I was there for a class reunion. I don't drink alcohol, but I did get food and soda. The Reuben sandwich was great and sevice was quick. Sherly was serving most of our group. Casual group outside in tge patio area.

(Relax ladies, he’s married—I’m just giving credit where it’s due.) He’s got that perfect balance of chill and charm that sets the tone for the whole place. I love him to death and truly the reason I’m a loyal patron. The vibe he’s created is what keeps locals and loyalists coming back, including yours truly. And when it gets busy? Even the kitchen staff pops out to help—yes, the back house hustles with a smile. That’s family energy. Grunions is the only Manhattan Beach spot I’ll genuinely miss when I move to Oahu. So if you’re smart, you’ll pull up, order whatever’s on special, nod at Rob and savor the hell out of it.

Ok this place is a little scary on the cleanliness part. Dirty bar top, dirty floors and dirty tables. The bartender talked about how she drank too much. Was friendly but not very much a go getter by any means. In complete contrast the food was hot and tasty. Although I didn't peek into the kitchen to see how clean it was. Ultimately, the food was good and the bar a dirty dive bar. So if that floats your boat give it a try.

Love this Hidden Gem of the South Bay! The owner, Rob, is by far the nicest guy you could possibly meet. He is amazing! There are plenty of seats and TVs to see any media event. This is my Go-to- "the big game" bar!!!

Waited over 20 minutes after getting 2 sodas. No one came to take the food order. Went up to the bar to pay for the drinks then I'm asked if we want to order. Upon asking for a manager, I was told there wasn't one and she was the only one working. No one sitting at the bar had to wait to get their drinks poured. She had a bad attitude.

Seriously, the worst service. Two “bartenders” sitting at a table while all the bar guests had empty drinks and waiting to pay to leave. What a joke. Glad the food is good.

I feel lucky to have stumbled upon this dive bar one afternoon. I had the pleasure of being greeted by a friendly bartender/waitress named Arielle, who suggested a refreshing beer on tap while I was try to decide on my to-go entree. She described several menu items for me. I ended up choosing the Hickory Burger. The burger was delicious. Classic quarter pounder with fresh lettuce, pickles, tomatoes - topped with onion rings and barbecue sauce. No complaints from me.

I came to grunions because there was an off the menu item being offered. I got a Kona and the blackened chicken sandwich (OTM item) and was presently surprised that it was super tasty and filling. The fries were just okay. This is a casual bar and was relatively packed inside with people watching sports. I sat in the back patio which is spacious with corn hole and tv screens as well.

Visiting from Houston - hotel concierge suggested this cute neighborhood sports bar for a quick bite. Nice size bar and plenty of seating. Nice menu. The cook brought my order out and had a shot with the locals.

"Grunions is your typical sports bar, but my experience was a bit mixed. The food was pretty standard--nothing special, just your usual American bar food. What stood out most was the service at the bar, which wasn't the best. It took me over 10 minutes to get a server's attention, and the women behind the bar didn't seem very friendly at all very rude actually. I was surprised to see kids allowed in the dining area, which isn't something you see at most bars. Despite the service, the crowd was great and made the experience enjoyable when watching sport games. I just wish the staff had been a bit more pleasant."

Walking Manhattan Beach area and didn't want to go down to the beach. I was also hoping to catch some NFL preseason while out. Grunions is hard to spot from the road which is probably why it's a locals dive. Was greeted by nice bar staff and got down to business. If your hungover and want to glaze your stomach for round two this is your joint. It's bar fare with some notable local flare. Had the Cali Cheesesteak and a bowl of chili. The chili was pretty good and the cheese steak hit the spot but a tad greasy. That's hard to prevent though. Overall a good spot to watch a game, see the local crowd, and get some nice local craft beers with a shot.

Came in on a Wednesday night for a burger and beers. Sat at a table and waited a bit but no one showed up to acknowledge me or ask if I wanted anything. Eventually I walked up to the bar where the bartender was and asked for a beer . She told me to go sit back down and she would come over when she could because she was very busy and was the only one working. I sat back down, but it was in my car. I don't pay to be treated this rudely by anyone, much less by the bartender working that night. She didn't look busy to me, as she had time to talk with others who were seated at the bar.

