Love this local eatery. There’s nothing like a local restaurant that offers great food. There’s service is prompt and the staff is very friendly. I love the Western omelette. It’s very tasty and perfect every time. Along with the omelette, I have a side of pork links, toast, and a glass of apple juice. Prices are very reasonable and the wait staff is worth a good tip for their excellent service. The restaurant features artwork, which you can purchase. It’s a great touch to the decor. The atmosphere is vibrant and inviting. From the dining area to the bathrooms, the place is very clean. I highly recommend Grumpy’s Cafe.

The place has a great vibe! The food is delicious. Had the tuna melt with house fries and a peach lemonade! Didn't see desserts on menu. The walls have paintings and arts from locals that you can purchase! Will definitely come back.

We went to Grumpy’s Café around 10:30 AM for breakfast with the family. The vibe was fun and the service was friendly, but the food didn’t quite hit the mark for us. I ordered the huevos rancheros, and the salsa just didn’t have any flavor or heat. The Carminator burrito was actually pretty good though. It had lots of veggies and a nice crunch that we all enjoyed. The kids got the Mickey Mouse pancakes, which were adorable, but they were kind of dry and didn’t come with enough butter. One of the main reasons we chose this spot was for lattes, but their machine was down that morning, so we ended up with regular coffee, which wasn’t anything special. Overall, it was an okay experience, but I don’t think we’d come back for breakfast. The food was just average and the missing latte was kind of a letdown.

Grumpy's Cafe has a lot to offer! The atmosphere is truly fantastic—I absolutely love the local artwork, which adds so much character and charm to the space. As for the food, the flavors were great, and it had the potential to be a five-star meal. However, having the cheese on top instead of inside the omelette caused all the toppings to fall out, making it a bit messy to eat. A small adjustment could make a big difference! Service was where things fell a bit short. We weren’t offered refills, and at one point, the server attempted to take my plate while I was still actively eating. A little more attentiveness would go a long way in enhancing the dining experience. Overall, Grumpy’s has a wonderful atmosphere, good food, and a lot of potential for an even better experience with a few tweaks.

It's breakfast time again, and Grumpy's is at the top of everyone's list. I decided to find out why. My mother and I decided to give it a try. The first thing I noticed was the extensive gluten-free options. My wife is GF, and I could appreciate it on her behalf. I ordered the corned beef hash with a side biscuit and gravy. What I can say is I'm impressed it was made from real corned beef, and it was not mush from a can. That being said, it was a little too dry for my liking. It was also very simple, just corned beef and potatoes. Nothing exciting or groundbreaking. The biscuit and gravy were also good, but nothing to give accolades about. Definitely not the best in town as some people have described. My mother got a French toast breakfast. As you can see from the pictures, it's just a French toast breakfast. Good, but exactly what you would expect. The sausage was a little overcooked and hard, but some restaurants don't know about the steam method. Perhaps it's done by choice. Overall, it was a nice breakfast. I'd come back again, but then again, we liked Lucky's better.

The food here is great. The waitstaff were nice. The atmosphere is pleasant and peaceful. Everything was clean and neat. I had the corned beef hash with Cajun potatoes and my husband had the chicken salad sandwich with the Cajun potatoes.I recommend this place and I’ll be back ( for the fourth time😂). Be sure and get the drink of the the day made by Kim. Thank me later❤️

We stopped in to Grumpy's for breakfast on our way out from visiting Cleveland. The location is nice with on-site parking, which is easy and convenient for diners. The decor is fun to look at with lots of artwork available for purchase on the walls. The service was fast, efficient, and friendly. The food was hot and tasty. I ordered the Sausage Gravy Benedict, and my wife ordered the breakfast burrito, and we were both satisfied and ready for our drive home.

We stayed in Cleveland for one day after some time in Columbus, eager to experience something special. Our visit to Grumpy's, fueled by great reviews, was nothing short of fulfilling. This charming café showcases vibrant artwork celebrating the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, creating an atmosphere brimming with creativity. The service was exceptional and lighthearted! My wife savored her Pulled Pork Boxty, a true signature favorite that delighted her palate with its house-marinated pulled pork on a potato pancake, slaw, cheddar, and a drizzle of chipotle BBQ. My youngest daughter (11) relished the Meatloaf Melt, featuring Grumpy's meatloaf on house-baked grilled rye with Swiss cheese and a side of gravy—comfort food that warmed her heart. I chose the Fancy Schmancy Burger, a remarkable creation that left me in awe. With a 1/2 lb. beef burger topped with generous strips of bacon, Swiss and cheddar cheese, and a dippy egg on a pretzel bun, it was a feast worth celebrating! Lastly, my oldest daughter (13), a true mac and cheese aficionado, found joy in Grumpy's version, her second favorite ever! The "Make Your Mac" option, with cavatappi noodles in a rich cheddar-parm cream sauce and her choice of chicken and bacon, brought her immense happiness. Each dish reminded us that culinary experiences can be both delicious and uplifting!

