Google
I usually don’t write reviews but they have the best food in NYC! I have tried many restaurants but definitely this one is impressive and outstanding, from good customer service to delicious and outstanding food and drinks. The fried chicken is so good, very crunchy. Even better than many fried chicken restaurants in Korean Town. The sesame bread pudding is outstanding. I was very surprised. We also had the kimchi fried rice, mushroom taco, … all of them are very good!!! I can’t wait to come back to NYC and try the whole menu!

Google
I did not expect to find this quality of food in theater district, as harsh as that may sound. Prices are a bit steep for portion but that’s the tapas and nyc fare for you but taste is phenomenal. Place is basement level with your average faux-green decor vibes but service is excellent. I went here for some deep talks and keep getting distracted by the flavor profiles of the rich seafood broth in kalguksu and my favorite to start is the tender birria mandu.

Came here with my boyfriend for an early valentine day dinner and the food was great. Our favorite was the fried chicken wing, the black sesame bread pudding, and the tuna tartar. The staff was very friendly/attentive and the bathroom was very clean. Will definitely come back next time.

Google
Pleasant spot for pre theater dinner on Restaurant Row. Very attentive staff, sweet but a little too forced with the chitchat. We enjoyed everything we ordered, the oyster mushroom taco was our favorite. Portion sizes are definitely on the small side given the price points. It’s one thing to call the items “tapas” but then don’t charge entree prices. Black sesame bread pudding also great.

Google
Amazing Tapas experience. The food was so good, all plates were so interesting, definitely go with the Steak, the chicken wings and the Pudding, the cocktails also were delicious, Seoul Mule the best, excellent service by Diego. Totally Recommended

We stumbled upon this new spot while exploring the street and although we'd already eaten, we wanted to check it out because it seemed fun inside. The beverage menu is great, with a good mix of alcohol/non options. I particularly enjoyed their take on an espresso martini with makgeolli. The menu is tapas style, so we ordered a couple of options too snack on. The corn and cheese and everything rice cake were winners. The rice cake dish was like a gnocchi with a cheesey sauce which took a bit to wrap your head around but was still good. Staff were also super friendly and helpful with recommendations.

Google
Gurumé was insane. The staff was so kind and attentive, explaining the dishes and providing recommendations. I loved being able to try so many dishes. I also appreciate that they have a whole section dedicated to veggie / vegetarian dishes. The everything rice cakes were insane, I’ll be thinking about them and BLACK SESAME BREAD PUDDING (could any other combination of words sound this good?!) for at least a few more weeks. Love love love.

Google
Think Gurume has made it's way into my top 3 restaurants in NYC. The service was perfect all night long; attentive, explained the dishes and how best to eat them. The Steak & Potatoes, Birria Mandu and the corn riblets were all major highlights! Josephine behind the bar made some wonderful cocktails too! All round wonderful experience!

Yelp
From a Korean American Family - go. It's delicious. We all approve. The rice cakes, galbi, corn, bossam, kimchi fried rice (never thought i would like quinoa. Crunchy quinoa - YUM!) black sesame bread pudding were all terrific. Just go. Service was wonderful too. Attentive without hovering.

Yelp
My friend and I grabbed an early dinner here before catching a broadway show as the restaurant was only a 10 minutes walk to the show. We were seated promptly and our waiter recommended their local ale on tap and their selection of imported beers from Japan. We ordered the steak and potatoes, asparagus and corn with cheese to share. The steak was juicy and perfectly sliced for sharing. The flavours of the tuna tartare was kept well and we were surprised to see long slices of tuna instead of the cubes we usually see with tartare. The side dishes included the asparagus which was sprinkled with chili dwenjang which was not overpowering. The crispy corn and cheese was also sprinkled with Korean gochujang which gave it just enough flavour with a crunch. We enjoyed our meal there and all the staff were friendly. It did get busy on a weeknight by 6:30pm so make sure to make a reservation if you don't want to wait.

Yelp
Big yum. We went to Gurumé to celebrate Valentine's Day and it was a big hit. They recommended 6 dishes for 2 people. We got 6 dishes and 1 dessert. It was more than enough, we left super full and happy! For drinks we had the Namu, Just Try It, and Bool. All of them were masterfully crafted and delicious. The Namu was bright and refreshing. Just Try It is a fun take on an expresso martini. If you're into pumpkin spice this is the move. Contains a bit of pumpkin puree too! I ate it and it was good lol. The Bool was the best margarita I had in a long time. Flavorful, spicy, with a nice rim of what I believe to be lava salt. We got the crispy corn cheese first. This is a must get. Hot to the touch, finger licking good, flavor blasting. Followed by the birria mandu, this was a meaty bite. That good sauce on every bite of tender meat was amazing. Mushroom harvest bowl, with the truffle supplement on it. Table side shaving, the food looked good. After some mixing we dined in. Each bite was good! A mixture of flavors that felt earthy and rich. Berkshire kimchi fried rice was our least favorite dish. I felt like it lacked some pork. Mostly rice and not much heat or tang of kimchi. Seared shrimp was fresh and bright. The sauce is the true star of the dish. Scoop that sauce up, the shrimp needs it. The steak and potatoes was our favorite dish! The steak was cooked perfectly to medium rare (only served medium rare btw). Covered in the best chimichurri sauce I ever had. It felt like a Korean take on it and it was amazing. The potatoes were crispy and so fun to eat. As for dessert, we got the black sesame bread pudding. You have to get this. (It takes time to make btw). And that's okay because it comes out hot with butter sizzling. That hot bread with vanilla gelato hits so hard. Service is great too! Staff were personable and they gave free truffle potato chips to start. They alsotheir personal takes on which dish they liked and gave anecdotes on how they were made. They made each dish a bit more fun to eat. The restaurant is dark and cozy. Some tables are close together. Overall it's amazing. I want to come back and try more dishes!

