This place was awesome with great service. I ordered the high graded crawfish, and they did not disappoint. I highly recommend this place when wanting fresh seafood of any kind.

I like Groomers. Their customer service can be very good. I had one staff help me out a lot. Shout out to Merlin. He was great in helping me get some good catch of the day. I wanted AmberJack and they didn't have any ... so, he was able to find me a similar type fish. I really appreciated his attention to detail. Great place to shop at if you want fresh fish and also, they cook great samples to taste, the lobster samples were amazing. I need that recipe.

Daughter wanted steak and lobster...Where can I find really fresh high quality salmon, shrimp, lobster tails and crawdad meat??? Groomers!! My wife being a San Antonio native has been talking about Groomers for years...no I did not listen. But a close friend of mine is neighbors with Rick...he bought a ton of crawdads recently and we put on a boil for a men's gathering. I was floored at the quality! If you want really excellent quality fresh seafood, Groomers is THE place to get it in San Antonio. I went on Saturday in preparation for daughter's family coming in for a visit. Needless to say we spent an hour just talking with people and my wife and daughter and grandson ran around sampling everything. The service, the atmosphere, the friendliness of literally everyone was incredible. Blake and the team took such great care of us! I bought Canadian Salmon..mind blown. Lobster tails in 4 sizes, alligator sausage, jumbo shrimp, crawdad meat, seasonings... it was like a movie. I told Rick he won me over and I will be back ...Groomer Team...such a fantastic culture of customer service, knowledge and caring. I will be back often. Reagan R

Google
Mixed Experience — Great First Visit, Disappointing After That My first visit was excellent — I ordered wild Chilean sea bass, wild shrimp, and wild Canadian salmon fillet. Everything was fresh and top quality. Unfortunately, my second visit was the complete opposite. I was sold salmon miscuts meant to be discounted at $7/lb, even though I ordered (and paid for) full wild Canadian salmon fillets. The 2 pounds of wild shrimp I received were old, mushy, and reeked of ammonia. I called to complain and the manager did refund me after I returned the products. Thinking they’d make things right, I gave them another shot. This time, the salmon was fresh and a proper fillet — but unbelievably, they sold me the same spoiled shrimp again. It had the same awful smell and had to go straight in the bin. They had a chance to fix things, but instead, they doubled down on bad seafood. Really disappointing.

Shrimp po boy hit the spot. The seasoning on the fries was fantastic. The clam and corn chowder was tasty. The service and staff was top notch. Great place to visit.

Google
Not entirely sure what is going on when they open, but there was a large crowd waiting when they opened their doors. The seafood quality is excellent. The prices were fine, akin to a Central Market or Whole Foods.

As a chef you circle all of your ingredients in the chemistry blender to see what works like deliciousness of lyrics in a great song before writing it. In this fine tune, I walked it and ready to be groomed by my tenured hosts. Without spoken words, the visual was inspired. The bridge was found! My coarse was to be fined tuned into my one and only one hit wonder here. In the background, the work force was working like a conducting orchestra helping every customer with passion. With eyes wide open, I was definitely playing this one by ear. I established my base line beat with a pro blend of boil seasoning. Then I move on to the rhythm section with fresh live sound of crawfish and mussels. The rest was left to my own turn table on the stove top. See my pictures 👇🏼 Congratulations Goomers for such a successful passionate business and your well earned platinum album on your wall! Bravo 👏.

I came here alone and was a bit overwhelmed about the process, the experience was unlike any other seafood place I have been. I walked around the store twice and slowly looked at everything on the shelves and the cold refrigerator, then I just stood back and observed everyone else shopping. Then I asked one of the workers who was cutting fish for some help. He walked me around, introduced me to the cashier told her it was my first time there. He helped me pick out some salmon and shrimp and explained the checkout process to me. I will be back plus the seafood I cooked was amazing. They have pots and pans and every spice, seasoning and sides you can think of, this is your one stop shop for all of your seafood needs.

