Green door is located in lovely La Jolla ca. It's a place where everyone can come to enjoy organic and local foods. Everything is sugar, gluten, and dairy-free. They have a bar; they offer an array of different options including vegan French toast, vegan Mac n cheese, and vegan tacos. They no longer serve Ratatouille. They also serve desserts. Nonetheless,
I fancied a burger and stumbled upon this whimsical place. They had a sign that had words that captured my attention words including organic, vegan, and gluten free. The menu had some great options to choose from. I consider myself plantbased and mosied on inside. You walk through this very quaint courtyard with tables and plants in every direction. They use the herbs grown on their wall garden in their kitchen. I reached the front with friendly greetings.
I had an inkling of what I wanted to try after viewing the menu out front but I asked what the top three meals were anyway. One of the three options included The Bombay bomb vegan curry burger and that is what I ordered. The way it works is you order, pay, and then find seating. I originally sat inside but after the restroom and before my food arrived I decided it was such a beautiful day that sitting outside in the courtyard was a good decision. I needed a plot twist anyway.
The Bombay bomb vegan curry burger has about 30 ingredients that make up this burger; it's served on a whole wheat bun with spicy red paprika potatoes, kale chips and seasonal salad. It is gluten-free meal. They really pay attention to detail as did I with all the flavors and presentation. The green door utilizes innovative low heat, which is quite impressive especially since high heat usually kills all the vitamins and nutrients.
There is a small buffet option but otherwise everything is made fresh to order. It took a moment (low heat techniques) but I was in no rush it was awesome being in this beautiful space. It is a bit dated but it doesn't take away from the exquisiteness. When my dish arrived it was love at first sight--Yes, I'm still talking about food. Savory potato bun pancake bun, kale chips, paprika potatoes, and seasonal salad as advertised in menu. Everything was coming together nicely; I had a glass of water, my food, and my silverware in front of me.
I had a kale chip first and then had some of the paprika potatoes, wow! I took a bite out of the Bombay curry burger and let me tell you that that was one amazing bite! I took another and then another. From the nuts to the herbs to the spices, I could detect so much flavor! Then I vegan or began rather, to think about the 30 ingredients it took to make this burger. I can tell love was the main ingredient, that would make it 31! The seasonal salad was also incredible--a splendid adventure! I had no room for dessert but I was happily Plant fueled.
So veggie good!!
