NYC’s New Restaurant Openings

"Crown Heights has a new spot for Caribbean-Asian fusion. At Greyz Bistro, you can get things like bao with jerk pork, and something called the “Stylish Chicken Sandwich,” with a jerk fried chicken thigh and braised oxtails on a toasted brioche bun, served with breadfruit fries. They also offer a $25 brunch prix fixe." - will hartman

I’ve been to Greyz Bistro on multiple occasions. The food is freshly made and delicious, the service is friendly and respectful, and Chef Cheese is kind, personable and open to criticism and/or suggestions. The atmosphere is a vibe with old school reggae music jamming. We’ve tried several dishes and it never disappoints: Lobster egg roll, vegetable spring rolls, oxtail Mac and cheese, lobster fried rice, oxtail fried rice, oxtail stuffed chicken, fish sandwich with fries, pork bao buns, lo mein, and Guinness stout crème brûlée. Anyone looking for amazing food, service and great ambiance should definitely come through.

Today was our first time visiting this establishment, and we will be back! Had the rum punch, oxtail stuffed jerk chicken, oxtail fried rice, and cheesecake. Everything was delicious! The chef was accommodating and greeted everyone at their table. If you want amazing carribean cuisine, look no further than Greyz Bistro.

“A Delicious Experience At Greyz Bistro” Went for brunch with my family this past Sunday and had an amazing experience from start to finish. We were warmly greeted with a smile as soon as we arrived and seated within five minutes. As we browsed the menu, we were treated to crispy wonton chips with sweet chili sauce, such a nice touch! The ambiance was inviting, with old-school reggae playing in the background, creating a chill and nostalgic vibe. The food was cooked fresh to order and came out hot, flavorful, and beautifully presented. You could tell the ingredients were fresh nothing frozen and the bao buns were especially delicious. Every dish looked like it was made with care and passion. The chef clearly takes pride in both taste and presentation. I'm so glad we decided to try this spot..it definitely didn’t disappoint. Great food, great value, and even better vibes. Thank you, Greyz Bistro! We’ll definitely be back soon.

With creative and innovative Jamaican dishes served in a very cozy setting with relaxed vibes, Greyz Bistro offers a unique culinary experience that you absolutely must try in order to appreciate. Chef Cheese has created several creative Jamaican dishes that are absolutely delicious and flavorful, and cannot be found at any other Jamaican restaurant in NYC. Everything we ate and drank was amazing, affordably priced, and the portions for the entrees were large enough to share. I had the oxtail fried rice, while my friend had a jerk pork bao bun and jerk chicken bao bun, all of which were very flavorful. For dessert, we had the guiness crème brûlée which was simply divine!! And don't get me started on the mango lemon drop martini and signature rum punch!! The chef informed us that he plans to expand the menu and offer two bao buns per order instead of one. I can't wait to visit again to try more of the current dishes and look forward to all the new additions, which I'm positive are guaranteed to be amazing!!

After seeing Greyz Bistro on Instagram, I decided this would be the perfect place to take my mother for dinner to celebrate her birthday. We were a party of 4 and was met with a warm welcome by the waitress. The restaurant is quaint, but had enough seating for various party sizes. Our order included: oxtail fried rice, lobster fried rice, guava glazed salmon, curry goat patties, chicken wings, and two kinds of fries--breadfruit and regular. Everyone enjoyed their entrees which had a balance of spice and flavors. The portions were generous (at least to my standards = ). I very much enjoyed the salmon which was perfectly cooked. The breadfruit fries was so delightful.. such a innovative idea! My least favorite dish was the curry goat patties. It was missing "oomph" and the accompanied sauce didn't add anything. Maybe a coconut curry sauce may have worked better. All in all, I would return to try other things on their menu or their brunch. Kudos to the chef and owner who came over to our table to thank us for dining.