Yelp
Great fresh sushi grade fish selection! Highly recommend! Will definitely be back! Fridays are the best days to visit

Yelp
Worst experience ever. Heard good reviews but the Cod we bought was very ripe and smelled of ammonia. Shrimp wasn't much better, very foul stuff. If you go there be sure to ask to smell and look at any fish before they wrap it up. Never again.

Yelp
We were just here Saturday morning to buy crawfish and salmon belly to cook for our early Saturday dinner Mother's Day celebration. As usual, we were satisfied with the freshness of the seafood items they sell here, the cleanliness of their store and on top of that the great customer service. We were always happy to get assistance from their staff and each and every one we met were very warm, pleasant and helpful. It's always a great experience shopping here plus the free food samples are always tasty and satisfying.

Yelp
If you are looking for fresh seafood, then I highly suggest Groomers. My fiance and I got oysters from the other day, and they were really good. We did not have any trouble finding any parking. We went during a week day this time. Other times, we have gone during weekend and had to park on the street. The customer service there is always helpful and quick. We put in our order at the counter, and they called us over when it was ready. When we got the oysters, we thought it might not be enough, so we asked for another order of oysters. They were very accommodating and added it to the order without issue. The inside is decorated with items related to sea and ocean. It was disappointing that at the time, the website was down for taking orders. I considered lowering the rating to a 4 because of this. In the end, I decided to still give 5 stars and considered all the great service they gave in the past.

Yelp
Seafood Friyay!! Just finished stopping by for some 10/20 Scallops, Yellowfin Tuna Sashimi, Mixed Cuts Salmon and a package of Lobster Empanadas. We had the Scallops and Lobster Empanadas just now. Seared the scallops in Kirkland Grass Fed butter which we got 1 pound and yielded about 17 pieces and baked the Empanadas for about 25 minutes at 420º. The scallops were sweet and I ended up splashing some lemon juice to bring out the sweetness. The Empanadas were spicy according to the hubs but he liked the spice. I remember that from the tasting we had a few months ago. I've got the Yellowfin Tuna cut up in slices for Sashimi but I want it nicely chilled so will dive into that in a bit. Will make Salmon Soup with the Mixed cuts tomorrow. We passed on the Crab Cakes & Ceviche this time. There was a female vendor out frying some samples for folks to try: Crab Cakes, Grouper, Catfish & some other stuff. I noticed they offer Deluxe Crab Cakes now which has scallops added to the recipe. Service is always swift.

Yelp
You can't get fresh seafood anywhere in San Antonio other than Groomer's. The selection of items is amazing. They have plenty of spices for anything you are cooking, equipment to include Large boiling pots, burners and grills and utensils. The staff here is super friendly as you walk through the door. They will walk to you and ask if you need help. They even take your order for fresh food and have it brought to the counter and will call your name so that you can see what you are getting before you actually pay for it. The items that you buy and packaged well in a bag, with ice if needed, and then in to a box that is sealed with tape. You don't have to worry about that fresh seafood smell left in your car on a hot San Antonio day. I like my H-E-B, but for fresh seafood and at a less expensive price, I will come here for everything I need.

Yelp
***Added after original review.... Funny story... I've been cooking salmon for as long as I can remember which means my almost 6 year old dog also gets an unseasoned portion as well. This dog is SO spoiled that when I give him a new food or treat- he has to take it outside to taste by himself. Again, he's almost 6 and gets salmon at least 1-2 times a month. This salmon was so tender and amazing, he thought that it was a new food. He picked a piece up and took it outside to try. He immediately ran back inside to get the rest. This is how freaking amazing the salmon was. I've never had fish so good in my life and I'm from the state that you know... everyone hates. So ya, I'm a forever customer! *** Fantastic customer service! Top notch!!! This was our first time here and we were so surprised at how busy it was as well as how large the building is! We weren't exactly sure what to get or how to order so we just kinda stood there lol. An employee asked if this was our first time and proceeded to explain e writhing to us as well as taking us over to the cases. We ended up ordering lobster, shrimp and salmon. We made the shrimp last night and it was so fresh and delicious! Oh how I've missed fresh seafood! We're having the salmon tonight and I'm so excited to try it since the employee explained to me how much better it's going to taste. I will for sure be back. Probably weekly. I'm in love with this place!!