Yelp
Parking is easy. Service is outstanding (in my experience). Food is super delicious. Coffee is good and hot. They support and showcase local artists, so the restaurant is filled with interesting and buyable pieces. Fun to look at. It can feel a tad noisy, but it's not deal-breaker level by any means. Prices are very reasonable; portions are great. If you're in Cleveland, dining here is definitely a no-brainer. Go and enjoy!

Yelp
4 minute drive from MetroHealth Main Campus, so a perfect post-doc visit spot. I remember loving this place a few years back and was super excited to try it again. The place is super cozy and gives off a really homey vibe. They have a big adjoining parking lot, so parking isn't a problem, even though they are usually pretty busy. We were seated quickly and service was great. Got coffee and water right away and ordered within like 5 minutes. I remember really enjoying a pancake the last time I was there, so I was excited to get another one. I couldn't remember the flavor, but remembered it was something seasonal. This time I got the cinnamon roll pancake and was pretty disappointed. It wasn't sweet and was kind of cold. I think they may make their pancakes with cornmeal or something more cake-like. Whatever it is, it wasn't very good or fluffy like most others. I got the egg skillet with tomatoes, mushrooms, and spinach. The veggies that comes with it were broccoli, carrots, and red cabbage all mixed together. Nothing that I would typically put in a breakfast bowl, so I swapped them out for the other veggies that the server mentioned and was a little surprised to be charged .50 for each. I also got an order of turkey sausage which I thought would be an additional $1 from the way it was listed on the menu, but it was $5. The bowl was really tasty and their cajun home fries are delicious. My mom got the biscuits and gravy, which were just fine. There wasn't much sausage meat in the gravy and it was a bit thick IMO. The biscuit was also just okay. I don't think we'd try that again, but would return for another good breakfast in a cozy spot. The waffles looked amazing. I'll definitely get that next time, instead of the pancake.

Yelp
i almost dont feel like i should post a review; those who know flock to this Cleveland original incessantly, those who dont, well... you can just stop by a "First Watch". Real Good food, made delicious because they know what they're doing; son & I got a few "brunch" items you can never go wrong with here; eggs Benedict, homemade hash, Breakfast Burrito . The Ambiance is true Cleveland, a melting pot & cross section of anyone & everyone who bothers to go out for brunch... The service could be slow, on a busy Sunday morning, but it wasn't ! Excellent, friendly, and attentive , our waitress was fantastic. Hot Tip: check out the seasonal offerings, they dont disappoint !

Yelp
This place gives classic diner vibes and has a great breakfast to match. The pancakes were my favorite and I don't usually care for restaurant pancakes. They have a parking lot. Service was friendly and fast. We really had a nice time!

Yelp
Found this little gem while visiting the area a few months back. The decor is very unique and looked like it was a favorite for the locals. We met friends while we were on a mini Dave Matthews Band Tour that ended with us meeting up at the Rock en Roll Hall of Fame and the Christmas Story house. We didn't realize some places close for a few hours between lunch and dinner but found Grumpy was thankfully open. We had a nice lunch before heading back home to Buffalo and them to Pittsburgh. Hope to return some day!

Yelp
Was visiting some friends in Ohio and everyone said that Grumpy's was a must try! It was pretty busy as we arrived and my mouth was wateringgg in anticipation of an amazing meal. Unfortunately, I was left quite disappointed by the experience. Our food took a very long time to come out, around an hour from seating to entrees being presented. The server noted that they had recently started taking Uber Eats/Doordash orders and the growing pains were apparent. Once our food did come it was cold and just left a lot to be desired. Not the greatest first impression of what I'm sure is an amazing restaurant! I'm excited to try Grumpy's again after they work out some of these kinks. Despite the challenges, one of the clear highlights was the service. You really can't ask for more than that Midwest hospitality!

Yelp
Food was awesome and the service was great everyone was friendly and helpful the ambiance was good too warm and comfortable. I highly recommend this place for breakfast. On site parking too.

Yelp
Great all American breakfast dinner. Very affordable with all your traditional breakfast options. Staff and service were great. It is a small restaurant. They accommodated our party of 7 but it was tight. Also it is very warm in the restaurant (it was 90 degree out). Not sure if they had AC. Another bonus is that the restaurant has a parking lot beside it that is free to customers.
google avatar

David J.