Yelp
Came here with a friend for a quick but yummy bite before a show nearby. First and foremost, the staff here is amazing- very attentive and friendly. Each dish was explained to us when it came out and they were happy to answer any questions. We enjoyed everything we ordered! The most exciting dish- Everything Ricecake, it was like an adult everything but the bagel dip with a Korean twist- yum!! My favorite was the Crispy Corn & Cheese, but we also really enjoyed the Steak and Potatoes (omg those potatoes are mouth watering!!) & the Berkshire Kimchi Fried Rice. The ambiance was also very pleasant, with dim lighting and yellow/white string lights. It felt cozy on a cold February day.

Yelp
This is a lovely Korean fusion tapas restaurant with a nice variety of drinks and small plates. The jejudo cocktail ($17) was fruity and refreshing, although not very strong for the price. As for food, everything we got was delicious, but I liked the everything ricecake ($18) and oyster mushroom tacos ($18) the best. We also had corn ribs ($15) and the mushroom harvest bowl ($20). Service was friendly as well. Overall, everything was delicious but a bit pricey in terms of value, although that's typical for tapas style places.

Yelp
If you're in the times square area make sure you stop by for some unique tapas. The highlighted dishes have to be the steak and potatoes. It was cooked perfectly, juicy, and the flavor was absolutely delicious. The crispy corn and Cheese was something I would definitely go back for it had a smokey flavor, was creamy , crunchy ,10 out of 10 !! It was addicting and I definitely go back for that specific dish. The star of it all had to have been the black Sesame bread pudding. It was unlike anything I've ever had and the flavors combined was perfection. Make sure you stop by and check them out

Yelp
The best fusion tapas place I've tried in a long time. Every dish was a knockout. My favorites were the oyster mushroom tacos and the black sesame bread pudding. The bread pudding is so good that I would go back just for that. The oyster mushrooms were fried and seasoned so perfectly that I would love for them to be a dish on their own. My only critique is that it's quite pricey for tapas.

Yelp
This is one of our favorite restaurants, and greatest finds in sometime. It combines two of our favorite thing: Tapas and Korean food, paired with excellent service and consistency. This is now our go-to restaurant several times or more a month. It's extremely welcoming with the perfect ambience, whether it's date night, or it's a group night with friends. It truly phenomenal. The owners are awesome guys ... as are all the staff. Kevin and Sebastian (not brothers, just look alikes) are big on customer service and making their way from table to table to ensure every guest is having a good time and enjoying their meal. Each dish is as tasty as the next. We always start with the crispy corn and cheese. I think I could eat that all day! Don't be afraid to use your hands to scoop up the sauce. (Even if your husband cringes and gives you the side eye as you do so!!!) The tuna tartar is outstanding. My husband loves the scallop crudo. (The fermented vinaigrette it's served in could be a beverage of its own. So delicious.) We've pretty much tried everything on the menu and only found one or two items that weren't our taste, but good nonetheless. My husband goes wild for the black pudding desert. The service is exceptional. Very attentive. They always make sure to explain each item and its ingredients and suggestions on how best to enjoy it. It's flawless from start to finish. We love this place so much that we are abandoning our usual New Year's Eve spot (after five years) to have NYE dinner here.

Yelp
Excellent, creative dishes! Had the Mushroom Harvest Bowl, Steak and Potatoes, Fried Chicken Wings (Soy Garlic Sauce) and Seafood Kalgukso - all terrific with perhaps the Mushroom Harvest Bowl standing out the most for outstanding combination of flavors. The Black Sesame Bread Pudding for dessert provided a nice finish. It was very busy when we there for a pre-theater dinner but the staff did a great job managing the crowd and was very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Finally made it to NYC. Before heading to see The Lion King on Broadway we stopped in. We were quickly seated and told the waiter we had an 8pm show. They took our order and next thing you know the dining experience begun! Our waiter came along with each entree to explain every detail. The food was so good! I was nervous I wouldn't be full eating tapas. Boy was I wrong. We split the tapas amongst the three of us. The restaurant is quite small so I wouldn't go with a large party. Cute date night spot for sure! I felt like I was in the movie The Menu without the tragic ending. The attention to detail. The way they decided which tapa should come next. A culinary experience for your taste buds!