Yelp
Ordered $300 worth of items for pick up on 12/24. Received email from them confirming my order. When I showed up to pick up my order I was told that it had been canceled with no reason why. I tried to buy off the shelf but wad told by E their main b....h that I was rude to them so that refused to sell to me. The manager there is a joke and has no idea what customer service means. He should go and ask for his job back at macdonalds employees like him are what make companies close their doors.

Yelp
Two words: SEAFOOD HEAVEN! I've been wanting to stop by this spot for the longest time after discovering it from a random Yelp search for fresh seafood. The unassuming exterior leads into a clean & orderly retail store that not only sells various types of fresh seafood, but also offers a large selection of seasonings, bread crumbs, pots & pans, seafood-related utensils, and other knick knacks. There's even a restroom off to the right of the entrance (in case you drank a little too much coffee on your way here). There were only a couple customers inside when I went on a Saturday morning, so I was able to leisurely browse all the goodies that the store offered. In addition to cooking-related items, they sell ornately decorated oyster shells and clothing merch. After placing an order at the front counters for 1/2 lb each of sushi-grade Scottish salmon ($17.95/lb) and ahi tuna ($28.95/lb), the seafood was ready in about 5-7 minutes. This was the perfect amount of time to sample an assortment of food located at a stand in the middle aisle of the store. (All these food samples can be purchased as well.) I got to try the ceviche, shrimp cocktail, crab cake, and panko-crusted salmon. Everything was delicious, super fresh, and worth trying. Packaging for the seafood order was fantastic. The salmon and tuna were individually packaged, placed in a much larger ice bag, and finally plopped into a signature Groomer's Seafood cardboard box. The tuna was a bit of a letdown as it wasn't as flavorful as I expected it to be. However, the salmon was fairly good. Texture for both fish were great though! Pricing for the quality is fair, but I'll have to give the sushi-grade fish another try to determine the quality consistency. (But both were quite delicious in a homemade poke bowl!) Verdict: I'll definitely be back here to try the abundance of other seafood that Groomer's Seafood has to offer!

Yelp
Ordered some clams and oysters. I've lived on 3 different coasts in the US and on an island, so I KNOW quality. I came in person once and they don't have fresh seafood sitting in the window for you to choose yourself. I thought maybe they only sell frozen seafood and other products, so I left. Months later, I realized you can order online and they package it up for you. I'm not a super huge fan of that because you can't personally see the quality of the product before purchasing. It comes boxed up in ice. Upon receiving the box and coming straight home, we washed our clams and oysters. Upon removing the blue bands, ALL OF THEM popped open in our sink unexpectedly. We tried calling the establishment to see why this happened, but no one answers the phone. We tried again next day and left a voice message. We opened all of them all the way inspect the. Ans some of them just did not look safe to consume. There was wayy to much sediment, Grey/brown color, not plump. They were just bad. I wish the website would have stated that these oysters are already dead Upon pick up. How is anyone supposed to know that a blue band oyster is dead if they've never experienced that before? Coming from living by the ocean, I never once experience a "blue band oyster." This company needs to notate that in the item description OR AT LEAST ANSWER THE PHONE SO WE KNOW ITS SAFE FOR CONSUMPTION. We did recieve a phone call and the guy said, "maybe a little sand must have gotten in after processing." No, your employees did not quality check the products before packaging and charging us money. We also weighed the clams and were shorted what we paid for. How is this company still in business. If you're going to do something, have pride and honor in what you do. Poor quality and deception will always come back around to bite you back.

