A group of four of us visited for lunch on 2/22/23.
I love complimentary chips---housemade, crispy, well salted, thin, and some curled pieces that enhance the overall texture. The salsa was dark, runny, not spicy, not too oniony, and overall enjoyable.
I ordered the huevos ranchero ($14) and asked for it to be made vegetarian (their refried beans are made with chicken and the dish comes with beef as a key ingredient). The only way to truly make the dish vegetarian is by substituting all meat and refried beans with black beans. The dish was visually appealing, smelled and tasted divine, and was a sufficient portion for lunch.
We also ordered guacamole for the table! The taste was excellent, fresh, and enjoyable---good enough for four adults (perhaps the equivalent of one large avocado).
I also ordered a mango agua fresca ($10). It was super delicious and a huge portion. It tasted like fresh mangoes were distilled to produce this drink. Definitely recommended.
I didn't take any photos.
They have indoor and outdoor (heated) seating. Views are nice. It's Georgetown so expect to pay a little more.
The service was consistent, prompt, friendly, and professional. Host, busser, and server team all contributed to a pleasant atmosphere. Payment processing was efficient and splitting checks was a nonissue.
The restaurant doesn't claim to be the something they're not. They don't claim to be the best cuisine in the city, or authentic Mexican, or Michelin-star rated, or a celebrity favorite. It's just straight up good Tex Mex and they don't pretend to be anything else, so don't expect luxury, bougie, fusion, or any other attributes you might get at Sandoval restaurants.