Yelp
I've been meaning to check out Gurumé for some time now and I'm really glad I did. Immediately upon arriving, you are welcomed with warm twinkling lights in front of the restaurant, which was a nice touch that set the first impression. You are then greeted by all the staff once you walk in. The portions were on the smaller side, so for 2 people you will have to share about 4-6 dishes to be full. The prices are in line with other contemporary Korean restaurants in NYC and also with the prime location that the restaurant is located in. One thing I will say is that if you came in a party of 3 like me, some of the dishes can be hard to split (some came in 2 or 4 pieces) so keep that in mind when ordering. I came on a weekday right before happy hour ended, which was $2 off each alcoholic beverage and a few dollars off select dishes. Crispy Corn & Cheese (5/5) - At first, I didn't read the menu closely and I thought that this would be the usual Korean corn cheese made in a pan and was pleasant surprised that it was actually corn ribs (which I like 100x better). It was packed with flavor and had I not been with other people, I would've finished the whole dish myself. Steak and Potatoes (5/5) - The steak was served medium rare only - which they actually perfected (most places cannot cook medium rare meat for some reason) and the crispy potatoes next to them were paired sooo nicely. Fried Chicken Wings (3.5/5) - Typical Korean fried chicken. Not terrible but not as memorable as the other dishes. Seafood Kalguksu (3/5) - This dish was also so-so. The portion was fitting for one person. Scallop Crudo (4.5/5) - The scallops were really tender and seasoned well with the vinaigrette. I wish it came with a few more pieces though. Injeolmi Tiramisu (3.5/5) - I was expecting a typical tiramisu but was surprised when served with two mini taiyakis resting on two beds of coffee cream. In my opinion, the coffee cream was way better than the taiyaki, which was a bit stale and plain. The presentation was cute and unique. Namu soju elixir (5/5) - This drink was $2 off during HH, and I really enjoyed it, not overly strong or weak and the flavor profile went really well together. Jejudo soju elixir (3/5) - Tasted like a piña colada, which is not really my preference. Also $2 off during HH. Kevin and the other waitstaff were very hospitable and kept checking in to make sure we were good. They gave us recommendations and pointed out their personal favorites because it was our first time there. I like that every time a dish came to the table, the server gave a brief explanation of it and told us the best way to enjoy it. The vibe is super cozy and there's nobody rushing you to finish and pay the check. All in all a great dining experience.

Yelp
I came to Gurumé with my fiancé for dinner in a Friday. I had made a reservation for 7:15pm since I was not sure how busy the place would get, especially due to its location near Broadway. I had heard amazing things about the food here and I was certainly not disappointed. We were greeted kindly and shown to our table where our waiter almost immediately came by to explain the menus for tapas and drinks. This spot is nicely decorated and very cute. For drinks we both tried the Yuja Sour which was a very nice foamy cocktail that was mild and a little sweet. We ordered this since we both like pisco sours a lot and this was similar except less sour. They brought us a small portion of these delicious homemade chips with truffle and salt that were perfectly crispy. For food we shared. - tuna tartare: one of our favorite dishes of the night. Generous portion of fresh fish, in a delicious citrusy, creamy, garlicky sauce. It had great texture from the crispy sunchoke chips and just felt like a very light and refreshing way to start the meal. Perfect balance of flavors. - truffle dduk and cheese: this was another favorite! The rice cakes were cooked to perfection and had a nice chewiness to them like mochi. The cheese sauce was creamy, and had hints of truffle that were just right without being overwhelming. It had a little texture from these crunchies on top and was served with a few slices of crispy bread. - Brussels sprouts: these may have been some of my favorite Brussels sprouts that I've had in the city! They had the perfect balance of sweetness and umami. The texture was perfect and they were very addicting. - mushroom harvest bowl: another hit! Generous meaty mushrooms with crispy rice, pears, and a runny egg. The silkiness of the egg yolk really enriched the umami mushrooms and everything was well balanced by the mild, perfectly complimentary flavor of the Korean pear. - spicy chicken and cheese: super tender and well seasoned chicken with nice crispy skin. It came with some cheese and potato puree that was rich and helped balance out the gochujang glaze. I know this dish has pesto but I had a hard time discerning the flavor perhaps since it was my first time having anything with gochujang and I'm not familiar with the flavor profile. This was very filling and delicious. - black sesame bread pudding: the star of the show.... We tried not to cave but it's impossible when almost every table gets one of these. This dessert is INSANE! The bread pudding is soft and soaked in a delicious buttery sweet sauce, comes sizzling in a skillet so the edges become a little caramelized. It has the nutty aroma of black sesame and a generous scoop of cold vanilla ice cream in the middle. The portions appears much less intimidating in person and yea actually very adequately sized to split between two people. Would come back just for this. Overall, the food was a 5/5. In terms of service and ambiance, I felt that I had a little bit of an overwhelming experience. The energy is high here--the restaurant is small and some tables are pretty crammed, the conversations were loud, the service was lightning fast. With most dishes coming out within a few minutes of ordering which made us feel a little rushed. For some context, I had been working for 12 days straight and this was my first outing, so I was exhausted and may have benefited from a more calm ambiance. That being said, I think this place was hyped and would be very nice to come on a night out with friends when the energy is running high. I would definitely come back here for delicious tapas and the location is perfect as somewhere to go before a show in the area!

