"Gung Ho is a new Chinese-American eatery by the parent company of HG Sply Co. and Standard Service. It features a menu developed by Kirstyn Brewer with traditional and new-age takes on Chinese-American cuisine. The interiors have been completely revamped after taking over Remedy’s former spot. Beverage director Matt Ragan and bar manager Zach Potts created a beverage menu with unexpected twists on traditional cocktails." - Alaena Hostetter

"Last week, much-anticipated Greenville Avenue restaurant Gung Ho quietly kicked open its doors. The restaurant at 2010 Greenville Avenue, in the space formerly known as Remedy, has been quietly serving its menu of Chinese-American fare for the past few days, and a representative for the restaurant tells Eater that the official opening date is coming soon. Gung Ho, from the same team that operated Remedy and next door spot HG Sply Co, has been in the works for more than a year, promising to bring Chinese-American fare from one of the city’s most talented chefs. An entire section of the menu, developed by chef Kirstyn Brewer, is dedicated to dim sum dishes that range from the traditional to the creative, like pork and peanut potstickers, black vinegar peanuts, and crab rangoons. Inventive, tiki-inspired cocktails are on offer, like the Amari colada, mixed with Amaro Braulio, Diamond Reserve rum, coconut cream, lime, and mint. There’s also a punch bowl garnished with orchids and citrus, and a cocktail topped with mint leaves and an actual tiny pinecone. The space’s former luxury soda fountain vibe has gotten a decidedly more minimalist makeover, complete with lush greenery, dark woods, and sleek finishes. Vibrant floral wallpaper adds a burst of color, and the Gatsby-inspired chandeliers have been replaced with modern lighting fixtures." - Amy McCarthy

The drinks, were perfectly made. The chicken dumplings were fantastic and esthetically pleasing. Do yourself a favor and get the shrimp fried rice! SO tasty. I will definitely be back. It’s slightly pricy but just go during happy hour. Totally worth it.

Simply delicious. We ordered the satay screwed, dumplings, charred green beans, and crack chicken. The service was great - the food comes out as its prepared so everything is hot and fresh. Great atmosphere- you could come after work, on a date, or with your family and have a great time.

Gung Ho was delicious!! My favorite dish was by far the orange chicken. I loved the flavor and how crispy the chicken was...sooo good! We also shared our meals since the portions were fairly large and got to try the pork lo mein and the Bi Bim Not. I love mixing my lo mein and fried rice so that’s exactly what I did. The fried rice was the better of the two in my opinion. The potstickers were good too, though the meat was almost sausage like and came out just warm. Still tasty.

I went there for a brunch on a Sunday.. didn't expect that interesting menu they offered. Lower Greenville has many nice options but this is definitely the most interesting one. This is basically a Chinese-American fusion joint. The quantity and the quality both are impressive. Service was good so was the ambience.

Google
Service: 5/5 Food: 4/5 Very nice but casual spot for American Chinese food! The staff was very nice and the service was quick. We ordered the Veggie Dumplings, Crab and Coconut Rice, and the Beef Curry. At $24, the crab and coconut rice was pretty damn good, but not worth that price. The beef curry was also $24, and while the beef itself was amazingly delicious and soft, I wasn't a huge fan of the crunchy rice at the bottom (it just tasted like burnt rice to me). However, both dishes overall were pretty good, but they just didn't quite live up to their price tags.

Drinks are a little strong for my liking but still have great taste! I rally enjoyed the atmosphere it’s so pretty! I ordered the orange chicken which was the bomb dot com! I’m for sure coming back to try something different!

Google
Chinese American fusion, but mostly catering to American clientele. I had a simple chicken friend rice. I thought, how can you mess up fried rice? It's a simple dish, no need to try and fancy it up by mixing too many contrasting flavors. Well, definitely wasn't for me. There was an underlying taste that I didn't like but couldn't put my finger on exactly what it was. The char siu pork dish was way better, which kept this review from being a 1 star. Maybe I just picked the wrong dish and will have to come back and give it a second chance. The drink we got came in a cute cat cup, so that was nice.

Yelp
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit! Parking was kinda difficult, but I found a free lot just around the corner on the residential side of the neighborhood. There seems to be 3 rooms in this place. When you first walk in, you're at the bar, to your right is a room in the front facing the window and the street and if you continue walking through the bar, past the restrooms, you'll find the back room. Ambiance: It's in a trendy and lively area of town, full of people, hustle and bustle. This place stayed packed the whole night. We were located in the back, in the private room, which we had to ourselves, though there were still other tables. Service: Our server was amazing! We were celebrating a birthday of a girl who just BEAT CANCER! When reserverations were made, I was informed that she told the staff that she wants a memorable night. The came to please because we were given a complimentary cup of birthday Rose from our server. What a nice touch! Food: Sooooo good! I ordered the Mongolian chicken and let's just say my food had such great flavor and it was nice and spicy. I wasn't expecting it to taste soo darn good. When i visit Dallas again, Gung Ho will be on the "to do" list.

