Visited this spot for Sunday brunch around 11 AM and was pleasantly surprised. There was a short line when we arrived, but it moved quickly. Ordering is done at the counter, and you can grab a seat either indoors or outside while you wait. We kicked things off with a coffee and a smoothie—both were excellent and super refreshing. For food, we went with the breakfast platter, which included over-medium eggs, maple bacon, and crispy breakfast potatoes. Everything was fresh and flavorful. The only miss was the bagel, which came out a little too hard—probably over-toasted. We also tried the breakfast sandwich on a biscuit, and it was fantastic—huge portion and really tasty. Overall, great vibes and great food. Looking forward to coming back soon!

Great breakfast spot! There was a short line when we arrived and it moved quickly! menus were available to look at while we waited! They offer a good selection of breakfast options, including coffees and mimosas! We ordered and sat on the rooftop. They brought our food to us and water was complimentary (self-help style). I ordered the slammer plate- best scrambled eggs ive had in a long time! Pancake was crispy on the edges and thick and fluffy on the inside! I added blueberries to the cakes and they come with butter and syrup! Bacon was not my fav but my friend loved the pepper on the bacon. Grits were different- the verdict is still out on those- also they put cheese in the grits which i didnt see on the menu. (I may have missed it but i think you should specify if you put cheese in the grits). Overall, a great spot to have a beautiful breakfast at 2pm in the afternoon!!

Food was ok. I love the atmosphere, staff and vibe. Their prices are extremely affordable!!! Three meals for $35 is a win in my book. However the prices on the menu are out dated. But still not to bad.

DEAR LORD THIS PLACE. First - next level food (more on that in a second). Second - legit prices. Third - atmosphere, venue, and location. I love everything about it. UPDATE I'VE NOW HAD LUNCH/DINNER AND IT RIVALS BFAST! Go at all times. Try all foods. No not pass Go. Do not collect $200. Go Straight to heaven. Best pimento cheese sandwich in my life, top five chicken sandwiches of my life, and the butter bean salad is phenomenal NOW ABOUT THE FOOD. It's crazy to say but only had two dishes and a couple of sides and there were at least three things that are unbelievable. The House Cured CORNED BEEF is absolutely out of this world, (out of this world) and I'm not somebody that normally orders it. It was just incredible. Secondly, the In-House Made CASHEW ALMOND PEANUT BUTTER I could eat from a large cereal bowl. Seriously, if you go try Grub you absolutely need to order a side of the almond cashew peanut butter and eat it with a damn spoon. Third, the carrot cake was 1000% homemade and incredible. Everything else was awesome, also had the blue devil smoothie and it was fantastic. And the breakfast cocktails were totally reasonably low priced.

Google
Although the staff seemed to be having an off day, the AMAZING food made up for it! Their large menu has something for everyone, their greek couscous was my favorite side! The wide variety of seating: indoors, outdoors, roof top, and an enclosed roof top allows you to choose whatever environment suits you. The amount of food for the price was shockingly excellent. I will bring a group of people here for an event soon!

Google
One of the best places for breakfast/brunch around! They are usually busy but the service and food never disappoints. Especially the grits.

Google
An old gas station that was converted into a cool eatery. There is plenty of seating, indoors and out. Limited bar selection but enough to hit the classics like a mimosa or bloody mary. I loved the Sunrise mimosa! The staff was friendly and helpful. The food could have been better. It was a bit odd, but their wheat toast was amazing. It's a retro atmosphere with very diverse patrons and a laid-back vibe. We didn't have any issues, but you order and pay upfront and then take your seat. When we left, the line had gotten incredibly long and was moving super slow.

Nice place to go for breakfast and brunch. The food here is good. The waitresses are kind and helpful. They have good selection of choices there.

Yelp
We had a great Saturday brunch at Grub; we arrived at 10:15 and there wasn't much of a line (it's an order at the counter place), plus we got there in time to score a couple cinnamon rolls (they are big enough for two!). We were generally really pleased with the food--my husband got the corned beef hash bowl, which was delicious, I got the breakfast platter with a pancake, and my MIL got the regular breakfast platter. All of the meats (corned beef, bacon, pork sausage) were outstanding, the cheese grits were super cheesy and buttery, and my MIL's biscuit was great. The pancake was fluffy and moist. I liked that they use coffee ice cubes in their iced coffee beverages. My MIL and husband thought the cinnamon rolls could have used more cinnamon, but I was happy with them--they were still warm, super buttery and tender. We're from out of town and will keep Grub on our list when we travel through again.

