Gringo's Mexican Kitchen {College Station}

We dined at Gringo’s in College Station and had a wonderful experience. The food and service were exceptional. The chips, hot queso, and their new Hatch Chile Quesadilla were absolutely delicious. Our server was attentive, friendly, and provided outstanding service throughout. The facility is warm and inviting, offering great complimentary ice cream that adds a sweet finishing touch. Overall, it was a delightful and memorable dining experience.

A TAMU/College Station institution. Came here in college and it’s still my go-to spot after games. Gringo’s is easily the best Tex-Mex in CStat — nothing else even comes close in my opinion. Our server was wonderful and incredibly kind, especially with me being on crutches. True hospitality, the kind that reminds you why this place has such a loyal following in the area. I also loved hate-watching the tu game with a bunch of other Ags after ours wrapped up — post game energy was great. If you’ve never been, go! I wish we had one in Austin!

Had an awesome experience at Gringo's College Station! Came in for a late lunch, and was seated almost instantly. Had great service, and got refills for chips and salsa. The food portions were generous, and there were many delicious dips and sauces included with the food. Greatly appreciated that they did not skimp on avocado. After our outstanding meal, we were pleasantly greeted by their free soft serve machine with vanilla, chocolate, and a swirl of both available for no additional charge. Overall great experience, would recommend to anyone in the area!

We were seated super quickly. The server was just not very good—I had to ask for silver ware 3x and she added food we didn’t even order. No one ever refilled our chips and salsa. But the food was good and the margarita tasted fresh. The inside of the restaurant was super cute and clean. Nice to get free ice cream at end.

The food was amazing! It tasted fresh and homemade. Service was great! I wish there was a location in Missouri where I live, I would eat there all the time!

January 2025 Great vibe and exciting family atmosphere. Good food presentation. Unfortunately, taste and flavor wasn’t there. Our serve did a great job. Very attentive and courteous, great job recommending products. Free ice cream is very tactical and strategic move to win customers. Good job! My rating as 5 is very satisfied Taste 3/5 Attentive and courteous 5/5 Cleanliness 5/5 Speed of service 5/5. Will I recommend? Yes. Will I return? No sure.

We had such a great experience at Gringo’s in College Station, thanks to our wonderful server Jackie. We came in as a group of seven, and she took care of all of us so well. She was kind, patient, and super responsive the whole time. She made great recommendations too— my brothers really liked the beef bowl, and I loved the Cabo Salad. EVERYONE loved the Cadillac margarita. Even with a big group, Jackie made everything feel easy and smooth. You could tell she really cared and wanted everyone to enjoy their meal. We all left happy and can’t wait to come back. Thank you, Jackie!

Food is tex mex so its really Mexican food for gringos like it says . 🍹 drinks are delicious and the salsa is good. Not too loud and environment is nice during the evening with many tvs at bar.

My family took us to eat at Gringo's Mexican Kitchen, saying it was the best Mexican Food in B/CS and their favorite. Despite there being 7 of us, we were seated quickly. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and has an upbeat vibe. The patio is welcoming and the bar looks fun and inviting. The service was great and our server was attentive throughout. The only reason I didn't give 5-stars, was that I just not crazy about Tex-Mex Mexican food. That's not the restaurant's fault. A lot of people do. And to be fair, it is called Gringos Tex-Mex. I don't much care for queso on tostada's or enchilada's. My preference is New Mexico style with fresh made enchilada sauce and hatch chili's. That said, what gringo's did, they did well. I had a tostada and taco. I thought the taco was good. The tostada was different to me. There was a very thin layer of beans on the tostada, seasoned with what tasted like taco meat seasoning. I didn't care for that very much. Also there was a lot of of lettuce on the tostada. Too much to eat. The Fajita bowl was good and worth ordering again. I like the way it was smothered in real (not processed) cheese. The bottom line is that Gringo's is a fun place to dine with friends. The atmosphere is awesome and the service is good. If you like Tex-Mex style Mexican food (which most do in the neck of the woods), then your experience will probably be 5-Star.

