Where To Dine in Cocoa Beach and Cape Canaveral, Florida | Eater Miami

"Head to this breezy Port Canaveral classic before a day of deep-sea fishing or parasailing: breakfast (served daily 7–10:30 a.m.) includes snow crab–topped Benedicts, omelets, and a filling "Shotgun Start" plate with eggs, buttermilk pancakes, bacon, and hash browns, and later the outdoor tiki bar is known for famed shark kabobs, inventive uses of invasive lionfish, and cover bands crooning on a wooden waterfront deck at dusk." - Tierney Plumb

We had an absolutely fantastic dinner at Grills Seafood Deck & Tiki Bar tonight, and it’s hands-down one of the best meals we’ve had on the Space Coast! From the moment we walked in, the vibe was perfect—waterfront views of the port, a lively yet relaxed atmosphere, and that classic Florida tiki bar energy. We were seated in like 10 minutes and greeted by our server, Gerald, who was an absolute rockstar. He was friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the menu. His recommendations were spot-on and made the experience even better. We started with the bacon-wrapped scallops—perfectly seared, juicy, and the bacon added just the right smoky crunch. Unreal! For mains, we shared the Cuban shrimp sandwich (loaded with perfectly spiced shrimp, fresh toppings, and that crispy bread) and the grilled fish of the day (whatever it was, it was fresh, flaky, and seasoned beautifully). Everything was cooked to perfection—fresh, flavorful, and generous portions. Finished it off with a favorite Key lime pie. To wash it all down, we went with margaritas—strong, refreshing, and exactly what we needed after a long day. Gerald suggested a couple of tweaks to make them even better, and they hit the spot. The whole evening felt effortless and fun. Grills has that rare combo of great food, stunning views, and exceptional service. Gerald, if you’re reading this—thank you for making our dinner unforgettable! We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in Cape Canaveral. Highly recommend—5 stars all the way! 🌴🍤🍹

We had a party of four and ordered fish Reuben, chicken fingers and fries, mahi plate and Cuban sandwich. Everything was amazing and the service was 8 out of 10. Totally passable! Amanda was attentive but busy. We love coming here. Walked along the water and checked out what the fisherman caught and the pelicans waiting to eat the scraps.

My wife and I dined here on August 15, 2025 and it was a nice evening. Food was fresh and delicious, atmosphere pleasant, wait staff friendly and prompt. Very cool atmosphere here with lots of deck seating outside, as well as both and inside and outside tiki bar. Very popular with locals. Excellent place to watch the cruise ships go in and out of port while you are dining. We also got to watch Space X recover one of it's boosters off the barge and crane it onto the pier for its next mission. Highly recommend this restaurant over the other three waterfront dining options located just to the west of it.

We like the food here, and know the menu without even seeing it. we really go here because of the views. You can see the cruise ships departing and arriving from Port Canaveral. Some of them even dock right next to the Grills deck. Very fun location but gets crowded very fast. You can also see rocket launches from this location.

Everything was delicious! The waitress was very knowledgeable about their fish of the day and how they tasted. Our food was fresh and cooked perfectly. Even the kids enjoyed their fish! The kabobs were flavorful and cooked perfectly. The beans had great flavor. Their taters had a nice light spice to them and weren’t overly seasoned. The shrimp Cuban was extremely flavorful! The birds got really close while eating outside but never tried to snatch our food from us. It was so fun watching the fishermen bring in their catches of the day. They were kind and let the kids watch them clean their fish and my kids enjoyed getting to help. The atmosphere is very family friendly and super inviting.

