"This cozy, bright café is a quintessential South End spot, with tasty chocolate chip cookies and pastries that are all made in-house. Grab a friend or a book and sip your coffee on the patio or at a table inside. In a rush? There’s a window outside for all things on the go." - Matt Yan, Eater Staff

Yelp
Been here so many times now! Ive tried their muffins, croissants, morning bun, and oats but my favourite are their scones! They change their flavours every few months and every one I have tried has been so good!! Their iced coffees and cappuccino are also Not many seats but it's a quick turnaround so I've always got one when I wanted one. Great to come here when the weather is nice and walk around Back Bay too!

Sandra S.

Yelp
Cool that they have a walk up order window. Basic vibes. I ordered a iced strawberry matcha. I wanted it hot but they only had iced. It tasted mostly like milk and strawberry. Wish it had a stronger matcha flavor. Their Blt was pretty good especially bc of the balsamic which added a nice acidic sweetness.

Christopher B.

Yelp
Nice ambiance to just hang out or to be with friends. It's on the corner with lots of windows so it's bright and a good spot to people watch. The ice latte was definitely very good as was the seasonal scone.

Yelp
Stopped in here after seeing this cafe on social media and wanted to give it a try. I came around 1:30 on a Friday afternoon and it was full but not too crowded. I ordered ahead online and everything was ready when I got there which was super nice! A coffee and sandwhich was 18$ which I think is a bit steep but everything tasted high quality. The sandwich was really good. Nothing out of the ordinary though. Coffee was a bit bitter but I still drank it all and enjoyed it! The aesthetic of this cafe is really nice. Limited seating though. They also have a walk up window outside you can order at too. Something to note is there is a sign saying don't allow laptops in the main seating area so this might not be the best place to sit down and do work. Although, I did still see people using them so maybe they don't care too much? Cute place, would recommend if you happen to be in the area.

Yelp
I used the take away service but super happy! Overall the cappuccino and matcha were delicious, classically foamy and really lovely rich flavors that met every expectation. I would go out my way to come here again and hopefully get to sit inside next time to see the ambiance. From the outside it seemed there was good seating space, nice lighting, a bathroom and friendly crowd.

Anna B.

Yelp
A sweet, charming bakery. You can order outside via a counter or go inside to order, there are some tables inside. I got a lavender latte + orange ginger scone and both were delicious. Sounds like they rotate scone flavors so ask them what they have. Located in what seemed like a quieter part of the city, easy to get to, street parking in the area.

Ashlee T.

Yelp
Very cute spot that is pretty accessible as we were in the Back Bay area. They have a handful of pastries and sandwiches that are good for both breakfast and lunch, but we just hopped in for some coffee/tea. Cortado was delicious and I also got a matcha. It was a bit sweet for my taste. It was a bit of a bummer that they use a matcha syrup so they are unable to control sweetness. We were able to find a spot to sit, but I can see it being pretty difficult to find seating on the weekend.

Eva A.

Yelp
cute chill clean airy vibe, Got the black tulip (barista described it as a double espresso infused with mint, over ice), added the complimentary oat milk and OMG this may be one of the best coffees I've ever had. I would definitely return to try the food as it's very affordable and would probably be just as delicious as the coffee :)

Don V.

Yelp
No response from my previous posts to the owners tell me they do not care. The owners are only out to milk the neighborhood.

Yelp
We were recommended to stop by this cafe during our short trip to Boston and I am so glad we did. To start, the shop itself has a quaint and cozy feeling. There is limited seating, but they make the most of the small space. There is also a grab and go window for those wanting to pick up rather than dine in. They have a small patio with a few tables outside as well, which was pleasant to sit at despite it being a little chilly. The baked goods were incredible and the latte had a unique flavor, reminiscent of cinnamon - the best one I had during my stay. If I am ever back in the city, I will for sure stop by again.

Emily M.

Yelp
What you want a coffee shop to be! Good coffee, kind staff, and lots of options. This is not a cafe you'd consider quaint or quiet, the line was put the door when I went and people were having lively conversations, not something I minded but important to note! Paid around 13$ for two coffees and I thought it was worth the price.

TJ S.

