"There's no short supply of Mexican food in LA, so when we say that Guisado's has some of the best, it's a hefty stamp of approval. Guisado is the Spanish word for stew—the kind of slow-braised, spiced meats that taste just as good with a side of rice and beans as they do starring in a taco—and that's exactly where this spot excels. Slow roasted pork with pickled red onions is the fan favorite, but they also do excellent fish, steak, and chicken. The original is in Boyle Heights, with additional locations in Echo Park and West Hollywood."

(Laid Back) "This is fun": Eating a full meal in front of someone is it's own kind of awkward so imo get in and get out. Drop cash on the drinks if you want but don't overthink food. Tacos are fast (and none of the guisados are particularly vibey aside from the original) so like prove that you can hold and eat a taco cleanly (read: have standards) and get out. The Wolves is next door.

I read really good reviews, was in the area, so decided to check it out. Very friendly service. The server suggested we try the sampler, consisting of 6 mini tacos with a variety of meats. Very delicious and filling! Highly recommend!

Google
I got two beef and two fish tacos, and these bad boys were stuffed to the brim. The tortillas are so fresh and a little on the thicker slide which makes it easier to eat the tacos without them falling apart. You must go while you’re in downtown LA

AMAZING! I learned of Guisados in this YouTube review. Guisados looked so good. I immediately went to their website, and since we were in Los Angeles that night, we tried it. I had the Calabacitas, Chile Relleno, Nopales, and the best of all Chiles Toreados. Overall, I give it 10/10. All were fantastic, good quality, and flavorful, with homemade tortillas, chill vibes, and workers very welcoming and super friendly. All were fantastic, but the Chiles Toreados were my favorite. It included grilled habanero, serrano, jalapeno, and Thai chiles, and then topped with the most amazing flavorful and complementary sauce. Spicy but flavorful. The best I have ever had. I highly recommend it (if you like spicy). I cannot wait to go back and try others, but I will always include Chiles Toreados. Quality: 10/10; Flavors: 10/10; Portion size for each taco: 10/10; Price: 9/10; Choices: 10/10; overall 10/10. I love the friendliness of the staff and the chill vibes. I cannot wait to go back. I keep going back.. just cannot get enough. Everytime I go, it just tastes better and better. Must try! Los tacos Guisados son sabrisos, increibles, los mejores.

Came here because a friend recommended. Did not disappoint. The food was the right amount of spicy, and their jugo de Jamaica litterally took me back to my childhood. Will bring my wife over

Guisados in DTLA is incredible! The tacos are bursting with flavor, and the fresh, handmade tortillas take them to the next level. I visited with my girlfriend and our dog, and we enjoyed sitting outside—lots of seating available both indoors and outdoors. Parking isn’t the easiest, but we walked, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Great vibes, friendly staff, and dog-friendly! Highly recommend if you're in the area!

This was the first Guisados I visited many years ago so I have fond memories of it. It's not as busy as it was back then but it's still just as good. The consistency in quality regardless of location makes Guisados a reliable place for a great meal. There's basically no taco I don't like from here but I usually go with the two different types of steak tacos and the quesadilla with chorizo. The horchata is great as well. The sampler is a great choice to try a little bit of several different types of tacos and is a good value.

Google
This is a mandatory stop whenever I come to the LA jewelry mart! The chorizo quesadillas are sinfully delicious 😋 I'm glad I live 1100 miles away because I would not be able to control my cravings if I lived closer.

We just left fight night and Eminem concert at BMO Stadium and were so hungry. My friend recommended this place and said they had the best tacos so we decided to try it. Once we got out of the car the smell of urine and homeless people was all around us. Normally that's a deterrent for me, but it is dtla and it was late so not many options. Walking in you can tell it was filled with customers who just came from a late night event. The staff was very friendly and some didn't really speak English. I got 2 orders of the taco sampler for me and my bf which included 1 steak picado taco, 1 bistek roja, 1 mole (I switched mine out for 1chuleta since I don't like mole), 1 tinga, 1 cochinita, and 1 chorizo. I also ordered ceviche and sangria. Everything was delicious! The tacos were really good along with the salsa they gave. They are small but filling. The sangria was definitely authentic and the ceviche was just ok, I could have done without that. I was still hungry and then ordered the Camerones tacos which were really good and bigger than the last tacos. I left really full but satisfied. Anytime I am in the area, I a coming back to this spot for cheap tasty tacos.