Yelp
My dining partner and I had Gurumé on our radar for a few weeks and we're so glad we finally got to try it. At first we were nervous that it was going to be over hyped or too vibey, but I am so glad we were wrong! Loved the vibe for sure. Every single dish (and we got 5) we had was incredible, to the point where we had difficulty ranking them. With that said - you must get the black sesame bread pudding, the tuna tartare, the truffle cheese rice cakes, the kimchi fried rice (with a really nice level of heat), and the steak (pro-tip is to save some of the truffle cheese and dip the potatoes into it). Also for what each dish was, the price was very appropriate - which we appreciated! Especially for that area. Service wise - super attentive! Our water was always full and it was easy to get our servers attention when we needed something. Will most certainly be back!

Yelp
The food here is fantastic. The tables are a bit close and the service friendly, quick and efficient. Good pre-theater choice. Every item was flavorful. Loved the romanesco and oyster mushroom tacos.
google avatar

Pratima M.

Yelp
This is my favorite pre-theater meal I've had in New York so far -- conveniently located next to Broadway shows and more, this Korean-fusion tapas spot is my new go-to in the area! They have a great HH special with discounts on food and drink. The ambiance is really lovely and the service was great -- the staff personally explained every dish to us, you could tell that they were really passionate and great at making recommendations! You cannot go wrong with anything, but Corn Ribs and Dduk and Cheese were my personal favorites. I appreciate that there were pescatarian and vegetarian options. I'll definitely be back again soon! Pro tip: DO NOT skip the bread pudding. You have to get it, just trust me!
google avatar

Nick M.

Yelp
We were able to snag a reservation between our broadway shows and I'm so glad we did! Because they're small plates and need refreshed often, the service was impeccable and timely. But we never felt rushed. The Seoul Mule had house made ginger syrup that was spiced and fresh - you could taste the love! I was a big fan of their sour soju cocktail as well with the egg white foam. We got several plates, favorites being the corn dish, the spicy chicken wings, the chicken + cheese, the steak. All were exceptional. And we can't wait to go back and try the rest! The sesame bread pudding dessert was the perfect closer. And great to split with a friend or loved one!

Yelp
What a delicious feast we had here--and so unique to have a Korean Tapas bar! The space is very cozy and thoughtful, and can get super loud for a table of 8 to hear more than the people next to you. We enjoyed most everything we tried, and we tried a lot! Faves were scallop crudo, birria mandu, steak and potatoes, and the bread pudding. Sometimes the menu sounds amazing but the food doesn't hold up, this place is at least as delicious as it reads...we will go back before we head out!

Yelp
I haven't been hearing enough about Gurume, a cozy Korean tapas spot in Hell's Kitchen! It just opened last December and has incredibly flavorful Korean tapas. This spot is definitely one of my faves in the city now! The service was really friendly and attentive. Here's what I tried: Jejudo Mock Elixir ($11) - Grapefruit, coconut, pineapple. Tastes just like a piña colada! Yuja Sour ($16) - Great yuzu flavor! Pork and Radish Bossam ($19) - Soo good! The bossam is super tender and flavorful Truffle Dduk & Cheese ($17) - Love the contrast in texture! Crunchy from toasted bread and chewy from the dduk, plus super cheesy! Oyster Mushroom Taco ($17) - The crème fraîche with spicy mayo is amazing! Can't even tell it's mushrooms--love it! Steak and Potatoes ($23) - Smokey and savory! They only serve it medium rare. Scallop Crudo ($19) - The fermented chili vinaigrette adds a perfect acidity, and the red ruby grapefruit is a nice touch! Black Sesame Bread Pudding ($12) - Soft and rich, with that distinct nutty sesame flavor. Bonus: they serve complimentary chips, which are so addicting hehe! My top faves were the bossam, truffle dduk & cheese, and black sesame bread pudding.

Yelp
Great take on Korean tapas! We enjoyed almost everything we tried (corn, steak and potatoes, and the very yummy fried chicken)! The kimchi fried rice wasn't our favorite but truly the other dishes were so tasty. Plates/portions were plenty for the two of us. And try one of the Soju drinks!!! Yum!
google avatar

Sierra S.