Happened to be at the UPS when I looked up restaurants- saw Grunions. Thought it looked like a cool dive bar, so I decided to go, order dinner, and maybe have a drink. Parked. Sat down at the bar. The place was not super busy at all. Grabbed myself a menu, no biggie, decided on the Ruben and a neat bourbon. Waited. Bartender walks near me- doesn't acknowledge me or say just a sec, be right with you. Another young lady walks near me, also no acknowledgment. I sit. I wait. Notice the place must be family owned given the age of one of the employees- I've worked in family owned restaurants, I get it. Nice :) Play on my phone. Wait. Decided to leave. If your staff can't even take a moment to make eye contact and hold up the universal "one minute" finger, or even mouth "be right with you".... ANYTHING to let me know that you've seen me and will get to me when you can, then you're not interested in my business. Now I'm down at El Gringo- was greeted, seated, and had my food before I even finished my review. I have zero intention of giving you a second chance- take this as a lesson on customer service for future new customers.

It kills me to say this as this used to be a favorite spot to watch sports, grab some food, meet friends and my wife loved it too. Food is still good but the service is horrible. Slow and indifferent waitstaff and for some reason they got rid of all brand name beers and such. I am guessing the old owner (Greek Guy) sold the place. Won't be back.

I really liked the vibe in this place. The customer service was awesome right from the start. As soon as we walked in, we are greeted by a server/bartender. Told us we can sit wherever we liked and they would be with us as soon as possible. It is very local and seems like it has been around for quite a long time judging by the pictures on the walls. The bartenders along with the locals were very friendly and welcoming.. Has a great beer and drink collection. I enjoyed a burger, with buffalo wings, and a side of onion rings. All delicious. I highly recommend this place for anyone who likes local divey bar and grills.

First, know that I typically love this place. It's got that "cheer, everyone knows your name" vibe. It's an old haunt of mine and I still love to stop in every now and then for my favorite hand breaded beer battered chicken tenders, or to catch a game. Today the bar was half full and only one other table sat. There were two bartenders working the bar/waitressing on a Saturday after I grabbed a menu and sat at a table and paroozed the menu for distraction, knowing what I was there for. Even though I was craving the tenders, I left after the 13 minutes from the time I started actually counting, so probably about 18 -20 minutes, with no acknowledgement or being asked what I'd like to order, or even we'll be right with you. Now I know I could walk up to the bar place my order and do it that way, but I could tell when I saw the bartenders/waitresses starting to take shots it would be another ten minutes or so before I even got acknowledged. And I'm sure they'd probably forget to bring my order out. So disappointed. And I love this place, I truly do. There food is consistently good, good vibes but today is the second time I've come in recently and the service lacked. Today they were just so off in the customer service side of business. Maybe next time I can get some service.

I've been coming here since I was a little girl and the food is always amazing! Today I went in with my fiancé for lunch to share the ruben and baja cheese steak I high recommend them both!! Sherly the lovely bartender is amazing and shout out to the owner Robert for keeping this staple going strong!

My go to place to meet friends to watch a ballgame, have a pitcher or three and some pretty good tavern food. My favorites are the chicken tenders and onion ring/fry basket.

Grunions is an institution in MB but we just started coming here recently. We do like that the atmosphere here is very chill and the vibe is more older, so take it for what it's worth. If you're expecting something more vibrant, then there's always Sharkeez :-) Bartenders here are cool, food is pretty decent for a grill and the pours are good. What's not to like!

Huge fan of the food, however the bartendar today long wavy hair with shorts was polishing her nails WHILE ON SHIFT. I saw her walk out from behind the bar, go to a table where the bag of polishes were at and started polishing her nails...all while on the owner's dime! It bothered me even more when I got a whiff of the polish while eating! Look, i'm a huge fan of casual, fun atmospheres but is just...not caring. This bartender is not taking her job seriously. I wonder if the owner knows this goes on while shes on the clock!

Unexpected phenomenal food. The service from our bartender made me feel comfortable and at ease. Right at home. The ambiance is real chill, local, and upbeat. Zero pretences, just a good time.

Update to my previous review because (1) I brought a friend with me the last time I came and even though Rob wasn't working he LOVED the food (not the drinks so much) and ended up texting me today saying he went by himself! He ordered the chicken tenders, quesadilla and margarita. This updated review is because I really appreciate introducing friends to a neighborhood treasure like Grunions. But trust me, you want to go when Rob is working.