Yelp
Grumpy's Cafe is overhyped, in my opinion, and I'm sorry. It has a public-paid parking lot. A party of 5 waited for 45 minutes. They do a text message. The inside is jam-packed, with not much room for guests to move around. Tables are placed together, so conversations are difficult, and it's loud. The menu is vast, so there is pretty much something for everyone. Breakfast seems to be what they are best known for. Everyone in my party ordered breakfast; they all said it was standard country-type breakfast. I was the outlier and ordered Grumpy's Meatloaf from the bowl area of the menu. The meatloaf was served on a plate with mashed potatoes and covered with brown gravy. The meatloaf itself was very rosemary-heavy. The coffee is served hot and fresh, but it's standard and nothing exciting. If you go here, your best bet is to order the breakfast unless you love rosemary-flavored meatloaf covered in brown gravy served in a loud restaurant.

Yelp
I love Grumpys, been many time and have never been disappointed. It's a little small yet somehow big, the staff is well educated on the menu if you have questions. It's cute and gives a homey feel while you're there. It's a place you wanna go because you just know the food will be good and it always is.

Yelp
Delicious American brunch here! It gets very busy, so be prepared for a wait. I got the Grumpy's combo, which was great because I could do both savory and sweet! I chose the Apple french Toast, which was a little disappointing. The toast came with apples marinated on the side (I was picturing a French Toast version of apple pie or something). The service of the place was great, and they have outdoor seating as an option. Overall, I had a great experience here! Definitely try this out.
google avatar

MaKenzie R.

Yelp
Very yummy! Lots of food and very filling! The staff was very welcoming and helpful! The ambiance was really cool and almost like you were eating in an art gallery. The Cajun potatoes were clutch.
google avatar

Yelp
I have dined at Grumpy's several times over the years and it's always a really good experience. The menu has such a variety. It is difficult to choose your meal. The staff is always friendly and the food comes out quickly. The portions are large so please come hungry. Grumpy's is a staple in the Tremont area, so come try it out.
google avatar

Julie D.

Yelp
I've been to Grumpy's a few times and it has always been a pleasure. The service is quick and attentive. The food is well priced and has very filling portions. All the options sound so good so it can be hard to make a decision! I love the "at home" feel they shave and it's great that they showcase local artists on the walls. Can't wait to visit again!
google avatar

Yelp
Such a cute little place! Local artwork for sale on the walls, small cozy feel, love the mix of mugs for coffee. Food was fast and delicious!!!! Super friendly staff!

Yelp
Really good food. Love the crispy French toast. Chicken chorizo is a great alternative to pork which I love. It's super spicy though. Great corn beef hash ! Great specials. Wish the coffee was better. I think it's preset machine. Our waitress was Maria she was sweet as pie.

Yelp
Solid brunch choice in Tremont! They have a parking lot which is awesome, and service was fast. We were told it would be a 30 minute wait for our party of two at 11am on Saturday but the wait only ended up being about 15 minutes or so. We sat at the counter. I ordered the Jefferson omelet and my friend got the veggie omelet and they came out hot and fast! Both came with a side of their Cajun potatoes and toast (Italian, wheat, or rye) and had real vegetables inside, which is the only way for me. Tasty omelets without any pomp and circumstance, we had a good experience. Thank you, Grumpy's!

Yelp
Nice little restaurant in Tremont. We looked up the best breakfast in Cleveland and this was number one on the list so we had to try it out. It was crowded when we got there around 10 am, but with two of us, we did not have to wait more than a few minutes. We got a very nice table and had a great server. Food was very delicious and was a little slow to arrive, but obviously with the number of people that was to be expected. Overall would highly recommend and will be back next time we are in town.

Yelp
Grumpy's Cafe is a Cleveland institution and is very busy for a good reason - it has pretty good brunch food and a great vibe! They don't take reservations but since there were only two of us and were flexible on where we would sit, we only waited 5 minutes to be seated on a busy Sunday morning. The interior is cute and offers unique art for sale. The service was impeccable. Our waitress was kind and attentive and always on hand to refill our coffee cups. I ordered an egg white Western omelette with a side of Italian toast and home fries. The slices of American cheese on top was kind of yucky and downgraded the quality of my western egg white omelette. I now know better for next time to ask for it to be taken off. Also, my Italian toast was just unnecessarily drenched in butter. The home fries and the contents inside the omelette were very yummy. No complaints there. Also, the prices are reasonable and the egg white upcharge wasn't insane. It's a great place to catch up with friends, grab a meal after church, or do some good 'ol fashioned people watching!