Yelp
This is a must try spot!!! For its proximity to Times Square I'm surprised it wasn't busier. We made a reservation a few days in advance and were able to get a table for 3 on a Saturday night at 7:30 without issue. Everyone who waited on us was friendly and provided helpful recommendations for navigating the menu. For three we had 4 dishes and a dessert, it was enough food for us to be full without being uncomfortable. Every dish was cooked traditionally Korean and it was phenomenal, the chicken wings had the perfect crisp on them. The truffle dduk was a fun take on traditional rice cakes, the cheese sauce was yummy. The star of the show was the bread pudding!!!! Easily one of my top 5 desserts ever, worth treating yourself on dessert. As for the cocktails, be careful they're delicious! The soju cocktails were fantastic, we tried four different ones we couldn't help it!

Yelp
Good! Liked the bread pudding a lot. Mandoo was also quite good. I also enjoyed the fried rice. Overall a pretty yummy place near PABT with great vibes.

Yelp
I came here with some friends for a second dinner, so we had some light bites and drinks to end the night. The space has a dark and hipster ambiance featuring Korean fusion tapas, which brings some unique items on the menu. To start off, we had some cocktails as I opted for the Bool ($16), which is essentially a spicy margarita. Some of the cocktails even had a light up cube for some fun. Every table got a little complimentary plate of truffle chips, which was nice. As for bites, we ordered the Spicy Yangyum Fried Chicken Wings ($16), Crispy Corn and Cheese ($14), and Black Sesame Bread Pudding ($11). The fried chicken is a classic Korean fried chicken, which was crispy and flavorful. I also enjoyed how much the seasonings were smothered over the corn, but was a bit surprised to see that the riblets are still on the cob. The bread pudding was such a perfect ending dessert as it came out sizzling hot with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. There's not much black sesame flavor but some seeds sprinkled on top, but the bread pudding is still delicious. Overall, the flavors of the food is on point, but definitely on the pricier side for what you get. This is the kind of spot you go more for drinks and have some bites on the side. In the end, we finished with a can of the Kikusui Honjozo sake ($13), which gave us about 6 shots.

Yelp
Went there on a Saturday for a preshow dinner. Walked in at 5:15pm without any reservations but the hostess was nice enough to accommodate us as long as we can be done by 6pm which worked out perfect for us. We ordered their Brussels sprouts, crispy corn, steak and potato, fried chicken wings, kimchi fried rice and here are my thoughts on each dish: Brussels sprouts: crispy and tender. The flavors were well balanced with a small kick from the chili dust. However, if I didn't read the menu, I would've thought it's a honey soy sauce rather yuja as I don't recall tasting anything citrusy. But it's still a solid dish. Crispy corn: crispy and flavorful. It was savory and a hint of creaminess from the sprinkled cheese. I particularly like the gochujang corn puree which helped enhance the corn flavor even more. They recommended to just use your hands to eat and dip the corn riblets in the puree and they provide wet towels for you to wipe your hands afterwards. Steak and potato: this was one of our favorite dish. The steak was nicely charred and cooked to a perfect medium rare. It was paired well with the chimichurri sauce that's packed with flavors. The potato confit was crispy and tender but not oily at all. I would definitely order this dish again next time I return. Soy garlic Fried chicken wings: perfectly double fried. Crispy on the outside and super moist and tender on the inside. The sauce was on point without it because too salty or sweet. It was also perfectly paired with the kimchi radish so it can balance out the grease and you won't feel too heavy after devouring the entire dish. Kimchi fried rice: it was flavorful with a unique twist given the crispy quinoa provided another level of texture. However, I would have liked it if they used aged kimchi as I didn't feel there was enough umami and sour taste that aged kimchi provides. It's not your traditional kimchi fried rice and it's still a good dish but it may be my personal preference because I really like aged kimchi and it the kimchi used in this dish didn't satisfy me. The restaurant is as spacious as it can get in the middle of theater district. It has a warm and cozy vibe. There's a bar with a couple of bar seating for walk ins which can be an option if they have no tables available. My husband also ordered a yuja sour and he said it was phenomenal. All the staff were amazingly friendly, our waiter was very attentive and efficient. Even though we were told we need leave by 6, we didn't feel rushed at all. I would definitely return to try other items the offer especially their desserts since I have a sweet tooth and was sad I didn't have the time to try them out. This is a great option for pre or post show and I highly recommend!

Yelp
Easily the best (and most expensive) meal I've had all week. New restaurant opened 4 mos ago. Everything was hot & delicious, service excellent. They even brought napkins without request ~5 times. Soju: pineapple, watermelon, spicy pomegranate Tuna tartare Spicy cheese corn Steak and potatoes Soy garlic chxn wings

Yelp
Located on restaurant row- this Korean fusion place was a delightful surprise and hit the spot with the tapas choices. Our faves were definitely the scallop crudo, tuna tartare and the star of the show, Korean version of the Mexican cheesy corn. We tried the dog and car beer in a can and the Seoul mule. Service was very attentive. The restaurant decor is very simple and not fancy. Opens at 5pm and started filling up pretty fast.

