A Wine Novice’s Weekend Guide to the Walla Walla Valley - Eater Seattle

"Overlooking its vineyards in the Southside winery district, Grosgrain Vineyards’ tasting room is an unmissable pit stop on the western track toward home. Pronounced with a silent “s,” the name refers to the layout of the vines: Grosgrain ribbon has little raised stripes on it, evoking a vineyard map. The focus here is on crisp white, rosé, and sparkling wines, made with organic farming practices, all subtle and delicious." - Meg van Huygen

Extremely disappointed with my experience here. The wine was average, the ambiance was cute, but the service was the major problem. I had a glass while my partner decided to do the wine tasting flight. At the beginning, the server was friendly enough, bringing the wines at a good rate and briefly describing them. However, while we were enjoying, another table had been seated directly behind us. They also did the tasting. Our server began to help them as well, providing the most detailed and extravagant explanation of each wine. I am not sure if it was their appearance of being older adults or our appearance of being younger adults, but the difference in the explanations of the exact same wines was VAST. We began to listen in so we could actually get the full experience. Felt very disrespected as a wine loving individual.

Without booking we arrived at this beautiful decorated tasting room of this winery. The friendly stuff introduced us to a broad range of their wines - they do so many different styles that you could spend all day tasting.

Lovely mid-century modern decor and comfortable tasting room. The staff was friendly and shared lots of unique and delicious wines. Our favorite was the Syrah blend Stonewashed!

Grosgrain is a hidden gem in Walla Walla. Came here in May of 2021 where Va Piano recommended visiting and ended up joining their CRU club after our visit. They have a unique and thoughtful approach on how they make their wines, also love the aesthetic and design. My favorite is their Semillion Pet Nat! Service is always great, relaxed and friendly.

I actually want to live here. Great wines, amazing views, exceptional hospitality and of course, every little detail is thoughtfully curated. Whenever I have friends visit from out of town, I try to take them to Grosgrain. We often get the chance to meet the winemaker himself during our tasting experience, it's rarely the same wines on the menu, and they're all so interesting and well made. Do not miss Grosgrain during your next visit to Walla Walla wine country - it's a must!

First of all, great service, lovely atmosphere in general, I just wasn't a fan of their wines overall.

We visited Grosgrain Vineyards last week and highly recommend that anyone visiting the wineries in Walla Walla go there for a visit. The person giving the tasting was knowledgeable and the wines selected for the tasting showed the care they take in making quality wines. We purchased a case of wine comprised of our favorites from the tasting and look forward to sharing them with friends when they visit us in Maryland.

Expect perfectly priced wine, arousing aroma, and exquisite haircuts. Be sure to check out the upstairs loft and book of topographic maps.

Yelp
WOW! My visit here was absolutely astonishing. I can't recommend this enough and am already scheming to come back. The grounds are nothing short of magical, with tons of greenery and plants and a stunning Mountain View in every direction. The inside is stunningly designed with curated art and furniture that had such an amazing and modern vibe. The patio is also phenomenal. Everyone we interacted with was so kind, caring, and passionate about the wine and the work they were doing. The wine itself was absolutely amazing and most of our group went home with bottles. A must try!

Yelp
I debated on 4 vs 3 stars... the ambience on the deck was perfect- lovely couches underneath the umbrellas and service great. Unfortunately we found the wines underwhelming. The highlight was the sparkling Limburger - crazy for us red lovers. With so many phenomenal wines in Walla Walla there are better options but you will enjoy your time nonetheless.

Yelp
We weren't sure what to expect driving up and not being familiar with the winery or wines at all. Very much enjoyed the ambiance and mid-century modern decor. The atmosphere was welcoming and warm and the staff were happy to talk about Walla Walla and the wines being poured. We are big fans of Rocks wine and Stonewashed was our favorite. We will be back!

Yelp
This place is lovely. Each wine was delicious -- especially loved the blush which was wildly affordable by the bottle! -- and the grounds were decorated and landscaped in a colorful, artistic way. The wine bottles have fun, artsy logos which compliment the youthful, fun vibes of the place. The service was welcoming and kindly accommodated my young daughter who tagged along. I look forward to going back soon!

Yelp
Stopped by this winery after reading the description of the wine varietals available in the Walla Walla wine guide, and were pleasantly surprised to hear that the winery had just opened under it's current name and management. The owners were serving as it was a weekday and quiet, and they clearly have a passion about the industry and their current wine projects as they have worked at other wineries in the past. The wines were flavorful, delicate, and well balanced. There were mostly whites and rose options available, but reds are planned for the future. Our favorites were the Grenache (a light summer red) and the Lemberger sparkling wine. The property is well put together whilst still in progress; the tasting room was tastefully decorated and has a pleasant patio overlooking a water feature that is perfect for afternoon tasting. We will come again!

Yelp
The wines are fantastic! They are all great but I am currently enjoying the Blush wine. I just ordered my second case to be shipped to my home. Great customer service!!

Yelp
We visited today in celebration of a birthday. We had six in our party. To begin the seating was not the best up in a room out of the way. The pours were quick without much information and effort. The care and quality for potential future patrons was not there at all. It was very disappointing when comparing other vineyards we had visited in the area... especially with the higher tasting price. The wine was simply awful and we decided not to purchase bottles even if it took away the tasting costs. When contacting the owner there wasn't much said except next time he would pour for us personally. We will not be returning.
