Very unique, quiet place. The wine was great. We had the whole farm for ourselves after 6 pm. Tim & Betsy were great.

Google
What a enjoyable time we had at Green Bird! I place high value on organic foods and sustainable farming so when I saw this winery on the map on the way to the lighthouse in Northport, I knew we had to stop. There were 4 adults and 2 kids in our group and we all had something we enjoyed. The kids we able to feed the chickens and sheep and play on the tractor while the adults had a delightful cheese board and a drink. The cider and sangria were excellent! They also offered kid friendly snacks, and moms know this means a lot! The grounds were so beautiful and quiet. We left with a few bag fulls of goodies too. Tim, the owner, was so personable and treated us like old friends. We are so glad we stopped!

Google
This place was unbelievably phenomenal. Beautiful, peaceful grounds. It's everything you want in a vineyard/farm. The property if fully organic which in turn provides amazing wines. All wines are very smooth and easy to drink and the flavors are above par. Tim & Betsy's hard work and love for their land shows in anything you purchase from their tasting room. We didn't want to leave! However that just means we will be back.

Google
Great winery. Betsy was wonderful. Top quality wines. We visit TC once/year. This was our 1st visit to Green Bird. We'll be back, EVERY year forever more! Do not miss this place!! (and thanks to you, our backyard patio is now complete!) Martin n Melissa

Google
Great owners! Lovely tasting room and property! Cider and wine are very refreshing.

Google
The Traminette Vignoles is probably the best white wine I’ve ever had. It’s incredibly unique and surprising. Having tasted the best of Tuscany and Napa Valley, I can confidently say that this wine is the champion. Pure Michigan, baby! Also, they’re organic…BONUS.

Tiffany Ziegler

Google
Amazing. Absolutely amazing. The bartender is the owner and is on point about flavors and recommendations! Love the atmosphere, bathrooms, wine, cider, and snacks!

Rachel Parker

Google
Cute organic farm and winery. George was a great conversationalist and conservator of the Leelanau area. The ciders were amazing! We tried three and took two bottles to go. We will be back!

Yelp
Amazing experience at Green Bird! What a beautiful piece of property, friendly staff members, fantastic story and delicious wine and cider. Easy to sip and sip some more. If you are out in Leelanau looking for a friendlier, more wholesome, organic, and laid back wine tasting experience this is for you. They don't sell in stores and never will. They aren't trying to cycle through customers to sell sell sell. They don't make you feel like you need to pretend to be fancy. They call a spade a spade and a gewurz a gewurz. You are on a working farm looking at the tractors that mow the land and can take home eggs from the chickens you hear in the background. The small batches that they release are special because there is a good chance that your favorite cherry cider will be gone the next time you're there. It is all about the moment at Green Bird- and what a beautiful, delicious moment it is!

Yelp
This wine and cider organic cellar/farm is off the beaten path, literally down a dirt road, and is worth the trip. It is a full working organic farm. So you can get tomatoes and zucchini with your wine. You can also visit their chickens and sheep. They have a small bar and shop inside their sorbet colored building, oldies playing in the background. A majority of the seating is on their patio along the apple trees. The service was excellent, the gentleman, George, working during our visit was engaging, and particularly kind towards the kids in our group. We appreciated that they were kid friendly (they have non alcoholic drinks and some snacks as well). I did not love many of the wines I tried, there were some ciders I liked more, and my friend really liked the Sangria. But I did love the environment and the overall feel, there's just a good vibe.

Yelp
Wonderful farm/orchard setting with friendly proprietor who brought vibrant New Orleans color palette with him. The drive in is part of the charm/appeal. Delicious Chardonnay etc everything is organic. Roam the fields with sheep and chickens. Dog friendly patio

Patty K.

Yelp
Nice little winery also has ciders. We met the owner as she was feeding the chickens and sheep. Explained organic farming. We also bought farm fresh eggs and the cookies with cider while sitting outside made our day.

