Greek Belly in Springfield, Missouri is a hidden treasure! Stepping inside feels like being whisked away to Greece with its captivating atmosphere. The food? Absolutely fantastic! Every dish bursts with authentic flavors, from the juicy gyros to the heavenly baklava. The service is top-notch, with staff going above and beyond to ensure a perfect dining experience. I highly recommend Greek Belly to anyone in the area. Don't miss out on this culinary delight—I'm already planning my next visit and spreading the word to all my friends!

Outstanding! Coming through Springfield for the night and found this gem! Food was fresh, tasty, authentic and on mark. Service was superb. Gyros, spanikopita, falafa, baklava, and custard bougatsa. Our taste buds are thankful!

As a person who had only ever had mall Greek food, I was really excited to finally adventure into Greek Belly. The inside is fun and the music is great. The waitress was super patient with my questions and helped me pick something more adventurous than a basic gyro. (Though the jury is still out on how to pronounce that.) Our food came quickly and was *amazing*. The spicy feta dip was flavorful and just spicy enough for a kick without setting me on fire. The fries were crispy and the *best* kind of fries-- battered! Will definitely go back to try more things.

Google
Absolutely amazing! The flavor and the depth of everything shone through tremendously. I ordered the Minotaur Gyro, husband ordered the Midas Gyro, and we got the Spanakopita to share. You can tell everything is made with love from quality ingredients. We were just passing through town on our way to St Louis, and glad we made this stop.

Google
We loved Greek belly, after going to Greece a few summers ago we’ve been disappointed by so many Greek restaurants in the USA, but Greek belly is authentic, incredibly delicious and an amazing gem on our travels back to Michigan! We got the Greek mountain tea (tasty but a tad too sweet) build your own pita with lamb, drunken pepper sauce, spicy feta, it was amazing! My husband was also pleased and he can be hard to satisfy :-) (with food) lol

Google
Brilliant food! If you aren’t used to traditional Greek Gyros, this place may seem strange at first! These are not the Gyros most places serve in the states. These are traditional, authentic Greek gyros! I LOVE this place. Everything I’ve had on the menu has been excellent! Baklava, gyros, feta fries and more! It’s always fresh, and generous with fillings! The ambiance is an added bonus. The restaurant is a little small, but they’ve captured the essence of Greek culture and make you feel like you’re actually vacationing in Greece while you’re eating! 10/10 MUST try!

Google
I've been wanting to try this place for awhile...and now I wish I had been sooner! I loved everything about this place! The atmosphere, the decor, the music. It felt like I stepped into another culture for an hour. And the food was excellent. We loved everything we tried and look forward to next time!

Google
Love this place. The eclectic Greek themed vibes of the restaurant and it's cozy size really gives you the feel of Greece. The food it great and authentic also. Every bite as well as the atmosphere had me reliving my Athens visit. Both the food and service were great

Yelp
We love Greek Belly so much!!!!! My boyfriend is a huge fan of their food, and loves the Greek flavors and ingredients. I myself am still warming up to it,, only because I grew up a picky eater!! But everything in the menu has such a great amount of flavor and it's cooked to perfection. I think my favorite part of Greek Belly is the restaurant itself. The decoration is so fun, the umbrellas are perfect for the Greek decor. I am obsessed with it.. Service is always great too! Everyone seems like they're happy to work there. We love Greek Belly!!!!

Yelp
Wow! This food is very fresh and super flavorful! Service is efficient and the kitchen worked very effectively to provide a great lunch. We will be back.

Yelp
Amazing service, absolutely incredible food. The sauces are to die for. I got the falafel platter, and it was delicious. I've had a pita/gyro here before and it was also very good. I've only had good experiences. I definitely recommend this place. And it's cute to boot!

Yelp
Consistently good food! I've never been to Greece but have heard others say this stuff is authentic! I judge all other Greek food against Greek belly.