Grills Seafood in Port Canaveral delivers a dining experience that truly stands out, even in an area full of great coastal restaurants. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with warm, wonderful service that makes you feel welcome and well taken care of. The staff here clearly takes pride in what they do, offering friendly attention without ever feeling rushed or intrusive. Now let’s talk about the food—because it deserves every bit of praise. I had what was easily the best piece of fish I’ve ever had in my life. Fresh, flaky, and cooked to absolute perfection, it was the kind of dish that stops you in your tracks after the first bite. Everything on the plate was perfectly seasoned, even the vegetables, which is something many restaurants overlook. At Grills Seafood, every detail counts, and it shows. One standout worth mentioning is the shark kabob—a unique and flavorful option that’s definitely worth a try if you're feeling adventurous. It was tender, lightly seasoned, and delicious in a way that surprises and delights. My biggest recommendation for anyone visiting for the first time? Try the fish of the day. With seafood this fresh and skillfully prepared, you really can’t go wrong. Grills Seafood knows how to showcase the best of what Florida waters have to offer, making each visit memorable and satisfying. If you're anywhere near Port Canaveral, this spot is an absolute must.

Google
Alway’s a great meal and a good time. This is the second time visiting this restaurant. We actually exited 95 to come here rather than eat poor expressway food. The Cobia and Mahi were awesome. The smoked fish dip was good too.

Google
Visited Grills tonight before our cruise sail tomorrow. From the research and planning, several folks recommend this place for food and drinks. We certainly weren’t disappointed! I tried the shrimp Cuban (added bacon and banana pepper- house favorite) and wife got the coconut shrimp. Food was very fresh and I thoroughly enjoyed my sandwich. I also indulged in the Grills margarita which was great. Overall a great dinner, quick service and good food. Thanks Grills team!

Yelp
The weather was so nice on 1/1/26 that we sat outside. The clam chowder was wonderful. Tahiti taters were the bomb! Thank you for the great service!!
google avatar

Yelp
Good spot to listen to music and hang outside by the water with a nice view and drinks. All the staff was friendly and our waiter was a great guy, the food itself is fine but it's not the main reason you go, The kids meals come on frisbees which is cool !

Yelp
Great seafood, great views, and great service from friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous employees makes Grills one of my favorite Port Canaveral restaurants / bars. There's outside seating - either at their tiki hut style bar or at one of their many umbrella covered tables. On weekends there's live entertainment outside on the elevated patio deck with enough room for dancing for those who might wish to. Some of the bands I've heard are pretty good! The last time I was there I ordered their Clam Chowder. It was so thick it would actually hold up a spoon! It was fresh, hot, and delicious! It was the best Clam Chowder I've ever had! It just so happened that this was the day that Space-X sent the astronauts up to the Space Station, and Grills was crowded with people looking to view the launch. The launch went as planned but with overhead clouds we were only able to catch glimpses of it as it skirted through the clouds. Still, probably couldn't have asked for a better location. It's always fun to watch all the cruise ships and boats entering and leaving the Port. You can't go wrong here, give them a try.

Yelp
The best thing i can say about this place is they know how to handle and cook their fish. Very good, easily topped by the point that you can bring in the fresh cut fish filets from your deep sea fishing excursion. My group started our day doing such through Sunrise right across the street. After we were done, they said we could go here and they would cook our fresh catch. And they grilled those filets perfectly. Thats probably the best I can say other than cheap alcoholic drinks. Sandwich had too many condiments and couldn't taste the fish on it. Sides were just bagged chips, probably ruffles. And the server seemed like he was unsure about questions we had asked about the menu and stuff involving our fresh catch. And then the other servers talked very loud with each other that their PoS systems when there was probably 5 or 6 total tables in a mostly empty restaurant.

Yelp
This place was very nice and you can see all the water activities on the outside bar. I enjoyed the grilled fish of the day, very well seasoned and filling. The bartender made the best drinks & I had to cut myself off because I could keep drinking that sweet treat but she was friendly and bubbly.
google avatar

Yelp
I love Grills! I was there last week enjoying happy hour by the water. The service was great. The hostess Arianna was so nice and friendly!
google avatar

Ed S.