Yelp
This organic winery (the only one in Michigan, apparently) is well off the beaten path but totally worth checking out! You have to drive down a winding dirt road but the views, wine, and hospitality are second to none. My friends and I stopped in to Green Bird Cellars while camping at Leelanau State Park (it's about 15 minutes away) and were pleasantly surprised at the offerings there. They have not only wine but also a few varieties of cider and beer. I tried the peach and chai ciders and both were really good. The peach was much lighter and less sweet than most others I've had which was really nice. The chai cider was really interesting and pretty tart! They also had blueberry sangria on tap - it was different than any sangria I've had before but it was very good; super bubbly and refreshing. Three of us ended up getting a glass of the sangria while the boys got the pale ale which they all said was really good. The owner was pouring for us and he told us about the produce they use and a little about the winery which was really interesting. He said most wine tours won't stop there because of the dirt road but if you ask they will make it a stop! There is a nice outdoor area with horseshoes and some other yard games and the view of the vineyards is amazing. Definitely worth a visit if you're near this area!

Yelp
We had a wonderful afternoon here! Wine is certified organic & they don't use shellfish or casein in their clarifying process. We will return! Wonderful product & staff.

Jessie Q.

Yelp
The two stars go to the beautiful place, the wines we tasted there are pretty poor, we just had a sip of each one and left. They charge $18 for 3 tasting while most charge $12-13, won't go back.

Yelp
Great wine and atmosphere. Take some time to get to know the folks working and you'll feel like you belong. Kid friendly too!

Yelp
We love Green Bird! Super family friendly with wine, sangria, ginger beer for adults and soda options for the kids! Walk the vineyard, stop and say hello to the sheep and chickens, or enjoy sit and enjoy the view. The owners and staff are amazing friendly! You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Beautiful place, delicious wine, A+ hospitality. Our first date since COVID and well worth it.

Yelp
Jess was awesome! A friend and I had heard such good things about Green Bird so we were very excited to go. We enjoyed a tasting, board, a glass and left with a few bottles after visiting with the animals. Our server even suggested where we go eat which was also great, and where we should watch the sunset. Such a wonderful atmosphere!

Yelp
The only organic winery in Michigan! So if you're concerned about pesticides and sustainable agriculture, this winery is for you. If you aren't concerned, Green Bird is still a top choice because 1.) their stuff is fresh and flavorful, 2.) Ben knows what he's doing, and 3.) they make cider and beer as well as wine. (Yes, you read that correctly. 3 ways to get to your happy place.) Don't forget to order a homemade cheese dip to accompany your sampling--we had Asiago, PERFECT! A little pricey, perhaps, but organic usually is. And do not leave without trying the Blueberry Sangria. That alone justifies a visit. We left with a growler of the stuff, and will soon be singing and dancing.

Yelp
Our first stop on our impromptu winery tour while staying in Leelanau was Greenbird. The only certified organic winery in Michigan, this place was in a really amazing location in Northport. But don't let the organic certification come off as a fad, Greenbird has excellent wine and cider. We ended up walking out with bottle of wine and a four pack of cider. Check this place out!

Yelp
I loved this winery/cidery/brewery. Being organic, for one, already elevates it above most wineries in the area. And that they are doing the organic thing successfully is further impressive. We tried several wines, a couple ciders, and a pale ale they had on tap. The standout was the whiskey barrel aged cider. The pale ale was also real refreshing, a good hoppy taste without going overboard. The atmosphere was cool, new and practical and almost home-like.

Yelp
MEH... I'm not a fan of the tasting service. A group of four came in seconds before my husband and I. That in itself, ruined my experience. I literally had to eavesdrop what the gal said to the group before us to get an idea of what we would try during our tasting experience. To summarize our service: the lady came over to our end of the counter, announced the bottle name, poured and walked back to the larger group. Fine. You're too busy with 6-7 folks to elaborate outside of your website. I can let that go. But when you continued to pour a pinot Gris, Pinot noir, Riesling, gewürztraminer AND a port without a single courtesy clean glass I get a little turned off. No crackers! No nothing! Overall, I found the menu very limited in options and there were no crackers offered to cleanse our palate between the different varietals. Disappointment in product and service Originally my husband and I wanted to pay extra and try out the famous ciders, but no Bueno. Not with how our wine tasting turned out. We did buy a bottle to show some support but the bottle the hubby picked... Was questionable. The cork was rising from the bottle which may suggest two things. Was it not sealed properly or was the wine mishandled-aka is the wine getting sour from oxidation? I put the bottle back and got another that was corked and additionally sealed with plastic. So... That's that.