Yelp
Made a last minute decision because the menu looked so good. Did not make a reservation ( I would recommend you do and not do what I did ) but the staff was so gracious and friendly and got me a table. The service was amazing and the food was beyond my high expectations. Incredible flavors, beautiful presentation, so many amazing dishes on the menu that it will take me a few more visits to cover everything I wanted to try. If you are in NYC, head over and make Gurume a must try.

Yelp
Cuisine: 6 Service: 7 Decor: 7 Value: 5 Overall: 6 Too sweet was the general consensus amongst me and my three dining partners. Our server was kind enough and the decor was fine. However, the food just did not live up to expectations. One of my friends was craving Korean Fried Chicken Wings that night. Their version had a very crunchy crust, but it was too sweet and the meat was dry. The Mushroom Harvest Bowl was tasty, but once again, why does it need to be so sweet? My favorite item might have been the Truffle Dduk & Cheese, which had a good flavor and a nice chew. Oyster Mushroom Taco and Pork & Radish "Bossam" were decent, but I was not a fan of the Birria Mandu. The prices were what you would expect on Restaurant Row due to all the tourists nearby in the theater district. For locals, we have so many other better options around the city that I would not waste the time or money to come here.

Yelp
A delicious fusion of Korean flavors. Came here because it was highly rated on yelp and it was close to our hotel, and I'm so happy that we did. We got here around 8:30pm on a Thursday night with no reservation. There was no wait. Our waitress was wonderful. It's tapas, and she recommend 2-3 plates per person. We ordered the steak and potatoes, oyster mushroom taco, and tuna tartare. They brought us complimentary potato chips to start. Our first plate was the tuna tartare. They were strips of tuna with a side of chips. I prefer more chips with my tartare and added the complimentary chips to my dish which was perfect. The tuna was delicious. Then, came the steak and potatoes. This was their take on Kalbi. The meat was cooked medium rare with a chimichurri sauce. I thought the meat was a little chewy but it still tasted wonderful with the fusion of flavors. The potatoes had the perfect crisp to it. Then, came the oyster mushroom tacos. The oyster mushroom was fried with corn puree and pico de gallo. The sauce was a little spicy but it was balanced with the freshness and tartness of the pico. The taco was crunchy and so satisfying. I enjoyed every single bite. The restaurant was small. The place was dim and the ambiance felt very private. Service was wonderful. They came by often and filled our waters and cleaned our dishes as we finished. I never tasted anything like this before and cannot recommend it enough.

Yelp
Came here for dinner with my friend and was pleasantly surprised. The chef and owner was at the host stand and he was so nice! The wait wasn't bad at all despite us going at peak dinner time, the interior reminds me of those trendy restaurants in Korea with the dim lighting and the mix of industrial decor. The drinks were really good and the server was really sweet and recommended the drinks based on our preference. The chicken was really good, some of the best Korean fried chicken I've had in New York. Would definitely come back, highly recommend this spot for date night or girls night!

Yelp
The food was superb. Our bartender was knowledgeable about the menu and provided great recommendations. The service was fast but warm and welcoming. I recommend making a reservation if you're in the Times Square area, but want to avoid a touristy experience.

Yelp
Good enough for a pre theater drink and small plates. The sour was definitely from a mix and had very little alcohol. They have orange wine on the menu which is nice. They let you taste if there is an open bottle. We shared three plates - tuna tartare: good enough, Brussels sprouts excellent, and chicken and cheese - very good and spicy. Service - good and prompt - competitive prices. Bottom line - good but not outstanding. Convenient - I would go back and try some of the more adventurous dishes

Yelp
I was looking for a Korean fusion quick-bites kind of cuisine when I came across this highly-rated restaurant. Gurume is located on Restaurant Row, and it was fun to see the different cuisines on that street. We made no reservations, but were seated immediately at opening. The service was amazing - I think we had 4-5 people constantly coming around to fill our waters, take our plates away, and check in on us. As for the food, we ordered several things, but standouts were the fired chicken, bossam, and tuna tartar. I think they did an awesome job staying true to Korean cuisine, but adding something special to make every dish unique. Highly recommend it to those looking for something special to eat.

Yelp
Food was decent but the restaurant was far too loud. The acoustics are pretty bad inside so we were eager to leave almost as soon as we sat down. However, the service was very friendly and relatively prompt. As for what we tried: - Fried corn and cheese: This was tasty and one of my favorite dishes. - Mushroom harvest bowl: Also one of the better dishes. - Kimchi fried rice: Average. - Seafood Kalguksu: A little spicy. I enjoyed this dish. - Pork and radish bassam: Definitely not as good as most other places. - Injeolmi churros: Liked this dessert. The churros were not good but enjoyed the vanilla ice cream and whipped cream (how can you mess that up?) They don't have a hard liquor license yet but do have several interesting looking cocktail options that are soju-based.

Yelp
Came here for dinner and had a great time! Ji took care of us through the evening and gave us all the details on the menu. Service was definitely the highlight overall. Food was awesome all around - we got the ceviche, fried rice, and tuna tartare and thought everything was really good. My favorite was the ceviche which was refreshing and light. Vibes were lively with lots of folks having a good time. I'd recommend swinging by when you're in the area.