Yelp
We drive to Groomers every Friday. The fish is so fresh. If you want crabs or crawfish they have that as well depending on the season. They have reasonable prices for the quality of the food.

Yelp
This place is amazing if you are a seafood lover! Right in the middle of Texas, I can finally get lump crabmeat and oysters to make the food I miss the most from the East Coast. The prices are very good and the service is great. The attendants are knowledgeable about what they have in stock and market price, I was also impressed with the overall cleanliness of the market. Groomers can get busy but they have a system to move the line quickly. I can't wait to go back and expand my homemade seafood dishes.

Yelp
Came here for soft shell crab but unfortunately no fresh ones . We just decided to buy the frozen one , but it's not cheap. 6.95$ a piece. Doesn't taste good. I don't recommend it. I like the fresh items . You order it and they will prepare it for you. You cannot go inside the storage area where the seafoods are but you can see it from glass window. They put it in a box with ice . The seafoods are quite pricey but is surely fresh. They're close on Sundays. The employees are friendly and accommodating. I recommend this store.

Yelp
I love Groomers. We used to go every weekend when my husband and I were dating. We would always try a new fish based on a recommendation by the very knowledgeable staff. Fast forward to 10 years later and it still delivers. We got east coast oysters yesterday and grilled them with Parmesan and pesto. They were so fresh and tasted fabulous. Only place to buy fish in San Antonio!!

Yelp
As a Baltimore native who is used to a daily catch straight from the Chesapeake Bay, Groomer's is a Godsend! While all of their products are a home run, my favorite time of year is when it is blue crab season. Sure, you can pick up blue crabs from a variety of Asian markets in the city, but Groomer's always has the best! You are able to order ahead, but that takes away from all the fun of being able to go in and wrangle them out of the piles yourself! There is nothing I love more than an early morning run to pick up some fresh seafood and check out what other goodies they have in store. They have a great variety of specialty frozen meats (alligator being my most recent grab) and hidden gems that are difficult to find elsewhere. Most recently, I was able to pick up small packets of cuttlefish ink (this is extremely helpful, as most online retailers sell their ink in too large of a quantity for a home cook to be able to use up before it goes bad) as well as real powdered wasabi (another tough find!). From hidden gems to the showcase of fresh fish, Groomer's is always a delight!

Yelp
Groomers... My Go To Seafood Spot ~ Last weekend, I headed to Groomers to grab some seafood for the 4th of July weekend. I called on Wednesday and Thursday to see if they had blue crabs and was told I needed to show up early on Friday. On Friday, I woke up early and called Groomers at 0900 and was informed they did have the crabs. I hustled on down to Groomers and over the 30 minute ride imagined dumping them into the pot and sucking on the claws. Upon arrival, my nerves piqued when I saw people walking out looking disappointed, they had no items in hand and I had a long line to stand in. Unfortunately, I overheard the Groomers Rep tell the customer ahead of me that they had run out of crabs. I was pissed, I just drove across town and it wasn't even 0948. How could they be out of crabs. A few of us in line were considering mutiny, when John walked up. He apologized to us profusely and said a line had gathered at 0600. I was angry, I wanted my crabs and waited all week to add them to my belly! Now ... I had no crabs and crustaceans to tango with. John came up to me, he said we do have more seafood as he saw me looking at their deviled crabs on display. I wanted some seafood so I settled on some East Coast oysters, snow crab legs, a lobster tail, some frozen blue crabs and some blue crab shells. As a Charlestonian, (SC) I enjoy all types of seafood. I decided to continue my solo seafood feast with the crab shells to create Deviled Crab, a Low Country delicacy. John walked me to the front for purchase and talked to me, I could see he wanted to please me as a customer. When he sold me the crab shells I knew I could make my deviled crabs and just purchase the crab meat to stuff them with. He waited with me and because I now could create my Grannies Deviled Crab recipe, I showered him with many hugs. He smiled and as they brought out my order I recognized the pretty blue eyes of Eddie behind his mask, my Groomer's Rep from years ago. He remembered me and thanked me for my Yelp review. My order was incorrect when it came out as they had placed King Crab legs in the place of my Snow Crab legs. I stepped aside and Eddie went back to retrieve my correct order. John told me that in the future, I could order my crabs and pay online. I thanked him, but was not happy that I wasn't provided those nuggets of info on Wednesday and Thursday when I called, knocking this review down to a 4 Star power. John received one more hug and I paid for my order. Normally, I am all over my receipts and didn't realize that my purchase was $75. Perhaps it was Eddie's blue eyes that distracted me, but 1 lobster tail, 1 lb of snow crab legs, 1 lb of frozen blue crabs, and 1 dozen east coast oysters should not have come up to $75! Eddie walked my goods to the car and went on my merry way. I didn't notice the mistake until Sunday and Groomers was closed. The cashier had not taken the King Crab off of my receipt which was a hefty $27. Immediately on Monday I went to Groomers to fix the mistake. I called earlier to let them know of the mistake and was informed to text them the receipt and my CC info... not going to do that, but I did go in and see John. I said do you remember me and he said Of Course!! I said I was charged for those King Crab legs. He looked over the receipt and said No that was a mistake! Within minutes, I had a refund from my new friend. He asked me if I needed anything else and I said not today ! Thanks John and Eddie again for an Amazing experience, while there was some frustration, my Grannies' Devil Crab recipe was amazing and I couldn't have done it without your crab shells. Pics Posted Highly Recommended. Hope you enjoyed your 4th. Da Islandgal29412