Yelp
Came with a homie for out last dinner of 2019 and this place didn't disappoint. Very cute place with a decent selection of options. Loved our server too (sorry girl that I can't remember your name!) My friend and I shared the potstickers and they were good, definitely recommend! I was torn by what to order and our server suggested the crack chicken. I see why the dish got its name, it had so much flavor! Can't really imagine going back and ordering anything else. Planning to come back for brunch or happy hour and hopefully it'll be just as good.

Yelp
I need a second chance with this place. The potential is SO there. You just HAVE to order the right item. Trial & error you could say. I read the reviews, looked at pics, had convo about what to decide on at the table with my peers - my drink selection, Sake To Me, great choice. Closest thing to lychee sake that I could get. Sweet, refreshing and bright. Appetizer and entree? Both missing that some-thing! Started with the Smashed Cucumber. Right away, cilantro overload. The starter needed some acidity, some salt. Loved how fresh and crisp the cucumbers were, appreciated that. I ended up dousing the cucumbers with the sauce that came with the potstickers. Perfection. That fast. Killed them. Next time, I'll go with the potstickers. My entree - The Crack Chicken. I mean it has the word "crack" in it lol. It was either that or the Dan Dan Noodles. Which I will be getting next time. Honestly, the chicken just didn't do it for me. Subpar, tasted more like salt & pepper chicken. Nothing special. The fried rice that came with it was pretty good, but the dish honestly was average. The rave at the table was the noodles. Every person that got a noodle dish, they loved it and the Orange Chicken was a hit as well. So yeah, I'll be back, because I want to really like this place. A lot. I believe in second chances!

Yelp
My visit here was interesting. Not sure if it's a good or bad thing. I came here for my friend's birthday dinner so there were about 10 of us. Our reservations put us at the long table in the back of the bar which was appropriate and perfect. Service staff were all super friendly and helpful. The food was subpar. I had the curried mussels for appetizer/starter and it was pretty good. Can't go wrong with mussels. But it wasn't until the main dish I ordered, the beef chow fun, that I realized I really didn't like the food. The beef chow fun was overly salted, and it's as if they doused fish sauce over each dish. I wasn't a huge fan. I could barely finish my food and I typically always clean off my plates. I was curious to see Gung Ho's take on Chinese food, and I am disappointed. I understand the appeal/concept of a bar serving Chinese/new American fusion. But to be frank, it doesn't really work for me. It was so dark at the table we were at. I get it, dim lighting is the "thing" to do nowadays to create more romantic ambience. But we could not read our menus and the candlelights were not much help either. The lights at our table was set on a timer, so even though we would ask the staff to turn it up, it would grow dim once in a while. At one point during our visit, the fire alarm went off. Good thing we had finished our meals and paid that we could've just left. But it was a false alarm. It was quite bizarre. That's a good word to sum up my visit. Bizarre. While the interior aesthetics were very nice, the food was disappointing. It's already sad that most restaurants nowadays are about the "look and style" rather than quality.

Yelp
Food has lots of flavor! Lo mein noodles hold their own even without adding protein to it. Pot stickers are a great way to start off a meal. My husband likes the crack chicken, to me it just tasted like a lot of black pepper, not amazing but not bad either. Haven't had the opportunity to dine in yet, my husband picked it up to go. Everything tasted fresh and was still hot by the time he got it home. Complimentary valet parking that's located in front of Rapscallion and Laurel Tavern Wednesday- Saturday!

Yelp
Started with some Woodford Reserve Old Fashioneds - bartender was confident and he delivered with a smooth / non-sweet drink - 100. At dinner though - sent back a wine glass covered in lipstick. If I knew the girl was cute NP - but she was long gone, so asked for a new glass...no worries. Small shared plates worked well for our group of 8 - Pork and Peanut Pot Stickers - money! Dan Dan noodles and Crack Chicken - also great. The pork ribs with spice glaze and sugar were also a big hit. Lolz at the restroom intensified music at a decible too high - but overall the music was fine and a decent place for a larger group conversations. Great service and a fun evening.

Yelp
Great food and drinks! This was my 2nd visit here (I forgot to review the 1st one, oops!) I had the veggie dumplings, which were super good! I love the cute basket that they are served in. I think there were 5 or 6 dumplings, which was plenty for me :) Hubs had the chicken lo mein and loved it! He was like "wow, this is even bette than the first time we came here" lol We each had a cocktail as well. I had the "Lucky Cat" which was actually served in a ceramic lucky cat! How cute!! The drink was very good, too. Hubs had the "Mr. Pink", which of course I had to sample ;). It was good as well; fruity and served with 2 little watermelon balls on top. Not to forget, the customer service was impeccable! We walked in about 30 minutes 'til closing and weren't treated like we needed to hurry up or anything. Everyone was very nice! We will certainly be back!