Yelp
My sister in law came here on a whim before a show and said it was amazing. We came back here together and she was right. The food is ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. The chef is amazing. The menu is great and so are the waiters. Everyone is super friendly and explains the dishes to you once served too. We got so many dishes. They also serve some specially made potato chips. Can't even explain the flavor but it's so good. They're all tapas style so it's fun to try a lot. Some of my favorites included the dumplings, the mushroom bowl, the Korean wings, and kimchi fried rice. Literally nothing tasted bad. I'm craving all this food again. The bread pudding for dessert is SO DAMN GOOD. It is perfectly sweet and moist. On drinks, I got a drink that was supposed to be similar to an espresso martini but it was too sweet. Didn't like it. I ended up switching to a drink with egg whites and loved it. Gurume has a HH from 5-7 with special pricing on drinks and food then. Take advantage!!!!

Yelp
My friend and I made a reservation for Gurumé at 7pm on a Saturday. I would recommend making a reservation if you are dining around this time, as it was packed! However, the crowd had dissipated by 8:30pm, so if you're looking for a later evening bite, it's definitely slower. I would also recommend not dining at peak hours because it was so loud. Decor is your average, upscale vibes, but the tables are really close together to maximize the amount of people in the space. We ordered crispy corn and cheese ($14), oyster mushroom taco ($17), berkshire kimchi fried rice ($19), scallop crudo ($19), and pork & radish "bossam" ($19). We also ordered the black sesame bread pudding for dessert ($11). Overall, the food was flavored well and tasty. You're paying entree prices for appetizer portions, but it makes sense for the location. If I came back, I would skip the kimchi fried rice and scallop crudo. The fried rice was nothing special, and I have had better experiences with simpler ingredients; the scallop crudo was overpowered by the other flavors, losing the taste of the scallop. The bossam was so moist and juicy, with fantastic natural flavoring, though the other components did enhance the flavor. I would only recommend the corn if you are a corn lover and none of the other appetizers appeal to you. The mushroom taco had a great combination of flavors and the spice kick was mild. If you're a dessert person, the bread pudding was delectable, great black sesame flavor and the bread was also moist. Service was outstanding. We were originally seated next to a large party, and they later moved us to a table further away where it was quieter. There were many checkbacks throughout the evening, and they definitely make you feel like you are valued as a customer. I would recommend Gurumé for a fancy night out and people in your party can talk loudly.

Yelp
Once again my Yelp community came through with solid reviews. We had a reservation but sat at the bar. The dining room is tight and cozy. Service was excellent, as were all of our dishes. They also have a nice cocktail selection.

Yelp
Really unique take on tapas and Korean food. Enjoyed (and was surprised by) most of what I ate, especially the bossam, brussels sprouts, and kalguksu. I personally wasn't crazy about the kimchi fried rice or injeolmi churros, but appreciated what they were going for. Service-wise, I had mixed feelings. Some of the staff was on top of the ball and very attentive. Others were hard to get a hold of and a little frantic. I got the sense that the staff was a bit overwhelmed with the crowd.

Yelp
Delicious korean tapas restaurant near Times Square. This is one of my new top korean tapas restaurants. The food is delicious and the service was amazing. I'm surprised it's not busier, I was able to get a resy the week of. It is a little loud inside but it's a great place to get some food and drinks with a friend!
google avatar

Yelp
Rather high end, classy food; definitely make a reservation on Resy since it does get quite busy. The biggest thing to note here is that it's extremely noisy; if you want a quiet dinner, look elsewhere since you'll need to scream just to converse with the person across from you. Food-wise, everything was delicious, but portions are tiny, especially for the price. Remember that these are Korean tapas and that just two people can eat at least 4-5 dishes together, and at $20 each, that can get pricey quick. Personally, expensive, small portions, and loud ambiance in a restaurant isn't my jam. But if you're okay with that, I think you'd enjoy Gurume.

Yelp
Great variety of small plates. Real sleeper hit is the seafood kalguksu, which translates to seafood knife cut noodles in broth. It combines two Korean favorites, kalguksu, and jogaetang (clam soup) and is light, refreshing, and packed with flavor. Happy hour special also boasts some solid fried chicken. Tuna tartare was delicious as well. Everyone who works there is super friendly, and extremely attentive. As a Korean person, hearing everyone being greeted in Korean felt nice as well. Had great pocha vibes with the food, and intimate date spot with the ambiance. I had delicious meal and everything we ordered really hit the spot. I would go just for the kalguksu. I hope more people continue to order it so it stays on the menu. I also plan to go back to try their deserts. Complimentary truffle chips were served to every table as well. Just go, you'll have fun.

Yelp
Suave, easy going and fun and Josephine, the bartender is phenomenal with her recommendations. I had the Scallop Crudo, the Burrata and Wings. The food is amazing.