Yelp
Noone goes to Groomers because it smells pleasant. They go to purchase slightly expensive seafood but typically it is better than store bought seafood. When you get rude service and turn away a customer who has a simple request and willing to pay good money, its appauling. Im sure the owner would not be happy to know the way the staff is.

Yelp
Curbside picked up 20# fresh boiled crawfish. Restaurants here in Sa antonio sprinkle seasoning on top giving the crawfish meat no flavor. Groomers boiled them to perfection with amazing flavor. If you like crawfish this is the place to go... they don't come with sides, I boiled the corn and potatoes in old bay seasoning

Yelp
Clean, popular fish market in a commercial area near Greater Harmony Hills. Seems as though they have everything you'll need to host your seafood feast. Friday mornings they have live blue crab and crawfish. I say mornings, because when I arrived at 10AM they were swamped with people buying coolers full. I can imagine they sell out by lunchtime. A staff member walked me around the store showing me what they had on offer after I explained to him that I'm a recipe developer looking for a local fish monger. They basically sell to customers the surplus from their wholesale accounts. They have everything from sushi grade fish to turtle meat. I'll definitely be back to purchase my seafood in the future.

Yelp
Just need to pile on to the rave reviews here mostly to update any readers looking for the most recent reviews. Bottom line: it's absolutely fantastic like others write, and must be unique in San Antonio in quality and selection of seafood + other stuff I wouldn't have imagined (frozen alligator and quail). Groomer's seems to cater to restaurants/hospitality based on the number of delivery trucks parked outside. It's in an industrial area near the airport but do not let that discourage you. It's easy to find. Based on reviews I was expecting a great fish market and it is. I got scallops, mussels and a 1lb cod fillet. All were excellent quality; I had a bit of a moment figuring out how to cook the cod as it was 15" long! What I didn't expect was the excellent packaging of my order; I'd thought I would get it in a bag and then have to rush home to keep things fresh. Nope. Everything was placed in a box, with a plastic bag inside. Into that went the order, and ice was placed on top. The box was taped shut. No issues with getting it home fresh and without any leakage. In fact, when I went to cook that evening, there was still plenty of ice leftover, of course I'd put it in the fridge straightaway. The thing I didn't expect was the variety of seafood accessories, like endless rubs and mixes, Asian supplies like Ponzu sauce, and a nice selection of restaurant cooking supplies by companies like Dexter (pro-tip: never buy your cooking knives at Williams-Sonoma or similar, always get the stuff commercial cooks use). I think I even saw a couple of "discos" on top. The other thing was the aforementioned alligator and quail (frozen). Just an added touch for the more adventurous looking to branch out. The place was hopping with retail customers on a Saturday; despite that I had my seafood order in under ten minutes. All staff very friendly and competent, like they've been working there a long time. I heard them patiently answering questions from retail customers about this or that, and in one case offering to take a cut of fish back to the processing room (which you can view through a window) to skin a fish that the customer hadn't first asked to be skinned but then wanted skinned. Nice.

