I came into La Jolla & just happened to get a parking spot in front of this vegetarian restaurant that I had never seen before. I was only planning to be in La Jolla for a brief minute, but Fate was tempting me with this place, and she won... and I'm so glad that she did!!!! I got the Greek frittata, Spanish omelette, the mango lime & pineapple "sunshine" chia pudding and a fresh juice called "the detox" (contains apple, beet, carrots, dandelion greens, ginger, and turmeric).
First thing I ate was the Greek frittata, and holy Moses was it AMAZING! I don't even remember chewing because I inhaled it so quickly.
Then I had a sip of "the detox" juice... of which I had asked the server to go easy on the dandelion greens. She did as I requested, and the result was more yummy goodness. I had to exercise restraint in order to not drink that juice down right away.
Then I had a spoonful of the mango lime & pineapple "sunshine" chia pudding... here's where I had a little bit of a pause. When I initially read the words "mango & pineapple pudding," I expected the pudding to be sweet. However, it is not. The lime & nutmeg make it more tangy and tart than sweet. It's good, just not what I expected, so it threw me off for a moment. The chef, Martin, was in the kitchen when I ate the pudding, so I was able to speak with him about it. He said he'll consider not blending the pudding so well, so that (in the future) people will be able to taste little pieces of the pineapple & mango in there, rather than having it all blended up so smoothly that the lime stands out the most. Either way, it's good & you'll enjoy it as long as you go in without the expectation of it being sweet.
I took the Spanish omelette to go since I hadn't allotted any time in my day for a sit-down lunch & I had already spent considerable time speaking with the wonderfully friendly staff... but considering that the server told me that the Spanish omelette is her favorite and I don't really know how anything could top the Greek frittata, I have no doubt that the Spanish omelette will be another delight for my palate.
