"The local chain has expanded in recent years, but the original grungy downtown locale is where clubbers and late-night revelers get their drunk-food fix. Sure, it has Mexican street tacos with a choice of chicken, beef, or roasted pork on a corn tortilla, but the sloppy taco with ground beef lathered in cheese inside a flour tortilla makes the ideal meal to soak up the excess alcohol. It’s open until 3 a.m. too." - Faiyaz Kara

Ordered on Uber and my was food was not good. I ordered a 16$ meat queso/chip combo and a 9$ quac/chip combo. Missing 1 of 2 bag of chips, the 4 “my tacos” were missing the cheese sour cream tomato’s and onions. Tacos fell into pieces when I pick them up. Tried to call the location twice and get a VM. 60$ for this mess makes me very unhappy

I had drunken nachos. The portion size is enough for 2 to 3 people. Really delicious food. During Happy Hour beer is between $1.70 and $2.50. The employees were very nice and helpful. The bathroom is tiny.

Two yrs later and still theeee worse service I’ve ever experienced! I get it you deal with drunk people but no one knows what’s going on and they are all completely rude ! The food is mediocre and overrated. Literally the only reason ppl eat here is because of the limited food options for downtown Orlando. Do not eat here !!! You’ll have the runs in the morning

Came here late night after hitting a few bars with the guys and it awesome! I heard a few people talking about this place, so I had to check it out. The food was good and the atmosphere was really decorative. The wait and cleanliness of the restaurant was a lil subpar 🤷🏻, but it was a Friday night. Would still come back to this place!

Excellent food and even better prices. Portions are definitely filling. The catfish and grits was great. Our server was really friendly and attentive and our meals were served to us fairly quickly.

Gringos Locos is legendary amongst the downtown crowd. It was floated as an idea every time my class would go downtown. We went once, but it was in 2015, so I don't remember anything about that trip except that it was delicious. Fast forward to six years later. I'm now an adult, three years into my career, and I'm on the hunt for the best food in Orlando, always. Well, according to the lovely readers of Orlando Weekly, Gringos Locos has this year's best nachos in town. Nacho making, as we all know, is an art form. Their quality varies greatly depending on how skillfully you build them. I took a small break from Immerse 2021 and stopped in. There was a substantial, which is a side effect of being amazing, so plan/order ahead if you're wanting to get in and out of this place in a hurry. When I got to the front of the line, I ordered the Drunk Nachos (Tortilla Chips Layered with Everything). They mean literally everything. Check the photo to see this titan. Chicken, beef, pork, brisket, beans, cheese, onions, tomatoes, olives, lettuce, guac, sour cream, I've honestly lost memory of what all was on this thing. Just be ready to have every nacho itch of yours scratched. AND, the layer effectively. Chips, toppings, chips, toppings, top toppings (like guac and sour cream). This was a delight. The chips were super crispy, not too thick not too thin. Plenty of each kind of meat. I hope you're sharing this. And it comes at a really great price. This place hasn't suffered inflated prices from an inflated ego. Overall, I can see why this place has gained legendary status, and I will be coming back, often.

Google
The food was great but the security is terrible. We dined in yesterday only for the security guy to allow an immature boy come back in twice to antagonize my party and spit at us. I will not be returning because that is unacceptable.

Google
Hands-down, the DD is the greatest taco of all time. This is absolutely the best location!!!! Every other one I go to there’s some attitude from the employees but the one at the UCF always has good tacos too. Oh yeah and their chips and queso are as good as anyone else’s too!

Emily B.

Yelp
We have always enjoyed this location! The perfect spot for a late night snack or afternoon lunch. The pricing is fair and the portions are good! We noticed more recently that this location now has screens where you can order, which makes ordering a lot easier!! The only downside is parking, but that's with any restaurant downtown. It's not terrible but also not free or easy. We definitely will be back in the future!