Yelp
The food here at Gurume is so special. The flavor profiles that the chef captures are on another level! The steak and potatoes were particularly special, and I love that the gristle on the wings is edible. I don't know how they did it! Service is incredibly attentive and informed. Everyone working here really made my visit special. You can see the staff works in tandem to give the best service possible.

Yelp
Went for the drinks and dessert! Black sesame bread pudding came in a sizzling hot plate, and it was so delicious. Could've eaten probably 20! Gelato and almonds add the perfect touch of sweetness and crunch. For drinks, we tried the OI, Jejudo, and Namu. All of them were so fresh and fun - picturesque beverages with colorful ice cubes and tiny fruit decorations. Such a chill and friendly ambiance! Servers are so sweet, and service is amazing! Not too busy on evenings, a little quieter spot to go to for late evenings on weekends. They stop serving food on Saturdays at 11 and drinks last call is before midnight.

Yelp
This environment is superb! What a lovely experience we had at Gurumé! I highly recommend it if for no other reason that the taste was AWESOME. Yet, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. We did not have to wait long before they were assisting us (that kind of situation where they are readily available just when you need them--perfect) and I liked that when they brought the tapas, they provided us with tips on how to best enjoy them. Anyway, I highly recommend them! Hope you check's out..

Yelp
Love the service here. Incredibly attentive, excitedly explain every dish, and walk you through the entire experience. We sat for four hours and and they cared for us from start to finish. The food is a mix of classic dishes and more unique Korean fare. We tried the mild chicken wings which had a beautiful crispiness on the outside. The mushroom bowl gave an earthy and flavorful vibe when mixed with the egg on top. The brussel sprouts were cooked well but typical flavor. And the spicy chicken and cheese is a bold mix of flavors, but not my favorite. The black sesame bread pudding was the perfect way to cap off the evening - save room for that! There's also a great happy hour until 7pm during the week. A few dishes are discounted and many drinks are $2 off. Only hesitation about this spot is that it gets quite loud. Not the best spot for easy casual conversation, unless you got later in the night.

Yelp
My husband and I made a last minute resy around 8:30pm on a Friday night. We weren't super hungry because we had already had drinks and fries at Valerie with work friends, but yet, we managed to finish all that we ordered because the tapas were that good! We got the truffle dduk (rice cake) and cheese, birria mandu (dumplings), and donut churros with vanilla ice cream. The dduk was absolutely divine and felt like eating pillowy clouds. The bread that came with the dduk was perfectly crisp and added a nice texture when paired with the dduk. The truffle wasn't overpowering and added a beautiful finish to the cheesy goodness. I highly recommend this one! The birria mandu wasn't originally high on my list but my husband insisted we get it as it was something different. The first bite wasn't exactly a "wow" although it was definitely still tasty, but once we spooned the sauce on top and into the dumpling (sort of like eating it like a soup dumpling!), it was super yummy. Lastly, I'm not usually a dessert person but I decided to try the donut churros. These were really good! I had the dalgona cocktail, which I thought was okay (I'm not a huge coffee person although I love espresso martinis so I thought I'd like this one) but next time I might try a different cocktail. To cap off, Diana (one of the servers) gave us two free shots on the house and had such a warm presence that my husband and I were convinced that this was a place we should definitely revisit!

Yelp
I made a reservation for myself and two friends for a Thursday at 6:15 (Note - if you cancel less than 6 hours prior, you get charged $10 per person). It was pretty packed at that time. For drinks, I had the Jejudo mocktail (grapefruit, coconut, pineapple). It reminded me of a pina colada, and it was nice and refreshing. Since everything is tapas style, we ordered a few dishes to share: -Baby back ribs (citrus dwenjang, perilla tempura, gochujang corn puree) - this had a good flavor to it. Although the meat fell off the bone, the meat was still somehow dry -Fried chicken wings (soy garlic, radish kimchi) - again nice flavor, but the batter was too thick. You're eating more batter than you are chicken -Charred romanesco (romanesco cauliflower, tingling chojang, creme fraiche) - this was my favorite dish. It was very unique and I loved how the creme fraiche balanced out the spice -Truffle dduk & cheese (brown butter korean rice cake, six cheese sauce, crunchy quinoa, crostini) - this reminded me of mac and cheese, and I liked it - especially with the thin crostini -Seafood kalguksu (knife cut noodles, haemul broth, manila clams, seasonal seafood) - a little basic. Not sure it was worth the $23 -Scallop crudo (hokkaido scallop, fermented chili vinaigrette, ruby red grapefruit) - I couldn't partake in this one since I am pregant but it looked really good/refreshing -Black sesame bread pudding (warm black sesame bread pudding, vanilla bean gelato, candied almonds) - aside from the cauliflower, this was the other dish of the night that I loved. You could really taste the black sesame, and I loved the candied almonds Overall, it seems the dishes are hit or miss. I wasn't hungry afterwards, but I definitely wasn't full, so just something to keep in mind in case you're super hungry since the menu isn't exactly cheap. Service was really great though - everyone we interacted with seemed very kind.