Yelp
Best views of the Port in a cool nautical themed restaurant. Service was perfect with the waiter anticipating our needs. We had the cranberry nut French toast and the big breakfast both were very good. May come back for dinner. Stay tuned.
google avatar

Yelp
I do think the food at Grill's is good, but I guess I had higher expectations being that we were in Florida. The shrimp were overcooked but seasoned well. My steak bites were chewy but enjoyable. Sitting outside does seem like the right idea, but definitely make sure you get some shade because that sun can be no joke when you're sitting still. Personally, I would advise dining inside. I wasn't too big of a fan of the service. Our server took our order, brought our food, then disappeared for quite a while. Looking around I didn't notice any staff walking around checking in on people. Refills and the check took a while to get.
google avatar

Kristin K.

Yelp
Service was fine but food was mediocre at best. Cool location on the water. I got the fish tacos with tuna and they were almost inedible. The tuna was SUPER fishy tasting and had this weird gristle on it that I couldn't chew. It came with rice and beans that were fine so that's what I ate.
google avatar

Gina N.

Yelp
Fun atmosphere. Lively. You get to see the ships. Portions are big and they have outside seating as well and plenty of parking

Yelp
Really great breakfast meal before boarding on my cruise! I'm from Los Angeles, so when I saw these prices I was so impressed because everything was so cheap and affordable. A meal for two ended up being around $30 which was GREAT! Serving sizes were good too! Service was great also and really enjoyed the view of the water from the outside patio. There were some mosquitoes out there soooo just be weary of that. Biscuits and Gravy w/ Side of Bacon ($7.49): 7/10, I've had better biscuits and gravy but this was still decent. I had a single biscuit and basically it was just 2 halves drenched in gravy. Cinnamon Roll Slam ($11.49): 8.5/10, the cinnamon roll was DELICIOUS

Yelp
Looking for a fish joint near my hotel and this place was walkable! Promptly seated near the water and ordered the fish of the day..mahi with the potatoes and garlic veggies. Fish was perfectly cooked and the sides were substantial and tasty. Good local beer selection to boot! Ambiance is rustic sea shanty, service was prompt and friendly, and prices were in line with this touristy area.

Yelp
On the water. Grills is a low down no judgments kinda place. Has beautiful views of the water live music and excellent food! At certain times you can catch one of the huge cruise ships strolling on bye for their voyage so be sure to wave "Bon voyage". We came on a Sat around 6pm which we were quoted over an hour and a half wait for a table. The outside area is first come first serve. After stocking the outside area, we were able to get a table fairly quickly however we found out that it was about a 30 minute wait so don't believe what you might be given. Food was fantastic and as the name describes, most of the food is grilled too perfect. My one complaint is that they allow smoking outside and many people do partake in this so if this is not your thing. Be sure to get a table inside.
google avatar

Jim B.

Yelp
I think the thing I like about grills location and atmosphere. The food is adequate good but not fantastic. I'm not sure if a lot of people know that but they're open for breakfast and for the port that's rare. They have plenty of smiling servers.
google avatar

Aimee B.

Yelp
Food was good. Rock shrimp was the best little appetizer I've never had. It's a seasonal thing that is a must try if it's available. Tasted like little lobsters. Service was fast and with a smile. Always makes the experience much better. Live music was playing and the outside deck was wonderful. We even saw dolphins playing and jumping! It was awesome. Good vibe but pricey. Its a place locals and cruisers come often. Worth a try if you are in the area.
google avatar

Jason B.

Yelp
absolutely incredible service here, we went out on a charter fishing trip and brought back tons of mackerel and this place cooked up about 7 pounds of it for us. Even though this place was very busy. It only took about 40 minutes to get in and be served. You just couldn't ask for a better place to enjoy dinner from the fresh catch that you just made that same day.
google avatar

Rudy T.

Yelp
Open early, we're absolutely thankful this was open as we were way too early to port. Food was solid with crispy hash browns and a true NY strip. Service was attentive and friendly. All in all, I highly recommend this place for breakfast, views, and convenience.
google avatar

Kristina M.