I recently went to brunch at Greyz Bistro. Newly opened unique Caribbean-Asian fusion spot in Brooklyn. Overall, it was a great experience! I ordered the Stylish Fish sandwich which was Fried Catfish cooked to perfection. The catfish was crispy outside and tender inside, with a nice balance of flavors. My friend enjoyed the Stylish Chicken Sandwich. Which was very unique. As it was fried chicken with oxtail on top. She connected that it was tender and flavorful. The portions were very generous. Service was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming. I'd definitely return to try more dishes.

Google
Dope Caribbean-Asian fusion place. They had a special which allowed me to get the jerk wings + their oxtail fried rice—the latter of which was great. The rum punch came out to $15, and the wings were a bit salty. However the chef was great about accepting constructive criticism and the vibes were great. Definitely recommend!!

Google
JUST HAD THE BEST OXTAIL FRIED RICE AT GREYZ BISTRO! Tender, flavorful, and addictive! 5/5 stars! Portion size was generous, and presentation impressive. Service was top-notch. Highly recommend! If you're a fan of oxtail or just looking for a creative twist on fried rice, Greyz Bistro's Oxtail Fried Rice is a must-try. I'll definitely be back for more!

Yelp
I visited for dinner on a Tuesday evening and service was fast and welcoming from the door. Someone greets you as soon as you enter to seat you at one of the intimate tables with a view of the creative mural that seems to depict river rafting in Jamaica in the colors and shapes of the Jamaican flag I had the pork bao buns and oxtail fried rice. The buns were pillowy soft with thick pork belly pieces and a slaw to cut through the fat and sweetness of the pork. The oxtail fried rice was pure bliss. There's huge chunks of oxtail all throughout and each bite was such a pleasant harmony of flavors between the fresh green onions, tender oxtail bites, and steaming hot soy sauce bathed rice. I am obsessed. It was one of those meals that leave you smiling with every bite I look forward to returning, their brunch menu has a couple of unique entrees that id love to experience

Yelp
Greyz Bistro is cute and has so much potential. The happy hour drinks were nice, i recall there was a rum punch and lemon drop. It was pretty clean, and we arrived at opening. We met the owner and chef. it was alone until more staff arrived. We had the boa buns seafood friend rice and the oxtail friend rice, which was scrumptious. I want to return for brunch. the service declined as more staff showed up to help. My friend would ask for more water, or napkins or a drink multiple times from different people before it finally arrived. I like the location and the size because it is great for intimate dinners or friend dates.

Yelp
- good service - 60 minute bottomless brunch on Sundays - jerk is spicy - I liked the 80s Rnb soundtrack - low key vibe - strawberry lemonade was good I feel it would be good with champagne - they showed the World Series ln the big screen - BOGO tacos on Tuesday - pork was good - shrimp was good - grilled vegetables were tasty

Yelp
Sunday brunch well spent at Greyz Bistro. My friend from Florida shared an IG post and of course the foodie that I am decided let me check them out. Service was excellent greeted with a smile and customer service was on point. The chef stepped out and greeted us also which was a special moment. Cozy ambiance good for family and perfect for a brunch date. They say continue dating while married so of course my husband and I invest our time with brunch dates. Great spot in crown heights Brooklyn check them out if you're in the area the food and drink is definitely worth the visit, you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Don't let the small, minimalist dining room and decor fool you. This spot has a great staff, whom are friendly and make you feel individually welcomed. They have a bottomless drink option during brunch, $25 for 1 hour. I made sure to capitalize on that perk and you can get it spiked with Wray if you feel adventurous. Dee wore many hats, she was hostess, waitress, and made sure I was comfortable throughout my entire visit. The chef/owner came out and was equally as versed in customer service and helped make my overall experience that much better. The food was cooked throughly and with love. I enjoyed my entire meal. There is a small bar and a few tvs, in case you need to keep an eye on your favorite sporting event like me. 5/5.