Yelp
After a fun corporate 5k race in Lake Eola, we were looking for a quick bite to eat that wouldn't take too long to wait. One of my colleagues suggested Grincos Locos, which was a short walk from that park. We walked over there and were greeted by a small line. Ordering was done through a kiosk, so I ordered the fish tacos (12 dollars). I paid using my phone and waited for my order. It was a bit crowded from the race, but my colleagues were able to find a small table. After about 10 minutes, my name was called. I picked up the tacos and sat with my colleagues at the small table. When I opened the carton, I saw two small fish tacos. I tried to wrap them, but the ingredients fell apart a bit. The fish was fine and had some lettuce and tomato for the vegetables, but it was missing salsa or sauce. Thus, I found them a bit bland. When I asked for hot sauce, I was given two. I believe that sauce was habanero as it did add some fire and make me sweat. Even though it was spicy, I did enjoy it. I ate both tacos and they were alright, but I didn't feel full after eating both. The service was basic, but friendly enough. You ordered through the computer, and they call your name, then hand you the food. They were polite when calling the names and helpful when any requests were given. But this was a counter service restaurant, and you had to empty the items yourself when you were done. The seating was limited, so it was a bit difficult to find a table, especially during a crowded event. The crowd wasn't too loud and typical gringo music was in the background. Grincos locos have decent tacos, but after 12 dollars for two small fish tacos in a counter service restaurant, I felt it wasn't worth it. When I could go to table service restaurants like Bartaco for better flavor, or Barrio for a bigger portion at even lower prices, I just thought Grincos didn't make the cut. Even the kiosk asked if I wanted to add a tip (because of the tipping culture?). I am giving it a three out of five because the tacos were still alright, but there are better places for tacos at a cheaper price.

Yelp
Late night eats for the win!!! This spot will hit the spot if you're in the area. The double d's are very unique and I recommend. It's a taco in both a hard and soft shell. Mixing the textures of both shell's took this taco to new heights! And the fillings were fresh; the meat, cheese and veggies! I got a side of chips and queso and it did not disappoint. Try this next time you're downtown. The only down side is I had a coupon from Yelp and they did not honor it :(

Mary I.

Yelp
Lady who answered the phone was great and helpful my nachos came out great! Cheese and beef is was so good tasting

Yelp
I stopped in to Gringos Locos for a quick bite after seeing a concert at the Beacham in downtown Orlando back in October 2023. I have to give this place credit because there were a ton of people at this concert and a bunch of them came here for a meal after the show which ended around 11pm on a Monday night. Basically, you decide what you want to order, place your order via a touch screen kiosk at the main counter, pick a seat (if you can find one), when a staff member calls out your name, return to the counter to pick up your meal. I ordered the Drunk Gringo ($15), which is a burrito stuffed with rice, all proteins, beans, Queso, and Salsa Verde. Overall, the burrito was excellent; however, not nearly as large as I expected for $15, but what can I say, I was hangry and needed something before heading home. My brother-in-law ordered the Drunk Nachos. I have no idea what he paid for them, but his portion size was enormous, leaving him with some leftovers. He said his meal was good too. Although my burrito was a bit on the pricy side, I would return here if I am at a future event near this store.

Kathy R.

Yelp
The place was pretty busy, but they moved pretty quick and the food was made to order. My husband had the double D's tacos and they were amazing. I had the chicken street tacos and they fell short. It wasn't enough flavor and was missing the wow factor, but with that being said they do have plenty of other items on the menu I would probably try if I came to downtown again. They did not have alot of seating and we had to stand and eat. Something to note they do have a happy hour daily.

Taylor W.

Yelp
Love this location more and more now. I didn't for a long time and would make sure to go to eat Robinson instead, but the food has come out better here recently. The person at the register is always pleasant and the atmosphere is very laid back and chill. I'll continue to come here as long as they keep the same energy. Haha

Dani B.