Yelp
I have not stopped in here in a long time, but the coffee and the baked goods are just as or perhaps better than I remember. This urban oasis in the Back Bay is a short walking distance from the Copley Place, but worth the trip. There is a small seating area with comfy cushions and tables to meet up with friends. Interestingly enough, I see the "No Laptop Please" signs on the wall yet all the people sitting there are on laptops or devices. No one from the shop is saying anything about that. The Caprece sandwich is my usual, if I see it on the menu. The ripe sliced tomato, creamy mozzarella, arugulas and vinaigrette on a moist baguette is truly a classic. Two thumbs up for a simple yet well done piece. The ordering was easy but the baristas and the kitchen staff need a better communication with the order desk. My sandwich came out way before my black ice coffee... and 2nd large coffee 5 minutes later. Glad to take the 2nd free coffee but the confusion was in the air, a lot.

Yelp
At 8 AM, Greystone Cafe was already bustling in spite of the cold weather. There isn't much seating, but there is a side window dedicated to to-go orders, so I suspect many people grab-and-go rather than dine in. I got the seasonal scone, which was sweet potato and candied ginger flavored, and a London fog. Both were delicious, and I would get them again. It's so hard to find a good scone, but this one was dense, moist, and buttery. The sweet potato and candied ginger were unique and harmonious. The London fog was smooth and creamy and warmed me right up. Note: There is a hidden 3% kitchen appreciation fee.

Marissa E.

Yelp
Adorable coffee shop with great pastries! The cappuccino is legit. I'd say everything was equal or better than tatte without the long wait and chain vibes. The service was incredibly efficient. Only odd thing is they have a sign stating no laptops so not a place to work!

Steve S.

Yelp
Greystone is an absolute gem. Everyone I know (myself included) who knows of its existence and lives within a 10-minute walk of it is there 3-4 times a week; it's just that sort of place. The pastries are great, the coffee is great, and the breakfast sandwich is great. (Bummer that the breakfast sandwich isn't available on the weekends, though.) Greystone had a fun idea circa 2019, if memory serves: open a space that also allows people to buy from a window onto the sidewalk. The idea would be that people could walk by with their dogs, pick up a coffee, and keep going. What do you know: in 2020, Covid happened, and the window was perfect. Today, in 2023, you can buy from the window or buy (and sit down) inside the store. I hope Greystone sticks around for many years. It's a real anchor for the neighborhood.

Holly C.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious latte, tasty breakfast sandwich, and cute vibe. The staff were pleasant and efficient. I didn't try any of the pastries this time but will be back! Place is cozy and intimate, but as it was very busy it was challenging to find a place when it was too cold to take it to go.

Angelina Z.

Yelp
I had the best hojicha latte ever here. Not too sweet and perfectly milky. It's also a great place to get light work done, lots of natural light and pretty quiet too.

Ayall S.

Yelp
I swung by this place and was impressed with their pastries; the almond croissant was phenomenal. The coffee wasn't that great, but the service was nice and the interior was neat and spacious.

Momina B.

Yelp
What a cute & cozy cafe! I stopped by around 7:30am before work for breakfast and really enjoyed my time. I tried their iced latte with their homemade maple syrup, which was delicious. The breakfast sandwich (not pictured) was amazing & so was the pastry. They had comfortable seating and a bathroom too! It's a great place to sit and read or catch up with friends.

Brooke C.

Yelp
I love this place. The little outdoor order/pickup window is adorable. It makes it a fully dog-friendly experience. I went for lunch so I got the Turkey sandwich, lavender lemonade, and the little dog biscuit for my pup! The drink was tasty and the sandwich tasted fresh and great. I just wish there were little outdoor tables to enjoy the food on, but we made the outdoor benches work!

Yutin Z.

Yelp
Cute cafe in the South End! I got a latte with oat milk and their homemade syrup (cardamom). It was a subtle flavor, the latte was more rich compared to some others I've had. I also got their special breakfast sandwich, it was a bit pricier compared to other breakfast sandwiches I've had, but it was really good! The bread was crispy, the egg was runny inside, great sauce, and the arugula added a freshness to it! Overall, would recommend checking this place out!

