"Formerly a members-only dining club, it excites not by its décor, but by shrewdly executed Huaiyang and Sichuan classics, alongside Taiwanese favourites. The new veteran head chef cuts back on oil and salt without sacrificing flavour. The main room is quiet and spacious; private rooms are perfect for banquets. Arrive early if you wish to enjoy a long lunch." - Michelin Inspector

"The Guest House in The Sheraton Grand Taipei Hotel received two Michelin stars at the inaugural MICHELIN Guide Taipei 2018 in March. Head chef Lin Ju-wei is known for his well-seasoned culinary skills, offering dishes that surprise with their flavors. Despite the prestige, Lin emphasizes teamwork and hands-on involvement in the kitchen. He highlights the importance of mastering culinary skills like controlling the heat of the wok and values teamwork, exemplified by recommending a side dish that requires team effort. The Michelin accolade added pressure but also motivation to the team." - Michelin Guide Digital-Hong Kong Macau

"Formerly a members-only dining club, it excites not with its décor, but with its food. Impressive skills transform seemingly simple dishes into tasteful presentations revealing great textures and taste. The menu is largely Huai Yang and Sichuan in origin, but with a Taiwanese twist. Signature dishes include double-boiled soups, chicken rice with sesame oil, pork tail braised in red yeast rice, and millefeuille tofu skin." - The MICHELIN Guide

The culinary experience at a Michelin restaurant is nothing short of extraordinary. Each dish is a masterpiece, carefully crafted with the finest ingredients and exquisite attention to detail. The flavors are a symphony, harmonizing in unexpected and delightful ways that tantalize the taste buds. The presentation is an art form, with each plate resembling a work of art. Every bite is a testament to the chef's skill and passion for perfection.

Very delicious for this course meal. And the portion of main dish was quite a lot that I almost couldn't finish.

Food was not what i anticipated. Some dishes came out salty and had to be sent back to remake. I can't say any of the dishes we ordered was outstanding. Moderate food at high end price. However, i did enjoy the culinary butler services.

Excellent service and good quality of food indeed. I was glad we did not go for the set menu and just chose the dishes we felt like trying, as the serving size was adequate for 4 adults who just wanted to try as many dishes as possible but didn’t want to have any leftover. It was a decent Asian lunch to treat overseas visitors or families, as they did a great job serving you tea and food at the right pace with plenty of privacy and time to talk. We ordered 7-8 dishes, 3 desserts and tea, and it cost us about 7000-8000 NTD. Highly recommended to visit during weekdays if you have trouble booking or go with a group of friends to try more dishes.

It took us more than a week to secure our reservation at The Guesthouse. However, we were lucky enough to heardback and dine with them during our stay in Taipei. The restaurant is breaking the stereotype of a traditional Shanghai restaurant by its modern-yet-retro Chinese decor that creates an appealing atmosphere. From our seats located at the 17th flr, we get the full view of the city including the Taipei 101. Aside from the house specialties Marinated Ribeye Steak and Pork Xiao Long Bao, One of the famous chef in the district, Chef Lin Chen-ching who has over 25 years of experience also served us some of his best: • Bean Sprout wrapped in Bean Curd Sheets • Cold Fungus & Celery with Wasabi Sauce • Shredded hundred leaves Tofu • Preserved egg in peeled egg • Shredded Pork Ear in Chili Sauce Overall, it's a refined and unforgettable experience!

I’d say it probably the best Chinese restaurant in Taipei. In fact, we did not survey reviews from the others customer, the meals were all excellent even though we just ordered what we want to have in the moment. It is a bit shame we did not have much time to have the set-menu. I definitely will re-visit in the near future. Extremely recommend !!

When Michelin was first introduced in Taiwan, it sparked a lot of online discussion. Many have said, "what does westerners know about Chinese/Taiwanese cuisine?" in fact, most online critics did not agree with the stars given to many restaurants serving traditional Chinese cuisine. As for today's experience: no dress code, lack of attention and service, poorly trained servers, and boring bland food. Simple put, you can skip and pick something else. Maybe considered Taiwan's 500 plates instead. Beef jowl (but in Chinese menu, it mentions Wagyu). Absolutely garbage and texture like jerky. I let them take it back and the server didn't even bother to ask why.