Yelp
Stopped in for a bite before the soccer game. I ordered a taco bowl with chicken and black beans. The rice on the bottom was par cooked and the chicken...was questionable. I had a hard time figuring out if it was chop meat of actual chicken. I should have just got beans and called it a day. The shell was the best part. The soda machine was one of those fun dispensers but it was out of the majority of the syrups. The food came out pretty quick and it was decently clean. The bathroom was

Yelp
My partner and I went to Gringos for our first date a year ago, and we decided to visit this location to be nostalgic and celebrate our one year anniversary tonight. The ambiance of the restaurant is really nice and energetic and it was great to find a good quality food place open so late that wasn't "fast food". Love that they added the kiosks for ordering; makes everything a little easier! However, a couple of things were disappointing about this trip to Gringos. One of the servers argued that I didn't order what I ordered and paid for, which was weird, and then later corrected herself after she checked my order receipt. And when we received the food, the quality wasn't the same as we remembered. We both ordered burritos and they were very soggy, to the point where they were disintegrating in our hands. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE a wet burrito. I love a saucy burrito, I love a lot of ingredients, I really enjoy that kind of burrito. But these were very soggy and did not hold up in the 20 mins we had them. I couldnt finish my food and had to get a box; when I got home and went to finish my food, the tortilla of my burrito was practically nonexistent. I wanted to say this restaurant is still one of my faves, but it's hit or miss. Our first experience was exceptional and some of the best tacos I've ever had, and this experience was so disappointing in comparison.

Aflo F.

Yelp
I was eager to enjoy this restaurant, renowned for its traditional tacos. The dine-in space is cozy, with just about six tables. Our order included Chips & Guac, Beef Empanadas, Street Tacos, and Sloppy Tacos. The tacos, true to their reputation, were delightful, as were the beef empanadas. However, the Chips and Guac were disappointing. The guacamole, as evident in the attached photo, appeared old and unappetizing. Also, the restroom facilities were in a poor state and need immediate attention. Despite the delicious tacos, we are uncertain about returning due to these drawbacks.

Jose C.

Yelp
I'm honestly confused as why this place is so popular. It was filled the line was long when we arrived and still long after we were done. The customer service was great, and the food was fairly cheap. But what's important here, is that the food taste great. And it unfortunately didn't. Now I appreciate the name. Especially the "gringos" part. Because that is exactly what this place is catering to. And they're not lying about it. The tacos were bland. We ordered a chicken taco, roasted pork taco, and a ground beef taco as well as a double decker taco. They were all flavorless, and not very filling. Where's the limon? And when I asked for hot sauce I got Louisiana hot sauce. We also ordered a side of chips and queso. These were good, but a very small portioning. I would say Taco Bell has better tasting food these crazy gringos. I definitely won't be returning.

Lexi S.

Yelp
The food here was so yummy! The double D tacos were incredible and I will definitely be going back for more. I didn't interact with the staff much, you order through the touch screens and then they call out your name when it's ready. There are not many chairs and tables, so I would avoid on busy nights unless you're getting Togo!

Kennisha J.

Yelp
I stopped by for takeout for my husband's Father's Day lunch. I needed help checking out, and Nate was glad to help me. I ended up having to go to the register for more help to use my husbands reward points. I was in the store for quite a while, but Nate had no problem helping me. He was nice and knowledgeable. This is my husband's favorite Gringos, and now I see why. The food is great and the staff is even better! Nate and Kymari were a huge help! I'll definitely be back!!

Shannon T.

Yelp
This is a great late night spot to go after a night out. The food is really good--be warned, the line can get very long late night--Not really a fan of the ground beef, it had a sweetness to it that I don't care for.

Craig L.

Yelp
I hear about this place in the radio all the time while listening to talk show on Real Radio 104.1. I had a little time before A 2pm appointment t, so I finally decided to give it a try. Turned out I had been here before years ago and had forgotten. I ordered empanada (chicken, beef) and Double D tacos all the way (chicken, beef). Tacos were good, but the empanadas were fantastic! Nice litt spot. Ample seating for the lunch crowd, but the late night crowd, for which this place was born, probably is doing a lot of standing and take out. I've heard the line is out the door at night. At lunch the service was quick, friendly, efficient. Empanadas were fantastic!!!!

Patricia R.

Yelp
The tacos were absolutely AMAZING! Service was absolutely amazing and fast! The tacos tasted super fresh and definitely worth it! If you are in the Orlando area you need to pass by this establishment and have some tacos! The ambiance was definitely a vibe of entertainment and fun! Good music!

Joshua P.

Yelp
Love the double D taco's. Gets crazy on the weekends but they manage it well. Good service overall

Liana W.

Yelp
When you're looking for a late night bite after an evening out, this hits the mark. Beef Double D Tacos are always a win.