Yelp
RIP REMEDY! Gung Ho sits in the same spot as Remedy which was one of my favorite restaurants in Lower Greenville. So I was a little salty when I walked passed the new eatery during a rainy St Patty's Day celebration. I quickly learned of the Chinese inspired menu and my feelings towards this restaurant went from disinterested to well... yes, you guessed it: GUNG HO! The décor doesn't match the menu, but it still works. The eloquent, sophistication of the design reminds me of Harlowe's in Deep Ellum while the menu is something I have never experienced: Various selections of dim sum, movie-titled inspired cocktails, and family style portions. I'm always looking for what makes restaurants stand out, so I'm already pretty impressed. Our waiter provided outstanding service. I believe his name was Ryan-- but he took his time explaining the menu as well as highlighting customer and personal favorites. Wonton soup is generally what one would pass up while strolling around the Chinese buffet table, but the Wonton soup here was preposterous! The thought of that smoky broth is making my mouth water. The chicken fried rice was pretty tasty too but the crispy chicken texture is what made this dish a home run. And if you like dry rub boneless wings at Wingstop, you'll love the crack chicken. I definitely see this little brasserie becoming one of my favorite restaurants in Dallas behind Wabi House. Gung Ho: Unthinkingly enthusiastic and eager. Couldn't have said it better myself.

Yelp
I enjoyed this place. I came here with a some friends for a bday party. We utilized the back room which was great for a party of 20 people. The food was tasty and the service was great. I really enjoyed the celery cucumber dish( I know that's not the correct name). The appetizer platter was fantastic. Loved the potstickers.

Yelp
Overall: Char Siu Pork was amazing!!! Pork was tender, juicy, and had beautiful flavors. The Bao Buns were soft and were brought out in their container finishing up being steamed. This meal can feed two comfortably or possibly 3. Highly recommend the dish along with drinks.

Yelp
Gung Ho was a great experience. Went for dinner on a Saturday around 8pm and we were seated immediately. Our server, Jaclyn, was friendly and helpful. The ambiance was dim lighting with upbeat music. The food and drinks were great. The pork potstickers came out nice and hot with a tasty filly. The Mongolian chicken hit the spot for a savory chicken and rice dish. Finally, the peanut noodles were surprisingly good. They were served cold and full of fresh herbs and veggies. This is definitely a place I would return to and recommend for a great experience in Greenville

Yelp
Gung Ho is a trendy Asian restaurant that caters to young professionals on lively Greenville Avenue. The portions are large (around $14-18 per entree) and served to share on circular tables with spinning lazy susans- perfect for groups large and small. The food is inventive and flavorful, while the menu has plenty of options to accommodate dietary needs. The dishes I would recommend are: 1. Crack Chicken- the chicken was exceptionally crispy and served with dried red chillies. It is definitely a great choice for a first visit and I recommend it served over fries. 2. Cumin Lamb- the lamb was surprisingly tender and the sauce complimented it well. 3. Mongolian Chicken- the sauce in particular made this dish quite delicious and thus difficult to part with when sharing. 4. Beef Chow Fun- there were many components to this dish and they worked well together. Despite the beautiful presentation with a fried egg atop, this dish was regrettably rather forgettable in flavor. They have many creative looking cocktails but also unique beer, wine, and tea service. The service was exceptional: we were made to feel welcome, the staff was attentive and knowledgeable, and we were given a complimentary dessert since we were celebrating a birthday! Parking can be tough at times but there is generally a spot in the lot behind. This restaurant does not cater to small children. I would highly suggest making a reservation, especially for a large group or weekend meal. Overall, this restaurant is a great addition to the area and is perfect for a satisfying meal on a night out.

Yelp
Some friends and I went to here because we was advised that they had a cool happy hour and we wanted to try it out. I believe this was on a Sunday. One we got there we was not greeted (well kinda) by the host. Lets just say she set a horrible tone on how we felt about the place before we even sat down. She was really rude and didn't really want to answer our questions and she just seemed uninterested and helping us. However., once we were FINALLY seated outside after asking her to be sit outside. Our server was very friendly and was apologetic for the host and her approach which we all appreciated. We order a daiquiri which wasn't really a daiquiri and it had a burnt lemon on top and it was what we called a "fancy" Daq. However the server understood and gracelessly switched it out for us. Most of us order red and white wine. Happy hour was not very interesting to say least but we wanted to try it out. Will I go back.. Maybe night.. wasn't a memorable experience.

