The 20 Best Sports Bars In Philly

"Green Room is one of Fairmount’s most popular bars, and you’ll see why the second you walk in. The space mixes neighbors who have been playing pool here for decades, unhinged sports fans, and tourists who walked a few blocks from the museums and are now Eagles devotees. The menu is full of straightforward dishes like burgers and buffalo chicken fingers (and they’re all average to decent). But that’s not why you come here. You come here to drink $5 beers, $7 margaritas, and drunkenly teach some stranger from San Francisco the E-A-G-L-E-S chant. " - candis mclean

16 Philly Restaurants and Bars for Sports Watching Outdoors - Eater Philly

"Televisions line the window boxes at the Green Room on Green Street in Fairmount, allowing for outdoor diners and drinkers to tune into the game from their tables. Google
It’s very nice community bar nice place to enjoy, food is good they have 1 snooker table good music. Positive words: Eating food on printed papers are harmful because of carbon ink which is under near the food and food is inked. Rested all very nice.

Jen Garone

Google
Fried food paradise. Went because somewhere I read that the have the best chicken fingers. No. They were actually the worst thing ordered. Overdone. Mozz sticks are excellent and plentiful for $12. A ton of fries for just $5. What a bargain. Music gets a little loud. Great staff. Cash only. Pay as you go.

Peter Docteroff

Google
I ordered the green room chicken sandwich and it was really good. Quality taste, plenty of meat/cheese, and a fair price. Fries were tasty too. I just got the citywide special - tecate and a tequila shot - for only $6. Outside of that prices still looked cheap for drinks. There wasn't a waiter that frequented our table outside of serving food, but you could get the bartender if needed.

Brian Smith

Google
Came on a Thursday night - sat at the bar and had a great time. Shoutout to our bartenders Jonathan and Eric for great conversation & service.

Nicole Hinterberger

Google
Had a great time here recently for Quizzo! Drink prices are insanely cheap / reasonable. No table service — you have to go to the bar for your drinks including water. No big deal especially given the low cost drinks. Good bar food like chicken fingers and fries. Fun time! Would definitely come back - especially for Tuesday night Quizzo. FYI- Cash only!!

Chris Gallagher

Google
Good bar walkable from art museum/city hall area. Went after Philly marathon and they had every football game on the tvs. Cash only bar with an atm. Good beer selection with non alcoholic options too. Good food

Bailey Osborne

Google
Cash only bar. Have you guys seen the green room movie? Yeah this has a similar energy to the establishment, but with nicer people and without death. Would recommend.

Google
The Green Room is one of those rare spots in Philly that feels like you’re in on a secret. It’s effortlessly cool without trying too hard—dim lighting, intimate booths, and a laid-back vibe that instantly makes you want to stay awhile. Beyond cozy atmosphere, what really makes this place stand out is the games. Think retro arcade classics, pool, and even a little darts—just enough fun to keep the night interesting without turning it into a full-blown barcade. It’s the perfect mix of chill and playful.

Yelp
Green Room is great for a classic dive bar. Their nachos and chicken fingers were delicious. The ambiance is not the nicest, but you know what you are expecting when you walk in there. Everything is reasonably priced - even the drinks!

Yelp
Great job with the guy that works the door.I believe he said his name was drico. He's very professional with checking id's and making sure the guest feel safe. I've even seen him helping people behind the bar which was great to see someone who loves what they are doing. With him there I will return to the establishment