Yelp
I don't remember the last time my family was this happy about a meal! The kids started off grouchy and complaining that they "don't even like Greek food!!!!" because we were all so hungry when we arrived. It was prime lunch hour, so the small restaurant was packed and the kitchen was busy. We had an understandably long wait, but let me tell you- when the food arrived everyone's attitude changed. The warm pita is amazing, we ordered a side of garlic sauce (incredible, even the kids loved it), and each of our meals was worthy of a letter home. We ordered 3 of the vegan options and they were filling, fresh, and joy-inducing. Now the kids want to come back weekly to get their favorite Greek food - how's that for a transformation? The restaurant is SO fun inside. You are transported straight to a Greek isle, or a Mamma Mia! movie. We highly recommend this place for families AND vegans!

Yelp
Authentic, delicious Greek cuisine! Not to mention the great service. We got the Dip appetizer with the whipped feta peperoncini dip and the gyros platter with the garlic dip and both were phenomenal. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
First time visiting here. Have been to several of the neighboring businesses in the past. And kept wanting to try this. The Greek Belly did not disappoint. From the saganaki opa lit on fire table side by our server, to the huge chicken rice bowl, and finalized with the peach marmalade Greek yogurt, all the food was great. We were amazed at the size of the rice bowl and the dessert. And the flaming cheese is a fun experience that got neighboring tables talking when it was lit on fire. We will definitely be making a return trip here.

Tuesday E.

Yelp
The servers were helpful and not overbearing, the actual restaurant is quite small, but one might say it added a somewhat noisier and celebratory air! The flaming cheese was a treat! However, our 6 meals can only be described as good, but not great or anything to be sure to stop for, unfortunately.

Yelp
We're baaaaaaacck! Greek Belly was our first stop in Springfield last night. It did not disappoint. My original review stands as 100% accurate. Food, service, cleanliness and atmosphere - all 5 stars. Do recommend!

Yelp
Hey John....Here is the scathing review I promised. A couple of weeks ago I ordered the souvlaki trio for pick up with tzatziki sauce. Upon arriving home discovered they had given me the wrong sauce. I only like the tzatziki. I called back and asked for a do over since my food would have been cold by time I could make another round trip. They agreed....so I load up and head back (without my wallet). I get the order and the server replied "my bad" when she gave it to me. I asked for an extra sauce thinking that would be the least they could do after I had to make another round trip. Oh no, there was a charge. I explained I didn't have my wallet but to no avail. Upon arriving home, I discovered they had not included slaw in my do over. When I called, the server said, "well, I gave you slaw the first time"....which was now hot. I decided to phone John (owner) to explain about my unhappy experience. His first response was "what can I do in order to make me happy so I would not post this review". I said, "you tell me". He said, "no, you tell me". I thought ok, perhaps another do over. I was in the process of saying that when out of nowhere, he interrupted me to say, "I don't respond to threats" and then hung up on me!!!!!!!!!!! What ever happened to customer service? He said he had been in the restaurant business for 75 years....evidently, he hasn't learned much in that time about customer service (which is out of the window these days). SO, I want to discourage everyone from going there and try CRAVE restaurant instead (Greek). It is 100 times better. They are on Republic Road across the street from Mama Jean's. Try their lemonade! Also, John, the tzatziki sauce you get at Aldi's is much better than yours. Judy N.

Yelp
Staying downtown and wanted to grab some food close to the hotel. Luckily enough for us. Greek Belly was almost across the street. We walked in around 5:40 and got seated immediately. Discovered we had caught the tail end of happy hour! So we quickly ordered several skewers and a dip and pita to try! The apps: chicken skewer had good seasoning and was tender. Would get again. Pork skewer was my favorite. It had a little more chew because of the fattiness in the meat. Fat is flavor so I wasnt upset at all. Seasoning was great. Falafel was good I wish we got a few more! Pro tip from waiter was to dip falafel in our dip and yes it made it so much better! Dip and pita we chose the spicy feta blend and my daughter and I thought it had some great flavor. Pretty sure we licked the bowl clean. I ordered the Hercules gyro - huge! 2x everything except the sauce. I think it needed more sauce. Meat flavor was on point and the pita was soft and held up to all the juices. She got the Minotaur and she said it was really good. She almost was able to eat the whole gyro! The fries were the star! Those dang fries were fried to perfection and had some amazing seasoning! Next time I want a side of fries with my gyro! Until next time Springfield!

Monica S.