Yelp
The food is delicious, specially with the mini tacos sampler to get an idea of the taste . friendly & fast service Clean and great music

Yelp
Watery tacos. Not a fan of them much. Overpriced. Service is good though. Friendly. The Guisados in Echo Park has a lovely ambiance especially at night.

Yelp
Really yummy! I did the taco sampler and tried a few varieties. My faves ended up being the chorizo and steak. I felt the service could have been a little more customer friendly but they weren't rude or anything either. The inside was okay, and it looked like they tried to decorate it and make it their own.

Yelp
Been to about 3 other locations and all have consistent food quality. This one did not seem to have a bathroom tho from the looks of it; did not ask. Great outdoor covered, but airy seating. Got the choose your own mini tacos sampler plate that came with six. Very yum, least fave was the fried pork one bc it is NOT crispy; the sauce/salsa makes it very chewy/goopy. This location did not have the window view if staff making the handmade tortillas, which I love.

Yelp
Honestly, I was really curious how this place would stack up seeing all the reviews. I am from San Diego, if this is LA's taco standard, please do not ever say LA tacos are better than San Diego's. I will say, tortilla's are good. The taco's ingredients didn't have any flavor everything was bland. The person I was with had fish and chorizo tacos and he loved them. (He lives in LA tho lol) so if you never had tacos from MX or SD, sure its decent but this spot really isn't great, not terrible either. They do have a ton to choose from so maybe I was unlucky.

Jacob J.

Yelp
Food was over priced and did not have much flavor. At least they weren't stingy with the meat though. Hand made tortillas. $4.25 a taco. Stingy with guacamole though. Staff was nice. Vibe was ok but the food wasn't worth it.
google avatar

Jasmin H.

Yelp
Somehow I was not very impressed. The Tacos were very small for the price. Service was friendly and quick and they'll bring the food to your table. They have indoor and outdoor space.

Yelp
We stopped here during one of the DT art walk and it was yummy! They were one of the few that open late so they were still open when we were wandering around looking for food. I got the samplers because I wanted to taste different options. The flavor was really good and the samplers hit the spot. Very trendy and hip place. Service was fast and it was nice sitting at the counter looking out to the neon filled street at night.

Yelp
Great experience at Guisados! We were first time guests, and the hostess was so patient and helpful as we explored the menu. We settled on the sampler, which included 6 tacos. We opted for 4 steak and 2 pork. All were delicious, but the steak ones were my favorite. Everything was made to order, and the restaurant was clean and near. Definitely see why this place is so popular!

Yelp
I always thought this was a cute location for Guisados in DTLA Spring Arcade, I never dined here till recently. They have outdoor seating and the space is charming! We ordered some of our favorite tacos: steak picado, mole poblano and cochinita pibil, all fresh, full of flavor and fresh tortillas made in front of our eyes. We also added a pork tamale to split since we like how they make it here. Unfortunately they were out of the chicken one which is our favorite. For drinks, we always enjoy their sangria and you can get water on the house. Food is fresh and it was served fast, almost too fast. They don't have straws here which is a problem. I am not sure about restrooms, I looked inside and didn't see any, just an entrance to the kitchen. Service was nice, it is a solid place for a casual meal out. And the outdoor area here it's a plus!

Yelp
This is my go to for breakfast tacos which are basically tacos with scrambled eggs but are oh so good especially since they make their own tortillas fresh right there every day. You'll never be disappointed and my favorite ones are the Chuleta (pork chops), Hongos (mushrooms) and Chorizo. I love getting Horchata with cold brew with my breakfast. For regular tacos I always get Pescado, Camaron, Bistek and Conchinita Pibil. The place is very cozy and the staff are always very friendly.

Yelp
Loved the taco sampler here Just thr right amount of tacos Loved the molé and tinga tacos The meats are very soft and saucy Tortillas are handmade thicker than usual but good corn flavor The outside seating area is so cute
google avatar

Andrea B.

Yelp
My boyfriend loved the cheese quesadilla and says if you come here, you shouldn't leave without trying it. The cheese is slightly fried and melts in your mouth. It comes with a creamy, slightly sweet, buttery white sauce inside. It was so good, he literally went back to order a second one. He could not stop nodding his head and saying "wow" as he was eating. He also got a fish taco and carne asada taco. They were good, but not mindblowing.

Yelp
Every taco I had was amazing. Definitely some of the best I've had in LA. Tacos I ordered: steak picado (beef, bell peppers, green salsa), bistek in salsa roja (beef, red peppers, red salsa, avocado), and camerones (fajita-style shrimp and peppers/onions with a chipotle crema).