Yelp
Very unique restaurant in the heart of Durham! Restaurant is order at the counter and an employee will bring you your food. I ordered the I've Been Chopped salad with honey balsamic vinaigrette dressing. The croutons were the best part because they're made from GRUB biscuits. Prices were very affordable too. The parking lot is SMALL so be prepared to possibly park on the street. The food was good, so I'd go again...but this place needs a good scrub because there were way too many flies inside.

Yelp
Great place right by Duke gardens and the south-point mall. They have beautiful seating outside on the rooftop! The food was light and filling at the same time it all tasted fresh and not greasy. The service for our food was pretty quick felt like we barely waited. It was a but confusing for our first time bot knowing we had to order at the entrance before choosing our own seating. Overall pretty good place for brunch!

Yelp
First time trying the Grub Durham. We came to for lunch and I was thrilled to see pancakes on the menu. Who doesn't like pancakes for lunch! Service was fairly quick with a small lunch crowd. I enjoyed the outside rooftop. Far as the food(3.5 stars), it was okay but nothing too special. I may have to come again and try one of the sandwiches on the menu.

Yelp
Just had brunch (family of 4) and this place was amazing! Very reasonably priced, attentive and kind staff, absolutely delicious food, and all around wonderful experience / atmosphere.

Yelp
Great brunch Second time I've been here and they make great brunch. Went for the rocket plate which was done right. Sausage was very juicy and taters are crispy. Added on a brioche cinnamon roll which was super soft. A tad sweet but I didn't mind.

Yelp
What a fun place! Huge, rooftop deck and fun ambiance. An obvious favorite spot for Duke folks, this place is a must visit. First, you stand in line and yes, there will be a line to order your food! Once you get your chance, you are greeted with that Durham charm sprinkled with a bit of sarcasm and wit... Love it! We sat and the food was brought to us quickly. I had the Mama's Big Bird with Greek Couscous. Two pounded out chicken filets, breaded and fried. House made pickles and bacon. Just lovely. Couscous was good as well, next time will opt for the slaw. My wife had the Gobble Down with potatoes. Exactly what she was looking for, delicious! Of course we had a bottle of wine, because why not!? Excellent stop for sure. Worth noting, they are known for their burgers and as I saw them go by, I could see why... Next time!

Yelp
Came for brunch on a Saturday morning. There was a line to order but it moved pretty quick. The food came out quick as well. I ordered The Rocket from the brunch menu. The eggs and potatoes were great but the turkey sausage was dry and bland. Overall, the food was good enough for the price, and I appreciated the quick service!
google avatar

Yelp
Cool place and vibe with delicious food! The smoothies were my favorite. It was cold outside but they had great outdoor seating with heat lamps so you could still sit outside comfortably.
google avatar

Rachel R.

Yelp
Might I say this is the best place the eat lunch in the triangle... A great atmosphere, welcoming staff, and huge menu. The prices are so fair it's almost not fair to Grub! The food was all fresh and yummy. The salad I had was something I'd come back for over and over. I can't wait to try this place for breakfast!! We look forward to coming back!

Yelp
As you walk in your greeted and haven a menu, the place is nice and has a rooftop seating area and downstairs bar, food was clean and healthy definitely organic ingredients being used which is great, service was alright, I would recommend this place solid 7.8/10 experience

Yelp
Brunch was delish! I had a 15-20min wait on Sunday morning at 11AM. You order at the counter and then seat yourself. There are a handful of parking spots onsite but plenty of street parking around the block. Friendly staff. An amazing chai latte. Loved the Best Bird Biscuit and the sweet pickles on it!! I can't wait to return to try more of their menu.

Bruce M.

Yelp
The food was impressive yet staff seemed disinterested in helping. This saddened me as the friend who took me had bragged about the place the last five years and when I finally get there... it was lacking.

Marcia D.

Yelp
Food is great! I like the fact you can eat inside or out under cover with your pet. Staff is always nice too!

Arnold S.

Yelp
The friendly folks that brought us Nosh (which will soon re-open on Broad Street). A fun atmosphere (in a former gas station). Creatively upgraded comfort food in generous portions. The brisket sandwich, made with thick slices of corned beef cured in house, and the meat loaf with mashed potatoes and crispy brussels sprouts, are personal favorites.