Yelp
As far as Leelanau Peninsula goes... this wine is just not that good. The place is adorable, but the wine just doesn't hold up to other places. I must just prefer the taste of chemicals in my wine :/

Yelp
Really great little organic vineyard. Not at all corporate (it's run by a young couple) but wonderful wines and a nice little patio to drink them on. They also have chickens and goats which are fun for the kids to look at and you can buy farm fresh eggs. They are also doing fantastic with COVID safety procedures right now. Highly recommended!

Yelp
We made the trek out to Good Neighbor today. We were greeted by sunshine after a cloudy morning, along with the owner's happy greeting. They were between wines, so we tried their ciders and beer. Good Neighbor is currently the only organic outfit on the peninsula. They deserve your patronage and earn an extra star just for their stewardship. They do not charge for tasting either. The peach cider and coffee hazelnut were awesome, and I took home two bottles of each. Both were very smooth. I don't usually go for ciders and was surprised at how drinkable these were. Their brews are labeled as Big O Brewery, and they had a couple beers on tap. I tried the non-cherry one. I can't remember exactly what style it was, but it is a little like an IPA but has a very smooth finish and little aftertaste. It was good enough that I took home a growler. Definitely worth the trip!

Yelp
My favorite winery in the area! Each time I have been here I loved it. Their pinot noir is amazing great flavor and all organic. They make a cider rye that is out of this world and will make you fall off your bar stool. They also make some ciders since they are on an apple orchard. The ciders are very tasty. Other than booz they offer lavender products that are very good and inexpensive. They also make infused oils for dipping bread. We got to pick apples after tasting which was very fun they just give you a bag and let you go free in the orchard to enjoy. The views and landscape around the tasting room are unreal and amazing (we were here in the fall last time) I cannot wait to come back to try more of their creations.

Yelp
This was the most interesting sounding stop on our little Traverse City wine tour, so we made the muddy hike out. After a little rain, the unpaved road was a little questionable but well worth the drive out. The man who runs this place is super friendly. We sampled everything he had for no charge and enjoyed some interesting conversation as well. I ended up coming home with a bottle of the Sunset Peach Cider and the Cherry Cheer. The Cheer is amazing, and he told us it is even better served warm. Can't wait to try it! If you are out and about on the peninsula, definitely stop here. Worth it!

Yelp
We got to Green Bird right when it opened, after peak season had ended, so it was really quiet and peaceful (it sounded like it gets super busy during other times of the day). The person running our tasting was one of the owners, so we got a lot of info about their products and the other wineries in the area. We loved the Cin (a cider aged in a gin barrel) and one of the rieslings. I was also surprised to find that their sangria was delightful - normally I'm not a fan of the pre-bottled kind (because yes, I actually make my own with seasonal fruit). Keep an eye on Green Bird - they're trying out some great combos and I'm sure they'll continue to come up with new ideas.

Yelp
First time in the area so we found this place on Yelp. It's very unique. The hard ciders were great. The server was knowledgeable & fun to talk to. We would definitely go there again.

Yelp
I don't even drink wine but find this a remarkable stop on the M-22 Circle Tour! Organics are the way to go, and knowing what it takes to get to this level of certification, you have to admire the business - and stop in for THAT reason alone! Stan the property owner is super kind.... the farm is up the hill a bit and a short gravel drive towards the tasting room. It's a lovely spot. ALSO, there is now a great bagelry there too. A bagel maker bakes out of one of Stan's side rooms and they are available for sale. THAT is a great asset to the community. Located between Northport and Leland.

Yelp
Such a cute place with great service and some great wine! IPA on draft and the sparkling mimosa were a pleasant surprise too! Will definitely be back!!

Yelp
Green Bird is mine and my husbands favorite stop in the area. The farm itself is gorgeous. The staff and owners are so friendly and accomidating and the ciders are amazing. The Peach is to die for! They had a watermelon cider last year that was the best cider I have ever had. I love sitting outside there, the atmosphere is so calm and relaxing unlike alot of the more crowded wineries in the area. We always make a point to come here when we are in the area.