Yelp
I went to Gung Ho for the first time a couple of nights ago. First impression was that the vibe of the restaurant was incredible. The details and the lighting and the way the space was used was very nice. However, the lasting impression was that the service was just very poor. The place was only about half full, and the staff seemed to take that as an opportunity to not be on their best game (talking amongst themselves in corners, etc.) Several tables around us sat down and got their food before we did. We had to ask for an update, which I think actually reminded them that we had ordered. We got a few simple things, so they got it out pretty quickly after that, but it made for a much longer dinner than we had planned for. Luckily, we had good company, the vibe of the restaurant was good, and the food was delicious once it finally made it to us. Just really disappointed in the service.

Yelp
I found this place on Yelp because I was looking for a dim sum-like place in the Dallas area. It had great ratings, so I had high hopes, and I was pleased with the food and service here! We were seated right away around 6pm on a Saturday. It got a little crowded a bit after, so I would recommend getting a reservation, which can be done easily online. We got the Too Wong Fu and Lucky Cat for drinks - TWF was very refreshing and fruity, and Lucky Cat was more ginger/minty. I liked both of the drinks. The Lucky Cat comes in a porcelain manekineko (a lucky cat in Japanese culture), so that was pretty cute! For an appetizer, we got the tuna tataki, which was very delicious. For entrees, we got the Char Siu pork and red curry tofu. The red curry tofu was okay. I think I would have enjoyed it more if the rice weren't drenched in the curry and was served on the side instead. The pork was to DIE FOR!!! We didn't realize it was such a large portion though, so it's definitely made for larger groups. It comes with 8 baos (steamed buns). But it was SO GOOD we finished all of it! The pork was marinated just right - it was so juicy and soft, and I would definitely come back for it! PS - Parking in the Greenville area is tough, especially on weekends. I would recommend taking an uber/lyft. There are tons of bars around this area to check out, as well!

Yelp
Came here as a last minute brunch stop before driving back to Austin after a weekend in Dallas. Gorgeous interior. We loved the design, lighting, and style and were quickly convinced to do the mimosa bar with the many juice options. Our first time and we wanted to try everything and our favorites were the tots, broccolini, and smashed cucumber salad. The food was so good I even ordered crack chicken fried rice to bring back to Austin for my husband. Very friendly service, we will definitely come back next time we are in Dallas!

Yelp
Gung Ho has become one of my favorite places to eat in the Greenville area! This restaurant has a fusion of foods that allow you to share family style meals over a plethora of amazing drink options. The detail placed into this restaurant is impeccable and shows through their decor from the walls down to the dishes! I am personally a fan of their Crack Chicken and their bok choy (not pictured because we dug in too fast). The drinks were what caught my attention, but the food keeps me coming back. If you're looking for a great restaurant with options for everyone then this is the place! Will def be back for more!!!

Tracey F.

Yelp
This restaurant was so fun and unique. We were headed out to brunch and where we wanted to go had a 45 minute ,so we chose this instead. What a great plan. The decor was cute and modern. All the chandeliers , I wanted to runaway with and install in my home. We had an awesome server who was so patient explaining how everything worked. He was a great guy with dreads and for the life of me, I can't remember his name. (Maybe all those mimosas?)We had a bunch of dishes that we all shared. The Steak and Eggs Fried Rice was the favorite of the group. Well that and the Breakfast Martini. My favorite was Lo Bak Go Tots. I am still sad that I didn't get to try the coconut cream egg rolls. Next time I am in Dallas , I will try this again!

Joshua L.

Yelp
The restaurant was not fully visible from the street so I needed to walk to find the entrance. The vibe of the place is really good for hanging out or casual drinking. We ordered a Vietnamese pork dish. Overall, I did not really like how they put the dish together as the juicy pork is overpowered by the pickled veggies and rice noodle. I would probacomeback for a drink but not for the food.

Belle R.

Yelp
Food was great, but a bit too oily for my liking. Otherwise, good bang for your buck. The orange chicken completely filled me up and I loved the mimosa bar. The mimosa is only $4 and then you get to choose the juice and fruit to put in it. I enjoyed the grapefruit juice with my champagne. Definitely a good value for the area and you won't leave hungry!

Leo C.

Yelp
Fun spot in Lower Greenville. Loved our server. Very helpful in explaining the menu and would later comp a drink, insisting that our entrees had been a little slow to come out of kitchen (we honestly didn't wait more than 10-15min for our food to come out but it was certainly a very nice gesture!) I really like the crack chicken bowl. The fried chicken wasn't heavy at all and there want much if any oil added to the rest of the dish (herbs, chiles, onions, and white rice). The flavors paired well together great although I didn't find it that spicy. It's hard to draw out the flavor of the chiles without cooking it in some oil. Two complaints. My crack chicken bowl seemed a little bit overpriced at $14 for the portion size. Second, you don't see a lot of brunch menus at Asian restaurants, but these guys have one. In all honesty, the brunch menu did not rock my world. I would've preferred to have been able to order off the regular menu in addition to brunch items. We'd return here but probably would try some of the other stuff in the neighborhood before we give Gung Ho another try.