Lillian Q.

Yelp
Solid coffee, great pastries. Better than South end buttery. The lamination on my croissant was *baker's kiss*. The line on the weekends is long though so be prepared to wait or come before 9.

Marissa R.

Yelp
We came here on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't as busy as anticipated, although we waited about 20 minutes for a table to become available. The inside is very cute, but not a ton of seating. Most of the pastries were sold out around lunchtime. We each ordered a sandwich plus a coffee, and were absolutely shocked to see the total was.... $40. The sandwiches were fine, nothing amazing, and each of our coffees were mediocre. I got a dirty chai latte and it was gritty and bitter. My partner got an oat milk latte and it was just fine. Also, worth noting they do not allow laptops to be used inside. Overall it's cute, but you're definitely paying south end prices and I wouldn't come again.

John H.

Yelp
Cute walk up spot if you are near Copley or the Back Bay T stop and need a quick coffee and pastry. Don't worry if you see a line - it moves quickly. There is also a sit down area inside where people were working and hanging out if you want to take your time. The pastries were delicious. They aren't overly sweet and rich which I like but still pack lots of subtle flavor. The banana bread is incredibly moist and loaded with chocolate chips. The apple cake didn't have much apple in it but I still enjoyed it. Not really any parking around as you would expect in this area but still worth visiting this neighborhood gem.

Nicole L.

Yelp
I love the mother daughter team and story behind how they stayed afloat with the takeout window when the pandemic started. I used to live in the south end and recently visited again and finally got to sit in the cute back patio (note there is only room for 2 small tables). Tip, if there's a line outside, go inside to order. I've enjoyed the chocolate croissant more than muffins, and they have inventive flavors like rosemary strawberry scones. The gluten friendly scone also doesn't taste gf at all. I usually go for coffee, but I loved the iced matcha with homemade almond milk!

Naomi L.

Yelp
Solid corner cafe/bakery with cute interior. Fewer selection for pastries than Tatte or Flour, but decent selection of scones, cookies, etc. the sandwiches are really good and the labeled packaging is a nice bougie touch. I really like the BLT. It's got a lovely mix of flavors, which is not like your usual BLT. I'd like to try their beverages next time

Salma S.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my coffee at Greystone Cafe! I got the Matcha latte, and it was so yummy - I could really taste the flavor of the matcha. My friend ordered a croissant and vanilla latte, and said that both were amazing. There's such a wide variety of pastries and sandwiches on the menu that look great, and I'll probably be returning to try them at some point! The cafe itself has such a cute vibe - it's so aesthetic and the seating area feels very homey yet elegant. The staff are friendly too, and they finished making our drinks in such a short amount of time - so service is great! I really enjoyed this place and would definitely recommend it.

Anja V.

Yelp
I thought Greystone was fine. It has a really cute ambiance and the take out window is a cool idea. There was a line and it looked crowded inside, but they moved quickly with the orders. I had an iced oat milk latte with their house made cardamom clove latte. The drink was creamy and the espresso was fine but syrup flavor wasn't that strong, I was hoping for something bolder, stronger, and more flavorful. I also had a pumpkin muffin was good but nothing outstanding. I'm not usually in the Back Bay area so I don't know if I'll be back but I did have higher expectations since the ambiance looked so great and the reviews were high.

Sarah Y.

Yelp
I heard all the hype about this place, so I went twice to check it out. The aesthetics are definitely there and it's a beautiful building located in the South End. Currently, they are not allowing indoor seating and there are two small tables outside. Otherwise, it's just take out from a outdoor booth. Not everything is pictured, but I tried the following: - Cold Brew - Iced Coffee - Matcha Latte with almond milk - Decaf iced coffee w / oat milk Food items: - Cheddar Biscuit - Early Grey scone - Chocolate Croissant I would say the quality of things is very much subpar. There's nothing amazing about the drinks, nor is there anything amazing about the pastries. Cheddar Biscuit: 2/5 - Tasted too much pepper and not as much cheese. Earl Grey scone: 2.5/5 - I really love earl grey scones, so I've had a lot and this wasn't one of the best ones I've had. Chocolate Croissant: 3/5 - The exterior of it was well done, toasted crunchy sugar on the top. The rest of it was just a normal chocolate croissant. I heard the chocolate chip cookie is very famous so I might stop by one more time to try it, but besides that it's just an average place with nice aesthetics!