Yelp
I've tried several things from their menu thus far, their Thai side salad, mushroom & jerk pork bao buns and island pasta, but today, I just stopped in for a quick takeaway. The restaurant opens at 4 and I arrived just before 5 so there wasn't a wait. The space is small but still feels roomy with tables, chairs and bar seating as well as a cute little photo wall that is popular amongst brunch spots. I was helped by a server but saw the owner as he came out from the kitchen briefly as well. WOW. I've never had breadfruit fries before but now I'm a believer! Great flavor and texture, I wish there was more!! The Stylish Chicken Sandwich was great as well and as someone who normally doesn't go for chicken, I would order this again, as the fry batter really added a great flavor to it. I wish there were more additional toppings (oxtail, lettuce, sauce) on the bun as well. I would love to continue to explore their menu, specifically with their oxtail fried rice and brunch menu. Great new addition to the neighborhood!

Yelp
Was very excited to try this new establishment but it was very underwhelming to say the least. Visited here on a Friday evening from the outside it looks pretty roomy inside but it isn't, the size is small seating for an average of 20 including the bar and the bar is also small I wouldn't recommend standing with a large group. Our server seemed alil overwhelmed. We waited almost 30 minutes for water, we reached there at 7:25 and was trying to some happy hour drinks in before it ending at 8pm. She came and took our order at 7:55. The rum punch was poorly made, it taste like straight wrey and nephew with a pinch of juice. The bao buns weren't what I thought they would be the pork belly was over cooked and the shrimp had way too much jerk seasoning the sauce on the plate taste like straight mayo. The tacos had way too much raw cabbage and the flavor was all over the place topped with pickled peppers I don't think were needed. We ordered the oxtail fried rice and after an hour of waiting never received it. When asked for the check they charged us for it and they didn't realize we never got it. I had high hopes for this restaurant but it didn't even meet the minimum expectations I had set.

Yelp
Came for brunch with my wife and we really enjoyed ourselves. STAFF The chef/ host/ waitress were very friendly. They all came and checked on us throughout our meal to see if we needed anything. VIBES They had a live DJ. He played everything from Beres and Jah Cure to Tevin Campbell and Celine Dion. You know the vibes. I felt like I was at a stone love brunch lol MENU There were lots of great things on the menu so my wife and split up to try as much as we could lol. APPETIZERS My wife ordered the jerk pork bao buns which she loved. She said it was a little spicy, but she really liked the flavor. They used bacon or maybe it was pork belly (idk), but it was a really cool twist on jerk pork. It also was topped with a nice slaw. I order the sweet chili wings and they were nice and crispy and the sweet chili sauce was delicious. The wings also came with a slaw that was great too. We forgot to take photos before we at them all lol. ENTREES I had the ackee with shrimp and lobster. I'm not a big lobster person, but it sounded unique and I'm glad I ordered it. I'd definitely come back and get that again. There was even callaloo in there and I loved it. The combination of all the flavors were great . My meal came with festival and I'm not gonna lie that was some of the best festival I've ever had! I don't know how but the texture was like a mix of a festival and a fry dumpling. The chef back there doing magic lol. I need like 10 of those to go next time! I really liked my food and my wife did too because she kept stealing food from my plate. My wife ordered the fried chicken/oxtail sandwich. The fried chicken was juicy AND THE OXTAIL WAS SO GOOD! And they were not stingy with the oxtail at all. I was actually very surprised with how much oxtail was on there lol (IYKYK). It's a big sandwich too, so if you come really hungry this might be the one you want to order. And the sandwich came with breadfruit fries, which I was excited about because I love fried breadfruit. I love the cool twist they put on all my favorite things. DRINKS I actually wasn't drinking that day, but it was a pre-fixe menu so I ordered a drink anyway so my wife could try it. We got the wray & "niece" punch and the passion fruit mimosa. My wife liked them both, cuz she had a few glasses of each lol. They bring you your drink along with a small caraffe for refills. OVERALL It's a great place to do a group brunch or celebrate a birthday/milestone. I'm happy to see such a great new addition to the neighborhood. We'll also be back to try dinner for sure! No matter what you order, get some of the festival for the table!