Wanted to stop in watch a little football grab a beer grab some food 15 minutes sitting at the bar did not get acknowledged by three waitresses this place has gone downhill! Ended up leaving their loss because we had about seven friends showing up for football later we're all going somewhere else now

Great atmosphere. Wonderful staff. Had the pleasure to meet Dylan, the bartender - wonderfully warm and friendly guy who went out of his way to make sure our visit was a pleasant one. You are absolutely in good hands coming here. Another party at the bar was trying to make us feel uncomfortable but Dylan and staff made sure we felt at ease and enjoyed our stay. I'd say he went out of his way to make us feel comfortable - so thankful to have met him. I can't remember having such proactively kind and thoughtful service. Plus the food was great!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

2 stars for the food. Meh service. The girl behind the bar couldn't have been less welcoming. I walked in @7pm on a Sunday night to find about 3 parties of 2-5 people each scattered and no one was wearing mask, and neither was the bartender girl... I initially intended to order the OTM app offer for a blackened chicken sandwich and add on the grunion onion rings as well as try their beer on tap. But after I was barely greeted by the bartender who saw me walk in but ignored me and turned her back to me to chat with a party of 3 seated at the bar... and actually one lady in that party told her "hey (pointing at me)" -- ugh. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. First and last visit. I wouldn't even try to guess why I was ignored or treated as such.

Im just mad at myself for never even coming here . Friend recommend it for a quick beer and late lunch spot This has been the most fresh and tasty bar food I have ever had ! Craft beer selection on draft is amazing too Will be coming again

Great people, great food. Definitely a local spot where everyone knows each other. Rob is a great owner and the bartenders are awesome. Only knock I have is the lead bartender Kelsey has a bunch of weird bumper stickers on her car.

Great sports bar until the staff's friends show up at night and the music gets louder and louder and heavy rap. Really...a song about a "wet ass pussy! ". So distracting from any game you may want to watch. And definitely turning people away. Bummer. Staff brings out a beer bong for their friends to do. Seriously? Is this Cabo Wabo! Like college. And only 12 people in the place. Used to be a great crowded locals spot.

Met with my Westchester friends today. It was a good time for all & the bar grub & beer were the icing on the cake. We're all friends for over 50 Years & get together every 6/7 weeks all over SoCal. Only three of us live in the South Bay. One lives in Pasadena, one in Vista, North San Diego & one in Riverside. So every time we meet it's at a different location in a different city. It was Mike. B's turn & he picked this great little spot. If your ever in the area, stop by...

I went there twice in one month and on each occasion they submitted a charge to my credit card that was $.90 more than what i wrote on my receipt, which i know was correct because i know the percentage of tip i always use. I called and spoke to the owner, Robert who took all the info and said he'd get back to me, which he never did. they would rather lose a customer than give up $1.80.

Probably some of the best fried bar food I had since I move to the US! Place: large, spacious, on the old side. lot of regulars, older folks. Music is not too loud, lot of old time rock'n'roll playing. The bartender was the nicest and coolest guy. Pouring very solid cheap drinks and giving good recommendation for food. The food... well, I ordered the sampler platter, it could easily feed 2, maybe 3 persons. Each item was GREAT (okay maybe not the quesadilla that was just very regular/bland) The zucchinis were fresh, hand beer battered. That was my favorite item, perfect to dip in a bit of salsa. The chicken tenders...the best tenders I had in a long while! Again, freshly hand battered, those were delicious nothing to see with the frozen ones you get in most dive bars. That was excellent. Chicken wings? I personally never eat buffalo but those were so delicious that I actually has 2 wings! The best was...the home made chili. No canned beans in that one. perfectly seasoned, tasted so fresh. I had a blast. Highly recommended.

Really thought I loved this place. If it wasn't bad enough that I was getting poured half drinks and being charged full price...I'm not sure what is worse, getting offered c**aine multiple times by the bartender or being sexually assaulted by her at the end of the night. I really didn't want to write this review, but I can't get what happened that night out of my head. I'm not the type of person to complain about situations like this but hopefully someone can talk to this Woman so it doesn't happen to someone else. THIS WOMAN GRABBED MY BREASTS AND KISSED THEM. ‍

I try not to give a bad review however, after so many bad experiences I think it's the need to do so. I came to grunnions over the past five years. In the beginning, the experience was great and all i had no issues. However, over the past year it's been extremely bad at this bar. Kelsey the bartender at this place is extremely rude, she provides bad customer service. I have come here many times as she is a bartender, and several times ive noticed that she immediate welcomes the locals whom tip her well i see. I came hear about a year ago she was not attentive just shallow and rude. I felt it was busy at the time and let it go. I came again by myself and saw she was extremely attentive to the locals taking shots with one of the locals, having the time of her life. She never once asked me if I was okay in front of the counter at times which was shocking. I noticed a pattern that she provided excellent customer service to the locals who tipped her well. I saw her sitting at some of these customers tables while not providing good customer service. After almost finishing my beer at the time she asked if i wanted another one which i said no due to the fact that she took forever to help me. I don't care if this girl is taking shots with one of the customers, just at least care that's all. I am not expecting to be my best friend. I have come here before where I was treated very well with another bartender, hispanic i think was amazing at the night shift she worked. I don't know why Kelsey doesn't care. Recently, I went one more time and it was my last.I came out here with some friends Kelsey was extremely face with her fake smile, and she just seemed like she didn't want to attend my table. Kelsey kept just focusing on the customers who tipped her well. Once again, I saw her being so kind to the locals but just did not provide customer service to my table. She just seemed rude not attentive. I wanted to get a lime with my beer and had to wait like 15 minutes since she decided to take forever changing her outfit. I can't understand why someone like her is a bartender/waitress. About a week after the experience I called the bar. I asked to speak to the manager. In the beginning Robert would not tell me his name when i asked for it. He was rude and passive then he hung up on me. I called back he said what did i need i asked what is your name and after the fourth time he told me. I will not be coming back to this place. It's gone downhill, and Robert, who is a manager, wow , I could not believe his bad attitude. I hope the owner sees this and talks to their staff. Maybe, if I was a local and tipped like crazy it would be different. Please Grunnions change this.