Yelp
Excellent service and food! We were in town for a conference, and saw excellent reviews of Greek Belly. We had the Falafel Meze and the Souvlaki Trio. Delicious! Our waiter was attentive and so friendly. We highly recommend!

Yelp
These fries are AMAZING! The pita I got is fantastic and my son loves his grilled cheese! I'm so glad I got Greek Belly for dinner tonight! Can't believe I've lived 500ft away for more than a year and never ate here. I've got to make up for lost time. Quaint little spot downtown that fits the vibe beautifully. They've always got customers, so that should tell you everything you need to know.

Yelp
I was visiting in town and we stopped here on a recommendation. I was looking for something healthy, but still really tasty. I told my son I wanted chic food. While this doesn't constitute chic Food, possibly, it definitely hits the healthy and scrumptious category. I have to say I'm a little bit upset that we don't have this restaurant in my hometown. Their food was over the top amazing. It was so so good. I ended up eating here two days in a row. On the second day I got the order to go when my family wanted to eat another restaurant. Is it bad that I took my order into another restaurant? ? lol. The food was amazing and I felt like I got a good healthy whole meal without all the processed junk. I definitely love this place and would suggest this place to anyone. The portions are really big so you don't have to worry about walking away, hungry. You can walk away feeling really full and knowing that you had a healthy male that doesn't make you feel like you're going to have stomach rot after. Something about Greek food ... get the fries, get the feta, dive in and enjoy. It's a real treat.

Yelp
I do not see what all the hype is about Greek Belly... it's horrible!! The restaurant is small, overcrowded, and it was very hot inside for it only being in the high 70° outside. And the parking is horrible! We ordered the to-go pork Gryo platter for my hubby for $14.00. The portion of overcooked burnt to crispy hard shredded pork was SO small it reminded us of a child's plate. We both decided on the greek fries which were good and the slaw which is bitter tasting. I got the souvlaki platter with 2 skewers of pork for $16.00 and paid $2.00 extra for 1 skewer of lamb. The pork was cubed the size of a dime and the lamb was even a little smaller than a dime. All the meat had a lot of fat on them so they were greasy but had a nice flavor with a little kick of spice. Again a child's size portion. Nothing could get us to ever go back...from fighting to get a parking spot to the overpriced child sized portions the Greek Belly is not worth revisiting!!

Yelp
Loved coming here when I visit Springfield! Service is always great, restaurant is clean, service is fast. Ambiance varies depending on how busy it is! It can get busy in the evening! Food is authentic and fresh.

Yelp
Real Greek food. Very friendly and attentive service. Even decorations are authentic.
google avatar

Esme G.

Yelp
This is an amazing place to eat. Real Greek food. John and his staff is amazing very friendly and makes you feel welcome. And food is very savory

Stephen M.

Yelp
The servers are rude. I've worked in the culinary industry for 30 years. In family restaurants and ultra fine dining. But it doesn't matter what type of establishment, how good the food is or how awesome the atmosphere...rude service equals bad restaurant. I'll never go back.
google avatar

Violet S.

Yelp
The portions were generous, but I've had better Greek salad. I really appreciated the heap of feta, but wanted more than eight olives. I found it interesting that there were no beef gyro options, only chicken or pork. And I wasn't a fan of the pork. Maybe it's because I didn't get the right food, but I don't think I will go back. The Loux cherry soda was good, just be aware it's small ($2.50 for 10 fl oz.)

Yelp
Our experience here was terrible. We ordered a Medusa and a Kraken for carryout. Our food took a long time and then both were so salty or over seasoned or something so we could barely eat them. Also, the staff was so rude to us. We ordered at 6:30pm on Saturday night so they were super busy. At 7pm I went to to ask for a refund and they finally gave us our food. When I complained about the wait I felt almost ganged up on by the staff in their response. The waitress who took our order did not tell us it would be 30 minutes and we saw two takeout orders go out before us. One of those other takeout orders even mentioned they were surprised we hadn't received our food yet. This was a surprising and very disappointing experience for super not good food. Maybe this was an anomaly but this was our experience.

Yelp
First time I've been in Springfield. My wife and I stopped here for lunch. Our waiter was great. Decor is cute. Great beer selection. We split a bowl of chicken avgelemono soup and the souvlakis plate with chicken, pork, and vegetable. The food was wonderful. Definitely worth stopping in.

