"Last week, much-anticipated Greenville Avenue restaurant Gung Ho quietly kicked open its doors. The restaurant at 2010 Greenville Avenue, in the space formerly known as Remedy, has been quietly serving its menu of Chinese-American fare for the past few days, and a representative for the restaurant tells Eater that the official opening date is coming soon. Gung Ho, from the same team that operated Remedy and next door spot HG Sply Co, has been in the works for more than a year, promising to bring Chinese-American fare from one of the city’s most talented chefs. An entire section of the menu, developed by chef Kirstyn Brewer, is dedicated to dim sum dishes that range from the traditional to the creative, like pork and peanut potstickers, black vinegar peanuts, and crab rangoons. Inventive, tiki-inspired cocktails are on offer, like the Amari colada, mixed with Amaro Braulio, Diamond Reserve rum, coconut cream, lime, and mint. There’s also a punch bowl garnished with orchids and citrus, and a cocktail topped with mint leaves and an actual tiny pinecone. The space’s former luxury soda fountain vibe has gotten a decidedly more minimalist makeover, complete with lush greenery, dark woods, and sleek finishes. Vibrant floral wallpaper adds a burst of color, and the Gatsby-inspired chandeliers have been replaced with modern lighting fixtures." - Amy McCarthy