Yelp
Green Room is the kind of neighborhood bar that makes me wish I lived in Fairmount. The food has no business being that good, the drinks are cheap, and there are endless options. I've been to Green Room a handful of times now, ranging from before, during, and in the whatever we are calling these not quite "post" covid times. What I love about Green Room is that the most casual Saturday afternoon or Friday night can turn into the most unexpectedly fun time. I feel like every time I visit it's for a casual night with friends, but it never ends that way. This past Friday, friends and I wanted to have a very low key early Friday evening and then a few rounds of Green Tea Shots later... well you get the idea. We got to Green Room around 8 PM and it was packed because it was the nicest Friday weather-wise in a long time and that means people want to drink outside. We grabbed a table inside and ordered drinks from the bar. I'm always hesitant to get an elaborate cocktail at a neighborhood bar, but I am obsessed with the Watermelon Margarita. Yes, I did make it a double. My friends got draft beer and ciders - they have the Downeast Blackberry and they also have Guinness. There is truly something for everyone here. After about an hour we decided some food would be required. We got the Chicken Tenders and the Chesapeake Fries. The tenders are unreasonably good, such a generous portion, so many sauces. YUM! When we were deciding what to get, we thought about the Chesapeake fries and thought it might not be the right place to order something with crab... how wrong of us to judge. The fries were perfection and no one got sick. It is always a great time at Green Room! They have touchtunes, a pool table, and an ATM because it is cash only. The bathrooms are downstairs and are usually clean enough. Plenty of seating both inside and outside.

Yelp
Check out Green Room's food! I usually go there for drinks, but once my friends and I all ordered food there and it was realllllly good. I had the Sirloin Burger and it was a solid burger! The patty was thick and juicy, cooked exactly medium rare! It's what I expect when I order a burger. The tater tots were freshly fried too! With the foods, they served a lot of condiments as well! Next time you go to the green room, order their food! You won't be disappointed and it'll make your night more fun.

Yelp
Brooke and Eric are the most amazing bartenders in the city. I highly recommend this bar!!!

Yelp
This was a cool place to catch the Sixers playoffs. We had originally tried to check out an official watch party at Urban Saloon, but it was way too crowded and in all likelihood we weren't going to get a seat or food there. So we ventured here and arrived at tip-off. I liked that they had TVs facing the outside seating so those outside didn't miss anything. It's been a while since I partook of a game with other fans, but it was a nice, chill environment and I cold tell this was a bar with regulars. They don't take cash, but do have an ATM inside. The surcharge was about $3, so just a heads up to be ready to take out money. The drinks were inexpensive and the cost of food was reasonable. About all I'm willing to pay for typical bar food. Although I will say the food is a cut above standard bar food, so there's that. I would return, though it's doubtful I'll be in this area too much.
google avatar

Yelp
Good food, crowd, and drinks. Cash only, but they do have ATMs available. Really nice bartenders as well.

Yelp
I was utilizing free time at the Green Room, while Brooke and Cassidy were bartending. Both Brooke and Cassidy displayed professionalism beyond what I would expect as a patron. Brooke was friendly and drinks felt appropriate, having experience in the restaurant and business industries. I can't recommend the green room or Brooke or Cassidy more!!

Yelp
Great neighborhood bar! Heads up - it's cash only. They have the best variety of craft beers on draft for the neighborhood. And if you don't want one them, they have a variety of house cocktails with solid liquor (Tito's, espolon, etc). And Jell-O shots (didn't try but appreciate that it's on the menu). The bartender was absolutely pleasant and on top of every single person (and their order) at the bar. I only tried the mozzarella sticks but definitely a great choice. Huge order instead of your usual 5 stick order where you awkwardly figure out who's getting the last stick. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu. If you're in the area, highly recommend! I will definitely be back soon!

Kyle L.

Yelp
Great place to watch a football game and slam some twisted tea lights! Solid food and beer, and there's something romantic about a cash only spot.

Jacklyn Z.

Yelp
Such a hidden gem in Philly! The food is consistently a 10/10, a good price for the city, the bartenders are great and the vibes are always good. Easily one of my favorite places!!

Yelp
This place is the most overlooked place in Philadelphia for a good meal. I had the munchies and ordered some chips and salsa and guacamole and was so impressed that i asked if they were made in house and they are. I've seen their wings and they look good too. The servers are real friendly and attentive. They also have a pool table if that's your thing. They also have plenty of tv's for games and ample outdoor seating.