Yelp
Solid brunch option in Cleveland! Stopped by here on a weekend and enjoyed their brunch service. I was excited to dine here since I've heard great things about their brunch. The restaurant is very busy, but we were a small group so seated within 30 minutes on a busy Saturday morning. Our server was attentive and helpful with explaining the menu. Service was pretty fast despite it being a busy weekend morning. Grumpy's has a ton of vegetarian brunch options which was nice. I tried the Huevos Rancheros. It was flavorful and well seasoned. The home fries were crispy and delicious. Parking is fairly easy since they have their own lot. While the restaurant didn't blow my expectations out of the water, it was a great meal and a reliable Cleveland brunch spot!

Yelp
Love this place! Amazing brunch options to choose from, very cool atmosphere with random and cool decor and the food is simply delicious!!

Yelp
The locals speak very highly of this restaurant. Went here for brunch with my friends (a group of 4). The place is BYOB so that was a great vibe. As is their normal the place is very busy. We got there in perfect timing. It was only a ten minute wait for us. The hostess and servers were all welcoming and warm. It is very obvious that we were from out of town but they treated us with respect. The ambiance gives upbeat artistic dinner. There is art work all over the walls and even in the bathroom. We ordered the sausage and gravy Benedict, pull pork Benedict, and 2 grumpys special. The grumpys special includes eggs, choice of meat, cajun home fries, toast. The pork belly Benedict included Poached eggs over house-marinated pulled pork & kraut topped w/ hollandaise sauce & sriracha on toasted english muffin. Served w/cajun home fries. The sausage and gravy Benedict includes Poached eggs over turkey sausage patties topped w/ sausage gravy on toasted english muffin. Served w/ cajun home fries. The food was a bit subpar only because it was served to us cold. We unfortunately had to wait an hour after ordering to receive our food. The place is busy and the server noted that they are beginning to integrate delivery which slows the kitchen down. It's something to keep in mind. I want to revisit to get the true experience of the place and see what the locals see.

Yelp
We were seated fast, had friendly service, and the food was good! We'd go back if we lived in Cleveland!

Jdot S.

Yelp
Standard but cute and cozy brunch spot. I got the Walker Hash and it was filling and good. They don't have alternative milks for their lattes but the black coffee was smooth. Appreciated the friendly service.
google avatar

Matt R.

Yelp
Grumpy is a classic in the area. Consistently good diner style brunch. The service is always friendly and the ambiance is always cozy. Always reccomend
google avatar

Jpb T.

Yelp
Grumpy's participates in the Too Good to Go program. The bacon was nice and THICK and the egg was cooked just right. The picture of the menu and hours are from July of 2024. They are open daily 7AM to 3PM. GREAT location right around the corner from Lincoln Park in the middle of Tremont.
google avatar

Katrina H.

Yelp
Was so excited to try this place super busy 30 min wait. Tables are super tight and close. What a shame our server was a little grumpy at Grumpy's but we didn't let that sway our opinion about the food! I ordered the Porky omelette with a side of corned beef hash. We also had the Grumpy's Special with French Toast. The omelette was just okay not a ton of flavors in the pork mostly covered with sauce. My guest liked the special, I'll give them another try and order something different for next time.

Yelp
Every time I come to Grumpy's the food is tasty, fresh and satisfying. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. It's always jumping, in a good way, at Grumpy's! L o v e.

Yelp
Visiting Cleveland we went based off of the reviews & they were right-- delicious breakfast + welcoming staff. Very cozy spot, always busy! We visited twice back to back. That's how good it is. The 1st time I had the classic eggs Benedict, husb had W14, side of bacon. Along w coffee. Both of us loved our plates, bacon a bit too tough tho. The W14th came with the BEST corned beef hash ever!! Went back the 2nd time, I ordered the classic scrambled eggs with toast, sausage ((very tough like rubber)) & side of corned beef hash ((obv!)) & husb had biscuits & gravy & thoroughly ravished it! The staff were warm, patient. The decor is eclectic with artwork ready for purchase if one so desires. I absolutely love this place & it'll be in our rotation.

Yelp
Philly Cheesesteak was a HIT!!! James also held it down, great recs and even better customer service. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
Solid spot to grab breakfast in CLE. We came on a Friday morning and we were seated right away. It's a small, intimate diner with a classic breakfast menu. Service is fast, friendly and efficient. I got a classic breakfast of scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon and toast. Overall, the food is average and there wasn't anything that "wowed" me, hence the average 3 star rating. I would say this is a very family friendly place. My 1 year old niece was crying a big chunk of the time we were here and it didn't seem to phase anyone (staff or other diners). So something to note if you have little ones. I would go back, but it wouldn't be my first option for breakfast in CLE. But definitely glad I tried it out since I really like the Tremont area.
google avatar

Shelly C.