Yelp
2 mini shrimp on a taco ? Really all tortilla ? How do you guys charge over $5 a taco with two small pieces of shrimp it's absolutely appalling I frequent here a lot too yall dirty...

Yelp
I've been wanting to try Guisados, but for whatever reason, never came close to dining here until last night. The restaurant is conveniently located inside the Spring Street Shopping Arcade with both indoor and outdoor seating. Steak Picado 5/5: The flank steak was so flavorful, tender, and juicy! It went so well with the green serrano chile and black beans. Calabacitas 5/5: I wasn't expecting much since I don't normally eat vegetarian tacos, but I'm so happy that the staff highly recommended this as his favorite. The veggies and their own unique taste really shone thru. Wow, I was so impressed by the service and the flavors of the tacos! Can't wait to come back and get the sampler so I can try a bit of everything.
google avatar

Eri L.

Yelp
I was drawn in by their high ratings and was excited that they had a sampler to try out a lot of their different flavors. Unfortunately they did not provide any information on which was which but I enjoyed (what I think was) the tinga de pollo which had a mild spicy kick. I also tried out their pork tamale which was comforting and filling. There are both tables inside and outside. Food comes out quick.
google avatar

Yelp
I love Guisados, the tacos are delicious. I think they have a few locations in LA. The one in downtown hits the spot. Definitely recommend this place if you haven't been.

Yelp
Breakfast burrito all day!! Food is still super good and delicious at Guisados. And service is friendly and chill. Forgot to take pictures again because I just devoured everything. 10/10 would recommend.
google avatar

Leigh B.

Yelp
I got the taco sampler and I really liked half of them. The chicharrón is just not my thing but the pickled onions on the cochinita pibil was top tier. I would 100% go back for the quesadillas though! It tastes just like abuela made it with real Mexican queso Panela and the homemade tortilla. Next time I'll order 3 of those with the habanero salsa
google avatar

Jacob J.

Yelp
Best tacos by far in LA. Breakfast tacos handmade and housemade tortillas fast and delicious affordable good people good tacos
google avatar

Daniele J.

Yelp
This is an amazingly delicious taco place! we like hot salsa and they're selection is so spicy and varied. I have a friend who doesn't like spicy and there are definitely dishes here that she can get with no issue. We like spicy and it really is hot! You can choose what you like. Parking is a little bit of a hassle, but we don't mind walking a couple of blocks. I like the inside it feels Like classic simple taco joint. I can't wait to go back here and have some more tacos!
google avatar

Yelp
Came here on a whim for a late-night snack with some friends. There were so many choices to choose from, so I was excited to see the option for a sampler that features mini versions of the tacos on the menu. The staff was very friendly and helpful with picking tacos out and explaining which could be chosen for the sampler. I chose a few like Chorizo, Steak, Pork, etc. The portion was perfect for getting a little taste of everything. I liked that each had a bit of everything (Toppings, Salsa), and I thought they were all delicious. For a drink I had the Limòn Agua Fresca. Not too sweet, not too sour. It paired well with the taco since the salsa is on the spicier side. This place is perfect if you're in DTLA and want something good or to take a chance and try a variety of items at once!
google avatar

Tony L.

Yelp
The tacos were not bad by any means. Decent amount of meat in each taco, enjoyed the pickled onions. They use a refried black bean paste for some of the tacos, which was not bad. Meats were tender, some of the flavor profiles did not hit for me as much as I hoped but overall decent experience.
google avatar

Chris H.

Yelp
This place serves up a mean plate of tacos. These tacos or gourmet and pack a punch of flavor. Don't expect this to be your traditional street taco, expect so much better with higher quality ingredients. The service is awesome with staff being friendly and recommending great things to try. Plenty of seating available and the place has a nice feel to it. My wife and I will definitely be back when we are in the area!
google avatar

Teryl R.

Yelp
Tacos were packed with great flavors and were piping hot! The staff and service were very friendly and quick. I took one star away because the sangria was terrible in my opinion such a waste of $8. But other than that I was satisfied.
google avatar

Christopher K.

Yelp
Fresh made tortillas make a big difference! They prepare their own homemade tortillas fresh in the shop and you definitely can tell the quality. The tortillas are soft but almost chewy. Really liked the texture. They don't skimp on the fillings either. My tacos were loaded with steak, pork and mole. My favorite here surprisingly was the mole taco and least favorite was the pork chop taco. The mole was rich in flavor. It had the trinity in flavor explosiveness - savory, spicy and sweet. I just wish I got more of the mole tacos but I will be back for more thats for sure. Ole!
google avatar

Tina H.