Yelp
Great location. Friendly service. Great beer and ciders. Love the outdoor area in the summer. Cozy fireplace inside. Beautiful layout!

Yelp
Absolutely adorable winery/cider mill. Loved the unique options! Coffee cider and Chai cider are worth a try! Cherry cider is excellent. They were very friendly and have created a great atmosphere for visitors. Absolutely worth the visit. Probably one of the most charming places in Leelanau!

Bill F.

Yelp
What a great off the road winery. Just off legendary M22, this place is what "being up North" is all about. Wines and ciders are great and the venue is wonderful. Check it out!
google avatar

Karen S.

Yelp
The real winners here are the ciders. We tried Cider Rye, coffee cider, and Hop cider. We bought all three along with a delicious Riesling. The brewer Ben is awesome and knowledgeable. I'm looking forward to trying the peach, pear, cherry, and chai ciders even though I'll have to have them shipped to me. It is definitely worth it to go out of your way to come here!

Andrew H.

Yelp
Very good wine and cider. Well worth the drive up which is only a few minutes more north then the other wineries. Off the beaten path but that's what makes it great! Staff was very friendly and informative. Oh, and the wine and cider is very tasty! Don't be afraid of the dirt road :)

Yelp
Wanted to check out and support the only organic winery in the region. (What's up with that....100 wineries and only 1 is organic??) It was a warm, dry day so no problems on the gravel road. We were the only ones there and Stan the owner took care of us. Took a bottle of Noiret, a new grape to me, and for the husband, a jug of Cream Ale which was delicious. It was worth the drive just to be on a working farm. I was delighted to see lavender fields and the lavender is distilled here, too. On the way out, Stan let me take some of the leftover lavender from last harvest. Made my day.

Yelp
Friendly service, yeasty ciders. With a little more experience these guys should be able to create something quite tasty.

Julie L.

Yelp
This winery was our favorite on our Leelanau County wine tour by a landslide! The tasting room was adorable - play area for the kids plus a lovely patio with outdoor games to play while we enjoyed our samples and the white fish dip. Really liked the wines but LOVED the ciders - purchased a growler of their cherry cider as well as a few bottles of the wine. Also have the most delicious homemade sea salt chocolate chips cookies that we enjoyed on our ride home.

Yelp
Don't know where to start! Ben Crow and Good Neighbor is a breathe of fresh air for the MI industry and exactly what we needed on this beautiful Wednesday afternoon....we came home with the unique coffee cider, Pinot Noir, Riesling, Ciderye and orders for the highly anticipated White Concord and Noiret!! Thank you Good Neighbor for the great time and even better beverages!

Yelp
Stopped into this Organic Winery to taste the wines and ended up falling in love with the cherry cider and cider rye. Brought several bottles of the rye home and a growler of the cider, which I now wish I would have brought more home. The owner, Ben, treated us like family and is very informative and passionate about his craft. I really recommend stopping at this place if you are in the Leelanau pennisula.

Joe M.

Yelp
It was truly a treat to come across this gem. One of the most beautiful walks on the Peninsula is on this farm. Incredibly friendly and knowledgeable staff, tasty drinks, and the best chocolate chip cookie you will ever eat. 6 stars.

Nicole U.

Yelp
I visited in the summer for the first time, and I enjoyed the variety of choices they had to taste. There was beer, wine, cider, and liquor all available to try, I particularly liked the peach cider. The staff was very kind.

Yelp
I hate to not be supportive but have to be honest. I decided after many winery trips up in Traverse to head further north this time and work my way south. The concept of this place is really cool and I was excited to stop in. But, I was disappointed. Not only by the cider and drinks which often seemed watered down and lacked much depth of flavor, but also by the experience. The guy working there was trying to joke around, but it didn't make me feel very welcome. He had a really dry sense of humor and that's cool, but took it too far a couple times when it came off as a bit rude. We decided to buy a bottle of Gewürztraminer even though we didn't really love anything we tried. And after he ran my card he literally threw it at me and it landed on the floor. Again, it was his version of being funny and playful, but it was rude to throw somebody's card at them even in jest. Honestly after a couple minutes in there we were just uncomfortable and trying to be polite and get out of there ASAP.