Kendall F.

Yelp
This entire review is based on "service" This establishment used to take their ordered as ordered. It's not like like that anymore. You wait in line and order at the register. Then you wait 20+ minutes for your food. It wasn't ever like this. It was a well oiled machine. Idk what happened, but this isn't it.

Katie S.

Yelp
I hadn't been to Gringos in over two years because I didn't care for it much then. I tried it again today with some coworkers and I have to say, I won't be back. Their queso is sweet and isn't what you would expect out of a queso. It's an odd consistency and makes you sick if you eat too much. A lot of their food is very greasy and has resulted in me having acid reflux all day (could be a personal problem) but I don't normally get acid reflux. They also took away ordering at the counter for glitchy computer screens that take so long to account for where you're tapping. It then asks for tip - for who? I just placed the order myself and am waiting at the counter for my food to be ready. There are more than fifty taco restaurants in Orlando, I recommend Tin & Taco down the street.

Brooks D.

Yelp
Everything Taco Bell wishes it was. Good food, good service, amazing taste, can't go wrong

Nitika G.

Yelp
I had the guaco taco with chicken and added mild sauce and it was amazing! The crunch of the taco and the flavor of the chicken really hit the spot. The service was really fast as well but sometimes the line can get long since a lot of people go at night. Gringos has high seating that can be limited at times. But they do clean the table as often as they can and it is a fun place to hang out and eat with friends.

A. C.

Yelp
(6/9/2023) we're going through a taco challenge with the places downtown. Got a burrito this time from Gringos Locos. I wasn't a fan of the Double D's, although I hear it's their most popular. The Una Noche with chicken and scrambled egg was surprisingly way better than I expected. Def add jalapeños and all the fixings. The chicken and rice were seasoned pretty well. Solid place downtown.

Carlton H.

Yelp
Old school vibe dinner. Harder working loyal servers. Very attentive and engaging. The cheeseburger wrap was very good. Not bells or whistles just simple classic flavor. Warning: it was a bit greasy, but it just hit the spot.

Yanin H.

Yelp
The best after drinking late at night food in downtown Orlando! Yummy! Who doesn't love Mexican food.

Leah S.

Yelp
We were looking for a casual bite to eat for lunch and decided to stop into Gringos Locos downtown. We were bummed to be told they had discontinued their sangria despite it being advertised on their window as well as online. We found the chips to be dry and stale, but the portion size was very large. The trio of dips were all average at best, with the guacamole resembling the packages I buy at costco. The salsa was watery with minimal flavor. We ordered a Guaco Taco and a Double Ds taco to sample... we loved the ideas of both tacos but also found both were average at best. Our favorite part of the meal was the lean green burrito; we found it to be well constructed with a great blend of fillings. Service was fast. We noticed that to go orders were just as popular as dining in. Overall, Gringos Locos fell short of our expectations as we were hoping our meal would be something unique when visiting from out of town.

Yelp
Service was top notch. This is a taco place where you place your order on a station. I was on a self taco crawl. Had the guaco taco which is a crunchy tortilla inside a soft tortilla with the usual toppings. It was very fresh and flavorful. Had a High Noon drink. Yumm.

Vanessa G.

Yelp
Love this place so much. Definitely a place I go when its lunch time. I don't like paying $4 for a DD but in the end its better getting 2 fulfilling tacos and paying $8 than going to a near by competitor and paying more for less. All the workers there are excellent and provide the best customer service and for that I thank y'all.

Leanna D.

Yelp
This is literally my favorite place to grab a late night bite when I'm downtown! Went last night after a show and there was nobody there, so we got our food quick. The double d tacos are so good and such a good price.

Truth B.

Yelp
The staff is nice the location is very nice and clean but I am writing this while still inside in hopes no one makes the same mistake I made . I paid 76.00 for TACO BELL quality food .. ground beef tacos that taste like mush .. this is not Mexican food so don't expect it to be its school slop in a nice downtown location .. stay away save your money !!! Do not believe best taco award .

Walter C.