Pam A.

Yelp
Went to Dallas for vacation and this was one of the restaurants Yelp recommended to us. We had the char siu pork with the bao and the lo mein with shrimp. Both were amaaazing. Everything was drenched in so much flavor and the baos were super soft. The pork dish is more on the pricey side, but they give you a ton of food...definitely enough for at least two full meals. If you're getting the cocktails, the bamboo and broadway is highly recommended. The ambiance and service were also really nice. Our waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable and gave us really great recommendations. Will definitely come back if we're back in the area

Jenny H.

Yelp
Came here during happy hour but this week they are doing some collaboration with Dallas Tiki week so the happy hour wasn't available. I ordered the lucky cat from the cocktail menu - it was kinda like a Moscow mule with strong ginger taste. It was not bad! The drink was served in a cat cup so it's too cute not to order it! I got the Vietnamese pork, I was a bit skeptical to order at first but it was pretty good! The rice vinegar dressing and the crunch peanut made it a great dish for summer! The portion of the meat was enough as well. I would definitely get it again. My friend got the crack chicken, it was like a fried spicy chicken nugget. She really enjoyed it as well. As a restaurant that serves Chinese cuisine with American twist, Gung ho did a great job! The flavor was great and the portion is enough as well. One of the few non-traditional Asian restaurants I would come back to outside of Plano/Richardson area! PS: for anyone that thought gungho has a rooftop, they don't. The rooftop belongs to HG SPLY CO, another restaurant that is two doors down.

Yelp
I went to Gung Ho on a Wednesday night for happy hour with a friend. Due to us coming on a Wednesday night there was no issue with parking; however, if you decide to check this place out on the weekend keep in mind the parking is very limited in the lower Greenville area. Anyways, when my friend and I arrived at the restaurant, there was no wait so we were serviced immediately. The prices for happy hour are amazing. The happy hour food range from 3-8 dollars, and the drinks are 4-6 dollars. My friend got the cracking chicken and I got the crab dip. My friend enjoyed his dish; however, I cannot say the same. The wonton chips that came with the crab dip over powered the crab dip. I had to eat the crap dip by its self to experience the true taste of the crab dip. Even though I wasn't 100% satisfied with the crab dip, my over all experience was good. The bartender was attentive, the size and quality of food was worth the price. I would definitely recommend this place to a friend!

Mini P.

Yelp
What a beauty is this place. Everything we ordered was just sooooo yummy. - curried mussels - pupu platter (port potstickers were the best) - cumin lamb (absolutely delicious)

Kristi H.

Yelp
Went here with some girlfriends for a ladies night out! It took a bit for our server to come greet us, but it was busy - no worries! I ordered the Lucky Cat to sip on as we continue to catch up and look over the menu. -Lucky Cat: Star Anise Infused Mt. Gay Black Barrel, Ginger, Lime Leaf Chile Syrup, Lemon & Lime - like an Asian inspired Moscow Mule - went down fast and easy (not spicy). Plus it was served in an adorable cat cup - winning all around. (4 out of 5) We found out it was family style so we tried the options below: -Steamed Chicken Dumplings: Average dumplings, tastey but nothing special. *TIP - Use the delicious chili sauce on the side - that is where all the flavor is! (w/out sauce 3 out of 5, w/ sauce 4 out of 5) -Chilled Peanut Noodles w/ Chicken: This was my personal favorite. It was light, flavorful and fresh. I think I would order this for a solo entree next time. (5 out of 5) -Crack Chicken: Breaded & fried nuggets, in a mala seasoning, dried chilies & herbs. These are from heaven and a total crowd pleaser. (5 out of 5) -Roasted mushrooms:Black garlic vin, garlic chives & bonito flakes - I personally liked these but the "dancing bonito flakes" turned the rest of the ladies off. *Tip - the fish flakes are only "dancing" because of the heat and are no way alive. Don't be afraid to try it. -Dan Dan Noodles: Spicy Pork & black bean ragu, scallion & crispy garlic... the favorite of most of the other ladies. Lacked flavor in my opinion. (3 out of 5) Disclosure - we did not order this dish, they brought it to us by accident. When we let them know they said for us to just enjoy. A solid 4 out of 5 experience. Things that would make it a 5 are more attentive service, proper meals being brought out. Will I return? Absolutely!

Benjamin E.

Yelp
Went back after a poor first visit. I will say the food is absolutely fantastic! There are still some kinks on the service side, the reservation system didn't work (just pull the trigger and get on OpenTable) and the timing of some things was a bit off. They did Comp our entree after it was noticeably late so they are in the right mindset just working through some things. Update: tried to order Favor and they don't do takeout! Updated: menu is much more limited, they got rid of their soups which were delicious!