Yelp
I really wanted to love Guisados. I had high expectations, especially due to all the great reviews. Unfortunately, it was a total bust. The service and the Auga Fresca were the only good things. We ordered the OG sampler tacos. They're 6 tacos. (The smallest tacos ever) The tacos were not good. They are super small, lacking flavor and texture. Omg I can't believe this place has high reviews. Seriously, it's so overpriced and overhyped. I've really never had tacos that I hated, but I finally found a place. I hated these tacos. They all just tasted like mush in my mouth. Hard pass!!!
google avatar

Celine M.

Yelp
This place is great for flavorful tacos and tamales. It's fast, cheap but doesn't skimp on the quality. I haven't eaten anything there that I didn't like. The service is consistent and the ambiance is simple and clean. A great staple!

Yelp
April & August 2023: Guisados knows tacos very well! I was first introduced to this restaurant by a friend, as we ate at their Echo Park location, which won my heart right away! Each bite was flavorful and rocked my world! Vegan: Each item that I've had on their Vegan menu was full of flavor, juicy, and just mouthwatering delicious! I recently tried a bite of my friend's spicy taco... Be careful what you ask for, it definitely put the spice in spicy; one bite was enough for me, and I can handle the heat! Hahaha! Customer Service: Always cheerful, helpful and knowledgeable about the menu and just genuinely friendly! Seating: Indoor & outdoor! Friends, and I usually dine outside, as it's spacious and very well lit... and I simply love fresh air! Overall: Whenever I'm in downtown LA and craving tacos, Guisados comes to mind, as I always know it's going to be a win on all fronts: flavor, customer service & spacious enough to accommodate everyone... most recently, party of 6 and party of 14!
google avatar

Yelp
Big flavors that pack a punch in such a small bite! It is easy to find taco spots all over LA that sell your typical carne asada, al pastor, lengua, but Guisados stands out above the rest with all of their complex flavors and freshly made tortillas bringing that authentic flare. My fiance and I tried the Streak Picadillo, Bistek en Salsa Roja, Tinga de Pollo, Cochinita Pibil, Chuleta en Chili Verde and Pescado. Each one was unique with plenty of delicious marinated meat bursting with flavor. Surprisingly the Tinga de Pollo and the Chuleta en Chili Verde were my favorite! I will say that both of these tacos were quite wet with drippings coming out the back from every bite haha. Definitely a step up in flavor compared to your typical taco stand, just be aware that the higher quality comes with an added cost. I'd recommend coming with friends so you can try a little bit of everything.
google avatar

Lisa N.

Yelp
Soooooooo tasty. Got the sampler platter that comes with 6 mini tacos. If you are really hungry, might need to order extra tacos but the flavor of every taco is spot on. They are open late so it's a good spot for drunchies. Also located in a popular food hall so location is ideal for a trip in DTLA. The tortilla is handmade and fresh. Ambiance is more of a chill casual vibe. Highly recommend this place and will definitely come back!!
google avatar

Vidyadhar D.

Yelp
Great food ! I tried mole poblano, Chicharron, fish and Puerco Tamales. Fish tacos had runny sour cream in it which killed some of the spice, was not up to my expectations. But the rest were delicious ! Tamales had a moist inside texture with a dry surface - exactly what I'd want. Chicken Mole sauce had a kick to it. Ambiance is fresh and lively. Service was prompt and the staff is cordial.
google avatar

Yelp
Sleepy on this for awhile, but finally tried so good. My favorite was the chicharrón en salsa verde, the taco de pescado and nopal was really good too. We also ordered the elite tamales so sweet and savory. My bf got two quesadillas - they're small btw but really tasty. The aguas frescas were also great not too sweet which I can appreciate. Great service and a big enough space for dinning. Casual dinning inside the food court.
google avatar

Ga Hing C.

Yelp
Saw this place on a Youtube video and knew I had to add it to my list of tacos to eat in Los Angeles. Ordered the OG sampler and they are a two-bite taco. The OG Sampler included the following tacos: Steak Picado, Bistek Roja, Tinga, Mole, Chicharron & Cochinita Pibil. All of them were really good. Service was speedy and friendly. I highly recommend getting the platter if you cannot decide. You'll not be disappointed.
google avatar

Taji E.