Yelp
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! Idk how this place has 4 stars when it literally deserves ZERO stars. This establishment was one of the DIRTIEST, most UNSANITARY places I've been to in my life. It was basically a waste of $20 because we didn't even eat the food. That's how bad it was. 1. We stopped here around 1:30am because it was literally the only place open nearby. The first thing my wife and I noticed was that a young girl who was handling the tortillas, was also handling the money and taking orders from customers. She DID NOT TAKE OFF HER GLOVES, during cash transactions with customers. she'd USE THE SAME EXACT GLOVES, she touched the money with, to make the tortillas. 2. These girls who were running the restaurant at that time were waaaaaaay too young and careless. Clearly didn't want to be there, and they weren't very conscious of what they were doing or of the energy they were putting into the food. Not only were they extremely unsanitary, when handling the food; but they also forgot an ENTIRE ORDER of tacos we paid for because they were yapping the whole time while non-chalantly making our meals. So we literally got jipped for a WHOLE ORDER of tacos, simply because the girls were talking and playing around the whole time instead of staying focused on making the food and making sure everything was in the bag. (I want my money back) I get nauseous just thinking about the experience. We ended up deeming the food INEDIBLE and decided to call it a night with some leftover Jerky. It wasn't worth the risk of getting food poisoning on vacation. I took a little nibble of the taco and immediately got a stomach ache. If this place was to get inspected right now, they'd FAIL horribly!!! Lesson learned: don't eat out after 10pm...& Do NOT trust every 4 star place on Yelp. Especially in touristy areas where non foodies give literally ANYTHING 5 stars smh. The rating was misleading as heck & I want my money back!!!!!!!

Jared T.

Yelp
Not into it. The food isn't that good. But if you are drunk it'll kinda fill you up and maybe you won't puke ‍. Food is relatively cheap. Came in and asked for the recommended nachos. She recommended the OG nachos which I said OK to. The order came out relatively fast and the nachos were pretty basic. 3/10. And they gave way too much pico to Gallo to chip ratio. The meat was sparse, but tender. I also ordered two tacos. One chicken one pork. both were pretty generic 2/10.

Bob H.

Yelp
It was good fast service nice workers good hot sauce selection. Chimichanga was very good

Johanny L.

Yelp
Servers are very kind but the food is terrible. I don't understand how it is so highly reviewed. Taco Bell is probably better. Chicken taco was okay but beef and fish tacos were inedible.the absolute worst tacos you could every have. Would only be tasty if you are VERY drunk

Iyana M.

Yelp
My go to spot when I'm downtown and craving tacos! Do yourself a favor and get some Double Ds tacos and their famous queso! You will not be disappointed

Delanee B.

Yelp
This place always hits the spot especially after a night of drinking. I'm a huge fan of the Double D's tacos (cmon a soft tortilla mixed with a hard shell?! Genius!) but I tried the el burro which has pork, rice, cream cheese, and queso which is amazing. I added in guac and jalapeños and that was the best addition. It will be hard to chose from one or the other next time! The service is friendly and the food comes out super fast. It's always crowded but you never seem to have to wait that long no matter what. I will definitely be back!

Sharone B.

Yelp
Food was good!! The service was amazing! They are a really special kind group of workers! They definitely made my day and a loyal customer out of me today!

Kevin W.

Yelp
Not good anymore! I haven't been here in a few years, so I was hoping it would still be the same, but it's not. There are no prices for anything anywhere. The order taker was rude and had lots of attitude, when I was checking out they tried to add extras I didn't order and argued that I did. All I ordered was 3 tacos and a drink, but argued that I ordered drunken nachos. The service is terrible, slow and there are so many people working standing around. The limes were rotten and disgusting, the tacos bland and shells stiff and tough. The only saving grace and why I gave 2 stars is do to the cleanliness and nice interior. I'm sad to see this place go downhill, if the owner ends up reading this, you should be ashamed to have let your brand and reputation fall so far.

Anthony M.

Yelp
The name says it all!!! If you want generic tacos that are WAY overpriced then come here for sure. Not even sure how this business is open.

Cailey R.

Yelp
I am obsessed with gringos!! The food is so good. Service is nothing to rave about but it's a fast food restaurant. Every time I'm downtown I come here. The mouth hugger and the double D's are the way to go!!

Cissy W.