First, let's remove grill from the name . This place is first and foremost a bar and a bar only. They just happen to attempt to run a restaurant area. Many times I have been in lately and the service gets worse and worse. I was there yesterday and the waitresses were more interested in solcializing with people at the bar top, and yes as others pointed out, drinking with them rather than taking care of the restaurant side. They have had too many chances with me and I am done with them --- for food.

I stop coming to this place for a couple of years, but for the last few weekends on Saturdays I've been coming for the prime rib, it is delicious, and the girls Kelsey and Ariel are wonderful. Their service has definitely improved.

An old but fun vintage sports bar. Just about everything you expect out of a great little Sports Bar. The beer is many and food will fill you up and taste good as well!

Nice bar, friendly vibe. Had a Stella on tap and a very good Tuna Melt with salad. Friend had a tasty margarita. Good sports bar with easy access to viewable screens.

Great spot for lunch. Love to get their sandwiches with a cold beer and watch sports. Cant really go wrong with any of the food. Staff are great also and its easy to find parking most of the time. Definitely recommend this spot.

Great vibes. Everyone was friendly but the service was pretty bad. One girl took her sweet time and doesn't follow up with anything while the other one is running around taking so many orders and tentative. Had to catch a flight and waited for food and service for almost 2 hours. Was about to just leave our food. Not good idea to come Sunday noon before u catch a flight, guys

The worst waitresses in the South Bay. Don't come alone because they will walk by your table and look at you like you are a piece of art I don't drink so my punishment is to keep waiting for service. Sad because the potential is there.

Best sports bar in South Bay by a country mile. Great bartenders, owner is awesome and you can't beat it for NFL, NHL, NBA or pro soccer.

Bad service, 1 hour waiting time to order food, and the staff do not attend customers. I do not recommend coming to this place.

Terrible service, the servers just don't care. Went there on Thursday and it was a quiet night, my girlfriend, and I waited 30 minutes just to have the server come over and that never happened so we left. There were two servers, one was just talking to her friends, the whole time, and the other would pop behind the bar, serve some local and then disappear. And she wasn't running food, because there was a guy from the kitchen running fruit out to people, so I'm not sure where she was going, but she never once came over to us and we were sitting right at the bar. Waiting 30 minutes seems like forever when you just want to get a beer on a weekday night.

I went to this place because wif another app I have been using. When I first walked up I was surprised it was like a little old sports bar but I was like I want to try the sand which I have a coupon for. I park and I have daughter with me so I was like are kids allowed in side. I saw the chef coming from the kitchen when I was in the parking lot he was so nice he welcomed us so I went in. As I come some else who was drinking there welcomes us in so I'm like ok cool I sit down at a table and got a waitress she never comes. I walk yo yo the bar and the girl at the bar first this says says if I was there for the free sandwich when all I asked is do I order at the bar. She wouldn't take my order said the other girl would be over. We wait and wait and wait finally she comes over she doesn't writing anything down I ordered all she was worried about was redeeming the coupon. I order a drink and food for my daughter too so I spent money. The waitress never comes back the chef brings my food. Ok fine. She helped and checked in in the two tables in each size of me but not with me. I'm the end I had to ask the chef for a to go box and he cleaned my table. By the way the food was really good but I have never been Discriminated against like that in my life I walked up to the girl ask her for the check she never gives it to me I hand her my card she swipes my card turns around and I'm like OK where do I sign she left again so I leave the check on the counter I figured she swiped my card already so I left she comes running out saying I never paid and I said yes I did you swipe my car she says she did it so I got it back in and let her slide my car I asked for a manager she says there isn't one in I said OK well where is the owner she said he'll be there in the morning I said OK great I'll be calling him I asked her what her name was she said Marissa and she said that she was going to tell the manger that I tried to skip out on my bill. Girl for real! I promise I have no problem with paying my bill. They were very racist by the way my daughter confirm that I gave the girl my card and she swiped it

This sports bar has a big bar area and a lot of seating for dinning as well. They are currently playing a mixture of country and Christmas music and the vibe is just amazing. The food is good and not just "good for bar food" but it's GOOD. You must try the philly and grunion club. Everything is seasoned and not greasy like other bar foods. The service is good, the girls are cute, and it's just overall a laid back atmosphere. I definitely see why people come here regularly!