Yelp
The Green Room is a weekly (3+ times a week) favorite featuring excellent food, reasonably priced drinks, a fun-loving crowd, pool and darts, and an amazing staff that feels like family. Whether you're greeted by Brooke, Jaci, Steph, or Eric, you'll feel right at home. We LOVE the Fish tacos, chicken tenders, guac & chips, Chesapeake Bay fries, and endless beers on draft. Green Room is a local favorite and a must visit bar to check off your Fairmount bucket list!

Rachel C.

Yelp
I love this place....but for the love of all that is holy...please stop filling the mid -higher end bottles with well liquor. We notice it.

Yelp
Really cool local bar to hang out. It was an Awesome time had by all with great food and friendly employees

Yelp
3.5 Stars. We kind of love the Green Room. I'm not sure if it's because of all of the really fun, fond memories we have of this place from when hubs and I just started dating or because it's a no fail, no brainer, easy place to grab a cold one..... Probably both. Anyone who has lived in Fairmount has come here at some point. It's the no frills neighborhood corner bar everyone loves. It has two pools table, a dart board, an awesome juke box and some fairly simple brews on tap. Nothing too fancy, maybe one or two IPA's. Love the Ithaca Flower Power though! We usually stick with old Philly classics here. The pool tables used to take quarters only, which the bartender would switch out for you if you have singles. It's now free a couple nights a week, including weekends which is cool! But bring dollar dollar bills if you want to play music! Unless you're on the Erin Express, no one ever really sets out to spend a night here. It's usually a pre-game or post night out type of place and for that, I think it's really great. A convenient meeting point for a night out elsewhere. Free street parking...if you can find a spot. Most locals just walk here. We recently stopped here for the first time in YEEEEEEARS on a tour I designed for my husband of our old hangs for a recent date-night. Nothing has changed...and we actually appreciated that. You get the same thing every time. That's not a bad thing at all in this case. Even the door man remains the same, and he's fantastic and uber friendly! For as many times as we've been here over the years we have actually never tried the food. (Like I said, it's really a place we hit up AFTER a meal elsewhere), but they do offer typical bar fare and wing and pitcher specials during games. I personally wouldn't come here for game watching however, not enough seats. The food does look good though! We'll be back again for another couple of games of pool, some lagers and good tunes. We actually may try quizzos on Tuesday nights or a round of Bingo on Thursdays when the weather lets up and weekday nights aren't so dark and cold. Seats outside with maybe some nosh and cold ones for an earlier evening seem like a good idea too. Good ole Green Room!
google avatar

Christine S.

Yelp
Green Room is a typical sports bar with beers, TVs, and a pool table. Not a bad place to grab a quick drink or to watch a game! Pro tip: cash only, so bring your dollar bills!
google avatar

Stephanie S.

Yelp
I'm updating this review to 5 stars because I've since been back to the green room so many times the past 2 yrs that my previous rating is outdated. My prior comments about the amazing food, people, and atmosphere are still true. I'm just updating this now since I love this bar and keep coming back. It's become almost a second home :) oh and Bingo now on Thursday's! Yes!

Yelp
Great food and great beer! Always have a wonderful time with friends here. Recommend the chicken tenders with Green Room Sauce!

Yelp
I would like to start off by saying I manage a multi million dollar restaurant in New York City, so I know exactly how it feels to be in the food service industry. I was completely underwhelmed and disappointed by the service I was provided during my time at this establishment. The server we had (not sure of her name because she never gave it to us) was very disrespectful and we will not be returning due to her nasty attitude. She was a short girl with blonde hair. We purchased our first round of drinks and everything was fine until we tried to order another round. Our waiter told us that we couldn't ask her for anything because everything had to be done electronically due to covid, which I totally understand as I have some of the same rules in place at my restaurant. I know as an establishment you guys are better than that, but our server poorly represented your company and it's values. Overall, I was highly disappointed with my visit as an individual, and as a professional in this field. I highly recommend you screen your employees better than you do now, because our server clearly didn't have a passion for what she does. Thanks for listening and I hope this can help your establishment improve in the future.

Yelp
Chill spot. Good prices. Good managers. Cash only but ATM in the bar. A good place to play a game of pool inside or take a seat outside in the sun. Great location for game day too. Specials often. Quizzo weekly.