Waitstaff are all great. Ambiance is also so nice. Customers are friendly, etc. Food is only OK. Only, OK. After membership finishes I will be not renewing. Love the softservice ice cream served after dinner. Ideal treat...

Food is always delicious and fresh every time. The service is fast and the staff is extremely attentive, personable, and they are willing to accommodate my dietary restrictions. Ambience is very fun and almost like you're at a cruise ship. They provide free ice cream as well! Great place to take someone on a date.

Stopped off for lunch on the way to Galveston. Got seated right away and our server was right at the table. The atmosphere was very electric and somewhat loud, but not too bad. The food came out quick and was hot and very tasty. Again our server was right there whenever we needed anything. Very good experience. Definitely recommend.

Gringos is a great choice for Tex Mex style food! There is great portion sizes and plenty of flavor. Free ice cream was a nice bonus!! Ambiance: Lots of different type of seating from booths to table and chairs. There was medium lighting during dinner time. There is a louder noise level. There is plenty of seating so the wait time isn't long. Service: The service is great here compared to other restaurants in College Station. The server was very attentive and accommodating. He continuously checked on our table and our drinks were never empty! Chicken Breast fajitas: The portion was good! The meat was soooo juicy and flavorful. The dish is really simple as it only comes on a bed of onions. The dish came with a side of cheese, pico, and some guac. The dish also came with rice which was alright and beans. The chicken was the best part.

Good food in a pleasant atmosphere. The burritos were great and the queso was okay. Love the soft serve ice cream machine as a palate cleanser. It he service was super friendly and helpful.

This has become one of our favorite Tex mex places anywhere!! We were in town for about 2 months and frequented. It's just all so good...my favorite was the beef fajitas. Service was always excellent and friendly -- even if very busy, which it does fill up fast! Get there early!!

Consistently good food for a chain. Good service and nice ambience.. The family meals are great for those who want to order out and bring home.

A year later on my five star still stands! This place is top notch! The restaurant is very clean and the workers are efficient. I can tell that they're hiring new recruits for the busy crazy football season. But they were doing great. My husband and I tried the bowl. He had the steak fajita bowl and I had the Marisco bowl. Delish!!

Gringo's never disappoints! My go-to is the cheese enchiladas with the chile con carne sauce. So good!!!

Upon arrival, the staff were super friendly and very quick to get us seated. Our waiter, Gustavo, came quickly and took our drink orders. He was very attentive and professional. He was very helpful with helping us with our food choices. We had fresh, hot food! The environment was inviting and the family friendly. I highly recommend this place for any occasion!

I picked 3 stars for this one, since it seemed largely indistinguishable from every other chain Tex-Mex/Mexican place. There was really nothing wrong with Gringo's, but there was certainly nothing that made it stand out. The details: I ordered a combination plate centered around a steak fajita taco, a pork tamale, and a cheese enchilada. I looked most forward to the steak taco and it was the least desirable item on the plate -- the meat lacked flavor at best, or maybe had a bad flavor. The pork tamale was really good, and the cheese enchilada was pretty good. The standards of chips, salsa, pico were all good, not great. This is a pretty standard Tex-Mex chain. To be fair, they don't present themselves otherwise. And, sometimes a fella needs a standard Tex-Mex chain meal!

Excellent food and atmosphere. My favorite BBQ place in Houston, I drive all the way from River Oaks area for their food. I badly miss the Waugh location.

Had lunch there. Excellent fish tacos and my wife had tamales that she said were great. We had a great experience! The guacamole sauce that comes with the chips is a little bland, but other than that it was awesome!

I was in College Station for a short time and tried this place. Ordered curbside pickup. They were right on time with my food. I had a 20 min drive to my hotel. When I got to the hotel the food was sealed in containers and still hot. Ordered the chicken tapatíos authentic Tex Mex on a plate. Enough for 2 meals. Good servings of guac salsa sour cream and pico. Chips and red and green salsa also fresh. Crunchy but not greasy. Very satisfied. I now see why this place got such great reviews.