Pamela B.

Yelp
Did an excellent job redoing a gas station. Lots of outdoor, covered, heated seating. Order at a stand inside the front door and servers bring you your order as it comes up. The staff was pleasant and helpful. We got lucky and a batch of cinnamon rolls just came out of the oven. Usually they are sold out...we demolished it while we waited for our food. Grits are creamy and biscuits are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside!
google avatar

Lori J.

Yelp
Same opinion as the other low star reviews- waited in line 20 minutes and 20 more for food which wasn't even better than any other bfast sandwich. The bagels tasted like Thomas and I only got 1 piece of bacon. Don't get me wrong, the food was good but honestly not worth the wait and such. Other patrons saving seats while we stood in line forces people to not have a seat when they eat. You also don't get a server, but nothing is self serve so you have to get back in line if you need anything. They need to pick a lane (self serve or not). No complimentary water and we had to sit outside in the 95 degree summer heat wave

Yelp
Caveat, I'm not a huge breakfast person so take this review with a grain of salt. (Now there are a few restaurants I love for breakfast / brunch so I feel like I should be able to speak to this a little..) The good: cute environment - diner-ish vibe with nice patio space and rooftop area. Casual but fun vibe. There's enough room for bigger groups which is nice! I love the Chai latte - it's the vanilla kind so it's sweet and just what I like. The meh: sorry, the food. I've tried half a dozen things and just have not loved anything. It's all fine / decent - not bad at all. But just not great. Standard? Some stuff is a little salty.

Yelp
Love the relaxed and open venue. Friendly service and the food is just right. We had variations of the Slammer - eggs, protein, and fruit. Highly recommend

Yelp
Quaint eatery in Durham, great little vibe to this place. This is our second time eating here and it's delicious. Definitely will come back to enjoy more food here.

Yelp
Tried this place today for breakfast/brunch! As some other reviews mentioned, the chicken sandwich is small, and hard to eat (crumbly biscuit). But, I thought it was reasonable give the affordable price. I really liked my biscuit and smoothie here was pretty good too. My friend got the rocket plate, her grits were a bit bland. Not a ton of parking in the lot, but next to grub there is a street where allowed us to park in the shade along the road. Nothing fancy, but it's a cute place for a quick southern breakfast! Also wanted to add: They no long have brioche donuts!! Made me sad, but if you like cinnamon rolls they still have those and they are made from the same dough.

Spencer K.

Yelp
Starting off with a few things, the food was really good. I got an egg salad sandwich and Brunswick stew. The service was nice and quick, and the ambience was very chill. The one problem is the line went out the door and we waited for 15 minutes but other than that I like that place.

Yelp
Atmosphere: Grub Durham has nice seating on the inside and also a pretty balcony on the roof that is perfect for brunch on a sunny afternoon. There were some bugs in the balcony seating area, but they left us alone for the most part. We sat in a shaded area on the balcony, allowing us to feel the heat from outside while staying cool.  Service: There was a long line when we arrived, but it moved at a decent pace. The server was friendly and brought our food upstairs to our table.  Food: We ordered the Buckster's Hash Bowl and The Tiny with a side of scrambled eggs, as well as a School Bus Breakfast smoothie (strawberry and banana) and Greena Colada smoothie (spinach, mango, pineapple, banana). The Bucker's Hash Bowl was well-balanced in terms of the amount of potatoes, beef, and vegetables. Though the portion was small, it was definitely filling. The Tiny had great value and was rich in flavor from Grub's house-made peanut butter. The smoothies were fresh and not too sweet, which we appreciated.  Overall: We really enjoyed our experience at Grub and will come back in the future! The outdoor balcony seating is a great place to hang out and enjoy a casual brunch when the weather is nice. We've only been here for breakfast/brunch, but we'd love to try their dinner menu.

Yelp
Service was immaculate and the food was delicious. There are several seating options but my favorite was the roof top.