Darius W.

Yelp
Back home for the holidays and my big brother treated me to Gung Ho. Upon entering the restaurant, Angie and Taylor (the hostesses) welcomed us with all smiles and a few food recommendations. Oh, the Southern Hospitality! The first words out of Ms. Angie's mouth was "Crack Chicken!" My eyes fluttered and I said "Come again?" Yes, the Crack Chicken was well-seasoned and juicy while the Crab-fried rice was a great complementary dish to share with my brother. The food came out within 10 minutes and our waitress, Elizabeth, served us with her bubbly Pisces personality, a few laughs, and an awesome run-down on good beers. You know it is hard to find good service and good food! Two words: Crack Chicken. Say less, eat more.

Rene B.

Yelp
Went for happy hour, and it was not bad! Good decor and very hip for a spact in Lower Greenville. Asian fusion. Overall the quality of the food is ok but it's good spot to share with drinks or before going out for the night. Would come back for happy hour as it was reasonably priced. Salt & Pepper Squid - wasn't as crispy as I would like but was good when made into a lettuce wrap with the included salsa naranja and pickled ginger. Refreshing/palate cleanser. Steamed Chicken Dumplings - neat and clean presentation wise, but average tasting. It was presented well, but there are better places to get flavorful dumplings. Crack Chicken - whatever spices they combined definitely turned it into crack. ADDICTING. Really enjoyed the sichuan spices and dried chilies as the heat was at an appropriate level. Would order again. Sauteed Baby Bok Choy - flavored really well with the black bean sauce. Love the char on the bok choy. I would order it again surprisingly. Chicken Fried Rice - turned out more salty than I would like, but the chicken is good. Lucky Cat - Aesthetically pleasing, but ok tasting. The star anise and ginger threw me off. Floral tasting

Came here for the happy hour and it did not disappoint! The prices were amazing! I had two $5 old fashions and they were very good. We ordered the following: -pork dumplings -veggie egg rolls -dan dan noodles -orange chicken -crack chicken - it's addicting! All that, plus a Mexican coke for only $48! Everything we ordered I would order again. There was nothing that I didn't like. We enjoyed our table on their front patio, and the service was excellent. I strongly suggest coming here for the happy hour.

Yelp
I am impressed. First time attending this location And it was good. The drink bamboo and broadway drink. The pork fried rice is very crisp and good. Just an FYI, the low Meir is spicy but very good food here. We will return as we came during happy hour and it was reasonable.

Yelp
Gung Ho has been on my list since it opened, but there's always been a long wait when I've tried to go. On my recent visit, we arrived at 6 p.m. on a Friday night and were able to get seated right away. - Atmosphere: The inside is chic and each of the single-stall bathrooms have fun, unique decor. When we arrived the only availability was in the private room in the back. It was much quieter and less "happening" than the main restaurant, but it would definitely be a fun place for a private party. - Service: Our server was helpful with recommendations of what to order and how much. - Food/Drink: When we arrived we ordered some cocktails and buns off of the happy hour menu. We all had the bamboo & broadway which was refreshing and made us feel kind of healthy. For our mains wet shared veggie dumplings, the chilled peanut noodles, and the crack chicken. They also provided us with complimentary bowls of rice to enjoy with our meal. I typically prefer hot noodles, but I actually loved the chilled peanut noodles. The crack chicken was definitely the highlight of the meal. We devoured everything except the veggie dumplings. They came in a dumpling basket, but they were in a bowl in the basket, which we thought was strange. They weren't super flavorful so we were not keen to finish them. - Value: I think the value at Gung Ho is great, especially if you take advantage of happy hour. Our cocktails were around $5. Typically at restaurants like this where you share dishes, I end up spending more money then planned, but here I felt like I saved money because we shared the plates. Overall, I will definitely be returning to Gung Ho (especially for happy hour)! I would recommend everything we had except the veggie dumplings.

Yelp
This review is based on their Sunday brunch only. So their most popular brunch item was " chicken & waffles" ... with a twist! It was indeed a surprising twist. Orange chicken with spiced waffle! Huge generous portion. Moist chicken boneless thigh , crispy on the outside. Very good! Very different. The eggplant was almost like eating chips, thinly sliced & deepfried & has some onions & sauce & loaded with dried chilies. Be sure not to bite into those chilies. There was a ton of them in our bowl. Another winner. The tots was good too, potato cubes deepfried, served with some kind of slaw & belly pork. The little bits of belly pork was heavenly. So flavourful. And fatty too! Just a little is good enough. The chicken dumplings were ok. I've had better. Will surely be back to try more items. Creative chef, hats to him/her.