My mother was craving the tilapia and I had a reward so we ended up having a Monday lunch here. It was weirdly busy but when is this place not?! I hadn't tried the enchiladas yet so I got the three amigos. The cheese, chicken, and beef enchiladas were stellar. The zesty ranchero sauce on the steak enchilada was rough!!! It was like a can of tomato sauce was blended and thrown on top. I had a free crispy taco and that was good too. Lots of leftovers! The women behind me were FaceTiming and talking on the phone the entire time which killed the vibe. Somehow I was able to drown it out by the time we left... Shoutout to Fatima for the 6 unsweetened tea refills and one to go. She was awesome!

This was a last minute restaurant selection as we were driving into town for a weekend event. So glad we stopped here. The place was packed. We were lucky enough to grab a seat at the bar where we could eat dinner. The staff is so well trained at this establishment. Our bartender and servers were top notch. Following the lead of the staff, we ordered the beef fajitas for one and shared them. Perfect amount of food for us. The meat is tender moist and delicious. Loved it. This will definitely be on our must visits when we are in the Bryan/College Station area. A sweet treat at the end of the meal fwas a self serve ice cream machine when you walk out the door. We chose the chocolate swirl cone and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm sure you could eat the ice cream before your meal, too. If I was a child, I would love that added bonus. All over a delightful restaurant, great food, and wonderful atmosphere. Hope you enjoy.

SETH. IS. HIM. If you're going to Gringos and you don't ask for Seth, you're seriously missing out. Seth didn't just serve us--he gave us a full-on experience. From the jump, he greeted us with this genuine energy that immediately made us feel at home. He wasn't just friendly--he was dialed in. He knew the menu like the back of his hand, gave fire recommendations, and somehow read our vibe perfectly the entire night. What makes Seth stand out isn't just that he's good at his job--it's that he clearly loves what he does. His timing was flawless, his attention to detail was next-level, and he made every single person at the table feel like a VIP. He checked in at the perfect moments, never hovered, and made sure we had everything we needed before we even realized we needed it. Seth's the kind of person who turns a regular dinner into a night you talk about after. Gringos is lucky to have him--and honestly, if every waiter had Seth's energy, the world would be a better place. That's why he's not just a great waiter-- He's my GOAT.

Dinner during the game at Gringo's. No wait and only 1/2 - 2/3 full. Food was good, but service was very disappointing. Manager wandered around, but seemed oblivious to actually checking on customers. Nobody ever asked if we wanted a second round of drinks and left empty plates in front of us for 45 minutes. Guess we're going to need to start going to Bryan for good Tx-Mx and service.

Great service, great food, amazingly different sauces/salsas. Try amazon. Queso with some chicarrones is a treat. Great job all around.

Had an awesome experience at Gringo's thanks to our server, Cyrus. He was professional, friendly, and on top of everything from the moment we sat down. Our drinks stayed full, food came out just the way we ordered, and he checked in at just the right times without being overbearing. Cyrus made the whole dining experience smooth and enjoyable. Definitely one of the best servers I've had in a while--give that man a raise!

Important: get your name on the waiting list before you leave the house. We waited almost 2 hours on a Friday. Overall, pretty good Mexican food for college station. Queso was YUM. Great service. I ate the soup, and the cup was the perfect size. It also comes with rice.

We ate there twice on a work trip because of our amazing waiter Gustavo, plus the food was phenomenal, and free soft serve ice cream with the team was a hit. They have so many different dips/salsas that come free with chips. The drinks had great flavor, everyone enjoyed the meals and we will definitely be back.

Gringo's has been our go-to anytime we have a date night or when we have family visiting town. The service has always been kind, attentive, and helpful. The food is consistently delicious! Our favorite has got to be the Plato Saldado for the variety and quantity of food you get! I'd recommend Gringo's to anyone!

Decided to try Gringo's having a craving for queso and chips. Restaurant was super crowded but service was on point. Tamales were good. Not as juicy as I hoped but good. Frozen margaritas were good but not much alcohol in them. Quesadillas that my friend ordered were good and a large enough serving for leftovers. We will return.