Yelp
I had the chicken with the butter bean corn salad for lunch on a sunny Friday afternoon. The sandwich and salad were delicious. The only downside is that parking is a difficult in this area. Lunch Mama 's Big Bird Lima Bean and Corn Salad

Yelp
Came back here again to try additional items and this amazing cinnamon roll. Again best I ever had! Tried and other biscuit sandwich. Which was also decent. Well, it happened again. I got My order wrong and ended up with and additional biscuit, which I did not ask for and was charged for. 1st time here, it was busy and a little loud. Mistakes happen. 2nd time different person taking my order, same situation. Again. Not a deal breaker. Just annoying and adds up in the end and not trying to ruin my experience bringing up this small issue. Again I recommend you check this place out. But docile check your order prior to swiping.

Yelp
First pic is of the lovely small bar they have ! You order your food and you pay up front . Very nice ambiance people are very nice and the service is great . Now waiting on your food is gonna be a minute ! It does have a lot of africans americans cooking so the food was wonderful and very soulful! Me and my fiance were so full ! We had some shots of don julio respasado (CHEAPEST SHOTS IN TOWN!) seriously ! and i had a carribean sunrise. Great ! Now for brunch we had the slammer comes with maple pepper bacon we added sausage, grits , eggs and he added home potatoes with a chocolate chip and strawberry pancake for me ! And i tell you it was very wonderful ! Everything was savory and on point ! We will be back We had an awesome time and i loved the experience. Very great ambiance and very great staff . We will be returning for more fun and drinks .

Yelp
Good food, lots of choices, plenty for the vegetarians in our family and a cool vibe--and they open early. Great Durham spot.

Yelp
This is a hard review because some things here are excellent. And I love the space with plenty of outdoor seating. And they don't add in surprise fees or even that terrible flip pad that prompts for a 25% tip at a walk-up counter (here, though, they do bring the food to you and bus the tables, so some tipping is in order). But .... the quality can vary widely. I love The Tiny, but sometimes is a beautiful, large open-face; sometimes it's a slapped-together merger banana and peanut butter sandwich. And if you're vegan, it's going to be hard. Only two real offerings - and one is only at dinner time. They charge $5 extra for an impossible burger (a Huge 50% mark-up). Then they charge $1 for oat milk (on a $3 coffee, so an additional 25% mark-up). And if you all for just a water, they charge you for a bottle of water without asking if that's what you want. So, buyer beware? But if you choose carefully, you should be good?

Yelp
This place looks really nice and has indoor seating along with rooftop and outdoor seating as well. The inside has a nice vibe and they play old classics. The staff is friendly and they have a parking lot too (you don't have to pay for street parking.) The prices are good and portions are great too. The bathrooms are gender neutral and the sign (attached in my review) in front of it was cute. Food: All the food is made to order which I love so you can customize it however. Also they have non-pork breakfast meat options which is a plus. The rocket plate was a simple and tasty breakfast! The pancakes were also fluffy and satisfying. The iced coffee had frozen coffee ice cubes which was such a cute touch and ensured your coffee would never taste watered down! The mocha latte was just okay. They had 3 different grits bowls: one with turkey sausage, one with beef brisket, and one veggie bowl. All of them looked appetizing on the menu. For mine I customized it and got aspects of every bowl: peppers, corn, cheese, spinach, Turkey sausage, etc. It was great! The roasted red pepper sauce that comes with the west end bowl is delicious by the way. The west end bowl was pretty good, 7/10. The cowgirl girl bowl looked great but seeing the brisket inside of it that looked soft and overcooked was not good and we ended up sending it back. I think the brisket should've been cooked crispier to ensure it would hold its flavor and texture in the bowl. Overall it's a cute breakfast spot and the lunch/dinner options looked good as well.

Yelp
Office ordered here for a working lunch today. We called ahead since we were having difficulty doing it online. I spoke with Carolyn and she was extremely helpful and pleasant, not to mention accurate as we had 8 lunches and everything came to us correct. I'm very happy with the service we received. And the food?!?! I had a really difficult time deciding what I wanted for lunch...there were so many items on the menu that sounded amazing, but I ultimately chose the Mama's Big Bird which was a fried chicken breast dipped in honey Sriracha with bacon (their bacon is OMG good!), homemade pickles, and gorgonzola. Needless to say I was very, VERY happy with my lunch. I really can't wait to go back and try everything else that appealed to me!

Kim T.