Yelp
The patio has nice water views with lPolynesian decor. The food and cocktails are good, nothing special but solid. There was live music which was very loud. We weren't expecting that. It made it very difficult to hold a conversation.
google avatar

Frank A.

Yelp
Nice view and service. Food and drinks are good. Smothered chicken yardbird was excellent!!!
google avatar

Simone S.

Yelp
We arrived and were seated right away for the rest of our party. Megan and Kasey came right over to take our drink orders while we waited. When the rest of the group came they quickly got them drinks over and Megan even engaged with the two younger guests in our party. We placed our food orders and those came out fairly quickly. Food was delicious, portions were good and overall the service was excellent. Ambience of the restaurant was cool, laid back with a definite beach vibe.
google avatar

Breanna H.

Yelp
The only negative thing I really have to say is that service took a bit to start when we were seated . We sat down before a couple of ladies and they were served first which okay, but then everyone else kinda just looked at us like we weren't their problem until a. Totally different waitress came to us. She was phenomenal. But you would think we could at least be greeted or told that your server would be right with you instead of being ignored. Again, I don't know if that's just not a common courtesy anymore, but it bugged me enough to knock down a star. When we did get our sever , everything was super quick. Beer was cold, the crab eggs Benedict was great , and being seated on the water was so nice. My friend and I had a great time here on a Saturday morning and it's one of the only places open early for the morning time.
google avatar

Stephen C.

Yelp
We got a new server. That's okay but she had to ask someone else any time I asked a question. She couldn't tell me who brewed the Florida lager (Carib). The place wasn't all that busy and the view was kind of industrial - not a beachy kind of waterfront. Food was on our table 5 minutes after ordering. Huh? How do you manage that? Cobia was tasty but obviously not cooked to order.
google avatar

Cheryl H.

Yelp
My breakfast was delicious! I had the seafood omelette without Hollandaise sauce, hash browns and tomatoes. They are very knowledgeable about gluten free options and if you go for lunch or dinner they have a separate gluten free menu. My husband doesn't have to be gluten free and he got the breakfast burrito and he loved it! Our waitress was fabulous and everyone who worked there was so friendly!
google avatar

Tom M.

Yelp
My son and I tried this place along with my sister and her family while in the area visiting. All of our meals were as expected. The setting by the water watching the cruise ships and ships out of port is really neat. Our staff was friendly and courteous. Our food came out at a very reasonable time frame with the large crowd they had. Will return next visit.
google avatar

Dawn N.

Yelp
Went her for lunch on a weekend and it was too busy during the early afternoon. We were immediately seated and service was quick. The staff is friendly and our server was very attentive. Their margaritas are strong! I had the mango and my friend had strawberry and neither disappointed. The food is decent. I had the chicken sandwich and she had the southwest salad (I think that's the name). It tasted like your typical chicken sandwich and southwest salad. The fries were really good but almost too salty. There was a live performer playing outside and that is where the majority of people were sitting. The vibe is nice pretty chill and welcome. I would return, especially for the drinks.

David S.

Yelp
Happy wife, happy life! My wife's favorite area restaurant. She loves the coconut shrimp and has been known to partake in a fruity cocktail every now and then, as well. Great ambiance, with charter boats cleaning their catch and feeding the pelicans who flock to the docks upon their return. Fun to watch the cruise ships sail by as well and wave to the passengers. Extensive menu with plenty of fresh catch options. A must try in Port Canaveral.
google avatar

Larry V.

Yelp
I love this place. When I'm in Florida once a year with my buddies, this is our first night place. Tradition demands it, and the top notch food, service and atmosphere make it an easy choice. But beware. Outdoor seating is nice, but comes with the danger of bird flyovers and their poop.
google avatar

Michael J.

Yelp
Bringing my review down a bit due to my attempted dinner which included rock shrimp. Although the bacon wrapped scallops were fantastic and... my breakfast there earlier was fantastic, the old, stale, cold rock shrimp ruined my normally rave reviews of this place. I've been going here for over 2 decades so it hurts my heart a bit to lower the stars but I know they can do better. Their staff is absolutely amazing though. Always friendly and always respectful. Love them. The setting here is still perfect, right on the water with boats and ships passing by. I'll come back as I know what they are capable of.
google avatar

Nanami N.