Jo Anne G.

Yelp
Let's play spot the feta cheese and spinach in my spanakopita Falafel appetizer looks store bought like a hockey puck not home made and it didn't come with any sauce. Ever try to eat a dry falafel? At no time did the server asked do you want sauce? First time here. Will keep looking for some place to eat.

Yelp
Wife has been wanting to try this place for awhile; especially since we are tons of Greek food in Oregon. It's actually a pretty small place so I wouldn't recommend coming in with a party bigger than 4, even then you may have trouble finding seats. You place your order at the counter and they bring it to you; which took awhile to get our order. I was also extremely disappointed they didn't offer Lamb for my gyro. It was okay but definitely nothing amazing, and didn't compare to the more traditional food we have had. My wife actually said the Greek place in the Mall was way better.. So while I appreciate the diversity; these "ethic food" places need to step up their game. We are ready for real diversity people; give it to us!!!

Yelp
Delicious food. Family friendly. Stopped here on our road trip and was very happy. My spouse spent a summer in Greece many years ago and was excited to see how authentic the gyros were from his memory.

Scotti D.

Yelp
So. Good. Got the Greek salad with both pork and chicken and it was amaaaazing. I would mainline their garlic dip sauce if I could.
google avatar

Dre' M.

Yelp
I would rate this place 5 stars for the atmosphere and decor alone. Sitting there actually made me feel as if I could actually be in some part of Greece. The issue was that I sat there in Greece way too long before my food order came out and received a soft drink refill. The City Salad was very under dressed and the Slovaki Chicken Kabobs were a bit thin and under seasoned. If I were to return, I would definitely try a Gyro.

Yelp
Nice little restaurant in downtown. Place look chill. Love the vibe and the deco inside. If u look up the at the ceiling, there are a lot of different colors umbrella hanging. We order the Prometheus Platter a mix grill meats of beefteki, loukaniko, souvlaki stick, garlic french fries, some red onions and tomatoes salad with two dips ( tzatziki, drunken red pepper) and warm crunchy pitas. The meat was so juicy and amazing. I love dipping the pita bread in the tzatziki sauce with the tomato and onion. It have the nice warm and crispy taste together and then I eat the loukaniko so gooood!! The beefteki was like a meatball, I try it with the red pepper dip and it tastes very delicious. The chicken stick was okie, not my favorite but it was not bad. I also got a side of village salad which taste fresh and refreshing. And of course couldn't forget to order a baklava for dessert. It was so good. One of the best I ever have. A must try greek place in Springfield downtown.

Yelp
I placed a Togo order and was not disappointed. My order was ready when I arrived. The creamy garlic dip was a little spicy, but the hummus and tzatziki were phenomenal. Definitely recommend this place!

Yelp
We stopped in for dinner July 22, 2024. The food was great. Both the wife's dinner as well as mine were delicious. The service was excellent. Our waiter was very professional and great personality. We were visiting from New Mexico and so was heading further east.

Yelp
Family dinner on Saturday and we were thrilled to find this jewel on Yelp. Lived up to its 4.4 star rating. Seated right away, we were delighted by the cozy atmosphere with creative umbrella ceiling decor. Wait staff were attentive and gracious in sharing recommendations on the menu... which did not disappoint. Two in our family shared the Prometheus shareable platter and a Kraken gyro. The other two had a create your own bowl and Atlantis pita. After enjoying their homemade baklava, we left full and happy. Such a great experience. We would highly recommend.

Yelp
This place was a great find...coming from Seattle passing thru I was hungry. This place was awesome, look at the picture I was full after eating this, very delicious. Great job guys

Aidian S.

Yelp
The food was pretty good, the servers were very nice, but the one thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the seating. It's a little bit smaller of a place, so people were packed in like sardines. We went right at the lunch rush so that part is us, but next time I'll wait til just after the rush and then go. Because once it cleared out a bit it was just fine. We will go back

Kara S.

Yelp
This place is so cute and the food is amazing! We had incredible service. The gyros are so authentic and the kids meals incorporate Greek elements while keeping American staples that kids love (i.e. burger on pita). We will come back when we're back in Springfield!
google avatar

Yelp
Nice staff Cute interior Really good gyros Spouse had Greek salad and a pork pita. I had the Atlantis Pita. All I can say is YUM!