Anna X.

Yelp
Greystone is my favorite cafe/bakery in the South End! I have so much love for this snug little space. It's really hard not to be smitten with their inventive and fresh menu selections. Here are my favorite things to get: Cowboy cookie - A scrumptious cookie packed with oats, butterscotch, chocolate chips, and white chocolate chips. It's crispy on the sides and a bit soft in the middle. I always add one to my order whenever I stop by. It's a must-try! I prefer this over their chocolate chip cookie. Citrus scone - A dense yet soft scone with a yummy citrus glaze and candied citrus pieces sprinkled on top. It's pretty hefty in size, so it's worth the $3.85 price tag. I add one to my order whenever I'm in the mood for a scone. I've also had their earl grey ginger scone back in December and loved it, but it hasn't been on the menu since. Greystone, please bring it back! Everything bagel croissant - Need I say more?? This flaky, buttery croissant is topped with plenty of everything bagel seasoning and has a cream cheese filling in the middle. One thing about Greystone is that they WILL serve up humongous croissants the size of a small baguette. This isn't your standard Pillsbury croissant roll size!!! I believe it's only available on the weekends and it sells out quickly, so get there early. For Valentine's Day, they had a rosewater cream version and it was truly iconic. I'm excited to see what other seasonal/holiday-themed pastries they'll unveil. :-) Cheddar biscuit - A breakfast classic with a twist. It's cheddar-y, spicy, dense (almost scone-like), and delicious. Vegan raspberry lemon crumb bar - Raspberry jam fans, rejoice! This crumb bar is moist but holds up well due to the buttery shortbread base. You also get plenty of raspberry jam in every bite. BLT sandwich - This is available starting at 11 AM daily. Cured tomatoes, bacon, arugula, avocado green goddess dressing, leek relish, and sourdough bread come together to create the yummiest BLT to ever exist. London Fog latte - Greystone makes the best London Fogs, hands down! It's creamy and has the perfect amount of sweetness. Their regular latte tastes great too (and you can add flavored syrups for an upcharge), but I'm not a fan of their cold brew because it's super bitter. If you don't like caffeinated bevs, try their iced blood orange hibiscus or lemonade series! Greystone Cafe is my favorite spot to go to for a pick me up or some delicious bites.

Angie F.

Yelp
I came for chippy night, where Greystone sells ice cream sandwiches bound by their fresh-baked cookies for a couple hours in the evening one Wednesday a month! My friend and I ran here after work, and it was the perfect post-run treat. There was no wait at 5:30, and they served us out of a walk up window, which was super cute. Although that meant minimal seating outside, we happily ate our ice cream sandwiches while walking back. Now that summer is winding down, I'm not sure when the next chippy night will be, but they usually post about events on their instagram.

Christiane M.

Yelp
so cuteeee i got the cheddar sandwich with avocado instead of bacon and it was so good. also all of the decor inside was so cozy

Georgia J.

Yelp
Loved the vibe of greystone!! Super light and airy inside. They were sold out of a ton of pastries, but the service was really good! Solid sandwiches and coffee!

nikki d.

Yelp
People hype this place up and I don't know what they are ordering but every time I've gone, my coffee taste burnt with a splash of water. If someone knows what to order that will actually taste well please let me know. Wanting to like this place but having a hard time.

May Z.

Yelp
very cute vibes! the pastries are delicious but certain flavors sell out fast. really wanted to try the blueberry lemon poppy muffin but it was sold out since we went later in the day so can't wait to go back to try!

Sophia J.

Yelp
best croissant ever! such good coffee and quick service. love the vibe. greystone is my go to south end pick!

Brandon T.

Yelp
One of the best matcha lattes in Boston (after Ogawa and Cafe Maiko of course). I have yet to try their coffee yet, but all of their baked goods were yummy, especially the tahini dark chocolate banana bread which I HIGHLY recommend. Incredibly rich, moist, and full of subtle flavor without being too sweet. I love the walk up window concept, and the interior is cozy and aesthetic as well. Good luck finding a seat though.