Yelp
Took my brother out for a nice lunch on a weekend, and overall, the food was a hit--except for the coconut shrimp, which tasted like it moonlighted as a dessert Everything else? Delicious! The real plot twist, though, was our server. She had the urgency of a Black Friday shopper, checking in so often we felt like we were on a speed-eating challenge Less than 30 minutes in, and we were already getting the "shouldn't you be gone by now?" stare. A little awkward, to say the least. Would we come back? Maybe--but only if we could dine at our own pace without the side of subtle eviction energy.

Larry O.

Yelp
Went for dinner with the family while on vacation. Food was great and the atmosphere was really nice. I enjoyed my fish tacos and white sangria. Service was friendly and attentive.

Marie M.

Yelp
We went with family and there were plenty of choices for all. The oysters were excellent
google avatar

Raymond F.

Yelp
Enjoyed dinner with the family the place had a great ambiance, delicious food, strong drinks, good service and the bill didn't break the bank I'd call that a win in my book.
google avatar

Cristin G.

Yelp
Location, food and service are all and A+++! We live out of town and my husband and sister crave the Tahitian potatoes. The grilled chicken and tenderloin kabobs were tender and delicious and our server Colby was incredible. If you have any FOOD ALLERGIES beware the steamed veggies. Nothing on the menu indicates or lead me to assume that there were sesame seeds mixed in, and unfortunately I found out the hard way after eating some. I would have given a 5 star rating if not for the bad reaction I had to the veggies.

Kimberly F.

Yelp
I just don't understand why I can't cooked potatoes and a well done burger. I love the food here usually but the last 3 times it's not been great. I wait 30 or 40 minutes to sit which I don't mind . So don't rush my food cook it I'll gladly wait the extra time.

Gordon G.

Yelp
Thanks all at Grills restaurant especially Cole for a marvellous experience. Your vegan burgers are the best Your prices are very modest. Please keep up the great work
google avatar

Brenda J.

Yelp
This restaurant has great views of Port Canaveral and a steady stream of customers. It also has a great outdoor patio to enjoy your meal. We stopped here for a bite before boarding our cruise. I had the shrimp cuban that looked interesting. The cuban had a spicy sauce, some chopped shrimp, along with the traditional meats. The sandwich had potential, but it was not served as hot as I would like, and it was cooked on a dirty grill. There was a lot of burnt grill residue on the back off my sandwich that I had to peel off or eat around. Hubby had the shrimp appetizer that he enjoyed. I'm not sure I would return given how they presented the sandwich. The staff was very friendly and courteous.

Patrick C.

Yelp
Good food and a lot of it we did not expect the amount of food and quality that we received.
google avatar

Jewel E.

Yelp
I went with a group to grills for lunch. The servers did a good job. I ordered the grilled shrimp which was served with two sides, I chose the wild rice and the vegetables. The flavor was good. Everyone in the group seemed to enjoy their meal. Being on the water was pleasant and you can watch the cruise ships.
google avatar

Justin M.

Yelp
Normally wouldn't recommend wings at a seafood joint, but they're some of the best at grills! The flavor is like no other and the ranch is great.
google avatar

Amber D.

Yelp
Very, very, good food!! I had the surf n' turf and it was the best! The lobster tail was out of this world and the steak was cooked to perfection, as well as everything else on my plate. And the service was outstanding! Not only was our waitress the best ever, everyone else, including the bartenders were very polite and curtious! I actually had to go to the restroom but I had my leftovers and a waiter offered to hold my food while I went in. I came out and he had the leftovers in a bag, standing there and waiting for me. AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE! I will definitely be coming back here for special occasions or when I'm in that area again!
google avatar

Cortney J.

