot sauce and nuts. Well the ice cream quality was as I remember very good. However to pay .75 for less then a tsp of nuts and the hot sauce didn't even reach the bottom of the cup was a disgrace. So basically $6 for one scoop of ice cream with a hint of sauce was very disappointing. Grays you need to be a bit more generous with your servings!!

Yelp
This place is fine in the summer but skip it in the winter. Their ice cream is old and becomes a very strange texture. It's gummy and stringy and stretches so that it wraps around your spoon like spaghetti. I just bought a pint for $8 and brought it home to find out it's inedible.
google avatar

Merlyn R.

Yelp
I went to RI with a friend and her family LOVES Gray's. They purchased multiple pints to enjoy over the week including: Ginger, Coffee Chip, Black Raspberry, and Chocolate Walnut. As a lactose free person, I was a bit apprehensive to try, but after my first bite, I saw the hype. my personal favorite was ginger - uncommon ice cream flavor but don't knock it till you try it.
google avatar

Allie A.

Yelp
When I review, I also take into consideration other places I have purchased the same thing and overall experience. Well, that, and I have had a TON of ice cream experience LOL Prices are maybe a tad higher than other places in the area, BUT cones actually have ice cream inside the cone (last place I went to in town didn't), flavors are good, ice cream is creamy, and waffle cones are FRESH. Service was very quick and overall the experience hit the spot. The only thing I'll note... the flavors are "older". So, for instance, old standbys like black raspberry, pistachio, chocolate, vanilla are on the menu, but of you are craving a cake batter, rocky road, or something similar - it isn't there. What they do have though is solid quality ice cream and service. :) We had the oreo and black raspberry. Black raspberry seems to be a fan favorite- and for good reason. Oreo was good, but not especially creamy. Just not a huge fan, but still good. We will be back again after enjoying a hike in the area I'm sure.

Yelp
This is the place that I cheat on my diet. Their Ice cream is so good. Butter Krunch is my favorite. They have a huge selection. They also have a big parking lot and a few picnic "huts"
google avatar

Ethan S.

Yelp
Located at Tiverton four corners. Homemade ice cream. Best coffee cabinet in Rhode Island. They take credit cards now. They also have a location in Bristol, RI.
google avatar

Kim I.

Yelp
So this was my first time here I just accidentally happened upon it I got myself a large double scoop waffle cone ice cream with chocolate walnut and butter crunch the service is amazing the food is great and there are many places to sit in the shade while enjoying your reasonably priced dessert will totally be back
google avatar

Daria D.

Yelp
I came across Gray's online while searching for some places to visit in Rhode Island. My dad and I were staying about 35 minutes from the ice cream shop and decided to make the drive to try it out. There are a variety of ice cream flavors and you can sample before you order. My dad got blueberry and I got coffee chip and butter pecan. It was good, but honestly can't say that it was something special and out of the ordinary. We sat in the car as we ate the ice cream. It was chilly out and there is no indoor seating. They do sell ice cream in containers to buy to take home as well as some items you can find in a typical grocery store. Yelp says they are open until 9 PM but the sign on the front door stated that they are open until 7 PM.
google avatar

Moxie M.

Yelp
everyone is super nice and the ice cream is awesome! really recommend the waffle cones
google avatar

Shawn H.

Yelp
Great oreo and coffee chip flavors.

Diane C.

Yelp
We live right down the street and get ice cream way too much for my diet. But it's always worth it and hard to say no to.
google avatar

Kate D.

Yelp
Went as an adult for the first time after going several times as a kid. Teens served us at the window. Asked for two pints, one mint chocolate chip and one chocolate banana (the special). We were told the mint chip was too hard to pack in a pint (??) and they said the banana might be too hard as well. Had to pick another flavor after they didn't even try (ice cream should never be too hard to package into a pint, like cmon) and settled on mocha chip. $14 for two pints and the chocolate banana only tasted like banana and the mocha chip tastes like nothing. Please go to Somerset Creamery before here.
google avatar

Dave T.

Yelp
A perfect spot to end a great day at the beach! All ice cream is made in house and large flavor selection You can get pistachio 3 ways, with nuts, without nuts or with chocolate chips. Very popular spot. I had pistachio with nuts, my better half had maple Walnut frozen yogurt. Yum! We will return

Lisa L.