Ah, Grunions. This is the quintessential "Cheers" type bar. I have been going here for years. The bartenders are all great, the owner is cool, the drinks and food are reasonably priced, and you get a mellow, unpretentious crowd. They have a good variety of different beers on tap, but I always go for the Stone IPA. You can also get your standard mixed drinks. The food is your standard bar fare and the cook has been working there for as long as I can remember. I usually opt for the sliders, which are great. They also have a great New York steak special, which is delicious and a good value! Also, this is not a yuppie bar. This is what Manhattan Beach was like before all the 1 percenter, Golf cart driving, plastic straw banning, no smoking in my city, I work in finance, botox infused snobs from the East coast invaded the city. Finally, I recently visited and they were having a post-funeral event for one of the owners who passed away. Tons of former and current employees were there, which is a great testament to how awesome the Grunions family is and how well the management treats the staff. If you wanna go to Grunions, do it! Or don't. I will still be there.

Grunion Definition: 1. a small, silvery food fish, Leuresthes tenuis, of southern California, that spawns at high tide in wet sand brah. 2. an awesome, now outdoor, restaurant with food so good, it will make you climb a hill, roll down the hill, regardless if you need to fetch a pale of water. 3. Outdoor patio dinning experience that will kick you booty into your happy-place.

This is a cute little hidden bar. Had a good mix of people, young and old. TV's all over so no matter where you say you had a great view of the game. The only issue I had was that we went for the Dodger Opening Day game and it was packed and I could only see one waitress. She did an amazing job all by herself but service was a little slow. Hopefully that was just a one off

The bartenders and waiters here are pretty on point. It's a local sports bar that feels like a family the moment you walk in. Came here for a "watch party" but my friend and I chilled at the bar before then. They didn't skip a beat. Same awesome friendly and efficient service anywhere we sat! I can see why they have a huge list of what appears to be 'regulars'. Love these kinds of places. Menu has a bit of everything. The wings and nachos we had were tasty! Plenty of craft brews and domestics on tap. Bottles representing other regions, wine, and a full bar for those of you with a small list of "go to" beverages. Plenty of parking in back.... nice since Grunions is on the crazy busy Sepulveda. I'll be back!

Great local sports bar with ample TVs and large circular bar. Friday night got packed because of a baseball team and a large birthday party. Robert (owner) was the only guy working the bar with at least 100 people drinking. He didn't miss a beat with anyone and still had the time to see how we were doing. This guy sets the standard and was busting his *ss! He is a great guy too! The crowd is mostly locals with the median age around 50 or so. We had the Philly cheesesteak sandwich with shoestring fries which were good. Mice amount of meat and cheese on sandwich. Wife had chicken penne pasta that she liked as well. We also had a fried zucchini sticks that were beer batter. These were cut fresh and NOT frozen. They were great! Grunions is really what a local sports bar should be. Great people, great drink, great food and great times!

GRUNIONS My Friends, Grunions it is!!! My Go To is DOUBLE FRIED WINGS! I've tried every meal on their Menu and it's all hands down delish (the cooks know their stuff). But my Go To is those wings (Yes Double Fried). And you MUST try the "Kelsey Special" Trust me you'll love it! Not only is the creator of it the sweetest Server there, but she's the genius behind that lovely concoction! (Beware if you have more than 4, you will walk sideways. But on the bright side you won't notice you're walking sideways!). It's a Friendly,safe,fun atmosphere. It reminds me of the Regal Beagle (if you know the reference, then you'll know that GRUNIONS is the place for You!) & I don't mind driving 20mins to get there because, there's no argument...Grunions is the Spot!

After work after sex when ever you're craving a good beer this is the place Y? Because you'll feel right @ home. Robert is dee coolest bartender you can ever meet I tell you he's on top of it man. He remembers my favorite beer and recommends the best entrées that go with your beer. He's no Ted Danza but he's very sociable and cracks jokes. You'll love the TV's ever game is on except porn hub.