Yelp
This place has really gone downhill in recent years, I used to love coming to eat at Grills but it's missed the mark one too many times. Price increases, controversial practices, and inconsistency in the food has driven me away from this establishment. We loved the shrimp Cuban but whyyyy do they insist on making you get the chips and then charging way too much for fries? A 16$ sandwich is now 20$ and I'm wasting food... I can't stand wasting unnecessarily. The sandwich is also inconsistent in its portion sizing as well... I usually get the ahi tuna but it has been inconsistent in portion sizing, sometimes I feel like I'm getting a fair portion and other times it's so think it could compete with paper.. not to mention there was a time I was served bad tuna... listen you KNOW when it's bad. I tried to dismiss it as even the best of places can mess up but when it comes to a place serving "fresh" seafood, it's difficult to overlook. Anyway, their tuna isn't the freshest nor best, I can find similar at other places.
google avatar

Brenna L.

Yelp
Food is always great and fast once you are seated! We always try to eat outside, I love watching all the boats and the water is pretty. I usually order the fish of the day, I really like the buttery marinade they use on it! My go to sides are the tiki taters and the glazed carrots!
google avatar

Jary J.

Yelp
This place has to potential to be a fun experience. But, the outside seating is first come first serve - what is someone supposed to do, hover over the other patrons? The inside is nice. The food is very good and the service and people are great. I had the fresh cobia - wonderful. My wife had the fresh yellow fin tuna seared, and that was great too. Just fix the "fight for a table outside " and I would give 5 stars
google avatar

Marissa L.

Yelp
Loved the vibe of this place. Outside seating was first come first serve and it was packed so we ate inside but loved the tiki bar. Food was plentiful and good. He the bowl of New England clam chowder and couldn't finish it. Would have liked to try the drinks but was saving the drinks for our cruise.
google avatar

Nina T.

Yelp
Overall this restaurant is decent. Sign up VIP on their website to get a free shrimp appetizer ($12.99) or less, we had the cheese stuffed shrimp which were EH... maybe try something else. We ordered the New England clam Chowder which was a hit with my picky 8 year old! The fish tacos were amazing and definitely recommend. Beef ribs were pretty good and to top it off they have self serve frozen yogurt. Unfortunately their KEY LIME PIE is from NEW Jersey!!!
google avatar

Hailey H.

Yelp
The food speaks for itself AMAZING!! Flavorful fish, and when they say spicy they mean it. Which I absolutely love, Our waitress sloane was so sweet- she did all of our modifications with ease. The ambiance is small town and friendly definitely recommend. Nice families all around and right on the water.

Logan T.

Yelp
Long serves the soda taste interesting and the environment was pretty cool looking the shrimp was chewy though but a cool place to go to
google avatar

Yelp
We were on a cruise that stopped at Port Canaveral for the day and came here for dinner. This was exactly what we were looking for! We were a party of 7 and were seated immediately inside. There's also plenty of seating outdoors that is self seating. For appetizers we got the rock shrimp, which was like eating tiny little lobsters! Our waitress recommended getting these. I also got the bowl of clam chowder which was HUGE and yummy. For mains I got the grilled fish of the day, and I chose yellowfin tuna. They ask you what temp you prefer and I got it seared, leaving it rare in the middle. I chose the coconut sticky rice and carrots as my side. This was so delicious! The fish was perfectly grilled and tasted so fresh, and the sides paired so great with it. My boyfriend's taco dinner with mahi mahi was also delicious and a very generous portion. Our waitress was so kind and patient with our large group. Would highly recommend coming here!
google avatar

Kayla J.

Yelp
The patio is a lovely atmosphere, the live music is fantastic. I tried the grilled shark kabobs which was my first time having shark, it was extremely fresh (they only serve it if it was caught the day before so it's not always available) I also had the bacon wrapped scallops which were decent. They don't serve fried fish, everything is fresh caught and served fresh. The patio is on the water and it's a great place to spend the afternoon. Beware most of the drinks are quite sweet so if that's not your style choose wisely.