AMAZING FOOD!!!! Kace was best waiter ever, so attentive and willing to accommodate. The chicken enchiladas are delectable and the steak quesadillas are a classic. The queso is simple yet delicious. We were seated right away and within a few minutes we were served! Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great Tex-mex meal! The ambiance is great for a casual meal or a nicer date night! Definitely recommend, and again shoutout to Kace for making the experience such a delight!

I love their fish tacos and mojitos! They both have such great flavor. Service is always good. This is a good spot for groups. Getting on their waiting list through their website is vital. This place has a wait until after 8pm on weekends. Parking is generally rough, so plan ahead.

Great food and environment. The service was quick with getting our order to us in a timely manner granted we ate dinner at 6pm.

We came here with the whole family during the holiday season. The wait was long since we had a party of 9. But the food was flavorful and came quickly, and the ambiance was lively without being too noisy. The kids loved getting the free soft serve ice cream from the machine!

Worse service we have had... My partner and I went to have dinner tonight at Gringos wanted to try something other than our routine Walk Ons, we sat at the bar he had 1 beer and i had one tijuana twister as we waited to be seated. We got called to our table order some chicharrones and had some chip at this time my other half order another beer we ordered our food and as the food came he placed another order for a beer mind you he is a big guy 6'3 220 Ibs so 2 beers is nothing and he is a talkive guy and naturally out going.. well long story short we got cut off at 2 beers and i only had 2 sips of my drink... my partner naturally got upset and told the guy we will eat our food pay the bill and leave but to walk away from us.. (understandable since he wasn't drunk and made a joke saying he's been waiting a long time for the third beer) Never had this happen soley for ordering a third beer and being talkive... our waiter never came back after taking our order and we were cut off by i believe a supervisor but he didn't introduce himself i had to ask for his name at the front with the hostess

They still have the best fajitas in the BCS area! This time, I had trouble with the on-line check-in. I tried to set it up while we were coming in from Austin. Outside of Caldwell, while I was driving, my wife discovered that it had not gone through. I pulled over and tried again, to no avail. I finally called about the time we got to the Rellis Campus and spoke to one of their managers. She was able to manually add me to the wait list so that when we got there we only had to wait a few minutes vs. the prevailing wait of 1-1/2 hours. Many thanks to the manager, who's name I did not get. As it turns out, I updated my version of Open Table, and their app finally worked. Many thanks to the unnamed manager!

Such great food and ambiance! The margaritas are delicious! The food here is great and service is always impeccable.

Expensive but the fajitas and salsa are really good. Tortilla chips are super thin & crisp. Ranch jalapeño sauce is incredible. Dinners are huge, I just want a simple 2 entree combo. 2 can easily eat off of one plate.

Yesterday I took my wife to Gringos. The place is super busy. We waited about five minutes to be sited. The air conditioning was on super cold and it was blowing on us all the time. The waiter was very nice and he try his best to make it a great meal. The noise is belong what I can stand. The food is not tasty and it not what I expected. It will not be my first choice for Mexican Food. I hope I gave a good description of our visit .

We love Gringo's, but you are best served by adding yourself to the waitlist so you can get in there. Food is good, but a tad bit pricy - like everything nowadays. They close at 9pm, which means their kitchen CLOSES at 9pm. If you are still in the restaurant at 9pm and would like a refill on iced tea, or a refill on chips or salsa, they will explain that their kitchen is closed and that they are unable to refill anything. But - if you get there early enough to fully enjoy your meal and get yourself on the waitlist, you'll enjoy the food and atmosphere. Don't forget to sign up for their Insider's Club for rewards points and coupons. And grab some free ice cream before you head out the door. It's supposed to help your food digest better - or so I hear.

Food is great, good variety of choices and flavors, but the noise level is a buzzkill.

Service is horrible at the bar. Not once did a person come ask if we needed anything, not even the check. We had to ask for everything. I gave me the tip. They didn't deserve one.a shift change is not a good excuse for terrible service.