Yelp
Gung ho is like an Americanized chinese bar and food that is modernized but still very tasty. I came here on a Saturday late night and me and a couple of friends had done late night snacks and drinks. We were sat down pretty quick as we walked I and it wasn't packed which was nice. Aparently this place gets very busy oh Mondays because they have 50 percent off on all food and live music for service industry workers. Our server was very nice and service was pretty good. The drink I got had a earl grey taste and was sweet but not overpowering. The presentation was beautiful and it tasted amazing even though I don't really like early grey. We shared this milk shake which was really good too. It tasted like biscoff and whoppers! The pork dumplings were very flavorful and juicy and the most interesting appetizer was the pickled stem veggie. It tasted like sesame oil and some furkake or seaweed dust and it was super crunchy like cucumbers. Definitely worth a try because I thought it was pretty good and very interesting. The place was very pretty too! Making it a great place to hang out and eat with friends. Give it a shot!

Yelp
Came in and sat at the bar. Placed a to go order. They place was well decorated and had a good atmosphere. The bartender was nice enough to get me water while I waited. And then filled it up when I was still waiting like 15 minutes later. It took me almost 20 minutes to get 3 appetizers to go. Which I think is a bit extensive. I got the shrimp, pork and chicken dumplings. I liked the pork the most. The shrimp was kind of tasteless. The duping sauces with each dumpling, To me didn't make sense. The pork sauce in particular I thought was over powering and I think plain soy sauce would have been best. $32 for 24 dumplings for sub par food. I don't think I will come back even though the service I encountered was very welcoming. Bottom line: foods gotta be on point for me to be a regular.

Yelp
Tuesday night, Gung Ho met my two most important selection criteria...their food got decent reviews on Yelp and that they served this food late. The fact that they're kind of in the neighborhood was a plus. I waited at the bar for 'A' to join me. I checked out their draft beer list and found Santa Fe 7K IPA, a new one on me...really good! 'A' met me there for a late dinner. It was our first visit and as people do, we decided to share a couple of entrees. The first one that jumped out at us was the Taiwanese Beef Pozole; we asked if we could share a soup entree and they found a way. This stuff is spicy, but delicious! If you are there by yourself, this dish will fill you up! Our server knew that we were first-timers and comped us an order of their Marinated Celtuce, a small bites starter of celtuce (Chinese stem lettuce) with herbs, vinegar and oil. Light and tasty, a great appetizer; we recommend it! We followed that with an order of Mapo Tofu, one of the few Asian dishes that I make at home. It's not quite the same as my more traditional version (Gung Ho is based on a leek ragu!), but it is spicy and delicious. The portions at Gung Ho are ample and we got to take home about a third of the Mapo...looking forward to lunch tomorrow! Personal opinion...IPA is often good with spicy Asian food. The Sante Fe 7K IPA was a perfect match with our selections. The service, from the first greeting, to the bartender while I waited for 'A', to the arrival of our server at our table, to the end of the meal was top-notch!

Yelp
Pro's: LOVE the ambiance! Loved the greeting when we walked in! LOVED the love music! Con's: The food :'( We ordered the chicken fried rice, the catfish hot pot and the wonton soup. Something about the oil they cook everything in is very off-putting. Me and my dad felt the same way about all 3 dishes. The first bite of each was good, but then it gradually started leaving an unpleasant flavor. I don't waste food and I couldn't even bring myself to pack any of it to go and we had enough for 2-3 servings. $70 (including tip) for 3 mediocre dishes and a beer...meh. I live on Greenville so because of the ambiance alone is probably try it again for a happy hour of they have that. I SOOOOO wanted to love this place because I LOVE Asian food, but I only left with hurt feelings.

Yelp
Gungho is so fun! The vibe is amazing! Great for big groups! I live close to Lower Greenville and wanted to check out the spot and was beyond impressed in what they have done with the space! The lavender cocktail (top hat) is every bit delicious as it is beautiful. Will certainly be back with more friends in tow.

Yelp
came here yesterday for a quick drink and appetizer yesterday. it was a beautiful day in dallas and the patios was open so we chose outside seating. we each got a drink, I got a thai tea shot and my bf got an IPA. we opted for the calamari lettuce wraps which were so good! the calamari was seasoned so well and it was topped with ginger and cilantro. it came with a sauce which was a little spicy for my liking but in small quantities gave the wrap a great kick. overall pretty good service, we were seated quickly and our waitress was really nice. Will definitely come again for a heavier meal.

Yelp
Good food, but service- not so much. The bartender was super scary and mean. Not the best to feel intimidated while you're trying to enjoy a meal... I'd order take out though- as long as I didn't have to pick it up from that same bartender! We ordered the Coconut Shrimp- which is served with noodles- and is actually quite spicy. The dish was amazing- 10/10 And the Orange Chicken put almost every other place I've had the dish recently to shame. 8/10.