Yelp
First time. Visiting the area w/ family. Ambiance was nice with colored lighting. Felt like being in Greece. Ordered Bouyourdi: the sauce was warm and delicious. Prometheus feast: the meat was seasoned and cooked well. Two ppl couldn't finish it. City Greek salad w/ falafel & rosiki sauce: the sauce is different made w/ Mayo, potatoes, peas & carrots. It paired well w/ the salad and pita. Service was polite and informative :)
google avatar

Brooke L.

Yelp
This place is probably our favorite restaurant in Springfield. It's always busy in the evenings but the service is really efficient and everyone is really friendly. We always opt for the gyro platter: chicken or pork, french fries, vinegar slaw, tomatoes/cucumber/onion. They give you healthy portions but we always get the falafel mezze (4 freshly fried falafel balls). And if you've got a sweet tooth, they have excellent baklava!
google avatar

Amy H.

Yelp
Such a great experience! The service was fantastic and the food was delicious. Our server was very helpful as we asked multiple questions. Everything came out hot & fresh--a great value for the quality and portions. We will certainly be returning soon!

Yelp
We come to Springfield once a year for 5 days for a work trip and like to try different restaurants each time. We loved it here! The menu was different than any other Greek restaurant we've been to. We'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Stopped in whilst touring the murals of Springfield. Very quaint restaurant with hip dacor, great service and amazing food! We had the "Kraken" gyro with a small salad and spanakopita. Everything was a hit, fresh and excellent. The sandwich was nicely stuffed, the spanakopita light and flaky, and the salad has a nice helping of real feta. Great little neighborhood gem. The employees really up the overall experience.

Yelp
I travel a lot for work. I also have recently become gluten intolerant. A couple months ago I was staying at a hotel nearby. To my surprise! They have a lot of gluten free items on the menu including PITA! So, when I found out that I needed to come back to Springfield I was so excited that o would be able to grab lunch here! Katie was so helpful in explaining menu options. Thank you!!! I will always look forward to coming back to Springfield just to eat here!

Jessica L.

Yelp
I dined here 11/23, later in the evening. The server and bartender were great. I had the Souvlaki Trio, you can mix and match pork, chicken, and veggie skewers. I got one of each. The boyfriend had a gyro and fries and was very happy with it. I have celiac disease and not only were the gluten free items marked on the menu, the server was knowledgeable about it too. I substituted the lemon potato wedges for the fries and they were fantastic dipped in both the tzaziki and the toum. I got the Greek slaw as my second side, also amazing. The pork Souvlaki was my favorite. They do have gluten free pita, but I skipped it. Food came out quickly, except the veggie skewer, the server said she wasn't happy with how the first one was cooked and another one would be out shortly. I really appreciated her attention to quality control and the veggies came quickly. Food presentation was very nice, everything was just on point.

Alex T.

Yelp
My favorite restaraunt of all time. Best feta cheese I have ever had. Love all of the dishes here. Definitely a regular customer

Amanda L.

Yelp
Delicious! Ordered a build your own with lamb, cucumber and feta banana pepper sauce and a grill plate with skewer Lamb and tzatziki sauce. I love a good gyro and this place was the way to go. Baklava for dessert was delicious. Place is small but lively. Staff were great, we had Julia as our server and she was attentive and friendly. Highly recommend for lunch or meet up for drinks and Apps. -no shaved lamb -service was a tad slow, but we came right at the end of the lunch rush. -street parking.

Yelp
Always a 10/10 best greek food in Springfield mo!! Parking is always the worst but they are always so quick and friendly! The restaurant always makes me feel like I'm in a big city cafe which is my favorite feeling :) I always recommend this spot to anyone who needs a new restaurant to try!
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious gyros and spanakopita! And such a reasonable price. Service was quick and servers were friendly.

Yelp
First time customer. Ordered for delivery. We enjoyed everything, and will include Greek Belly in our take away considerations going forward.

Yelp
I had a great time here with family and friends. Great look and feel! Their fries were the highlight of the meal! Everything else is great, but those fries..!