Yelp
I've been coming here for years. This place has lost it. One thing about LA, if it isn't a chain restaurant it's no one to bring complaints to that care. You'll notice after year three, they start to slack. I've noticed the one older cook using old heated tortillas that aren't fresh off the grill. She's been doing that for years, that's why I've slowed down my service. I used to stack burgers at Wendy's too, when I was 16. She doesn't give a damn.
google avatar

Jonathan Y.

Yelp
Got the mole poblano and the Cochinita pibil at midnight due to a craving. Guisados is always our staple when coming to LA. The food delivered quickly and the tacos were delicious. Alittle less saucey than normal but still delicious. I got a spice level 7 on the Cochinita pibil which I didn't know you could choose a spice level. I would say I would try a 9 next time and go from there. The 7 was just enough to have a slight lingering heat but didn't take me where I needed to be.
google avatar

Kevin B.

Yelp
Guisados isn't a taqueria. It's a culinary experience. There are more than just your basic carnitas, al pastor, carne asada with onions and cilantro tacos. They have mole, cochinita pibil and more. And each flavor is delicately cooked, seasoned and paired to become a whole new taco experience. Sure it's pricier than most taco places. But this isn't most taco places.
google avatar

Sophie T.

Yelp
I was craving tacos, so I wanted to go to Guisados. There's a 6 mini-taco sampler option, where you can choose any 6 tacos to try, but no seafood :(. The portion is pretty good and you get to try a lot of different flavors, which is great! The sampler cost around $8.25. My favorite was the Mole Pablano which was shredded chicken in a mole sauce, which I really liked. It has a burst of flavor and the chicken was delicious. The tinga de pollo was the other chicken one I tried, which was good and on the spicier side. I also tried the vegetarian ones, which tasted healthy, but definitely didn't have as much flavor as the meat ones.
google avatar

Roberta L.

Yelp
Tortillas are super good, I admit. Prob better then all the places I've been. But the amount of meat and the price.... Damn. They have a small parking lot that fits around 5 cars. If not, street parking.
google avatar

Yessica C.

Yelp
Had a really good experience during lunch here. It was not very busy and our food was out very quickly. They also displayed a keen sense of style as far as the restaurant interior. Unique art added much character to the walls. The exterior was also really beautiful. I got the sample plate and it was amazing I couldn't tell you which tacos was my favorite because I loved them all and the home made tortillas won me over. Will definitely visit this location again and their other locations when I'm craving a meal that reminds me of home.

Yelp
Guisados DTLA was walking distance from my hotel and it was worth every step to get there! My friend suggested this place while I was in LA and I enjoyed the customer service as well as the food. Ordered their camarones (shrimp) tacos and masa tamales, which were both tasty. Also, tried their sangria, which was decent.
google avatar

Margarita L.

Yelp
The chicharrón taco fantastic, spicy, simmered in the red sauce with homemade tortillas I also love the chicken in mole poblano yummy . Very good customer service all around
google avatar

Aaron Y.

Yelp
Nah, Over priced. Over hyped. Little portions. Mostly sauce on every taco. Over elevated and barley any protein. Just make a good taco with some substance. Tortillas and flavor were good which is why I gave it 3 stars instead of 2.
google avatar

Virginia N.

Yelp
LOVE a good sampler and Guisados does it the best. Perfect portion size and all of their options are good it's hard to narrow down to just 6! The tortillas are homemade so that's a bonus!
google avatar

Alyssa L.

Yelp
Ok so this place was highly rated by so many food sites/ food people so naturally I had to give it a go and gotta say I was extremely disappointed... The tacos weren't bad but they just weren't mind blowingly good?? Like it was doing it's job but also just minimally. I did really enjoy the sampler though because we were able to taste a lot of the different combos but again, not one taco had a distinct memorable taste. No flavor bombs and def missing some sort of texture element in all the ones we tried. IG: Spillingthe.beans

Michiko M.

Yelp
Solid 4.5 - a couple of friends and I went to this location to grab some dinner. I ordered the sampler - mini tacos with their popular options. Overall we enjoyed our tacos except one of my friends had ordered the Calabacitas - and said it was a hard pass. Said it tasted like boiled veggies put into a taco. Couldn't even finish it. They don't have a bathroom inside but my other friend found a security guard to let her use the restroom inside. Their outdoor area is nice but beware there are crazy/homeless people. We got harassed by some guy

Yelp
Great chow! The meats are braised and stewed with lots of fantastic flavor. The area is a bit rough these days but that's LA for you. That's CA for you!