Kelly L.

Yelp
Super cute cafe on the way home from work for me. They have a cute takeout window filled with coffee and all sorts of baked goods. I got the tahini banana bread slice and the tomato corn galette. The banana bread was super moist with lots of chocolate chunks and a hint of the tahini swirl. The top was also crunchy with sugar topping. The corn galette had a great crust and the corn and tomato were super fresh tasting. Definitely coming back to try out the other stuff!

Natalie L.

Yelp
Truly a must visit cafe/bakery in Boston. The coffee is delicious, the pastries are unreal, and the overall vibe of the place is soooo comforting & cozy. It is by far my favorite coffee shop in the city. The banana bread is actually to die for too--im drooling thinking about it. And im always going to love and appreciate a bakery that goes out of their way to make yummy seasonal flavors!!!

Alana K.

Yelp
I stopped by for lunch on a Sunday right before noon. There was a short line to order, but it moved quickly. I online-ordered, so I just picked up my drink and sandwich at the window and took it to a park nearby. One thing to note is that Greystone is operating for take-out only at this time (except for their small shop inside), although I did see a few tables outside the café. I ordered the veg sandwich, which was portobello mushrooms, plantains, arugula, feta, and pesto on sourdough. It was good, but not greater than the sum of its parts. I also ordered an iced coffee, which was decent. Overall, I had a pleasant experience at Greystone, but didn't find it to be remarkably better than other cafés in Boston. Next time, I would definitely like to try one of their pastries or take a peek inside at their shop.

Jack J.

Yelp
A coffee oasis in the South End. Great sandwiches, pastries, and drinks from a sidewalk window. Kaitlyn provided friendly and knowledgeable service.

G. U.

Yelp
Love love love. Hands down favorite Chai in all of boston, excellent sandwiches and the cutest walk up window. Pastries are pretty good, and a very nice staff.

Ploy N.

Yelp
Super cute spot in the neighborhood with only service window for now. Decent coffee and very good-looking pastries. I very likely will not be able to resist the next time...

Megan W.

Yelp
This place was cute, quick, and yummy. Everything seamed very healthy. You do have to walk up to the window to order and there isn't much seating to eat but if you want to pick up a bite on the way to where your going it's great. Would definitely come back. I have been vegan / vegetarian off and on for years now and this is one of the best veggie sandwiches I've had for a long time.

Gauravi P.

Yelp
Greystone reminds me of the quintessential New York City gauche cafes that have that certain je ne sais quoi. We stopped by here for a quick coffee to go. We knew whatever we purchased from this adorable cafe would have a high price tag. I ordered a cortado with oat milk. My husband purchased an iced coffee. The coffee quality was good and service was fast. We ordered under an awning window. It was a nice experience in that way actually - like a fancy walk through. We were happy with our drink purchases and the hand sanitizer smelt very nice!

Jenny T.

Yelp
Food: EXPENSIVE. Coffee was GOOD, but their pastries are SMALL for what you pay - I wouldn't come back just for the pastries. Store: I must say their store is really cute and aesthetic. Great outdoor seating, used to come here before classes, it's a cute spot for sure. The South End is also fun.

Jose C.

Yelp
Staff was friendly. Coffee was awesome! Scone with the lavender glaze on top was amazing. Nice cozy vibe inside.

Hieu L.

Yelp
We got the roast beef and turkey sandwiches. This was actually our second time going back that day since the first roast beef we got was so good. They changed the bread though, so I'm not sure if you're suppose to request certain bread? early in the day when we ordered I think we got ciabatta which we were more of a fan of, still good though

Peter R.

Yelp
Super dope spot! I believe there is an inside as well but I went to the quick window. All three ladies at the window were helpful with my cookie choice (chocolate chip). Will most definitely be back to try the coffee as I'm a fiend for it. The appearance and aesthetic looked dope.

Elizabeth V.

Yelp
Coffee amazing. Food great. BUT their salted chocolate chip cookie is to die for!!! Be prepared for long lines but quick service. Certain foods become sold out so get there early!