Yelp
True, creamy, homemade ice cream! They also offered two vegan (non-dairy flavors). The portions were generous for the cost. We went multiple times during our stay in the area.
google avatar

Brian S.

Yelp
Classic winter scream Grey's Ice Cream has been sitting on this corner at the Four Corners of Tiverton forever. Or at least a large portion of forever. Definitely a classic New England Ice cream place, you can even go and look at the cows that the ice cream comes from. Just watch out for all the manure. A simple place without any fluff. Just really, really good ice cream and not much else. But of course with ice cream that good you don't need much else. Lots of different flavors and they are all made right there at the dairy. The portions are huge and the prices aren't really bad all things considered. Most ice cream shops around RI close in the winter but Grey's is open all year long so you can get your ice cream fix in the coldest and nastiest weather. A New England classic that will probably be sitting on this corner for a long, long time to come.
google avatar

Michele C.

Yelp
Disappointing to say the least. It started with the service, the young girl who took the order was unfriendly, rude and hurried. She seemed annoyed when I asked a couple of questions regarding the choices, then coldly stated the price, which was outrageous considering the portion, taste and presentation (the fudge sauce was all over the outside of the container,) then curtly passed us on to the pickup window. The server there made no attempt to be nice or polite. When I had to ask for napkins, he silently grabbed the holder and plopped in front of us. Two one-scoop sundaes for $15? No thank you. We won't be back. Too many other good ice cream shops with consistently much better friendly service...Somerset Creamery, Inside Scoop, The Vanilla Bean to name a few. That's the last time I will go to Gray's.
google avatar

Lolo D.

Yelp
I ordered peppermint in an home made waffle cone. (the peppermint has chocolate in it... (bummer) but the waffle cone was amazing and i got past the chocolate and enjoyed the whole thing.
google avatar

Vee M.

Yelp
This place has the best ice cream! Large parking lot to keep everyone with distance and an orderly made line. Quick ordering and picking up. I say, it's a great quick spot to get a really nice big serving of your favorite flavor of ice cream!
google avatar

Nicole K.

Yelp
Blueberry and Peach Brandy were both great. There were actually pieces of blueberry which was nice, but not too many. The Peach Brandy just tasted like peach; it's a shame there was no brandy haha. A pretty long line but worth the wait. A little high price wise, but these folks do not skimp on the scoops! Huge portions, convenient location, and a great tasting product. Well done.
google avatar

Robert S.

Yelp
The size of the ice cream servings are huge !!! I asked for Grape Nut on a sugar cone and it was very good. I wanted to get a sherbet, but they were not available yet for the season. I also wanted to know if they had something smaller than the Small Cone for $4. ...Like a kiddie cone..... The answer was no. Good tasting ice cream....
google avatar

Jim B.

Yelp
This used to be the only ice cream place that I would dream about growing up. Like everything else, it seems like it has changed, and not for the better. The cherry vanilla is not vanilla anymore with the dark cherries. It is a pink looking ice cream with regular Sundae cherries in it. Waffle bowls were just mediocre at best. As an FYI you may want to make sure that you hit a restroom before attempting the Porta potty's there as they were unfit to use.

Frank B.

Yelp
The ice cream here is very very good. The location is great. Perfect for a drive on a nice day, or a stop after the beach. However, I must agree with some other reviews on here regarding service. The last two times I've been the staff could not care less about providing a good service. It really is as if you're bothering them. A line will get backed up and they'll be multiple people inside standing around talking and one window taking an order. They're also still going pretty hard in the paint with covid precautions. They're not logical at this point. Especially considering the whole process is outdoors. It could be that the local elites like that type of virtue signaling. I'm not really sure.

Jacqueline H.

Yelp
Unfortunate customer service, seriously. Granted, it could be that the child who took our order was parroting what she thought was appropriate treatment of customers, but it wasn't. She was curt and loud. When we asked for a sundae with two scoops of ice cream, she snapped at us. Bad day, maybe? Having not been to Gray's in more than a decade, we were excited to be there for a big sundae. Instead, we had a small sundae, mediocre at best, ridiculously overpriced (location perhaps?) and were left with a bad taste in our mouths. No worries, Gray's, we will take our money elsewhere, and you can keep your lousy customer service and your very small (and overpriced) sundaes.
google avatar

K D.