Yelp
I don't get it. The place was absolutely filthy, the food was sub-par at best, staff was rude, and I've never seen so many flies in my life. Between every bite, I was shooing the bugs off my plate. They allow animals which I can see that being a positive for some people but I'm completely repulsed by this. Getting there to park alone took 30 min. I was so disappointed and don't understand the higher ratings!! Ill also add I saw at least 3 other parties complaining that the order was wrong or that they completely forgot an order. No apologies issued to them! This didn't happen with our order but Inwas shocked at how many complaints I witnessed and not ONE apology from the staff.

Yelp
I wish I had pictures of my food from this place!! But I don't but it was soo good but the best part THAT CARROT CAKE !!! Omg s/o to who I assume is the owner/manager may seem who told us it was home made freshly baked Carrot and double chocolate cake! I would just go back for that! That California sunrise mimosa was also very good! Loved it will be back!

Yelp
OVERALL/WHAT TO KNOW: -High quality and delicious classic foods in a welcoming atmosphere -They get very busy during peak meal times so be prepared to wait in line. -The majority of the seating is outdoor and shaded, but still pretty hot in the summer. -Will definitely come back to try their lunch/dinner menu if I'm ever in town again. ARRIVAL: -I read about this place on multiple different websites with lists of good places to eat and good places for breakfast in Durham. -My partner and I came here for a late breakfast on a Friday morning in early June. -It was surprisingly busy for a weekday morning. There was a line out the door of people waiting to order. I'm not sure if it's typical, but it seemed they were only doing counter service. -We only had to wait about 10-15 minutes before we got to the front of the line to order. They gave us a number at the counter which we took to our table inside. FOOD/DRINK: -I had the iced coffee, cinnamon bun, and the Buckster's Hash Bowl. My partner had the Rocket Breakfast plate. -The cinnamon buns were huge and perfect. They were fresh, warm, soft, sweet, and with just enough icing. Truly just right. I was only surprised by their size because the woman who took our order asked how many I wanted so I assumed they might be small and ordered two only to find that each was almost as big as a softball. -The Buckster's hash bowl was absolutely delicious. Potatoes were the lightly fried, crispy kind. The corned beef was extra savory, not too salty, and cut into nice bite sized chunks that spread its flavor through the whole dish. The green onions, cheese, and tomato's tied everything together by adding some extra flavor to the bites without corned beef and some moisture to the dish as a whole. I also appreciated that the cheese was layered throughout the bowl rather than just on top. I also got it with an egg on top (an optional addition). I felt it would not have been quite as good without the egg's yolk acting as a savory solvent to the whole mixture. SERVICE: -The woman who took our orders at the cash register was very friendly and efficient as was the person who brought our food to our table. -When we arrived, it seemed like they only did counter service, but later I thought I saw one of the servers taking orders so I'm not sure. -We were given our cinnamon rolls right when we ordered, but did not get any silverware or anything. We thought it would be messy to eat with our hands and there were no other staff around so we took it upon ourselves to take some silverware and napkins from the server station by the kitchen. ATMOSPHERE/LAYOUT: -We got a table inside with the air conditioning. The inside was laid out a lot like a classic diner. There were a handful of two-top tables and chairs, a couple booths, and a lunch counter. -There is lots of Durham specific decorations and natural light from the big windows.

Yelp
Popular local spot so we wanted to try it. The way it works is you order your food then you pick a table and they bring it you you. We got there before the crowd. The prices aren't bad and it was a pretty basic menu. It had the normal staple breakfasts and a big coffee selection. The ambiance was nice and the staff was friendly.

Yelp
I think Grub is...fine. I like the neighborhood-quirky-comfy vibe. The coffee is...fine (wish it were in a real mug not a paper cup with a to go lid even though we were dining in). The food is...fine (other than the biscuits which are OUTSTANDING). The service is super nice although the line to order is slow...I think that's load management, they take orders at a measured pace so that the kitchen keeps up, at least that's my working theory. This could be my neighborhood place if I lived within walking distance but if the line got beyond a certain length I think I'd travel on. Grub is fine to a certain point.

Yelp
Pretty good brunch spot, went and picked up food on a Sunday. Make sure you try at least one cinnamon roll, too good. Staff was helpful with getting everything ordered - we needed a few extra items that made sense just to order a whole additional meal to get the best price. Breakfast platter was yummy. Cheese automatically come in the grits, so make sure to ask for it without if you don't want it. The biscuit we ordered was missing the mustard or whatever sauce went on it but it was still delicious. Def gonna try again.