Jason T.

Yelp
I don't think I can say enough good things about this place. It was my first visit on Saturday for the Flyers game. I was a little skeptical at first but upon arrival I saw ample seating (distanced) and not one, not two, but THREE TVs out front. Started off on a good note. So we order at the window and let me tell you that the beer selection was like we were right back in February like nothing had changed. However, on the board I notice written in high lighter "Espolon Watermelon Magaritas", $10 for a double. So now I'm really impressed. We were pretty hungry at this point. So my friend and I decided we are going to order food as well. We see mozzarella sticks. She says "wow $9 for mozz sticks wtf?". She orders them anyway. We get back to the table and I shit you not there are 14 mozz sticks in the to-go container. I've never seen anything like it. They tasted delicious. The service was impeccable and super friendly. It was such a great night. The vibe was just right, I felt home. When restaurants open up for inside dining, this will be my first stop.

Yelp
Green Room is a great place to go if you're looking for a casual place for a night out. I found this place just randomly walking around Fairmount area and from the outside it doesn't seem like the best place but when you walk in, it's a great atmosphere with locals just enjoying their drinks. This place has a great variety of drinks for the small space, but I also love the free pool tables and the darts in the basement. To carb up - I typically grab the gators tots as well before I head home. Only $6 for a huge basket that are fried and crispy to a T and yummy cheese sauce. Be sure to stop on by!
google avatar

Christina S.

Yelp
This review is for drinks, service and atmosphere. This was our last stop on a night of cocktails, Burlesque and Broadway. When we arrived we got a warm greeting from the staff. Good start. Definitely a neighborhood hang out bar with a pool table and a friendly vibe. I ordered a Manhattan and honestly only took one sip. Not because it was bad, because it wasn't. I just couldn't put any more alcohol into my body... I would love to return an hang with the locals or meet up with friends, it's that kind of place.
google avatar

Jake M.

Yelp
Love Green Room. It's a typical locals bar with some pool tables on the main floor and darts in the basement. The bartender and crowd typically are friendly and open to playing games and meeting new people. It's just a random side bar so definitely people from the neighborhood come here on a regular basis. Bar has a small variety but covers all my needs. Beers in bottle and draft. Pitchers available.
google avatar

Keval R.

Yelp
Came here last Saturday for the Erin Express. Super packed, overall just a local dive bar. They had plenty of specials during EE, and they didn't charge a cover which is nice! No line to wait in, definitely worth a stop on the EE. Pro tip - the EE bus comes here, so get on and go to the next destination (likely in center city).
google avatar

Erica F.

Yelp
If you're looking for a good dive bar check out this place. The owner is amazing and very accommodating. The bartenders assist in a timely fashion. Prices are pretty regular/definitely affordable. It is cash only but there is an ATM inside. It's located in a convenient more on the quieter side of an area, so most of the attendees are locals. The crowd is mixed but there's always good energy and I've always found everyone to be very friendly. They have two pool tables, several TVs, and a juke box. The atmosphere is that of a generic dive bar, but definitely a great place to watch the game. They don't serve food however, but there's plenty of restaurants in the area.
google avatar

Michelle P.

Yelp
In a neighborhood filled with gastropubs, the Green Room is a local dive bar. Is it the diviest in Philly? No way, but it might be Fairmount's diviest. The Green Room is always my plan B. Reasons I've gone there include: -The other bars are too crowded -They are the only bar still honoring the special -It's raining and I need to get inside a bar -Let's meet there first and move along With that being said, it is fairly inexpensive and pretty laid back. The draft selection is fair. The other day I was able to get an Ithaca Flower Power. There are pool tables if that's your thing. Don't expect them to take credit cards. Don't expect anything fancy. Don't expect anything dirty. Don't go as a destination. Do enjoy yourself. It's not a bad place.

Denise P.

Yelp
2 female Philadelphia natives decided to go out for dinner and drinks. Walked in to the establishment to multiple men playing pool and a room filled with only male patrons. Waitress was female. Not greeted by any employee, so we found a table and sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. Waitress walked by our table multiple times and failed to acknowledge our presence. Not impressed by any means. We left and went to Mccrossens and had a lovely dinner and fabulous drinks.