Yelp
Gray's is a classic! You know, the real dairy that churns your stomach?!!? I'm not sure if it is as good as it was when I was a little kid but it is definitely a nice stopping point on a hot summer day, or sunny autumn day, or unseasonably warm early spring day --- well, it is good any day you need an ice cream treat. They have the basic flavors, plus a few old timey flavors like rum raisin, and butter pecan. I wish they jazzed it up a little and tried some newer, even experimental flavors!
google avatar

Andrew D.

Yelp
Best ice cream I've ever tasted. The blackberry and mocha are amazing. I've been going here since the 80's. My grandparents used to drive here from Newport to get served up that dank. The cows next door give this place the old New England vibe that is dissipating over the last few decades. Go if you can!
google avatar

Lindsay F.

Yelp
Stopped there today with my husband and 2 little boys. They stayed in the car as I ordered as it would have been hard to stand at a window balancing the little ones. I ordered 1 waffle cone (2 scoops)- maple walnut flavor, 2 small cups of vanilla ice cream with sprinkles & whip & a medium cup of vanilla ice cream with sprinkles & whip. Wait for it....$27!!!!!! Are they out of their minds!? The worst part, taste sucked! I tasted my husbands maple walnut and it was okay but the vanilla tasted so fake. It was yellowing in color like a French vanilla and consistency was very much like paste. Not impressed at all for the price. I've had some amazing homemade ice cream and this place is NOT it. I will call this stop a big mistake and it won't be happening again. It's to bad too... On the good side, service was good. It wasn't busy due to it starting to rain I think and it wasn't a super hot day so I'm unsure on how busy it gets here. Personally, I wouldn't even waste your time stopping. The Carmel sundae at McDonald's is better and I don't call that ice cream. ‍
google avatar

John L.

Yelp
Let's not fall back on tradition and reputation. Stopped with my grandkids and spent almost $23 for ice cream that was less than great. There is no kids size - which is sheer arrogance on their part. The ice cream was so soft that I barely made it back to the window to get a cup. The ice cream is fairly flavorless and has a gluey consistency.. Really miss Korner Kones in Little Compton. A trip to Dairy Freeze soft serve would have been more fun - with little difference in taste.
google avatar

Emmy M.

Yelp
This is a great spot to get ice cream after a long hike through the Weetamoo woods or a drive through Tiverton and Little Compton. Gray's is easy to spot and has ample parking. Service is very friendly, the ice cream portions are huge, and they even have a small lawn with benches and a nice stone fence for seating. I went with a waffle cone of the mint chip and it really hit the spot. It wasn't the most amazing ice cream I've had in my life, but it was very good, and I loved sitting outside to enjoy it with a nice view of Four Corners. One thing that could be improved is access to a bathroom. There was a sign by the counter that said they don't have a public restroom, but do have port-a-potties on the premises. For a relatively large building as far as ice cream joints go (it's not a shack), and with long lines of people, I was surprised they didn't have a bathroom. Oh well. Huge portions of ice cream with a nice spot to sit and enjoy - I'll definitely stop here again!
google avatar

Diana M.

Yelp
Pricey for portion size. The pistachio had no pistachios in it- was super disappointed. I like chunky ice cream.
google avatar

Ed K.

Yelp
Small servings, overpriced, poor service, good ice cream. Stopped by to order some ice cream and the entire staff was having a group ice cream eating exercise. The high school kid behind the counter got my order wrong. No biggie, still good ice cream. For $7 for a Sundae you actually expect a decent serving of ice cream but I'm fairly certain the Oreo cookie crumble sundae I attempted to order was smaller than a double scoop in a cone...truly a sad amount of ice cream for the price.
google avatar

Sarah W.

Yelp
A Tiverton landmark; friendly but not very. Not many flavors compared to some, but most are good. Unfortunately, their prices have gone through the roof without explanation or apology. I was embarrassed to spend $6.50 on a coffee frappe yesterday, but I noticed that if I'd wanted a sundae, it would have been $9. Gray's is not better than other local places like Wood's in Westport, but they were fine. Now not so much.
google avatar

Brian A.

Yelp
As an ice cream addict I have to say this was pretty awesome. I went old school with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sprinkles (or jimmies if you're from Jersey) and a waffle cone that was to die for. 10/10 would devour ice cream here again.

Stef S.

Yelp
Perfect place to stop after a nice beach day or even before, huge selection of flavors and for me the best ice creams. Don't mind if I take 2