Yelp
Grumpy is a classic breakfast place that displays works by local artists. The breakfast food is excellent. They now even have gluten free pancakes! There are plain and cinnamon - cinnamon ones were very good. The coffee is good, I got the flavored Peppermint kind (seasonal flavors change) it's a big cup, but it's $5, which is expensive for coffee. Much better than typical diner coffee tho. The portions are "normal" and you won't go away hungry. It's a bright and cheerful spot with cool decor and really friendly staff. I recommend trying it for breakfast, brunch or lunch!

Tim J.

Yelp
The parking lot is packed evertime i go by so i figure gotta be decent. Inside is dated, old loud and dirty. Place was very busy, we both orderd pancakes and they came out in 2 minutes flat, bad sign. They were fat undercooked with a crispy top what fuck is up with that. They come with a side of potato's that aren't really cooked just covered in some slimey spice that runs into the cripsy pancakes that makes want you want to barf. The waitress was nice and the coffee was good.

Tubbed Z.

Yelp
Food was well made and the service was great. The cafe is very clean and kept tidy. The atmosphere feels very cozy, not trendy or loud.

Yelp
Great breakfast nice portions and quick friendly service!!!! Just a bit pricey but we would definitely go back!

Yelp
Grumpy's is absolutely amazing. Food is delicious and the service is fantastic. I usually get the veggie omelette which is very fresh and cooked just right. And I LOVE the Cajun home fries. I'll be back soon.

Leslie L.

Yelp
Adorable restaurant with lots of local art on the walls. The seats are close so be prepared for that. The staff is wonderful! They were kind, helpful and efficient. The food was delicious. Best hash browns I've ever had. The sausage and gravy was amazing and not too salty. The biscuits were perfection. Definitely don't miss eating here.

Joe W.

Yelp
Classic diner food with a fun old school vibe. Friendly staff and usually a long line unless you go off hours. They are also almost always open (most holidays besides thanksgiving/Christmas). If you are looking for a classic scramble, toast, hash, and some sausage/bacon breakfast, go here. Good food and good portions.
google avatar

Chengru L.

Yelp
Solid spot for some brunch. It looks very popular but we only had a 15 minute wait. I got an iced coffee but it tasted very watered down. The sausage Benedict was very yummy and definitely hit the spot. Our waitress was also very nice. It's hard to find a brunch spot open on Mondays so this was the perfect option.

Charles F.

Yelp
Wow, Grumpy's cafe is an amazing diner with wonderful food that has great taste. The service is pretty quick and the servers are friendly and knowing of the menu. The restaurant is very homey and cozy with a great representation of Cleveland there was art made by the community on the walls for sale and I think Grumpys is well deserving of a five star rating.
google avatar

Patrick C.

Yelp
Excellent breakfast , coffee and service! Grumpy's never disappoints. Great atmosphere.
google avatar

Jason B.

Yelp
Had breakfast here this morning and everyone was very nice, the service was great, the food good and served quick. Will be back.

Bill K.

Yelp
Exceptional food and service! I found most of my favorite entrees on the menu with some special additions. The seasonings are a bit different from the regular diner fare which I found absolutely delicious! (Corned beef hash is a must try, allspice maybe?) Server was friendly, and attentive, atmosphere very comfortable, clean and welcoming. I will be back! Oh, they have their own parking lot which is very rare in the area!

Erik R.

Yelp
For a 'locals favorite' Way overrated imo. Their signature hash could have been from a can...I'm not certain. Wife's veggie omelette was raw veggies. Kiddos liked French toast so there's that.
google avatar

Vivian H.

Yelp
This is undoubtedly a very safe place to come if you're seeking out a cozy, delicious brunch in the heart of Tremont. You simply cannot go wrong with any of the dishes here. It's obviously a very popular location and while the cafe isn't small, it gets packed quick and there is typically always a wait time during peak hours. However, there is nothing special about this and there are definitely other classic brunch spots around Cleveland that trump Grumpy's. We had a great time here, received great service, but in terms of hitting our short list of brunch locations in Cleveland, it missed its mark.
google avatar

Yelp
It was easy to park in their lot and we liked that their menu had a variety of options. Service was nice and the interior of the place felt homey. They had art by local artists displayed on the wall and mismatched thrift store coffee mugs. The food and coffee were good and hot. We left satisfied and happy.