Yelp
We ordered ahead and when we pulled up I knew we made a good decision because the line to order was out the door. They have rooftop seating which is always a plus for me. If you order in person, you place your order and pay, then receive a placard to put on your table and you get to pick your own seating. We had the burger and homemade chips and the chopped salad. They were both A-mazing! I would order them again. I saw someone with sweet potato fries and Mother of Troy those looked good! That chopped salad...yum. The croutons and bacon bits were just the right touch. I had the cilantro champagne vinaigrette with it and I'm not mad. Parking is right, have a back up plan (park on the street), down the road, etc. I think there were about 8-10 spots on their lot. Definitely will be back!

Yelp
Good fried mushroom sandwich (the "Townsend Bridge"). The soup was so so and the service questionable. All in all a good lunch though.

Yelp
Came here for a weekend lunch and it was pretty busy - we waited around 20 minutes to order. Food was super filling and burgers tasted just a little bit above average. Liked how they had a heater upstairs patio to keep us warm but there wasn't much a view. We tried the Tremendous Burger and Mama's Big Bird.

Sarah S.

Yelp
Love this breakfast spot. All the food is great, reasonably priced & has lots of gf options! Coffee is great as well. Parking can be a little difficult but we always find some.

Yelp
Notes: 1) went before COVID 2) order at front before sitting down 3) had TVs and a bar area 4) seemed more like a night bar Pros: 1) friendly service staff (+ 2) 2) decent amount of choices (+ 0.5) 3) food tasted pretty good (+ 1.5) 4) lots of tables and places to sit (+0.5) Cons: 1) bowls seem pretty simple in design 2) took some time to get our orders, even though there were not many other customers 3) food came out really really hot and was hard to eat 4) restaurant design was unique Total: 4.5/5 My friend and I got lazy in the morning and decided to go and get a quick brunch here. The restaurant itself looked pretty nice and had lots of space. When I walked in, the restaurant seemed to be more of a sports bar type deal with a bar and TVs. It was a pretty interesting place to go to for breakfast. My friend and I looked at the menu and ordered up front. I got the Buckster's Hash Bowl, and we went to sit down. Both my friend and I got water and waited for our meals. We sat and waited for some time for our meals to arrive. I didn't know that breakfast bowls with relatively simple ingredients such as eggs and potatoes would take over 30 minutes to make. However when the food did arrive, it was extremely hot. I would say that it was a bit too hot but that is not an issue. I did not know that the food was extremely hot so when I took a bite, my tongue got burned from the potatoes. However, this was not their fault. The biggest thing was the timing of our orders. The server did notice and came to chat us up and also to provide us with as much as he could to compensate for the delay. This was extremely nice of him as he was also managing new customers at the front. Once the food was a bit cooler, I ate it and it was pretty good. The design of the bowls were a good mix but it was a bit plain. My dish tasted like a ham and potato dish. I could not really taste the other flavors here. The potatoes really overwhelmed the dish as most of it was potatoes. I had to savor the taste of the meat as there was not enough to cover all of the potatoes in the dish. I would say that the food individually was good. The cheese was fresh and great. The potatoes were well seasoned and crispy. The meat was really good and strong enough to cover the taste of a few potatoes. Overall, the dish was good. If I went back, I definitely would have to try a different kind of dish and not a bowl. The food here might be fantastic and deserves a few tries before deciding!

Yelp
I've been to Grub Durham a handful of times throughout the past two years, and have never been disappointed. Most of the time I get a meat dish - we're in North Carolina, who wouldn't? The burgers / sandwiches are delicious, and each one has creatively chosen toppings. If you're looking for surf, I've liked the Barracuda. If you're looking for turf, I like the TREYmendous burger. You really can't go wrong. Anyways, the reason I'm finally writing this review is because last month I decided to give the shitake mushroom burger (Towson Bridge), and it was OUT OF THIS WORLD!! First of all, nothing beats a nice sriracha ranch on a buttery, toasted brioche. The beer batter on the shitake mushrooms was closer to a light Japanese tempura in that it did not leave me feeling like I was in a food coma after eating. The feta cheese comes in huge chunks that are a little overwhelming at first, but after taking a bite, it's the perfect amount of saltiness to pair with the mushrooms. Even the mixed greens felt like a nice addition to the dish thanks to the natural bitterness, rather than just being an afterthought like the lettuce you often see on burgers. This might seem like too many words to praise a veggie burger, but I assure you - give it a try, and you will not be disappointed. Good job, Grub Durham.

