Looking for gifts to bring home, we visited the Marigot Market, which was loaded with made-in-China tourist shlock. So we walked a few blocks over and found Guavaberry. Guavaberries are a local fruit, not the same as guava, which these folks macerate in rum and age from 1 to 3 years to make a powerful concoction.
They have many products made from guavaberries, jams, powders, even infused cigars. Luz Maria explained the process to us, everything is done by hand.
We got a bunch of products to take home to friends and family. Definitely worth a visit!
