The 38 Essential Stockholm Restaurants

"The wine list at Grus Grus is long, yet selective. It features small, European, non-intervention producers, with many wines available by the glass. Meanwhile, the open kitchen produces straightforward, delicious plates based on local and seasonal produce. Many dishes are influenced by Mediterranean cuisines, like grilled aubergine with labneh, sesame, and pomegranate; roasted marrow with onion, herbs, and grilled sourdough bread; endive with ajo blanco (white gazpacho), harissa, and almond; and cockles with lacto-fermented ramson (wild garlic). Above all, Grus Grus Wine Bar lives up to the ambition stated on its website: “We want you to feel at home!” [$$]" - Per Styregård

This bar is such a hidden gem in Stockholm! They have an extensive wine list and are very knowledgeable of their products. The food menu was equally as impressive - can’t recommend the hazelnut praline dessert enough. I’ve never eaten anything like this and it was one of the best things I’ve ever tasted in my life! The bar had an amazing ambiance, wish I was a local and could visit more often!

Went in on a Monday afternoon to find shelter from the cold. Cool atmosphere. We got the charcuterie plate, few beers and some really good pinot noir. Super friendly and chatty staff. The bar is on the basement level. Really cool find.

Was there a week ago, and I will visit again for an AW today. This is one of my local hangouts!! Why? - Well, their tiny menu and small dish concept (which is switched every so often) is perfect for when you want to grab a glass of wine and have tasty bites of divine food which has been carefully crafted (fresh ingredients, and distinctive and exciting flavour combinations!). The friendly atmosphere is a bonus and so is there extensive wine list but for me, it is the tasty food I constantly crave, which is why I visit so often and meet friends there for weekly catch-ups. The staff is also friendly and they are apparently very knowledgeable as far as wine is concerned (I only drink sparkly wine but all of my wine-crazed foodie friends love the fact that the staff know wine --- the wine list is quite extensive too). PS: none of the alternative dishes one can cross in this survey apply....Their menu is far more foodie-friendly than these unimaginative alternatives are!

A hidden gem. This is an amazing wine bar with incredible food. The duo of chefs (Louise Phalén and her sous chef, both female) create amazing dishes that are both visually pleasing and delicious. The venue is small but well decorated, bright, and inviting. It's an open kitchen so you can watch the chefs dou their magic. The wine selection is excellent and the Stagg are knowledgeable and helpful. For food, we ordered the sweet breads (pancreas), cockles, and radicchio salad. The cockles were our favorite, we had to order bread to soak up the sauce. The sweet breads were also good. It was well prepared, and visually pleasing. Definitely a dish to try if you feel adventurous since it's rare to find it. Grus Grus is a great place to go on a date or just grab a glass or bottle of wine with friends.

Overall a nice and bustling restaurant! Great wine list by the glass and love the food. My favorite was the ox tongue skewers! It is on the sweet side so couldve used maybe a slice of lemon on the side. The pike crudo and kibbeh was pretty good too albeit nothing to write home about. I loved the glass of Xarel-lo the waiter recommended. The one downside was the poor sound acoustics though it seems that is common in all busy bars here in Stockholm

Great wine. Good olives. Somewhat on the pricier side. The atmosphere could have been better if they would have removed all to boxes in the room we sat in.

The food was absolutely delicious. Every dish we tried was excellent. The servers and cooks were very friendly, fast and efficient. Worth the detour.

Lovely restaurant with a small bar/ restaurant feel. The food was incredible. We were a bit sceptical as it’s small plates but the food was delicious and filling. Highly recommend