Yelp
I came in for lunch today craving something warm, hearty, and filling. I was torn between two sandwiches and the woman at the register recommended the Barracuda, which had fried cod, greens, salsa and a delicious cilantro aioli all on a brioche bun. It was exactly what I was looking for. I'd definitely come back to GRUB to sample their breakfast options-- the pancake my friend ordered looked yummy! Bonus points for the retro music and vibe.

Yelp
Food was delish, great heaters outside, so-so drinks. I got one of the entrees that have a variety of food including the biscuit which was a great choice. One of my friends got one of the bowls and felt like it wasn't as much food as the other dishes. The menu says they have a full bar so I ordered a French75. The bartender didn't know what that was so I probably shouldn't have ordered it, but she asked me what's in it and looked it up on goggle. The drink proportions were off and wasn't great but that was a lesson for me. So I recommend sticking with a mimosa!

Yelp
Although Grub is a cute and homey restaurant with nice outdoor and rooftop seating, I wouldn't say the food is phenomenal. I got the best bird biscuit with breakfast potatoes. The meal was on the cheaper side and service was extremely fast, but the quality of the food wasn't impressive. The chicken was fried well, but the biscuit completely crumbled within a few bites, and the overall taste was pretty average. I would recommend this place mainly for the cozy vibes and how affordable it is rather than for the quality of the food.

Yelp
A very cute, renovated gas station. We pulled up at GRUB on a Sunday morning around 9:30, we initially thought people were waiting to be seated but there is a super cute walk up window where you order your food and pay before finding a place to sit. We sat on the lower patio, which was comfortably spaced for social distancing. We waited in line to order for about 20-30 min but only waited about 10 min for our food. When our food arrived it looked amazing, the food tasted fresh and not overly seasoned or salted. The biscuits were soft and grits hot! A perfect southern breakfast!

Yelp
My first time here but will not be my last! After a LONG wait at the register to order the nice lady at the register helped me decide on the meatloaf dinner. Wow, it was served with some of the best Brussels sprouts I've had in a while and some Real mashed potatoes....not from a box! I would order it again but want to try some of the other unusual offerings they have. A small eat in area but lots of outdoor seating available. I will return!!

Yelp
YUM, YUM, YUMMYYYY!!! Ok so found this place while searching for the beat breakfast spots in Durham. It's a definite must-try! Due to COVID, my first experience (of entry) may differ from the other post. The seating is outside in front or upstairs on the patio. You order from this side window, with the sweetest blonde-haired lady. The menu is posted on the side but I highly suggest looking for pictures of the entrees online so you can see the goodness you're about to endure! I went with the slammer plate. It's a fluffy pancake with eggs cooked to your liking, a choice between meats (including turkey bacon), and a choice or grits or "taters". I chose the bacon and MY GOD those taters! I highly, HIGHLY suggest the taters. For my drink I went with the green coloada smoothie and a Arnold Palmer. My guest had the best biscuit with taters and an eclectic bottle of water. After ordering, you'll get a little stand with a number and someone will bring you your food. The food came out piping hot. My guest's biscuit was straight out the oven, the offered to make it with a sweet potato biscuit to cut the 6 mins wait however he opted to wait. My plate was so beautiful to my southern eyes. The taters were hot and seasoned and paired perfectly with my eggs over-medium. The pancake was light and fluffy and the maple peppered bacon was a perfect combination of crisp and flex (for my plate, my guest bacon could've used an extra 20 seconds). My guest biscuit was so fresh, he opted to use a knife and fork since it was falling apart. The smoothie was so refreshing, especially being that the weather was picking up heat. I wasn't a fan of the Arnold Palmer. I'm guessing that one of the ingredients whether it be the tea of lemonade, was made unsweetened. For the miscellanies, parking is limited. It's about 8 in the lot and I didn't see any options for street side parking. You could miss the turn of your using the GPS so keep your eyes peeled. Seating options were great (you choose it yourself lol) and the do social distanced. Downstairs is enclosed by some sort of plastic barrier which has pros/cons. All in all, will definitely come back!

Yelp
The food here is yummy! I especially like the breakfast bowl called Maggie's Veggie Bowl. There isn't much parking, though.