Yelp
Add me to the list of loyal Gringos Locos fans! We stopped by and got takeout. The staff is great, professional, efficient, and yes, they are enforcing masks protocol. On recommendation of our hosts, we ordered the Double D tacos. If you haven't had one, just trust me, order it! One tortilla spread with queso, that wraps around the crunchy tortilla holding the taco. It makes a taste sensation in which you taste the crunch, but it doesn't fall apart on you. Genius! I had Roasted Pork in the Double D. I chose Chicken for the Guaco Taco which is the same idea but the outer tortilla is spread with Guacamole instead. Again, what a great idea! I wish I was closer and I would certainly be a regular!

Adam R.

Yelp
I've been in once, and... I'm not sure we'll ever be back. As said, this is a crazy white boy food (I'm semi joking, but not) the flavors were not good, as I got the nachos, and my wife got the tacos, with the food not properly salted, and really not much flavor. The cost... wow, definitely not paying in pesos. Usually tacos are 2, I believe the happy hour I was spending $4 plus per, and the staff was upset I gave a 10% tip. Why did I get 10%? First, I'm picking up... second, the guy messed up my order twice, by putting pork in, when I said.. no pork, I can't eat it. When I got home, I noticed the nachos and the paper tasted basically the same.. so unfortunately I had to throw out the food. To avoid the smell, I took out the trash immediately. Will not be here again.

Danielle Y.

Yelp
A nice little spot downtown at the center of Orlando. The rice felt under cooked and wasn't as good as we expected. The happy hour prices are amazing and burritos are only $6. The enchiladas was just alright, soggy overall. I mean overall it's okay. Maybe other ones will be better.

Susan R.

Yelp
I really hate to give negative reviews, but my experience last week is definitely not deserving of a good review. I had set up some catering over a month ago for a corporate open house for my company. My initial invoice for the event, which was over $1000, showed the wrong time. I asked for it to be corrected and it was and I was sent over a new invoice with the correct time which was 3:45 PM. On the day of my event by 4:15 PM they had not yet arrived. I looked at my emails from the person that was handling the catering and there was no phone number. I contacted the local store who told me that they did not do the catering there, and they gave me a phone number which I called. That first phone call went to voicemail and it gave me a second number for emergencies which I called and that also went to voicemail and I left a voicemail. I then called back the store and told them that I realized that they did not do the catering, but I really needed to get a hold of somebody so they got me a manager. While I was explaining the story to the manager, I had another call and it was from the catering service. He apologized and said that there was a miscommunication on the time of arrival and that they were on the way and my order should be there by 4:45 at the latest. At 4:55 they were still not there and I called back again. Then I was told they were looking for parking. I had already let them know the previous week when I emailed to confirm our catering order that we had reserved metered parking in front of our building for all vendors to be able to park and not have to look for parking, which obviously was not communicated to this driver. At this time it was already 5:15 and I already had guests arriving and there was only one person to unload all the food which took over 30 minutes of going back-and-forth in between our clients. All my other vendors arrived early or on time, and it was very disappointing and embarrassing to have the situation. I was told it was completely their fault for the miscommunication and offered a discount on our next order. There was absolutely no follow up the next day and it was just an overall very disappointing experience. The food was good, which was why I gave two stars but the service was not good at all.

Yelp
Very Yummy tacos and burritos, the service was okay, ambiance typical for that type of venue.

Yelp
We walked in here off the street. The food was amazing. We had chimichanga, Drunk Gringo Burrito, Fish Tacos, Street Taco and it was all amaaaaaazing!!! It's says they have the best tacos in Orlando and it's true The place looks dingy and they have several screens lined up to order that don't work but who cares! The staff was courteous and the music was good also. Going back for sure!!

Coolmm ..

Yelp
The staff were amazing, very attentive and answered all questions. The food was absolute trash, didn't smell or taste good at all. We had the chicken street tacos, even the lime couldn't cover the taste and make it edible. We went about 6pm on a Saturday and the place was dead, only went once and will not return.

Yelp
The food is good. The cashier there tonight is SUPER RUDE, nonchalant and can care less about customer service. Visited this establishment several times and never been treated so poorly until tonight.