Yelp
Wow!!! I was so excited when I opened the door to groomers. They have so many wonderful spices, seafoods and cooking utensils. Took home some sausage and ordered some crawfish from their online store for curbside pickup. I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Holy crap, I can't believe I haven't been here before. This place is the bomb. Everything (I think) or most things at least are imported in fro Louisiana so you know you're getting some good seafood! Lots of variety of frozen meals, frozen seafood and TONS of fresh fish. I got some sushi grade tuna and salmon here and it was awesome. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Very disappointed by the staff made a simple request and was willing to pay extra but the laziness got the best of them

Yelp
Went there early Friday to beat the rush to buy crawfish. Customer service is great! Store is great! Bought a 30lb sack of crawfish 3 dozen bags of oysters, crabs to only find out when I got to my destination that I was missing one bag of oysters! But my biggest disappointment was when I get the mud bugs out to clean them and purge them, at least 10lbs of them were dead!! Waste of money for this so expensive price

Yelp
The best seafood market in the area hands down. They also have a great selection of seasoning and salt free options too. The customer service is always great. Suggestion- For first timers signage explaining to talk to someone to get the fish order in would be a great idea. Moose Out

Yelp
What a fishmonger! This is seriously the best fishmonger in town. You can forget that fancy grocery store in Alamo Heights, or that local chain of grocers. This place has the best seafood in San Antonio. It's only mongering. Other than the oysters and the sashimi grade sushi meat, I don't think that you can actually eat anything straight from this store. The store has a rotating selection and menu available. It depends on what their sources catch, or what's in season. When it comes to oysters, they often will have multiple, multiple varieties, when in season. This is the source for most of the local high-end restaurants to get their seafood. This is where they go when they need swordfish or the best salmon. They also sell crawfish! The store isn't just fresh seafood. They also sell some frozen stuff, a bunch of flavorings, spices, and things to pair with your seafood. This store has a cult following, and they also sell some gear with their own logo on it. Often, it's best to go in here with a vibe for what you want, instead of a list of particular items you're searching for. You never know if the sea has been friendly to the fishmonger that day, and what's in abundance and what's in short supply until you arrive (or check their social media). I've heard that Groomer's has some alliance with the airlines that allows them to get their fish on the first flights out of places like Seattle or Anchorage and into San Antonio International Airport. Hence, their proximity to the airport, right across the freeway.

Yelp
Terrible customer service experience. I drove 30 minutes to purchase an item after being told over the phone by an employee the item was in stock. The item was out of stock, and the same employee was completely dismissive about giving inaccurate information over the phone.

Yelp
They have blue crabs in season on Fridays, starting at 9am. They have lobsters, frozen frog legs, she crab soup frozen, boudin, crawfish when in season. All types of seasonings. Freezer full of all sorts of unusual foods. Don't mess with their turtles, evidently they are their pride and joy pets. They have several types of fish, can't say much about that since I've never purchased any. They also have alagator (sp). Try them.