Yelp
Decent small little sports bar in Fairmount! Came here with a friend because we wanted to drink locally and play some darts/pool. Their dart room is a bit small/tight, as it's next to the kitchen in this little nook of the bar, and both dartboards are right next to each other. It's fine, but can be tight if you try to put more than 4-5 people in the area. The pool area is fairly nice and large, and separate from the bar/seating, which is good. There are plenty of TVs, a jukebox to play your own music, and most of the people that visit seem like locals. There was only one bartender working when we were there and she was pleasant and attentive. We missed happy hour, but they had a couple of other beers on special, and we got the tater tots which were solid - can't beat some tots, beer, pool and darts. Overall a solid option for the 'hood and I'll definitely be back whenever I'm in the area.
google avatar

Stone Z.

Yelp
The beer is really cheap! They have a special with Philadelphia Sports League where we get a discounted beer. They had a pool table and different sports on tv's. All in all I'd come here again just for drinks. I did buy some buffalo wings to go. I really didn't like the sauce. It was probably the worst sauce I have ever tasted. The wings themselves were not bad but the sauce is not for me.
google avatar

Herbie H.

Yelp
Came for quizzo, and got a table early so we could eat some dinner. We split the Chesapeake Bay Fries, which are great and awful all at once. The real crab meat is a surprise for a dive bar, but the fries were delicious and messy and everything you want. My boyfriend and I shared a burger and the meatball parm sandwich. I think the burger was better than the meatball parm sandwich, maybe only because the meatball parm sandwich was messy and kind of cumbersome to eat. Overall, the food was a bit better than I anticipated, and we had a blast. One note - it would be great if they gave you utensils to use. I know most of the menu is hand-held food/finger food, but because a lot of the food is on the messy side, some utensils (that came with the food) would be great. (They had utensils up a the bar.)
google avatar

Gwendolyn P.

Yelp
Good service, happy hour specials and free pool tables make this a very fun spot to frequent in Fairmount.
google avatar

Carolyn A.

Yelp
The bartender was not very friendly and it's a cash only bar which makes things a little difficult. Not a bad place for a cocktail before moving on.
google avatar

Dan H.

Yelp
THIS REVIEW IS FOR FAIRMOUNT FOOD CRAWL ONLY SPOT 13 Food - Pork tacos / Beverage - John Daly Unfortunately, I was getting bored. Or at least my taste buds were. The food could have been delicious, but the Mrs. and I skipped deciding to stick with the beverage only. The bar itself looks like a locals only/friendly dive bar but with some energy. The drink (variant of the Arnold Palmer) was very good. Delicious and refreshing, I wish I had a giant cup of it as we continued out expedition.
google avatar

A J.

Yelp
Whoever works that grill has some next level munchies. Food is massive proportions- and this is not a compliant. 2 person dinner and drink- $21. Will return!
google avatar

Kristi A.

Yelp
Pretty much your standard nice-lookin' dive. The drinks aren't the cheapest I've found, but not too steep. There are two pool tables, but good luck getting a turn on them. Even when I've come here and there are 4 people in the bar, the pool tables are always monopolized. What is really weird and interesting about the Green Room is the music that gets played on the jukebox. Every time I've been here (about 5 times) there has been awesome hip hop and dance music playing. I love it! But it is totally not what would be expected from the crowd. The bartender from Texas is a true belle. Very sweet and helpful, and quite pretty! They don't take cards, which is a huge pain. But there is a MAC machine there in case you need to tap your funds. Quizzo is Tuesday nights at 9pm. The questions are tough but the host is lively and has a great witty sense of humor. All in all, I like this place. I'm glad it is in my neighborhood as a fallback joint after being in center city, or when I want to go out without having to impress anyone.

Matt R.