Yelp
I came in for HH, so I really can't speak for the service, other than it was excellent, due to the fact there were only two of us at the bar. I'll make this review short- order the pork pot stickers for an app, and get either the crack chicken, or orange chicken. Unlike most China restaurants, the orange chicken here isn't a gooey mess, and the crack chicken, really is addictive hence the name. Oh, and be a man, and order one of those cucumber drink concoctions. The bartender makes it manly, and after 3, you'll forget that you're married with kids. 5 Stars for the food, drinks, and service.

Yelp
Nice addition to Lower Greenville! First, GREAT menu of food and cocktails. I came here with a girlfriend and there was plenty to choose from. DEFINITELY try the steamed chicken dumplings to start! Pair that with the lavender/egg white cocktail (sorry guys forgot the name) and you'll be set. The food comes out pretty quickly so that's a plus! I ordered the 3-cup Kung pao chicken and it was really good! That would also be a good dish to share if you get a couple of small plates to start. I will definitely be going back and plan to try the coconut rice & crab entree. My 4-stars isn't 5 because the service was slow at times. Our waitress was incredibly helpful as far as recommendations, but we had to flag her down to get our order. Overall, I'll give my visit an A-!

Yelp
Came here last night and was immediately met with a delicious smell as soon as we walked in. I really liked the interior and the restaurant was packed! My friend and I took a seat at the bar and were greeted by a friendly bartender. We ordered wine and the gin broadway cocktail, both which were good! Service was pretty prompt as well. We decided to order the dan dan noddles and although the flavor and seasoning was great, it was literally a chinese spaghetti. The noodles threw me off quite a bit as it looked just like spaghetti and meatballs and I just couldn't get over the texture of mixing an italian pasta with a spicy pork asian sauce. Hopefully some of their other options are tasty and I can order them if I come back.

Yelp
This place is really really good if you know what to get. The eggplant is the best thing there. The cucumber salad is also surprisingly excellent. Definitely get those. Many of the cocktails are excellent, including the fig (forget the name) and the Old Fashioned, which are both very balanced. The Padme (sp?) is also good if you want something sweeter. The pot stickers are good. The shrimp balls are good. The tiger cry was a little strange. I would have preferred the traditional beef to the mushroom version they offer. I don't think the mushrooms were strong enough to really counter the tiger cry marinade the way beef does. The cumin lamb was ok, but again, a little unbalanced. The catfish was the only thing I really didn't care for. But they have great service and handled the issue perfectly when I sent it back. All in all, this is a fantastic place to take a vegetarian. It stands out as a restaurant where the best things on the menu contain no meat. The high points are really excellent.

Yelp
Awesome menu with great variety. Our waitress said to go family style which was a great way to try a few different things. Dan dan noodles - YES! One of my favorite things and I've been missing so that was a treat. Charshu pork was insane - flavorful plus squishy buns and yummy sauce. Broccolini was a perfect side. Craft cocktails were good too.

Yelp
This place has hooked. We went on a whim and I'm so glad we did. The place is the cutest little retro-Asian inspired theme with a color scheme I'm living for. But let me stop gushing about the interior and more about the food. We got the Crack chicken- which is a must, Crab ragoons, and lastly Chicken fried rice. Everything had so much flavor!

Yelp
This place is beautiful! The amount of detail that went into the decor, the cocktails and the food truly shows! We stopped in here on our date night for a quick drink and appetizer before going (or so we thought) to another place for tacos. We sat and ordered their pork pot stickers and we knew we were not leaving. They were so incredible that we knew we had to stay for dinner. The pot stickers were so fresh it was amazing. We stayed for a specialty cocktail and dinner. The bartender was literally an artist and we knew we had to try something - both drinks were amazing. We had the coconut shrimp bowl for dinner which was one of the specials that night - it was very good, but I wished the coconut came through a bit more. You will not be disappointed and I highly recommend stopping in here!

Yelp
Really enjoyed this place, as well as this area! Being from out of town I was looking for good Thai food where we could sit and have dinner and a drink on New Year's Eve. The last Thai place we tried I did not care for at all so I was excited to try this one, and I was not disappointed. The food was great and there were lots of options. I believe it's more of an Asian fusion place which I actually liked more since I could get fries with my curry, something that's not really heard of back home. The inside was beautiful, very nice place to have a date night. The music was good, the energy was good, and the bathrooms were spotless! Always a plus. It did take a while for our drinks and food to come out but being New Year's Eve and so busy, that was expected. Our server was very apologetic and communicative. Would love to come back here next time I'm in Dallas!

Yelp
Love the ambiance and decor. Food was amazing I ordered the orange chicken with cauliflower rice and ate it again for lunch the next day. I would definitely return!!