Yelp
After seeing this restaurant pop up on my IG feed several times, I decided to give it a try. Here is my honest review. Ambiance: Lacking effort. The music playlist was good but the setup is tight in the small establishment. Additionally the dark paint in a small space does not fit. Drinks: The rum punch was not good. It tasted like Alcohol with red 40. No fruit flavor at all. There are tons of rum punch recipes you can incorporate onto your own. Food: Bao Buns were mushy. The meat inside was ok. The presentation needs work. Tacos were messy. The shrimp was too crunchy and the sauce tasted store bought. Service: There was 1 young lady serving about 15 guests. She was pleasent however, She needed support. Basic service etiquette was lacking. We had to ask for water several times. We got food with no silverware and had to ask. Drinks took a long time. We had to ask for a bill adjustment. A man came to table to apologize however I don't know if he was a manger/ owner or what because he didn't introduce himself. He offered a free rum punch on our next visit as compensation. SMH. Unfortunately I will not be returning because this visit was not worth the time or money spent and left nothing to justify a return visit.

Yelp
I stopped in Bklyn at this spot to treat myself! It did not disappoint. I ordered the Shimp Tempura Tacos, the Jerk Chicken Bao & the Oxtail Fried Rice with some Rum Punch on the side. This Chef definitely knows what he's doing. The flavors & seasonings he put together on his food was like heaven in my mouth. I will definitely be back with a crowd of friends. Thank you

Yelp
New to the neighborhood, this Caribbean gem shouldn't be missed. With a modern decor and delicious food this will become a staple for us. Our waitress Valentina was attentive and made sure our drinks were never empty! We enjoyed the Jerk Pork Bao Buns, which were just the right blend of sweet and spicy with the buns a spongey consistency. For our entrees, we enjoyed the Chicken & Bailey's Waffles, moist on the inside and the perfect level of crunch . We had the signature Stylish Chicken Sandwich, and no wonder it's his signature sandwich it was flavorful and the breadfruit fries were amazing. Live music topped off the perfect Caribbean atmosphere. Come check out Greyz, you won't regret it.

Yelp
Small intimate spot with great food and drinks. The owner is amazing very engaging with customers excellent service.

Yelp
Loved the drinks!! The Bellini was pretty strong! Also got the island pasta and that was a hit! I would give it a 8/10 for a solid "Rasta pasta" type dish for the flavor, and the generous colossal shrimp. I know it's super simple but the garlic bread was so addicting...uhm can we get a basket of those please! Next time I would try the Guava salmon but they were out of salmon :( I'm always a huge fan of supporting new businesses in BK, especially the Caribbean community and this one did not miss.

Yelp
I've really enjoyed all the food I've gotten here so far! Been quite a few times since I live on the same block. I'm happy they're in the neighborhood, it's hard to find a spot to sit and eat a meal after 5pm around these few blocks!

Jamilla S.

Yelp
This was my 1st time there at the recommendation of a friend. Its a nice intimate restaurant, good music. The customer service was A1, Crystal was such an attentive host & server & accommodating. The food was superb I had the curry goat cocktail patty with the tambrind sauce, it was a so flavorful. The sweet yet spicy sauce was a great compliment to the curry goat. I got the Oxtail Mac & Cheese the pieces of meat were generous & the mac & cheese tasted homemade, just the right amount of cheese, & not too salty. Their Greyz Punch aka fruit punch was good & very refreshing. The Chef came out to check on our party to see if the food was to our liking. I will definitely come back here.

Yelp
Nice calm spot in Crown Heights with Great food. The fish sandwich was flaky and tender, breadfruit fries were a new take on breadfruit I've never had before and the stuffed oxtail jerk chicken....CHEFS KISS! I'll be back next week!!!

Christina S.

Yelp
I recently had the most unforgettable dining experience with the jerk chicken stuffed with oxtail. From the very first bite, I was amazed by how well the chicken was perfectly seasoned. Then that tender oxtail...Baybeeeeeee!! Between the juicy chicken and the melt-in-your-mouth oxtail, every single bite was bursting with so much depth and flavor. If you're looking for a unique twist on a classic dish, this is an absolute must-try! This dish is a perfect harmony of textures and tastes - absolutely a new favorite! Well done, Chef!!

Sheleitha C.

Yelp
The best place for Caribbean Asian fusion is here! The food is absolutely delicious, can't wait to visit again.