Yelp
One of few good dive bars in the area.Bartender is good but Gaci I believe her name or Jaci female bartender is the best bartender employed there.Food id good.Just they need to step it up with the food.Gaci or Jaci is the best.
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
Free Pool. Full Bar. Cash Only. Located in Fairmount. Drinks were legit - we ordered cosmos on the rocks and they were made perfectly. The bartender even remembered our drinks. Good place to pop into, no frills but a nice neighborhood bar.
google avatar

Brandon M.

Yelp
Great bar. Wish they'd change the name to "the green womb." Aside from that, it's a great place. Watch out for Brian :/
google avatar

Harshal P.

Yelp
A very well priced neighborhood bar in Fairmount. This is the kind of place to visit with friends for a chill night of conversation and relaxation. We had a group of 10 and found plenty of seating together in the rear of the bar. The drinks were likely better priced than any other bar in the area. I didn't order food myself but noticed the portions were quite large for a few others in our group. If other bars in the area are too packed, come to Green Room.
google avatar

Meg C.

Yelp
This place is the worst. Shitty beer selection, standoffish patrons, indifferent bartenders. Granted, as a rule I hate dive bars. They're just not my thing. Basically my choices 1) I can go to Belgian Cafe and drink with pretentious assholes, or 2) I can go to the Green Room and drink with stupid assholes or 3) I can leave the neighborhood and find a place that deserves my money. The only redeeming quality of this place is naked photo hunt, but it ain't worth the skunk beer.
google avatar

Brett J.

Yelp
One of my favorite bars in Fairmount. Very unassuming. They almost always have free pool on their 2 pool tables. Most of the patrons are from the neighborhood. They just recently expanded another room and added some larger tvs. Great place to watch NFL games on Sundays. They also serve some of my favorite wings in the city. Only negative is cash only but they have multiple ATMs. Best time to come is during football games.

Chris H.

Yelp
So this was my first trip to this typical neighborhood bar. I wasn't sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised and can't wait to go back. It is cash only which I respect and the beer list was good with a nice mix of craft beers and staples. On a Sunday afternoon the place what pretty full. I consider myself a foodie and was wowed by the crab fries with real lump crab meat and a proportionate amount of cheese. These are the best I have tasted in the city. Very impressed. I also had a burger with Swiss. The burger was cooked as ordered, served with more than the normal gratuitous two pickle chips and some fresh sliced onion. It also contained a side of fries but after having the crab fries as an app, they were a non-factor. The decent sized burger was seasoned well and tasty. Prices were very reasonable and the place overall has a good vibe. I will be back soon
google avatar

Andrea J.

Yelp
Green Room is cash only. It's an entertaining spot. They have pool tables and dart boards and is a very open area to stand and hang out. There was a ton of spots all along the walls to place your pitcher and drinks. The locals there were very welcoming and social.

C. S.

Yelp
Best dive bar in the area. A bunch of TVs to watch games and a cool, relaxed atmosphere. Can't beat it. Just remember that it's cash only!
google avatar

Ted C.

Yelp
Very chill place. Not your typically trendy crowd but if your down for some billiards and cheap drinks then it's a great place to kick back and unwind. People are really friendly and met some cool people here. Free billiards on Sunday's with a pitcher of Yuengling.
google avatar

Jeff H.

Yelp
I liked this place when I was there a year ago. Went back there this 4th of July to get out of the rain for awhile before the fireworks, wish I'd gone somewhere else. I was with two friends who were both over 21 and one of them brought their girlfriend who's 20. We got a pitcher of beer and were chilling out and then she went to the bar to get a soda (in hindsight.. bad idea, one of us should have gone) and the bartender asked for ID and then told us we had to leave because she was under 21. That's fine, there are laws and both the bartender and the bar could get in trouble... that I can understand, but she didn't card any of us when we ordered the beer and that folks is what burns my toast. Decent location, okay bar... but totally unsympathetic and unfriendly bartender.. don't plan on returning.
google avatar

Jose A.

Yelp
This is a great dive bar/home town feel bar, its on the smaller side, but a pretty cool place, they always have a nice selection of beer and have a couple pool tables for you to get your game on... on-on