Yelp
Paid a visit today in the midst of our global pandemic and surprised to find many doing the same. We took our precautions to protect ourselves with masks and sanitizer while keeping our distance of others. Today is the last day for their offering of fresh crawfish so we decided it was probably our last crawfish boil for the season. Took advantage of ordering online for pick up and arrived to the store to additionally snag 3 pounds of blue crab as well. Service experience by staff was great and even had help bringing our items to the car in the rain. Thanks Groomers for keeping supplies available and even bringing in toilet paper and eggs out for customers in need of these essential items at this time

Yelp
They didnt have much fresh seafood we went before new year so maybe that's why. The fresh seafood on display looked meh and they only had like 6 options. Most of the food they sell appears to be frozen. The store had other shelf stable items like spices and sauces. The staff was kind and attentive asked me if I needed help. The young lady even went to the back to see if they had the caviar that I was looking for( they didn't have it but I appreciated her looking). Would check it out again to see if maybe we went at a bad time because it was before new year.

Yelp
While I've had the chance to try a few of their other selections, I come here specifically to order sushi grade salmon and tuna, which is always super fresh! The process of placing an order is confusing--you do NOT order at the register. To place an order I usually wait in the area next to the register where the fish is displayed and one of the workers will come out from the back with a notepad (I know, super organized). Once your order is placed they will call out your name and then you go to the register to pay. I really like how they pack everything up for you and put it on ice to make sure that your fish stays fresh. They have a large selection of fish and shellfish available, which changes depending on the season and availability (check their Facebook page for updates on what they have in stock, as well as pricing). Their market also has some great ingredients to check out while you wait for your order. All in all, this place is great if you're looking to get some fresh, high-quality seafood.

Yelp
Got 2 filets. Combined they were both 25% over the weight I requested. The salmon was great, high quality and well cut. The black drum was like eating a tire and looked like it was cut with a chainsaw. I've been going here for a decade but the more often I go the more inconsistent it gets. Have also noticed new faces working inside every few months. Not sure if that's why the quality is all over the place, but 90% of employees are rude and unhelpful.

Yelp
I heard good things, but can't support skimmers. I ordered fish for a dinner and came up short when I got home. I thought it felt a bit on the light side so I weighted it and salmon came in nearly 3 oz short and then the tuna came in 4 oz short that's nearly a 1/4 pound off.

Yelp
I purchased 2 1/4 lbs of shrimp, brought it home and put it immediately in the refrigerator. Next day I was preparing for dinner and was overwhelmed by the horrible odor. Turns out the shrimp was rancid. I called the next morning to alert Groomers of my problem and was told I had to physically bring the product back for refund. I had already disposed of the rotten shrimp due to the horrendous smell. I don't live in San Antonio and was told I could get a store credit if I came back by. A store credit would do nothing for me since I don't live here. How many other customers experienced what I did? An immediate refund should have been issued. Beware of quality and freshness when dealing with this establishment as they are not customer friendly/accommodating.

Yelp
Buyer beware! We placed a crawfish pre-order last week for the coming Easter weekend. Paid in full and no information anywhere about prices changing, and our potentially having to pay more to actually get the order. Got a phone call yesterday that prices had gone up and our choices were to either pay more or cancel the order. Spoke to management, thinking surely they would honor the order, because in this industry that's the whole point of ordering early and to do otherwise is called a "bait and switch", but the manager/owner was so rude, arrogant, and condescending that we cancelled the order. If you actually want to get what you pay for and at the price you're promised, stay far away from Groomers! I wish I'd read all of these negative reviews before we'd even attempted to do business with them. If I could, I'd give 0 stars. They're only getting a 1 because the site won't let you go lower.

Yelp
This is really a well hidden gem in sa that none of the locals I asked even knew existed! Overall I love having a fresh seafood place but am not happy about some aspects of groomers- extremely limited hours, some items are even more expensive than at other grocery stores ; and limited selection of seafood condiments. What do I love about them? Great selection of fresh fish, super friendly staff and upbeat attitude The worst part about them are their extremely limited hours. Closing at 430 on the weekdays, 1pm on Saturday and being fully closed on sundays really limits my ability to go here as much as I'd like. Otherwise you walk in to a really friendly atmosphere market where they sell a bunch of seasoning varieties as well as frozen seafood. Then you step along to the back of the store and you see a clear window of their "fresh" fish displays along with a price list right in the front. I love their assortment of "sushi grade" fish and always get their Scottish salmon ($13/lb) which has more belly fat than the New Zealand ones (which are also double the price at $25/lb). The tuna we got once and were quite disappointed by the taste to be honest even though it was twice as much as the salmon. So that would be the last time we get tuna from there. We also love getting their oysters which both times have been quite fresh and delicious. The dozen is $8.95 and so far I haven't been able to find a better price elsewhere). Both Fridays I was lucky enough to go there, they had no live crabs as they normally do on fri and sat's unfortunately. Our usuals also include their bay scallops which I think were around $12/lb as well as additional seasonings every time we go. They happen to have a delicious horseradish and cocktail sauce to go with the oysters. Their dry section for sushi is quite limited though. Expect to find soy sauce there but you won't find any seaweed for example. With the bay scallops I make ceviche (which they also sell ready made) and wanted to get calamato. Unfortunately they did not have that either. I would have loved to have the ability to go there and not have to worry about making time to visit another store to prepare the food I got at groomers but unfortunately with their limited Selection that has not been possible.

Yelp
The Groomer's staff is the friendliest in town! I call ahead each and every Friday to make sure blue crabs are available and they always answer all of my questions. They update their social media frequently and they have curb side and online orders if you need them. I've been in San Antonio for 5 years and only buy my fresh seafood from them. See you soon Groomers!

Yelp
Excellent customer service! The seafood quality is excellent. Quality seafood in San Antonio, Texas comes at a slightly higher price. Well worth it when you're in the mood to cook seafood. They have SUSHI GRADE fish!!! You can get it here and enjoy restaurant quality sushi at a much more decent price than at some sushi restaurant or bar. All you need is good company! They even package your seafood items complete with lots of ice to keep them fresh while you drive home. 4 stars for Groomer's Seafood. I strongly recommend this place for the freshest seafood in San Antonio.

Yelp
I can't rate this because I've never been . I have friends who have made my mouth water telling me how delicious the food is . Unfortunately I have other obligations that needs to be first. Hopefully some day no.

Yelp
My son in-law went on a Saturday not knowing that they were fixing to close I was amazed at the service we received, they did not rush us out and their employees were so friendly. We bought fresh oysters, squid rings and salmon. This place is awesome I encourage everyone to buy from here. They will even give advise on how to prepare what you bought. Keep up the great job and please share with your teammates.

Yelp
Fresh seafood in a landlocked city? I am already a fan before visiting! I actually don't know too much about seafood b/c I didn't grow up on the coast. But I absolutely love fresh seafoooood!!! I heard groomer is the best place in SA to get quality seafood at a reasonable price. They supply a large variety of seafood to lots of restaurants in town. They must be good! I came here for their Lobster Maria event a few weeks ago. It was off the chain. It seemed like the whole city of SA were there for the fresh Maine lobsters they flew in. The line was almost miles out the door. People waited in the pouring rain for hours. It was crazy! After my 1.5 hours waiting, I finally got my lobsters for $6.95 each. Yup, $6.95 EACH, not per pound! They were huge!! It was totally worth it!! The staff there were very friendly. For the lobsters I bought, they provided cooking and storing tips and packed them perfectly in a box with ice. I steamed the three bad boys the following day, they tasted AH-MAZING! Groomer also had a variety of cooking spice, cooking demos and yummy samples to try. I have to come back another time very soon to just look around!!!

Yelp
Absolutely the best place in San Antonio for fresh seafood. They sell both wholesale and retail. Such a wonderful selection. Always specials each week. If you are having a seafood Jones this is the place to go. Nothing else comes close!

Yelp
If you know, you know. Best fresh seafood and spices in San Antonio. Retail and wholesale. Love getting oysters and shucking them at home. Always fresh and delicious.
